Hubei Museum

Located on the bank of East Lake, it is an important national museum in my country with rich collections of cultural relics and the largest exhibition hall of ancient musical instruments in China.
The Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, the chime bells of Zenghouyi, the skull fossil of Yunxian man, and the plum vase with the Four Loves in blue and white porcelain of the Yuan Dynasty are the four treasures of the museum that are worth seeing.
It consists of antique buildings such as the Comprehensive Exhibition Hall, Chu Culture Hall, and Chime Bell Hall, reflecting the architectural layout of ancient Chu State buildings.
The daily exhibitions in the museum have distinct characteristics of ancient Chu culture and ancient Yangtze River civilization.
There are chime performances every day. The exhibits and display positions in the museum may change according to demand. You can visit according to the signs in the museum.

The long history of Chinese civilization and the long history of Chu

The four most treasured treasures of Hubei Provincial Museum are: Zenghouyi chime bells, Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, Yuan Dynasty blue and white plum vase with the Four Loves, and Yunxian human skull fossil.

The first season of "National Treasure" tells the story of the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, the Yunmeng Shuihudi Qin Bamboo Slips and the Zenghouyi Chime Bells.

At 10 o'clock, I met a volunteer guide and listened to him for more than an hour. I learned a lot. It's better to go to the museum early. When I left the Zeng Yihou exhibition hall at 11 o'clock, there were already many people queuing outside the exhibition hall. Even the canteen had to limit the number of people entering. There was no water in the bathroom. I really have to complain about it😱ི

The live performance of chime bells was good, with chime bells, harp, xun and pan flute complementing each other. You need to buy tickets earlier on holidays. When I went there after 11 o'clock, I could only buy tickets for 12:30. When I lined up to enter at 12:15, I could only buy tickets for the afternoon.

We had lunch at Kanglong Taizi Wine House opposite the Provincial Museum. We didn't get to drink the signature lotus root and pork ribs soup (lotus root was out of season), the crispy duck, but the braised Wuchang fish, Mianyang three steamed dishes, and glutinous rice cake we ordered were all delicious, but there were too many people lining up (#crazy)

The Soul of the Land of Jingchu - First Encounter with Wuhan

【Hubei Provincial Museum】

Hubei Province is abbreviated as "E" and its capital city Wuhan is abbreviated as "Han". Wuhan is located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and is divided into two parts by the Yangtze River. The right side is Wuchang, and the left side is divided into two parts by the Han River. The upper part is Hankou and the lower part is Hanyang. The two rivers form a pattern of the three towns of Wuhan facing each other across the river.

The history of Wuhan area can be traced back to the Neolithic Age 8,000 to 6,000 years ago. The Panlongcheng Ruins was the palace city of the Shang Dynasty Fang State about 3,500 years ago. The Chu people helped the Zhou Dynasty to destroy the Shang Dynasty. King Cheng of Zhou granted the Chu people Xiong the title of viscount and established a country in Jingshan. The Chu people took Mi as their surname and Xiong as their clan name. During the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, the Chu people fought for hegemony in the Central Plains and became one of the Five Hegemons of the Spring and Autumn Period and the Seven Heroes of the Warring States Period.

The Wuhan area of Hubei is located in the northeast of Chu. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was Jiangxia of Liu Biao of Jingzhou. In the Three Kingdoms period, it was Xiakou of Sun Quan of Eastern Wu. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was one of the four gathering places in the world and Wuchang, the capital of Huguang provinces. In the Republic of China, it was the temporary capital of China. Wuhan, which merged three towns, has been moving towards its glory step by step.

If you want to know a city, you must first visit its museum, which is the best way to know it. Nowadays, museums in various provinces and cities are also doing their best to tell their glorious history and fully and selflessly display it to everyone for free.

After getting off the train in the morning and checking in, the first stop was the Hubei Museum located in the northern part of Wuchang District, Wuhan City. It is located on the shore of the scenic Wuhan East Lake, on the north side of Wuhan University. The exhibition hall faces east and west. The building is magnificent and has a very Chu-Han style.

There is an endless stream of tourists visiting here, far more than in our museums in Tianjin. In addition to us, there are more organized primary and secondary school students in school uniforms. Under the guidance of their teachers, they visit and study seriously, and some even answer questions on the spot, which shows that Hubei's education methods are superior.

The exhibition hall has three floors. You can visit each floor one by one. Through these precious collections of cultural relics and graphic introductions, you can have a preliminary and superficial understanding of the brilliant history, figures and traditional culture of the Jingchu land. The visit took place on April 16, 2019.

Hubei Provincial Museum is located on the bank of East Lake, No. 156, Donghu Road, Wuchang District. It covers a total area of 81,909 square meters, with a construction area of 49,611 square meters and an exhibition area of 13,427 square meters. It has a collection of more than 200,000 pieces (sets) of cultural relics. The four treasures of the museum are: the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, the chime bells of Zenghouyi, the skull fossil of Yunxian people, and the blue and white plum vase with the Four Loves of Yuan Dynasty.

