Because we went there in November, there were no lotus flowers on the water, but we caught up with the yellow leaves of autumn, with alternating yellow and green leaves. Coupled with the ancient pavilions, terraces, towers, galleries, terraces, porches, boats, pavilions and bridges in the garden, it also created a unique scenery.

By Snowball Dance |

The ancient Lotus Pond was first built in the second year of Shangyuan reign of Emperor Gaozong of Tang Dynasty (675 AD), namely "Linyi Pavilion"; in the Yuan Dynasty, Zhang Rou, King of Runan, expanded it in 1227 and named it "Xuexiang Garden"; it was destroyed in an earthquake in 1284, leaving only the pond and lotus flowers; in the late Ming Dynasty, it underwent a large-scale renovation and expansion and became the "Shuijian Office"; in the Qing Dynasty, Lotus Pond Academy was built, and it became its heyday. Mountains, waters, towers, terraces, pavilions, halls, verandas and pavilions were scattered in a staggered manner, forming the famous Twelve Scenes of Lotus Pond, which earned it the reputation of "Urban Penglai".

"Ripples in Summer", one of the eight scenic spots in Baoding Ancient City, refers to the ancient lotus pond.

The ancient lotus pond is the most amazing attraction in this trip. It is a representative work of private gardens in the north and occupies an important position in the history of Chinese gardens, which is well-deserved.

By Ring finger |

If you go to the Lotus Pond for the first time and don't know its history, you will feel that it is small and boring. However, as a native of Baoding, I am full of affection for this place. The scenery of the ancient Lotus Pond is to appreciate the lotus, the red lotus in the East Pond and the white lotus in the West Pond. Baoding was the seat of the Governor of Zhili in the Qing Dynasty. The Lotus Pond was once a place for ancient students to study. Here is the only well-preserved sutra pillar written in Xixia script in the country. There is a Xun Hall inside, and children come here regularly to learn ancient musical instruments. Although there is no beauty of the Jiangnan courtyard here, the cultural atmosphere here has been continuing, rather than existing as a simple tourist attraction.

By Angel's Favorite |

The scenic area is not big, and the water is dazzlingly green. It is far inferior to the Suzhou gardens in the south of the Yangtze River, but in the water-scarce North China Plain, it is indeed a rare place with waterside pavilions, green trees and clear water.

By Little chatterbox |

The lotus buds have just appeared, and there are not too many of them. They should be beautiful again in a month.

By Yueyue |

It's too small and the ticket price of 30 is too expensive, not worth it!

By RexRen |

It is a national key cultural relic protection site. There are still many people going there on May Day. The place is not very big. It would be more beautiful if there were lotus in summer.

By Yingpeng Flying High |

Tickets are 40 yuan, a little expensive, check in at the door. Next to it is Tanghuluwang and Majia Laoji.

By Knowing Autumn |

One of the eight scenic spots in Shanggu, near the city center of Baoding, a must-see attraction when visiting Baoding!

By Bai Xubo |

The only place that exceeded my expectations during this trip to Baoding was that it was once used as a temporary palace, with a half-palace and half-civilian nature. Apart from the royal gardens, it is also outstanding among the gardens in northern cities. The water area is quite considerable. Although it is not in the best season, the endless green lotus leaves can still make people imagine the magnificent scene when the lotus is in full bloom. There are both lake stone rockery and earthen hills, and various pavilions and towers are also richly matched. There is also a Zhili Library inside.

By Nine Realms - Walker |

Formerly named Xuexiang Garden, it has a history of nearly 800 years.

It was the residence of Zhang Rou, a famous military general in the late Jin Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty. It has undergone historical changes from private to government, academy, palace and public garden. It is recommended to hire a guide! If you want to see the lotus in bloom, come back in June or July.

By lay down |

The lotus in the lotus pond had not yet bloomed, but the children were happy, as were many people who came to take wedding photos. We were happy for their happiness.

By Kylin |

I went there in July 2017. The lotus flowers in the pond were really gorgeous, attracting many friends to take photos. The Taihu stone at the entrance was said to be very impressive, but I forgot what it was.

By Half a month |

Such a beautiful garden is rare in the north, and the blue sky and white clouds look particularly refreshing.

