When we got to Shanhaiguan, we had to see Lao Longtou. We planned to go to Shanhaiguan and Lao Longtou in the morning, and then go to Xingcheng after lunch. However, Lao Longtou was so interesting that we spent the whole morning wandering around it. The dragon robe, the prince's clothes, and the gold wares were all taken in the palace. There are many more that I didn't put up one by one. It's quite interesting. It's said that this palace was burned down before, and then it was restored and rebuilt on the original site. I believe the original palace will be more beautiful. The ancestors of China are awesome. We bought a pass for Lao Longtou. I suggest that if you come, you can also take a look at the pass. It's really good. There are also free explanations here, and you can hear a lot of historical knowledge~

The ticket check and ticket purchase area are not in the same place~ so be sure to read it carefully and go to the visitor center to buy tickets first~ you can also buy tickets directly from the machine, which is quite convenient! The facilities are also very complete. It is said that it is the off-season price now, so it is 20 yuan per ticket, and there is no longer a difference between senior and children's tickets! I met other tourists who thought the price was a bit expensive. Is it expensive? I don’t think so? ? !

In October 1991, the Shanhaiguan Laolongtou Great Wall was selected as one of the top 40 tourist attractions in China by the National Tourism Administration and was awarded a medal. There are military divisions, Bagua formation, Chenghai Tower, and Ruhaishicheng in the scenic area. Ruhaishicheng is the end of the Laolongtou Great Wall that extends into the sea. The whole city stands in the sea water. It was built in the seventh year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1579) and was built by Wu Zhongwei, the lieutenant general sent by Qi Jiguang, the general of Jizhen. Ruhaishicheng was restored in 1987. The Temple of the Sea God was built in the early Ming Dynasty and was destroyed by war when the Eight-Power Allied Forces invaded in 1900. The current Temple of the Sea God was rebuilt by the Shanhaiguan District Government in 1988. The temple is located in the sea, surrounded by water on three sides and wind from eight directions. It is unconventional and faces south and north, which makes people have all kinds of associations. Sit on the sea-viewing pavilion and listen to the sound of the sea up close.

Lao Longtou is part of Shanhaiguan Scenic Area, part of the Great Wall, and the easternmost section of the Great Wall. It came all the way from the west, like a giant dragon, galloping and leaping across the land of China, and finally proudly put its head into the surging Bohai Sea here, forming a dragon head entering the sea. This is the easternmost section of the Great Wall built in the Ming Dynasty - Lao Longtou of Shanhaiguan, the Great Wall. Lao Longtou was a strict military defense project in the Ming Dynasty. In the Qing Dynasty, it lost its military defense function and became a place for emperors and generals to climb the tower to watch the sea and recite poems. It was blown up by the Eight-Power Allied Forces in 1900, which was a great shame in my country's modern history. The buildings we see now were all repaired and rebuilt after 1985.

The Laolongtou Scenic Area is now well-maintained. When we came many years ago, we were not allowed to enter. It might be under renovation at that time. This time we came just in time to shoot the National Day video, so it is particularly beautiful.

The perfect combination of ancient monuments and the sea gives people a stunning feeling of Penglai Wonderland, and you can also see the ancient city wall that was really built in the Ming Dynasty, which is completely beyond expectations~ It's so comfortable~🙈

Laolongtou is located on the coast of the Bohai Sea, 4 kilometers south of Shanhaiguan City, Hebei Province. It is the eastern entrance of the Ming Great Wall to the sea. It is connected to Jiumenkou of the Water Great Wall to the east. The stone city entering the sea is like a dragon head exploring the sea and dancing with the waves, hence the name "Laolongtou". It is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

There is a shuttle bus between the Laolongtou Scenic Area and the Tianxia Diyiguan Scenic Area, which can be taken for free with the scenic area ticket.

Take bus No. 25 from Shanhaiguan Railway Station for 10 stops to Laolongtou Scenic Area. No need to charter a car. No need to charter a car. You can buy a combined ticket for Laolongtou, Shanhaiguan and Jiangnu Temple. The Great Wall Estuary Qinhuangdao must-see attractions. If you don't play at the beach, you can visit it in two hours.

