Zhaojun Museum

The Zhaojun Museum is located on the south bank of the Dahei River, about 9 kilometers south of Hohhot City. It consists of the Zhaojun Tomb and a series of memorial buildings and facilities. Wang Zhaojun, whose name was Qiang and whose courtesy name was Zhaojun, was a native of Zigui, Nanjun (now Xingshan County, Hubei Province) during the Western Han Dynasty. She was one of the four great beauties in ancient China. In 37 BC, Wang Zhaojun was selected into the harem and served as a concubine of Emperor Yuan of the Han Dynasty. In 33 BC, when the people of the Han and Xiongnu peoples were eager for national peace, Wang Zhaojun voluntarily asked to marry the Xiongnu and became the wife of the Chanyu, which helped the two peoples to maintain peace for nearly half a century. The economy and culture in the Xiongnu developed, and Wang Zhaojun was loved by people of all ethnic groups. In Chinese history, Wang Zhaojun was a great woman who devoted herself to the cause of friendship between the Chinese nation. Among the common people, Zhaojun was the embodiment of beauty. For two thousand years, her legends and stories have been widely circulated among the Chinese people and are well-known to everyone. Since the Tang and Song dynasties, numerous poems, lyrics, paintings and operas have been written by literati of every generation to sing the praises of Zhaojun and express their emotions, forming the "Zhaojun culture" that has been passed down through the ages.
Zhaojun's Tomb is called Temur Wuerhu in Mongolian, which means "iron fortress"; it is also called Qingzhong in the literature. "Qingzhong Yongdai" is one of the eight major scenic spots in Hohhot, and it has been clearly recorded since the Tang Dynasty. According to research, it was built by artificial accumulation and tamping in the Han Dynasty. It is more than 30 meters high, with a bottom area of about 13,000 square meters and an area of about 1.3 hectares. It is one of the largest Han tombs in China, a national key cultural relic protection unit, and a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Zhaojun Museum, built on the tomb of Wang Zhaojun, is the second largest museum in Hohhot after the Inner Mongolia Museum. It contains a brief biography of Wang Zhaojun and an introduction to the Xiongnu. It is recommended to visit for at least 2 hours.

By King Bang Bang |

The venue is magnificent and the architectural style is also very distinctive. However, there are not many valuable cultural relics in the entire exhibition hall. There are a lot of texts, pictures and imitations, which are a bit thin compared to that heavy history. But after all, it is an AAAA-level scenic spot in Hohhot City, so you can visit it if you have nothing to do.

It is a check-in spot. I think it is just so-so. It is a bit far from the city. It is under maintenance recently. Some of the museums are closed. It mainly explains the history of marriage. It is a "pity to abandon, but tasteless" attraction. It took more than an hour to visit.

By Hal Jun |

It is about 15 kilometers from the city center and is worth a visit.

1 The original ticket price is 65 yuan. It is currently under construction and many areas are not accessible. The ticket price is set at 30 yuan.

2 It can be used as a window to understand the history of Hohhot, with the story of Concubine Zhaojun going to the frontier as the background.

3 There is the Palace of Marriages between Emperors, which mainly introduces the outlines of marriages between Emperors throughout the ages.

It is one of the few famous historical sites in Hohhot. There was a notice at the door saying that the ticket price was 65 yuan, but the interior was under maintenance, so many museums were closed and only 30 yuan was required. It was not very popular, but there were some tour groups and individual tourists. It was actually just a small hill with some modern man-made inscriptions and statues. There were some museums on both sides of the sacred road, such as the Chanyu Tent and the Heqin Museum, etc. Anyway, you can learn a lot about the history of ethnic minorities and the history of Heqin. The architectural style was a complete copy of the former residence of Zhaojun in Zigui (Xingshan County), Hubei.

The origin of the marriage culture and history, although most of it is under renovation, it is still worth a visit. Climb to the top of the mountain to see the tomb of Zhaojun, also known as the Qing Tomb, and have a panoramic view of Hohhot and the Zhaojun Museum.

The view after climbing up Xiaoqingshan Mountain is pretty good, and the scenic area has also arranged some performances and rest areas, but it is still a little far from the city, which is a bit useless for self-guided tourists.

The main purpose is to find a place for people to pay tribute. There aren't too many cultural relics left, but the few statues are pretty good.

The Tomb of Wang Zhaojun, also known as the "Green Tomb", is located on the south bank of the Dahei River, nine kilometers south of Hohhot. It is the tomb of Wang Zhaojun, the concubine of Han Ming, as recorded in historical records and folk legends. It was first built in the Western Han Dynasty before Christ, and has a history of more than 2,000 years. It is one of the largest Han tombs in China.