The museum is very well designed. The chime concert received 10 stars. The musical instrument from more than 2,000 years ago sounded again in the land of Jingchu. It felt like traveling through time and space. After the performance, the musician leaned forward slightly to take a bow, which was very elegant and left a deep impression on me.

I took a photo of the museum and chime concert schedule p2. You can bring your ID card to the museum, or you can register without it. The chime concert is 30 yuan per person, and 20 yuan with a student ID.

After that, we arrived at the Provincial Museum. It was 10:00 noon. Except for the Chime Bell Hall and Gou Jian's Sword Hall, there were not many people. The treasures of the Provincial Museum are really shocking. After visiting for more than an hour, I found that it was raining heavily when I went out. Fortunately, I brought a raincoat. I was very tired at this time, so I didn't go to Qingchuan Pavilion and Guqin Terrace. Then I changed to an early train and arrived at Chibi in advance to rest.

By Leisurely |

The Hubei Provincial Museum and the Hubei Art Museum are adjacent to each other, on the west bank of East Lake, and both are free. There are four treasures in the museum: the skull fossil of a man from Yunxian County, the chime bells of Zenghouyi, the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, and the blue and white "Four Loves" plum vase from the Yuan Dynasty. The guide says that there are chime bell performances every day, but now there are none. There is also an exhibition of the Tomb of the King of Liang in the Ming Dynasty, which is the joint tomb of Zhu Zhanji [jì], the ninth son of Ming Renzong Zhu Gaochi, and his second concubine Wei. It is golden and dazzling. The images designed by the ancients are simple and beautiful, and both ancient mythical beasts and birds and beasts are cute. There is also a very cute piglet shape on a bronze ware. I think this year is the Year of the Pig, and the museum's cultural creation should make a fuss about this! In the end, I didn't take any photos, and I didn't find any related products.

In last year's "National Treasure" at the Hubei Museum, the princes and common people told the story of the thousand-year history of Chu. Although I missed the Egyptian cultural relics exhibition, I still saw the Sword of the King of Yue, the Yunmeng Bamboo Slips, and the Bronze Chimes.

The guide said that the range of tones is clearly recorded on the chimes, and one can play music just by looking at them. The ancients' fantastic ideas and ingenuity are enough to amaze people.

By ljabs |

A grand and solemn museum. I happened to come across an Egyptian cultural relic exhibition, where I could see mummies up close. Zeng Houyi spent his whole life eating, drinking and having fun, but because of a set of chime bells, he actually went down in history. The Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, was so new that everyone exclaimed that it was incredible. It was very grand and shocking to see it in person, and it was completely different from the feeling of seeing it in photos.

▲Location: Hubei Provincial Museum is close to East Lake Wuhan University. I took the bus from Qingchuan Pavilion and it is not far away.

▲Environment: The main building is in the shape of a U-shaped building. It is relatively large and has 4 floors. It is probably because it is Sunday. There are so many people that it is so crowded that I am almost suffocating.

▲Recommendation: The most famous treasures of the museum are the chime bells and Gou Jian, King of Yue.

The magic of the chimes is simply astonishing

"The best sword in the world" - the Sword of Gou Jian, King of Yue, is extremely sharp. This thin little sword is really exquisite. You can feel its sharpness through the glass.

▲Service: You can follow the guide to listen to the scene. It is noisy and crowded, or you can go home and do your homework~

Hubei Provincial Museum is one of the eight national museums jointly built by the central and local governments, a national first-class museum, and has a rich collection of cultural relics. The museum's collection features bronzes from the Shang and Zhou dynasties, lacquerware from the Warring States, Qin and Han dynasties, bamboo slips from the Chu, Qin and Han dynasties, and gold and jade artifacts unearthed from the tombs of vassal kings in the Pre-Qin and Ming dynasties. The collection is complete in system, rich in quantity, exquisite in quality, and distinct in regional characteristics. The ten "treasures of the museum", such as the Yunxian human skull fossil, the Shijiahe jade statue, the Chongyang bronze drum, the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, and the Zenghouyi chime bells, are well-known at home and abroad. Not only does it house such treasures as the Zenghouyi chime bells, the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, and the Yuan Dynasty blue and white plum vase with the Four Loves, but it also connects the long scroll of Hubei history from prehistoric civilization to the Ming and Qing dynasties with its grand exhibition space and systematic narrative logic. The intricate patterns on the Chu bronzes give us a glimpse of the pioneering spirit of "starting from scratch", and the Zenghouyi Tomb exhibition area brings to life the ritual and music civilization of more than 2,000 years ago by restoring the tomb structure and displaying a combination of unearthed cultural relics.

By Twenty-nine |

One of the highly recommended destinations.

From the thousand-year-old echo of the chime bells to the cold light of the sword of the King of Yue, from the bronze miracle of Zenghou Yi to the jewels of King Zhuang of Liang, every cultural relic here tells the story of the Jingchu soul of "refusing to submit to the Zhou Dynasty"!

