Lu's Ancient House

During the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, the salt merchant Lu Shaoxu built the house at a cost of 70,000 taels of silver. The main gate faces south, and the original building had nine entrances and exits. The entire building is spacious and grand, and is mostly decorated with nanmu wood. It is the largest salt merchant residence in Yangzhou. In 1981, it was destroyed by fire, destroying the Zhao Hall, Nanmu Hall, Second Hall, and Women's Hall. The gatehouse, residential building, inner house, Yi Garden, library, pavilion and other buildings still exist.

The Lu's Ancient House is also the residence of a salt merchant. The restaurant opens at 7 o'clock and the scenic spot opens at 9 o'clock.

You can have morning tea inside and visit for free. The ticket price for visiting the scenic spot alone is 20 yuan.

The entire mansion was transformed into a large hotel, and the original reception rooms, rooms, etc. were converted into private rooms.

There are only two halls in the back garden to accommodate individual guests, with less than twenty tables, so space for individual guests is very limited.

It was around 7:30 when we arrived at the entrance of Lu's house, and sure enough, there was a bunch of people standing at the entrance.

I went to the service center to ask for a number, but there were no numbers available. . . . ???

I continued to ask and was told that only 20 numbers were issued that day and they were gone as soon as 7 o'clock arrived...

I did some research online before, and it only said that there are a lot of people at Lu's, and if you queue up by 10 o'clock and still haven't gotten a meal, the restaurant will be closed. No one mentioned that there is a limit on the number of people.

I got up early and came here, ready to queue, but I was not even qualified to queue, which was a bit disappointing.

I asked if I could order takeout, and was told that I must have a table number when ordering, and I couldn't even order takeout without a number.

Not giving up, I started chatting with an uncle next to me who had got a number. There were eight of them in my group and they had numbers for the big table.

After we repeatedly expressed that we would take the food away after taking our order and would not disturb them, they agreed to take us in.

The waiter took the people who got the number to the gate of the back garden and handed out a row of plastic stools. There was a barrier at the entrance of the garden, and two waiters were blocking the door.

I joked with Brother Peng that the dining experience was quite bad.

It seems like in ancient times when rich businessmen gave out porridge, a group of poor people would crowd at the door waiting for alms.

Fortunately, it didn’t take long before it was the uncle’s turn to share the table.

The waiter knew that Peng Ge and I didn’t have a number and tried to stop us but failed.

In this place, you are not allowed to spend money just because you want to.

It is indeed not easy to eat at a wealthy family's house.

Overall feeling: The morning tea tastes really good and the environment is good, so the slightly higher price is acceptable.

It’s just that the experience of queuing is so bad. I don’t know if the limit is only during the peak season of the short holiday, or if it has always been like this.

If you are like us, you can also try to ask the tourists who have got numbers next to you if they are willing to share a table.

Or you can find a few people who didn’t get a number and share a private room with them.

The private rooms have seats and are not limited in number, but you can only order set meals, which cost 128 yuan per person, with a minimum order of 8 people.

The hotel obviously focuses on the big business of private rooms and does not pay enough attention to individual customers.

Try it once, probably won't come again.

Known as the No.1 building of salt merchants in the late Qing Dynasty, it is now a Huaiyang restaurant renovated from an ancient building. When I was young and ignorant, I was deeply attracted by this mansion restaurant that appeared in a food documentary of CCTV Dad, and vowed to come to Yangzhou to eat it! Look at what a simple dream it is!

Before coming here, I specially reviewed the documentary and made a list of must-eats. This foodie didn't take notes so seriously even in my senior year of high school. I made sure to eat all the things I had seen in the documentary, such as crab roe tofu, Wensi tofu, boiled shredded dried bean curd, and eight-treasure gourd duck!

This eight-treasure gourd duck is amazing. Eating this dish is a full sensory enjoyment. The whole duck is deboned, and the water chestnuts, mushrooms, winter bamboo shoots, ham, lotus seeds, etc. are fried on fire, and then paired with glutinous rice. The prepared eight-treasure stuffing is stuffed into the duck's belly, and then tied tightly around the duck's waist with hemp rope. It is very soft and tasty. Recommended! Must order!

In general, the dishes at Lu's Ancient House are very good in taste and presentation, and the quaint dining environment is really a plus. They pretend to be a wealthy family and the prices are not very high. The portions are also OK. The three of us girls ate so much that we almost wanted to walk back to the hotel. It is worth experiencing if you travel to Yangzhou.

I didn't get to eat. The breakfast is from 7:00 to 9:30. People who arrive before 9:30 are not allowed in. You have to go early. It doesn't seem worth it to buy a ticket to visit. Lunch is even shorter from 11:30 to 13:00, and dinner is a little longer.

