Rongguo Mansion was strictly designed and built according to the Chinese classic "Dream of Red Mansions". It is an antique building complex with Ming and Qing styles, divided into two parts: the mansion and the street. It was built in 1986, covering an area of more than 40,000 square meters, with 215 rooms of various sizes and 102 corridors.
The TV series "Dream of Red Mansions" was filmed here for nearly two months in 1986. Since then, more than 100 TV series have been filmed here, including "Flying Fox of Snow Mountain", "Dawn of Ancient City", "Oriental Merchant", "Niu Zihou and Fu Liancheng", etc. This place is known as the "Hollywood" of China.
Ningrong Street, which was completed at the same time as Rongguo Mansion, is located on the right side of Rongguo Mansion. It is a commercial street with a strong antique flavor. There are about 51 shops in total. Imitation Qing Dynasty signs and banners are hung in front of the shops, just like an ancient market.
On the 15th day of the first lunar month, a temple fair with local characteristics will be held around Rongguo Mansion, with various traditional performances and food vendors, the scene is particularly spectacular.

In 1983, CCTV was going to film "Dream of Red Mansions" and was looking for local governments to build a temporary outdoor location for "Rongguo Mansion". Xi Jinping realized the business opportunity and believed that building "Rongguo Mansion" into a permanent building would boost the tourism industry in Zhengding County along with "Dream of Red Mansions". Xi Jinping sent someone to contact CCTV, and the Zhengding County Party Committee and the County Government established a special agency to prepare for the construction of "Rongguo Mansion", leaving a permanent tourist attraction for Zhengding.
The cost of temporary buildings and permanent buildings is not the same. In the end, Rongguo Mansion cost 3.5 million yuan, which was a huge sum of money at the time. The crew did not have so much money, and the county did not have it either, so they had to raise funds from all sides, and there were many different opinions. In fact, the construction of such artificial attractions imitating ancient buildings is very risky. In some areas, there are many areas that blindly start projects and end up with unfinished projects. Rongguo Mansion was able to recover its investment and gain recognition after the filming of the TV series. One reason is the impression of the famous novel "Dream of Red Mansions". On the other hand, there are many cultural relics in the ancient city of Zhengding, which creates a clustering effect to attract tourists. In short, there are many comprehensive factors that affect the success of a decision, and you also have to match the strategic vision and coordination and organizational skills of a leader.
The construction of Rongguo Mansion started in December 1984 and was completed in July 1986. The crew of Dream of Red Mansions filmed in Rongguo Mansion for nearly two months, with more than 2,000 scenes. The 1987 version of Dream of Red Mansions, including "The Princess's Visit to Her Parents" and "Qin Keqing's Funeral", were all filmed in Rongguo Mansion. Rongguo Mansion became popular immediately. In 1987, after the TV series Dream of Red Mansions was broadcast, it became even more popular.
The main attractions of the entire scenic area are Rongguo Mansion Scenic Area, Ningrong Street Scenic Area, Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall and other landscapes. The overall layout of Rongguo Mansion Scenic Area is a quadrangle with three roads and five entrances. Go north from the middle road, turn to the west road at the north end and go south without turning back. Finally, come out from the southwest corner and visit Ningrong Street. The total area covers an area of 22,000 square meters and the building area is 4,700 square meters. It was designed and built based on the "Rongguo Mansion" described in the Chinese classic "Dream of Red Mansions".
The Rongguo Mansion was used as a filming location for TV series such as A Dream of Red Mansions, The Snow Mountain Flying Fox, The New Justice Bao, The Biography of Zheng Banqiao, and the movie The Way of Heroes.
Rongguo Mansion is an antique building complex built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, based on the "golden gate, jade door, fairy palace, laurel palace, orchid palace, concubine's home" described in "Dream of Red Mansions". It has 212 rooms and 102 corridors. The middle road is Rongfu Gate, Waiyi Gate, Xiangnan Hall, Neiyi Hall, Rongxi Hall, Houweifang, Jia Zheng Public Affairs Office, which are painted in palace style. The east and west roads are inner courtyards, which are painted in Su style. The west road has the west corner gate, hanging flower gate, marble screen hall, Jia Mu's flower hall, Jia Mu's main room, Rongqing Hall, and Fengjie's courtyard. The east road is Wang Furen's Courtyard and Jia She's Courtyard.
The Rongguo Mansion scenic area was completed in August 1986, which took 1 year and 8 months and cost more than 3.5 million yuan. Rongguo Mansion and Ningrong Street were designed and built to cooperate with the filming of the TV series "Dream of Red Mansions". They were strictly designed and built according to the "Golden Gate, Jade House, Immortal Mansion, Gui Palace, and Orchid Palace, Concubine's Home" described in the classic literary masterpiece "Dream of Red Mansions" and the common standards of Chinese Qing Dynasty wooden structure buildings. They were also built in reference to the architectural system of princes' mansions stipulated in the "Da Qing Hui Dian". It is a building complex imitating the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. It is divided into two parts, Rongguo Mansion and Ningrong Street, covering an area of 22,000 square meters, of which the building area is 4,700 square meters, with 212 rooms and 102 corridors.