By Restaurant and Ta |

I didn't come to see the lotus in this season~ And to be honest, I was a little disappointed inside, especially after I came out of the Zhili Governor's Mansion, I was struggling to get in. I thought about it for a long time at the door and spent 15 yuan for a student ticket to get in. I thought it was pretty good at first, and the style was different from the ancient buildings I visited before, but after walking around, I found that in this season, without lotus, I actually went there to take pictures. The overall feeling was that it was relatively small and not very enjoyable. It might be that the Summer Palace and the Forbidden City are too big, so there is a contrast. In general, if you come to Baoding, you can go and see it, but it is not worth coming to Baoding specifically~

By Wandering around the world |

As a native of Baoding, my memories of the lotus pond are my childhood memories. When I was a child, I would wait at the gate of the lotus pond for my father to pick me up from school on his bicycle.

It is a typical representative of the imperial palaces and gardens of the Qing Dynasty, and the pinnacle of the gardening art of Qing Dynasty craftsmen. Its fusion of the north and the south is rare in China. If you have time, bee lovers who come to Baoding for a trip must come and see it.

Especially when the lotus is in full bloom, there is a magnificent scene: the red lotus in the east pond greets the rising sun, and the white lotus in the west pond sends off the sunset. Moreover, the colors of the lotus in the two ponds have been kept unchanged for hundreds of years.

By Haihe River |

It is one of the top ten famous gardens in the country, but it seems to lack effective publicity.

"Urban Penglai" Garden Pearl

Lianchi Park, located in the downtown area of Baoding, is the ancient lotus pond and is one of the ten famous gardens in China. One of the eight scenic spots in Baoding is "Ripples in Summer", which is also known as "Water Mirror Office". Chunwu Slope, Hancang Pavilion, Pianliu Cave, Hanlv Pavilion, Yitang, Zaoyong Tower, Ruichuang Jingshe, Wanhong Pavilion, Hechai, Gaofen Pavilion, Wanjuan Tower, and Huananyanbei Thatched Cottage are the twelve scenic spots of Lianchi Palace.

General Zhang Rou, a native of Baoding, built "Xiangxuehai" as his private residence when he rebuilt Baoding City in 1227. The park covers a total area of nearly 48 mu, of which the pond area is nearly 12 mu. The south and north ponds are half-moon-shaped, with pine and cypress trees dripping with green; the north pond is irregular in shape, with jade stones piled up. The various decorative stone carvings are unique. Because the pond is full of lotus flowers for many years, it was renamed Lotus Pond.

The ancient lotus pond is a fusion of northern and southern gardens. The plaque on the gate, "Ancient Lotus Pond", was inscribed by the president of the Republic of China, Xu Shichang; the rockery and memorial archway are of northern style; the narrow central pond is surrounded by small bridges, winding paths, pavilions, rockery and flowers, which seem luxurious but empty; the Chinese red and glazed tile garden buildings reveal the luxurious style of the royal garden.

Compared with those famous Jiangnan gardens, the ancient lotus pond is not large in scale, but it is small and exquisite, elegant and unique. Its picturesque scenery is unforgettable. I still remember the scene of "the lotus leaves are endless and green" in the pond. The eyes are full of green, which makes people feel relaxed and happy. An exquisite water pavilion is particularly eye-catching. It is tightly surrounded by lotus leaves and looks tall and beautiful. This pavilion is called "Wanhong Pavilion" and the stone arch bridge connected to it is called "Wanhong Bridge". It has a beautiful shape and really looks like a rainbow. Wanhong Bridge and Wanhong Pavilion form the most beautiful scenery of the ancient lotus pond.

Opposite the Zhili Governor's Mansion is a national cultural relic protection unit and one of the top ten famous gardens in China. I didn't expect that in October, I could still see lotus leaves in the pond. I came in November and there were still many lotus leaves.

By Polon |

Correction! Tickets are 30 yuan!

The lotus leaves are endless and green, and the lotus flowers are red in the sun. Although summer has passed, they are still graceful. Zhili Library is the earliest library in Hebei Province, exuding the atmosphere of the Republic of China. The lotus leaves in the pond bring bursts of fragrance with the breeze. The exhibition of the China Old Newspaper Office is absolutely well received. The lotus ripples are beautiful.