I came here because of its reputation. The old house was converted into a restaurant. It is really unique. I wanted to have a private room, but unfortunately it was sold out. The taste of the dishes is OK. I highly recommend the glutinous rice and smoked duck, which is really delicious.

I want to have morning tea. It's delicious. There are all kinds of buns. Some people come to take away and buy several baskets.

The Lu's Ancient House is a representative work of residential architecture of ancient salt merchants and the largest existing salt merchant's ancient house. This ancient house is now used as a restaurant. In addition to the private rooms, it only receives 20 customers per meal per day, and the private rooms cannot be less than 8 people. It can be said that the requirements are very unique. If you don't eat here, you need a ticket to visit. The opening time for the visit is only half an hour from 9:00 to 9:30 every morning. However, there are not many tourists, and the high walls and deep courtyards are still worth a look. The Lu's Ancient House is quite small and can be fully visited in half an hour.

By Duan Yaoyao Furla |

There are private rooms and restaurants in the ancient house. The entrance fee is 15 yuan, but it is free if you want to dine. Just tell the receptionist that you want to dine, and someone will take you to the restaurant. As night fell, the lights in the ancient house were turned on. It seemed that someone was having a wedding that day, and the whole house was bustling with people coming and going. There were not many waiters in the restaurant, and there was a second floor. Not many people dined that night, so everyone enjoyed it on the first floor.

The taste of shrimp and squirrel fish is sweet and sour, the surface is crispy, the degree of frying is just right, and the shrimp is very tender and delicious.

By Little Gardener |

The private gardens in the south of the Yangtze River are truly charming and have different styles.

By Kathleen |

Why it is worth a visit is because the Huaiyang cuisine in the Lu's ancient house is very good (I finally had three sets of duck, which was fresh and tender, first-class). It may not be very romantic during the day, but if the big red lanterns are hung high at night, it has an ambiguous mood.

By Running Sister Pepper |

Recommended dishes: one portion of hot dried shredded pork, steamed dumplings, three-fresh stewed noodles, and vegetable buns. After dinner, you can stroll around the garden to digest the food. Lu's Chinese and dinner are all authentic Huaiyang cuisine, which are worth a try. Lion's head and Wensi tofu are recommended. If there are few people, you can order in the hall or in the private room. The price starts at 150 yuan per person.

The deep corridor contains the wealth of the salt merchants in the past. I feel the power of going with the flow, but everything is like a passing cloud. The food is great and the view is great. I recommend it.

By doctor |

You need to buy a ticket just to visit the residence, but not if you want to eat. I highly recommend Lu's rice wine, which is sold right at the entrance. I didn't see many people recommend it online, but I definitely won't regret buying it~ The glutinous rice smoked duck and Wu Ding Bao are also delicious.

By Wind Array Fox |

Everyone knows that the Lu's Salt Merchants' Residence operates a restaurant, but I didn't expect that this business is the main business! Because more than 80% or even 90% of the entire residence has been transformed into catering-related areas, most of which are private rooms and other dining areas. You can visit for free if you eat inside. I am the only one, and I can only sit in the northernmost hall for dinner, so if you have dinner and then play, you have to go from the back to the front, which is a bit uncomfortable.

Coming out of the Zero Point Hall on the northernmost side, looking west, you can see the famous 170-year-old wisteria, which is almost the same age as the house. The vines are thick and hard, but there is nothing special about the appearance. It is probably allowed to grow freely by the owner. It feels like you can just take a look at it, and there is nothing special about it. After passing the lawn where the wisteria is located, a little further south is the pond and the boat hall in the back garden. However, because the Lu family residence is long and narrow from north to south and the east-west opening is not wide, it looks rather cramped. It cannot be compared with the big garden in terms of scenery. However, as far as a personal residence is concerned, it is really one of the few places with water (there is no water view in Wang's small garden), which shows that the salt merchant still has some power.

The middle part of the whole residence is all buildings, and they are all converted into banquet halls. There is no introduction, and the names of each room, such as Yanyi Hall, Yanzhong Hall, Yanyu Hall, etc., were also given by the hotel itself later. There are dozens of private rooms, and even the smallest one is at least 100 square meters, decorated in an antique style with a unique charm. The largest Qingyun Hall is extremely luxurious. I mean as a private room, this should be the hall of the original house, about 300 square meters, and now it is used as a banquet hall for 30 people. Imagine drinking and eating Huaiyang here in the evening, singing and dancing, how happy~ But it's just a thought.