The permanent exhibitions of the Provincial Museum are:

The "Sword of Goujian, King of Yue" exhibition and "Zeng Family - Archaeological Secrets of Zeng State" are located on the second floor of the South Hall;

"Eight Hundred Years of Chu" and "The Collection of King Liangzhuang" are located on the third floor of the South Pavilion;

"Looking to the Sky - Exhibition of Hubei History and Culture" is located in the North Pavilion;

The Chime Concert Hall is located on the west side of the B1 floor of the South Building (separate ticket required).

The food inside is too expensive. Make an appointment in advance, bring a cup to drink water, there are volunteers to explain, you don't need to rent an interpreter, it is definitely better than the interpreter

By Black Horse |

The most convenient way is to take Metro Line 8 to the "Provincial Museum Hubei Daily" station. When you exit the station, you will first see the "Hubei Art Museum". Across the road is the "Hubei Provincial Museum". This is the north gate of the "Hubei Provincial Museum". You cannot enter the museum through this gate. It is only a place to store large luggage. The north gate is the old building of the "Hubei Provincial Museum". You can exit from this gate after the visit. [The picture below is the north gate of the "Hubei Provincial Museum"]

The entrance to the Hubei Provincial Museum is at the south gate, which is the new museum (walk along the museum wall next to the north gate, Huangli Road → Shengbo Road, about 600 meters). You need to make an appointment on the Hubei Provincial Museum’s official account to visit, but when I went there, I only needed to swipe my ID card to enter the museum, perhaps because it was the off-season.

The new building consists of four floors and one underground floor:

B1: ① Tianlai (early musical instruments unearthed in Hubei) ② Chime Concert Hall (Tickets for chime performances cannot be booked online yet, you need to buy tickets on site after entering the museum, four performances a day)

First floor (L1): Zenghouyi 1

Second floor (L2): ① Zeng Hou Yi 2 ② Sword of Gou Jian, King of Yue (just a sword) ③ Zeng Family - the secrets of Zeng State revealed by archaeology

Third floor (L3): ① 800 years of Chu State 1 ② 800 years of Chu State 2 ③ Liangzhuang King's Collection

Fourth floor (L4): ① Chuyi ② Painting and calligraphy exhibition hall ③ Lacquer museum

Important Tips:

1. If you are the first group to enter the museum at 9:00, go straight to the second floor "Sword of Goujian, King of Yue" exhibition hall. At this time, there are the least people, and you can appreciate the national treasure "Sword of Goujian, King of Yue" beautifully. After this time, you will have to queue up at the door to limit the flow of people. The palm-sized display cabinet is full of people, and it is very difficult to see the "Sword of Goujian, King of Yue" up close. Don't forget to turn off the flash when taking pictures, protect the cultural relics, and visit the exhibition in a civilized manner.

2. Key points to visit: On the first floor, there is "Zeng Hou Yi 1", which contains all the great artifacts of the country. Among them, the "Ten Great Treasures of Hubei Provincial Museum" - "Zeng Hou Yi Chime Bells" and "Zeng Hou Yi Zun Pan" are here, which are worth a careful viewing.

3. Key points to visit: The second floor "Zeng Family - Archaeological Secrets of Zeng State", which contains many cultural relics.

4. Highlights: On the third floor, there is the “Eight Hundred Years of the Chu State 1”, where the “Ten Great Treasures of the Hubei Provincial Museum” – the “Tiger-seated Bird-shaped Drum” and the “Painted Lacquerwood Round Box with Figures, Horses and Chariots” are displayed; the “Six-horse Chariot” in the entrance hall shows the great power of the Chu State as a “country with thousands of chariots”

5. Key points to visit: "800 Years of Chu State 2" on the third floor. This exhibition hall has relatively few cultural relics, and mainly presents bamboo slips, jade wares, lacquerware, and silk fabrics unearthed from Chu tombs.

6. Highlights of the visit: The "Liangzhuang Wang Collection" on the third floor has a dazzling array of gold, silver and jade wares that are worth savoring. It is slightly inferior to the "Treasures of Lu Wang - Exhibition of Fine Cultural Relics Excavated from Zhu Tan's Tomb in the Ming Dynasty" at the Shandong Museum.

7. Key points to visit: The underground first floor "Tianlai (early musical instruments unearthed in Hubei)" must be visited. The "Chongyang Bronze Drum", one of the "Ten Treasures of the Hubei Provincial Museum", is here. The exhibition hall is very small, so you can take a look at it casually and finish it in half an hour.

If you don't go anywhere else in Wuhan, you must come here! There are so many people at the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, so be prepared to smell the oily hair and body odor; you will definitely like the collection of King Liangzhuang the most, the gold and silver treasures are dazzling. The property staff wipes the display cabinet glass at any time, which is a good comment! In addition, the flow between the exhibition halls feels a bit messy.

When you come to Wuhan, the Provincial Museum is a must-visit place. This is also the most visited museum I have ever seen. The Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, the Zenghouyi Chime Bells and other national treasures are worth seeing. The museum also has a concert of Zenghouyi Chime Bells, which costs 50 yuan per person. You can also come and see it. Pay attention to two points: it is best to ask for an explanation so that you can learn more about the history of the cultural relics. And be careful not to use flash when taking photos.

