Longxing Temple was originally Longteng Garden of Murong Xi of Later Yan during the Sixteen Kingdoms period of Eastern Jin Dynasty. In the sixth year of Kaihuang (586 AD) of Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty, a temple was rebuilt in the garden and it was called Longzang Temple at that time. It was renamed Longxing Temple in Tang Dynasty.
Longxing Temple has six bests: the Mani Temple, the finest existing ancient architecture in China; the colorful hanging statue of Avalokitesvara; the most exquisite bronze Vairocana Buddha in ancient China; the earliest existing regular script stele in China; the oldest and largest chakravartin in China; and the tallest and oldest ancient bronze statue of Avalokitesvara in the world.
Those who like cultural activities can visit the large-scale cultural performances held during the Spring Festival temple fairs, May Day and National Day: Emperor worshiping Buddha and Thousand-armed Guanyin.

I watched a documentary about Zhengding in the early years. The ginkgo leaves are yellow, the ancient temples are dense, and the history is long. It should be Longxing Temple. The tour guide I met occasionally had standard pronunciation, clear pronunciation, and a very bright and pleasant voice. The upside-down Guanyin in the Mani Hall is worth seeing. In the Dabei Pavilion Hall, the famous Thousand-armed Guanyin is very huge, and you need to look up to see it, which is visually shocking.
The temple is extremely wonderful in terms of ancient buildings, statues and murals. Its brackets, beams and other structures are very worthy of learning and appreciation by professionals and ancient building enthusiasts. In addition, there is the upside-down Guanyin praised by Mr. Lu Xun as the "Oriental Goddess", the tallest bronze Buddha Thousand-armed Guanyin, the oldest and largest revolving treasury, and the best-preserved stele from the Sui Dynasty...
As a famous attraction in Zhengding, it is still worth a visit. I still complain that the ticket price is a bit expensive. Compared with other temples with pagodas, Longxing Temple is relatively large, and according to the guides online, it is relatively more famous.
Longxing Temple, also known as Dafo Temple, is located on Dongmenli Street in Zhengding County. It was originally Longteng Garden of Murong Xi of Later Yan during the Sixteen Kingdoms period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. In 586 AD (the sixth year of Kaihuang in the reign of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty), a temple was rebuilt in the garden, which was called Longzang Temple at that time. It was renamed Longxing Temple in the Tang Dynasty. In the early Song Dynasty, Emperor Taizu Zhao Kuangyin ordered to cast a bronze Buddha in the temple and build the Dabei Pavilion. A large-scale construction project was carried out, and a group of Song Dynasty buildings with the Dabei Pavilion as the main body were completed one after another. This established the status of the famous temple throughout the ages. Mr. Liang Sicheng even called it "the first famous temple outside Beijing". It was renamed Longxing Temple in the Qing Dynasty.
There is a tall glazed screen wall in front of the temple, and the glazed dragon pattern in the middle fully demonstrates the identity of the royal temple. Going north through the three-way three-hole stone bridge, there are: Heavenly King Hall, Tianjue Six Masters Hall (site), Mani Hall, Ordination Platform, Cishi Pavilion, Zhuanlunzang Pavilion, Kangxi Imperial Stele Pavilion, Qianlong Imperial Stele Pavilion, Imperial Book Building (site), Dabei Pavilion, Jiqing Pavilion (site) and Amitabha Hall, etc. In the northeast corner outside the temple wall, there is a Longquan Well Pavilion. The Abbot's Courtyard, Yuhua Hall and Xiangxingzhai on the east side of the temple are the ancillary buildings of Longxing Temple. They were originally the residences of the abbot and monks. Longxing Temple is extremely in the architectural style of the Song Dynasty, with the peculiarly shaped Mani Hall, the colorful Guanyin statue, the earliest existing regular script stele in China, the Longzang Temple Stele, the tallest and oldest Thousand-armed Thousand-eyed Guanyin, and the most exquisite bronze Vairocana Buddha.
Longxing Temple is one of the earliest, largest and most well-preserved Buddhist temples in China. The temple covers an area of 82,500 square meters and has more than ten large and small halls distributed on the north-south central axis and on both sides. It is an important example for studying the architectural layout of Song Dynasty Buddhist temples.
When visiting Longxing Temple, you must pay special attention to the six best in the country: the Mani Temple, which was praised by ancient building expert Liang Sicheng as "the pinnacle of Chinese ancient architectural art"; the reclining Guanyin in the Mani Temple, which was praised by Lu Xun as "the oriental goddess of beauty"; the largest early Chinese Chakravartin; the Longzang Temple Stele, which is regarded as "the best Sui Dynasty stele"; the tallest bronze Buddha in ancient my country; and the most exquisite bronze Vairocana Buddha in ancient my country.
Longxing Temple was first built in the sixth year of Emperor Kaihuang of the Sui Dynasty (586 AD). It was originally named Longzang Temple, and was renamed Longxing Temple in the Tang Dynasty. In the 49th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1710), it was given the name "Longxing Temple" and has been used ever since. It is one of the earliest, largest and most well-preserved Buddhist temples in China. The main buildings of Longxing Temple are distributed along a north-south central axis and on both sides of it.
Longxing Temple, ticket price: 50 yuan
Duration: 1-2 hours
There are six treasures in the temple: the tallest bronze Buddha statue (Zhengding Bodhisattva), the Mani Temple from the Huangyou period, the "most beautiful sound" that Lu Xun remembered forever, the first Sui Dynasty stele, the "ancestor of regular script", the largest chakravartin, and the most exquisite Ming Dynasty bronze Vairocana Buddha.
