Enhe Russian Ethnic Township

Here you can feel the folk customs of ethnic minorities and experience the unique and profound national culture of the Russian people.
Russian ethnic buildings can be seen everywhere - wooden logs. This kind of building is made of logs. When building, it is mainly carved with wood and hand axes. It has corners and is very standardized and neat.

We arrived at the Shiwei Russian Ethnic Township in the afternoon. In fact, I hesitated again and again whether to live in Shiwei or Linjiangtun or Enhe. Later, I saw some bees saying that Shiwei's construction and living conditions were better. Since I came with my parents, I decided to choose a place with better conditions. Since there are so many Russians here, a Russian ethnic township was built. You can see obvious differences in regional ethnic characteristics among many people in the town. In addition, the geographical location here is next to the Ergun River, which attracts many tourists to come here.

Hulunbuir Prairie

There is a destination full of ethnic customs

That is Enhe Russian National Township

Enhe means "peace" in Mongolian

This town has a variety of cute wooden houses, including tree houses and castles.

Compared with the commercialization of Shiwei, this place seems more simple

In the evening, the streets of Enhe Town were crowded with people. The horse farm, tricycles, and cars were all crowded together, so we naturally wanted to join in the fun. It had been a long time since we saw so many people, so it was inevitable that we felt a little embarrassed. So we randomly found an alley to go into and enjoy the free wind for a while.

Leaving the main road, we saw the quietness of this small town!

There are mostly B&Bs and restaurants here, and there are very few aboriginal residents. It is said that this place is almost a deserted city in winter, and people only come here to do business for one season. How can this life sound so great!

By ゴドメス |

It's not very big. Locals only come here to do tourism business in summer. There won't be many people at other times. You can take a horse-drawn carriage to tour the town.

In addition, wooden cabins are typical Russian dwellings, which can be seen everywhere in Enhe. The sound insulation of this kind of cabin is really poor, and staying there for one night is enough to experience it.

Enhe is located in the border area west of the northern foot of the Greater Khingan Range and east of the Ergun River. It is a border town under the jurisdiction of Ergun City, Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is one of the only two Russian ethnic townships in China. It faces Russia across the Ergun River, and the border is 75 kilometers long. The township has a population of 2,380, of which 1,329 are Russians and Russian descendants, accounting for about 56% of the total population. The architecture is mainly in Russian style. The production and living customs of the residents always maintain the original Russian folk customs. They live in Russian-style log cabins and stick to the Russian eating habits and festival seasons. There are 1.2 million acres of virgin forests and 400,000 acres of grasslands in the territory, with a forest and grass coverage rate of more than 80%. It is an ideal place for people to relax and vacation (summer vacation), and it has now become a popular tourist area in Hulunbuir City.

To be honest, I had seen many photos of Enhe and was attracted by this quiet little village. But when you arrived, you could buy local specialties everywhere, rent bicycles everywhere, and see colorful billboards everywhere. I was so disappointed that I couldn't express it in words. Fortunately, the B&B we stayed in saved a little bit of the score, otherwise I really didn't like it very much. It was too commercial. This B&B is awesome, and my kids and I love it.

Enhe Village is built in a valley between mountains. The Derbul River, a tributary of the Ergun River, flows quietly through the north of the village, winding and forming a large wetland. The rolling hills and grasslands beside the river are gentle and covered with fresh green grass. Cows, sheep and horses roam freely among them. The spires of Russian-style houses appear and disappear in the birch forest. The village now has a population of more than a thousand people, most of whom are third or fourth generation Russian descendants.

Enhe is located between Shiwei and Ergun City, connected by a two-way four-lane first-class highway, with extremely convenient transportation. It is a small town with a more Russian feel than Shiwei. There are many Chinese-Russian mixed-race people in the town, but they speak Northeastern dialect. The construction is not as modern as Shiwei, and it still retains its simple side. It is also a destination for many tourists. If you have time, it is worth staying overnight to slowly savor it.

Enhe Township and Shiwei Town are the two major destinations on the northern route of Hulunbuir. They have relatively complete supporting facilities and you can also experience the Russian-style wooden rooms with ethnic characteristics (we stayed in Russian Love Villa for 320 per night). I personally feel that Enhe is more intimate and the surrounding scenery is more natural.

Another big factor that adds points to Enhe is the good weather after the rain. Everything under the blue sky and white clouds looks lively, and even a small swamp can take us half a day to shoot. Another important reason for liking Enhe is, I think, because of the flowers, the endless sea of flowers all over the mountains.