I just watched the 1987 version of Dream of the Red Chamber last year. I came to Zhengding for a meeting and stopped by Rongguo Mansion. I followed the tour guide from another group and listened to the tour guide. The young lady was very good at explaining. The old man in the group was from Jinan and came from Beijing. He was very knowledgeable. Perfect!
This is the film and television base of Dream of Red Mansions. You can take many beautiful photos here and it is worth a visit.
You can go to man-made attractions or not, some people say it is a rip-off
There were a lot of people there that day. In fact, it was just an antique building built for the filming of Dream of the Red Chamber.
I have no interest in artificial film and television facilities like Rongguo Mansion, and the several courtyards in the mansion are mainly wax figures. I didn't expect that there were so many people here to appreciate the flowers, but I only saw people's heads and no flowers. Therefore, although Rongguo Mansion is not small, it is enough to spend an hour there.
It is modeled after a tourist attraction, quite beautiful, check in at the door.
Very good. Although there are many people during the Spring Festival, it does not hinder her charm and is worth going.
A reproduction of the Rongguo Mansion in Dream of the Red Chamber. You must go and see it when you go there!
The paper is full of nonsense and bitter tears. Everyone says the author is crazy, but who can understand the meaning?
Friends who like Dream of the Red Chamber can go and have a look. It has the architectural pattern of the northern Ming and Qing quadrangle courtyards, with deep courtyards. There is also a Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall inside.
The roads are clean and tidy, and the Rongguo Mansion is well-renovated, but it is too small.
It was my second time to visit Rongguo Mansion in Zhengding. It has changed a lot in ten years. The roads are clean and tidy, and the interior of Rongguo Mansion is well-repaired. But it is too small. Accompanied by the interlude of the TV series "Dream of Red Mansions", the people in Dream of Red Mansions are vivid in my mind. Although it is small, it is worth a visit!
Every time I go to a place, I will think of the plots in the book and the scenes in the TV series. It is like reminiscing and traveling through time. If I didn’t walk enough once, I would go back and walk again. In fact, Rongguo Mansion is not big, but because I love "Dream of Red Mansions" so much, I feel that this mansion is like Beijing's Grand View Garden, which contains too much of my deep affection and imagination for "Dream of Red Mansions".
Rongguo Mansion was built strictly according to the original novel, and the splendor of "a family of wealth and luxury, and a family of poetry, books and calligraphy" is reproduced. The characters and scenes in the original novel are restored inside, and important story plots such as Baoyu's first meeting with Daiyu, Granny Liu's visit to the Grand View Garden, Princess Yuan's visit to her parents, Baoyu being beaten, and Daiyu burying flowers are all presented. What is unique is the wax figures of the characters, which are not only lifelike, but also have eyes that can roll around and are very smart.
Every April, the crabapple blossoms in Jia Mu's courtyard in Rongguo Mansion are still in full bloom!
This was the location for the filming of "Dream of Red Mansions" in 1986. It is now known as China's "Hollywood" by the world, and more than 170 movies and TV series have been filmed here.
Rongguo Mansion is very big. I spent nearly 3 hours here. If you like "Dream of Red Mansions", you may spend more time here.
If you come here during the Qingming Festival, you will see a garden full of crabapple flowers. You will also be lucky enough to see a crabapple poetry gathering where many people recite poems on the spot.
There is a guard road in Rongguo Mansion. Its function is to serve as a guard road for night watchmen and also as the boundary between the inner and outer houses of Rongguo Mansion.
The area is a bit small, and there are many people going there during the Qingming Festival, which affects the viewing experience. The wax figures inside left the deepest impression on me, which are very lifelike and vivid.
Rongguo Mansion was specially built by the Central Film Channel for the filming of the 1986 version of "Dream of Red Mansions". After its completion, it became the best tourist attraction in Zhengding County. It is said that the construction was almost cancelled due to lack of money. It was only after Da Da made the connection and lobbied the mayor of Shijiazhuang and some companies that enough money was raised to build Rongguo Mansion.
Rongguo Mansion is a building imitating the Ming and Qing Dynasties, which was basically built according to the requirements of the royal residences at that time. It is divided into five courtyards with three major sections: east, middle and west, with a total area of more than 40,000 square meters. At the same time, according to the story content of "Dream of Red Mansions", dozens of scenes and more than 100 characters were designed, and sub-items such as Jia Mu's main room, Rongqing Hall, and Fengjie Courtyard were completed, restoring the style of Mr. Cao's original work as much as possible.