Longxing Temple was first built in the sixth year of Kaihuang in the Sui Dynasty. It was originally named "Longzang Temple". In the early Song Dynasty, Emperor Taizu Zhao Kuangyin ordered to cast a bronze Buddha in Longzang Temple and build the Great Compassion Pavilion. Then a large-scale construction was carried out. A group of Song Dynasty buildings with the Great Compassion Pavilion as the main body were completed one after another. During the reigns of Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, two large-scale repairs and expansions were carried out, and the temple developed to its heyday. In the 48th year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Longzang Temple was renamed Longxing Temple. Longxing Temple is one of the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units. There are 6 national bests preserved in the temple: the world's only example of ancient architecture - the Song Dynasty Mani Temple; the "Oriental Beauty Goddess" sitting inverted Guanyin; the oldest revolving treasury; the earliest regular script stele "Longzang Temple Stele" (Sui Dynasty); the largest and oldest bronze Thousand-armed Guanyin statue (ancient miracle); the most exquisite bronze Vairocana Buddha in ancient times. Tickets: 50 yuan.
Longxing Temple is called the Big Buddha Temple by the locals. Unlike the wooden Buddha statues in Chengde Big Buddha Temple, the Buddha statues here are made of copper. We invited a guide to introduce that this is one of the ten famous temples in China, a royal temple, and one of the earliest, largest and most well-preserved Buddhist temples in China. Longxing Temple has "six unique features". The master architect Liang Sicheng visited and inspected Longxing Temple four times and praised it as "the first famous temple outside Beijing".
Longxing Temple is known as the Big Buddha Temple by the locals. It was originally the Longteng Garden of Murong Xi of the Later Yan during the Eastern Jin Dynasty. In the sixth year of Kaihuang of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty, a temple was rebuilt in the garden. It was called Longzang Temple at that time. It was renamed Longxing Temple in the Tang Dynasty. It houses the tallest and oldest ancient bronze statue of Avalokitesvara with a thousand hands and eyes in the world. Let me tell you about the guide to Longxing Temple:
1. There are 4 trains from Shijiazhuang to Zhengding every day, the ordinary train costs 5.5 yuan, and the high-speed train costs 8 yuan, but it takes about 15 minutes to arrive. However, the scenic spots are all in the old city, so you still need to take a bus or a taxi (10 yuan) to get there;
2. There are two buses passing through Zhengding Scenic Area in Shijiazhuang City, namely, Sightseeing Bus No. 1 departing from Tangu Bus Hub and Bus No. 130 departing from Hebei Museum North. Both buses take 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach the scenic area.
3. The ticket price for Longxing Temple is 50 yuan, and the combined ticket price is 60 yuan, which includes the four pagodas in Zhengding. Except for the Chengling Pagoda in Linji Temple, which is free, the tickets for other ancient pagodas range from 10 yuan to 20 yuan. The ancient city wall and other towers in Zhengding cost 15 yuan.
4. The various scenic spots are close together, but the scenic area is still equipped with a battery car that runs every 15 minutes. With a ticket, you can take a sightseeing battery car for free at any station in the scenic area;
5. No need to bring your own incense, the temple will give each visitor three sticks of incense for worshiping Buddha;
6. You can hire a tour guide at the door. The fee is 50 yuan for less than 5 people, 60 yuan for 6-10 people, 70 yuan for 11-20 people, 80 yuan for 21-30 people, and 100 yuan for more than 31 people.
7. Temple fairs are held during the Spring Festival every year. During the May Day and National Day holidays, there will be large-scale cultural performances such as the Emperor Worshipping Buddha and the Thousand-Handed Guanyin, which are a feast for the eyes.
8. Parking is free in the scenic area.
Zhengding Longxing Temple is one of the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units, a national 4A-level tourist attraction, and one of the top ten famous temples in China. It was first built in the sixth year of Kaihuang in the Sui Dynasty (586 AD), with a history of more than 1,400 years. It was called Longzang Temple at that time and was renamed Longxing Temple in the Tang Dynasty. In the 49th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1710), it was granted the title "Imperial Construction of Longxing Temple" and was renamed "Longxing Temple" and has been used ever since.
The temple covers an area of 82,500 square meters and is an important example for studying the architectural layout of Buddhist temples in the Song Dynasty. Mr. Liang Sicheng praised that "the most famous temple outside Beijing is Longxing Temple in Zhengding Prefecture". The temple is home to a large number of ancient buildings, murals, sculptures, steles and other art treasures, six of which are the best in the country: the Mani Temple, a unique example of Song Dynasty architecture in China; the colorful hanging sculpture of the sitting Guanyin, known as the "Oriental Beauty Goddess"; the oldest chakravartin in my country; the Longzang Temple stele, which is regarded as the "No. 1 Sui Dynasty stele"; the most exquisite bronze Vairocana Buddha in ancient my country; and the most famous is the world's tallest bronze Buddha in ancient times - the Thousand-armed Guanyin.
Longxing Temple is a thousand-year-old temple and also an art palace that houses many Chinese treasures.
