The Nanshan Sea Guanyin Statue is 108 meters high, standing on the Diamond Island on the sea. It is known as a "world-class, century-class" Buddhist project.
The three statues are in an integrated form, with a solemn appearance, and they stand on a lotus throne with 108 petals. Under the lotus throne is a Vajra platform, and inside the Vajra platform is the Yuantong Palace.
Jingangzhou is connected to the land by Puji Bridge. On the other side of Puji Bridge is Guanyin Square and theme parks on both sides of the square.
In addition, high-tech techniques are fully utilized to create night lighting scenes, fully displaying Guanyin cultural and artistic effects such as "Buddha's Light Shining Everywhere" and "Walking on the Sea".

I am from Hainan and I always choose to stay at Nanshan Leisure Club every time I go to Sanya. The price is cheap in the off-season. The sea view suite is only more than 400 yuan, and the sea view big bed is 699 yuan during the week. You can burn the first incense at night and participate in the morning class. Basically, you can visit the whole scenic area by 9 o'clock in the morning, then go back to sleep and check out! Perfect
In 1993, the State Council Religious Affairs Bureau and the Hainan People's Government approved the construction of Sanya Nanshan Temple, and built a 108-meter-high statue of Guanyin in the sea in front of the temple, which belongs to the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone. This statue was built by the Hainan Sanya Nanshan Merit Foundation. It is a combination of three statues, majestic and spectacular, and is the largest statue in the world.
The Jingzao Project is known as a "world-class, century-class" Buddhist project for its grand scale, extraordinary significance, and rich Buddhist background. The six characters "Nanshan Sea Guanyin" were written by Mr. Zhao Puchu, former president of the Buddhist Association, in 1995. The location of the Guanyin statue was also selected by Mr. Zhao Puchu. After completion in 2005, gold foil was used to cover the lotus seat of Guanyin. In 1999, on the 19th day of the 9th lunar month, Nanshan held a grand opening ceremony for the construction of the "Nanshan Sea Guanyin". The project took 6 years and was completed on April 15, 2005. A grand opening ceremony was held on April 24, 2005 (the 16th day of the 3rd lunar month, the birthday of Guanyin Bodhisattva).
Since we started sightseeing almost at noon that day, we encountered backlighting. No matter how we took pictures of the Sea Goddess from the front, it was always dark. The side passages were blocked, so it was almost impossible to take pictures. However, we went to Nanshan Temple later and were able to see the Goddess of Mercy.
Now you can visit the interior of the Guanyin Hall, but there are a lot of people queuing up. Fortunately, you can move slowly, so it doesn't take too long. The interior is still worth visiting, it's very beautiful
You can also climb up to hold your feet
The statue of Guanyin at sea is 108 meters high, with three sides showing different forms of Guanyin. In the past, one could directly enter the Yuantong Hall and pray for free, but now it seems that one needs to pay extra money for incense.
Very good, worth a visit, immersive and sacred.
The Guanyin of the Sea is indeed magnificent! How far can you see it?
A fascinating and awe-inspiring place, well worth a visit!
This is really amazing, the Three-Faced Guanyin, I made a wish and added incense.
I can only describe the Guanyin of the Sea as shocking.
It's very spectacular, but the commercial atmosphere is very serious and the scenery is also beautiful
There were many people there at noon, but it didn't take long to line up. The Guanyin statue is huge. Friends who go there must take good care of their mobile phones and belongings. There are many people there and thieves take advantage of the chaos to steal things. I lost my mobile phone there. Later I learned that other people were also stolen. I didn't expect that the Pure Land of Brahma would become a hotbed for bad elements to take advantage of the chaos to do evil.
The statue is 108 meters high, standing on the 120-meter-diameter Jingangzhou (Guanyin Island) on the sea. The statue is an integrated three-figure Guanyin, with a solemn appearance, and its feet are on a 108-petal lotus throne. Under the lotus throne is a Jingang platform, and inside the Jingang platform is the Yuantong Hall with an area of 15,000 square meters. Jingangzhou is connected to the land by the 280-meter-long Puji Bridge, and together with the Guanyin Square with an area of 60,000 square meters and the theme parks on both sides of the square, it forms the Guanyin Garden Scenic Area covering an area of nearly 300,000 square meters.
