Morgele River

The Morgele River, also known as the Morigele River, is known as the "No. 1 Curved Water in the World". It is formed by the confluence of springs, winding thousands of times, like a soft silk ribbon falling on the grassland, and is a great wonder on the Hulunbuir grassland.
The Morgele River is a very narrow but extremely winding river. Looking down from the air, the river meanders like a blue ribbon, sometimes going east, sometimes west, sometimes south, and sometimes north. Its curvature can be described as nine bends and eighteen turns.
The Morgele River is not very wide. If it is not the flood season, the widest part is only five or six meters. The river water is formed by the confluence of springs, and the areas it passes through are mostly uninhabited mountains and grasslands, so the river water is very clean and is a completely unpolluted water source.

Morigele has two meanings in Mongolian. One means "winding and twisting", and the other means "butting heads". Because the river is very curved and the distance between the river bends is very close, it is like two bulls butting heads.

When the nationally renowned writer Lao She visited this river in the early 1960s, he was amazed by the beautiful winding river and exclaimed, "This is the most winding river in the world."

In May, the ice and snow on the Hulunbuir grassland melted, and spring was in full swing. Herds of cattle and sheep were scattered along the Morigele River. Standing on the north bank of the Morigele River and overlooking the river, you will discover the magic of nature. How can this calm river water play wildly in the heart of the grassland? Only nature can have such a magnificent handwriting.

By Return to the original intention |

The Morigele River is narrow but winding. Seen from a high vantage point, it looks like a green ribbon dancing in the wind. On the vast Hulunbuir grassland, it meanders crisscross and stretches to the east, west, south and north. However, although it is very curved, it is not messy at all, and the charm of its twists and turns is once again reflected.

Sitting on the grass, looking at the winding Morgele River in the distance, the white sheep, the yurts, the blue sky, the cotton candy-like clouds, the gentle breeze, and the indescribable nourishment, I felt really relaxed at that moment. In the fusion of man and nature, it seemed as if all the troubles were flowing away with the winding river, and my thoughts seemed clear.

We arrived at Hulunbuir Prairie, passed the Golden Horde and crossed the Morigele River. The Morigele River is very famous and is said to be 180,000 miles long. The driver drove us across the river, and the car was splashed with water. It was a very passionate feeling. After crossing the river, we got off to take pictures. The surprise was that when we crossed the river, a fish was crushed into the car. Seeing that the fish was too small and not enough to eat, I released it and put it back into the Morigele River. We rushed to the next cliff and passed the Morigele River, an ancient river, the mother river.

The southern route of the Morgele River has started to charge fees. We took the northern route, with white clouds, a breeze, and yellow grass.

Cows and sheep can be seen grazing everywhere, and there are fences

The Morgele River, known as "the most winding river in the world", is a tributary of the Hailar River, the upper reaches of the Heilongjiang River. Its previous name "Morigele River" may be more well-known.

Due to the excessive popularity of Hulunbuir tourism in 2023, starting from the end of July, reservations must be made on the "Morgele River Scenic Area" official account to visit the Morgele River. Reservations can only be made for three days: the same day, the next day, and the day after. It is also difficult to book tickets in the morning. The peak season is really tight, so we could only make a reservation at 11:30 noon.

Take S201, there will be a 2-3 km traffic jam near the turn to the scenic area. It is recommended to start early, or you can go in the "reverse way". The whole scenic area is free. If you go in the forward direction, the first half is mainly the viewing platform. You can choose different viewing platforms to watch from different angles. If you have a drone, the angle will be better. In the second half, you can find a suitable place to park the car at the road sign and get close to the grassland and cattle and sheep. It is very playable and it is recommended to set aside 2-3 hours for fun.

Come to the grassland where you can roam freely, and every frame and scene is poetic and picturesque; come to the grassland where you can roam freely, give your body to the green grass, your soul to the blue sky and white clouds, enjoy the breath of freedom, and feel the rhythm of life.

The Morgele River is a winding river that nourishes the entire grassland of Chenbarhu Banner. Where the river flows, the banks are covered with low shrubs and can be recognized from a distance.

By Mud Sauce |

The Morigele River is described by Lao She as "the most winding river in the world".

This river is a free attraction. You only need an experienced chartered driver to take you to several viewing platforms at high points along the way to enjoy it.

Since this was the last day of our Inner Mongolia trip, we had already seen similar attractions. I can imagine that if tourists who were traveling in the opposite direction of ours were to visit the Morigele River as their first attraction after departing from Hailar, they would definitely be amazed.

After watching the sunset by the river, I wasn’t really impressed by the area I visited. I was even a little disappointed at the time… But I watched the cows grazing for a long time… It was also quite fun (maybe my location was wrong, I believe a good location should be beautiful)

The landscape of the Morigele River is a typical vast grassland, except that the grass is not so lush and tall that "cows and sheep can be seen when the wind blows the grass low". As far as the eye can see, apart from the winding "world's first curved water", there is only grass, no wild flowers, no trees, and very few horses, cows and sheep. The most ideal activity on such a super large lawn is of course flying a kite, and it is basically easy to fly it with just a throw.

