Enshi Grand Canyon

We went to the Grand Canyon on May 3rd. To avoid traffic jams, the tour guide asked us to leave from Daughter City at 5:30. As a result, we were told that we had to queue for three hours at the cable car station. The queue at the ticket office to take the scenic shuttle bus was completely out of control. I was worried about a stampede. The scenery was beautiful, but the management of the scenic area was chaotic. It was completely unable to cope with the large passenger flow during holidays.

I went there during the May Day holiday. There was already a long queue at the ticket window at 7am. Fortunately, I booked the tickets online one day in advance and could pick up the tickets by myself. However, I still had to queue for a while. I went to Qixingyan first to take the cable car. There was no one there, which was very pleasant. There were already quite a lot of people on the mountain. The cliff plank road was not open for an incense stick, so I couldn't go in to enjoy the view. It was a pity. I finished the whole thing at 11 o'clock. I was scared by the physical test strategy on the Internet. In fact, it was okay to change to the scenic shuttle bus. On the way back, I saw a long queue at the entrance of the mountain cable car. There were a lot of people. I queued for more than 40 minutes before I could get in. The exit was steep and narrow. I waited for a long time before I could get out. It was 14 o'clock. I guess when there are fewer people, more than an hour with photos is enough. In short, Enshi Grand Canyon is very average. If you have been to Zhangjiajie and Huangguoshu, then this place is just for checking in because of its fame.

Enshi Grand Canyon is divided into two scenic areas: up the mountain - Qixingzhai lower valley - Yunlong ground crack. The transportation system of the scenic area is quite good and convenient. There were a lot of people when I went there on May Day. Only the transportation system ran smoothly. The scenery is not at all the canyon scenery I imagined. Qixingzhai - it's just a cable car. After going up and down the mountain road for four hours, you can only see three or four stone mountains. It's better to go to Zhangjiajie than to see this. Yunlong ground crack - it's just a huge pit. It's not at the same level as Wulong ground crack. It has no characteristics and is just for numbers. I made a special trip to visit the scenic area on May Day. The management is chaotic and the price is expensive. It has no characteristics. I deeply doubt the advertising slogan that it is comparable to the Grand Canyon of Colorado.

The beauty lies in the fact that the scenery covered with rain and fog has a unique flavor, and combined with the beautiful and quiet mountains, it is full of fairy spirit.

The disadvantage is that climbing in the rain is even more tiring, and in the fog, many beautiful sights cannot be seen, and only some vague outlines can be recognized.

I basically walked the whole way, without taking the cable car or elevator. I took about 20,000 steps, without a long rest in the middle, and basically kept moving. I entered the scenic area at 10 am and left the scenic area at around 3:30 pm.

Practical Tips:

1. Depart from Enshi Bus Station. The whole journey takes about 2 hours and the ticket price is 25 yuan. There are quite a lot of buses and they basically leave when they are full.

2. Tickets are divided into two major scenic spots, Qixingzhai and Difeng, 110 and 40 yuan respectively, and the scenic spot commuter bus must be purchased for 30 yuan. If you need a cable car and elevator, you will have to pay extra.

3. The cableway for going up is 105, and the cableway for going down is 100. I personally think that if you have enough physical strength, you don’t need to buy it. If you choose to walk, the scenic area car will drive up a distance and take you to the walking entrance. According to my own time calculation, it takes about half an hour to climb to the end of the cableway. Of course, there are continuous steps when going up the mountain, which does require a certain amount of physical strength.

4. The downward elevator is near the descent point and costs 30 yuan. You need to pay extra because many people are very tired by the time they get here, and going down the mountain is very tiring for the knees. If your physical strength does not allow it, you can choose to go up the elevator, which is still a certain distance away.

5. The peak of the flow of people in Difeng is concentrated between 10 and 12 o'clock. There are many tour groups at this stage, and there are a lot of people queuing at the entrance. In addition, the road inside is narrow and the traffic speed is slow. If you are traveling by yourself, you can also choose to go to Qixingzhai first and then come to Difeng in the afternoon to avoid peak hours.

