Named after Li Yuanhong, the leader of the Xinhai Revolution, there are still about 17 European-style buildings left over from the concession era on both sides of Lihuangpi Road.
After Hankou was opened as a port, foreign powers poured in and divided the city into concessions, established consulates and foreign companies, and the city became an abnormally prosperous place with a colonial flavor, becoming the "Chicago of the East" where the colonists were reluctant to leave.
Lihuangpi Road in the center of the concession is a microcosm of this humiliating history.
Today, the Lihuangpi Road Street Museum includes 17 ancient buildings, with tablets erected at the beginning and end of the street.

The Lihuangpi Road Street Museum is protected as an open museum. The whole street is not long. When we went there, Lihuangpi Road was under restoration and many buildings were fenced off.
Travel suggestions: There are many literary coffee shops and pubs along the street. It is a good choice to sit down and take a rest or have a cup of afternoon tea.
Riding along the river bank, you can easily find Lihuangpi Road. The entrance is the former site of the Chinese Christian Church Xinyi Building.
The manhole covers on the street are printed with the words "Hankou Historical and Cultural District", as well as a route map of the "Tea Horse Road" and the ancient tea road.
Many of the old buildings in Lihuangpi are made of red bricks and red wood.
The whole street is not long, and it becomes a very ordinary street after leaving Lihuangpi Road.
We strolled around Lihuangpi Road very casually, looking at whatever we came across. It was impossible to collect all 17 old sites.
It is a very distinctive place with mostly old buildings that are well preserved. Some have been converted into bars, teahouses, and galleries. It is suitable for taking photos and is a good place to produce films.
Named after Li Yuanhong, the leader of the Xinhai Revolution, there are still about 17 European-style buildings left over from the concession era on both sides of Lihuangpi Road.
As it was once divided into rental areas, it is famous for its ancient buildings, mostly bars and coffee shops, and there were not many tourists when I went there at dinner time.
Lihuangpi Road is the "street museum" of Wuhan, with retro buildings and cafes. Any photo you take will be a Republic of China-style blockbuster!
It's a short road with various coffee shops on both sides, mainly for leisure.
The buildings here are mostly red and Russian style. Life here feels slow and comfortable. When you are tired, you can drink coffee in a small restaurant nearby, as if you have returned to the life in the Republic of China.
The pedestrian street with western-style architecture now has some art markets and many cafes on the street. It is a perfect place for wedding photos.
I went there during the Chinese New Year, there were few people, but the overall effect was average
The old buildings in the concession area have short streets and pedestrian streets, and are heavily commercialized.
There are many interesting shops, just stroll around and eat something delicious 😋
Highly recommended! There are many old sites, old buildings and stylish cafes along the way. It is suitable for strolling slowly, taking pictures or finding a cafe to rest quietly.
The old villa has been freshly painted and looks good, full of artistic style!
It is recommended to go there in the afternoon, find a street coffee shop, and spend a lazy afternoon, listening to songs and watching passers-by, enjoying the quiet afternoon time.
A lot of the road is being repaired and dug up, which somewhat destroys the beauty~
Many shops are closed. Maybe it's because the weather is too hot.
Such a path should become more and more interesting in the next ten years.
There are various fitness equipment in the community~
Watch out for mosquito bites!
As one of the birthplaces of the revolution, this place has some of the flavor of Shanghai Xintiandi.
You can take more beautiful photos of your significant other. We took photos here for an entire afternoon.
Named after Li Yuanhong, the leader of the Xinhai Revolution.
It was once included in the Russian Concession in Hankou.
It is very close to Hankou River Beach and is a famous slow-life neighborhood in Wuhan.
"It doesn't matter if I get beheaded, as long as the doctrine is true. Even if Xia Minghan is killed, there will be others to come." Written at the former site of the Russian police station.
A very retro and artistic street
Have afternoon tea and chat with friends
A very bourgeois life, haha
Lihuangpi Road is a famous "slow life" street in Wuhan, and it is the continuation of Hankou's spirit and temperament. Just take some photos, 40 minutes is enough.