In Enhe, you can ride a bicycle during the day, stroll around the night market or even watch performances at night, but don't forget to see the nearby sea of flowers. On the way from Qika, you can see that the wild flowers on the roadside are blooming more and more unscrupulously. The driver Xiao Zhang also took us to a hilltop with a birch forest to see the flowers on the second day. What I want to recommend to you is my own exclusive experience - Wolong Mountain.

Wolong Mountain is also called Yidao Mountain. It is located in the north of Enhe Township. Not far after the Enhe Bridge, you can see a mountain over 100 meters high in front of you. There is a small path to the mountain near the road sign. As long as the shoes are suitable, it is easy to reach the top. There are sacrificial supplies for local Orthodox Christians at the "dragon head" on the top of the mountain. Stroll along the road trampled by locals and crushed by off-road vehicles. There are colorful flowers on both sides. Looking south, Enhe Township is spread out in front of you, and you can see it all at a glance. Except for the annoying mosquitoes (the insects in Hulunbuir are famous for being annoying), it is so beautiful to see all this under the blue sky in the early morning...

Enhe Russian Ethnic Township, one of the most beautiful villages in China!

By Traveling in China |

Enhe, located on the Sino-Russian border east of the Ergun River and west of the Greater Khingan Range, is separated from Russia by a river. As the only Russian ethnic township in my country, most of the Russian culture and living customs are still well preserved here, so you can experience the exotic customs without leaving the country.

Shiwei Russian National Township has a national first-class port and the first permanent bridge between China and Russia, the Friendship Bridge, with an annual cargo volume of 20,000 tons. Shiwei Russian National Township has beautiful natural scenery, unique cultural customs, and unique tourist resources all year round. It is a good place for photography, tourism, and collecting folk songs.

By Candied Haws Girl |

I didn't go in, but from a distance, it was really beautiful, a fairy tale world.

By Happy Little Cat |

The people here decorate their homes very warmly, with details on windows and eaves that are very Russian-style. With brightly colored paintings and some beautiful potted plants, it's like falling into a fairytale dream house.

Shiwei Russian ethnic town, here has a more Russian flavor, the salespersons in the store all look like Russians, it is said that they are 4-5 generations of Russian descendants, the bloodline is so strong, the houses in the whole town are all wooden houses, the only drawback is that it is too commercialized here ~ the local culture is less ~

By Vivi has a heart for travel |

As the sky gradually darkens, the whole town of Shiwei is lit up. Most people here are Russians! They all live in characteristic Russian corrugated houses! The town has rows of neatly arranged corrugated houses, with a main commercial street in the middle. You must get up early in the morning, because the border of Shiwei Town is a long viewing corridor. In the morning when the fog has not completely dissipated, feel the hazy beauty of Wumeng Shiwei!

By Frog |

It's so commercialized, it totally violates the title of China's top ten small towns. So disappointed, you guys should go to Linjiangtun, I originally planned to go to Linjiang, but I made an appointment with someone to share a car the next day, so I didn't want to go to Linjiang anymore.

By Andrew Sheep |

The Russian National Township is in Shiwei Town, Ergun City, Hulunbuir City. It is only about 1.5 kilometers away from the Sino-Russian Friendship Bridge. If you want to go to the Friendship Bridge, you will have to pay a 20 yuan ticket, but there are soldiers guarding the bridge next to it. [Tour Experience] Although Shiwei Town is not big and is only separated from Russia by a river, you can really see and feel the Russian culture here, taste Russian food, and the houses are all in Russian style. The houses here are all made of pure wood, which I like very much. You can also experience horseback riding on the grassland here, galloping on the grassland, which is very pleasant. The development here is now more commercial, so the facilities for food and accommodation are very complete and perfect when you come here to travel. [Highlights] This is known as one of the top ten charming towns. The town is very quiet and worth visiting.

But the commercialization here is too high, housing, food, riding are very expensive, be prepared before coming

By yellow |

More and more tourists are coming here, and now the commercial atmosphere is stronger. There are small hotels everywhere, and there is a shopping mall under construction. You may even run into someone soliciting business and asking if you want to ride a horse...

By Xiaojin's Daydream |

Soon after crossing the Greater Khingan Range, we saw buildings in the style of Russians. That was Shiwei! Shiwei is a must-go stop for all Hulunbuir loops. It is separated from Russia by a river. The Ergun River divides it into two parts, belonging to the two countries respectively! Since it was still early, I strolled around the town leisurely. The town was inevitably overly commercialized due to the large number of tourists, which I didn’t like very much. However, I found inexpensive milk slices and beef jerky in the dazzling array of shops, completing the task assigned by my mother, which was the biggest gain in Shiwei!