By Kebaliang |

The ancient lotus pond is a national key cultural relic protection unit. It is very close to the Zhili Governor's Office and can be reached on foot. The ticket price is 30 yuan, which is not cheap. However, there are several ancient relics in the park, which are especially worth seeing. After entering the gate, there is the Zhili Library built in the Republic of China, which has a very distinctive architecture; on the south side of the library there are the Tang Dynasty stele "Tian Wan Zhengde Stele" and the Qing Dynasty stele "Wang Mingyang Poetry Stele"; on the south side there is the oldest existing building in Baoding, the Yuan Dynasty stone bridge Green Field Ladder Bridge. After that there are six pavilions, all of which are worth seeing.

However, for such a large park, there is only one public toilet, which is really a bad review!

Ancient Lotus Pond is a national cultural relic protection unit, located in Lianchi District, Baoding City, Hebei Province. It is one of the eight scenic spots in Baoding, known as "Ripples in Summer". It is one of the ten famous historical gardens along with Suzhou's Humble Administrator's Garden, Beijing's Summer Palace, and Yuanmingyuan. Ancient Lotus Pond is not only famous for its "deep forests and springs, and vast clouds and objects", but also famous for being located on the same site as the Lotus Pond Academy.

The total area of the ancient lotus pond is 24,000 square meters, of which the water area is 7,900 square meters. The water of the pond is divided into two ponds, the south and north, by the central island. The two winding east-west channels connect the two ponds. The south pond is half-moon-shaped, surrounded by cliffs and pine and cypress trees; the north pond is an irregular rectangle, surrounded by jade piles and willows. It can indeed be called an outstanding representative of northern gardens. If you have enough time, you should watch it slowly and appreciate it quietly. You must come again if you have the chance in the future! The ticket price is 30 yuan per person, which is a reasonable price.

I like the lotus pond very much. It is the cultural symbol of Baoding. Penglai is a city of books and gardens. In the most prosperous downtown streets, Xidajie Daci Pavilion, the ancient lotus pond, the Governor's Office, Dongfeng Park, Binhe Park, Yuhua Road, and Dongfeng Road are really scenic.

Once you step into the gate of the lotus pond, the forest of steles seems to be silently telling you about the vicissitudes of time and the changes of the times.

By Future Traveler |

The Ancient Lotus Pond is near the Zhili Governor-General Museum and is one of the top ten famous gardens in China. Because we went there in winter, the water in the lotus pond had frozen, and many local elderly people were leisurely walking in it and basking in the sun.

The garden is not very big, but it is quite exquisite. I walked around for half an hour.

Tickets are a bit expensive. Not cost-effective. But the lotus pond is really great. Lush and green. Yes, it's full of green. I didn't catch the flowering season. So sad.

By On the Road |

I was wandering around Baoding alone, and I didn't want to go far away. The Ancient Lotus Pond was right in the city center, so I went there. The transportation was very convenient, and the ticket was 30 yuan. When I went there, it was late July and there were no lotus flowers. The Ancient Lotus Pond is known as one of the top ten famous gardens in China. The garden is not big, and the scenery is okay, not amazing. If you are from other places, I still recommend a visit. In addition, there are Zhili Public Office, Bell Tower, Catholic Church and other attractions nearby, which are very close and can be visited at once. There are also Baoding's famous food Yan's donkey meat fire and Ma's old chicken next to it, so you can have some snacks when you are tired of walking around.

By JeannyH |

There are not many scenic spots in Baoding city, and the Ancient Lotus Pond is one of them. It is nice to visit it in July and August when the lotus flowers bloom. The garden is not big, and half a day is enough. You can walk around and take pictures, just like visiting a park. If you choose a good angle, the lotus flowers can be photographed well. But the ticket is expensive. It was 30 yuan when I went there in 2013. I don't know if the price has increased now. As a park, this price is a bit expensive.

By Insects |

It was winter when I went there, and even the remaining lotus leaves had been cleaned up by the cleaning staff. I think it would be nice to go there in spring.