There are two types of tickets. One is made of paper and can be purchased at the ticket office of the scenic spot for 50 yuan. The advantage is that you can get a paper ticket as a souvenir. Later, I found that you can also take the sightseeing bus or battery car at any station in the scenic spot with the ticket. (There are two types of battery cars in the scenic spot, one green and one orange. The starting and ending stations are different, and the intermediate stations are similar). The second type is to buy tickets online for 44 yuan. It is cheaper than paper tickets, but it is said that you cannot take the bus. (When we got on the bus from Tianning Temple, the driver looked at the ticket, but when we got on the bus at the next few stations, he didn't look at it)
The battery car runs every 15 minutes. Since the attractions are relatively close, if you have enough energy, you don't have to wait for the car. You can walk there early. If you bring the elderly and children, or if the car happens to come, you can still take a ride. Because at some stops, even if the car comes, there may not be vacancies. Longxing Temple is quite large, and it takes about one and a half to two hours to walk around and take pictures.

One of the most important and worthwhile cultural relics in China, it is the most complete Northern Song Dynasty temple, with four ancient buildings from the Northern Song Dynasty. Among them, the Mani Temple is the only one in China, while the Wheel-turning Sutra Hall and Cishi Pavilion are two of the only four Northern Song Dynasty multi-story buildings in China. There are many cultural relics in the temple, which are of high value. The "most beautiful Guanyin in China" Northern Song Dynasty sitting Guanyin, the largest and oldest wooden wheel-turning sutra in China, the "first Sui Dynasty stele", the earliest regular script stele in China, the Longzang Temple stele, the world's tallest ancient bronze statue, the Great Compassion bronze statue of the Northern Song Dynasty, the exquisite two-faced Buddha and Vairocana Buddha of the Ming Dynasty, etc., any of which is a national treasure. To be honest, I have been to many important and ancient cultural relics of the same level in China: Guanyin Pavilion in Jixian County, Tianjin, Upper and Lower Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple in Datong, the Wooden Pagoda in Yingxian County, Shuanglin Temple in Pingyao, Yongle Palace in Yuncheng, etc., are all irreplaceable national treasure buildings and cultural relics. But if I only recommend one of these cultural relics, it is this Longxing Temple.
As someone who came from the Buddhist country of Southern Fujian, I am rather disgusted by this kind of temple that requires admission!
Longxing Temple, a thousand-year-old temple, is definitely worth a visit!
The thousand-year-old temple is one of the ten famous temples in my country and was called "the most famous temple outside Beijing" by Mr. Liang Sicheng.
Highly recommended. The buildings, cultural relics and sculptures in the temple are well preserved. Each of the "six best" is worth seeing. The most impressive one is the colorful Guanyin, which is very different from the Guanyin in other places. There are also murals in the temple, which are magnificent. The glazed screen wall outside the gate is exquisite and beautiful.
It can be regarded as a must-visit attraction in Zhengding. It is still very exciting. It is recommended to form a group and find a tour guide to explain it. There are many interesting stories.
We all call it the Big Buddha Temple. It is located in Zhengding County, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province.
It was originally Longteng Garden of Murong Xi of Later Yan during the Sixteen Kingdoms period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. In 586 AD (the sixth year of Kaihuang in the reign of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty), a temple was rebuilt in the garden, which was then called Longzang Temple. It was renamed Longxing Temple in the Tang Dynasty and Longxing Temple in the Qing Dynasty. It is one of the earliest, largest and most well-preserved Buddhist temples in China. The temple covers an area of 82,500 square meters.
The bronze Bodhisattva in the temple, called "Great Compassion Bodhisattva", is 19.2 meters high and stands on a 2.2-meter-high Xumi stone platform. It is the best-preserved and largest bronze statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva in China. The statue was built by order of Emperor Taizu of Song Dynasty, Zhao Kuangyin, and has 42 arms, also known as "Thousand-handed and Thousand-eyed Guanyin".
There is no other must-see attraction in Zhengding Ancient City.

Longxing Temple is approved as China's AAAA-level tourist attraction, one of the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units, and one of the top ten famous temples in China.
The Zhengding Buddha, one of the three treasures of Hebei, is here. When I first saw the dark lower body of the Buddha at the door, I didn’t dare to go in. The overall restoration is really good.
A breathtaking temple, a masterpiece!
You are still not allowed to take photos inside the temple, but here it is relatively relaxed and you can take photos for the introduction. This is the key viewing point, enough to make people marvel. Of course, there are other introductions, which I will not elaborate on here!
Special tips:
1. When you worship Buddha and burn incense at Longxing Temple, you do not need to buy incense outside. You will be given three incense sticks for worship after entering the temple.
2. Tourists who are interested in historical relics can hire a tour guide at the entrance. The tour guide fee is 50 yuan for less than 5 people, 60 yuan for 6-10 people, 70 yuan for 11-20 people, 80 yuan for 21-30 people, and 100 yuan for more than 31 people.
3. During the Spring Festival every year, Longxing Temple will hold a temple fair. During the May Day and National Day holidays, there will also be large-scale cultural performances such as the Emperor Worshiping Buddha and Thousand-Armed Guanyin, which you can come and visit.
A must-visit place, just for its rich history!
If you come to Zhengding, you must visit Longxing Temple. If you come to Longxing Temple, you must see the Reclining Guanyin and Thousand-Armed Guanyin!
Longxing Temple is very large, and the layout of the temple in the Song Dynasty is very different from the layout of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. "Hidden in the city", it is quite good, and there are many national treasures, I think it is the most worthwhile place to visit in Zhengding Ancient City.
There are many historical sites and six best ones. It is a great place. Thanks to Mr. Liang Sicheng.
There is a large garden in the temple, which is well greened, with pavilions, towers, bridges and flowing water. It is very beautiful and worth a visit. However, the temple is not very popular and there are few tourists.
