Qingming Bridge Ancient Grand Canal Scenic Area

The scenic area is formed by the intersection of two "Y"-shaped thousand-year-old rivers and two ancient streets along the river, and is a collection of rich historical relics and cultural landscapes. The most famous of them is the "Jiangnan Water Lane", which is known as the "unprecedented essence of the ancient canal". The oars, lights, ancient bridges and folk houses along the coast form a natural "folk customs water painting" of the ancient canal.
Qingming Bridge is an ancient bridge with a long history. It was built in the late 16th century during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. It was built with donations from the two sons of Qin Yao, the owner of Wuxi's "Jichang Garden". Because the brothers' names were Taiqing and Taining, they took one character from each and named it "Qingning Bridge". This stone bridge was rebuilt by Wuxi County Magistrate Wu Xingzuo in the eighth year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1666 AD). During the Daoguang period, it was renamed Qingming Bridge because of the taboo of Emperor Daoguang's name Minning. Some people also call it "Qingming Bridge".

A rare place along the canal, a water alley in the south of the Yangtze River.

This is the famous Qingmingqiao Ancient Canal.

On both sides of the canal,

Ancient streets and alleys, ancient houses and ancient bridges,

Walk here,

I can feel the power of time going back.

To experience times you have never experienced before.

Looking around,

It was as if I was looking into the eyes of an old man with a lot of experience.

My mood was also calmed by his simple and ancient aura.

Every brick and tile is stained with corrosion.

I don't know how many storms, frosts, snows and rains I have experienced.

Leaving traces of time,

But still take it easy,

Watching this ancient canal,

Sit back and watch the changing situation.

Watch the world passing by quietly.

Qingming Bridge is located at the intersection of the ancient canal and Bodu Port outside the South Gate. It is the best scenic spot in the Wuxi section of the ancient canal. The ancient canal that passes through the city is definitely the place with the most Jiangnan water charm in Wuxi. Standing on the bridge and feeling the unique charm of the gentle water, I think everyone will be intoxicated by this Jiangnan water town!

With its white walls and black tiles, the river is a unique building with the characteristics of a Jiangnan water town. It is not only the earliest artificial river in Wuxi, but also the earliest canal in human history. On both sides are dilapidated houses with mottled walls, as well as well-arranged stone piers.

Nowadays, many people, both tourists and locals, still linger in the "water alleys" with small bridges, flowing water, Jiangnan water towns, and boats sailing on the river... The long river has witnessed the long history of Wuxi and inherited the simple and mellow feelings of the Jiangnan water towns...

To see the ancient canal, you must go at night and take a cruise. I saw that most of the bee friends did not take a boat. The photos taken on the water are much more beautiful than those taken on land! Moreover, it is still a bit far from Nanchan Temple to the temple bridge, the best place for taking photos, and there are shops on both sides along the way. In addition, it is impossible to walk along the river bank because 95% of the river bank is privately surrounded by shops. The price of the cruise is 80 yuan per person on site, and there is no discount for the elderly, and 50 yuan for children. If you buy tickets in advance online, it is 60 yuan per person. It is so beautiful to blow the river breeze and look at the old buildings and red lanterns on both sides of the river! ! !

There is an archway at the entrance with the words "Canal Ancient Town" clearly written on it. Plane trees stand on both sides of the stone road, and lanterns are hung on the trees and on the houses by the river, adding a bright color to the ancient street. When the lights are on at night and the roads are bright, the beauty is intoxicating.

The ancient canal is extremely beautiful at night, and under the light, it can better reflect the style of the Jiangnan water town.

In fact, the best way is to find a small teahouse, listen to music, and enjoy the scenery on both sides of the canal. Or take a sightseeing boat on the canal and experience the feeling of drinking wine on the boat of the ancients.

One river, two streets, three bridges! This is the Qingming Bridge Ancient Canal Scenic Area. The sound of oars, lights, ancient bridges, old houses, and the streets and alleys on the bluestone slabs outline a natural picture of the ancient canal folk water gallery. On this section of the ancient canal, the two ancient streets of Nanxiatang and Nanchang Street on the left and right sides are connected from south to north by the Qingming Bridge, Dagong Bridge, and Kuatang Bridge. Small bridges and flowing water, the Jiangnan water village, the cruise ships coming and going on the ancient canal, and the "Jiangnan Water Lane" scene with the waves.