By wowo🍀 |

Shiwei is truly a great tourist attraction. The main street is brightly lit at night, and you can see the Russian village across the Ergun River.

By giant |

Although it has become very commercialized, it is still a good experience to see Russian friends on the other side of the Ergun River.

By There is a silent sea in my heart |

Accommodation transfer station, the whole town is not big, basically there are accommodation and beef and mutton barbecue, at night there is smoke from the barbecue stalls. It is separated from Russia by a river, and the innermost is a border scenic spot.

By Let go |

Shiwei, a small village on the northern border, has a port that is only a checkpoint to prevent the flow of people. It does not involve trade. Most of the Russian goods sold locally are shipped from Manchuria. However, this small village has its own characteristics, quiet and slow pace. It is still good to walk and wander here alone. However, the entire village of Shiwei is vigorously developing tourism. Each family is building an inn, and the public riverside square and plank road have also been built. The unknown small village in Russia opposite is still quiet, with green smoke curling up, without a trace of restlessness. Every night in the square, there is a bonfire party, Mongolian and Russian dance performances, and group dance parties, which are very lively.

By zhm_jinan |

I feel the natural scenery is just so-so, and the features are not particularly outstanding.

By Jane's Breadfruit Tree |

The other side of the border river in Shiwei is Russia. Comparing the buildings on both sides, the motherland is better. I stayed in Shiwei at night and felt that the commercial atmosphere was too strong. I didn't like this overdeveloped town very much.

There is a wetland when you are almost to Shiwei Town, you can see it from the car and drive in. Shiwei Town is a bit commercialized, and the street is very noisy at night. It is recommended to stay in a B&B in the alley next to it, which is quiet and unique.

By Spring and Autumn |

Shiwei, a town where many Russians used to live, was attractive because there were many foreigners who spoke Chinese. However, when I went shopping the next morning, I didn't see any Russians. Instead, most of them were people from Northeast China doing business. However, Shiwei is still very attractive. There was a fireworks show and a Russian circus performance in the evening. I saw it. The performances were performed by Russians.

One of the top ten charming towns in China [Shuiwei Russian National Township], Shuiwei is a gathering place for the descendants of Chinese and Russians. It has gradually formed due to some historical changes and development. It is across the river from the Russian village of Olochi, and all activities on the other side can be seen. Shuiwei Town seems like a paradise isolated from the world. Shuiwei Town has also been rated as one of the "Top Ten Charming Towns". The simple folk customs and the original natural scenery will make you forget the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a great place for leisure and vacation. Shuiwei is also one of the best places to watch the sunrise. Tourists who love photography can take pictures of the sunrise in the early morning. Tourists can freely visit the traditional Russian folk houses [carved woodcut houses], allowing you to feel the strong exotic Russian folk customs and let you truly integrate into the Russian folk customs. After dinner, check in to a Russian family in Shuiwei.

Shiwei is a quiet town with lovely wooden houses everywhere. You can choose to stay in them at night. This graduation trip with my bestie was accustomed to the small bridges and flowing water in southern cities, so we chose to see a different grassland. Living in a yurt, watching reindeer, living in a cabin, and eating hand-held meat is a real grassland trip. Eating authentic Russian Western food in Manchuria is both economical and delicious. We decided to play here for two days and saw the solemn national gate and the matryoshka square full of girlish hearts. During this period, we seemed to have entered a paradise. Some small towns we passed by even had no signal for several hours. We would not be disturbed by the outside world, and we could really enjoy life and the journey would not be too busy. Our itinerary was discussed with the master, and he would tell us in advance where we were going, and we would choose the destinations we were interested in. ps Friendly reminder: 1. It may be a bit cold on the grassland in the morning and evening, so you should bring a thin jacket with you. 2. If the friends who pass through have a bad stomach, you should prepare some common medicines in advance. 3. Seeing some people littering, I want to appeal here that a good environment and beautiful scenery depend on everyone's joint care. That’s about it. In the future, when I’m stressed out at work or need to relax, I’ll come to see the grassland again!

I was deeply impressed by Shiwei. It is the border between Northeast China and Russia. A boundary river runs through it. It is particularly beautiful in autumn.

There are wooden cabins everywhere in Shiwei, and there is a pleasant smell of pine oil. When you come here, you must have a Russian meal, mashed potatoes, red soup, grilled sausages and bread, fresh vegetables, it feels so warm to eat these in cold weather:)

There are beautiful larch and birch forests everywhere around Shiwei, which turn golden in autumn. It is so beautiful.