The Tomb of Zhaojun is a national 4A tourist attraction and a key cultural relic protection unit in the autonomous region. In August 2017, the expansion project of the cultural tourism area of the Tomb of Zhaojun was completed, and the area of the scenic area increased to 683.5 acres. There are many buses to the Tomb of Zhaojun, and the transportation is convenient.

It is not far from downtown Hohhot. The scenic area is not very large. The natural scenery is very nice. You can learn about the history of Zhaojun. The whole journey takes about 2 hours.

Wang Zhaojun, one of the four great beauties, went to the Xiongnu to marry Huhanye Chanyu for the sake of national interests. This piece of history is known to everyone, including women and children.

The Qing Tomb is located in the southern suburbs of Hohhot, and the ticket to Zhaojun's Tomb is 65 yuan.

To get to the tomb of Wang Zhaojun from the city, you need to pass a toll station. If you take a taxi, you need to pay an additional toll of 15 yuan per trip, and you need to pay 30 yuan for a round trip. You can take bus No. 209 from Dazhao to the tomb of Wang Zhaojun, which costs 5 yuan per person. The gate is under construction. Just go in through the gap in this inconspicuous blue baffle. When I walked to the Shanyu tent, I saw many people standing at the door. There was a sign next to it saying that you can watch the live performance of Wang Zhaojun for free with a ticket. Tickets? Where can I buy tickets? An enthusiastic classmate who looked like a junior high school student next to me said that during this period, tickets are free and you can watch the performance without tickets. There will be one show at 10:30 in the morning and one at 3:30 in the afternoon. Oh~~~, it will be 3:30 soon, just in time to take a break and watch the performance. The performance is about 1 hour long and is still worth watching.

I went there today, but it wasn't open yet. I made a wasted trip. I took bus No. 27 to Mongolian Customs Garden, and then walked there for 20 minutes.

By 67 |

I had seen that the reviews from other travelers were not very good, but since I was here, I decided to take a look. I took K3 and walked about 3 kilometers after exiting the highway. When I arrived at the gate, I was told that it was not open to the public due to renovations.

"Once I left the Purple Palace, I was connected to the desert, leaving only the green tomb facing the sunset." Wang Zhaojun went to the Xiongnu to marry Huhanye Chanyu for the sake of national interests. This history is well known to everyone. The green tomb is in the southern suburbs of Hohhot. From the north gate of the old city, you can take bus No. 209 to get off at Zhaojun Tomb, the fare is 5 yuan. You can also take K3 to Mongolian Customs Park, the fare is 1 yuan. Get off and walk about 1.5 kilometers. I really don't recommend the black car. It cost me 15 from Zhaojun Tomb to Mongolian Customs Park, but it only takes about 20 minutes to walk. The ticket for Zhaojun Tomb is 65 yuan, and the student ticket is 30 yuan.

In fact, there is only one hill, the ticket price is indeed a bit high, and the surrounding venues are uninteresting, but there seem to be singing and dancing performances from June to August.

It wasn't as good as I had imagined, but my mother insisted on coming. With great admiration for Zhaojun, she took some trouble to arrive at Zhaojun's tomb in the suburbs.

In addition to a mountain from which one can have a panoramic view of the scenic area, there is a Zhaojun Exhibition Hall on both sides of the road, as well as a National Art Performance Hall. There are three performances in the morning, which I missed, as they were all about playing musical instruments.

The tomb of Wang Zhaojun, the consort of the Han Dynasty, is recorded in historical records and folk legends. It is located on the south bank of the Dahei River, nine kilometers south of Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. It was built in the Western Han Dynasty before the Common Era and was built by ramming earth artificially in the Han Dynasty. The tomb is shaped like an inverted bucket, 33 meters high, with a bottom area of about 13,000 square meters. It has a long history of more than 2,000 years and is one of the largest Han tombs in China.

I always feel it's a pity not to come and see it. It has now become a Zhaojun Museum. I feel that most of the mausoleums are now built in this way. There is a performance at 3:30 pm in the Shanyu tent on the left, which tells the complete story of Zhaojun's departure for the frontier. The stage effect is beyond expectations and is great. If time permits, you can watch it all. When I left, it was already close to dusk, and the sentence always came to my mind: Only the green tomb is left facing the sunset

By Fish that dried the sea |

The reason I came to Hohhot was to visit the tomb of Concubine Zhaojun.

Zhaojun will live forever, and her idea of marriage between the Han and the Hu people was brilliant.

Poets expressed their resentment, but it was all in vain to write poetry.

Those who have history in their blood will understand the significance of this place. If you want to eat and drink and feast your eyes, don't waste your time.

The historical value of this place can be seen from the level of the visiting guests. So it is not suitable for uneducated people.

