Longji Rice Terraces is a large-scale rice terrace group in Guilin, which is divided into three parts: Jinkeng Rice Terraces, Ping'an Zhuang Rice Terraces and Longji Ancient Zhuangzhai Rice Terraces.
When visiting Longji Rice Terraces, most people hike to see the scenery and take photos. Many photography enthusiasts even come here just to watch the sunrise. You can also try local farm dishes and experience the customs of ethnic minorities.
There are Yao and Zhuang villages scattered among the terraces. Every year, the Red Yao people hold the "Clothes Drying Festival", when every household will take out their colorful clothes and skirts to dry, which are gorgeous and eye-catching.

I have been to Longji many times. The Longji scenic area package is divided into three parts. You can go to all of them after buying the ticket at the gate: Ping'an Rice Terraces (the terraces that most tourists go to, the hotel conditions are relatively good, there are many choices, there are many foods, and you can see the long-haired red Yao), Guzhuangzhai Rice Terraces (relatively simple terraces, people don’t wear Zhuang costumes, those who don’t like climbing can go this way), Jinkeng Rice Terraces (also called Dazhai, now there is a cable car going up and down, mainly to see the long-haired red Yao, it is still relatively simple, but if you want to see the real simple and original Yao people, you need to hike)
I went there on the first day of the Chinese New Year of the Pig in 2019. I was lucky enough to catch the sea of clouds. I took the cable car up, and it was like being in a fairyland. I walked down the mountain slowly, stopping and taking pictures along the way. It took more than an hour to walk down the mountain. When I first went up, I saw the sea of clouds. After eating, the sky cleared and the sun came out when I went down the mountain. It was very good. I turned right at the end of the cable car and ate at a restaurant. I chose a window seat in the restaurant. The scenery was very good. The bamboo tube rice was good, and the bamboo tube chicken was actually chicken soup. When I looked at the sea of clouds at the top of the mountain, I could still see the scenery at first, but later the clouds moved with the wind, and there were more and more clouds and fog, just like a fairyland.
The cable car took us up the mountain and we walked down the mountain. It took about half an hour to take the cable car, and the tour guide said it would take an hour to walk down the mountain. However, since the people in the same car chose to walk up and down the mountain, we had plenty of time. We rested wherever we saw a place and enjoyed the scenery. It took more than 2 hours to get down the mountain.
The best time to visit the terraces is mid-June, when the rice is being planted and irrigated, and the second best time is October. By this time, there are no crops, only bare grass and a few rapeseed fields. Although there is a possibility of irrigation in winter, whether you can encounter it depends on luck.
Longji Rice Terraces are 77 kilometers away from downtown Guilin. It is a large-scale terraced field group with the highest elevation of 1,180 meters and the lowest elevation of 380 meters. It is divided into Jinkeng Dazhai Red Yao Rice Terraces Scenic Area, Ping'an Zhuang Rice Terraces Scenic Area, and Longji Ancient Zhuangzhai Rice Terraces Scenic Area. The lines are flowing, graceful and smooth; the scale is magnificent and the momentum is magnificent. It is known as the "crown of the terraced fields in the world", which is much more magnificent than the exquisite Tegalalang Rice Terraces in Bali. Longji Rice Terraces Scenic Area is a scenic spot with rice terrace farming culture as the main body, combining natural landscape with ethnic minority cultural landscape. After more than ten years of tourism development, three major scenic areas have been formed: Ping'an Zhuang Rice Terraces Scenic Area; Jinkeng Red Yao Rice Terraces Scenic Area; Longji Ancient Zhuangzhai Rice Terraces Cultural Scenic Area. Each scenic area has its own characteristics: Ping'an Zhuang Terraces Scenic Area is the earliest developed scenic area, where the "Seven Stars and the Moon" scenic spot is located, and the terraces are beautiful and smooth; Jinkeng Hongyao Terraces Scenic Area is surrounded by mountains, resembling a natural tiankeng, and the terraces are majestic. It is a village where Hongyao gather, and was named "China's Classic Village Landscape" in 2007; Longji Ancient Zhuang Village Terraces Cultural Scenic Area, the village's stilt wooden buildings are built against the mountain, and the entire village is located just on the dragon's waist from a distance. The surrounding terraces are like circles of annual rings embracing the village. This is the birthplace of Guangxi Beizhuang and the representative of Guangxi's "stone carving culture". Everything here is so primitive and simple. There are still seven houses that are hundreds of years old in the village, and the earliest one has a history of more than 150 years. Longji Ancient Zhuang Village was listed as a national ecological (community) museum demonstration site by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage in 2011. Currently, a century-old house and the museum exhibition hall are open to the public free of charge. In addition to the above three scenic areas, there are also many folk customs tourist villages: Jinzhu Zhuang Village, which is rated as "China's Scenic Village", Huangluo Yao Village, "the world's first long-haired village", and Xiaozhai Village and Zhonglu Village will soon be opened. The harmonious and peaceful terraced scenery and the ecological environment of human settlements that are not in competition with the world attract more Chinese and foreign tourists to come for leisure and vacation. People are away from the hustle and bustle of the city, eat and live in farmers' homes, release stress, get close to nature, and truly integrate into the "pastoral" life, becoming the first choice for Chinese and foreign tourists to Guilin.