From the material point of view, like most of the houses in Yangzhou in the late Qing Dynasty, the walls are almost all made of wood, the floors are stone bricks, and the decorations are mostly wood carvings. It is simple and heavy, and very imposing. At the south end of the house, that is, the entrance, there is a house with several KT boards hanging to introduce various banquets in the past. It seems that the only trace of text left is also for catering services. The whole tour took about half an hour, which was not as long as the half an hour of eating and waiting for the dishes. It is not recommended to visit. For residential tours, the first choice is Wang's Xiaoyuan, which is more pure.

The Lu's Salt Merchant Residence was built in the 20th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty. It is the largest existing salt merchant residence in Yangzhou and an important relic reflecting Yangzhou's salt culture. The Lu's Salt Merchant Residence is located next to Kangshan Cultural Park. The main gate facing south is magnificent and elegant. The brick carvings on the lintel are extremely exquisite. Although they have gone through vicissitudes of time, the figures with different expressions on the brick carvings are still lively and vivid.

If you don't eat, you need to buy a ticket to enter. If you eat, you don't need to buy a ticket, but the price is included in the dish price. The price of a dish is much higher than the ticket price. Do you think you should go or not?

The environment of Lu's Ancient House is relatively quiet. I went there because I saw the high recommendation index on China-TravelNote. I arrived around 12 noon and needed to take a number and wait for a table before someone could take me in for dinner. The service attitude was poor, the price of the dishes was medium, the taste was not amazing, and I just enjoyed the dining environment.

If you don't eat here (I heard that lunch costs 200 yuan per person), I really don't recommend you to go. I went there at 2pm when it opened, and the ticket price was 15 yuan. There was no one inside and no scenery, just walls and houses, and it was quite gloomy and lifeless, a bit scary. The small garden at the back is just for show! I really recommend not to go!

I tasted the legendary Wensi tofu and Huadiao shad in the Lu's ancient house, which are really worth a try. After dinner, I strolled around the house and the Yi Garden behind it. The biggest feeling is: this salt merchant really knows how to enjoy life. Of course, the Lu's salt merchant residence is the largest and most luxurious residence of the salt merchants in Yangzhou in the late Qing Dynasty, and is known as the "No. 1 Salt Merchant Building". It is definitely not comparable to ordinary salt merchants!

The garden scenery is nice, but inside is the dining area, which is too commercial. If you are short on time, it is not recommended to go there.

Before I went to Yangzhou, I had been dreaming of coming here for morning tea.

Unfortunately, I started to have a low-grade fever that day.

So all the food has no taste.

Crab roe soup dumplings: thin skin and lots of soup

The Emerald Shaomai is also good. I also had a cup of green tea.

But the waiting time is indeed long.

I took my family to Yangzhou during the Chinese New Year to eat Huaiyang cuisine. Of course, it is best to eat in an old house. Lu's house is very good. You have to queue up and take a number to eat. I got number 10 at 4:30 in the afternoon and got in around 5 o'clock. But the food is still great.

This garden does not have as many rockeries, strange rocks, exotic flowers and plants as other gardens, and its scale is not that large, but when you walk in you can feel its extraordinary grandeur!

This place is not big, but it has a great feel. It is famous because many people mentioned that the morning tea here is very famous. You have to line up early in the morning. If you are late, you can't eat it. There are not too many tables, and the tables are not constantly turned over. It is said that some people line up at more than five in the morning just to have a bite of the morning tea here.

This is the house built by Lu Shaoxu, a salt merchant from Jiangxi during the reign of Emperor Guangxu. According to the introduction here, Lu Shaoxu was from Shangrao, Jiangxi. After arriving in Yangzhou, he served as the ambassador of the salt field tax. Later, he gave up his official position and went into business. He was a leader among the salt merchants in Yangzhou in the late Qing Dynasty. His house covers an area of nearly 10,000 square meters and has more than 130 rooms. It is the largest existing salt merchant residence in Yangzhou. It is now neglected and a little run-down. If you have morning tea here, you can come in and take a look after dinner. No tickets are required.

A thousand-year-old city, I really like the simplicity of Yangzhou. Many ancient buildings are well preserved. When I saw the ancient houses, I felt the heavy and simple style, which is not inferior to Qiao's Courtyard. The Lu's Salt Merchant's Residence was built in the 20th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty. It was the largest and most luxurious residence of a salt merchant in Yangzhou in the late Qing Dynasty and was known as the "No. 1 Salt Merchant's Residence".