It is the old Hankou Concession area, which retains some old buildings and old houses. After renovation, coffee shops and small art stores were added.
When you enter from the intersection, you can see various buildings from the Republic of China, a variety of small shops, and couples who come here to take wedding photos.
Take a slow walk and you will feel that this place is both vicissitudes and fashionable, silently continuing the spirit and temperament of old Hankou.
Recommended reason: renovation of old buildings, fusion of petty bourgeoisie and fireworks. Many travel notes mentioned that this place is similar to Tanhualin. But maybe I went at the wrong time, Tanhualin was being renovated, and Lihuangpi Road, which I was not very interested in, gave me some surprises. Some old buildings here are given petty bourgeoisie style, but some residential buildings with a strong sense of fireworks are also retained. This makes the petty bourgeoisie atmosphere less hypocritical, and the taste is just right. Note! Go out from the door between the two sections of cherry blossom trails, across the road is the intersection of Lihuangpi Road, you can visit it.
The Lihuangpi Road Street Museum is 604 meters long and was built in 1900 (the 26th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu). All the houses on Lihuangpi Road are "excellent historical buildings", which is really excellent! There are many coffee shops on the street, but unfortunately they are closed during the Spring Festival, so it seems a bit deserted, but it is suitable for taking pictures.
Maybe my expectations were too high. It wasn't as good as I imagined. It didn't take long to finish the tour. If you like architecture, you can come and see the past of Hankou. It's a good place to take pictures.
Lihuangpi Road is known as a street museum because the area was once a Russian concession, so there are many old houses, which have now been transformed into various cafes and bars. The overall petty bourgeoisie feel is full, and it is a holy place for taking photos. Despite the rain, I still saw the young ladies posing in front of the store in various poses for photos, as if their hearts were full of sunshine.
Before reaching Lihuangpi Road, you can already see buildings full of the style of the times on Zhongshan Avenue, which intersects with it. The style becomes even stronger when you step onto Lihuangpi Road, which is paved with smooth and delicate floor tiles. The most exquisite part is probably the section after Shengli Street - cafes and taverns have been opened in the row of small Western-style buildings. The neatly arranged and comfortable outdoor seats are safely hidden under the awnings. Between the small buildings and the awnings, there are delicate and vigorous potted plants planted on the windowsills and on both sides of the doors. There are also some vines like creepers that go up along the downpipes, spreading a layer of lush greenery on the surface of this inorganic material. The lights under the haze are particularly warm, gently lighting up the stylish corners in this vast world.
Lihuangpi Road is not long, and it was quicker to walk around than expected. As a tourist attraction, tourists can be described as scarce. Compared with Tanhualin, which I visited later, there are not many small shops here, and most of them are restaurants. In addition, perhaps because of the National Day, many shops are still closed. There are almost no shops to visit, but it is still nice to stop for a while to drink coffee and take some photos. It is a very promising tourist attraction!
The Living History Museum was a quick tour because it was acquired in a hurry.
But the environment is still very good and suitable for health
I really want to live out my life in peace.
Lihuangpi Street Museum is worthy of its name. Walking on the street is like walking in the track of modern history. I was touring Lihuangpi in reverse, looking for Lihuangpi Street Museum, but I didn't know that I had already met it. Fortunately, I turned around and saw the archway, and I felt like "Looking back suddenly, that person is in the dim light."
The buildings in the concession area back then were very distinctive and were known as street museums. In recent years, centralized renovations have begun to take place, with vehicles banned from passing through, making the streets tidier and cleaner. If you have time, it's worth a visit.
I went there when I was in school. It was very beautiful when I first saw it. I had never seen foreign buildings at that time.
A great place to take photos! Friends who want to take photos will come here for a worthwhile trip! It's just that the road is too short! It's a pity that I didn't take enough photos! In this vicinity, we found a century-old noodle restaurant ~ Xiaoji Dinghao Beef Noodles Headquarters! The beef noodles and noodle nests are very delicious!
A small street filled with modern Chinese history, the road made of stones tells many stories... The British and Russian Concessions, the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, and the vigorous revolution are all worth remembering.