The Guanyin statue is very stunning when viewed from a distance, but when people stand on the lotus throne, they seem so small. Looking up, they can only see the lapels of Guanyin's clothes and can only pray to the Buddha.
You have to donate money to get on the platform of the Guanyin statue. Otherwise, you can only look at it from a farther platform. The Guanyin statue is very dignified, but when people come to visit, my personal feeling becomes worse.
Visited during the Spring Festival in 2010. The scenery is unique and there are many people.
Next time I have a break, I must go to the South China Sea.
For a northerner like me, places like Sanya are full of beautiful scenery, the kind that you can never get enough of wherever you go.
Just so so
……………
From the entrance of the scenic area, walk along the central trail for about 10 minutes, passing the Bodhi Garden, and you will arrive at the Guanyin Cultural Garden.
There is a huge Bodhi tree and prayer wheels beside the square.
If you feel the sun is too strong, you can go to the Guanyin statue along the pavilions on both sides (there are also many souvenir shops on both sides)
Before reaching the Guanyin statue to pray, you have to cross the 280-meter-long Puji Bridge to see its true appearance.
You can enjoy completely different Guanyin statues from different perspectives
Go straight ahead along the Puji Bridge and you will reach the lotus base of Guanyin on the Sea. There is an additional fee to climb the lotus to pray and watch. Each spectator can decide whether to pay.
Each tourist can receive 3 petition incense sticks for free. As for praying, I think it would be more positive if you have a sincere mindset.

We came all the way to see the Nanhai Guanyin. Although the journey was hard, we, a group of dozens of people, bowed every three steps to the Nanhai Guanyin. Every time I looked up at Guanyin Bodhisattva, I was inexplicably moved and tears came unconsciously. I went to Hainan in March this year. It was a little rainy that day, so the weather was very good and not too hot. The exhibition room under the Nanhai Guanyin statue was magnificent and I was very moved.
It was a happy day. It’s not easy to find time to go out with my parents in all these years! The first stop was Sanya Nanshan Temple, which was so beautiful!
I came here many years ago and took this photo as a visit.
There were too many people and we didn't get to the foot of the movie theater. However, this attraction can be regarded as a feature of Hainan.
You can see the 108-meter-high Guanyin statue up close. Of course, there is also Nanshan Temple and other Buddha statues. If you are a Buddhist, Nanshan is a place you must visit.
It has become a common practice for major airlines to fly around Guanyin to ensure safety when landing. Such a vast territory does not show the choking incense. The sea here is azure blue, the sky is also azure blue, the temples are hidden in the tropical rainforest, dotted with clusters of orchids, and there are patches of bodhi trees and thousand-year-old pines on the hillside. The huge Guanyin statue stands on the sea, the holy white and pure blue blend together, which reminds people of the four words "sea and sky Buddhist kingdom"!
It looks very majestic and is worth seeing. You will pass Tianya Haijiao on the way to Nanhai Guanyin, so you can go and see it together. The vegetables picked at Haishang Guanyin are very good and taste great. You can try it.
It is a 108-meter-high Guanyin on the sea. From the entrance, you can walk through a sea corridor to the bottom of the Guanyin. It is said that Guanyin is very powerful. Photography is not allowed in the hall.
There are three sides of Guanyin, which the free guide mentioned during the explanation. If I hadn't told him, I really wouldn't have known that there are three sides. The guide explained what each side is asking for, and also said that you should visit in a clockwise direction, first enter the hall to worship, and then come out to burn incense. There is a strong sense of ritual when entering the hall, and there will be another guide at the door to lead people who are about to enter the hall to worship at the door.
"Last-minute cram". After visiting the various Guanyin statues in the main hall on the first floor, we lined up and took the elevator to the 4th floor and then walked two floors to the 6th floor to see the sea and cram for Buddha's sake. I admire the structure of the exit. Although there is no place to sell things when entering, the way out is not to return to the original way. The design is very smart. Every way leading to the exit is also a way to sell things.