If Yechun is close to the masses, then Lushi is more refined and bourgeois. Although I haven't seen its lunch and dinner dishes, I think it suits my taste better than Yechun for morning tea - the price is not much different. Together with the Wuhan guy who temporarily joined the table, the four of us ordered sweet osmanthus lotus root, Shang vegetarian roast duck, Lushi steamed dumplings, hot dried shredded pork, jade siomai and tofu skin buns. Sweet osmanthus lotus root is the best I have ever eaten, with full glutinous rice, soft lotus root slices, and just the right sweetness - if I have to find any faults, it's probably that it was a little cold when it was just taken out of the refrigerator. When I ordered Shang vegetarian roast duck, I thought it was the kind that was cooked with bean curd skin sandwiched with various shredded ingredients, but when it came up, I found that it was a vegetarian braised cold dish made of tofu skin, but fortunately it tasted salty, fragrant and juicy, which was not bad. The dried shredded pork tasted not as dry as Yechun, and the jade siomai was more refreshing but not amazing. The steamed dumplings were juicy, and the tofu skin buns had a soft and bean-flavored skin, which were both quite good. Moreover, when sitting in the antique hall or private room, I would think happily in my heart - this is the home of a wealthy man, not everyone could come in before, so why don’t we eat and drink here - it would make me feel that it is even more worthwhile.

After having a good meal and a few drinks, we started to visit the old house of Lu the salt merchant - because we ate here, we could waive the 20 yuan admission fee, which felt really good.

Perhaps because it was still early, Lushi was the least visited garden in our trip, but in fact, Yiyuan is not very big, and the garden that can be seen at a glance is also decorated with ingenuity. The wisteria flowers next to the library have long since withered, leaving only lush green leaves waiting for the flowering season next year. As for Lushi's residence, it has long been turned into a restaurant. Several halls and private rooms on the second floor are equipped with tables and chairs, and red lanterns along the way guide diners forward. This change cannot be simply said to be unrefined. After all, it is very expensive to continue, maintain and repair the ancient house. In fact, changing a way to make the old house rejuvenate is also a good way to survive.

By Fox-like cat |

After coming out, I was thinking about having dinner at the old house of Lu's salt merchant, and I could visit the old house for free. Good wine is not afraid of narrow alleys. Following the navigation, I walked through a small alley like a slum, and the old house stood in front of me.

People say that the best place to eat is in Guangzhou, but for those of us living in Guangzhou, we really envy the stomachs of people in Yangzhou. The morning tea at Lu’s house is very delicious. You don’t have to order the set meal. You can order a few dishes yourself to try. I still miss the taste after several years!

The taste of the morning tea made us very satisfied with this adjustment. The morning tea at Lu's house may seem simple and ordinary to you who are well-informed, but for our taste, it is really salty if it is a little more, and bland if it is a little less - just right! We did not order a set meal, but ordered a bowl of purple rice porridge and a plate of hot dried bean curd. We were determined to skip lunch and go directly to He Garden and West Lake. The rest of the order was all kinds of buns: P Wu Ding buns, tofu skin buns, wild vegetable duck meat buns, the more you chew, the more delicious it is, so delicious that you want to pack it up! :) On the contrary, we both felt that the most expensive crab roe buns were too oily.

The meal was very satisfying. You need to wait until 9 o'clock to buy tickets for the courtyard of Lu's house. We didn't wait and just strolled around the small backyard.

A highly recommended place for morning tea!

We may have arrived early, being the first to arrive that day. The auntie in the restaurant was very enthusiastic in recommending and introducing us, and we felt very at home.

Like.

Then about the dishes.

==Carrot peel==

This is a very common side dish for porridge, but it is surprisingly delicious, crisp and refreshing. I even packed an extra portion when I left.

==Three Fresh Stewed Noodles==

The ingredients are very rich, so the noodle soup is destined to be very delicious. The noodles are also the texture I like, chewy, not soft.

==Side dish meat==

The color, taste and texture are all excellent. My grandfather's favorite dish, and he always wants to take it away after eating it.

But I always feel that there is a taste of lovelessness, so...

==Five-Ding Bao==

Recommended! I especially like the bamboo shoots in it, which brings out the flavor.

==Blanched Dried Threads==

The dried shredded vegetables were a bit limp when served at the previous two meals, but this one was definitely not like that. And it didn’t have the beany smell that I hate. It was delicious.

==Steamed Dumplings==

This is also a dessert that the store highly recommends. Maybe the store described it so well that I didn't feel impressed when I tasted it.

==Siomai==

A very filling snack. Very delicious! For someone who has only tried fresh meat and glutinous rice dumplings, I was amazed after taking a bite.

The ingredients are very substantial.

It used to be the residence of a salt merchant, and later it was used as a restaurant for morning tea and dinner. The quaint environment makes people feel very comfortable as soon as they enter the door. There are both set meals and a la carte options, and the price and taste are good. The waitress also enthusiastically recommended us, but she was also considerate of the customers and didn't let us order too much and couldn't finish it. The morning tea period ends at 10 o'clock, and there are few people after 9 o'clock. It's quite quiet. There is also a small garden in the backyard, which can be used as a miniature garden for a walk after morning tea. Overall, it's great! !