This place is formed by the intersection of two "Y"-shaped thousand-year-old rivers and two ancient streets along the river. There are many historical buildings, which are said to be traces of streets in the Qing Dynasty. And unlike Wuzhen, many people still live here. This neighborhood has many historical and cultural relics, such as "He Nong" and "Qingming Bridge". It is not suitable to wander here in too hot weather. If you are in the misty rain of Jiangnan, you can take a slow walk to see the relics left over from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the former residences of celebrities and museums. Or find a homestay, sit and watch the green willows, and lie down to listen to the music.

Qingming Bridge is the oldest, largest and best-preserved single-hole stone arch bridge on the Wuxi Ancient Grand Canal. The Ancient Grand Canal, a world cultural heritage and national cultural relic protection site, is the earliest canal dug in my country, the only canal that passes through the city and has the most original ecological features.

Nanxiatang Time-honored Brand Street on the east bank of the Ancient Grand Canal has a strong "Wuxi flavor" and is mainly engaged in time-honored brands and folk-themed inns. It is the "most Wuxi" place on the banks of the Ancient Grand Canal.

By Dry Skiing |

This section is the ancient canal reserve. There are few tourists. Maybe we are still early for the tour!

By Slow down the journey |

It is located in the Qingming Bridge Historical District, with Qingming Bridge and Nanchang Street as the main attractions. Unfortunately, there are not many tourists and not many people living here.

The Dayao Road ancient kiln group ruins on the bank of the ancient Grand Canal are the remains of brick and tile kilns from the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, and are one of the important origins of ancient Chinese bricks and tiles.

Although the bridge is not big, it is the most famous attraction in the Wuxi section of the renowned Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.

You can walk around the cultural blocks on both sides at will, and there is no entrance fee. Some of them still have a deep historical heritage, and some are not very famous but very interesting places.

Qingming Bridge is located at the southern end of the scenic area. It is a single-hole stone arch bridge with a bridge deck made of granite. The stone lions at the bridge head have lost their original appearance over the years.

By A young girl |

It was already night when we arrived at Qingming Bridge. The lights were shining, and the sightseeing boats were passing by on the canal. The night view was very charming. No wonder Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty would come here when he had nothing to do. There were many restaurants on both sides of the ancient street, and each restaurant had a different decoration style, which was very unique.

By Wandering Rabbit |

If you ask me what Jiangnan is, I will tell you drizzle, small rivers and stone bridges. I think Qingming Bridge is the most Jiangnan place in Wuxi. The old residential areas on both sides of the river have been transformed into various small shops, and there is also a cultural area similar to 798. It is best to go to Qingming Bridge at sunset to see the sunset and the night scenery of Jiangnan.

The best thing about Qingming Bridge is its tranquility. The commercial street next door seems to be blocked, and the whole river is like a painting, a rich and colorful ink painting.

Second stop: Nanchang Ancient Street

Time: 2018.4.4 Weather: cloudy

Nanchang Street is a national 4A-level tourist attraction. It is an ancient street in Wuxi. It is an ancient street along the Wuxi section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, also known as the Qingming Bridge Historical and Cultural Block. The block consists of Nanchang Street, the Wuxi section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, Nanxiatang, Bodu Port, Dayao Road and other areas with rich historical and cultural heritage. The block is centered on the ancient canal, covers an area of 18.78 hectares, and is composed of many landscapes such as temples, towers, rivers, streets, bridges, kilns, and workshops. The unique environment has built a unique Jiangnan water alley. The "Qingming Bridge" built in the Ming Dynasty and spanning the two sides of the canal is an important symbol of the block. On June 22, 2014, the Qingming Bridge Historical and Cultural Block was listed as a part of the Wuxi urban section of the Jiangnan Canal in the Grand Canal, a world cultural heritage.

This is a typical Jiangnan water town on the Grand Canal, known as "Jiangnan Water Lane, the Out-of-Print Place of the Canal". Nanchang Street reminds me of Qilishantang in Suzhou and Qinhuai River in Nanjing, as if it is a combination of the two places, each with similarities, but not entirely the same. On the banks of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal (Wuxi section), there are classic small bridges and flowing water, ancient and quaint. There is a memorial archway at the entrance with the four characters "Guanhe Guyi" inscribed on it. There are sycamore trees on both sides of the stone road, and lanterns are hung on the trees and the houses by the river, adding a bright color to the ancient street. When the lights are on at night, the beauty is intoxicating. Nowadays, this place has gradually evolved into an ancient street-style commercial street, with people coming and going at night, and a constant stream of people. Various shops, snacks, and characteristic buildings attract attention along the way. In the center of Wuxi, which is full of high-rise buildings, the gentle, long, and quaint Nanchang Street is a tender place for the soul.

