Songshan Scenic Area

It was my first time climbing Songshan Mountain. I didn't know that it was divided into Taishi Mountain and Shaoshi Mountain until I got there. When I got out of the station, I took a taxi directly to Songyang Academy. I started climbing Taishi Mountain from the academy. It took about three hours to reach the top of Junji Peak. There was a steep step in the middle, which was very exciting. Along the way, you can see this geological museum up close. The rocks are very distinctive. When you get up there, you can overlook the entire Dengfeng, and you can vaguely see the Shaolin Temple on Shaoshi Mountain in the west. I went down the mountain from the weather station. The slope was relatively gentle, and there were many small surprises. Unfortunately, it didn't rain for many days, and the waterfall was small. After going down the mountain, there was a lack of public transportation. It all depended on luck to take a car. I took a taxi back to the city because there was a taxi to send passengers. I think Songshan is the business card of Henan, and the local area still needs to strengthen management and provide good services.

One of our six-person group members left for Huashan, Shaanxi today, and the remaining five of us climbed Songshan and visited Shaolin! After breakfast at the hotel, we drove on the highway to Zhongyue Songshan, 87 kilometers away.



This trip started from Datong in the north, where we visited the Yungang Grottoes and climbed Mount Heng, the northernmost mountain.

At the end of the trip, we arrived at the ancient capital of Luoyang, visited the Longmen Grottoes, and climbed Mount Song, the central peak.

I drew a complete circle. Who designed such a perfect itinerary? It's amazing! Oh, it's me.



Songshan Scenic Area is very large, including Taishi Mountain in the east, Shaoshi Mountain in the west, and the cultural Shaolin Temple. Compared with the religious atmosphere of Shaolin Temple, I prefer to climb high and look far. According to netizens, the most worthwhile place to see the natural scenery is the Sanhuangzhai Scenic Area.



Considering the inconvenient transportation at the entrance of Sanhuangzhai, there is little room for negotiation when taking a taxi, and there is a possibility of being ripped off. In order to avoid going back and forth, we designed a plan to first drive to the parking lot at the entrance of Shaolin Scenic Area, then stop a taxi on the roadside to take us around the entrance of Sanhuangzhai behind the mountain, where we started climbing. It took about 3 hours to reach the top of Songshan Mountain, then take the cable car down the mountain to the Shaolin Temple in front of the mountain, and then pick up the car at the entrance to return. In the end, it turned out that this itinerary was perfect, with beautiful scenery, saving manpower, time and money.



From the entrance of Sanhuangzhai, the first thing you see is a straight 100-meter mountain climbing ladder - Haohanpo. It's okay, just walk slowly and you will soon reach the mountainside. Then we shuttled through the mountains and forests of Songshan Mountain and continued to climb up the stairs on the rocks. The mountain trails are all cement walking trails. It's not difficult to walk, but it's a vertical climb, which hurts your knees, so remember to wear knee pads.



After 45 minutes, we arrived at the Nantianmen Observation Deck and looked out over the beautiful peaks and buildings of Sanhuangzhai.



We continued forward, and began to circle forward between the huge stone mountains, up and down, passing by the Xuantian Cave, the Elephant Trunk Rock, and passing through the Skyline and the Stone Gate. Looking down at the stone steps, remember to look back at the scenery behind you, and you will find that the scenery has a different beauty from a different angle.



There is a small shop in front of the blue cliff suspension bridge where you can sit on the rocks to have a good rest, drink water and eat dry food before setting off again.



The following section shows the magic of the movement of the ground in Zhongyue Songshan. The rocks of "Book Cliff" look like a row of books tilted on a bookshelf, which is very magical. It is a wonder in Songshan that must be seen and felt in person.



In less than three hours, we reached the cable car at the top of the mountain, and after a long cable car, we arrived at the Shaolin Temple at the foot of the mountain.

Friends who have been to Songshan before don't recommend going there, saying the scenery is average, Shaolin Temple is a rip-off, etc. But when you go up the mountain from Sanhuangzhai, the scenery is not just beautiful, it's super beautiful. But going up the mountain is a life. Haha.

Songshan, also known as Waifang, Songgao, and Chonggao in ancient times, is located in the central part of Henan Province and belongs to the Funiu Mountain System. It is located in the northwest of Dengfeng City and is the Central Peak of the Five Sacred Mountains. With a total area of about 450 square kilometers, Songshan is divided into Shaoshi Mountain and Taishi Mountain, with a total of 72 peaks, and the highest peak, Liantian Peak, is 1,512 meters high. Taishi Mountain has average scenery, but it has one of the four major academies in China, Songyang Academy. The Sanhuangzhai scenic area in Shaoshi Mountain is great, the most beautiful place in Songshan. Shaolin Temple in Shaoshi Mountain is also famous all over the world. Be sure to watch a Shaolin Temple martial arts performance (charged).