Best season: All seasons. The scenery of Longji Rice Terraces changes with the seasons. In early spring, the water-filled terraces reflect the sky, like overlapping silver ribbons; in summer, the green rice seedlings roll in the wind to form green waves; in autumn, the mountains are covered with gold, the terraces are like golden steps, and the peaks surrounded by the terraces are like golden pagodas. Both spring and autumn are suitable for photography; in mid-winter, the terraces and the village are covered in silver, and the fairy tale world of ice sculptures and jade is embedded in them.
The drivable road in Longji was only developed in the past two years. If you don't live there, you can't drive up and can only walk. I heard before that there is a service that specializes in helping to carry luggage from the foot of the mountain, charging a few dozen to a hundred yuan. Because the hotel we chose this time can drive directly up, I didn't know that this service does not exist now.
If you are looking for a budget trip, you can also take the bus from Guilin. Of course, the price is that you have to walk a lot of the way, and you need to take the sightseeing bus in the scenic area. Students who are not afraid of the hassle can give it a try.
When you are in the terraced fields, girls who like taking photos should remember to change into flat shoes. The road is paved with uneven stones, and high-heeled shoes are a double test of the shoes and personal stability.
When the terraced fields turn dusk, all the scenery is covered with a golden filter, and photographers with cameras start to rush to grab the sunset position excitedly.
After dinner, I went to look at the dark terraced fields to digest the food. There were very faint dots of light. As expected, this is still a village without light pollution. I specifically asked the driver if there were times when the lights were on. The driver said that during some festivals there would be torches all over the mountains, and only then would you be able to enjoy the night view. I just don’t know if I’ll be lucky enough to see this grand occasion next time I visit.
The distance was blurry in the morning and the air was filled with the smell of wet mountain fog.
When passing by the terraced fields, everyone in the car screamed. White mist slowly slid down along the ridges of the terraced fields. The terraced fields, which were still beautiful yesterday, became more than twice as beautiful in the fairy-like aura.
Although the time exceeded our expectations, it did not stop us from stopping halfway, where we got out of the car and started taking a lot of photos with our SLR and mobile phone.
My friend went there at the end of September. The green terraces were so beautiful! Under his recommendation, we decided to go see the yellow terraces. Unfortunately, we were two days late. The terraces started to harvest rice the weekend before we arrived. I heard from a shop owner that it is usually best to come in mid-to-late September, and the rice will be harvested after the National Day.
The scenic area is really big. It is 23km from the entrance to the innermost Jinkeng Terraces. It was about 12:30 when we arrived at the entrance of Longji Jinkeng Terraces. We got off the bus and transferred to the hotel's free shuttle van (it is recommended to inform the driver of the hotel early on the bus, so that the hotel shuttle van will be waiting in the parking lot in advance). When you are on the bus, you need to buy a scenic spot ticket for 80 RMB. If you need to store large luggage, the driver will stop at a small storage store on the way (30 RMB per piece, unlimited storage days).
It was a pity that we didn't get to take photos of the terraced fields, but I found that with the reeds as a backdrop, it was great to take photos of the mountain scenery, especially the labor of the golden autumn harvest. (However, after the rice was harvested, there was thick smoke from burning grass... This was quite choking. At first I thought it was the smoke from cooking.) Because the rice in the terraced fields had been harvested, many paths were opened up. We accidentally left the main tourist walking path halfway and crawled in the rice fields for a while. Fortunately, a local laboring aunt pointed out the way again.
There are relatively few shuttle buses to Longji Rice Terraces and the time is fixed, so I booked a car rental at Guilin Airport. It was very cost-effective at 100 a day. When I booked the hotel the day before, I compared several villages in the scenic area and finally chose the village of Longsheng Jinkeng [Tiantou Village]. The terraced view inn "Longsheng Jinkeng Hotel" with a price of 150 yuan a night is very cost-effective and highly recommended! ! I was greeted by an aunt in Miao costumes. Although it is called a hotel, the houses here are all authentic wooden houses, retaining the style of Miao villages. The three-story pure wooden house will make a familiar "creaking" sound when walking on the floor and steps. The room is decorated very cleanly and has a small balcony. Sitting on the balcony, you can enjoy the undulating terraces, which is also the most satisfactory part of the inn. The location of the hotel can also be said to be very good. It is a little higher on the hillside, between the best sunrise and sunset points, and can be reached on foot. At the beginning, I also compared the inns in Jinding, Laozhai and Xinzhai. After I went there, I found that it was not very convenient to take pictures. Laozhai and Xinzhai are both at the bottom of the valley. If you like taking pictures, I recommend staying in Longsheng Jinkeng.