As one of the representative attractions of Qinhuangdao, my opinion is: you can skip Shanhaiguan, but Laolongtou is worth a visit.

I personally think that this is the most worthwhile place to visit in Shanhaiguan Scenic Area. It is 5 kilometers away from the First Pass in the World. You can take bus No. 25, and there are many buses. The scenic area is not big. It takes about 1.5 hours to walk through it all. You must visit the Sea Stone City and the Temple of the Sea God. There is also a beach. It should be very happy to come here in summer.

5A and No A

In the whole Hebei Province, probably only Zhangjiakou and Qinhuangdao can see blue sky and white clouds. Zhangjiakou relies on the wind, Qinhuangdao relies on the sea, and they both have such a beautiful name, Shanhaiguan.

Just for the name, it is worth a visit. I went there before Shanhaiguan was delisted as a 5A attraction, and I experienced a lot of chaos. When everyone was making money from tourism, I didn't really care about the price of tickets to attractions. Since I was here, would I go home just because the tickets were expensive? As a tourist, what I care about is that the money is collected and the things are done. If they only collect money but don't do anything, it's not a 5A attraction, it's no A at all.

There are mountains, seas and the Great Wall. The Qin Emperor sought immortality in this blessed land. Throughout the ages, it has experienced so many wars. The city of Shanhaiguan, the first pass in the world, was built later and did not lose points. Even Cao Cao, who was ambitious, chanted the famous sentence "Looking at the vast sea from the east of Jieshi" here. The magnificent name of Shanhaiguan is enough to make any young man's blood boil. Now the gray Bohai Sea, although not outstanding in the world's Age of Discovery, often means the vast sea in the history of Chinese civilization. Where the vast sea laughs, there is naturally the confidence to shout "the first pass in the world". So in this sense, Shanhaiguan is the most qualified to say 5A in the whole Hebei Province. This time, the delisting from 5A to no A can be regarded as a strong medicine.

Although it is not blue, the Bohai Sea is still a sea. Children who grew up reading poems will still come to Shanhaiguan. So, please, you must have 5A at the place where the Great Wall meets the sea.

The section of the Ming Great Wall that extends into the sea at its eastern end is the only naval and land military defense system of the Great Wall that integrates mountains, seas, passes, and cities. It is quite unique and worth a visit.

I highly recommend this place. The seawater is clean and the scenery is nice at the east end of the Ming Great Wall. You can enter directly with a tour guide. Route: Exit from the north exit of Shanhaiguan Railway Station, follow the walking navigation to the bus stop and take bus No. 25. The distance is not far. If you only go to Lao Longtou and Tianxia Diyiguan, one day is enough. I arrived at 9:30 in the morning and went directly to Lao Longtou. I ate four steamed buns in the ancient city, then bought a ticket to enter Tianxia Diyiguan, took photos, and climbed the city wall. I returned at around 4:00 in the afternoon. The scenic area is now well managed and very clean.

It's very beautiful, and the beach is also quite fine, but you can't swim. The beach at Laolongtou is finer than that at Laohushi, but unfortunately the sea water is not blue enough.

The scenic area is well planned and can be visited in two hours. The Bagua formation is very interesting. There are many tourists but it is not crowded.

Give it to Samsung. Many of them are not allowed to be viewed. I don’t know why.

I bought a combined ticket online (Laolongtou, Tianxia Diyiguan, Wangjiayuan, Bell and Drum Tower, Meng Jiangnu Temple) for 108.5 yuan. I went to the tourist center to get the ticket. There were a lot of people, the sun was very strong, and it was hot.

After I went in, I saw a stone. There were a lot of people taking photos there, so I left. Then I saw the Olympic torch stand.

It's a standard tourist attraction, and there are quite a lot of people. There are some places selling snacks, which are very unpalatable.