Before I got to Songshan, I saw martial arts schools all along the way. Oh my god! When I got to Songshan, the atmosphere of martial arts became even stronger. Songshan itself is worth climbing. It is still very shocking to experience the power of martial arts in person.

This cableway is really good, it goes through the mountains. It takes more than an hour to climb to the top of the mountain, which is very good. It is a bit tiring along the way, so it is better to bring more water.

We took the cable car up and walked from the cable car down to the cable bridge. It took 3 hours in total. The hanging plank road at Shuce Cliff and the steep turn at the back were a bit scary, but the rest of the area was OK. It felt safe, surrounded by jungle, and there were plenty of chairs. Shaoshi Mountain is very different from Taishan Mountain. Haha.

Songshan Mountain is divided into Taishi Mountain and Shaoshi Mountain. Shaolin Temple and the most beautiful Sanhuangzhai are both in Shaoshi Mountain. Taishi Mountain has the highest peak of Songshan Mountain, Junji Peak. It is best to enter Sanhuangzhai and exit Shaolin Temple when visiting Shaoshi Mountain. It takes about three or four hours to reach the cableway entrance if you set off a little earlier in the morning. The scenery is not repeated in the middle, and then take the cableway down to Shaolin Temple to watch martial arts performances. There are many buses from the Shaolin Temple scenic area back to Dengfeng City, which costs ten yuan per person. It may take longer to climb Taishi Mountain, usually going straight up and down from Chongyang Academy, but it is said that the best scenery is on the waterfall side, and it takes a little more time to turn to that road to go down the mountain.

Three Mountains and Five Peaks Tour

The one in Taishi Mountain is Songshan Mountain among the Five Great Mountains, because there is a sign here, and there is also Junji Peak.

As the most sacred mountain among the Three Mountains and Five Peaks, how can you not climb Songshan when you come to Dengfeng? I have been here twice and I am looking forward to the third time.

This is how to play Songshan Shaolin Temple and Sanhuangzhai. Take a bus to Shaolin Temple at 7:00 or 7:20 in the morning at Dengfeng Bus Terminal. The fare is 5 yuan. Buy tickets and walk to Shaolin Temple, then visit the Hall of Five Hundred Arhats on the opposite side. Then walk back 300 meters to watch the Shaolin martial arts performance at 9:30. After the performance, go to the Pagoda Forest. After the performance, go uphill to the right and take the Sanhuangzhai cable car one-way up the mountain. Play Sanhuangzhai all the way. Don't go back. The cable car fee is 70 yuan. The scenic tour of Sanhuangzhai takes about 3 hours, and then go down the mountain from Sanhuangzhai Haohanpo about a thousand steps to the exit of Sanhuangzhai. Around 3 pm. This is the best way to play Shaolin Scenic Area and Sanhuangzhai without being too tired! At the exit of Sanhuangzhai, there are 2 people. If you have a private car for 40 yuan to take you to the Dengfeng bus stops of No. 3 and No. 1, you can take the bus back to the city!

It is too tiring to visit Junji Peak in Songyang Scenic Area. The road from Songyang Academy to the ticket office of Taishishan Square is too far, and it takes 2 hours to walk uphill. After entering the gate and going up the mountain, two temples are under construction. It takes another 2 hours to reach Junji Palace, and then walk up the higher steps. There is a stone tablet Junji Peak on the top of the mountain. The scenery on the mountain in Songyang Scenic Area is average. Please do it according to your ability for the 8-hour vigorous walking trip!

Why not visit the Fawang Temple on the right side of the mountain? Or take Dengfeng No. 2 bus to Zhongyue Temple! The following four mobile phone photos were taken at Sanhuangzhai!

You need to take a cable car to go up the mountain. The scenery on the mountain is average. The places with good scenery are also monopolized by people who pay to take snapshots. The temples on the mountain are commercialized.

At that time, I climbed Mount Song because of its reputation as one of the Five Great Mountains. Mount Song is divided into the Taishi Mountain Scenic Area and the Shaoshi Mountain Scenic Area. The main peak of Mount Taishi is Junji Peak, which has average scenery and an altitude of more than 1,500 meters. It takes 5-6 hours to walk the entire way, which can be considered as a check-in.

The sunlight conditions are directly related to the climbing conditions. If it is foggy or rainy, it will be more dangerous, the road will be difficult to walk on, and the scenery will be affected. But if it is a sunny day, it will be different. The scenery will be beautiful and walking will be easier, but it will be hotter. The weather was very good that day. Like Mount Song and Mount Heng, the place where you buy tickets is not the real entrance. You still need to hike a few kilometers. There are still places selling water and food at the entrance of Mount Song, so you can also replenish your backpack.