A very commercial border town, it looks like a tourist attraction, with restaurants and hotels everywhere. I didn't buy a ticket to enter the checkpoint here because I had already been to the border. I walked along the pedestrian street at the end to see the scenery on the other side. Many small shops sell bread and Russian products. I bought freshly baked bread in a small shop, which was super delicious. I went there in October, and many places were closed. Some stores were selling things at low prices.

Shiwei is probably one of the most boring places in Hulunbuir. From a distance, it looks like a castle, but from a closer look, it looks like a painted tiger or a dog. Shiwei Russian National Township is the birthplace of the Mongolian people, and the local residents are basically descendants of the Russian people. By Rowing fish |

We just passed by Shiwei, where commercialization is still very strong. Most tourist groups stop and check in here, but we chose the quieter Linjiangtun.

By Gobi |

Shiwei is the only Russian ethnic township in my country. It is a gathering place for the Russian ethnic group and the descendants of Chinese Russians. It is very large and is located in the northwest of Hulunbuir. It is surrounded by mountains and is only separated from Russia by a river. People here live in typical Russian wooden houses called "wooden carved houses". Most of the Russian culture and living customs are still well preserved here. As soon as we entered the village, we were attracted by the Russian-style wooden houses in the village. Walking in the village was like entering a foreign land.

Enhe is highly commercialized, and almost the entire village is engaged in the tourism reception industry. The price of accommodation here varies greatly. We stayed in the Russian-style "Mukeleng", a standard room for 240 yuan, the room was very clean, and the biggest disadvantage of "Mukeleng" is poor sound insulation. If there is a little noise on one side, the neighbor can hear it clearly.

The nights in Enhe are quite lively. The streets of the village are bustling with people buying local specialties, peddling Russian souvenirs, and running restaurants, and the shouts of people are heard one after another.

The Russian western food here is very distinctive, and it feels better and more affordable than the one in Hailar Lubqi Western Restaurant. We had dinner at Zoya Russian Tourism House, which is a family restaurant with limited size and can only accommodate four tables of guests. It is said that the chef cooks good Russian food, and the reviews given by travelers on Dianping are good. When we ordered the meal, we learned from the lessons of Hailar. We didn't want the kebabs, and the canned beef was replaced with potato strips and beef patties. The staple food was garlic leba slices, meat-stuffed bulin cakes, and tiramisu. In addition, we ordered a Russian smoked meat platter and fried Huazi fish. We only ordered one serving of borscht, and the drink was still kvass. Facts have proved that such adjustments are necessary. After a meal, everyone is quite satisfied, and the price is also very affordable. Our group of ten people spent just over 500 yuan.

By see the way |

By elegant |

It's a small town with very Russian characteristics, with many places to stay, beautiful scenery and convenient dining.

By Sanjiang Idle People |

I don't recommend going there. The commercial atmosphere here is too strong, the trend towards urbanization is getting stronger and stronger, and the local characteristics have been lost.

By Singing while walking |

The ticket to the Shiwei scenic area is 20 yuan to take a look at the Friendship Bridge. The other side of the bridge is Russia, and walking on the bridge is generally not allowed. We met a group of people who knew the relevant leaders. With the soldiers sending each other off, they proudly crossed the bridge. It was really an era of relationships! For 75 yuan, you can take a boat ride along the border river. You can see the Russian flag flying on the other side of the river. I don’t know if it’s because of my patriotic enthusiasm, but I always feel that the grass in Russia is not as lush as ours in China. ╭(╯ε╰)╮In addition, taking pictures is prohibited in some areas. A child took a photo with his mobile phone and was detained and questioned by the border guards. At noon, I had dinner at a restaurant in Shiwei. The menu did not have prices. I found out later that a plate of fried eggs with leeks was 60 yuan, a plate of cold wild vegetables was 50 yuan, a plate of dumplings, and four bowls of Korean noodles, a total of more than 200 yuan. It seems that I was cheated, right?

By Top丨Entertainment Team |

We had lunch in Shiwei, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. They were all authentic home-cooked dishes, and the portions were generous. Shiwei Sino-Russian Mongolian Yuan Shiwei Square, where you can see the Russian village from a closer distance. When I came here, I was always curious why the houses here are all small wooden houses. I finally found out that it was because the earth's crust here is prone to cracking, and wooden houses can resist earthquakes. You can see the Russian village across the river! In the distance of Shiwei's sight, the dark place is the Russian village, and it looks like life must be very hard.

It takes more than 3 hours to reach Shiwei from Ergun. The wooden houses are the characteristics of this place. You may want to experience them when you come. In the evening, you can go to Linjiang to watch the sunset.