There is also a Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall in the southeast corner of the building, with a statue and a few exhibits, but I don't know much about it. But I prefer the long passages in the mansion, which are classical, natural, and have a heavy sense of story. The gray and white stone bricks are shining brightly in the light of the west. There is no one around, and I feel like a traveler passing through a time tunnel, as if I have returned to the Ming and Qing dynasties.
The first point of interest is to remember the difficulties Cao Xueqin faced in writing Dream of the Red Chamber and the scenes in the 1987 version of Dream of the Red Chamber. But if you go there in spring, the flowers on the trees will add a lot of color.
Very good! It's very big and meaningful. After returning, I decided to read the book Dream of the Red Chamber again and watch the old and new versions of the Dream of the Red Chamber TV series again.
Rongguo Mansion is located at No. 51 Xingrong Road, covering an area of 37,000 square meters. It is a national 4A scenic spot. The TV series "Dream of Red Mansions" shot more than 2,000 shots here, and 200 film and television works have been filmed here. Rongguo Mansion has major buildings such as Rongqing Hall, Rongxi Hall, Jia Zheng Courtyard, Wang Xifeng's Residence, Jia Mu Courtyard, Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall, etc. The original scene reproduces many classic shots of the TV series "Dream of Red Mansions". It is a popular place for cultural tourism of Dream of Red Mansions. If you ask a tour guide at the visitor center at the entrance to explain and listen while walking, you will have a deeper and more detailed understanding of the Red Mansion culture. The tour takes one hour.
This is where the TV series Dream of Red Mansions was filmed. I personally feel it is just average.
The garden is much bigger than expected. The ticket I booked online is 18 yuan, which is very affordable. Although the weather is very hot, it is okay to visit in the shade. There is also a garden under repair inside, which is worth a visit. There are many courtyards. When you enter each house, there will be a voice introduction to the scene, as well as text descriptions and portraits. If you haven't read Dream of Red Mansions, you can come to make up for it. It's pretty good. There are many exhibits. You can spend 1-2 hours to take a detailed look.
It's very average. Ningrong Street in the scenic area is closed for repairs, so the ticket is half-price, but don't expect this half-price ticket. Other scenic spots are all scaffolding + paint, the scene layout is destroyed, and even part of the stele exhibition is occupied by pawnshops. Look at this film and television exhibition, the things from 10 years ago have not been replaced, and now it's the 31st anniversary. The only thing that touched me was the stele exhibition, which was engraved with various poems that appeared in Dream of Red Mansions. In fact, it's better to revisit the TV series. The scenic spot is like the Jia family, a true portrayal of prosperity and decline! PS: It happened that the crew of Hunan Satellite TV's Little Drama Bone Dream of Red Mansions was filming here.
It is famous for the filming of Dream of the Red Chamber, but only has Rongguo Mansion but not the Grand View Garden.
I didn’t go in, I just took a look at the outside view at the door.
The building is magnificent and covers a large area. It is a park with courtyards as the main body, introducing the theme of Dream of Red Mansions. It is also the main filming location of the TV series Dream of Red Mansions. After visiting the courtyard, I have a clearer understanding of Dream of Red Mansions. The detailed introduction of characters and psychological analysis of Dream of Red Mansions gave me a deeper understanding and insight into the book Dream of Red Mansions. It is worth visiting and learning.
Rongguo Mansion is an antique building modeled after the one described in the novel Dream of the Red Chamber. The ticket price of 40 yuan was a bit expensive when I went there, and the place was not big.
For me who likes "Dream of Red Mansions", when I arrive in Zhengding, I must visit Rongguo Mansion. Rongguo Mansion strictly follows the description in Cao Xueqin's book - Jinmen Yuhu Fairy Mansion, Guidian Lan Palace Concubine's Home, from every pavilion and corridor, every courtyard, you can see the description of people's daily life in the paragraphs in the book. You can stroll to Rongguo Mansion from Longxing Temple. Although the distance is not close and you need to take a detour, it is also good to see along the way. The double ticket purchased in the evening is 70 yuan, and the ticket is exchanged at the visitor center. There is no paper ticket. A small number of exhibition halls are separated and additional visiting fees or photo fees are charged. The price is not expensive, but it still feels bad. There are not many visitors, but most people come here because of their love for the 1987 version of "Dream of Red Mansions". I hope that more and more people in China like "Dream of Red Mansions" and Redology. There are still many unknowns in this great work of Mr. Cao, which requires us to carefully study.
Not recommended unless you have a special liking for the TV version of Dream of the Red Chamber.
87 The filming location of Dream of Red Mansions is different from the novel. It has five entrances and three floors. The scenic area is large and quite interesting. You can learn about the traditional Chinese residential layout and planning.