Enshi Grand Canyon is a karst landform, which is a relatively unique scenic spot. Generally, it takes a day to spend in the mountains. Our schedule for Qingming Festival is as follows:

1. Arrive at the Grand Canyon one day in advance to stay in the farmhouses and villas opened by residents. The price is about 150 yuan;

2. I set off at 10am the next day, lined up at the gate to check my ticket, and first went to the Grand Canyon to play for about 40 minutes;

3. Go back to the ticket gate and take a bus or cable car up the mountain, then climb for a few hours...

Note:

1. If the climbing time is long and the slope is steep, you can buy a hand stick, which costs about 2 to 10 yuan;

2. Don’t bring too much stuff, there are small shops selling food along the way;

3. There is basically nothing special to buy in the scenic area, except for the special food;

4. Remember to relax your legs after climbing the mountain. My legs hurt for several days after I came back.

Finally, the scenery along the way to the Grand Canyon is beautiful, the rape flowers are in full bloom, and the scenery is beautiful! The tea in Mazhe Village is also good, you can go and experience it!

We set out from Enshi city at 8:30 in the morning, passed National Highway 318, and arrived at the scenic spot at around 10 o'clock.

The scenic area is divided into two, one is Qixingzhai and the other is Yunlong Difeng. The regular way to play with the ticket is more than 200 yuan (I can't remember the exact price). The regular route is generally to take a bus from the ticket office to the cable car station, walk to Yunlong Difeng, then walk back to the cable car station, take the cable car to Qixingzhai, walk down, and take the bus back to the ticket office.

Yunlong Difeng is a river in the canyon with several waterfalls next to it. When I went there, it was still called Yunlong Difeng Phase 1. Many things had not been repaired or developed, so there was basically nothing to play with...

Qixingzhai is the most famous scenic spot. I was very disappointed when I went up there because there was a lot of fog. After going up, I just walked along the trail. The main things you can see are the strange-shaped rocks and mountains. The overall feeling is great and shocking. There are big differences in height in some places. My dad who is afraid of heights didn’t even dare to walk to the guardrail to see it. Hahaha.

It takes about 3 o'clock to walk back. If you don't want to walk down the mountain, you can pay to take the escalator, 30 yuan per person

There is an affordable supermarket at the transfer point with reasonable prices, such as 2 yuan per bottle of mineral water. I feel that Enshi is more standardized than Shennongjia, and it is recommended. It takes 4-6 hours to visit Qixingzhai, so there are small shops and stalls selling food in the scenic area. The price is not high, and tourists do not need to bring their own.

It is definitely the most famous scenic spot in Enshi. It is known as the Colorado Canyon of the East. The limestone landforms form strange peaks and rocks. It takes more than two hours to get to Enshi City. The scenic area includes the Qixingzhai Scenic Area on the mountain and the Yunlong Difeng Scenic Area at the foot of the mountain. In fact, I think the scenery on the way to Enshi Grand Canyon is more magnificent, with high mountains and deep valleys, and the clouds and mist in the deep valleys are amazing. I have always wanted to see the snow scene of Enshi Grand Canyon. A few days ago, I finally looked forward to the first snow in Enshi, and immediately decided to take a short trip. Going to the Grand Canyon is to take a bus at the passenger transport center next to Enshi Railway Station. Some time ago, the road from Enshi City to the Grand Canyon was closed due to landslides. We can only take a detour from Lichuan, which takes two and a half hours. The ticket is five yuan more than before, 30 yuan per person. It is estimated that it will take several months to repair the road. Enshi Grand Canyon is suitable for staying one night in advance and starting to play early the next morning. There is more time. Depending on the weather conditions, we will play Yunlong Difeng or Qixingzhai first. Now is the off-season ticket price. The package was booked online the day before, 225 yuan, 20 yuan cheaper than the window. When we went to the tourist center to pick up the ticket, Qixingzhai was still foggy and we couldn’t see anything, so we went to the ground crack first. It was a little regretful that there was no sunshine, but we will come again in the future. This time it was great to see the snow and frost in Qixingzhai. There were few people in the off-season, so the two of us contracted a cable car. Because it was cloudy, we didn't think it was very good when we first got on the cable car. There was still a little drizzle on the cable car window that blocked our view. The higher we went, the more beautiful it was. We were amazed by the frost and couldn't stop. Every shot was so beautiful. There were not many people along the way, so we took whatever we wanted. The staff sprinkled salt along the road to melt the ice, and the road was not slippery and easy to walk. Although the fog came up again when we arrived at several major attractions due to the rising temperature, Yizhuxiang, Twin Towers, Yunv Peak, Yubi Peak, Yuping Peak, etc. were all vaguely visible, but this trip was already very worthwhile! Next time, I must choose a good weather to see different scenery!

