Phoenix Mountain

Phoenix Mountain is one of the four famous mountains in Fengtian. It is known for its steepness and is praised as the "National Gate Mountain", "The First Mountain of the Great Wall", and "China's First Mountain for Adventure".
The summer is quiet and cool, with a pleasant environment, making it a famous summer resort in Liaodong. In October, the mountains are covered with red maples, making it an ideal place to enjoy the autumn leaves.
The tranquil springs and caves are also a feature of Phoenix Mountain. Ancient caves such as Phoenix Cave, Three Churches, and Yipindongtian are winding and deep.
There are also temples such as Sanguan Temple, Ziyang Temple, and Guanyin Pavilion dotted on the mountainside. Many believers come here to pray for blessings every year, and the incense is very popular.
The Phoenix Mountain Temple Fair is held on the 28th day of the fourth lunar month every year. It is mainly to commemorate the Medicine King Sun Simiao. There are folk religious activities such as the Medicine King's tour of the city and sacrifices to the Medicine King.

It's a great place for hiking. A taxi from Fengcheng East Station to the scenic area costs 20 yuan. It's off-season now, but I heard that shared rides are available for 10 yuan during peak season. The fare from the scenic area entrance to the ticket office is also 10 yuan. The cable car wasn't operating in March, so there were very few people on weekdays. The hike took a total of 5.5 hours. It's worth noting that the plank road is incredibly well-maintained and very long, making it challenging for elderly and children to climb. However, you can take a sightseeing bus along the plank road for stunning views, so it's best to visit during peak season. Tickets for the glass plank bridge are 60 yuan, and there's also a separate road nearby. Overall, the attraction is well worth visiting.

I went there in winter, and the mountain wasn't open to the public. I found a small path up, but I almost couldn't get down. It was all covered in ice and snow, and I couldn't find the path. The icy areas were slippery and impossible to walk on. Fortunately, I had a good sense of direction and managed to carve a path out of the snow, leaving animal footprints all along the way. The scenery was very steep, and some of the paths were just wide enough for one person to walk on the ridge. If you weren't careful, you could easily fall down. Actually, the area doesn't look very large from the top, but it's still very winding and difficult to walk on.

I first visited Phoenix Mountain in 2014, and five years later, I went back. It's completely changed, even better. The mountain remains the same, but the scenery is completely different. My second visit was with a colleague's sister. We traveled from Shenyang to Fengcheng, taking a taxi from Fengcheng Station for about 20 yuan to the base of the mountain, where we purchased our tickets. It was drizzling that day, and the air was incredibly fresh. Stepping off the train and breathing in the fresh air was breathtaking. Climbing to the summit, the mist shrouded the mountain, creating a fairyland, a cool, not-too-hot atmosphere. I felt the trip was truly worth it. Since it wasn't a weekend, Phoenix Mountain was still packed with tourists, flocking from all directions to take in the fleeting views. We experienced the tranquil scenery at the foot of the mountain, the peril of Old Ox Back, the beauty of the glass plank road, the elegant Black Wind Pass plank road, and the thrill of the glass bridge. Life is all about adventure. We finished the day and arrived back in Shenyang around 7pm, feeling quite satisfied. I'll definitely go back in the fall to experience the refreshing autumn breeze.

We got off at Fengcheng. It took about 7 hours from going up the mountain to going down the mountain. The scenery was beautiful. It was dangerous to climb up. Don't bring children under 10 years old. There are many places where you need to use your hands and feet. It is worth a visit.

One day is enough. It won't be too tiring. I recommend a tourist route. You can go to Dandong, the Yalu River, the Broken Bridge, and Anton Street on the first day, and then take the high-speed rail to Fengcheng in the afternoon. Home Inn is a good choice. Then have breakfast the next day and go hiking.

Time: May 3, 2019, I arrived at Phoenix Mountain with my father from Dandong.

Transportation: Train or taxi. Take the earliest train from Dandong (departs at 6:33 AM and arrives at Fengcheng East Station before 7 AM). There's a small supermarket to the left of Fengcheng East Station, where you can check in your belongings for 5 yuan for small bags and 10 yuan for large bags. From Fengcheng East Station, take a taxi to Fenghuang Mountain Scenic Area. The taxi fare is 19.5 yuan and takes about 15 minutes.