By Da don't walk |

A strange scenic spot with eating as the main thing and sightseeing as the secondary thing. It is not open to the public during the three meal times of morning, noon and evening. If you go at the wrong time, you have to wait at the door. If you eat, you can save the admission ticket, but you can't order dishes. They are all fixed sets, which are very expensive at noon and dinner. The breakfast is said to be the most delicious and cost-effective of the three meals. Many people have good reviews for the 28 set meal, but there are many people, so you have to go very early in the morning.

By Still wanting more |

Went there for breakfast, and after the meal you can stroll around the ancient house garden. Breakfast time is 7:00-10:00. Go early to queue up and get a number, people will start queuing up after 6 o'clock. Individual guests are not accepted for reservations, because there are only 12 tables of varying sizes, so the first batch will have 10 or so numbers, and the rest will have to wait. They also have private rooms that can be reserved, which are large tables for 10 people, and the number of diners is more than 8. I ordered crab roe soup dumplings, five-piece buns, jade siu mai, steamed dumplings, meat buns, black rice porridge, and boiled dried shredded pork, all of which tasted good. The environment is also good, imagine what it feels like to eat in a mansion. Haha

The Lu's ancient house is very close to He Garden. It was the residence of a big salt merchant in the past, so it is naturally very magnificent. Now it has become a restaurant, and it is said that the morning tea business is extremely popular. After dinner, you can go to the back garden. Although the garden is small, it has pavilions and towers, which are very exquisite. When I walked in, I found that the area is indeed not small. It extends inwards one by one, which reminds me of the phrase "how deep is the courtyard". The front hall is a very large hall. It is said that it could accommodate hundreds of seats in the past, and it was called "Baiyan Hall". And behind the house, there is a garden called "Yiyuan". Although it is very small and exquisite, it is like a sparrow that is small but has all the internal organs, with rockery, towers, clear water, swimming fish, corridors, etc.

It was six in the morning when we first arrived in Yangzhou and it was raining heavily. We had planned to go to the Lu's ancient house. The breakfast was a la carte (five-cube buns, meat buns, steamed dumplings, crab roe soup buns, hot dried shredded vegetables, black rice porridge) for a total of 73. I dare not say it was delicious, but it was appropriate and the service was excellent. It was a great relief for two hungry people. The entrance to the Lu's Salt Merchants' Ancient House is on the south side, and the entrance for morning tea is 50 meters north, facing east. The order will be issued at 7 o'clock, so it is recommended to come early after 6:30 to queue up.

Mixed vegetables are one of the pickled vegetables that I often ate with porridge when I was a child. This time I ate it at Lu's breakfast tea, and I felt that the taste was not too salty, very refreshing, just right.

The hot dried bean curd is made of only dried bean curd, which is very light, different from the boiled dried bean curd. The two side dishes we ordered came quickly, but the other dim sum took 20 minutes to come. Maybe it was the first batch of customers, as the dim sum such as the buns seemed to have just been put into the pot.

Crab roe soup dumplings seem to be liked by many people online, 20 yuan each, but our whole family doesn’t like them. We prefer sanda buns and steamed dumplings.

The vegetarian sausage is still light, but I think it’s just right, I personally like it.

This is the mansion of an ancient salt merchant in Yangzhou. Sitting in his living room and drinking morning tea, I suddenly feel elegant and classy.

Crab roe soup dumplings, this is not for eating, but for sucking. Pick up the straw on the side, gently poke a small hole on the surface of the soup dumpling, suck it, the fresh and smooth soup is very satisfying. Exquisite snacks - thousand layer oil cake, jade siu mai, glutinous rice siu mai. Blood glutinous rice porridge, not bad~

Maybe when talking about Dongyang, everyone will think of Hengdian, but I think Lu's residence is really a place that you must visit, especially for those who love ancient architecture and humanities and history. And the most important point is that Lu's residence is very large but there are very few people. I went there in early August. It can't be considered a peak tourist season, but it is definitely not an off-season. But there were only me and a few other tourists in Lu's residence. There were only two security guards on staff. There is a saying that there is the Forbidden City in the north and Lu's residence in the south, which is still very credible.

The scale is not small, and now it is a hotel that can be visited during the day. The reception hall is very grand, and it is next to the ancient canal. If you like, you can go and have a look.