Nanhai Guanyin is a newly constructed scenic spot, all of which are buildings built after the 1990s. It is just an activity of renovating Buddhist temples in successive dynasties. Come and have a look. I wonder if people in the future who come to see such magnificent buildings will also be amazed that we had such architectural capabilities at that time.
The Nanhai Guanyin Scenic Area is actually quite large, and it takes quite some time to queue up. The main hall at the foot is still worth a visit, although it is not very interesting. I saw all kinds of strange Bodhisattvas.
When I arrived at the scenic spot, I wanted to buy tickets with my student ID card, but I only bought tickets for my mother online. I forgot to bring it! So sad. Fortunately, the tickets were cheaper in the off-season, 126 yuan! It was almost the same if I bought tickets online for 111 yuan! At the entrance, we who bought tickets online formed a group. A male tour guide took us in together. He explained to me and didn't hold an umbrella. It was really hard. It's better to have someone introduce this kind of scenic spot with heavy religious information. I heard that the sea water here has 5 layers of color, which is said to be due to the Buddha's light. It is 108 meters high, 7 meters higher than the Statue of Liberty. All planes in Sanya, whether taking off or landing, must circle around the Guanyin statue, commonly known as the Buddha Circumambulation! The released turtles cost 2999 yuan, which is so expensive! ~ I think the turtles can't go back to the sea. There are rules for taking photos with people and Buddhas: people must be shorter than Buddhas, and they must be on the left and right, not directly below Buddhas. It is also not allowed to hold Buddhas with hands, because you mortals can't hold it! If you can't remember, don't take a photo with the Buddha~
The first stop is Nanhai Guanyin. Everyone should listen carefully to the guide's explanation. There are many details about how to worship, what each Guanyin represents, and how to burn incense. It takes about three hours to visit here. Because we underestimated the time on the road and the size of the scenic area, we had to return the electric car at noon, so we had to visit it in a hurry and then go back. The last attraction in the garden is the viewing platform, where you can take pictures and play on the beach with reefs.
You need to pay for tickets to Guanyin Island separately. The attractions are clearly marked on the ticket, and the distance is basically not very far.
The scenery here is really nice. It is surrounded by the sea. The entrance inspection is very strict. You are not allowed to take photos and you have to take off your hat. There are many Buddha statues inside, which is very spectacular. At the end, you can go around to the feet of the Guanyin statue. Generally, everyone will hug the Buddha's feet. If you want to burn incense, it is free. If you want to make a wish, you need to pay for the larger and thicker incense. The scenic area is very large and the scenery is very beautiful. It feels like there is scenery everywhere, which makes people feel refreshed.
The tour guide said that if you want to worship Buddha in Sanya, you have to worship all three-faced Guanyin statues. It costs 50 yuan to go around the statue, and 80 yuan to pray. My friends are all ethnic minorities and don’t have this belief. But I have always believed that "Buddha is Buddha in the heart". So I worshipped the front "King of the Box Guanyin", that is, the Guanyin of Wisdom, and then retreated.
It is a big Buddha with three faces, each holding a different instrument. It costs money to get close to the Buddha's feet. I didn't go, it's not worth it. It's worth taking pictures, after all, it's a big Buddha over a hundred meters high, it's not common
The Guanyin statue at Nanshan is very special. It has three sides. Every plane arriving at Sanya Phoenix Airport must circle the Guanyin statue three times before arriving. One is to express respect for the Guanyin statue, and the other is to bless the safety of all tourists.
This is the only place where you can hug the "Buddha's feet", but you must queue up in advance. The huge crowds of people and the huge sea-view Guanyin statue are very spectacular. Here I would like to point out that when taking a photo with the Guanyin statue, you should pay attention to the size of the person in the photo cannot be larger than the Guanyin statue, and the person should not be at the feet of the Guanyin statue. These are all very particular.
Visitors can take the scenic area's battery car or choose to walk within the scenic area. The battery car stops after the Thirty-three Guanyin Hall. If you walk, after passing Nanshan Temple and passing the elephant stone sculpture, walk about 1 kilometer to the left and you will reach the 108-meter-high Sea Guanyin. Taking pictures and watching are free, but if you want to take the elevator up to pray for Buddha's help, you have to pay a merit fee of 88 yuan. You can choose whether to go up. We didn't go. We think that as long as we pray sincerely, Guanyin Bodhisattva will definitely bless us to make our wishes come true. The Sea Guanyin is one of the giant Buddhas guarding the four corners of China. The sea and sky are one color, which is spectacular. Looking at the Buddha from a distance, and then approaching step by step, walking from the sea platform to the foot of the Buddha, I feel that I have a connection with Buddha all of a sudden. It is said that you can see it from the plane.