Advantages: Open until 7pm in summer

Disadvantages: The tour guide's level is a bit low, and he seems to be fooling people.

Zhaojun, I have come to see you, leaving the green tomb behind and returning home

It's pretty good, the ticket price is cheap, and it's worth it if you can see the show!

To be honest, the scenic spot is average and covers a small area, but you must go to see it in Hohhot. There are several buildings inside, about the culture of Zhaojun, the culture of the Xiongnu, etc. Then there is the Qing Tomb, which is a small hill. It's not bad. Overall, it's worth a visit.

By The Wind in the Quiet Valley |

If you come to Hohhot, you must visit the tomb of Wang Zhaojun (Qingzhong). Wang Zhaojun's journey to the frontier objectively brought decades of peace to the Hu and Han families, but it is needless to say that it was a helpless act for Zhaojun herself. Later generations may respect her, but there is no need to raise her to the level of subjective consciousness like Guo did.

By charlie |

Just like in the picture, it should be a cenotaph, with no cultural relics, but some historical introductions, which are left for tourists to imagine.

By Yin Xiaoyin |

Located in the southern suburbs of Hohhot, the Zhaojun Museum is shaded by fragrant grass and looks like a poem or a painting. According to historical records, Zhaojun's marriage to the Huns helped the Han and Xiongnu maintain friendly relations for 60 years. For thousands of years, Zhaojun has become a symbol of national friendship, and Zhaojun's tomb has become a historical memorial tower that witnesses friendship.

Zhaojun Tomb, also known as "Qingzhong", is the tomb of Wang Zhaojun, a famous concubine of the Han Dynasty, according to historical records and folk legends. However, it is unknown whether Zhaojun was really buried in this place. Now it is a place for the people of Inner Mongolia to commemorate this great woman.

By Go your own way |

Wang Zhaojun's story is well known to everyone, and it is a good idea to visit here to commemorate this historical story. The transportation to Zhaojun's Tomb is also very convenient. Take bus No. 1 at the railway station, get off at the terminus, Inner Mongolia University Entrepreneurship College, transfer to bus No. 44 and get off at the terminus, Zhaojun Tomb bus stop, and you will arrive at Zhaojun's Tomb.

By Travel around China |

Zhaojun's Tomb is located at the southern end of the suburbs of Hohhot, south of the Mongolian Customs Park. Zhaojun's Tomb is said to be the cemetery of Wang Zhaojun, but now it is called Zhaojun Museum. Walking into the gate of Zhaojun Museum, there are some museums on both sides. There are Xiongnu Museum, Heqin Hall, Xiongnu Tent, Zhaojun's Hometown, etc. But in the off-season, only the Xiongnu Museum is open. There is a landmark bronze statue of Zhaojun and Xiongnu Khan riding horses on the main road of Zhaojun's Tomb. After going up the mountain, there are tombstones of Zhaojun written in Chinese and Mongolian on both sides. Zhaojun's tomb is a hill, which is not very high. There is a pavilion after the steps. The entire Zhaojun Tomb is not very big, and one hour is enough in the peak season. Zhaojun's Tomb is 65 yuan in the peak season and 50 yuan in the off-season. There is a large parking lot at the gate, which is more convenient to drive there by yourself. Since the bus is on the road outside in the suburbs, it is not very convenient.

By 💤s |

Because of Du Fu's poem about the ancient monuments, I came here at dusk. I didn't have change to take bus 44, so I put a 5-yuan note in the coin box. I felt bad at first, but I was lucky to meet a...brother (I really don't know what to call him) who gave me a ticket for some reason, and I ended up getting in for free. I'm very grateful~ I also bought a few Mongolian yurt key chains in the Heqin Garden, they were very cheap, and I gave them to my classmates when I returned.

It sounds nice to call it the Tomb of Concubine Zhaojun, but it is actually a museum. It is not convenient to visit because it is in the suburbs. It seems that there is only one bus going there, and there are only a few people. If you are free, go and have a look. If you are not free and your schedule is full, you can ignore it.

It was a pity that everything was under renovation that day and I didn’t even see the statue of Zhaojun!

But overlooking the Qing Tomb also has a unique flavor~

It is a very famous place, in the south of Hohhot, and there are buses to get there (it is hard to wait for the black car, 15 yuan). There are many exhibits from the Xiongnu period, which are not bad to see, but the ticket price is too expensive, 65 yuan, which I think is not worth it.

I went there because of the fame of Zhaojun. When I got there, I was impressed by the expensive ticket price (35 yuan for students at half price), but nothing else was special. There were few tourists, the collections were not as good as those in the Inner Mongolia Museum, and the scenery was simple. But after all, I came to pay homage to and remember Zhaojun, so I don't regret coming.