Longji is in the peak season of autumn harvest in mid-to-late October. There are still many tourists. The scenic area is well managed. There are staff to guide the mountain roads. The food and accommodation are relatively formal. There are many options. There is no overcharging. The overall experience is good. Just ask the price before consumption. I hope Longji will get better and better.
Longji Rice Terraces refer to the rice terraces developed on Longji Mountain, which are generally called Longsheng Rice Terraces. All the rice terraces in Longji Rice Terraces are distributed between 300 and 1,100 meters above sea level, with a maximum slope of 50 degrees. They wind from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain, layer upon layer, with different heights. Their lines are smooth and flowing, and their scale is magnificent.
Longji Rice Terraces is a large-scale rice terrace group in Guilin. From east to west, it is divided into Jinkeng Dazhai Red Yao Rice Terraces, Ping'an Zhuang Rice Terraces, and Longji Ancient Zhuangzhai Rice Terraces. The Zhuang and Yao ethnic groups live in the terraces. If you are interested in photography, or want to experience the natural scenery and cultural customs, you will not be disappointed here.
Check in at Longji Terraces. September is the harvest season. Change buses at the entrance of the scenic area and go up the mountainside. After eating, start climbing. It is not very high. The scenery is the best in this season.
Don't go in January, don't go when it's raining, and don't go when it's foggy. The terraced fields in my imagination stretch for miles, with small hills like snails and big mountains like towers, stacked up and down. Now I can only see the yellow grass in front of me and the rain and fog in the distance. Looking at it for a long time, it's like a kaleidoscope, dizzy.
Longji Terraces refer to the terraces developed on Longji Mountain. In a broad sense, they are called Longsheng Terraces, and in a narrow sense, they are called Longji Terraces. They are located in Longji Mountain, Ping'an Village, Longji Town, Longsheng Autonomous County, Guangxi, 22 kilometers away from the county seat.
The hotel owner recommended us to Ping'an Rice Terraces, where there were fewer people, the road was relatively easy to walk, and the view was wide. We should listen to the advice of the locals, so we took some water and started climbing the mountain! Halfway up, we were in a large area of rice terraces, and we met a child who kept asking "Where are the rice terraces? Why haven't we arrived yet?" Haha, it's just being in the mountains.
Finally we reached the viewing platform. We wanted to take a photo inside the terraced fields, but it was drizzling all the time, so it was difficult to walk inside the terraced fields and stand firmly. It was very beautiful to take photos of the terraced fields from the viewing platform. The layers of terraced fields were surrounded by villages, which was very shocking when we really saw them. When we went there, the terraced fields were still green. The locals said that the golden color during the spring irrigation and autumn harvest was the most beautiful.
The most famous scenic spots of Longji Terraces are the Seven Stars and the Moon and the "Nine Dragons Five Scenic Spots".
The terraced fields built along the mountain ridge are like a giant dragon lying in the clouds, magnificent and beautiful.
It is said that the designer of Galaxy SOHO found inspiration here.
Dragon Ridge, the world's first terraced field, was created by our ancestors who opened up the mountains and created miracles.
Sixty-six square kilometers, magnificent and majestic.
It is a precious world heritage site with unique and beautiful scenery.
Pure, simple and original, the Yao people dance with long hair and graceful posture.
Maybe it's because of the season, I came a little early, so it doesn't look so perfect.
I heard that Longji has different colors in each season. Personally, I think the green in midsummer and the yellow in autumn are more eye-catching.
Longji is beautiful in all seasons. I personally like the green terraces the most. It feels refreshing in the summer. You can also go rafting. Here are some pictures of various styles, including snow scenes.
Longji Rice Terraces are best visited in May and September-October. Although most guides say that the water filling period is from April to May, in fact, the water filling just starts in mid-to-late April and will not be completed until the end of May. Therefore, it depends on the water-filled terraces. It is more appropriate to choose May.
Tour route:
Our browsing route is:
Observation Deck No. 2-Observation Deck No. 3 (Foding Mountain)-Observation Deck No. 1
No. 2 and No. 3 were to visit the same area, but later the locals suggested that we only choose one; because if we walked to both, it would take nearly 2 hours to go back and forth, and it was raining when we set out, and the mountain road was really difficult to climb, so we finally chose to take the cable car back.
If you live near Tiantouzhai of Longji Terraces, it is recommended to walk to Observation Deck No. 2 for 20 minutes.
We arrived at Longji Rice Terraces at the end of July 2018 and stayed there for one night. The scenery is beautiful and unique.
This is the best attraction I visited in Guilin, although I went there at the wrong season!
The weather is great today, it is definitely worth seeing, although the journey is a little far
The terraced fields not far from Guilin require climbing a mountain, but it is not high. The seven stars and the moon on the top of the mountain are very classic.
It is dozens of kilometers away from the city, but the scenery is beautiful and it is worth a visit.