The road signs at Songshan are not very good. I personally feel that they are the worst among the Five Sacred Mountains. I also climbed Songshan during the day. If you want to go down the mountain after reaching the top, I would like to give you some advice. There are two ways to go down the mountain. One way is to return the original way. The other way is to go down the mountain in the direction of Luya Waterfall.

It is impossible to see vegetation when climbing Songshan Mountain in this season, because I have already climbed all the Three Mountains and Five Peaks. So I can compare it horizontally with Zhongyue. The closest to Zhongyue is Hengshan Mountain, and the scenery is very similar. If it were a little steeper, it would be a bit like Huashan Mountain. This scenery has its own characteristics.

Shuceyan is very distinctive, but Shaolin Temple is the most famous in Shaoshishan. Due to time constraints, I didn't go to Sanhuangzhai, but overall the scenery is still good.

From Jinyuan Bus Station near Luoyang Railway Station, the bus ticket to Dengfeng is 25 yuan, leaving at 5 pm, and the latest departure is 6 pm. It was 10 minutes late that day. I took the highway and arrived in Dengfeng at 7:15. I just got off at Yinghe Road and didn't have to go to the terminal bus station. I checked into the Thumb Hotel, which is now the Home Inn Huayi Hotel. Opposite the hotel is the Cultural City Food City. I solved the dinner problem at the Food City on the first floor. The next day, I made an appointment with Didi Express to the gate of Sanhuangzhai at 8 o'clock, and the fare was less than 30 yuan. The joint ticket for Songshan Shaolin Temple is 100 yuan. Once you enter the mountain gate, you will see the Hero Slope, which is a show of strength. In the middle, you will pass through Nantianmen, Sanhuang Temple, Songshan Zen Temple, plank road, suspension bridge, and all the way to Shaolin Cableway. The whole journey takes less than 3 hours. The cableway is 70 yuan one way, and you will get off at Shaolin Temple. It's all tour groups. There are too many people. There is a time for martial arts performances. There is one at 4 pm. I didn't catch it. It's a pity. At 1:30 pm, I took a bus to Zhengzhou at the parking lot. The fare was 28 yuan. It took nearly 2 hours to reach Zhengzhou Railway Station.

On August 11 and 12, 2018, my father and I climbed the Junji Peak of Taishi Mountain and the Sanhuangzhai of Shaoshi Mountain, completing the Zhongyue of the Five Sacred Mountains. The scenery along the way was beautiful. Although the process of climbing was very tiring, it was worth remembering. The scenery was very good.

I give it five stars, mainly because the scenery of Shaoshi Mountain Sanhuangzhai is so unique. Although I have seen photos online, I can only be more shocked when I see it with my own eyes. There are too many people in Shaolin Temple, and there is no atmosphere of ancient temple meditation at all (as expected). The scenery of Taishi Mountain is average.

Songshan is divided into two major scenic areas. One is Taishi Mountain of Songshan, which is what we call Zhongyue Songshan, and the other is Shaoshi Mountain, which is the Shaolin Temple-Sanhuangzhai scenic area. This relationship is a bit like Hengshan and Hengshan Hanging Temple, two ticketed scenic areas in one place.

The distribution of the scenic area is as shown in Figure 1. The circle on the left is the entrance to the Sanhuangzhai scenic spot in Shaoshan Mountain, and the circle in the middle is the main gate of Shaolin Temple. These two scenic spots are connected, and you can enter from Shaolin Temple and exit from Sanhuangzhai, and vice versa, without going back. The circle on the far right is the entrance to the Taishishan Scenic Area in Songshan Mountain. The general way of playing is to visit Shaolin Temple-Sanhuangzhai for one day, and Songshan Mountain for one day.

You can also drive into the parking lot opposite the main entrance of Songshan Scenic Area. Turn left after entering the gate and drive directly to Fawang Temple, then walk up the mountain. It takes about an hour to reach the top, which is the most energy-saving. Turn right after entering the gate to Songyang Academy, which also has a parking lot, and the dotted line next to it is the main hiking trail of Songshan. My choice is to visit Songyang Academy first, then go up the mountain from the hiking trail, and go down the mountain from Fawang Temple after reaching the top.

The tickets for Songshan and Songyang Academy are purchased separately. If you want to go to Songyang Academy, you need to buy a separate ticket~

There are ticket gates at Zhongyue Songshan. Some staff will check tickets at specific places along the way, so be sure to keep your ticket stubs.

When there was about a quarter of the way left, the main peak was already higher than the other peaks, and it felt like the sky was visible after the clouds had been cleared.

It took about two hours to reach the top! I met a local friend on the way and he reached the top in just one hour. The difference is too big.