Hankou Lihuangpi Road, with a total length of 604 meters, was built in 1900 by people from Huangpi and was named Huangpi Road. Because two presidents of the Republic of China, Li Yuanhong, were from Huangpi and were known as Lihuangpi, the road was renamed Lihuangpi Road in 1946. In 1997, the Jiang'an District Government of Wuhan City built it into a street museum as a memorial. The Lihuangpi Road Street Museum includes 17 ancient buildings, with tablets at the beginning and end of the street.
Lihuangpi Road has left many memories of the Republic of China period, giving people a sense of time travel. Now it is a gathering place for small fresh and literary arts, and it is worth a visit. If you are interested, you can read my travel notes
It's quite nice to say that nearby are the former residence of Song Qingling, the former site of the American Consulate, and the former site of the August 7th Conference. It's also very nice to take a ride on a yellow car.
It's a very short street with a coffee shop on the side, it's okay!
When I arrived at Lihuangpi Road, it was under repair and there was still a lot of dust. However, this street was quite artistic, with small-scale cafes on both sides of the road.
There are a lot of people taking wedding photos on this road, and the scenery here is really good.
A relatively petty street, suitable for walking and taking photos
Mainly look at the buildings, there is a pedestrian street nearby, you can go shopping
By chance, I booked Hua Ting here. It’s nice to take a walk here every morning and evening, slowly feeling the unique customs and deliciousness here.
The hotel I stayed in was on this street. I didn't really like this street. It was very ordinary, but maybe it had some historical significance. There was a 24-hour hot dry noodles nearby. Although it looked very ordinary, it was very popular with locals. I recommend it.
From Xintai Building to the old site of Lixing Foreign Company, Lihuangpi Road has become a gathering place for art and fresh styles. However, the original style of those buildings has been covered by cafes and western restaurants.
I like all the literary places, I love them so much
Lihuangpi Road Street Museum, December 23, 2016, Wuhan.
This is the most minimal and fresh place in Wuhan. It is very suitable for taking pictures. It is easy to shoot. It is a good choice to spend an afternoon here. Here is a map for your reference~
There are characteristic old buildings and literary shops. The whole Lihuangpi Road is not very long, and it feels like it didn't take long to walk around. But the environment is very good. If you like, you can enjoy a leisurely time in the coffee shop here.
You can stroll around, it's a more literary road, stroll around~
It's great, there are many European-style ancient buildings. The street is not long. You can walk
I went to this place with my friends and had heard of its fame for a long time.
It took me about half an hour to walk from Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street. When I first arrived, I was really shocked by the concession buildings. I felt that this area was really beautiful and quiet.
Then, continue to walk around. There are many interesting restaurants, cafes and bars here. In addition, many studio workers also come here to play. The further you go inside, the more people there are. Overall, the scenery is really good.
Let's talk about food. The consumption here is relatively high, but it is very suitable for boyfriends and girlfriends to come here for a date and eat and go shopping.
There are many interesting places around. I remember there is a place called Taixingli, which is basically cats + coffee. Young literary people will probably like it very much.
I don't know if I went to the wrong place, it felt like the roads and electricity were being repaired everywhere I went. I didn't know it was as good as netizens said until I got there. Anyway, I, a layman, didn't see anything special about it. I don't recommend it to those who don't have artistic talent or have a tight schedule. I think I just came here to walk around the streets and watch them repair.
It's a small street, and you can walk around it quickly. There are many coffee shops.
I didn't make it because the road was under construction. Looking at the road sign, I think it's worth a visit. Maybe next time I have a chance.