The Lu's Ancient House is a private courtyard of a salt merchant in the Qing Dynasty. It has a beautiful and quaint environment. Usually, you can only look at the attractions, but now you can sit inside and enjoy the food. I prefer dried silk, Wu Ding Bao, and Jade Steamed Dumplings. They are paired with Yangzhou Green Tea to remove the greasiness and make you eat heartily. But the last 18 yuan crab soup dumplings are really not worth it. Every place has its own specialties. You can't judge whether it is good or bad, but you can only say whether it suits your taste. After dinner, take a walk in the back garden and eat. It turns out that breakfast can be eaten like this.

I was going to He Garden, but I decided to go in and take a look at this place on the roadside. It's more like a restaurant than a tourist attraction. You can't see it during mealtime. There are dining tables in many rooms, which is a bit strange. I came out in half an hour. Fortunately, I had a free ticket certificate. I don't recommend buying tickets by yourself

I didn't go to Yechun, but my friend recommended Lu's Ancient House. Sure enough, the attitude was good, the environment was good, and the morning tea and snacks were very hot. But you must come at 7 o'clock in the morning, because there will be no seats at 8 o'clock.

The Lu's Salt Merchant Residence is the largest and most luxurious residence of a salt merchant in Yangzhou during the late Qing Dynasty. It is known as the "No. 1 Salt Merchant Residence". Now, more and more people know about it because of the morning tea at the Lu's Ancient House.

The main reason is that dining in an ancient house is simply out of reach, but it is possible in Lu's Ancient House. There are many people eating breakfast, and you have to wait for a table. The types of breakfast are basically the same as Fuchun and Yechun, but you can dine here for free, otherwise you need to buy a ticket to visit the ancient house. The internal structure of the ancient house is worth browsing after the meal, which is very enjoyable.

Located in the 1912 block of Yangzhou, the Lu Family Mansion is the largest and most luxurious residence of Yangzhou’s salt merchants in the late Qing Dynasty and is known as the “No. 1 Salt Merchants’ Mansion”. The owner is the business tycoon Lu Shaoxu. The mansion was built during the reign of Emperor Guangxu and covers an area of more than 10,000 square meters. It was opened to the public in 2006 and serves authentic Huaiyang cuisine.

Jade siu mai, wild duck buns and five-dining buns. The five-dining buns are an innovation based on the three-dining buns. They are made of diced ginseng, diced chicken, diced meat, diced bamboo shoots and diced shrimp, and taste delicious.

We went early, and the two girls occupied a table for four (the smallest table). The waiter came up and said with a smile: All your orders are here. Girls: How much? Waiter: Please go to the counter to pay. After the girls paid the bill (actually they had almost finished eating), the head waitress asked us kindly how it tasted. Answer: It was really delicious. Then she smiled and cleared our empty plates beside us. The girls were embarrassed to keep drinking tea, so they went out. When we got to the door, we realized that so many people were waiting for their meals, and it was raining.

The advantage of having breakfast at the Lu's old house is that you can tour the house for free. The taste is so-so. Anyway, the Wuding buns I ate in Yangzhou are not as good as those in Xiaozi's in Shenyang, and the wontons are not as good as those in Zhiweiguan in Hangzhou.

It is worth a visit. It is good to understand the development trajectory of Yangzhou's transportation and the business routes of salt merchants.

It was once the official residence of a wealthy family. It was a quiet morning, and it was so happy to have breakfast. After dinner, you can also take a walk around the house and recall how people lived a hundred years ago.

The crab roe soup dumplings in Lushi are the most delicious, with a strong crab flavor and clear soup. What Yunnan people can't accept is that there is too much black pepper. The whole Lushi dish has too much black pepper. The skin of the soup dumpling is different from our ordinary bun skin. It is not made of leavened dough. After drinking the soup, I bite it open. It is chewy and elastic. I like it very much. The soup dumpling is 20 yuan each, which is also the most expensive among the 5 restaurants. Wu Ding Bao is a leavened bread, which is also the best in Lushi. Lushi's Wu Ding Bao has five kinds of diced ginseng (diced ginseng, diced chicken, diced meat, diced bamboo shoots, and diced shrimp). The taste is distinct, the diced diced is refreshing, but it complements each other and integrates into one, unlike other restaurants' sticky and fuzzy. Vinegar is essential for eating buns, and vinegar is also good in Lushi. The meat is 48 yuan per serving, only half of that in other places. Of course, tea is indispensable for morning tea, but Lushi's green Yangchun tea is bland. Two people just taste it, 138 yuan, and normal meals are about 170 yuan

There are soup dumplings, jade dumplings, three-piece dumplings, and boiled dried shredded vegetables here. I ordered jade dumplings, dried shredded vegetables, five-piece dumplings, and black rice porridge. I always thought that the dumplings here should be at least as full as those in Shanghai, but they are very similar to soup dumplings, and feel flat. No wonder many people order several baskets, and men can eat three or four without any problem

The service attitude is also very good. In summary, the people in Yangzhou are still very kind.