To climb the Junji Peak of Taishi Mountain, we went up the mountain from the middle line. We went up the mountain from the ticket office at 9:40, passed many pavilions, palaces, halls, and temples, and reached the highest point, Junji Peak, at 1,492 meters, at around 13:00. There were some narrow, steep and long stairs along the way. When looking down from above, my legs felt weak and I felt like I was going to roll down. The scenery was beautiful, with mountains stacked up one after another, rolling and undulating, with gullies and valleys, which were a masterpiece of nature.

When going down the mountain, I was afraid of walking on those narrow, steep and long steps, so I chose to go down the line of the weather station, the line of the sky, and the Luya Waterfall. I never thought that this line was so long that I couldn’t see anyone for a long time. Moreover, many roads were mountain stone roads with big stones and several iron railings as handrails. I was a little worried and scared while walking. What if I sprained my ankle by accident?

Fortunately, when I passed the weather station (a little after 3 p.m.), I met a father and son who wanted to go up the mountain. After asking me, they estimated that they would not have enough time to return, so they decided not to go up the mountain and turned back. I followed them to the foot of the mountain. Climbing up and down, my feet and legs had already started to hurt, but I didn’t dare to stop, and kept walking and walking until I reached the foot of the mountain. It was almost 5 p.m. But it was still a bit far from the city, and there was no bus, so how could I go back? Fortunately, there was the kind father and son, plus my wife (mother) who was waiting at Luya Waterfall, and they took me back to the city when they went back. Thank you very much!!

Now let's talk about the public transportation in Dengfeng. The bus drivers in the city strictly abide by the rule that they are not allowed to talk to passengers. They don't say a word during the whole journey. If a foreigner like me wants to ask where to go, he won't answer, let alone pay attention to me. Even when I stop at a traffic light or ask for directions at a station, he won't pay attention to me, which is very speechless.

It was my first time in Zhengzhou. I went to Songshan Mountain in Dengfeng on the first day. It was really tiring. It was my first time climbing a mountain. I didn’t know how far the goal was and how many steps there were. I relied on my inner persistence. I really wanted to give up after climbing one-third of the way. There is no cable car going down the mountain at Junji Peak. I was a little hesitant just thinking about climbing to the top and then climbing down! But I really relied on my inner persistence. I continued to work hard even though I was sweating. I felt a great sense of accomplishment when I reached the top of the mountain. It was really worth the trip.

There is basically no service in Shaoshi Mountain. There is a small shop on the mountain, but the items are quite limited. The transportation to Sanhuangzhai Scenic Area is inconvenient, but other than that, it is full of surprises. Although the scenery is not comparable to that of other mountains, it is also beautiful, spectacular and amazing. In short, it is worth the trip.

When you climb to a high place and look far into the distance, you will be moved by the broad vision and the vast world.

From Mount Taishi, I can see a part of Mount Shaoshi from afar.

Each of the Five Sacred Mountains has its own characteristics. The layered texture of the rocks in Songshan Mountain is unique to other mountains and is particularly spectacular.

Mount Song, one of the Five Great Mountains, has beautiful scenery and is home to the famous Shaolin Temple.

Maybe it was because Shaolin Temple was always negatively promoted online, so I didn't have high expectations for Songshan. I came here just to complete my list - but the excellent weather on the day of the trip: blue sky and white clouds, cool breeze, few tourists and the particularly stunning Shaoshi Mountain exceeded my expectations. To be honest, I have visited various traditional famous mountains in China, and the scenery of Shaoshi Mountain is definitely first-class. Among the Five Sacred Mountains, the scenery is not inferior to Huashan, but it may be less fun than Huashan. I especially like the unique rock structure of the book shale. I can see with my own eyes that there are indeed spiritual auras of monks practicing here, which is much more exciting than what it looks in the photos. Moreover, Shaoshi Mountain is the least commercialized of the Five Sacred Mountains (not counting the Shaolin Temple at the foot of the mountain), which left me with a very good feeling. I think I will come again in the future!

The iconic attraction of Songshan Mountain is "Shuce Cliff". Songshan Mountain is a quartzite landform, and Shuce Cliff is the most typical manifestation of this landform. More and more tourists come here, because no matter coming from Shaolin Temple or Sanhuangzhai, this is a must-see attraction in Songshan Mountain. It is also the most beautiful, classic and spectacular attraction in Songshan Mountain, without a doubt!

The ticket costs 60 yuan, which is not expensive. It is very enjoyable to climb many straight stairs, the scenery is great, and the altitude is relatively high.