By lilith |

In the center of Baoding Old Town, the ticket price is 30 yuan per person. The inside is not well maintained. The pool water is very dirty. The buildings in the park are also dirty and old and not well used. The starting price is not right. Maybe it will be better when the flowers are blooming

By Wang Xiaohua |

It's a very ordinary royal garden with a small area. I went there for a sketching activity organized by the school. It's nice to see the lotus in summer. But when I went there, the lotus was all dead.

However, this season is not suitable for visiting here. It is suitable for summer. Now you can only appreciate the rockery and see the exhibition inside. The ticket price of 30 is still a bit expensive...

The ancient lotus pond is not very big, with pavilions built around the water. Tickets are 30 yuan, and there is no tour guide. It is best to visit in summer, when the lotus flowers are in full bloom and the pavilions and waterside pavilions are particularly elegant.

Empress Dowager Cixi always regarded this place as a detached palace. She stayed here every time she came to the capital of Zhili. The most common buildings are pavilions and terraces. Each building and pavilion has an extremely elegant name. In summer and autumn, it is green and you can see lotus flowers. In winter, if there is snow, it is also a beautiful view with a different artistic conception. Several TV series have been filmed here, but I forgot the specific names...

Ancient Lotus Pond is a well-known scenic spot known to people in Baoding, but many people have never been there. The ticket is 30 yuan and the student ticket is 15 yuan. I went in with my classmates from other places. It is bigger than I imagined. I only knew the reputation of the lotus pond after reading the introduction. When I went there, many red lotuses had withered, but many white lotuses were still in bud. It was very pleasant to sit on a chair by the lake and enjoy the breeze.

The ticket to the ancient lotus pond is also 30 yuan.

Although it is late summer and early autumn, the lotus in the ancient lotus pond is still as famous as it is, and the white lotus is particularly graceful.

The biggest inconvenience of Lotus Pond is that there is no park guide map, which is available in most scenic spots.

There are two kinds of lotus, red and white, which are lush and beautiful!

The scenery is pretty good, but it's a pity that we went too early and the flowers haven't bloomed yet, let alone the lotus. It would be beautiful if we came in summer~

When you come here to play, you don’t care about the ticket price, but the cost-effectiveness of 30 yuan is actually very average, and it doesn’t feel as good as the Zhili Governor’s Mansion next door.

It is said to be one of the top ten gardens in China, but I am a little ignorant about this. It covers a large area, with rockeries, trees, pavilions and towers. It feels a bit like a garden. Unfortunately, I came at a wrong time. The lotus has not bloomed yet, and the lotus leaves are not very lush. There is not much water in the lake, and it is calm.

The buildings inside are quite attractive, with many sculptures of various kinds, and there is also a small church, but it is not open.

It is not recommended to come at noon when the weather is hot. Although there is shade, it is still quite hot.

After eating the candied haws, we went to the ancient lotus pond. The entrance fee is 30 yuan. The ancient lotus pond was built in 1234 AD. The Lotus Pond Academy was built here in the Qing Dynasty, and later it became a temporary palace. Therefore, students such as Qianlong, Jiaqing, and Cixi all came here to play.

The ancient lotus pond is lined with rockeries, and the environment is very pleasant. If the lotus flowers are in full bloom, it must be wonderful. But today is different from the past. The haze in the sky has wasted time, and I am speechless.

By Melo the Explorer |

I went there with my roommate during the Qingming Festival. Although the lotus flowers were not in bloom, other flowers that bloomed in spring were also very beautiful. Although the water level in the pond was very low, the weather was just right. This trip was still worth it.

The south pond is half-moon-shaped, surrounded by cliffs and green pines and cypresses. The north pond is an irregular rectangle, surrounded by jade-stone banks and willow trees. It was originally the residence of Zhang Rou.

The place is not very big, not crowded, entrance fee is 30 yuan, disabled people and military personnel are free. It is a quiet place after the lotus flowers bloom. I went there again a while ago. Although the large lotus flowers have withered, the quietness of the afternoon is very comfortable.