(This review is purely personal opinion, and is provided as a reference for friends who love traveling. My photography skills are a bit poor, so please forgive me)

It has a feeling of being a water town. Although it is not very big, the ancient town buildings in front of you and the modern buildings in the distance complement each other. The night view is very beautiful, with small bridges and flowing water, and there are many places to eat and small shops. It is suitable for a stroll at night.

By Apple Manufacturing |

+ The river is narrow and the water quality is relatively good

+ The building is simple and well-maintained, and retains the characteristics of ancient Jiangnan buildings

- It is quite commercialized, with shops along the river, and not many outstanding attractions. It is a bit bland.

By Liu Xuantang |

It's worth a visit, and it's a free old street. It's not far from the subway station, so you can walk slowly and it's very pleasant.

By Qingqing |

[Refuse to Stay at Home 11] It is very close to Nanchan Temple Pedestrian Street. Just walk south along Nanchang Street. It is much better than Nanchan Temple Pedestrian Street. Although it is not a local snack and has a strong sense of modernity, it has a more petty bourgeoisie atmosphere. The buildings are antique and have a lot of flavor. I like it very much. It is a combination of ancient towns and unique shops. It is clean and elegant.

By Vic |

Personally, I feel that Nanxiatang is more beautiful at night. The Jiangnan water town is more charming under the light. It's just that there are too many people during holidays.

Qingmingqiao Historical and Cultural Block is located in Nanchang District, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province. It is the birthplace of modern Chinese national industry and commerce, and is also a typical river section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal that has been declared a World Cultural Heritage Site. The entire block still basically retains the original white-walled and black-tiled architectural appearance with unique Jiangnan water town cultural characteristics, making it an excellent place for tourists to taste the "flavor of old Wuxi".

The houses on both sides of the river have basically been developed into teahouses, restaurants, coffee bars and other shops. There are also open-air seats and various flowers and plants planted by the shops on the river bank. Whether you sit and drink tea and daydream, or take photos, it is very suitable. And when you look inside the open shops, you will often see surprising scenery. The Qingmingqiao Street District in the morning has a unique quiet beauty. There are few tourists. Walking on the bluestone road has the illusion of traveling back in time. From noon, the street began to become lively, with more and more tourists. The shops have opened for business, and the street has regained its vitality. It is immediately full of fashion and modernity. Walking on the same street, but it feels completely different.

By Bo Hu Sister |

Qingming Bridge is located at the southern end of the Qingming Bridge Historical and Cultural District in Wuxi. It is a single-arch stone bridge made of granite! Qingming Bridge has Jiangnan characteristics. Standing on the top of Qingming Bridge, you can see houses with Jiangnan characteristics on both sides. There are black-sailed boats sailing in the river in the middle. The typical "small bridge, flowing water, and people" layout is very artistic! At night, the lights near Qingming Bridge are bright. Because it is close to Nanchang Street, the pedestrian street is very lively and is a good place for young people to go shopping! Take a walk on the bridge and feel the ancient architectural design. It's very good!

It feels like an ordinary old bridge, and the traffic around it is a bit chaotic.

Qingming Bridge is the representative landscape of the entire scenic area. It was first built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. It was built with donations from the two sons of Qin Yao, the owner of Wuxi's "Jichang Garden". Because the brothers' names were Taiqing and Taining, they were named "Qingning Bridge". The ancient bridge was rebuilt by Wuxi County Magistrate Wu Xingzuo in the eighth year of the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty (1666 AD). During the Daoguang period, it was renamed Qingming Bridge because of the taboo of Emperor Daoguang's name Minning. Some people also call it "Qingming Bridge".

Qingming Bridge is a single-hole stone arch bridge, 43.2 meters long, 5.5 meters wide, 8.5 meters high, with a span of 13.1 meters, and is made entirely of granite. The arch ring is a common section-by-section parallel type in Jiangnan, with a total of 11 sections, and there are inscriptions on the ring stones on both sides of the ring hole.