Lihuangpi Road - Street Museum, Meipian***7d65tx1
When I went there this year, a pedestrian street had been built. There were not many tourists, but it was still very atmospheric during the National Day. The fluttering national flag and the exquisite buildings had a different kind of beauty. The Western-style buildings on this old street are relatively well preserved, such as the former site of the American Naval Christian Association, but now it has become an office building and cannot be visited. The old man at the door was quite interesting. He also told us that there was the former residence of Soong Ching Ling and the Customs Museum in front (just over Jianghan Road). When I came here before, I noticed a small gallery. This time, a ceramic exhibition of Korean artists was being held. The 5 yuan ticket can be used as a voucher inside. It's quite interesting, especially the combination of celadon and Korean patterns, which feels very interesting. The postcards are all original patterns, 6 yuan each. I feel that Wuhan's cultural undertakings are also slowly developing. It's also a good thing that people are willing to go to art galleries regardless of whether they understand it or not.
This road leads to Yanjiang Avenue. There are many Western-style buildings along the river. There are introduction signs at the door. Hankou's old concession area is generally not big. It takes only more than ten minutes to walk from Tianjin Road to Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street. Please note that some roads are under construction, so it is very noisy when walking...
2016.7.15 The buildings in Hankou are very suitable for leisurely viewing. However, I did not see Lihuangpi this time because it was under construction and it was difficult to move forward. I just sat on the side of the road and ate a bowl of hot dry noodles and walked around the surrounding area.
It is under repair, the scenery is average, and the old house after renovation has lost its original charm.
When I went there, construction was going on, with yellow earth everywhere. There was a kindergarten nearby, and the road was blocked by many parents who were picking up their children. There were all kinds of advertisements posted on the walls along the road.
It's much smaller than expected, but still quite distinctive.
On both sides of this 604-meter-long road between Yanjiang Avenue and Zhongshan Avenue in Jiang'an District, Wuhan, there are 16 representative buildings from the Hankou Lease period from the 1860s to the first half of the 20th century, including Gothic, Baroque, Classical Revival and other styles.
Bagong House is a modern classical revival building, which was built in 1901 and completed in 1910. It has a "V"-shaped plane and is an early multi-storey apartment in Wuhan.
This building should be the most noticeable.
Next to Ba Gong’s house is a red tourist attraction, the site of the August 7th Conference.
Some of these old houses from the rental period are still inhabited, while others have been converted into commercial shops such as bars, restaurants, and cafes.
I feel that this area is quite similar to Wukang Road and Hunan Road in Shanghai, both of which are relics of foreign concessions from the colonial period.
Unfortunately, the road was closed when I went there, and many shops were closed. I just walked along the road and looked around, it was quite unique. Recommended
It completely exceeded my expectations. It is really a street museum. There is only one road leading to the river. There are vertical streets on the central road. The previous buildings are basically next to the central street. There are retro buildings, romantic cafes, lush creepers, lazy cats... Very comfortable
An old historical street, at the intersection of Lihuangpi Road, there is a "Street Museum" sign. This is a museum that displays buildings with special history and exotic style as exhibits in the streets and alleys. There are more than ten European-style buildings on both sides of the street, which is very historical. It takes less than ten minutes to walk from Yuehan Wharf, and you can also pass by the former site of the American Consulate in Hankou. Many buses will pass by here, and the ferry is also here. However, these buildings are generally not allowed to be entered now, you can only look at them, but they look very spectacular and you can take some photos here. It feels very impressive. It is a place to take photos.
This really blew my mind. I thought it would be a beautiful building and a museum, but it turned out to be just a stele. We had to go through so much trouble to get to this place.
Please don't come to this place alone. Just pass by and take a look occasionally. It's a scam.
This is the legendary museum. Come and feel it. Zoom in and take a look at the words above: Huge Pit.
I just like old houses. I don't care. I'm going to give it five stars! Although I feel a little sorry for the residents living here, the houses are very old and dilapidated. Maybe they will be demolished, and then they will be occupied by old grandpas and grandmas.
If you are interested in history and architecture, the Lihuangpo Road Street Museum is worth a visit. As a historical memory, these buildings have been well preserved, but the surrounding environment is recommended to be improved. There are too many dark electric poles, which affects the vision.
It can be said to be an old building museum. Both sides of the road are early buildings, as well as Christian buildings. Now many buildings have been developed into various petty bourgeoisie stores. The introduction of the building outside is still a little lacking, not very detailed.
This is a must-see, the architecture is very unique! They are all European-style buildings. You can visit for free and see them while walking!