Tickets and related fees (adults): Tickets 80 yuan/person; Cable car 50 yuan/trip; Scenic area bus ride, 10 yuan/person per section, full pass 40 yuan/person; Glass bridge 60 yuan/person.

Details: The entire distance from the scenic area to the ticket gate is 3km. It's recommended to take the park's one-way bus to conserve energy. After walking from the ticket gate to Phoenix Square, take the cable car to Rabbit Ear Peak. On May 3rd, I waited in line for over three hours, which was quite exhausting. After finally reaching Rabbit Ear Peak, I queued, stopping every few steps, from Rabbit Ear Peak to Sifang Terrace. Due to the long queue, I went down from Sifang Terrace to Danquan Scenic Area. From there, I took the park bus (10 yuan/person) to the Dujuanpo bus stop. Then, I hiked clockwise around the Heifengkou plank road to the glass suspension bridge, taking photos on the bridge to mark my visit. Afterwards, I returned to the Dujuanpo bus stop via the Heifengkou plank road and purchased a 40 yuan/person all-access sightseeing bus ticket directly to the scenic area entrance. (For those who are a little confused, please refer to the uploaded route map.)

Summary: I thought arriving at the scenic area at 7:30 AM would allow me to skip the lines, or at least avoid waiting so long. However, I underestimated the enthusiasm of the large group of hikers. The taxi driver told me that many people started entering the mountain at around 4:00 AM. I had originally planned to hike the highlights of Phoenix Mountain (Lao Niu Bei, the Glass Plank Road, and Baibu Jin) but had to give up due to the crowds and the need to catch the high-speed train home that evening. Therefore, if you're planning to visit Phoenix Mountain, avoid traveling during holidays if possible. The crowds and long waits are enough to significantly reduce your experience. For details, please refer to the uploaded route map (originally a single image, but the website can't display the entire image, automatically cropping the middle portion, so I had to upload two images: the outbound leg in red and the return leg in green).

Although Phoenix Mountain is very dangerous, we still chose the most difficult route. We were very happy to climb it, and the scenery was super beautiful.

Phoenix Mountain is located north of Dandong City and on the southern outskirts of Fengcheng. The mountain boasts numerous scenic spots, and the scenery is particularly stunning in summer and autumn. The terrain is quite steep, so a visit here requires more than half a day. Since there are few good accommodations on the mountain, a day trip is generally recommended.

The scenery is good, very steep and very exciting, but you should avoid going during the Golden Week because there is only one road to go. Overall it is good and better than many 5A scenic spots.

It's fun! So much fun! A natural exploration park! Go on weekends, up West Mountain, there aren't many people, so you can just hang out. It combines rock climbing, autumn viewing, and mountaineering.

It's a surprising place. Mountains like this are rare in the Northeast. Be sure to be well prepared when you go there. The mountains are very steep and dangerous.

After reading numerous travelogues, I assumed my husband and I wouldn't be able to climb Old Ox Back and reach the glass plank bridge with our limited physical strength. To our surprise, we joined the crowd and slowly, slowly, made it to the finish line! We chose the weekend of September 1, 2018, expecting fewer people. But there were more people than expected, from babies in strollers to adults over 70. I even saw mothers climbing with their children (I have to emphasize the power of maternal love here; everyone was saying how amazing!). Climbing Old Ox Back requires not only your feet but also your arms, pulling yourself along a narrow path with no steps! For someone as timid as me, the climb was nearly heart-wrenching, but there was no turning back, which was a good thing; otherwise, I wouldn't have made it to the finish line. 🤦‍♀️ We drove from Shenyang to the Phoenix Mountain ticket office (with parking, 15 yuan per car). After purchasing our tickets (80 yuan per person), we took a sightseeing bus to the ticket gate (10 yuan per person). From the ticket gate to Phoenix Square, you can walk or take a sightseeing bus (an additional 10 yuan per person). We opted for the hike. After arriving at Phoenix Square, you can continue up the mountain on foot, take a sightseeing bus to the top, or take the cable car to the next stop, Lao Niu Bei. Considering our energy levels, we opted for the cable car. The line for the cable car took over 30 minutes, with two people per bus. Once we arrived at the station, it was the arduous climb. It was thrilling and fun, and the banter with the other travelers was quite entertaining. The first light of day is visible when you reach the glass plank road (5 yuan per person, wear shoe covers), and then you continue up and down. Once you're on the flat wooden plank road, you're almost there. The glass plank road costs 60 yuan per person, as shown in the second picture. For someone with persecutional complexes like me, stepping on it makes me want to kneel down 😂... I completely forgot about science and always felt like the glass would fall...