You need to pay a ticket to enter the Lu's ancient house, but after having a good morning tea, no one cares if you go in and take a look. However, there is nothing to see. This kind of house is the same type after seeing it too many times.

The trip to Yangzhou in June started with the morning tea at the Lu's Ancient House. I only knew that Guangdong people have always had the habit of eating morning tea. Before I came to Yangzhou, I didn't know that Yangzhou also had a good morning tea. The Lu's Ancient House is very close to where we live. We walked slowly and saw an ancient blue brick house from a distance. Fortunately, there was no waiting sign. We went directly into an ancient hall to order food, but because we went late, we didn't sit on the ancient carved wooden tables and wooden chairs. It was a pity. A pot of green Yangchun, a few small snacks, and a bowl of hot dried shredded vegetables, Yangzhou's morning tea has more exquisiteness and artistic conception. Yangzhou's soup dumplings are indeed well-deserved. The crab roe soup dumplings are as thin as a plate, and the soup is extremely delicious. It is very interesting to suck it gently with a straw. The thousand-layer oil cake is glutinous and fragrant, not greasy at all. The hot dried shredded vegetables, Wu Ding buns and crab roe buns are not outstanding.

The next day I got up early to have morning tea at Lu's Ancient House, but there were too many people lining up and I was afraid I would miss the 10 o'clock train.

So I went to Dongguan Street to eat and passed by Geyuan

Breakfast is pork kidney Aozao noodles (why is it called this name? It's so catchy and nice)

There were few people in Dongguan Street in the morning. Yesterday afternoon, it was as crowded as Nanluoguxiang (not exaggerated).

The house has a very old style. It is said that it was once the home of a salt merchant and was later renovated. In the Yangzhou area, there seemed to be many salt merchants in ancient times, so I personally feel that the flavor of the late Qing Dynasty is more prominent.

After entering the door, someone led us to the lobby to sit down. It was an antique house. The waiters were all middle-aged aunties, and their service attitude was pretty good. They gave you a menu and told you to order by yourself. It was really not cheap. The four of us ate 189, but we didn’t finish it. The buns were so big, but the auntie said they were small. I was stunned!

As for the taste, haha, I'm a little disappointed. I still like Hong Kong-style dim sum.

After eating, of course you have to go shopping. The characteristic of Lushi is that you can go shopping in the Yi Garden next to it after eating. It seems to be the small garden of this family at that time. It is small and unique, with a very compact layout, making full use of the space.

Although Fuchun is a popular restaurant recommended by many people, Lu's Ancient House has a more private cuisine feel. Because it is both a restaurant and a tourist attraction, this ancient house was a large house of a salt merchant in ancient times, so it has a front yard, a back yard, and a back garden.

Arrived at Lu's Ancient House at 7:30. I then realized that the morning tea at Lu's Ancient House was very popular. The manager said that the morning tea would end at 9:30 and the number would start at 6:30. The number we got at 7:30 was 26, and the number was only called before 5. So, a large group of persistent foodies gathered outside the door and stood outside the threshold waiting. The handsome guy in the first picture is the manager of Lu's Ancient House. He is quite interesting and humorous. It is recommended that persistent foodies who go to Lu's Ancient House in the future stay at the threshold when the number is called, and never walk away, because it will not be available after the time is up. It would be a pity if you miss the number due to your own negligence.

If you want to go to Lu's Ancient House for morning tea, dinner or lunch, if there are more than 8 people, you can book a private room in advance. The breakfast price per person in the private room must be 88! You can call this handsome manager! Manager Wu, mobile phone: 13773538201! Anyway, I think it feels better than Fuchun. It's not very noisy when you go in to eat. It seems a bit quiet and quaint! At 9 o'clock, it was finally my turn to eat with Xiongxiong! Xiongxiong said that he had never queued so long for breakfast! Haha! But the facts proved that our persistence was right!

I ordered a 68 set meal, and Xiong Xiong ordered an 88 set meal! There were so many things! Everything you need, including fruits and tea! I think you won't be hungry for the whole day after eating this meal, and you will be more energetic to play the next attractions! Haha!

The crab soup dumplings were average, but the other dumplings were delicious and big. I like the three-stick dumplings the most, and the tofu skin dumplings! Children who have read Dream of the Red Chamber should know about tofu skin dumplings. Once, Baoyu said that he saw a dish of tofu skin dumplings in the East Mansion, and thought Qingwen would like to eat them! So he asked someone to keep them, but Qingwen didn't get to eat them, but Baoyu's wet nurse got them! Then the story of Baoyu breaking the cup came out! The taste of siomai is a bit light, but it tastes good when dipped in Zhenjiang vinegar! I think Yangzhou dumplings are paired with Zhenjiang vinegar, and the two complement each other.