Lihuangpi Road is known as a street architecture museum. Until now, there are still about 17 European-style buildings left over from the concession era on both sides of Lihuangpi Road. You can come here to feel the old times. Many of the houses have been converted into teahouses, bars and cafes.
One end of Lihuangpi Road starts at Soong Ching Ling’s former residence, opposite which is a gate at Hankou River Beach, and the other end starts at Wuhan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital!
It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the Jianghan Customs Museum to Lihuangpi Road.
I am very interested in the old concession buildings, so this is a must-see attraction when visiting Wuhan
"Lihuangpi Road Street Museum" Old buildings from the Republic of China exude new sentiment
Hankou has many distinctive old streets. Although the streets are not wide, they are full of the vicissitudes of time... From them, we can get a glimpse of the former glory of Wuhan.
Lihuangpi Road is one of them. The stone tablet of "Street Museum" stands at the intersection. This street has been transformed into a carrier of the century-old history of old Hankou. Every building is a living cultural relic that bears witness to history. It exudes a unique charm that makes people linger and think far away.
If you have time, you can go for a walk. It's a very short street. It was originally rented and there are some old buildings inside.
Most people who come to Wuhan will go to the prosperous Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street. The bustling crowds are enough to witness the prosperity of this city, but few people will come to Lihuangpi Road to look for the past and history of this city. The buildings on Lihuangpi Road are all left over from the modern Republic of China and the Anti-Japanese War period. There are many stories hidden behind each building. The years have left memories with traces. Now it has become a literary restaurant and cafe, continuing the value of historical old buildings in another way. Here is the market, here is peaceful, and here is the authentic old Wuhan. In 1862, the Tianjin Treaty was signed during the Opium War. Hankou was forced to open its port and foreign powers entered the city. This area was designated as a concession. Foreign consulates, financial institutions and countless foreign companies made it known as the Chicago of the East. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the government repaired and protected it, and we can see today's Lihuangpi Road. As for the origin of the road name, Li Yuanhong, the two presidents of the Republic of China, was from Huangpi, so the road name was changed to Lihuangpi Road. Many people don't know that Lanling Road, which is separated from Lihuangpi Road by one street, has the flavor of old Wuhan. There are many restaurants and snack bars lined up, one next to the other. Although there is not a very good environment, it is original and authentic. Many Wuhan flavors that cannot be tasted in other places may be found here...
Yanjiang Avenue runs from Lihuangpi Road to Zhongshan Avenue, and there are many buildings from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China on the surrounding roads, all of which have strong Western characteristics and are of historical significance. However, only a few of them, such as the former residence of Soong Ching Ling, can be visited, and the rest are used for other purposes and can only be viewed from the outside, and the content of the building signs is not rich. There are many cafes on Lihuangpi Road, and the small houses surrounded by red bricks, green vines and flowers are quite interesting.
Several streets are a combination of old European-style buildings and modern buildings. The scenery is not good, and the random parking and wires everywhere make people feel very messy, but it is still worth a visit.
The local bars and cafes are very unique. It's just that the current theme overshadows the past. Sometimes you can't reflect it all at once if you are not well prepared. The gap between the past and the present is too big.
This place is probably more meaningful for those who like historical buildings. Take a look at the various buildings~
This place is very nice, I like it very much, but it is under renovation. It is very unique and you can go there if you have the chance. Hankou River Beach is just opposite, you can go there together.
Walking aimlessly on the street, you can always find some European-style buildings.
This is an old building from the Renaissance period, and one of the earliest multi-storey apartments in Wuhan. However, tourists are not allowed to visit it at will.
On Lihuangpi Road, European-style buildings are more concentrated, and there are many small fresh cafes suitable for taking photos. But what's interesting is that clothes are still hung outside the windows on Lihuangpi Road, which seems a bit out of place, but it is still another unique scenery.
Christian churches, small restaurants, coffee shops... After the government's "renovation", Lihuangpi Road looks more fashionable and elegant. No wonder many newlyweds come here to take wedding photos.