Due to the terrain differences between the two banks, the stone levels are different in the east and west, with 46 levels in the east and 43 levels in the west.

Walking up Qingming Bridge at night, I saw the seven-character poem "Night Mooring at Bodu" written by Zhao Mengfu, a calligrapher of the Yuan Dynasty, when he visited this river. It was quite easy to read.

Autumn is in the Liangxi and Bodu rivers, and I am alone and at ease in the place where all the people are. In Zixu, I am looking for Wu affairs, and on the Meili River, I am carrying wine boats. Willows sway by the bridge, and the lights are in disarray, and the moonlight hangs in the river. Don't urge me to go home in the morning, I love to listen to the fishermen's songs everywhere.

It's a place worth going to. I didn't like the bars at night, but some people like them. I like the way she just got up in the morning, with only a few people, and the sun shining on the streets and the river.

The night view is very beautiful! It is unique to the city of Wuxi! The modern and ancient atmospheres blend together! I took a lot of beautiful photos! I like this place very much!

I booked a boat ticket on Lvmama, but later I felt it was unnecessary. The photos I took on the shore were also good. Fortunately, I didn't have much money, 40 yuan for a boat ticket~

One street has more bars, restaurants, and teahouses and is more lively; the other street is more ancient and sells more local specialties. The two streets are connected.

The Starbucks on the street is very Wuxi-style, I love it!

This is a place I am very satisfied with during my trip to Wuxi!

Qingming Bridge is an ancient bridge from the Ming Dynasty, located on the ancient canal in the middle section of Nanchang Street. It is the core of the Qingming Bridge Historical and Cultural Block of the Grand Canal Wuxi Section, a world cultural heritage. The bridge has a simple and beautiful shape, and on its east side there is an arch bridge, Bodu Bridge, built during the Republic of China.

I have been to many ancient towns, but only Nanxiatang-Qingming Bridge has the most misty Jiangnan feeling, especially in the deep and prosperous place, it can maintain that tranquility, which is not easy. The thousand-year-old ancient canal, the century-old Qingming Bridge, and the Jiangnan water alleys are worth a visit~

By Shi Yi |

The Jiangnan style is very strong, and it is also very literary and fresh. It is a good place for taking photos and relaxing. I like to sit here for an afternoon, drink afternoon tea, and chat.

By Laughter and Forgetfulness |

It spans the two sides of the Grand Canal. On the south side of Qingming Bridge is the Bodu River, which flows through Meicun to Changshu. Because I live on the edge of the Hangzhou section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the other side of the water under the bridge is right in front of my home, which gives me an inexplicable sense of intimacy.

By JulieFu |

It can be said to be a "slow bar street". There are bars and restaurants on both sides when you walk in, and some of the seats are open-air. In summer, it is very suitable to have a meal and chat with friends in an open-air environment. But if the schedule is tight, there is no need to go to Qingming Bridge. It has no ornamental value and does not have much historical value compared to other attractions in Wuxi. And the further you go in, the quieter it becomes. It is said that due to the rent, nearly half of the shops on this street are empty. PS. The "Fast Bar Street" is near the train station. Those who want to go to a real bar can go there to have a look~

By scorpion |

During the day, the Qingming Bridge Grand Canal Ancient Town displays the unique charm of the city of tin. At night, the Grand Canal Ancient Town is another unique landscape!

The Qingming Bridge Ancient Canal Scenic Area is the most Jiangnan cultural feature in Wuxi. Whether it is day or night, the scenery of the ancient canal is very impressive!!!

By Walker |

I was walking around and found that I had accidentally walked to Qingming Bridge. I saw a lot of people and ran to join in the fun. I didn't know that this was also a scenic spot before. This is a street of small bars, and the consumption is definitely lower than that of Yangchun Alley. I guess there will be a lot of people in the summer, and it will be frozen to death in the winter.

This is a bar street, but it's the kind of small bar. It should be more lively in summer, but it seems a bit depressed in winter.

By tricy |

It feels so-so, not many people, the lights are not beautiful enough, it's far from what was introduced, a little disappointed, it's ok to just wander around

By Leci |

It's beautiful at night, and the street next to it is a must-visit for literary and artistic people. Two hours is enough to take photos and drink tea.