After a full meal, you can also go for a stroll in the back garden of the Lu’s ancient house!

For breakfast, I took the opportunity to visit and ordered two Lu's steamed dumplings, one Wu Ding bun, one Feicui Siu Mai, one Lu's fresh meat bun, one double mushroom and vegetable bun, one shredded radish bun, a portion of blanched shredded vegetables, and a bowl of black rice porridge. It cost less than 30 yuan and tasted great. Except for the porridge left over (I really wanted to save room for the buns), I finished all the rest. I admire myself a lot.

Let's go to Lu's Ancient House~ We live nearby~ There was a queue at 6:50~ It seems that they were fooled by Dianping~ I thought our behavior of queuing was stupid, but when we came out after dinner, we saw more people waiting for a table outside~ I was immediately unkindly happy~ Hehehe~ We went in to order and waited for a long time~ Our square table can accommodate 8 people, and we thought that others would share the table with us, but in the end, no one did~ But we are all OK~

The left basket is jade siu mai (shepherd's purse) and a sweet steamed cake (I forgot what it's called), the right basket is 2 glutinous rice siu mai (9 o'clock and 7 o'clock), a Lu's meat bun, a three-diced bun, and a mushroom bun. The most worthwhile one is the glutinous rice siu mai, 2.2 yuan/piece. The porridge is 4 yuan~ a total of 25.1 yuan~ I'm so good at ordering~

The Lu's Ancient House is now a restaurant. It used to be a big house of a salt merchant named Lu. If you don't go in for breakfast, you need to buy a ticket to visit, which seems to be about 20 yuan. You can visit for free after eating. Breakfast for two people is 35 yuan in total. Wu Ding Bao, Lu's Meat Bao, Sanxian Braised Noodles, Jade Shaomai, Thousand Layer Oil Cake, White Rice Porridge and Black Rice Porridge. I think the breakfast looks very high-end, but the price is still acceptable. It is not recommended to order a set meal, but it is more affordable to order what you want.

Four-happiness dumplings, meat, red bean paste, black sesame, and vegetables. The meat tastes weird and I can't hold it.

The Lu's old house is located in the 1912 leisure district. Nanjing also has a 1912 district, a bar street, and the buildings are also a view during the day. I don't know what the connection is between the two. After arriving at 8:30, I was surprised to find that the queue of people in the restaurant was no less than that of Yechun Tea House. The waiter told me that if I didn't make an appointment, I would have to queue for more than an hour to get a number, and breakfast would be stopped at 9:30, so I might not be able to eat. I decisively gave up the idea of eating. However, in addition to the restaurant, the Lu's old house is also a small garden. There are not many people in it, and the scenery of the small courtyard is also pleasant.

By From then on, I fell in love with walking at night |

We chose the Lu's Old House, just to have breakfast and see the old house for free. We ordered a 60-plus-yuan meal, but to be honest, it was a bit disappointing. It included a cup of green tea, various vegetarian and meat-filled buns, fried cakes, and hot dried bean curd. For someone like me who has lived in the south for many years, I have eaten and seen them all, especially the cakes. Isn't this the thing I ate for four years in college? In short, if you are from the south, morning tea is strongly not recommended, but otherwise, you can still try it.

By YaYa Red Sea |

Maybe we are from the north and are not used to the specialties recommended on the Internet. They all feel sweet! Especially the pork with a price of 38 yuan is bland and tasteless, very similar to the pork with belly in Luoyang! But not as delicious as the pork with belly! Another thing I am not used to is that their plates and bowls are so small! I have experienced this since last night! I recommend their three-fresh stewed noodles, big boiled dried shredded vegetables! Lu's steamed dumplings, jade siu mai! The two children like the big boiled dried shredded vegetables and drink the big soup bowl! Hahaha!!! Except that the service is a bit slow because of the good business! Everything else is good! A morning tea lasts until half past ten! ! And finally there are take-away buns!!!

The quaint house has a delicious breakfast. Most importantly, it is really quiet. When you close your eyes, you feel like you are in the home of a wealthy businessman from that dynasty.

The morning tea is excellent!!! It is best to go early on holidays and go in as soon as it opens at 7 o'clock. You may have to wait a long time...

You must try Huaiyang cuisine when you come to Yangzhou. The introduction on China-TravelNote is absolutely correct. This is a very good choice! ! Delicious food and beautiful scenery, perfect morning tea! !

The Lu's Salt Merchants' Ancient House is known as the Huaiyang Cuisine Museum. The Huaiyang Cuisine section of A Bite of China was also filmed here! !