During the Qingming Festival, I went to the prestigious Rongguo Mansion. I didn't know it was the filming location of the old version of Dream of Red Mansions until I arrived. It was also a later construction rather than a building that was circulated in ancient times. I'm here to find faults today, so I won't say anything good. The ticket price of 40 is a bit expensive, and you will feel it's not worth it after visiting. There are not many comments on the courtyard buildings. The sculptures of the characters inside are really fake! Moreover, no one has maintained it for a long time. The costumes of the characters feel dirty and earthy. The hair of the characters is drooping and messy. In particular, the hair of many characters covers their eyes and most of their faces. The scene of Bao Dai watching the West Chamber is like a fierce ghost out of the cage! Secondly, it's really a wry smile. Baoyu's place of becoming a monk offers Buddha, and tourists are asked to light incense and buy talismans. I have to admire these people who are racking their brains to make money. Can we still travel well! The staff entered and exited the rooms in various scenes at will, washing, resting, eating, and making loud noises in them. I couldn't hear the explanation clearly, okay? It's too undisciplined and feels very disrespectful to tourists. Is Yiyuan on the west side of the mansion really unworthy of this name? Can you decorate it with some snacks? It looks like an abandoned vegetable garden. Many domestic scenic spots are like this. They don't pay attention to the decoration of the scenic spots, but only pay attention to collecting money. This is really disrespectful to tourists and also disrespectful to their own industry. Please be careful.
Zhengding has become a popular tourist attraction in Beijing and Tianjin in recent years, and Rongguo Mansion is one of the must-see places.
In general, people who love Dream of the Red Chamber can go there. Almost every room has a voice-over explanation, which feels quite considerate. You can also experience the layout of the year by walking through it.
When I went there, there was a show at the entrance, which was very good. The scenery was very nice. There were also calligraphy, all the historical knowledge about Dream of the Red Chamber, the back garden, etc., Cao Xueqin's life resume, and the environment was also good.
Not many people come here. You can buy tickets online at Tongcheng.com. Adult tickets are 36 and student tickets are 18. However, if you buy student tickets online, you need to scan the QR code and pay in cash. There are explanations in every room in the courtyard, which is quite convenient. It should be infrared sensing. The mannequins I saw at the beginning were okay, but the room of Jia Mu inside was scary. =_= And the place where Baoyu worshipped in the hall, I was drunk. It should be repaired. Some of the hands are gone. Those who like the Dream of the Red Chamber can still come to visit. Since I went to Shijiazhuang on a business trip, there seemed to be no place to go in the city except the museum, so I came to Zhengding. But I still feel that there is nothing to see.
In general, the Rongguo Mansion in Zhengding was built only for the purpose of filming, and its layout is somewhat different from the description in Cao Xueqin's original work.
During the Qingming Festival, the crabapple blossoms and petals fall in a riot of colour. The Dream of the Red Mansion and the Twelve Golden Hairpins seem vaguely...
Rongguo Mansion is a feudal royal palace built in accordance with the description in A Dream of Red Mansions as "a fairy palace with golden gates and jade doors, and a concubine's home with laurel palaces and orchid palaces". It covers an area of 22,000 square meters and has a construction area of 4,700 square meters.
It opens at 8:30 in the morning. As many travel enthusiasts have said, if you are not particularly interested in the 1986 version of Red Mansions, you can actually not plan a trip here. After all, it is a newly built building, not a historical site. However, it is still very exquisitely built and is a good place to film.
The ticket is 40 yuan, a little expensive, the Forbidden City is only 60 yuan
A somewhat desolate Rongguo Mansion, just like the one in Dream of the Red Chamber. The Rongguo Mansion, which cost 3.5 million yuan to build, is now sparsely populated. It is a bit like a reflection of each other.
The Rongguo Mansion scenic area in Zhengding is not as grand as imagined. Although there are many courtyards, they are all very small.
The Rongguo Mansion in Zhengding is just a series of imitation Qing Dynasty buildings, with some crude sculptures inside. There is really nothing to see. So no matter which city you go to in the future, I advise you not to visit modern buildings like this.
Like Zhao Yun Temple, Rongguo Mansion is also a modern building with no historical background and no special features, so I suggest you don’t visit it. Besides, the ticket price of Rongguo Mansion is the most expensive, 30 yuan, which is the least worthwhile attraction.
All of them were newly built in the 1980s when Dream of the Red Chamber was filmed. In fact, there is really nothing to see. When we went there, there was a performance of Granny Liu entering the Grand View Garden, which was quite lively.
Except that the tickets are a bit expensive, everything else is good. This is the filming location of the old version of Dream of Red Mansions, so it is quite immersive and impressive.