Longxing Temple is one of the most famous attractions in Zhengding, with "Six Best in China". The scenic area is very large. Enter from the southernmost entrance. There was originally an east exit, but it was not open today, so I had to go out from the entrance and return the same way. If you go out from the east exit, you will be very close to the National Table Tennis Training Base and Rongguo Mansion. It is a bit far to go from the south gate. Longxing Temple is very popular. There is no mandatory requirement to donate incense, but everyone is very conscious. The buildings and Buddha statues are very shocking. There is also an exhibition on the history of cultural relics protection by Liang Sicheng, which is worth seeing. But because this exhibition is located in a remote area, there are many mosquitoes inside. Overall, Longxing Temple is worth seeing~ It is very convenient to buy and pick up tickets online.
A trip to the Big Buddha Temple is an astounding one. Every Buddha statue and hall has something to see and is unique. Every place you go will bring you endless surprises.
The trip to Longxing Temple is a stunning one. Every Buddha statue and every hall is unique. A Buddhist temple is a place that can especially reflect the breadth and depth of Chinese culture. The skilled craftsmen of ancient times brought human wisdom to the extreme. Walking in the ancient temple is simply a feast of Buddhist culture and art.
There are a lot of pigeons in the temple, and they are not afraid of people. I chased a little white pigeon with great interest and took a short video. The pigeon did not fly high, but walked slowly in front of you, and sometimes spread its wings and leaped... a harmonious scene.
There is a reclining Guanyin statue in Longxing Temple in Zhengding, which was called "the oriental goddess of beauty" by Lu Xun.
Tickets are 50/person (only discounts are available if you buy tickets online one day in advance, and tickets can only be purchased at the entrance of the scenic spot on the day). Longxing Temple is one of the best-preserved temples since the Song Dynasty. Many stone tablets and wooden structures are the best preserved in the world. Of course, we still toured the garden with the mentality of "pretending to be Wei Yingluo who survived the catastrophe in the Old Summer Palace". All the way, we were thinking "The emperor is suffering too much in the summer", and we were worried about it. There is a bronze Thousand-armed Guanyin statue in Longxing Temple that is as high as 18 meters. It is so well preserved and has not been damaged like the murals. It is really a blessing for the ancient craftsmen. I didn't take any photos. Let's go to the scene to experience this shock in person. There are two trees in Longxing Temple, one is a jujube tree and the other is also a jujube tree.
At the ticket window at the entrance of the scenic spot, scan the QR code to get a small slip, and enter Longxing Temple with your companions. In front of Longxing Temple, across the road is a screen wall. Time is tight, so I didn't linger in front of the screen wall and went directly into the temple. The ordination platform is a pavilion-style building, and the existing wooden structure was rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. The ordination platform of Longxing Temple enshrines Amitabha, the leader of the Western Paradise, and Medicine Buddha, the leader of the Eastern Pure Lapis Lazuli World, which are rare in China. In addition, the double-sided bronze Buddha statue has a clear style of court statues in the middle of the Ming Dynasty, which is extremely rare among the people. There is also the tallest and oldest thousand-handed and thousand-eyed Guanyin Bodhisattva statue among the ancient bronze Buddha statues in the world. Except for the most beautiful colorful hanging Guanyin statue, I like her title of "Free Guanyin", free and unconstrained, turning gods into people, which has its own charm. The Wheel of Revelation Pavilion Imagine the scene when the monks at that time took books and put books on the rotating bookshelf in the Wheel of Revelation Pavilion. It should be very spectacular and pious. The Vairocana Buddha made by the royal family truly reflects the bronze casting technology of the time. It has extremely high historical, scientific and artistic value and is a unique example in China. In the deepest part of the temple is the "Longteng Garden", which is full of flowers, plants, waterside pavilions and terraces. After visiting the Buddhist temple, it is also interesting to look at the green all over the eyes. Liang Sicheng made great contributions to the protection of cultural relics and ancient buildings in Zhengding. The establishment of a memorial hall is well deserved by Liang Sicheng.
Longxing Temple was once called the number one temple outside Beijing by Mr. Liang Sicheng. It was built in the early Sui Dynasty. Although it is still called a temple, it should be more accurately called the Zhengding Historical Relics Museum. Walking into the temple, people are filled with emotion. Every building and every cultural relic is a work of art, so beautiful that it takes your breath away and makes you marvel.
Longxing Temple is also called the Big Buddha Temple because it houses a 22-meter-high bronze statue of the Thousand-Armed and Thousand-Eyed Guanyin. It was built by Emperor Song and is housed in the Great Compassion Pavilion. It is the tallest and best-preserved bronze statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva in the country.
In front of the Great Compassion Pavilion there is a 7-meter-diameter, octagonal wooden revolving sutra cabinet. It is magnificent and is the prototype of the modern prayer wheel. It was made in the Song Dynasty and is a rotating sutra cabinet. One rotation of it brings the same merit as chanting sutras. This revolving sutra cabinet is the earliest existing physical object.
The wall sculpture of reclining Guanyin here was once called the Oriental goddess of beauty by Mr. Lu Xun. It is full of charm and solemn appearance. There are also many exquisite murals depicting Buddhist stories.
The Mani Temple on the central axis is a unique example of ancient building. It is a Song Dynasty building with a pure wooden structure and a cross-shaped floor plan. Sakyamuni Buddha is enshrined in the temple. Mani is a wish-fulfilling jewel, which means to get rid of turbidity and obtain purity.