Finally, I want to say a word to those who want to come but don't dare to: Don't be scared by what others say about Phoenix Mountain. Even if you can't climb to the top, it is worth seeing it with your own eyes and experiencing it. After all, only if you have experienced it yourself can you be qualified to comment on it. Otherwise, you can only say "so and so went there and said this and that."

Natural beauty needs no eloquent description. Only by experiencing it firsthand can one truly appreciate its wonder and uncanny craftsmanship. Under the power of nature, humans can carve paths through impossible situations. It may seem like conquering, but in reality, they are simply accepting nature's gifts.

This trip to Dandong was incredibly enjoyable. Our first stop was Phoenix Mountain. Mountains in the north differ significantly from those in the south. I've climbed Lushan Mountain in the south and my teacher's own Wild Tea Mountain before. The Wild Tea Mountain trip, led by a local farmer, was the most treacherous mountain I've ever climbed. Now, I think it's still considered dangerous even in the south (mainly because it's undeveloped). Dandong's Phoenix Mountain is also quite famous in the Northeast. Its most famous section is the "Old Ox Back" trail, which is truly thrilling. Then there's the Glass Plank Road (I'm not afraid of heights, so I wasn't bothered). There are many forks along the way, and visitors can choose their own level of difficulty. Be careful not to get lost. I went back once, but luckily my companions called me back. Don't give up at the cable car station; the excitement is yet to come. Another important point: avoid the "Skywalk" route (check your ticket for a mountain map). It's too long, and the scenery isn't as good as you'd expect. I regret choosing the steeper, more handrail-free route (Juxiantai - Shuanglongbei - Xianrenzuo). The rest is up to you; I can only say it was a worthwhile trip. (Remember to bring plenty of water; at least two bottles per person, three is not excessive.)

The process of climbing the mountain is very joyful, and you can feel the wonders of nature.

By fishingis |

Extremely dangerous and thrilling! Absolutely fun! A paradise for rock climbers! We went in the summer. From the base of the mountain, climbing up, there are many trees and lots of flies. The more you sweat, the more flies there are, and they even fly into your eyes. I recommend bringing some toilet water; I finally understand why cows always wag their tails. The whole way up, I fanned myself with wet wipes. There were so many bugs. We arrived at the ticket office at 5:00 AM, but there was no one selling tickets and no tour buses. We climbed for an hour to the ticket gate. The sightseeing bus left at 6:00 AM, so I recommend taking the bus to save energy. Adult tickets are 80 RMB, and those with undergraduate IDs and below are half price. It's a great value. I got up early to climb the mountain. The mountain was shrouded in mist, and I felt like I was in The Smiling, Proud Wanderer. A wonderful attraction was the Phoenix Cave. The cave was slippery and narrow, and people with claustrophobia were wary. I think stampedes are more likely to happen when there are many people. The cave entrance is not at the end, and the end is blocked, which gives people a sense of despair. I just want to get out quickly, but there are big rocks all around, and the cave is extremely narrow. In fact, the exit is in the middle, and you have to climb towards the sky. It's a feeling of rebirth, and then we arrived at the plank road. The sun came out, and there were fewer flies, but it started to get hot. The sweat I shed along the way was equivalent to taking several showers. Applying sunscreen was useless, and I still had to use physical sunscreen, hats, ice sleeves, gloves, and plenty of water. They will replenish a lot of water and be excreted through sweat. There are also small shops on the mountain, and water costs 8-10 yuan a bottle. Basically, the sweat made my whole body wet. The whole climb was a mountain climb. We climbed about five or six, then reached a 4-star difficulty trail. There were forks, and we could choose a 2-star difficulty. We chose the 4-star route, which was truly rock climbing. Some of the cliffs and the ground were at sharp angles. In some places, there were no guardrails, only metal rings, which scraped our knees. Wearing long pants was recommended. I always regretted choosing the difficult route, but every time I succeeded, I felt the joy of surviving. Then we went to the Calf's Back and Old Cow's Back trails, which involved walking along the mountain ridge. The Old Cow's Back trail was particularly dangerous, slippery, and difficult to walk on. The glass plank road was quite interesting, and the section from the glass plank road to Tianya Haijiao was also quite dangerous, walking along the cliffs. Finally, we took a zipline to the Black Wind Pass plank road. The zipline cost 40 yuan per person, and we flew over the forest for about a minute. Afterward, we arrived at a small pavilion to rest and eat. It was around 11 o'clock. From then on, we continued on the Black Wind Pass plank road. The entire route was flat, with little climbing involved, and the scenery was beautiful. We then reached a fork in the road. You can go to the glass suspension bridge (50 yuan per person) or go down the mountain. We were tired, so we opted for the 40 yuan per person tour bus that took us directly to the ticket office, which was a good deal. We then took a taxi back to the city. The morning taxi was 7 yuan, and the return taxi was a flat 10 yuan. Since taxis were scarce and the weather was very sunny, we decided to take the taxi. The Hanting Inn at the train station was very clean. The meat pies at the entrance were delicious in the morning, 2 yuan each. I bought three and ate them while climbing. I couldn't get enough (๑˙ー˙๑). I'll definitely hike Phoenix Mountain again. It's thrilling and exciting. You can come on weekends. Fengcheng is also very livable.