Hubei Provincial Museum was planned and built in 1953. It is a national first-class museum and one of the eight national key museums jointly built by the central and local governments. It has a very rich collection of more than 260,000 cultural relics, nearly 1,000 national first-class cultural relics, and four "treasures of the museum" - the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, the Zenghouyi chime bells, the skull fossil of Xunxian people and the Yuan Dynasty blue and white plum vase with the Four Loves. Among them, the Zenghouyi chime bells are the largest ancient musical instrument in China. The chime bell performance on the underground first floor is recommended, which is worth the ticket price.

I was going to Hubei Provincial Museum, and I saw many people said they made reservations through WeChat official account. I wanted to check if there was a luggage storage service, so I made a reservation directly on the official website. You can make a reservation for the next week. There are four entry time periods every day (closed on Monday): 9:00-11:00; 11:00-13:00; 13:00-15:00; 15:00-16:00. Remember to take a screenshot after making the reservation, and bring your ID card and the screenshot to enter the museum on the day.

Before I went, I saw on a red book that there were people queuing last weekend... emmm, there should be a lot of people on weekends. I saw a long road outside the entrance with yellow lines indicating the queue intervals. It is recommended to arrange it on weekdays. When I went there, there was no need to queue.

The free luggage storage service is really excellent. Visitors enter from the South Gate and exit from the North Gate. After the security check at the South Gate, you can store your luggage and go to see the exhibits. After the exhibition, go to the North Hall from the third floor. After exiting, go to the guard on the right to pick up your luggage, because while you are visiting, the guard will drive a small car to pull your luggage to the North Gate. However, if you store your small bag in the locker at the entrance of the South Hall, you will have to go back to pick it up after viewing the exhibits.

Although there was no queue to enter the museum, and there was indeed no crowded scene as described in a certain red book, there were still many people near the Zenghouyi chime bells and the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, so be mentally prepared.

When I went to see early musical instruments, I heard a girl behind me say, "I came here purely to learn how to read." Hahaha, I couldn't help but laugh.

There are very few people on the Liangzhuang King's side, but I like this exhibition very much. It fully displays the aristocratic life of Liangzhuang King and his wife Wei in the Ming Dynasty.

The chime performances are held three times a day from Tuesday to Friday: 11:00, 14:00, 15:00; and four times a day on weekends and statutory holidays: 10:30, 11:30, 14:00, 15:00. When I arrived at the ticket office, I saw that the queue was immediately cleared...

Hubei Provincial Museum | Stories about the Four Greatest Treasures

I got to know Hubei Museum when I was on the show "National Treasure". At that time, it introduced the Yunmeng Shuihudi Qin Bamboo Slips. Sa Beining was the guardian of national treasures, and we also saw it this time. But in fact, Hubei Provincial Museum has four major treasures, which are also four must-see cultural relics when visiting the museum.

.

【Zeng Hou Yi Chime Bells】, I believe everyone will remember this name. When this cultural relic from a student's textbook came to my eyes... it was simply too shocking, because it was much bigger and more spectacular than I had imagined.

.

The chime bells were found in the tomb of Zeng Hou Yi, a vassal of the Zhou Dynasty. Zeng Hou Yi had done a favor to the King of Chu, but because of his growing power, the King of Chu was wary of him. The King of Chu was worried that he might have second thoughts, but it was not easy to kill him directly, so he gave him four questions to test Zeng Hou Yi's mind:

1. Bronze vessels given to Zeng Houyi. In those days, bronze vessels were either used to make weapons or ritual (music) instruments. If Zeng Houyi made weapons, it would undoubtedly be a dead end. However, Zeng Houyi was very smart and loved music, so he made the set of chimes we see today.

2. The King of Chu came to Zeng Hou Yi's house with chime bells (the King of Chu's bell, the one in the middle of the whole chime bell, which is different from the others and can be recognized at a glance) and "presented bells" to him to test whether Zeng Hou Yi could not restrain himself and would kill him. Zeng Hou Yi was also frightened, but he was relieved when he saw that it was really chime bells.

3. The sounds produced by the chimes are divided into crisp (upper layer) and deep (lower layer). At that time, Zeng Houyi struck the upper layer and the King of Chu struck the lower layer. The King of Chu then said, "Look, I used so much strength but the sound is not as loud as yours." Zeng Houyi said, "Although the sound I struck is loud, it is still far inferior to yours."

4. The ingenious thing about Zenghouyi chime bells is that each chime bell can have two tones. At this time, the King of Chu asked again: What does this two tones mean? Do you have two minds? Zenghouyi replied: This two tones means that one chime bell can have two tones, and the Chu and Zeng states can certainly coexist harmoniously like him.

I admire Zeng Houyi's emotional intelligence. While he brought peace to the State of Zeng, he also left behind so many wonderful cultural relics for future generations.

.

[Sword of Gou Jian, King of Yue] "Sleeping on firewood and tasting gall", it is never too late for a gentleman to take revenge. We have long been familiar with the story of Gou Jian, King of Yue. This sword was the sword worn by Gou Jian, King of Yue. It was discovered in the Chu Tombs because it was "gifted" (daughter's dowry, marriage) to the King of Chu (in fact, it was the King of Chu who wanted to suppress him).

