Zhenyuan Ancient City - Zhusheng Bridge

It was first built during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty and was named Wuxi Bridge. Tian Daya, the envoy of Sinan, the chieftain of Zhenyuan, and He Hui, the local governor of Zhenyuan, requested the court to build it.
Due to the internal feud of the Tian chieftain family, the chieftains were changed to civilians, and the bridge construction was abandoned halfway. Since then, it has collapsed and been repaired many times.
The last restoration was in 1723, which was the birthday of Emperor Kangxi. To celebrate the emperor’s birthday, Wuxi Bridge was renamed Zhusheng Bridge.
The scenery on both sides of Zhusheng Bridge is charming and pleasant, and the night view is especially beautiful.

Zhusheng Bridge was originally named "Xiqiao". Later, it was renamed "Zhusheng Bridge" because it was used to celebrate the birthday of Emperor Kangxi. The bridge is 135m long, 8.5m wide and 14m high. The bridge is made entirely of bluestone. The piers are from the Ming Dynasty, but the bridge body is from the Qing Dynasty. It was first built in the second year of Hongwu in the early Ming Dynasty. It is said that the bridge was destroyed several times due to mountain torrents in the Fuyang River at that time. Therefore, it was not completed until the first year of Yongzheng (1723).

Zhusheng Bridge, commonly known as the Old Bridge, was built in the early years of the Hongwu reign. It is a seven-arch stone bridge running east-west. Historically, it was a vital and essential bridge on the ancient post road between Hunan, Guizhou and Yunnan.

Zhenyuan Ancient Town is also a famous town in Southeast Guizhou, located in Zhenyuan County on the banks of the Wuyang River.

Zhenyuan is an ancient Miao town with a long history of more than 2,000 years. The ancient town is located on the main road into Guizhou, with the Wuyang River running through the town in an "S" shape and surrounded by mountains.

Zhenyuan is rich in historical sites and natural resources, and many ancient buildings are well preserved.

In the ancient city of Zhenyuan, there is a Wuyang River running through it, and the water is green. There are several bridges in the city, and the most beautiful one is the Zhusheng Bridge. Several scenic spots in the ancient city of Zhenyuan are very close to the Zhusheng Bridge. The entrances to the Qinglong Cave and Shiping Mountain are on both sides of the Zhusheng Bridge.

Personally, I think the best place to take a photo with Zhusheng Bridge is on the stone road on the side close to Qinglong Cave.

Zhusheng Bridge links two scenic spots in Zhenyuan Ancient City, Shiping Mountain and Qinglong Cave, and is one of the landmark buildings in Zhenyuan Ancient City. There is also a Kuixing Pavilion on it, and the couplets are also very well written. The lintel is "Heshan Zhushi", and the couplets on both sides are: "Sweeping away the smoke of Wuyang River, the Han envoys floated out on rafts; splitting the heavy post road, the Burmese rode elephants across the bridge". This bridge has a history of hundreds of years and is built on the Wuyang River.

Zhusheng Bridge, originally named Wuxi Bridge, spans Wuyang River. It was first built during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty and renamed Zhusheng Bridge during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. This bridge is the only way for students from Yunnan and Guizhou to go to Beijing for the imperial examinations. There is a three-story pavilion with a green tile roof on the bridge, named "Kuixing Pavilion", which means that the students will be on the list of successful candidates and win the first prize. Local people also call it "Zhuangyuan Building".

Zhusheng Bridge was first built during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty and was named Wuxi Bridge. Between the third and fourth holes of Zhusheng Bridge, there is a three-story, three-layered, octagonal, and green-tile-roofed attic named "Kuixing Pavilion", also known as "Zhuangyuan Building". Zhusheng Bridge is located in the east of Zhenyuan County, Guizhou Province, and crosses Wuyang River. It is also known as Zhuangyuan Bridge. Zhu was first built in the 21st year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1388) and was named Wuxi Bridge. Zhenyuan Tusi Sinan Kuanwei Envoy Tian Daya and Zhenyuan Tuzhizhou He Huitong petitioned the court to build it. Later, due to the internal feud of Tian Tusi family, the Tusi was changed to Han people, and the bridge construction was abandoned halfway. After that, it was rebuilt in the 37th year of Wanli (1609) and completed in the first year of Chongzhen (1628). It took about 250 years, and it collapsed and was repaired many times. The last repair was completed in the first year of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty (1723). When one of the repairs was completed, it was the birthday of Emperor Kangxi. In order to celebrate the birthday of the emperor, Wuxi Bridge was renamed Zhusheng Bridge, and it has been basically intact to this day.

Zhusheng Bridge is one of the attractions. It looks much better at night than during the day. The lights on the bridge will slowly change color at night, and many tourists will go boating on the river.