However, we can imagine the majesty of the Guanyin statue. Guanyin has three faces, kind eyes, and protects a piece of pure land. Although the Guanyin of the Sea has three faces, we have only seen two of them, and the other one has not been seen. Although it is a bit regrettable, not everything is perfect, so we can let it go.
When you are almost at the foot of Guanyin, you will realize that the height of 108 meters is really shocking. With you shaking this precious land, I believe that the coming year will be good weather and good harvest. Guanyin of the Sea is 5 meters taller than the Statue of Liberty, so she is the tallest stone statue in the world. It is said that all routes in Sanya will circle around Nanhai Guanyin to pray for peace and blessings.
It is worth mentioning that there is a Buddha Pavilion (also known as the Nepal Pavilion) in the scenic area, which contains various exotic objects and is a good place for taking photos. We were also lucky enough to see the worship ceremony of believers walking around the pavilion and learned more new things.
The only attraction that the lazy group got off the bus to visit, the hotel gave us tickets to climb the Guanyin, let alone go up, we didn't even go down the bridge! I burned a few incense sticks devoutly, and the "merit box" expressed a little bit of my heart, hoping that the Buddha would bless me and answer my prayers.
It is said that planes arriving at Sanya Phoenix Airport will fly around the Nanshan Guanyin statue before landing. When I arrived at Nanshan Temple, I saw planes flying by every few minutes. When I got closer, I found that the Guanyin statue had three sides. One side was holding a lotus, another side was holding a golden book, and the other side was holding a Buddhist rosary. It is said that this sea Guanyin is 108 meters high and is the world's first golden jade Guanyin statue. It is also a treasure of Hainan Island. There is a delicious ice cream shop next to the Guanyin statue, 8 yuan each.
The first stop of the tour bus was the Guanyin of the Sea. The square was very large, and it took more than 10 minutes to walk from the entrance to the Guanyin statue. My mother took out the attitude of a Buddhist believer, walking and worshipping along the way. When she arrived at the place for burning incense, she also spent money to light a lamp and made a wish.
It took about ten minutes to enter the Guanyin statue, and people were allowed in one by one. It was really magnificent inside, with various Buddha statues and scriptures donated by Buddhists all around. It was roughly the same as the layout of the Nanhai Guanyin statue in Putuo Mountain. Take the elevator to the fourth floor, and then climb to the seventh floor, where you can overlook the entire Nanshan Scenic Area and touch the Buddha's feet.
It took us about an hour and a half to visit the Guanyin of the Sea alone, and it was quite tiring walking back and forth.
Enjoy the sea breeze and worship Guanyin. I personally value the first point more. The scenery is beautiful.
I went to the Guanyin of the Sea in December, which was just the beginning of the peak season. There were a lot of people and it took a long time to queue. The scenic area is not big, but the interior is magnificent and there are many small Buddhas enshrined. After going there once, I would not be very interested in going there the second time.
Beautiful scenery, unique environment, worth a visit
The scenic area is spacious, the climate is pleasant, the monks and guests are civilized, the environment is clean, the Buddhist meals are tranquil and delicious, and the guest rooms are comfortable and cozy. It is suitable for morning jogging, strolling, daydreaming, introspection, and purifying the soul.
The Guanyin is super huge. It is said that all flights arriving in Hong Kong have to fly half a circle here to pray for the protection of Guanyin. I haven’t verified it, but it may be reliable anyway.
There are many ways to play, such as walking up close to look up and cram for Buddha's feet, watching from a distance and taking photos in amazement, or going to see the small Guanyins that everyone has invited, or even inviting one for yourself (a room full of Guanyins is really shocking)
It’s best not to travel on weekends or Buddhist festivals because there will be so many people!