[Yunxian Man Skull Fossil] Its appearance proves that Asia and even China are also the birthplace of early humans, rather than a branch of Africa (Lucy), so it has particularly great historical significance.

.

[Blue and White Plum Vase with Four Loves], this is blue and white porcelain from the Yuan Dynasty, not the Qing Dynasty. There are less than 400 pieces of Yuan Dynasty blue and white porcelain handed down, and this one was unearthed from the tomb of Zhu Dong (the 23rd son of Zhu Yuanzhang). There are four pictures of ancient sages on the vase: Wang Xizhi loves orchids, Zhou Dunyi loves lotus, Tao Yuanming loves chrysanthemums, Lin Hejing loves plums and cranes.

TIPS: Please make an appointment on the Hubei Provincial Museum WeChat account before visiting.

The museum covers a large area, has many exhibition halls, and has always had many visitors. Many people sit on the ground and take a rest. You can spend a whole day here, walking slowly and looking slowly.

Very good, there is the Sword of King Yue, the Zenghouyi Zun Plate, and the chime bells. There are many treasures, it is worth a visit!

However, it is best to buy tickets in advance to watch the chime performance, otherwise you can only sigh at the museum when you arrive.

The Hubei Provincial Museum is located in the East Lake Scenic Area, Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. It houses four major treasures: the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, the Zenghouyi chime bells, the Yunxian human skull fossil, and the Yuan Dynasty blue and white plum vase with the Four Loves.

You must go to the Hubei Provincial Museum!!! This is the happiest destination of my trip. I finally saw the legendary four treasures of the museum~ I have recorded the relevant ticket reservations and the introduction of the four treasures in detail in my travel notes~ Friends can move to my travel notes~

The Provincial Museum is really big. I feel that if you want to take a closer look at the Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng, Gou Jian, King of Yue, blue and white porcelain and many other things, you still need a day. You must not miss the chime performance. We didn't catch it, o(╥﹏╥)o

By Maybe |

It's worth a visit. You need to stay longer. You must book tickets online one day in advance. If you want a tour guide, you must also book online in advance. There are many interesting cultural and creative products in the store on the 2nd floor, such as special refrigerator magnets, paper tapes, etc. There are also regular chime performances on the 1st floor, 25 minutes and 30 yuan, which is not bad. Unfortunately, there is not enough time and I can't visit it carefully.

Since it was a hot month in August, we naturally had a strategy to deal with it. For lunch, I casually had some hot dry noodles with soy milk near the Xinhai Revolution Memorial Park. Of course, I found a restaurant with air conditioning and cool air conditioning. After that, I took a Didi to the Hubei Provincial Museum. The weather was too hot, so I didn't want to walk to the subway station. The taxi cost more than 20 yuan, and the museum was not at the subway entrance, which was still 800 meters away.

When you come to Hubei Provincial Museum, you must naturally see its four treasures: the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, the Zenghouyi chime bells, the human skull fossil, and the Yuan Dynasty plum vase with the Four Loves.

The Zenghouyi chime performance is held in the concert hall next to the museum. It costs 30 yuan and the performance lasts 25 minutes. Unexpectedly, there were already people lining up half an hour before the performance started. It is a national treasure and there are several performances every day. There are pictures below.

By West Bamboo |

With your ID card, you can pass through the gate on the left side of the Provincial Museum for free. After entering, go straight to the building on the right side of the museum, where the ticket office and performance hall of the chime performance are located. We just caught up with the last performance of the day at 3 pm. The ticket price is 30 yuan, children under 1.4 meters are free, and seniors over 65 years old can buy tickets for 20 yuan with a voucher.

The reason why I want to visit the Provincial Museum’s chime performance is that it was performed in the program “National Treasure”. Secondly, the most important treasure of the Provincial Museum is the Zenghouyi chime, and the chime performance satisfies our enjoyment of both watching and listening (the chime in the performance was copied later, and the Zenghouyi chime as a cultural relic is in the exhibition hall). The chime performance does not use chimes throughout the whole process. It will be accompanied by guqin, panpipes, and dances throughout the performance. The performance lasts half an hour, and each program is refreshing. It is wonderful for modern people to enjoy ancient vocal music. Especially the last program, the chime played Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy”, which is simply the ultimate application of ancient, modern, Chinese and foreign.

After watching the chime performance, we entered the main building to tour the museum. The museum has four floors. When we walked along the stairs outside the main building and entered the lobby, we were actually on the second floor of the museum. We asked the front desk and found that there were no more tour guides or self-service equipment, so we could only walk around by ourselves. We took the elevator to the fourth floor and toured the entrances and exits of each venue.