We went to Guilin in April. The temperature difference between morning and night was a bit big. We followed a one-day tour group. We had bamboo rice for lunch. It tasted okay. We took the cable car up the mountain and then walked down the mountain. It was even colder at the top of the mountain. We bought some sweet potatoes and they tasted good. The whole terrace was relatively bare in April, but looking back, the different terrace shapes were all beautiful. We didn't feel tired at all while walking down the mountain.
Jinkeng Dazhai is very shocking. The life of the Yao people is very desirable. Living in the mountains is peaceful and comfortable. I like to eat the corn roasted by the Yao grandma, and I also like bamboo tube rice. When I reached the top of the terraced field, I took a one-way cable car, and then walked down, which was a unique experience.
The terraced fields in February are relatively deserted, with low temperatures and bad weather. However, some of the terraced fields above Jinkeng Dazhai and Tiantouzhai have been irrigated and are worth a look. The other two viewing platforms, Qianceng Tianti and Jinfoding, are relatively worse because of the rapeseed flowers.
Weather factors must be considered. If it is foggy and rainy, you can't see anything.
The first snow of 2018 at Longji Rice Terraces in Guilin, Guangxi
There are many special dishes on the Longji Rice Terraces, such as bamboo tube chicken, bamboo tube rice, and delicious wild vegetables, all of which I have never eaten before. I suggest that you must try more of them. However, according to my guide’s circle of friends these days, the weather is not very good.
The terraced fields are really beautiful, and the view is different in different seasons. There are three viewing platforms from which you can see the terraced fields from different angles. It was not tiring at all to climb them (I don’t know if it was because I was so excited at the time, hahaha). If I have time, I would like to go there again in autumn!
I went to Longji Rice Terraces in mid-October. Because of light rain, the wheat harvesting time was delayed. I was very lucky to encounter the golden terraces, it was so beautiful.
I went there ten years ago. At that time, Longsheng was very pristine, with simple folk customs and natural scenery. I still remember it vividly.
The trip to Longji Rice Terraces was great, but the timing was a bit bad. The rice had been harvested in late November, and it was cloudy, so it didn't look that spectacular. Overall, it was good. I suggest going early.
Longji Rice Terraces on a rainy day
There is a special beauty
We went there in April this year, when the terraces were being irrigated. The scenery of the terraces should be at its most beautiful in spring and autumn, when the right time comes. What more could you ask for?
Unfortunately, the rice had been harvested two days before I arrived, so the view of the terraced fields was discounted. However, we still welcomed many foreign friends. The terraced fields are like chains and belts, surrounding the mountains. The wooden buildings of ethnic minorities are built among these layers of terraced fields.
The management is not good. Private cars are allowed to enter, but the road is narrow and the traffic is immediately blocked. It often takes a long time to wait for the car to go down the mountain. If there is a car accident on the mountain road, I guess everyone will have to camp.
The elderly in my family can't walk very well, so we took the cable car up and down. The cable car is very long and the scenery is nice.
It is really spectacular, the crystallization of the working people. You can go there during the spring irrigation period or the autumn when the rice is ripe.
According to the villagers here, the mountain is called "Dragon's Back" because when the sun rises in the morning, the sunlight gradually shines down. When viewed from a distance, the terraces look like scales, making the steep Dragon's Back Mountain look like a vivid, glittering dragon.
I have seen the Wuyuan terraces in April, and they are different from here. The rapeseed terraces in Wuyuan are beautiful, but here they are another kind of magnificent beauty. I really want to come and see them again in May when the terraces are irrigated.
Walking on the ridge of the terraced fields is quite dangerous. The terraced fields are plowed for growing rice. They are very beautiful with a little moisture. The villagers' wooden buildings are clean and beautiful from a distance.
The route we chose was from far to near, namely Jinkeng Dazhai - Ping'an Village - Longji Ancient Zhuang Village. So we drove directly to the ticket office (visitor center) of Longji Terraces Scenic Area to buy tickets, the ticket price was 95 yuan/person, and the car entered the scenic area for 60 yuan/vehicle.
Longji Rice Terraces are regarded as the hometown of seasonal rice terraces. It is really as beautiful as its reputation when you are there.
I went to Longji Rice Terraces in 2012. I took the photos with a small compact camera. Now I see that the resolution is very low. This should be the season for water, but the photos are not very beautiful.
The valley was quiet and dark, with faint lights dotting the sky. The sky above the eastern hilltops was gradually brightening, with gray clouds slowly moving.
Dragon's Back is full of artistic charm, with winding water, crisscrossing ridges, and exquisite and magnificent lines that stretch out in a winding manner, which is both elegant and unrestrained.
Facing the rising sun, breathing in the fresh air, and gazing at the beautiful scenery of the terraced fields, it is so relaxing and pleasant!
In the summer, the Dragon's Back is like a chain of terraced fields winding from the foot of the mountain to the top, with green rice waves of different heights and layers stacked up, which is extremely beautiful.