By Listen to the sound of the sea |

The night view is centered on the Zhusheng Bridge, connecting the city and the Acropolis. The Zhusheng Bridge at night is colorfully lit. The lights on the bridge are reflected on the river, which is very beautiful!

During the day, sometimes a small boat would come into view, passing under the bridge with a humming sound, and then gradually going away, leaving only a trace of water. The water in the river is flowing, sparkling with green light~~ The quaint and charming Zhusheng Bridge.

Zhusheng Bridge, formerly known as "Xi Bridge", is a landmark building on the Wuyang River. It was first built during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 600 years.

Zhusheng Bridge is undoubtedly the most beautiful at night. Under the reflection of different lights, it shows different colors and is extremely dazzling. What makes Zhusheng Bridge unique is that there is an exquisitely designed and antique Meixing Pavilion built on the bridge. The entire ancient stone bridge, the towering Shiping Mountain behind it, and the reflection of the clear river under the bridge complement each other. It is one of the artistic treasures with great wisdom and cultural value in the history of ancient Chinese bridges.

By Henry[Cheng Cheng] |

In the night, the lights on the bridge kept changing, and the reflections were set against the Wuyang River, which was very charming. We specially booked a river view room at a high price. Under the night, the Zhusheng Bridge under the changing colorful lights was particularly beautiful. In the early morning, looking from afar, the Zhusheng Bridge was set against the Wuyang River, which was very peaceful.

It was first built during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty. Speaking of this bridge, it is also related to Zhang Sanfeng. It is said that when the bridge was built, they encountered a problem when they were digging the piers: the silt at the bottom of the river was too thick and they could not dig to the bottom. The stonemasons thought hard but could not come up with a good solution, so the project stopped for many days. Zhang Sanfeng saw it, but he laughed and said, "The foundation is dug like this, it's already good, but there is something missing to pad it underneath." Zhang Sanfeng found a bamboo basket, went to the street to buy a basket of tofu, and came to the bridge foundation at night. He sprinkled some tofu into each foundation pit and muttered something. The next day, everyone went to the construction site and looked at the foundation pit. They were shocked! It turned out that the bottom of the foundation pit was a whole piece of large bluestone, which was stable. The bridge piers were built on the bluestone, so people in Zhenyuan said that the Zhusheng Bridge was the bottom of Zhang Sanfeng's tofu pad.

Not only the Zhusheng Bridge, the entire Zhenyuan Ancient Town gave me a good feeling. The scenery was nice both during the day and at night. Although it has a bar street and pedestrian street like most ancient towns in the country, its scenery still has its own uniqueness.

There is a local bus with wooden seats. You can park your car in the nearby parking lot. There are fruit shops, small restaurants and supermarkets outside the parking lot. The prices are not high. It is the only way to Qinglong Cave. It is quiet at night. You can also climb Shiping Mountain for free before 7 am.

Originally, the recommendation index of Zhenyuan is that it is worth visiting. It seems illogical that you must visit Zhusheng Bridge when you arrive at it, but if you arrive in Zhenyuan, Zhusheng Bridge is a must for Zhenyuan. On this side of the bridge is the Wuyang River and the small bridges, flowing water and houses beside the river, and on the other side of the bridge is the Wuyang River and its green mountains and clear waters. So, since you are here, of course you have to visit Zhusheng Bridge. Moreover, the layout of the ancient city is very interesting. On one side are ancient buildings, on the other side are various snacks, various "A Bite of China", and various urban life atmospheres, all of which are connected through Zhusheng Bridge. It depends on the town. To feel Zhenyuan, you must pass the Zhusheng Bridge. I checked my mobile hard drive and found that I should have deleted the photos I took on the bridge because they were too ugly. Well, there is a picture where you can see the Zhusheng Bridge. When I went there, the Wuyang River was just draining water. It is normal that there is little water. You should not go there after the sixth day of the first lunar month of the Spring Festival. However, many people set off fireworks in the Wuyang River during the Spring Festival. After setting off, they throw the discarded fireworks into the river. I really don’t understand this. As a Zhenyuan citizen, shouldn’t we take better care of and protect our own small piece of land? So they drain the water and clean up the garbage in the river after the sixth day of the first lunar month.

There are only two bridges in this place. You can see them when you first enter the ancient town, but when we went there, the bridge was under construction and was completely blocked, so we couldn't see anything.

This bridge is the final stop of our tour of the ancient town. We were then allowed to move around freely for an hour. There are many bars and a public toilet next to the bridge. After reading the photos in the reviews, this bridge is quite beautiful and colorful at night.

I booked a river view room at a high price, expecting the beautiful night view. But! Pay attention, pay attention! There was no light on at night! The Zhusheng Bridge was pitch black! The bridge tower was completely hidden in the night! The dry and exposed riverbed! The Qinglong Cave was closed! Everywhere was under repair. Disappointed! I don't know when the beautiful scenery will reappear. Friends who have plans in the near future should be careful.