The tomb of Zhaojun is located in the southern suburbs of Hohhot. Locals call it "Qingzhong". It is one of the largest tombs of the Han Dynasty in China. In addition to introducing relevant attractions, the tour guide also talked about the legend of Zhaojun.

According to legend, Mao Yanshou, a painter in the Han Dynasty, painted portraits of beauties in the harem. Emperor Yuan selected palace maids through the portraits. For most palace maids, their greatest wish after entering the harem was to receive the emperor's grace and to win the advantage of "three thousand favors in one person" in the harem. Therefore, they bribed Mao Yanshou with money and asked him to paint them more beautifully. Mao was used to being flattered, but Zhaojun was deeply dissatisfied with this unhealthy trend and did not bribe Mao Yanshou. So the painter put a "mole that hurts her husband and makes him cry" under the corner of Zhaojun's eye - don't underestimate this mole. In the feudal concept more than 2,000 years ago, people believed that women with such moles were the nemesis of their husbands. As a feudal monarch, it was certainly impossible to favor such a woman. In this way, Zhaojun had no chance to be favored. However, when Emperor Yuan of the Han Dynasty saw Zhaojun herself and found that she had a beauty that could make fish sink and geese fall but did not have the "mole that hurts her husband and makes him cry", he regretted it. Unfortunately, everything was a foregone conclusion and could not be reversed, so he had to give up.

The 60 years after Zhaojun went to the frontier were 60 years of harmonious coexistence between the Han and the Xiongnu, and 60 years of peaceful development in the entire south of the desert, including the Hohhot area. There emerged a prosperous scene of "cattle and horses roaming the fields and the people thriving". The Han and Xiongnu people of all ethnic groups, who had enjoyed 60 years of peaceful life after suffering from war, deeply loved Wang Zhaojun.

After following the tour guide, I climbed up the stone steps to the top of the Qing Tomb by myself, walked around and took in the surrounding scenery.

The Zhaojun Tomb Scenic Area is more beautiful and grand than I had imagined. It is recommended to spend a whole day visiting the Zhaojun Tomb and visit the nearby National Customs Park.

The tomb of Zhaojun is also known as the Green Tomb because it is said that in late autumn, when the grass and trees in the surrounding areas are withered and yellow, only the tomb of Zhaojun is still covered with green grass.

There is a museum inside, with a statue of Concubine Zhaojun and Huhanye Shanyu riding horses. But after going up to the Qing Tomb, there is nothing there except a bunch of people buying things, which feels quite a rip-off.

By Sinian Little Lich |

The Zhaojun Tomb and the Zhaojun Museum have been renovated and are brand new. The tomb where Zhaojun's real body was buried has long disappeared. This is a cenotaph, a place for future generations to pay tribute. There is a toll booth on the main road to the Zhaojun Tomb. It costs 30 yuan to go back and forth. What does this mean? You can only take the bus (there is only one bus No. 44). The ticket is 50 yuan (48 yuan on Ctrip). If there is no performance, it is really not worth the ticket price! The Zhaojun Museum has the Xiongnu Cultural Museum, the Heqin Garden, the Zhaojun Heqin Statue, the Xiongnu History Exhibition, the Stone Statue and other attractions. Finally, the Zhaojun Tomb, that is, the Qing Tomb, Wang Zhaojun was later named Han Mingfei. Climbing up the Qing Tomb, you can overlook the entire Zhaojun Museum and look at Hohhot from a distance.

By Legend of Light and Shadow |

Zhaojun Tomb - Located on the south bank of Dahei River in the southern suburbs, it is an ancient tomb of the Western Han Dynasty that has been passed down from ancient times to the present and is well-known both at home and abroad. It is majestic and towering, and looks like a mountain from a distance. In late autumn and September every year, when the grass outside the Great Wall withers, the nearby grass and trees wither and turn yellow, but the grass on Zhaojun's tomb is green, so the ancients called it "Green Tomb". The ticket is 70 yuan, which is a bit expensive. Generally, Hohhot citizens find it a bit expensive, so there are relatively few tourists from citizens. In the past, there was only one scenic spot, Zhaojun Tomb, and later the Mongolian Cultural Exhibition Hall, Zhaojun's hometown and other attractions were added.

When I got off the bus, I felt that there were not many people, and there was no feeling of being at a famous attraction. The tickets can be obtained with student ID cards. If you want to take advantage of the tour guide's explanation, I feel it is a bit difficult, because there are not many people and the explanation is not much. You can also go in and take a quick look like us, but there is not much meaning. Personally, I feel that the level of sightseeing in the tomb of Concubine Zhaojun is average... Looking at the portrait of Concubine Zhaojun in the museum, I really don't think it's that good... Are people in ancient times malnourished?