The fourth floor has the famous "Sword of Goujian, King of Yue". Of course, I heard that the "Spear of Fuchai, King of Wu" is also in Hubei Provincial Museum. The history of Yangzhou began when Fuchai, King of Wu, built the Hang Canal. The story of the King of Wu and the King of Yue is enough to tell children for an afternoon. The distribution of venues in museums across the country is basically similar, with ceramics, bronzes, and calligraphy and painting exhibitions. The characteristics of Hubei Provincial Museum are the Chu Culture Exhibition, the Tomb of King Liangzhuang Exhibition, and the largest Zenghouyi Exhibition. It is natural to talk about Jingchu and Hubei, so it is natural to set up a special Chu Culture Exhibition Hall. The exhibition of Zenghouyi and his chime bells is the top priority of Hubei Provincial Museum. Zenghouyi chime bells are relatively complete large chime bells unearthed in China. For detailed information, I recommend everyone to watch "National Treasure".

Adjacent to the Hubei Provincial Museum, there are not many paintings inside, but some sculptures and ornaments are quite interesting.

Hubei Provincial Museum was the last place we visited on this trip. The museum is very large. I have the impression that it is about the same size as Shaanxi Museum. It is one of the eight national museums jointly built by the central and local governments in the country. It is mainly responsible for the collection, storage, protection, display and exhibition of cultural relics in Hubei Province, as well as the research of collections.

The most recommended part of the museum is the Zenghouyi Tomb on the first floor. The chime bells in the museum can be described as spectacular. The unearthed cultural relics from the Ming Dynasty Chu King Tomb upstairs are also pleasing to the eye. The culture of Chu needs to be savored carefully. It is better to leave more time to listen to the explanations of the volunteers.

I came here to see the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue. It was so popular that I was surrounded by people. Of the four treasures in Hubei Provincial Museum, the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, is the most popular.

Hubei Provincial Museum was planned and built in 1953. It is one of the eight national museums jointly built by the central and local governments, a national first-class museum, a key scientific research base of the State Cultural Heritage Administration for the protection of unearthed wood and lacquerware, and a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. It is also the largest, most extensive, and most scientifically-intensive national comprehensive museum in Hubei Province.

I chose the Provincial Museum because of these titles.

Hubei Provincial Museum is located in Wuhan East Lake Scenic Area, with a total area of 81,909 square meters, a building area of 49,611 square meters, and an exhibition hall area of 13,427 square meters. It has the largest exhibition hall of ancient musical instruments in China. There are more than 260,000 pieces (sets) of cultural relics in the museum, with bronzes, lacquerware and bamboo slips being the most distinctive, including 945 pieces (sets) of national first-class cultural relics and 16 pieces (sets) of national treasure-level cultural relics. The Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, the chime bells of Zenghouyi, the skull fossil of Yunxian people, and the blue and white plum vase with the Four Loves of Yuan Dynasty are the four treasures of the museum.

You must go to listen to this chime performance. This is probably the most worthwhile thing to do in Wuhan, music from more than 2,000 years ago. Unfortunately, many things are on loan, all of them are imitations. The bronze refrigerator is also an imitation. But I found that the largest chime was never played during the entire concert.

The museum has four floors in total. We rented a voice guide, but it was not perfect and many exhibits had no explanations. Turn right on the first floor and you will see the famous Zenghouyi Exhibition Hall. I was really glad that there were few people in the museum early, so it was very comfortable to view the collections. When we came out, there was already a long queue at the entrance of the exhibition hall due to the limited flow of people.

I was deeply moved by the eternal masterpiece. It is really great to see the Zenghouyi chime bells from more than 2,000 years ago interpret Chinese and foreign music! Thanks to the performers, the Hubei Provincial Museum, and the wisdom of the ancients.

Hubei Provincial Museum has a magnificent building with a simple shape and is full of the cultural flavor of Jingchu. The layout of the exhibition hall is reasonable and the content is rich, especially the Zenghouyi chime bells, which are world-famous and are the pinnacle of ancient Chinese bronze casting technology. It is also a great witness to the history of Chinese music. Its shocking sound is unforgettable.

Zenghouyi Pavilion is worth a special trip, not to mention the world-famous Sword of Goujian, King of Yue and other cultural relics

By Leather Hill |

The main building consists of one main building and two wings, with the comprehensive exhibition hall, Chu Culture Center and temporary exhibition hall standing on three legs, forming a huge "品" character.

The entire building complex embodies the architectural features of Chu style, including high-rise buildings, multi-layered wide eaves, and large sloping roofs.

Anyway, I like this look.

The Zenghouyi chime bells, the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, the Yuan Dynasty blue and white plum vase with the Four Loves, and the fossil skull of a man from Yunxian County are the four treasures of the museum.

The museum currently has more than 240,000 collections, including nearly 1,000 national first-class cultural relics, with bronzes, lacquered wood objects and bamboo slips being the most distinctive.

Among them, the Zenghouyi chime bells, the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, and the Yunmeng Shuihudi Qin Bamboo Slips were once shown in "National Treasure".

Among the permanent exhibition halls, I personally think that the Zenghouyi Exhibition Hall is the most exciting. It can also be said that this exhibition hall supports half of the Hubei Provincial Museum.

Tips

After buying the tickets for the chime performance, remember to queue up in advance so that you can get a front-row seat to watch the performance. If you go in late, only the back seats will be left.

For the free explanations and detailed performance times and prices of the chimes that everyone is concerned about, please see the travel notes.