By ゴドメス |

The best winding water in the world described by Lao She would be extremely beautiful against the backdrop of blue sky and white clouds.

By Beautiful scenery, but the weather is bad |

The Morigele River is very beautiful, and the grassland is set against the blue sky and white clouds. It is worth seeing

By 💤Dongdonglongdongqiang👻 |

I came at the wrong time. The grassland in late April and early May was really barren. Not to mention the cattle and sheep, the grass heads were not even visible, and there were many black marks left by the burning. I suggest you make a plan before coming and choose the most suitable season to go.

By Traveling in China |

It is a winding river in Chenbarhu Banner. It is like a hovering jade dragon on the grassland, showing its charming figure on the grassland every day. The areas it passes through are mostly uninhabited mountains and grasslands, so the river water is very clean and is a completely unpolluted water source. Its soul is crystal clear and holy.

The Morigele River, described by Lao She as "the most winding river in the world", flows through the Golden Horde Scenic Area. Only a small part of it can be seen here. It was not until you stand on the hillside and look down that you realize how winding it is!

We were going to take a taxi from Hailar Railway Station to the Golden Horde, and we happened to meet a taxi driver soliciting customers. He took us there for 150 yuan and introduced us to many local scenery. It turned out that going out with this handsome guy was a very good decision!

He took us to a grassland behind the Golden Horde. Facing the endless grassland without any tourists disturbing us, it was truly pristine.

Dark clouds press down on the city, threatening to destroy it, while a gentle breeze approaches Yishui River.

I listened to the thunder from the distant land, looked at the somewhat euphemistic Morgele River beside me, and suspected that the driver had taken me to the wrong place. There are many places with winding rivers, but Mr. Lao She said that Morgele's is the best winding river in the world, and I believe it. Before coming here, I also heard many legends about Hulunbuir, those exotic names, Erguna, Mordaoga, saying that it is the real prairie, the distant place where cattle and sheep can be seen when the wind blows the grass. I also believe it.

It's a pity that I encountered Hulunbuir on a cloudy day and a prairie with heavy rain. It was wet and far away. Fortunately, the fragrant roasted lamb legs and the wooden house full of flowers in Erguna soothed my somewhat lost heart. Inner Mongolia is a magical place, but Hulunbuir does not strictly belong to my impression of Mongolia. Yakeshi, not far away, is the coldest place in China. The scenery in front of me transitions from the vast grassland to the vast forest, and the feeling in my heart also transitions from the Buddhist to the forest. It seems that this is the entrance to Siberia.

When we were almost back, a ray of sunshine appeared in the sky, allowing me to truly see Hulunbuir as it should be.

The most difficult spot to visit during the entire trip, I recommend driving an SUV. This may also be the most scenic spot, I didn't want to leave after staying there for more than two hours. The grass started to turn yellow at the end of August, I might come again in the summer. Here are some un-Photoshopped photos, it will be more beautiful when you see it in person!

The Morigele River is not far from the city, and locals will drive here for picnics and sightseeing when they have time. Stand on the commanding heights to take a panoramic photo, looking at the winding river, the cattle and sheep everywhere, and the herds of horses nodding their heads... "Crossing" has become popular recently, which means taking a car across the Morigele River... I personally don't recommend it, as it will damage the grassland ecology.

The road gave me a sense of being in a movie. When I was watching Mojin: The Lost Tomb, I was shocked by the dusk in Inner Mongolia. I like this kind of natural scenery.

The Morgele River is very beautiful in summer and autumn. Standing on the top of the mountain and looking at it, you will have a feeling of wanting to embrace nature. In winter, it is completely frozen at this time, and you can only vaguely see its outline. On the way there, you will have a sense of déjà vu of a movie scene. When I was watching Mojin: The Lost Tomb, I was shocked by the dusk of Inner Mongolia. I like this kind of natural scenery.

The Morigele River, like a white ribbon, seems to be telling the tranquility of the grassland for thousands of years. We can see all its twists and turns. The herds of horses are like stars, which must be the audience that nature has invited to listen to the story of the past.

By Highlights |

The river winds along the vast grassland. The water is a little turbid, but this turbidity is natural. The weather is too hot, and the sheep, cattle and horses on the grassland hide in the river to cool off. From a distance, there is a blue sky, white and transparent clouds, a grassland like a palette, a quietly flowing river and groups of cattle and horses. At this moment, all we can do is put down everything in our hands and quietly feel this rare paradise.

The winding river in Chenbarhu Banner is like a jade dragon hovering over the boundless grassland, flowing freely and gracefully. The commanding height deep in the grassland, it can be said that the curved Moergele River is the best spot for photography. Standing on the high hill, you can see far, far away, with grass, cattle and sheep in the distance. In an instant, your soul seems to have been emptied, drifting away with the winding Morgele River and drifting towards the sky. Standing here seems to give people a sense of infinite tranquility, and perhaps you want to stay here.