The ordination platform of Longxing Temple has a double-faced Buddha, one side is Amitabha Buddha of the Western Paradise, and the other side is Medicine Buddha of the Eastern Lapis Lazuli Realm. They are made of bronze in the Ming Dynasty, with the body and back connected, which is very rare. It is worth mentioning that Longxing Temple is a famous Buddhist temple in history and one of the three major altars in the north (Beijing Jietai Temple and Wutai Mountain Qingliang Temple), because small temples cannot have ordination platforms.
Although there are no monks in Longxing Temple, it still has the smell of incense. Mr. Liang Sicheng, a famous ancient architecture expert in my country, called Longxing Temple "the first famous temple outside Beijing". The most impressive thing is the tall bronze Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Guanyin in the Great Compassion Pavilion. It is said that the inspiration for the famous dance "Thousand-armed Guanyin" in the Spring Festival Gala that year came from here.
The ancient buildings are worth seeing, and it is great that there is wifi in the scenic spot.
The first ancient temple in the suburbs of Beijing, with hundreds of years of history, is crowded with people and has a lot of incense. The wooden Buddha inside is particularly spectacular and very nice.
The trip to the Big Buddha Temple is a shocking journey. Every Buddha statue and hall has its own unique features. Every place you go will bring you surprises that will take your eyes off. I can't put the Big Buddha Temple down. After the guide led us to visit it, I studied it carefully. It is rare for such a small county like Zhengding to have such a large-scale ancient building complex.
When I was a kid, I hated visiting temples the most because I thought they all looked the same. Now I realize that Buddhist temples are places that can particularly reflect the breadth and depth of Chinese culture. I admire the skilled craftsmen of ancient times who designed Buddha statues in various poses and expressions. When I visited the magnificent Lama Temple in Beijing, I didn’t see the amazing feeling of the Big Buddha Temple. There were fewer modern traces. The heavy sense of history and the accumulation of culture impacted my "young" mind. Walking in the ancient Big Buddha Temple, I felt comfortable~ I was immersed in it, it was a feast of Buddhist culture and art~
Longxing Temple is the most famous of the eight major temples in Zhengding. It is located in the central area of Zhengding County. It was renamed Longxing Temple in the Qing Dynasty. It is one of the temple buildings with the most existing Song Dynasty buildings, statues and stone carvings in China. At the same time, the temple is also one of the first batch of key cultural relics protection units in China and one of the top ten famous temples in China. It is recommended to focus on the Mani Hall and the 21.3-meter-high Thousand-armed Guanyin Buddha. My favorite is the inverted Guanyin.
The 50 yuan ticket is worth it compared to the Lama Temple in Beijing. There are not only large murals, tall bronze Buddha statues, but also wooden prayer wheels. The colorful murals are relatively well preserved. It costs 100 yuan to see the murals in Fahai Temple in Beijing, and you have to use a flashlight like a thief, and the time is limited. The murals here are 50 yuan to see. I think as a sect, the first thing is to let everyone know about it. Only when you understand it will people believe in it. Protection is natural, but it is so mysterious that there is no intention to let everyone understand it. It can't be passed on. On the contrary, when you appear in front of everyone with a friendly attitude, most people will not destroy it, but will admire it from the bottom of their hearts. While appreciating the profoundness of Buddhism, you can also appreciate the infinite charm of these national treasures. Only in this way can the purpose of inheritance be achieved. Longxing Temple does this very well. You must visit Longxing Temple when you go to Zhengding!
Longxing Temple, also known as Dafo Temple, is located in Dongmenli Street, Zhengding County, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. It was originally Longteng Garden of Murong Xi of Later Yan during the Sixteen Kingdoms period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. In 586 AD (the sixth year of Kaihuang in the reign of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty), the temple was rebuilt in the garden and was called Longzang Temple. It was renamed Longxing Temple in the Tang Dynasty and Longxing Temple in the Qing Dynasty. It is one of the earliest, largest and most well-preserved Buddhist temples in China. The temple covers an area of 82,500 square meters and has more than ten large and small halls distributed on the north-south central axis and on both sides. It is an important example for studying the architectural layout of Buddhist temples in the Song Dynasty.
Longxing Temple is a peculiar temple, and the peculiarity lies in the fact that this temple has no mountain gate. The history of Longxing Temple is so long that it is like a history textbook. It records various changes, stories, legends and myths after the Eastern Jin Dynasty.
In the front there is a glazed screen wall, followed by three three-arch white marble bridges lined up side by side, and then the Hall of Heavenly Kings.
It is worth mentioning here that the Longzang Stele is a symbolic change from the Sui Dynasty to the Tang Kai style. It is the ancestor of regular script. This stele is located in the front right of the altar.
The Sutra Repository is a world-class wooden structure that is used to store Buddhist scriptures. It can be rotated to represent the constant rotation of the Dharma Wheel. It is also good to rotate it without reading the Buddhist scriptures.
There are many other treasures in Longxing Temple, such as murals, a bronze Thousand-Armed and Thousand-Eyed Guanyin statue, a five-colored Guanyin statue, a double-faced Buddha statue, a reclining Guanyin mural, and so on.
A true Northern Song Dynasty monument, the beauty of ancient Chinese architecture is beyond words! The transportation is very convenient, and it takes about an hour to get there by bus from Shijiazhuang City. It is recommended to go there at noon or on non-holidays, as there are too many people to affect the sightseeing experience. The tour time is about an hour, and I looked at it carefully. In short, it is a highly recommended attraction!
It's worth going just for the six best in the country! I didn't take pictures of the Buddha statues out of respect, but you must go to see the sitting Guanyin! Shocking!