The canyon is 108 kilometers long, with steep cliffs and peaks, and is majestic. In the Enshi Grand Canyon, there is a 150-meter-high stone pillar that rises from the ground and stands tall, like a pillar in the valley.

Taking physical strength into consideration, we only chose Qixingzhai, bought all available transportation tickets (ground cable car - ropeway up - escalator down - scenic bus), and took knee pads and trekking poles.

The knee pads seem to be useful. After a day like this, except for the unbearable queues for the cable car and the "traffic jams" when climbing the mountain, the whole experience was okay and my legs were not so sore the next day.

The Enshi Grand Canyon Scenic Area is located in Tunbu Township and Banqiao Town, Enshi City, Hubei Province. It is located at the junction of Hunan, Chongqing and Hubei provinces. Enshi Grand Canyon currently has two mature scenic spots, namely Qixingzhai and Yunlong Ground Crack Scenic Spot. There are two routes to visit the scenic spot, Line A and Line B. We chose Line A, with a package ticket of 277 yuan per ticket, including ground cable car, mountain cable car, downhill escalator, scenic spot transfer bus and Yunlong Ground Crack Elevator. The total area of the scenic spot is 23.9 square kilometers. Although the scenic spot covers a large area, the tour route is quite simple, almost a straight line to the end, and it takes a bit of talent to get lost.

Enshi Grand Canyon belongs to the first section of Qingjiang Grand Canyon. The canyon is 108 kilometers long and covers an area of 300 square kilometers. It is a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction. The main scenic spots of the Grand Canyon are concentrated in the front mountain and the back mountain. The front mountain is the Triassic stratum formed 210-250 million years ago, so it is magnificent and angular; the back mountain is the Permian stratum formed 250-290 million years ago, with beautiful scenery and rounded shapes. The Grand Canyon is praised by experts as comparable to the Colorado Grand Canyon in the United States.

Currently, the Grand Canyon Scenic Area offers tourists two parts to visit, namely the Qixingzhai Scenic Area on the mountain and the Yunlong Ground Crack Scenic Area at the foot of the mountain.

The Enshi Grand Canyon Scenic Area is divided into two parts: Qixingzhai and Yunlong Difeng. The former is in the sky, and the latter is in the ground. If Yunlong Difeng is a palace hidden underground, then Qixingzhai is a stone castle in the clouds.

Qixingzhai is not a village, but a world of dense stone forests and strange peaks. It is 1500-1900 meters above sea level and is made up of about 4-5 continuous mountains. Looking around, there are dozens of limestone peaks and pillars, rugged and tall, densely distributed, forming a vast stone pillar-like peak forest.

The Cliff Corridor, also known as the "Cliff Plank Road", was built in October 2007. It is 488 meters long and has 118 steps. When you walk along the plank road, you can enjoy the scenery of Dawuling. The plank road has seven bends and eight turns, which means: the road is seven bends and eight turns, but the heart remains the same.

Huangshan’s “Welcoming Pine” is very famous, implying “open arms and smile to welcome tourists from all over the world”. The Welcoming Pine in Enshi Grand Canyon represents the hospitality of the Tujia and Miao ethnic groups, and conveys a welcome to friends from afar.

This is the legendary "treasure of the valley" in Qixingzhai: Yizhuxiang. It is more than 150 meters high, with a diameter of 6 meters at the bottom and only 4 meters at the smallest. It cannot be blown down by wind or rain, and has stood proudly among the peaks for thousands of years, guarding this mysterious land. From a distance, it looks like a stick of incense standing among the peaks and reaching into the sky, which can be called a world wonder. In 2013, CNN in the United States rated "Yizhuxiang" as one of the 40 most beautiful scenic spots in China.

There is a local legend about the origin of the incense stick: It is said that this stone pillar is a stick of incense given to the local people by the gods. When the people encounter a disaster, they can light the stick of incense, and the gods will come down to save the people when they see the little smoke. Nowadays, the local Tujia people still have the activity of burning incense and making wishes. This stick of incense protects the people and nurtures the land in the vast universe.

This section is a canyon mountain road. The peaks here are steep and high, with a majestic aura of howling to the sky and a soul-stirring valley wind.

Twin Peaks: This is a pair of symmetrical rock pillars, resembling a pair of twin sisters, which is very rare. At an altitude of 1,700 meters, American explorer Dean Porter challenged the high altitude unprotected soft rope walking between the twin peaks of Enshi Grand Canyon, and named them "Dean Porter" Twin Peaks on April 22, 2012.