Take a bus from Guilin to Longji. The road condition is good. Zhuang and Yao ancestors opened up the mountains and cultivated fields. The blue road is blue and green.
The land reclaimed for survival has inadvertently become a beautiful sight.
Most of the houses in Longji are still in the form of stilt houses, blending in with the mountains.
The ancient and elegant scenery gives people a sense of returning to nature. On the way back, we stopped by to see the Zhuang ethnic terraces in Pingan Village.
Although it is not the most beautiful season for terraced fields, the simple rural life and rich ethnic minority customs are still very beautiful.
The long history of terraced fields is peaceful and elegant, and is also what you see and gain during the journey.
Longsheng Wuyou Shanshe B&B 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽 Don't stay here, the service is so bad. We arrived at 8 o'clock in the evening, but they still haven't come to pick us up. They just told us to check the GPS. But no matter how I look at it, the network there is not good, and we can't check out, so forget it.
I think the best time to visit Longji Rice Terraces is mid-October, when the rice turns yellow and looks even more spectacular.
The terraced fields are really spectacular and beautiful! And there are different views throughout the year, which is worth a visit! However, the planning and management of the scenic area is really not satisfactory. For such a large area, the map is unclear and the signs are not clear, which makes it difficult to make reasonable and accurate route planning in advance. It is easy to go the wrong way and waste time. Fire protection is indeed a big problem.
There are no road signs in the Longji Terraces Scenic Area. From Tiantouzhai to the No. 1 viewing platform, just take the Jinkeng Hotel! Then walk to the right and you will arrive!!! Everyone must see this, after all, the mountain road is really difficult to walk.
When we entered the ticket office at the intersection of Longji Town, we started to charge an entrance fee of 100 yuan. People with Guangdong household registration had a 10 yuan discount. Cars with more than 7 seats were not allowed to enter the Longji Terraces Scenic Area, so our 18-seat minivan could only be parked in the parking lot.
From the scenic spot ticket office to the cableway, you need to buy a 40-yuan scenic spot shuttle bus, which takes about 50 minutes to get to the cable car station.
Longsheng Rice Terraces are not unfamiliar to people who like photography or traveling, but some people still cannot distinguish between Longsheng Rice Terraces or Longji Rice Terraces. Longsheng is a county in Guilin, while Longji is a town under Longsheng County. Therefore, the so-called Longsheng Rice Terraces are also Longji Rice Terraces.
Building farmland on this nearly vertical hillside is truly a work of art. Curved lines extend up and down, as if connected to another hillside, like undulating waves or dancing ribbons.
Longsheng Rice Terraces is now a 4A scenic spot, but the extremely high ticket revenue has not brought more wealth to the villagers here. The elderly woman makes a living by making and selling rice dumplings every day.
The recommended route is: Guzhuang Village - walk for about 30 minutes - Ping'an Terraces - pass by Huangluo Ancient Village - Jinkeng (the largest and most spectacular) - Xiaozhai [recommended on non-holidays]
Holiday recommendations: Ping An - Jinkeng or Jinkeng - Xiaozhai [Jinkeng is worth visiting, after all, the harvest season has arrived]
It is recommended to walk up the mountain and then take the cable car down the mountain to overlook the entire terraced field. The line for the cable car is very large and it may take 1 or 2 hours.
It is recommended to walk to the No. 3 viewing platform first. On the way up the mountain, you can enjoy the whole terraced field scenery. This route is slightly more difficult than walking to the No. 1 viewing platform. If you are older, it is recommended to choose one of them and take the cable car.
The mountain is not high and it takes about 1 hour to walk, stop and take photos.
Standing on a high place and looking around, I feel like I have arrived at the edge of the clouds, a small town at the edge of the clouds, me, the clouds, the sun, and you.
The Longji Rice Terraces are a world wonder that was created by the ancestors of the Yao and Zhuang ethnic groups over thousands of years with generations of sweat.
The Longji Rice Terraces are beautiful in all four seasons, each with its own merits. What is particularly beautiful is that in spring (roughly mid-June) when the terraces are irrigated just after transplanting rice seedlings, they are like a mirror of the sky. In autumn, before the autumn harvest, the terraces are golden with distinct layers. For the sake of the tourism industry, the government specifically requests that the harvest be delayed until after the National Day Golden Week.
It was foggy and rainy when I went there, so I didn't see anything.
It is more convenient to take a day trip because it is a bit far and the time is uncertain. It was drizzling when I went there. Unfortunately, it was foggy when I reached the top of the mountain. You can choose a single or double cable car. The scenery on the double-decker cable car is also very good. Queue up to change the small car in the scenic area. Don't worry, they drive many times every day. The driver is very familiar with the road conditions. He will take you to the Yao Village for a tour. Don't watch the performance. There are bamboo tube rice, bamboo tube chicken and so on next to it. I really don't like them. I just ate a bite and went to take the cable car.