There are 99 big bends and 990 small bends. The river flows from southeast to northwest. Xiaohai gave us some popular science. The Chinese translation of Morgele River is "Meeting River", which means that if you walk along the river bank for a while, you will find that you are back to the original position. This is because the river is very curved. The total length of this river is more than 200 kilometers. If it is straightened, it will be more than 1,000 kilometers. It is amazing~~~ [Five-star rating] I have to say that the commanding height is to drive directly up, which feels like a rapids. Looking at the Morgele River, she is like a graceful and beautiful girl, flowing on the Barhu grassland for thousands of years, moistening the land and intoxicating our hearts.

It turns out that it means to choose a shallow river channel to "cross" the river and feel the excitement of rushing through the rapids. The brother (Zhang Peng wechat & phone I5O 4BO 5ЗI5B) is very familiar with the water level and the performance of the car. He drove us across the river, which was really exciting!

The "first winding river in the world" described by Lao She is very narrow but extremely curved. We saw herdsmen riding horses, a large group of horses running from one end to the other and then rushing into the river. The photographers gathered around and began to follow with their cameras. It is said that the fourth Chenbarhu Banner "Ten Thousand Horses Galloping" Horse Culture Festival was held here in July this year. At that time, more than a dozen horse groups and thousands of horses gathered on the beautiful Morigele River. The scene was grand.

After waiting for another half an hour, the sky finally got completely dark, and the boundless grassland seemed to be covered with a piece of black cloth. Wow, really, the sky seemed to be pressed by someone. In an instant, the stars showed their shapes and blinked at me happily. Above my head, there are many, many stars clustered together to form a very long band of light. It is very beautiful. The world's most winding river, the "Morigele River". The master told us that this was the filming site of the second season of "Where Are We Going, Dad?" in 2014. Looking down from the air, the river is winding, like a blue ribbon dancing in the wind, leisurely floating on the green and flat grassland, sometimes going east, sometimes going west, sometimes running south, and sometimes going north. Its curvature is so high that it is far from enough to describe it as winding.

The most beautiful place along the Morgele River is the grassland area in the middle and lower reaches. With blue sky and white clouds, green mountains and clear water, blooming flowers and green grass, the Morgele River twists and turns countless times on the boundless grassland, nourishing the beautiful pastures like a beautiful landscape painting; and the Mongolian yurts with smoke floating by the river and the swimming cattle, horses and sheep add infinite vitality to the picture.

The Morigele River is not only the filming location of the movie "Mojin: The Lost Tomb", but also a must-see scenery on the Inner Mongolia prairie. The long river runs through the prairie, bringing colorful life to the prairie like an ink painting.

If you don't see it with your own eyes, you won't be shocked by the beauty in front of you. Nature's masterpiece is so magnificent and colorful, and the land of Inner Mongolia is the most prominent one in nature's writing.

The mountains are rising and the horses are galloping, and the yurts scattered on the grassland also paint a different color for the scenery.

In fact, the Morigele River is a very narrow river. It is only about five or six meters wide, and in many places it may even be considered a stream. But it irrigates many places. It takes about an hour to get here from Hailar. Many farmers raise horses here, or have go-kart activities, but I always think that I came here with a group, and I feel that the tour guide will take a lot of kickbacks. So I didn't experience any projects here. So, looking at the cattle and sheep in the distance, I ran over and took pictures with them. Later, I posted it on WeChat Moments, and everyone thought that the pictures I posted were all fake, so it is indeed a place worth coming to appreciate quietly.

Our destination was to stay in Genhe via Ergun, but we did not want to take the ordinary road. We wanted to cross the grassland along the Morigele River. The Morigele River originates from the western foot of the Greater Khingan Range, flows from northeast to southwest, passes through the famous Hulunbuir grassland, flows into Huhe Nuoer Lake, and then flows out to join the Hailar River. It is more than 290 kilometers long and belongs to the Ergun River system, which is the boundary river between China and Russia. The river channel of the Morigele River is very narrow, but because the grassland is extremely flat, the water flows freely on the grassland, and the river channel is extremely curved. Looking down from the nearby hillside, the winding river is like a blue ribbon dancing in the strong wind, leisurely floating on the flat and boundless prairie. If I have to use one word to summarize the grassland, it should be freedom. In Hulunbuir, you feel that everything is free. The wind is cool and free, the clouds in the sky float freely, the rivers flow freely on the grassland, and the sheep roam freely and eat grass on the grassland, making you feel very free.

Looking at the winding Mozhgrad River on the highest hillside, well, at this moment, I only remember the sound of the wind.

We were the only ones in the area of dozens of kilometers. It was so empty that it felt like we were on another planet.