5A scenic spot, four treasures of the town: the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, the chime bells of Zenghouyi, the skull fossil of Yunxian people, and the plum vase with the Four Loves in Yuan Dynasty blue and white porcelain. The first two are especially famous. On the right side of the first floor is the exhibition hall where the chime bells of Zenghouyi are located. Although I have seen them on TV, I was still shocked when I saw them in real life. The Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, is in the middle exhibition hall on the top floor. These treasures of the Chinese nation are worth seeing in person.

The buildings here are mostly red and Russian style. Life here feels slow and comfortable. When you are tired, you can drink coffee in a small restaurant nearby, as if you have returned to the life in the Republic of China.

You can enter by swiping your ID card. There are a lot of visitors and a wide variety of collections.

If you have time, I recommend listening to the chime concert. It's quite touching and I personally like it. We didn't ask for an explanation of the cultural relics exhibited in the museum, so we couldn't see anything, but looking at the works of the ancients, I was still surprised by the technology and ingenuity at that time. Recommended to check in!

The Provincial Museum can be said to be a must-visit place in Wuhan. There you can see precious cultural relics such as the popular national treasures, the chime bells, the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, and other precious cultural relics. There are also often temporary exhibitions of foreign art. The Egyptian cultural relics exhibition not long ago was very good!

I came to Wuhan just to see the chimes. I can watch the CCTV national treasure that can talk and listen to the previous performance recordings. In fact, there are many other contents in the museum. It is worth going.

It's amazing! Just for this attraction, it's worth coming to Wuhan.

The grand architecture, reasonable layout, elegant environment, amazing national treasures, and - near-perfect explanations make the Hubei Provincial Museum one of the most unforgettable attractions in Wuhan.

The treasures in Hubei Provincial Museum are so amazing that there is a term called "forbidden to be exhibited abroad". When this term is added to a certain cultural relic, you will know that it must be very important (unique, fragile, and of high academic value).

The most treasured items in the museum: chime bells and the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue.

Low-key but very important treasures: Shuihudi Qin Bamboo Slips, Baoshan Chu Bamboo Slips, Yunxian Skull Fossils, Qujialing Culture, etc.

Amazing treasures (exhibition area): exquisite and rich lacquerware, porcelain, etc., the tomb of King Hui of Liang, etc.

My comment on this attraction is: Don’t schedule the Provincial Museum on a certain day in your Wuhan itinerary, but make a special trip just to see the Provincial Museum! Three days is not too long, and seven days is not too much!

The Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng is the most worthwhile exhibition hall and also the most visited. The gold and jade collections are extremely exquisite, and the craftsmanship is amazing! These little sugar bean gems are so cute! Call for my big chimes!

Hubei Provincial Museum, I think the Zenghouyi Pavilion is enough. The bronzes inside are really amazing. Our ancestors are really awesome. In addition, you must listen to the explanations of the staff in the Zenghouyi Pavilion. It is difficult to understand it by yourself. The staff are really knowledgeable.

It is a national museum, with many and long-standing cultural relics. The chime bells are unique in China. It is also a witness to the birthplace of Chu and Han culture.

It is said that every time you go to a place, you must go to the museum to broaden your horizons with your children. In the museum, I happened to encounter the "Kingdom of the Pharaohs - Ancient Egyptian Civilization Exhibition", so I went in to take a look and learn about the civilization of ancient Egypt.

By Forget the Moon |

You must go to see the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue!!! It is a thing from thousands of years ago, but it is almost undamaged and still looks so sharp. The chime bells are also very impressive. I really want to listen to the chime bell performance in person.

The museum is open to the public free of charge and is also closed on Mondays. There is a chime performance in the chime concert hall on the second floor, but you need to buy a ticket separately. Out of respect for historical art, I bought a ticket for the chime performance (30 yuan/person). After enjoying the chime performance, I couldn't help but feel the great creation of the ancients. With the excitement of being infected by art, I continued to visit all the exhibition halls, which took more than 4 hours.

By Xiao Xiao Fen |

The main hall is built on three legs, forming a big Chinese character "品".

The chime performance hall is on the west side of the main hall.

There is a luggage locker at the entrance of the main hall, which is quite convenient.

When the treasure craze brought by the National Treasures swept across the country, exhibits that became Internet celebrities, such as the Zenghouyi chime bells, the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, and the Yunmeng Shuihudi Qin Bamboo Slips, were all clearly marked in the museum so that they can be quickly found.

However, here is a small tip: if you enter from the main hall, the museum lobby is actually on the second floor. So, when you follow the map, you must know your location clearly.

Although it was covered by glass, the exquisiteness, grandeur and well-preserved state of the chimes still shocked me deeply. Not to mention, this is not a static cultural relic.

Her value lies in the fact that she is an exquisite ancient musical instrument that combines heaviness and delicacy.

Since it is a musical instrument, when you stand in front of it, how can you not be curious about how the sound from the Warring States Period has echoed through thousands of years to today?

The whole performance was wonderful.

The sound of metal and stone seems to be able to vibrate and penetrate the soul.

The tone is ethereal and noble.