The entire scenic area is deep in the mountains. The bus will first arrive at the entrance of the scenic area. The ticket seller will get on the bus to sell tickets. You can buy discounted tickets directly by showing relevant documents. After passing the ticket gate, it took about another hour to reach the Jinkeng parking lot. There is a cable car on the left hand side of the entrance that goes directly to the Golden Buddha Peak.
After passing the entrance, there should be a village with many restaurants and small attics. When you see the large terraced fields, don't be anxious or excited. Be sure to pay attention to the road signs, otherwise you may starve to death and still not be able to reach your place.
After passing the village, we walked a long way up the mountain road and saw bamboo forests and heard the sound of water, but we could no longer see rice fields. The end of the mountain road is bounded by this pavilion, which will open your eyes again and be super shocking!
The recommendation index of Longji Terraces is 3 stars, mainly because the journey is long and it takes 2-3 hours one way. If there is a traffic jam, it will take longer. If you don’t have much time, you can choose to set off. We wanted to have plenty of time for the chartered car, so we finally chose to go.
The view at the viewing platform was beautiful. We rented a set of ethnic costumes. It was really cheap, 10 yuan per set, and there was no time limit. It was the first time for us to wear ethnic costumes, so we had a lot of fun taking photos. We met many foreigners who came to take photos with us, and then there was a big ethnic gathering. I want to say that my face was really stiff from laughing. Another thing I have to mention is that there are really many foreigners in Guilin. The number of foreigners we met in Guilin is more than the number I have met in all these years. I had the illusion that I was in a foreigner street.
It is best to go to the terraced field cable car in the morning when there are not many people, otherwise you will encounter groups and have to queue for a long time.
With its rich sense of lines, it has become a famous photography destination. As a photographer, I must not miss it. I must record the works drawn by nature and hardworking people. The best time to take pictures of terraces is in the early morning and dusk. The terraces under the sunrise and sunset are more three-dimensional. There are Yao and Zhuang villages scattered among the terraces. Many owners have transformed their homes into farmhouses, which not only provide comfortable accommodation, but also allow you to taste local farm dishes and experience ethnic customs. The important thing is that the price is not expensive at all. Longji escapes from the city and finds the quietest life in Longji Terraces.
I just felt that I was very friendly with the people in the scenic area, and I was very happy. The folk customs here made me feel very familiar. When I left, the drizzling rain wet the road, and I felt as if I was walking in my hometown. It seemed that I would come back soon. This place is really like my hometown. If the villagers recruited a son-in-law and chose me, even if I was thousands of miles away from home and no matter how much I missed my hometown, I would stay without hesitation.
The viewing platform on the top of the mountain is very suitable for watching the sunrise. Unfortunately, the weather was not good. The clouds in the sky were very thick, so I didn't take pictures of the sunrise. However, as the sky became brighter and brighter, the sun shone through the constantly changing clouds, casting a golden glow over the terraces. The scene was very beautiful. The viewing platform is the best place to appreciate the terraces. However, the most important thing on the mountain is that there is no water source, so the water conservancy here is quite complete, and the ditches are connected by bamboo tubes.
You can rent Yao costumes at the observation deck on the mountain for 30 yuan a set, and you can take as many photos as you want.
We walked along the way, enjoying the scenery. Every shot we took turned out to be a painting. I don't mind if I have clumsy hands. It will be more beautiful in a while. The rice wine here is delicious and the innkeeper is super nice. Although the weather is cold and there was a little incident on the way, I took the wrong road on the way to see the scenery and fell into a mud pit [cover face][cover face][cover face] But it didn't affect my mood. Haha, I hope the weather will be good tomorrow so I can watch the sunrise [naughty]
This is a very large scenic area, mainly divided into three terraces, Longji Ancient Zhuang Village Terraces in Longji Village, Ping'an Zhuang Terraces in Ping'an Village and Jinkeng Terraces in Dazhai Village. Most people will choose Ping'an Terraces and Jinkeng Terraces to play. Tourists can drive to the gate of each village, and then they need to rely on the strength of their legs. There are also rickshaws at Ping'an Terraces.
Longji Rice Terraces is a broad concept, which actually includes 4 scenic spots, and the ticket is 95 yuan. The scenic spots are far apart.
Come see what I took!
The first two pictures are taken in Ping'an Village, and the last two pictures are taken in Jinkeng Village.
In early September, the terraces are still green, but in late September, they will turn golden. You can see the terraces yourself. They are beautiful 365 days a year, even if the changes are insignificant.
The place where the sun shines still looks golden~
1. Longji Rice Terraces are far away from Guilin city, and there is a winding mountain road, so you must prepare motion sickness medicine. The mosquitoes on the mountain are super invincible, so you must prepare <>. The medical conditions on the mountain are not very good, so bring your usual gastrointestinal medicine and cold medicine.
2. The specialty dishes on the mountain are spring water chicken and wooden barrel rice, but the prices are relatively high, so we basically eat them in the B&B where we stay. The taste is really average, but the chickens we see on the mountain are all free-range.