The 108-meter-high Guanyin of the Sea is 15 meters taller than the Statue of Liberty. It is the largest Guanyin statue in the world and the largest Guanyin statue in the world.
The Guanyin of the Sea is very magnificent, the Buddhist temple under the feet is magnificent, and you can also climb up to the Buddha's foot platform to touch Buddhism, which is great! Thank you~
I paid for the entrance ticket to the scenic area. I didn't pay to visit the Guanyin on the Sea, nor did I pay to go to the Lotus Buddha's Foot. I don't know if it was because I went there on October 15th of the lunar calendar. The beach here has big waves, steep slopes, and coarse sand. But it's worth a visit. I didn't buy a ticket for the battery car and walked the whole way. It was a bit tiring but the scenery was nice to see in detail. I suggest you go to the beach near Nanshan Temple. The scenery is also very good. And the commercialization inside is also very fun. You can buy everything. I don't know what Guanyin is thinking while silently watching Dicos fried chicken and those grilled sausages. I think you shouldn't go to this kind of attraction with a pilgrimage mentality.
Nanshan is a scenic spot dominated by Buddhism. There are temples in the scenic area. Many businessmen and merchants come here to kneel and pray. If you are not a devout Buddhist, you can also come here for vacation, see the huge three-faced Guanyin statue, try vegetarian food, and swim in the open-air swimming pool.
You must see the Guanyin on the Sea when you go to Sanya. It is spectacular and the scenery is also beautiful.
108m high, three-faced Guanyin Bodhisattva on the sea
The planning, construction and operation of Nanshan Sea Guanyin Scenic Area are very successful. The vegetarian restaurant in the scenic area tastes very good.
I went there on the last day. It was better to go than not to go. The scenery was OK.
Sanya's top scenic spot, eat vegetarian food and worship Guanyin
It's spectacular. The sea water is azure blue under the sun. Love it.
It is best to go early as there will be long queues and it will be very sunny. You can pay homage to the Guanyin of the Nanhai Sea, hug the Buddha's feet, and pray for your family.
I worshipped Guanyin devoutly. I hope she will bless my family with peace and health.
The scenery is beautiful, a holy place for a pure soul.
The 108-meter Nanshan Sea-goddess of Mercy is the world's largest white-robed statue of Mercy. Before the Nanshan Sea-goddess of Mercy was built, the 88-meter-high Wuxi Lingshan Giant Buddha, known as the "largest Buddha in China", was the tallest. After the Nanshan Sea-goddess of Mercy was built, the height record of the Lingshan Giant Buddha was broken. The lotus throne at the foot of the statue of Mercy is 10 meters high and has four layers. Each layer has 27 lotus petals of the same shape, a total of 108 petals, 20 more than the lotus throne at the base of the Lingshan Giant Buddha.
Under the lotus seat is the Jingangtai, inside which is the Yuantong Palace, which covers an area of 15,700 square meters. Jingangzhou is connected to the land by the 280-meter-long Puji Bridge, and together with the Guanyin Square, which covers an area of 60,000 square meters, and the theme parks on both sides of the square, it forms the "Guanyin Jingyuan" scenic area, which covers an area of nearly 300,000 square meters.
Three Buddha statues with three faces of Guanyin:
The front Guanyin holds a sutra box, the right Guanyin holds a lotus, and the left Guanyin holds a rosary, symbolizing wisdom, peace, and kindness respectively. Each statue contains a great intelligence and induction function, which can increase blessings and wisdom and bless peace.
The front figure of Guanyin holding a sutra box embodies Guanyin's wisdom virtue. The sutra box represents the six hundred volumes of the Prajna Sutra, which means that Guanyin "saves people with wisdom and compassion", and can benefit herself, observe the unhindered state of affairs and realize freedom, and benefit others, observe the opportunities of all sentient beings and transform and save them, and enlighten sentient beings with Prajna.
The Guanyin holding a rosary on the left embodies Guanyin's virtue of liberation, that is, completely getting rid of ignorance, troubles and all kinds of bondage, reaching a state of great freedom and great ease, and expressing the compassionate spirit of "all beings chant the Buddha's name, and the Buddha chants the sentient beings".