Zhengding has a very long history, dating back to the Spring and Autumn Period. Later, the Han, Sui, and Tang dynasties left many historical sites here. There are a lot of temples that are thousands of years old in this small town. We chose Longxing Temple to have a look. This place was built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and was rebuilt as Longzang Temple during the Kaihuang period of the Sui Dynasty. It was renamed Longxing Temple in the Tang Dynasty. There are six things in this small temple that are called the best, which is really amazing. We looked around and still found a few.
The Mani Temple not far from the entrance is a wonder. As you enter, you can see large murals. Although they are very old, they are still majestic and lifelike. Time has left marks on the walls, but the charm of art has been passed down intact. There is an introduction next to it that the temple has organized a mural restoration team, and they are working hard to make these hundreds of years of art treasures colorful, and look forward to the day when they will be renewed.
Behind the Mani Hall is a wall of even more splendid sculptures, called Five-Colored Hanging Mountain, which is a wall sculpture that combines sculpture and painting. Its content is the lively scene of Guanyin Bodhisattva preaching in the Putuo Mountain Taoist temple. What's interesting is that this Guanyin is not the Guanyin we usually see sitting upright, but a Guanyin who is casual and approachable. She has a beautiful figure, her hands folded on her knees, her eyes looking into the distance, and even with her legs crossed, looking so relaxed. It is a superior work of the secular characteristics of Guanyin statues in the Song Dynasty, and is called the "Oriental Goddess of Beauty". Moreover, this sculpture goes against common sense, sitting south and facing north, also called "Inverted Sitting Guanyin", which is one of the six best in Longxing Temple.
Going further in, you will pass a small archway. Don't underestimate this archway. It is a door that Mr. Liang Sicheng praised as a treasure. The south side is inscribed with "Miao Zhuang Yan Yu" and the north side is inscribed with "Tong Jin Bao Fa", which means that Buddhism is a place of goodness and beauty, and Buddhism is a boat to save all living beings. There is a large hall behind it, and the most amazing treasure of the temple is here.
In this very tall hall there is a famous bronze statue - the Thousand-Armed Thousand-Eyed Guanyin Bodhisattva. It was built in 719 AD by order of Emperor Taizu of Song Dynasty, Zhao Kuangyin. It is 21.3 meters high, the tallest bronze statue in my country. The statue has a total of 42 arms. Except for a pair of hands clasped together, the remaining 40 hands are distributed radially. The hands not only hold ritual instruments such as the sun, moon, pure bottle, and vajra, but are also decorated with an eye, to show that it has a thousand arms and a thousand eyes. It is a miracle in the history of Chinese metallurgy and the most influential cultural relic in Longxing Temple.
It can be said that Zhengding Longxing Temple is the most amazing attraction in this trip. The huge bronze Guanyin is breathtaking. Many places are guarded and no one is allowed to take pictures. I was able to take pictures secretly under the cover of my friends.
Among the 6 "best", my favorite is the five-colored upside-down Guanyin, the second is the bronze Thousand-armed Guanyin, and the third is the Mani Hall. In addition to the 6 "best", the Guanyin statue and the ordination platform in Cishi Pavilion are also very good.
Very grand. Worth a visit. The Buddha statue inside is very tall and really grand, and you can tell the craftsmanship is top-notch. It's almost impossible to find such a elaborate Buddha statue and a whole wall of stone carvings in temples nowadays. Amazing!
Longxing Temple covers an area of 90,000 square meters. It is simple and solemn, giving people a heavy sense of age. It is a relatively well-preserved Song Dynasty building complex in my country. Unlike most temples that feel gorgeous and frivolous, it is the most amazing temple I have visited so far. There are major buildings such as the Mani Hall, Cishi Pavilion, Zhuanlunzang Pavilion, and Longteng Garden. Among them, the Mani Hall was built in the Song Dynasty and is dedicated to Gautama Buddha. The building is a cross-shaped classic Song Dynasty style. The colorful clay sculptures in the hall show the Dharma field of Putuo Luojia Mountain. It was praised by Mr. Liang Sicheng as a unique example of ancient architecture in the world. The clay sculptures are grand, and the inverted Guanyin is beautifully shaped, which is breathtaking. In the Dabei Pavilion, a 21.3-meter bronze standing Thousand-handed Guanyin Bodhisattva statue from the Song Dynasty is enshrined. The Guanyin Bodhisattva statue has 42 arms, holding different instruments. The stone Xumi seat under the Buddha statue is 2.2 meters high, and the flying celestials and strong men carved on it are beautifully shaped and vivid. The ticket is 50 yuan and the tour takes one to two hours.
As a native of Shijiazhuang, I wanted to visit Longxing Temple in Zhengding since I was a child, and finally went there when I was 20 years old. We went to Rongguo Mansion first. When we went there, the street in front of Rongguo Mansion was under renovation, so it looked a bit messy. It seemed like traveling to Dream of Red Mansions when we went in. Many movies have been filmed here, and there are many introductions. Then we came to Longxing Temple and finally saw Zhengding Big Buddha Temple. Longxing Temple covers an area of 82,500 square meters. There are six cultural relics in the temple that are the best in the country: the Mani Temple of the Song Dynasty, which is praised by ancient building expert Mr. Liang Sicheng as a unique example of ancient architecture in the world; the inverted Guanyin praised by Mr. Lu Xun as the "Oriental Beauty Goddess"; the largest early Chinese revolving treasury; the Longzang Temple stele, which is praised as the first Sui stele; the tallest bronze Buddha in ancient China; the most exquisite bronze Vairocana Buddha in ancient China. There were not many people when we went there, and there were many halls inside, but some were not allowed to enter. We carefully appreciated every building and every culture. It is worth a visit.