3. Get off the special bus at Tiantouzhai. You can take the cable car to Jinfoding from Tiantouzhai. We stayed in the Panorama Building. We could walk up the mountain or share a ride for a distance. The price is 30 yuan per person. The key is that you still have to walk up the mountain after sharing a ride. You can ask locals to help you carry your luggage, but the price is also very expensive. The way we walked down the mountain took about 40 minutes with the luggage. The road condition was very good, but there were only two of us carrying suitcases and walking down the mountain from the Panorama Building to Tiantouzhai.
4. If you are not used to the local diet, you should prepare dry food in advance. After all, it is expensive and difficult to buy in the mountains.
5. Be sure to respect local ethnic customs. After all, it is a minority area and many of them are different from ours, so we must pay great attention to them!
6. I originally thought that the temperature difference on the mountain would be very large, so I brought thick clothes with me. However, it turned out to be just the opposite. It was not as cold as I imagined. However, I still had to be careful. After all, we were going up the mountain and had to get up early to watch the sunrise, so it was necessary to bring thick clothes.
7. You should book your tickets in advance for the bus going back and forth to the city, so as to avoid being unable to get a bus. After all, the special bus departs on time and the shuttle bus is limited. If you take the shuttle bus by yourself, it will be very troublesome and you will have to transfer many times.
8. The three specialties of Longji Terraces are chili pepper, cloud tea and water wine. I don’t know how they are, after all, I haven’t bought any, so I can’t make any comments.
9. The beauty of Longji Rice Terraces is available 365 days a year, and the sunrise and sunset are all arranged by God.
The terraced fields are divided into three areas. Dakeng is the farthest from the entrance of the scenic area. There are not many tourists in the tour group. It is recommended to stay in the mountains (homestays, youth hostels and hotels are available), which can easily reach the three major attractions. Accommodation is calculated by bed, and the food is OK. The golden terraced fields in golden autumn are unique. There are more tour groups in Ping'an, and the scenery is worse than that in Dakeng. There is a small path from Dakeng to Ping'an for hiking, which takes about a day. In fact, Longji Terraces are suitable for staying there for a few days. It is quiet and leisurely, and it is completely a mountain home.
The Longji Rice Terraces are actually very large, with fascinating natural scenery and simple folk customs.
It is much more convenient to go up and down the cable car now, but I always feel that you must hike to Longji. As you climb up the bluestone road, the terraces in your eyes will change with your own curves. Looking down at the terraces, you can see them in a panoramic view, magnificent and majestic. If you have enough time, it is recommended to stay in the terraces for one night to slowly experience its charming scenery.
When talking about rice fields, the first thing that comes to mind is probably Jay Chou's song about chasing dragonflies barefoot in the fields. In Guilin, Guangxi, the local people's yearning for the fragrance of rice led to the creation of the eye-popping Longji Rice Terraces!
When visiting Longji Rice Terraces, it is best to stay for a few more days to slowly experience the customs and culture of the local people and slowly appreciate this great masterpiece of art!
Here, the scenery is different in each season. It rains a lot in spring, and the fields are full of vitality after being washed by the spring rain. In summer, the fields are like a green ocean, swaying gracefully with the wind in the valley. In autumn, everything is golden, which is the color of harvest. In midwinter, there is another different scenery, with layers of white snow pushed away, which is also very beautiful.
Looking down from the observation deck, the terraced fields are like a ladder to heaven, and the layers are like a giant dragon spiraling down, which is magnificent and spectacular. In recent years, a cableway has been built, and "lazy" people can take it directly to the "Golden Buddha Peak" to enjoy the magical view of the whole mountain sitting like Maitreya Buddha, but the process of less than 20 minutes is definitely not enough to deeply feel the magnificence of the terraced fields.
During the day, the blue sky, white clouds and greenery make the terraced fields a beautiful picture of nature; at night, the sky is lit up by stars, twinkling one by one, and the villages are dotted with the mountain breeze in the ears, as if time has been frozen. This is very good.
There are mountains in Longji, the mountains are high mountains, and there are fields on the high mountains, the fields are terraced fields. The high mountains are the high mountains we are familiar with, but the terraced fields are the terraced fields we are not familiar with.
Although Longji Rice Terraces are rice fields where farmers work on a daily basis, they are a national 5A-level scenic spot. There are several ways to enjoy the area: 1. Individual one-day tour: Ping'an Zhuang Rice Terraces. 2. Group one-day tour: Jinkeng Hongyao Rice Terraces. The group fee I found online before departure was 140 yuan per person, including 100 yuan for round-trip transportation from Guilin to Jinkeng Hongyao Rice Terraces, 95 yuan for tickets, 110 yuan for the upper and lower double ropes, and lunch is provided by yourself. It is still cost-effective to sign up for this group, without shopping. 3. Two-day and three-day tour: Dazhai Jinkeng Hongyao Rice Terraces--Ping'an Zhuang Rice Terraces--Longji Ancient Zhuangzhai Rice Terraces.