Even if your trip is short, you must visit the Hubei Provincial Museum to explore the Jingchu culture! (Highly recommended!)

Travel tips: It is interesting to do some research before visiting the museum. The theme museum of the second issue of "National Treasure" (i.e. 2017-12-10: The Dance of Fire and Bronze) is Hubei Museum, which tells the story of three cultural relics in the collection - the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, the chime bells of Zenghouyi, and the Qin bamboo slips from Shuihudi, Yunmeng, which are definitely worth seeing. The museum has a chime bell performance (with many good reviews, it is said to be very good). I originally planned to go this time, but after asking the staff, I was told that there was no performance (a complaint, the official WeChat public account of Hubei Provincial Museum clearly stated that there was a chime bell performance on holidays... Can the information be synchronized online and offline).

On the fourth day of the National Day, I arrived at the Hubei Provincial Museum at about 9 am. There was already a long queue outside the museum. Don't panic, the museum has no flow limit, and the whole queue moves at a considerable speed. My companion and I lined up from the bus stop all the way to the door. I thought it would take a long time, but it only took 20 minutes.

The treasure of Hubei Provincial Museum - Zenghouyi chime bells. It is really shocking to see it with your own eyes. After more than 2,000 years, the huge and intact chime bells are presented to the world.

The chime bells stand in the center of the exhibition hall, surrounded by exquisite ancient musical instruments. The number and variety of them are breathtaking.

The Hubei Museum is a large venue. Although there are many people during the National Day holiday, the exhibition hall is not crowded, and you can definitely get a glimpse of the true appearance of each cultural relic.

Take a picture of the whole museum from upstairs. The light grey granite exterior and the dark blue grey glazed tile roof make the building worth seeing.

On the right hand side of the main building of the museum is the Zenghouyi exhibition hall. I have to sigh that there are so many treasures in the Zenghouyi tomb! A real home of bells and tripods~ I was lucky enough to meet a volunteer guide there. This lady should be the best speaker I have met in various museums in recent years. She has a relatively rich understanding of the cultural relics themselves and various backgrounds. It took more than an hour just to follow her. Thanks to the national treasure, the Yunmeng Qin bamboo slips that were previously stored in the warehouse are now on display! But the funny thing is that it replaced the position of the spear of King Fuchai of Wu. I heard that the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, and the spear of King Fuchai of Wu were exhibited opposite each other before, but now the spear is not on display. Õ_Õ Enter the museum gate, the small building in the front right is to watch the chime performance, the ticket price is 30, cash only, and the performance time can be checked on the museum website. Large luggage can be stored in the room next to the security check. There are also two rows of supermarket-like storage boxes at the entrance of the main building of the museum. There are Chinese and Western restaurants on the top floor~

Recommendation index: three stars. When we went there at 4:30, the staff there was more anxious than us, saying that it was almost over and we should hurry in. So after taking a photo of the gate, we went in under the urging of the staff. I didn't expect that there would be so many people in the National Day Museum. The second floor was a bit creepy. I was really scared when I saw the mummy as soon as I entered.

The Hubei Provincial Museum is located in the East Lake Scenic Area, Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. I went there very early in June this year and took a bus to get there. I spent about 3 and a half hours walking around. I recommend visiting 3 exhibition areas, namely the Chu Culture Exhibition, the Tomb of Zenghou Yi, and the Tomb of King Liangzhuang - Treasures of the Zheng He Era.

In the Chu Culture Exhibition Area, we saw the famous Sword of Goujian, King of Yue, and Qin Bamboo Slips of Yunmeng Sleeping Tiger. Thanks to the national archives, we have the opportunity to see these treasures. Liangzhuang Wang was a vassal king of the Ming Dynasty who was enfeoffed in Zhongxiang. The tombs of him and his queen were exhibited, including gold, silver, gems, jade, etc. These gems all came from overseas and were brought back by Zheng He from his voyages to the West. Such a magnificent tomb shows the strength of the Ming Dynasty at that time, but it also brought a heavy burden to the national finances. Zenghouyi's Tomb is so famous that I couldn't wait to see the famous chimes and other musical instruments, lacquerware, bronzes, etc. Haha, I spent an hour in the Zenghouyi Exhibition Hall and it was very enjoyable

By Geng |

As soon as you enter the main hall, you will see a set of replica chimes. There will be performances at regular intervals, but unfortunately I didn't catch up. On the first floor are the most famous cultural relics unearthed from the Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng. I met a volunteer guide who is comparable to Yi Zhongtian. After listening to the teacher, you will find that the ancients were really awesome. The exhibits of Marquis Yi of Zeng on the first floor are where you spend the most time. . . I listened to the teacher for more than an hour without realizing it, but it was worth it. The porcelain exhibition on the second floor is not very interested in porcelain, mainly because there are not many stories behind porcelain. After seeing the cultural relics in the Tomb of King Liang, it's time to go to the final highlight exhibition hall, the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue. It's a bit short, but the pattern is so beautiful. There are still a lot of people, basically surrounding the Sword of Goujian, King of Yue. . . There is also an exhibition hall on the first floor that talks about the modern tea trade, which you can take a look at.