The first batch of national cultural relics, the scale is huge and amazing. Five-star praise.

It is one of the earliest, largest and most well-preserved Buddhist temples in China. On June 26, 2016, the State Post Bureau also issued a set of two stamps of "Zhengding Longxing Temple", which are the Mani Temple and the Great Compassion Pavilion. Take bus No. 135 from Zhengding Railway Station and get off at the terminal Dafo Temple bus stop to reach Longxing Temple.
It has a long history, and the chakravartin inside is stunning, and is said to be the earliest existing one in China. The Thousand-armed Thousand-eyed Guanyin is said to be the largest and oldest in the world. The thousand-year-old locust tree has a dragon and a phoenix, and is full of prayers. It was raining the day I went there, and it was quiet.
Although it is famous, has history, and has... but the place where it was born is too small, and there are too few incense sticks and tourists.

I was on a business trip in Hebei and landed at Zhengding Airport, which is 20 kilometers away from Longxing Temple. It is worth a visit. The tour guide is professional and beautiful. An hour's explanation will give you a full understanding of the past and present of Longxing Temple.
As a villager, I have visited Longxing Temple (Big Buddha Temple) four times. I have been to many ancient temples, but Big Buddha Temple is my favorite. I suggest that everyone ask the tour guide to give a lecture. Most of the explanations are quite good. Of course, you can also listen...
Unlike ordinary temples, this place is not full of incense. Incense is strictly prohibited here. It is strictly prohibited to disturb the mundane world. There is no Buddhist chanting in the morning and evening bells; there is no greed for making wishes and praying; the heart is calm but surging! What fascinates me is not just the admiration for the Buddha, but more of being impressed by the pure and superb skills of human beings thousands of years ago, and I am also moved by the luck of being able to survive through various hardships for thousands of years. The Dafo Temple was first built in the Sui Dynasty. The main buildings left at present are basically from the Song and Qing Dynasties. The buildings thousands of years ago are magnificent, and there are no less than ten thousand-year-old trees.
As the largest ancient Buddhist temple in the north, Dafo Temple has six unique masterpieces! The first is the main hall, Mani Hall. It was built in the Song Dynasty. The whole building is very different from the Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings we often see now. There is a hip-and-gable porch with a pediment facing forward in the middle of each of the four sides of the square hall. Standing in front of the hall, you will be impressed by its majestic momentum. The complex architectural details have no rivets, and it has stood for thousands of years without falling. It is the best art among the existing ancient buildings in China. Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin visited it three times.
The second piece is a statue of Guanyin in the middle of a clay relief wall. You may have seen many Guanyin statues in various temples, but this one is absolutely unique. It is a male Guanyin sitting with his legs crossed and looking down at the earth with a smile. No matter where you stand, he seems to be looking at you. Even Mona Lisa would be shy if she saw him! He was called the Oriental Goddess of Beauty by Lu Xun, and everyone who has been to the Big Buddha Temple will be attracted by him.
The third piece is called Vairocana Buddha, which was made by Emperor Shenzong of the Ming Dynasty for his mother's birthday. This Buddha statue is six meters high and is divided into three layers. Each layer has four Buddhas facing different directions sitting on lotus flowers. There are a total of 1024 Buddhas of different sizes on this Buddha statue, each with a different appearance and expression. Those who are interested can count them.
The fourth item is a stone tablet. The author is not a great writer, but the characters on the tablet are great national treasures. This tablet was built in the Sui Dynasty and is the earliest surviving regular script stele.
The fifth piece is the Sutra Repository Wheel. The construction is so wonderful. It is seven meters in diameter. The upper part of the Sutra Repository is in the shape of double eaves, the lower eaves are octagonal, and the brackets are in the style of eight-fold (that is, the brackets extend outwards five times), which is an example of the most brackets extending outwards in early my country. The upper eaves are round and the eaves extend outwards, which is a typical construction method of the Song Dynasty "Construction Method". It is the oldest and largest Sutra Repository in China. Now this thousand-year-old wheel can still rotate. The architects of that time were really great! It is a pity that this technique has been lost and such a masterpiece can no longer be made.
The sixth piece of the Big Buddha Temple gets its name from it. The world's tallest ancient bronze Thousand-armed Thousand-eyed Guanyin Bodhisattva, 21.9 meters tall, was built in the Northern Song Dynasty. Its size and the details of its carvings are unique in the world.
Finally, I would like to recommend a Liang Sicheng Memorial Hall in an inconspicuous corner of the side hall. If you have time, you must go there. Words are limited, so please understand it yourself...
The ancient buildings of Longxing Temple were loved by Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin, and most of the inscriptions in the temple are masterpieces.
Longxing Temple, which was first built in the sixth year of Kaihuang in the Sui Dynasty, was built by Zhao Kuangyin, the founding emperor of the Song Dynasty. It is majestic and well-preserved, and enjoys a high reputation both at home and abroad. It was praised by the famous ancient architecture expert Liang Sicheng as "the first famous temple outside Beijing". It has always been favored by emperors of all dynasties, especially Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong, Jiaqing, Guangxu and Cixi of the Qing Dynasty, who visited and stayed there many times to burn incense and worship Buddha.
Take a bus to the Big Buddha Temple. It is called the Big Buddha Temple locally. There is a nearly 20-meter-high Buddha statue inside. There are Song Dynasty buildings and Buddha statues. There is also a Liang Sicheng Memorial Hall.