The starting point of the Ming Great Wall, where the Great Wall enters the sea. There is also a temple of the sea god, where Mazu is worshipped in addition to the sea god. I went there during the Spring Festival, and the ice and snow in the north had not melted completely, which just presented a scene of the sea in the distance, ice in the middle, and snow in the near distance. It is a highly recommended attraction.

It is not far from the urban area of Shanhaiguan, and the taxi costs 12 yuan. After entering the scenic area, there is a barracks, then go up the stairs to the top of the hill, and then go down the stairs to Laolongtou. There are also some buildings to the west of Laolongtou. The scenic area is not big, and it is not tiring to visit.

The place where the Great Wall of China meets the sea is very special. The waves hit the bricks of the wall. Standing here and looking at the endless sea gives you a very magnificent feeling. While visiting, you have to admire the wisdom of the ancients.

The scenic area is not big, and the tour time is about 1.5 hours to 2 hours. The military fortress has cultural heritage and is worth a visit.

Laolongtou has really expanded a lot in recent years. It has invested a lot to expand a small seaside garrison camp in Shanhaiguan into a scenic spot of the same scale as Shanhaiguan. However, the scenery that is excavated by copying and digging is still a bit rigid, and the heritage is not as rich as Shanhaiguan. It is worth a visit as a general attraction, but as a major attraction, you have to consider it carefully. What impressed me most was a large pot with a depth of an adult's height, which was introduced as a cooking pot for 300 garrison soldiers. If this pot is a reference to real historical facts, it means that the soldiers patrol in shifts and start cooking after the patrol. 24-hour patrol, 24-hour cooking, patrol non-stop, fire not extinguished. Unfortunately, no matter how fierce the stove fire is, it can't resist the war of strong ships and cannons.

The scenery of Laolongtou is great, especially the pavilion behind the Mazu Temple. The view is very broad and you can feel the vastness of the sea. It is suitable for sea viewing!

Laolongtou is still the most worthwhile place to visit in Qinhuangdao. It seems to have been restored. Because of the ticket, there are not many people on the beach. It is relatively clean. It is really good.

There are relatively few tourists here, the ticket price is reasonable, the scenic spots developed in the scenic area are very distinctive, and the hygiene is also very good. Moreover, it is a section of the Great Wall built on the sea, and there are beautiful beaches and refreshing and cool sea breezes here, making it a good summer resort.

The scenic area is divided into three parts: one is the Great Wall on the sea in the east, one is the building complex in the middle with the garrison as the core, and the other is the Temple of Poseidon in the west.



The Laolongtou scenic area is called Ninghai City, which should be of the same nature as the military forts in northern Shanxi during the Ming Dynasty.

It was part of the Ming Dynasty's northern defense system, and was inhabited by soldiers and their families.



I remember seeing an article in the China National Geographic magazine.

I specifically mentioned the military forts in northern Shanxi, which were built for military defense.

Many defensive forts were built, and troops were stationed there, which later gradually became villages and towns.

The best preserved ones include Yungang Fort above the Yungang Grottoes and Laoniu Fort.

The strategic defensive position of Shanhaiguan should be higher than these military forts, after all, there are fifth-rank officials stationed there.



Walking to the seaside, there is an ancient building on the city wall called Chenghai Tower.

Standing on a high vantage point, you can overlook the entire coastline and have a panoramic view of the Great Wall of the Sea in the distance.

The wind and waves were very strong that day. I wondered if I would encounter such bad weather.

The Ming army and the Later Jin army were about to fight each other with swords and spears. I felt so tired.

It's difficult to live a normal life in this kind of weather, let alone fighting, where lives are at stake.



Leaving the Great Wall on the Sea, we visited the Garrison, Bagua Formation, Xiangong Temple and other buildings in the middle.

We will have a more intuitive understanding of the Great Wall and the Ming Dynasty's defense against northern nomadic peoples.

The sea breeze is refreshing and the ancient buildings are admirable.