The suspended plank road is really deep, but because it is built very solidly, the feeling of "danger" is not as thrilling as the Huashan Sky Plank Road. In addition, there is only a guide in one direction. There is no sign of the plank road all the way from Sanhuangzhai, so I didn't feel that I was on the plank road, but just felt that I was between the steps in the mountain. In fact, when you see the stone with the words "Songshan", you are already in it~ At this time, I couldn't resist the temptation here, put on Tang Monk's clothes, and took a few more photos here, and even photoshopped it! Because I wanted to take photos, I stayed here for a while longer. I saw the cliff connected to the plank road, and people were walking in the air. Because the Songshan area has undergone many changes, the rock landforms are strange and varied. The rock wall is sometimes smooth and neat like a knife and an axe, sometimes uneven and jagged, and sometimes vertically arranged like bamboo shoots unearthed. There are green trees dotted between the cracks in the rocks, and the gray-white cliffs set off the green leaves, which looks particularly beautiful in the sun. The suspended plank road is like a giant dragon, winding up and down between several peaks, sometimes hidden in the depths of dense jungles, sometimes exposed on cliffs, and sometimes passing through narrow cracks in rocks. Suddenly, the rocks protrude, and visitors have to bow their heads to pass; suddenly, the space is narrow, and visitors have to bend forward. The Liantian Suspension Bridge is built between two peaks, close to the cliffs and facing the deep ravine. Walking up, it is swaying, and looking down, it is bottomless, and you can only feel your legs shaking, which is creepy. The mountains on both sides of the Liantian Grand Canyon are high and the valleys are deep, with clouds and mists lingering in the mountains and lush forests. At the end of the valley, in the col, two peaks rise abruptly, as sharp as cold jade, like a tall and short father and son overlooking the deep ravine. Another peak stands out alone, towering into the clouds, dangerous, strange, majestic and beautiful, it is the Liantian Peak. Suddenly looking up, a huge rock flew from nowhere and built on the plank road.

Songshan gives me a feeling of wildness, ruggedness, height and might. My favorite is the Songshan stalagmites and the scenery from Sanhuangzhai to the suspension bridge. The mountain is majestic and I feel so small when walking in the mountain. The Songshan stalagmites are very spectacular and unique. The mountain is like a book with sheet-like structure.

It is strongly recommended to start climbing Songshan from the entrance of Sanhuangzhai and visit Shaolin Temple at the end. The reasons are as follows: the beautiful scenery of Songshan is concentrated from Sanhuangzhai to Songshan stalagmites. If you start climbing Songshan from Shaolin Temple, there is no scenery in the front part; Sanhuangzhai is not convenient for taking a car as the exit, and there is a bus outside Shaolin Temple as the exit. And you can take a Didi taxi from Dengfeng Bus Station to Sanhuangzhai, which costs more than 30 yuan and takes half an hour; many people start climbing from Shaolin Temple, but they often have no energy before they can reach Sanhuangzhai and have to return the same way, resulting in the inability to see the truly beautiful scenery. So this trip we started climbing the mountain from Sanhuangzhai, passing Sanhuangzhai, suspension bridge, stalagmites to the cableway, and taking the cableway down is the Pagoda Forest and Shaolin Temple. First, we can see Shaoshi Mountain completely, and second, there is a reason to take the cableway for the last third, because there is no scenery on that journey and it also saves physical strength and time. This trip still feels good, although climbing Songshan is really too tiring with too many steps.

Songshan was the place where I learned literature and martial arts when I was young.

Revisiting after ten years

I have been to all the Five Sacred Mountains. I went to Zhongyue Songshan in the winter of 2014 and was really shocked by its grandeur. Among the Five Sacred Mountains, Songshan is the most recommended after Huashan.

Songshan is the middle mountain of the Five Sacred Mountains, which are divided into Taishi Mountain and Shaoshi Mountain. The highest peaks are all about 1,500 meters above sea level. At present, Songshan is the most primitive mountain for mountaineering. After all, the other mountains are either not high in altitude, or can be reached directly to the top of the mountain by cable car or car. Only the scenic spots of Songshan are at the foot of Songshan. The top of the mountain is just a totem without any buildings. Therefore, mountaineering is more of a tempering of the mind. Junji Peak on the top of Shaoshi Mountain was the place for offering sacrifices to heaven during the Tang and Song dynasties. Standing on the top of the mountain, you can see all the other mountains.

Songshan left me with wonderful memories, it is worth a visit. The people in Dengfeng are also very nice and down-to-earth. It is better to go up from the back mountain, the scenery of the back mountain is also great\(≧▽≦)/.

The ticket price is 100 yuan, including Zhongyue and Shaolin Temple scenic areas, excluding the cable car fee. As soon as you enter the south gate of Sanhuangzhai, you will start climbing. Hundreds of steps stand majestically in front of you. The steps are extremely steep and the steps are also rugged. You can't see the end as far as you can see, which is quite a test of your physical strength. However, the most beautiful scenery is always after hard work. Only after experiencing the hardships of the process can you experience the beautiful ending.