At the East Square of Shijiazhuang Station, take bus No. 148 for 2 yuan and get off at the west entrance of Changshan Road or at Zhengding Bus Station. There are taxi drivers soliciting passengers everywhere at the train station. Even when I asked a police assistant, he told me that he could find a taxi to take you to stop No. 148 for 10 yuan, and then spend 2 yuan on the bus to Zhengding. In fact, stop No. 148 is 200 meters away at the East Square. I asked the elderly locals to avoid those soliciting passengers. The soliciting passengers also said that you can't find No. 148 even if you go to the underground bus station. I got off at the West Square. The station is divided into the East Square and the West Square. There is no clear route for all the trains. It seems that it is really like the subway, indicating which bus goes to which place at the entrance and exit, or there is a general bus route map at the station. Shijiazhuang Station is really far from humanization. There are no details.
Zhengding Longxing Temple is not only one of the top ten famous temples in China, but also the largest royal temple in the north. As a national key cultural relic protection unit, the temple is full of cultural relics, including the Mani Temple, a unique Song Dynasty building praised by ancient architecture expert Liang Sicheng as the pinnacle of art, the Longzang Temple Stele, the first Sui Dynasty stele, and the Thousand-armed Guanyin, the largest bronze Buddha in ancient times in the world. It is the only one of its kind.
There are few modern traces. The Thousand-Armed Guanyin is quite stunning, but you are not allowed to take photos.
In addition to its religious culture, the temple's architectural, pictorial and historical value is immeasurable.
Zhengding Longxing Temple is near the east gate of Zhengding. The ticket is 50 yuan and it usually takes 2-3 hours to visit. There is a bus to the front of the temple, and it is convenient to eat and stay nearby.
Longxing Temple is well-known and I have heard too many stories about it. The Temple's Heavenly King Hall, Mani Hall, Wheel of Revelation Pavilion, and Cishi Pavilion are four buildings built in the Song Dynasty.
Its Mani Temple, the five-colored hanging statue of Avalokitesvara, the chakravartin, the regular script stele of the Sui Dynasty's "Longzang Temple Stele", the Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Avalokitesvara, and the bronze Vairocana Buddha are known as the six best in China.
The Thousand-Armed Thousand-Eyed Guanyin in the Great Compassion Pavilion is commonly known as the "Zhengding Big Buddha" and is known as one of the "Four Treasures of Hebei" along with the Cangzhou Iron Lion, Dingzhou Pagoda, and Zhaozhou Stone Bridge.
The name and rendering of this series make you have to go and take a look at it.
Longxing Temple is located inside the east gate of Zhengding Old Town. It is commonly known as the Big Buddha Temple. It was first built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. It was originally the Longteng Garden of Murong Xi of the Later Yan during the Sixteen Kingdoms period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. It was converted into a temple in 586 AD (the sixth year of Kaihuang in the reign of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty) and was called Longzang Temple. It was renamed Longxing Temple in the Tang Dynasty and Longxing Temple in the Qing Dynasty. The temple covers an area of 82,500 square meters. Except for two stele pavilions, most of the temple buildings are from the Song Dynasty. It is the only remaining Song Dynasty building complex.
There are many things to see in it, please see my post for details.
Longxing Temple is also known as the Big Buddha Temple in Zhengding. It is quite large and worth a visit. There is also a large garden inside. Many foreign friends come here. Some of the statues inside are unique in China and carry thousands of years of history. There are many ancient tablets with inscriptions by emperors. It is still quite spectacular.
We went there on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year. There were so many people, and people were praying everywhere. It wasn't a good time, I'll go again when I have the chance😔
Zhengding County cannot be compared with the counties under the jurisdiction of Tianjin. They are not on the same "starting line". Haha
The most amazing thing in the Ancient Architecture Museum is the Mani Temple.
The 50 yuan ticket is good value for money, but the ticket office did not indicate that combined tickets were available, which resulted in our group of eight not being able to buy combined tickets to save money. What a rip-off.
The travel advertisement of "Chaowen Tianxia" has been showing "Zhengding, Hebei, Longxing Temple". This year, the post office also released stamps for Longxing Temple. Curious, I also searched in the text until I found that it was not far to go there. The ticket for Longxing Temple is 50 yuan, and there are joint tickets for Tianning Temple and Zhengding Four Pagodas for 60 yuan and 65 yuan. You can decide whether to buy a joint ticket based on the length of your stay. Longxing Temple is very large. From the moment you enter the temple, there are halls one after another. The Buddha statues enshrined in each hall have their own characteristics. During the period, I also saw the staff repairing the murals in the hall. The extremely meticulous work made people admire it. It was drizzling in Zhengding on the day of the tour. There was an indescribable sense of comfort wandering in the temple in the rain. There are buses from Zhengding Railway Station to Longxing Temple, but it is more convenient to take a taxi, which costs 10 yuan for the whole journey.
When you arrive in Zhengding City, you must go to Longxing Temple. You should slowly look at and feel the ancient temple.
Longxing Temple, still called Dafo Temple by Zhengding people, is said in historical records that the temple was originally Longteng Garden of Murong Xi of Later Yan during the Eastern Jin Dynasty. In the sixth year of Kaihuang of Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty, the temple was rebuilt in the garden and was called Longzang Temple at that time. It was renamed Longxing Temple in Tang Dynasty. If we were to rank the scenic spots in Zhengding, Longxing Temple would definitely be ranked first. The State Post Office once issued special stamps of "Zhengding Longxing Temple".