The Guanyin holding a lotus on the right embodies the Dharmakaya of Guanyin. Guanyin is the main deity of the Misong Lotus Department. The lotus is the Samadhi form of Guanyin, which symbolizes the four virtues of "eternal bliss, self-purity"; it is the holy flower in Buddhism, symbolizing the flesh and heart of all living beings. The lotus body is pure, rising from the mud without being stained, and the roots and stems are connected to the heart, symbolizing "the mind, Buddha, and all living beings, the three are not different." Overall, it represents the purity of Guanyin and the perfection of the six senses.
The Guanyin statue generally represents the image of Guanyin's great compassion, "whose great mercy brings happiness to all sentient beings and whose great compassion relieves the suffering of all sentient beings." It is a spiritual symbol of "compassion," "wisdom," and "peace."
Master Shenghui said that the Nanshan Sea Guanyin Statue is second to none in the world and is the pride of the Chinese Buddhist community.
一個促立在海面上的四面觀音.真是雄偉
It would be better if the Feng Shui treasure land of Nanhai Guanyin was quieter
It's a place worth visiting. It feels like the Guanyin statue is on the sea.
My mother is a Buddhist, so she was very happy. She reverently walked around the statue of Guanyin three times and kowtowed.
The person in the photo cannot be bigger than Guanyin. Remember! You can capture the beautiful Guanyin from many angles.
Nanshan Temple is very big. There are no scenic area buses or anything like that. It is best to wear flat shoes. The place where Guanyin lives ~ The scenery is really good ~
The statue of Guanyin is very tall, with a person sitting on an orchid at the foot, with only a tiny part of his head visible.
This time I went to the Guanyin of the Sea to fulfill my vow. Since it was the off-season in June, there were not as many people as the last time I went in November. Overall, it was still very good. Without the coming and going of people as last time, I could fulfill my vow with peace of mind. The Guanyin of the Sea is infinitely solemn and compassionate. I hope that my wishes can come true.
The scenic area is very large. The 108-meter Nanhai Guanyin is very spectacular. If you want to visit the entire scenic area, then a battery car is absolutely necessary.
Guanyin is very big. The tour guide said that the South China Sea is to the south.
The first scenic spot in Nanshan Scenic Area is also the most visited one. The Guanyin standing in the sea gives people a peaceful and tranquil state of mind. However, excessive commercialization is not very reasonable. There are additional charges for reaching the lotus seat, the Buddha's feet, and the top.
A place worth visiting, take your friends with you if you have the chance.
The Guanyin on the Sea is very big. After arriving at the entrance of the scenic spot, you still have to walk a long way to get to the bottom of the Guanyin. It is also good to see the Guanyin on the Sea at night. It looks very beautiful when the lights are on.
Nanhai Guanyin is something that everyone has known since childhood. It is the number one attraction in Sanya. If you have any wishes, you can go there to worship the Bodhisattva. The saying "Longevity as great as the Southern Mountains" originally came from here. The Nanshan Temple is where the Bodhisattva is located. Sanya is really full of blue sea and blue sky.
Yutong signed up for a two-day tour of Sanya in Haikou. The second stop on the first day was here. Because Yutong was lazy at the time, she chose to join a tour group. Because it was a tour group, the tour fee included tickets. The tourist bus took us directly to the Buer Famen. The tour guide said that we must come to Hainan to see the Nanhai Guanyin statue. Because of limited time, it is recommended that we go to Nanhai Guanyin after getting off the bus. If you want to go to the attractions on both sides, Nanshan Temple and Jinyu Guanyin, you must take a small train or it will be too late. So Yutong gave up decisively. Children who are in a hurry can't afford it. If you have only about 2 hours of play time like Yutong, it is recommended to go directly to Nanhai Guanyin after Buer. After all, this Guanyin on the sea is super famous, and you must run to the foot of Nanhai Guanyin: cram for Buddha. It is worth going. The weather in Sanya is very blue~ Guanyin on the sea is very spectacular. You must cram for Buddha early or you will need to queue for a long time; in addition, the Buer Gate reminds Yutong of the No. 1 Village in the World, the only one in the world; Nanshan is definitely a classic attraction that cannot be missed when going to Sanya.