In March, the Songshan Scenic Area is crowded with tourists, ushering in the peak of study tours. As a sacred mountain of Central Plains culture, Songshan has 8,000 years of cultural heritage, where "one day, one place, one literature, one martial arts" gather, attracting tourists from all over the world to climb mountains and go hiking.



Amid the alternating cold and warmth in late winter and early spring, Zhongyue welcomes the sight of spring returning to the earth, with gentle breezes and smiling spring mountains.

When we went there, there was heavy snow and strong winds at Songshan Mountain. The weather was extremely bad and there were few people climbing the mountain. The strong winds at the top of the mountain turned the snow into ice, which hung on the trees and was particularly beautiful. Songshan Mountain is the highest mountain, reaching the sky!

Although it is very tiring, it is worth seeing the beautiful scenery.

The scenery is beautiful, the mountains are majestic, and the various peaks are of different shapes and styles, which are worth careful appreciation.

Zhongyue Songshan, one of the Three Mountains and Five Peaks in China, is well-known all over the world. Songshan Shaolin is even more famous, and everyone in the world knows it. Songshan has a total area of about 450 square kilometers, consisting of Taishi Mountain and Shaoshi Mountain, with a total of 72 peaks, with the lowest altitude of 350 meters and the highest point of 1512 meters. The main peak, Junji Peak, is located in Taishi Mountain, with a height of 1491.7 meters; the highest peak, Liantian Peak, is located in Shaoshi Mountain, with a height of 1512 meters. Songshan overlooks the Yellow River and Luoshui in the north, Yingshui River and Jishan in the south, Zhengbian in the east, and Luoyang, the ancient capital of 13 dynasties in the west. It is an important barrier to the east of the ancient capital Luoyang. It has always been the capital area with a profound cultural heritage. It is the birthplace of Chinese Buddhist Zen and a Taoist holy place. The "Book of Songs" has a famous sentence "Songshan is high and steep, and it is as steep as the sky". With its strange and steep peaks and numerous palaces and temples, it is the first famous mountain in the Central Plains. Songshan is also the source of the Three Religions (Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism), and has played a great role in the formation and spread of the Three Religions. Songshan is the most perfect place to embody the unity of the Three Religions. The ticket price is 100 yuan. Famous attractions include Songyue Temple Pagoda, Shaoshi Mountain, Taishi Mountain, Liantian Peak, etc. The best tourist season is from March to May and September to November. The tour lasts about 2 days.

I have always loved climbing mountains. Even if I take a cable car, I like the feeling of being at the top of the mountain. This year, it was the off-season but there were still a lot of people. Don't forget to visit Shaolin Temple when you come to Songshan.

The most important thing is that Shaoshi Mountain has allusions and stories! Legend has it that when Dayu was controlling the flood, Shaoshi and Taishi were the two wives of King Yu! 😁😁😁😁 I have to say that the title should not be written as the holy land of Quanzhen Sect! In fact, it is not certain whether Quanzhen Sect has any history, it comes from Jin Yong's novels! Through archaeology, there are only five or six sects in ancient China that can be completely confirmed

The most famous place in Songshan is of course Shaolin Temple, which is famous both at home and abroad.

Taishi Mountain is Songshan Mountain, and Shaoshi Mountain is Shaolin Temple. Songshan Mountain is also a place where you can "see the world from a distance". Standing at the foot of the mountain, Songshan County looks up at the main peak of Songshan Mountain, and you can immediately feel the huge drop in height. Unfortunately, there are fewer historical and cultural relics on the top of the mountain, and they are a bit deserted, and they are basically scattered at the foot of the mountain.

1. Transportation: Self-driving is the most convenient, and the road conditions are no problem at all. It is not recommended to join a tour group, because the tour group spends too little time in Shaoshi Mountain. I took a bus from Zhengzhou to Dengfeng Station, and then took a taxi to the scenic area, entering from Sanhuangzhai and exiting from Shaolin Temple. The latest bus from Dengfeng to Zhengzhou is around 7 o'clock.

2. Visiting time: One-day tour is enough. Songshan belongs to the Funiu Mountain system, which consists of Taishi Mountain and Shaoshi Mountain. The highest peak is Shaoshi Mountain Liantian Peak, 1,512 meters. For the first time to Songshan, it is recommended to take the Shaoshi Mountain (Sanhuangzhai-Shaolin Temple) route. The ticket for Shaolin Temple includes Sanhuangzhai, but does not include the cable car. I went up the mountain from Sanhuangzhai at 13:30, walked to the cable car at 16:00, arrived at Shaolin Temple at 16:30, watched the last show at 17:00, left the scenic area at 17:30, took a taxi back to Dengfeng Terminal, and caught the 18:30 bus to Zhengzhou.