The Enshi Grand Canyon is actually not very high, but because you have to climb over four mountains, all of which are almost vertical, it is very demanding on your physical strength and leg skills. You have to walk all the way to the end without turning back.

The descent of the Enshi Grand Canyon is cleverly designed. In addition to the traditional trails, it is built against the mountain and has a specially built gate tower escalator. The escalator is divided into several sections with a total length of 688 meters. The top is covered with Tujia-style green tiles, and a large number of climbing plants are planted around it, blending in with the magnificent natural landscape of the Enshi Grand Canyon, like a long dragon winding down.

Initially, all my yearning for Enshi came from the Enshi Grand Canyon. The weather was bad when we visited, so we didn’t fully appreciate the beauty of the Grand Canyon, but we had no regrets because we could imagine its beauty.

In general, karst landforms have cliffs but no peaks, or peaks but no cliffs. However, the Enshi Grand Canyon has both. It is large in area and has very high cliffs. The cliffs on all sides plus the rift valleys make it the most peculiar karst landform.

Enshi Grand Canyon is generally very good, after all, it is a 5A scenic spot. But if you have been to Zhangjiajie, there is no need to come here. One of the attractions here is called Yizhuxiang, and Zhangjiajie is the incense factory. 😜😜😜, the whole loop is not bad, but after this circle, my legs are really tired and shaking.

After visiting Jianshi Earth Core Valley, on the way to Lichuan Qingjiang Ancient Riverbed, we did not take the highway, but chose to take National Highway 318. After passing Enshi, we headed towards Enshi Grand Canyon at the 005 County Road fork intersection of National Highway 318. The scenery here is much more beautiful than continuing on National Highway 318, and the mileage is about the same, so there is no detour. When approaching Enshi Grand Canyon, the scenery became more and more beautiful. We stopped many times to take pictures along the way. Although we did not enter the Enshi Grand Canyon Scenic Area, we also felt its magnificence.

Enshi Grand Canyon is worthy of its 5A title in terms of scenery alone. But, the premise is that you can tolerate the queuing up and down the mountain and the cramming of check-in and photo taking...

The crowds were as dense as the subway during rush hour. They could neither get on nor get off, and could only wait where they were. (╬￣皿￣)

A stick of incense

I stood on tiptoe, queued, and waited for at least ten minutes, only to get a stick of incense with no one around.

As a popular check-in spot, there are men and women holding selfie sticks everywhere, watching Douyin and having fun, which is much more "beautiful" than the incense stick itself.

We bought a combined ticket for the Grand Canyon and the Ground Crack, but I personally feel that the Ground Crack has more attractions. There is no scenery in the early stage of the canyon, and the peaks and ridges stand out in the later stage, but the scenery is not as good as Huangshan, just average. However, during this trip to Enshi, I found that the local government of Enshi has done a good job in organizing tourism. The prices of any scenic spot are much cheaper than other places in the country. Even on the mountain, there is no sky-high price, which is not much more expensive than at the foot of the mountain. You can buy it on the mountain, which is good quality and cheap.

I have been to the Grand Canyon many times. When I was younger, I went to the Qixingzhai which was under development with my father. I had different feelings every time I went there. Every time I made some new discoveries. Sometimes I felt that there were many rare treasures here, and sometimes I was saddened by the scene. I am a sentimental and melancholy person. Even when I went with my parents, I didn't say much. It seemed like my maze and treasure. Many of my emotions and expectations were left in the clouds.

Although Enshi Grand Canyon is not as experienced as Jiuzhaigou, Emei Mountain and other scenic spots, it gives people a very comfortable feeling. It allows you to enjoy life while experiencing the coolness. It is very good and I will go there again when I pass by the surrounding area in the future.

The only interesting attraction in Enshi is that it is really tiring. It takes about one and a half to two hours to get to the tourist center from the city by car. There is a shuttle bus. First visit the ground crack, take the cable car up the mountain at 12:30, and return to the tourist center at about 3 o'clock. It is a one-way tour. The downhill road is quite steep, but there is an escalator for the last 800 meters, and the ticket is 30 yuan.

Enshi Grand Canyon Scenic Area is located in Enshi City, Hubei Province. It rained a little on the day of the tour, and the Enshi Grand Canyon was shrouded in clouds and mist, which was unique. Breathing the fresh air, admiring the green plants and strange rocks all over the mountain, tasting Enshi potatoes, corn and other special snacks, and visiting the original ecological attractions such as Qixingzhai, Yizhuxiang and Yunlong Ground Crack in the scenic area, Enshi Grand Canyon is worthy of being called a "natural oxygen bar".