Travel thousands of miles just to see the terraced fields.
When I looked up from the mountainside, the layers of terraces that looked like a thousand layers of pancakes made me feel respectful.
Because the road to the scenic spot is not easy to walk, and the direction is also subtle. The distance between the villages is not close, and it will be more difficult to walk on foot. If there is a guide with you on a one-day tour, the experience will be much better.
Looking closely at the terraced fields after the rain, they are so clean, and the rice is growing so well. The clouds in the distance are so close and white. The sky is so blue. The sunshine is so good. The air is so fresh. Longji is so beautiful.
I had planned not to go down the mountain so quickly, but my knees started to hurt again after going up the mountain. My knee injuries from long-distance running were still annoying. If I continued on Dragon's Back, I would have to climb up and down the stairs. After thinking it over, I decided to go. I have to say it was a pity.
The scenery is really beautiful. It was cloudy when I came, but it was still beautiful. It's a pity that China-TravelNote can't upload videos. I took a lot of videos with my DJI.
It was the wrong season when I went there, and the planting hadn't started yet, so I couldn't see the water terraces. But now tourism is more about agriculture, I guess
After a bumpy ride to the destination, and with the midday sun shining brightly, I was too weak to go up the mountain, so I decided to take the cable car up the mountain. The cable car is divided into one-way and two-way trips, 100 yuan for a round trip and half the price for a one-way trip. The one-way ticket can be used whether going up or down the mountain, but of course it can only be used once. The cable car journey takes about 25 minutes. When I arrived at the viewing platform at the top of the mountain, I was immediately shocked by the scenery in front of me, and the fatigue of the ride was swept away. The Longji Jinkeng Terraces are surrounded by mountains on all sides, resembling a natural tiankeng, with a majestic spirit and a large scale. This is probably how the name Jinkeng came about. The ancestors who opened up the mountains and cultivated fields in Longji certainly did not expect that the terraces they opened with blood and sweat would be a great masterpiece of art, and the terraces have become a charming and chic world of curves. Coiling from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain, it forms a magnificent landscape of "small hills like snails and big mountains like towers". Because they are built on the mountain and adapted to local conditions, the largest of these terraces is only one acre, and the smallest can only have two or three rows of seedlings. Therefore, the density is particularly high, and the layers of terraces are like thousands of stairs going straight into the clouds. The layers of terraces are like scales, decorating a continuous and steep Longji Mountain into a vivid and shining dragon. Standing on the observation deck and looking around, you can only feel that the terraces under your feet are rising like a tide, rushing in with an overwhelming momentum, forming a vertical and horizontal opening and closing, hearty and dripping terrace group, forming a terrace world that flaunts power and beauty, presenting a rough beauty, which is shocking. Looking up from the bottom, thousands of ridges form a three-dimensional five-line score. The earthen hills on the terraces, like the notes jumping on the five-line score, play beautiful music, interpret the music of the earth, and form the world's largest three-dimensional pastoral symphony. The terrace tour time is about one and a half hours. The best scenery can be seen almost at the observation deck. You can return to the foot of the mountain along the path between the terraces. However, the weather in Guilin in late summer and early autumn is not very cool. If you want to return, it is recommended to take the cable car. After visiting the terraced fields, it was past lunchtime. 1:30 was the time when the sun was at its hottest. If you didn't prepare in advance, there were many shops on the viewing platform, but the prices were a little expensive. In addition, you should pay special attention to the vendors selling honey, which was wild, but generally not real. Some stalls displayed Yuan Datou (silver dollars), but those were not important. However, the grilled fish was really good. The fresh fish caught from the mountain spring had no earthy smell in the mouth. A bowl of cold osmanthus powder was a perfect match!
I accidentally saw a group of photos related to Longji Terraces on the Internet. The terraces under the blue sky and white clouds were photographed with a very layered sense. So, I decided to visit Longji Terraces with my friends. It was more than 14 o'clock in the afternoon when we arrived at Longji Terraces. The two most essential viewing points of Longji Terraces are called No. 1 and No. 2. Viewing point No. 1 is above the east side of the village, with fewer tourists and more remote. No. 2 is relatively close, but there are more tourists. There is a flat road connecting viewing points 1 and 2. As a viewing platform, the scenery here is naturally very good. The surrounding terraces and the villages in the distance are clearly visible and blend perfectly. Especially here you can actually see the most essential part of Longji Terraces-Seven Stars with the Moon. Seven small mountaintop terraces and a large mountaintop terrace are perfectly integrated together, as if seven stars and a bright moon.
We went to the Jinkeng Rice Terraces. The end of March is not a good time to see the rice terraces, because it is not time to plant rice yet, the fields are bare and the colors are a bit bleak. But fortunately, the weather was clear, and there were rape flowers swaying in the wind in the mountains. Although they did not cover the mountains, they were also very charming. We chose to take the cable car up the mountain and then walk down the mountain. It turned out that this choice was correct, taking into account both time and everyone's physical condition.