3. Tour route: Why enter from Sanhuangzhai? There are no buses at the entrance of Sanhuangzhai, and taxis are rarely seen. It is inconvenient to go back to Dengfeng. If you don't want to go back, it is recommended to enter Sanhuangzhai and exit from Shaolin. Moreover, it takes 3 hours to walk to Sanhuangzhai, which consumes physical strength. You should climb when you are full of energy, so it is better to enter from Sanhuangzhai. Another advantage is that you don't have to spend too much time in Shaolin Temple. Taking the cable car from Shaolin Temple is much more crowded.

4. Scenery: Taishi Mountain is not as good as Shaoshi Mountain. The essence of Shaoshi Mountain is in Sanhuangzhai. Sanhuangzhai has three scenery: the magnificent red leaves of Songshan Mountain, the majestic mountains, and the magnificent atmosphere overlooking the Central Plains.

Songshan has nice natural scenery, Shaoshishan is worth a visit, especially the Sanhuangzhai line, and Taishishan also has nice scenery, but the road signs are not perfect.

Must recommend, worth watching, regret not watching, beyond expectations

The fourth stop of the Five Mountains Tour. I am used to night climbing. The sun was very strong that day. It was very uncomfortable to climb. I almost got lost when going downhill\(^o^)/

Maybe because I have never climbed Mount Hua, I feel that Mount Song is still very unique and steep. I almost couldn’t get back after climbing the whole way. . .

For the Shaolin Temple scenic area, I really recommend the scenery of Sanhuangzhai. If you are physically fit, you can choose to go up the mountain from Sanhuangzhai. There are many steep steps. If you go from Shaolin Temple, it is recommended to go down to the suspension bridge and return.

The scenery of Zhongyue Songshan is really nice. Personally, I feel that the scenery is higher than Mount Tai, Hengshan and second only to Mount Huashan.

The service in the scenic area is quite bad. The road signs and official scenic area map from Junji Peak to Fawang Temple and Luya Waterfall in Taishi Mountain are a mess, which caused me to take a lot of detours.

It was great. I went there in July this year. It is one of the quieter and more stable mountains among the Five Great Mountains. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry and didn't get to visit Shaolin Temple. I will definitely go there again if I have another chance.

The round trip by cable car is 50 yuan. The cable car ride is quite long, and you can take the cable car to see the scenery of Songshan.

Songshan, formerly known as "Waifang", was called "Chonggao" and "Chongshan" in the Xia and Shang dynasties, and was called "Yueshan" in the Western Zhou dynasty. With Songshan as the center, Taishan on the left and Huashan on the right, Songshan was designated as Zhongyue, and was named "Zhongyue Songshan". Songshan is located in the western part of Henan Province, northwest of Dengfeng City, adjacent to the ancient capital Luoyang in the west and Zhengzhou in the east, and belongs to the Funiu Mountain system.

I went up the mountain to take pictures of the sunset. I set out from Songyang Academy at 3:30 and reached the top of the mountain, Junji Peak, at about 6:30. I was very tired and drank a lot of water.

It is recommended that if you are not in good physical condition, drive to the parking lot, which is near the ticket office, so that you can save some energy.

Ticket sales stop at 5pm and there is no mountain closure time.

There are quite a lot of scenic spots along the way. Because I had a mission, I only went to Laomu Palace, Junji Palace, and Nuwa Palace along the way. They have their own characteristics, but they are not particularly special.



The view is best at Junji Peak, and it really gives you a transcendental feeling.

Songshan Mountain is not very pleasant to visit in winter, but it is good to climb and exercise. I went there late, and it was almost dark, so I didn't reach the top. I was a little scared to take the cable car, which is not fully enclosed, and it was scary. But the mountain scenery is beautiful after the snow.

Zhongyue Songshan consists of Taishi Mountain and Shaoshi Mountain. The main peak, Junji Peak, is located in Taishi Mountain. It is taken from the "Book of Songs" "Songgaoweiyue, Junjiyutian" in the "Book of Songs". Wu Zetian once performed Fengshan here. Shaolin Temple is located in Shaoshi Mountain. The natural landscape of Shaoshi Mountain Sanhuangzhai is unique and worth seeing. There is a cableway to go up and down. Taishi Mountain has scattered scenic spots, and the scenery is inferior to Sanhuangzhai. There is no cableway, so you can only walk. If you are short of time, I personally think you can give up Taishi Mountain.

Songshan actually consists of two mountains, namely Taishi Mountain and Shaoshi Mountain, and the two mountains are quite far apart.