Don't do it for real!!! 1. The scenery is not good, it's just an ordinary mountain, the crack in the ground is not deep enough, it's just a ditch, the so-called Qixingzhai is nothing to see, there is only one stick of incense along the way that makes me feel a little special. Climbing the whole way, there is no scenery that I want to stop to see. 2. Tired, especially going down the mountain, I think the design is very unreasonable, all continuous downhill, walking until my legs are broken. The place where the escalator goes down the mountain, you could have gone straight through, but in order to let everyone take the elevator, it was directly blocked. If you don't take it, you have to take a long detour, and we took a detour. 3. Expensive, the ticket is 180, the cable car is 105 for a one-way trip, and it's 30 to take the escalator down. The mountains I have climbed in 20 years have never been so expensive. 385 for two broken legs, I can't even pick out two photos, it's no different from other mountains.

Before departure, I read a lot of reviews of the Grand Canyon attractions, which were mixed, but considering the publicity and the beautiful scenery seen in the photos, it felt that it was still worth visiting, so my wife and I chose it without hesitation. Because I went hiking in Luyuanping the day before, I troubled the driver to send me directly to the hotel next to the Canyon Visitor Service Center on the way back. After breakfast at the hotel in the morning, I went to the visitor center to pick up tickets and enter the scenic area. We chose the conventional route to go to the ground crack first, and then took the cable car to Qixingzhai after the tour. The time for playing in the ground crack is not very long. It can be finished in about 1 hour. The focus is still on Qixingzhai. Because it rained that day, the whole valley was surrounded by clouds and mist. Climbing to the top of the mountain was like a fairyland. The clouds and mist flowed very quickly. From a distance, it looked like a changing ink painting, which was beautiful. Next, I want to complain. The hardware of the entire scenic area is well developed, with clear signs throughout the whole process and many toilets. However, several of the most essential spots in Qixingzhai are all closed, and there are only broken signs saying that they are under maintenance. I am really impressed. There are no instructions for entering the scenic area, and no time markings. I can only say that the operator of the scenic area is really bad. It is understandable that it is closed for further development or maintenance, or for safety reasons. Tourists should at least have the right to know. Regarding the ticket price, any 5A in China knows it, so I will not elaborate.

For such an expensive ticket in a canyon-type scenic area, doesn’t the government know how to repair the road? And the elevator up the ground crack, can’t it be repaired? Let everyone have multiple choices! The whole ground crack, you can’t take pictures at all, people are crowded and people are next to each other. It’s like a chicken on a production line, without any autonomy, and can only move forward numbly. In short, it’s bad! Bad! Bad!

Suggestions for traveling during National Day!

1. Don't take the cable car. You have to wait in line for more than 4 hours.

2. Go out early and go early. Or go at noon. When I left at 2 pm, the ground was very empty.

There was no one at the cable car. We saw the long queue of ten turns and laughed about whether it was necessary. We didn't expect to be scared later. No one took the cable car in the morning. I regretted that I should have come to the ground crack first after 7 o'clock, so that I could go out in 40 minutes. There shouldn't be too many people taking the cable car at 8:30, and even if I queued, it wouldn't take a long time. We left the scenic area at two o'clock. We rented a car and drove by ourselves. When I looked at the map, the scenic area back to Enshi was a long red. The police uncle out of the parking lot was very good. He asked where to go and pointed to another road and said to go there. It was very congested here. Baidu Maps couldn't find that route and kept turning around. I walked a few kilometers with fear and asked a policeman to confirm that I was not wrong. After a few kilometers, the map found the route and it took an hour to return to Enshi. It was smooth all the way. In short, it was not bad. It was quite good to play in the Grand Canyon during the 11th holiday. Except for the ground crack, few people did not queue up. It is recommended that you enter the park early during the National Day holiday. It is said that the queue for the entrance to the scenic area gate exceeded one hour later that day. We drove back and found that the self-driving cars were parked on the roadside several kilometers outside the scenic area. It took me an hour to walk to the scenic area gate. But according to the results of our poison testing, spicy sausages, eggs, instant noodles, and chicken skewers did not cause any adverse reactions after eating, so they are safe to eat.

I would like to reiterate that it is very convenient to purchase tickets for all attractions online one day in advance and pick them up directly at the ticket machine the next day. This is both cheap and you don't have to queue up to buy tickets.