However, many projects have not been renovated and completed. I hurriedly visited a few scenic spots and took a bus to the real end of the Ming Great Wall - Laolongtou. It is also a pass city, but it has a unique style because it connects the sea and the sky: I walked straight to the depths of the city wall, overlooking the sea and listening to the tide. In addition to the imagined wars and iron horses, many past events and future expectations emerged in my mind. I stared for a long time and almost missed my return date.

The ticket for Laolongtou Scenic Area is 20 yuan, and there is also a Shanhai Palace which is charged separately. If you take a combined ticket, the two attractions are 50 yuan.

The old dragon head is probably the most beautiful attraction on this trip. The more interesting one is the Bagua formation, a maze. Many people walked around and couldn't get to the middle. I also followed everyone to get there haha

After passing the Bagua Formation, keep going forward. The feeling of standing on the stone city entering the sea and looking out at the foggy sea is really amazing. Just seeing this scenery makes me feel that the trip is worthwhile.

Finally, there is the Temple of Poseidon. There is a small pavilion behind the temple with great scenery, which is very suitable for taking photos.

I drove to Laolongtou during the Spring Festival. The parking lot of the scenic spot is large, but the exit is too chaotic. I waited for 20 minutes to get out. It is now off-season. The ticket price of Laolongtou scenic spot is 20 yuan per person, and seniors over 70 years old (born in 1948) are free.

This is the mouth of the Great Wall. Although it is not as majestic as the Great Wall in the past, it is still worth a visit.

The starting point of the Great Wall at sea, you can take bus No. 25 from Shanhaiguan Railway Station to Laolongtou Station, the ticket is 50 yuan. My favorite place in Shanhaiguan Scenic Area! I stayed there for a whole morning, highly recommended. The weather was great when I went there, the sea was particularly blue, the waves were surging, the water was clear and the sand was white. The Neptune Temple next to it is also very good, it is a 360-degree viewing platform where you can watch the sea.

As soon as you arrive, you should go directly to Chenghai Tower. There will be more and more people behind you. It’s OK to go early during the National Day holiday. There are relatively fewer people at the Temple of the Sea.

We stayed at a farmhouse with friends, ate the mantis shrimp caught in the morning, and enjoyed the sea breeze. It was our first self-driving trip as a family of five.

There are so many people during the National Day holiday, you can still go and see it. The Great Wall by the sea is rarer.

Let's talk about transportation first. Whether you are going from Beidaihe or Qinhuangdao, I personally recommend taking the train to Shanhaiguan. It is far from the city and taxis are too expensive. I got on the train from Qinhuangdao Railway Station and got off at Shanhaiguan Railway Station. It cost 8 yuan for half an hour, which I think is very cost-effective. After exiting Shanhaiguan Railway Station, walk 500 meters straight and you will reach Shanhaiguan Scenic Area. The usual practice is to visit the "No. 1 Pass in the World" scenic area first, then go out and take bus No. 25 (1 yuan) to Laolongtou Scenic Area, which takes about 20 minutes for 9 stops. There are many buses, and there is no pressure to wait for the bus.

As for the scenery, there are city walls, beaches, and waves. It is the eastern maritime starting point of the Great Wall and the only section of the Great Wall on the sea. Nothing to say!

It is much more beautiful than the Shanhaiguan Ancient City Tower. After all, it is by the sea and quite spectacular. I can’t understand the history of it.

As for the scenic spots, there is cultural heritage, but the buildings are basically all built and renovated later like other historical sites. It is still nice to see the sea. Personally, I feel that the tickets here are a bit expensive and not very cost-effective.

The rain, sometimes heavy and sometimes light, can't stop the tourists from their persistent steps. It's not about seeing the scenery, but umbrellas everywhere. Dragon King, did you disturb your rest, so you have to change the weather and prevent tourists from enjoying themselves?

The next day, Lao Longtou Scenic Area. For the Great Wall estuary and historical data, you can just search on Baidu. I just want to sigh from the bottom of my heart that the blue sky here is so pure. Outside Lao Longtou Scenic Area, there is a shuttle bus that can take you to the First Pass in the World. You can take it for free with the ticket of the bus you took when you came.