Mount Shaoshi is located more than ten kilometers west of Dengfeng City. The mountain where the Shaolin Temple is located is Mount Shaoshi. The Sanhuangzhai Scenic Area on the mountain also belongs to the Shaolin Temple Scenic Area.



Taishi Mountain is located in the north of Dengfeng City. There is a Songyang Academy there, and the mountain behind it is Taishi Mountain. Its highest peak is called Junji Peak, which is also the highest point of Songshan Mountain. Taishi Mountain and Shaoshi Mountain are different scenic spots, and tickets must be purchased separately.



Taishi Mountain is higher than Shaoshi Mountain, and the scenery of Shaoshi Mountain may be better. If time is limited, it is better to go to Shaoshi Mountain (i.e. Shaolin Temple Scenic Area).

The day before, we went to Junji Peak of Taishi Mountain, and the next day we rushed to Sanhuangzhai and Shaolin Temple.

My friends in the Youth Hostel got up early and headed for Luoyang. I packed up and prepared to go to Sanhuangzhai. The hostel lady told me that someone was also going to Shaoshi Mountain and asked if we could charter a car together. But I found out that the guy was in a hurry and only went to Shaolin Temple. So in the end, I called Didi by myself and drove to the entrance of Sanhuangzhai for 30 or 40 yuan. Anyway, I added 10 yuan to the meter because I might have no time to drive back.

The ticket price for Shaolin Temple is 100 yuan, and the half price is 50 yuan, which includes Sanhuangzhai and Shaolin Temple. I think it is a waste to only visit one temple (although it is a very famous temple) with such expensive ticket money. If you have time and energy, you must visit Sanhuangzhai. I personally think that there are several really good views in Sanhuangzhai.

I arrived at the entrance of Sanhuangzhai at about 9 o'clock. There were already many people going up the mountain. As soon as I entered the gate, there was a path of stairs, which was really a show of strength. But generally speaking, Sanhuangzhai is easier to climb than Junji Peak. Some sections are more difficult, but there are only about ten steps. There were also many grandpas and aunts climbing. On the way, I came across a beautiful building complex. I guess it might be Taoist_(:3 」∠ )_. . . There were several groups of people who passed me on the road, and I caught up with them. When we met, we would say hello and encourage each other~

At about 12 noon, you can reach the boundary ridge between Sanhuangzhai and Shaolin Temple, which is basically the top of the mountain. There is a cable car that goes directly down to Shaolin Temple. Many people take the cable car to see the suspension bridge and then take the cable car back to Shaolin Temple. Well, in fact, the suspension bridge is probably only 20 meters. I think it is meaningless and expensive_(:3 」∠ )_. It is more interesting to climb it (゜▼゜＊）～

It lives up to the name of Zhongyue. We went to the Shaoshishan Scenic Area. It takes two or three hours to walk up by cable car. The scenery is very nice and steep. Because it snowed the day before we went there, the steps were icy and very slippery. Many people fell, so we only walked to the suspension bridge and then came back. We did not go to Sanhuangzhai, which was a pity.

Mount Song is divided into Mount Taishi and Mount Shaoshi.

The Songshan Mountain mentioned by the locals is Taishi Mountain. The line of Songyang Academy - Junji Peak - Luya Waterfall.

We didn't plan well, so we took the cable car up and then took the cable car down the same way not long after walking, because the cable car was about to open...

We couldn't finish the Songshan Mountain, which was a bit regrettable.

Weekend hiking is OK. The biggest feature is that it has no special features.

We didn't take the cable car when we went up, we just walked. The scenery was okay, but it was so hot in August that my short sleeves were wet all the time. If you choose to walk up, I suggest you bring more water, because water is only sold at the end of the cable car. It took us more than an hour to walk from Sanhuangzhai to the end of the cable car. It was tiring.

You can hike up the mountain from Laomu Cave at 1 a.m. to watch the sunrise at 4:30 a.m. You should bring energy drinks and food when hiking at night. The mountain road is not easy to climb at night, so you should go up early. The morning sun will not disappoint you.

Be sure to choose the weather in advance. It is not suitable to go there before or after rain or snow, and it is dangerous. Go to Sanhuangzhai first, and then go to other attractions in Changsheng Hospital. Prepare some food and it will take at least 3 hours.

We climbed up the mountain from the Sanhuangzhai scenic area. The long stairs at the beginning really gave us a warning. There were many steps in the first half, and it was still very tiring to climb. In addition, it was very windy and the temperature was very low that day, so I was shivering a little. It was almost noon and we were close to the top of the mountain. The sun was overhead, and looking at the mountainside path in the distance, the overall scenery was indeed very beautiful.

Songshan is located in Dengfeng, Henan. This year, the road is under construction. Friends who want to go there must choose to stay at the foot of the mountain. The scenery of Songshan is average, so it is not appropriate to go there once.