The ancient Lotus Pond was first built during the Shangyuan period of the Tang Dynasty. In the 22nd year of Genghis Khan of Mongolia (1227), Zhang Rou moved to Qingyuan (now Baoding), painted the market, settled the houses, built the city walls, and employed a large number of garden craftsmen captured from the south of the Yangtze River to expand the garden here, draw water from Jiju Spring and Yimu Spring in the northwest of the city, plant lotus roots and raise lotus, build pavilions, and keep a lot of animals, fish and birds. It was named Xuexiang Garden and was his private garden. Because of the lush lotus flowers, it was called Lotus Pond in the Ming Dynasty. The total area is 36 acres, of which the pond area is nearly 12 acres. It was rebuilt into the Water Inspection Office during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. After continuous expansion and renovation during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the famous "Twelve Scenic Spots of the Lotus Pond" were formed during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (paste the website here)

This place is for viewing lotus flowers, but April is really not the right time to go, there is nothing to see, and the ticket price seems to have increased a lot, so I didn't go in.

Ancient Lotus Pond, the plaque is very new. I played in it when I was a child. Of course, there was no entrance fee at that time, but now it costs 30 yuan per person. The Ancient Lotus Pond was one of the top ten gardens in China and one of the few famous attractions in Baoding.

It is named after a pond of lotus flowers. There is a forest of steles inside. It is a good place for leisure with few people. It is a famous scenic spot in Baoding. The ticket price is 30 yuan. You can visit it when you have time.

Don't underestimate the ancient lotus pond, which is one of the top ten famous gardens in China. The ancient lotus pond was dug by the King of Runan in the Yuan Dynasty. Because of the governor's mansion in the Qing Dynasty and the nearby Lotus Pond Academy, it was also fortunate to become the emperor's palace. Tickets are 20 yuan.

Since it is a city attraction, most of the visitors are individual tourists, and there are no groups, so my idea of sneaking in with a tour guide certificate was ruined. Fortunately, the ticket is not expensive, 20 yuan, 15 yuan with a student ID. But it's also good that it's not expensive, because the inside is really average~~~ Especially for someone like me who can't appreciate humanities, I really feel that there is no difference between this and those free parks.

Before I went there, I did some research on Baidu and heard about the Eight Scenic Spots of the Ancient City, one of the Ten Famous Gardens in China, and especially its original name "Xuexiang Garden". I have to admit that I was a little hopeful, thinking that with such a poetic name, it must be full of Jiangnan flavor as others said. However, after entering, I found that, although there was a Jiangnan feeling, it always felt a bit like an imitation of someone else's.

Although the scenery is not as good as expected, the atmosphere inside is still good, of course mainly because there are few people and it is quiet.

I came at the wrong season, so of course I couldn't see the lotus, but the park was pretty good. The park is not big, so if you want to take a leisurely stroll, 2-3 hours is enough. If the Zhili Governor's Office is the Forbidden City of Baoding, then this lotus pond should be considered the Beihai of Baoding in terms of ticket prices and geographical location (Daci Pavilion is considered the Lama Temple of Baoding). But this Baoding version of Beihai Park is also full of construction sites. The map shows that the park has two north and south gates. The entrance I mentioned is the north gate, and the south gate is hard to find. It seems to be blocked by a construction site. I don't know if it can be completed before the summer to see the lotus.

Lianchi is not only famous for its "deep forests and springs, and majestic clouds and objects", but also for being located on the same site as Lianchi Academy. Lianchi Academy was the best academy in China in the late Qing Dynasty. What is on display now is the historical relationship between the famous scholars and Lianchi Academy, with rich content.

Baoding Ancient Lotus Pond is located on Yuhua Road in the center of Baoding. It is a large courtyard of an ancient family. The ticket is 30, and the student ticket is 15. When we were in college, the Prime Minister visited Baoding once. The scenic spot is free with a student ID. A group of us went there. We had fun inside for a long time before coming out. Next to the Ancient Lotus Pond is Baoding's famous Tanghulu King. There are often long queues. If you go late, it may be sold out. It is said that the price of this Tanghulu has not increased for decades. The size has always been large. As the name suggests, the most famous thing about the Ancient Lotus Pond is the lotus inside. The lotus is very beautiful when it blooms. The pavilions and towers inside are also good. The lake view is also beautiful.

It is an old courtyard that is not very large, has some history, is very quiet and simple, and is most beautiful when the lotus in the pond is in full bloom.

The ancient lotus pond is still under restoration. The Eight-Nation Alliance destroyed it completely. Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty and many other emperors visited here many times.