We hiked the medium loop at Phoenix Mountain, which most people choose. This route takes the cable car to Jiangjun Peak, Rabbit Ear Peak, Old Ox Back Peak, and Arrow Eye Peak. The cable car costs 50 yuan. It was a weekend, so it was very crowded. The climb up the steep peak was very slow, and we had to wait in line. It took us four hours in total. If you're short on time or have limited stamina, you can opt for the medium or small loop. If you have the opportunity to hike the full loop, a day is more than enough.

Beyond the oxback is the glass plank road, which takes one minute to walk through. The ticket price is 5 yuan. It's not scary at all, just average. If you don't want to take the glass plank road, there are other ways to get there.

The origin of Phoenix Mountain is said to be that Li Shimin heard that there was a phoenix in this place, so he came here to check in, and since then, this mountain has been called Phoenix Mountain.

Known as the "No. 1 Mountain in Northeast China," Phoenix Mountain, while not high in altitude, boasts stunning scenery, though some areas are quite steep, earning it the nickname "Little Huashan." The most convenient way to reach the mountain is by train to Phoenix City, then a taxi to the foot of Phoenix Mountain. We recommend arriving early in the morning, allowing ample time for the hike along the ridge, followed by a sightseeing bus to the main entrance. It's a truly worthwhile experience!

Phoenix Mountain in April... accompanied by the falling snow during the Qingming Festival... looked particularly stunning... The mountains were shrouded in mist... I felt completely enveloped in a sea of clouds... ❄️ The fluttering snowflakes... kept my focus on the ground below... It was so steep and precipitous... It's chilly at the top... The temperature dropped as we climbed... The road became slippery and icy... But we wanted to explore it all, so we continued our climb... We chose the 4-star difficulty route to reach the beacon tower. It looked like there was only enough space for one person, but many people conquered it... a challenge and a breakthrough in our hearts... As the road became increasingly slippery and icy... The snow fell relentlessly, and the wind blew fiercely... I slipped several times... For safety's sake, we didn't continue climbing and stopped at the beacon tower. Thank you for your company... Thank you girls for your help... Although we haven't met, you two are so loving. You will definitely be the happiest versions of yourselves... Love is everywhere... The most beautiful scenery is when you are by my side... Accompanying me to see the scenery along the way ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I went there during the National Day holiday in 2017. There were so many people and the queue was too long, but the scenery was pretty good. The mountain was a bit steep, but the scenery was really nice in the evening before the sun set.

I haven't climbed many mountains, and I only have the opportunity to climb mountains in the Northeast. But this Phoenix Mountain is super beautiful. The mountain is very big and dangerous. There are temples of various religions in the mountain. There is a glass and wooden plank road on the top of the mountain. Because my companions were too timid, they couldn't stand it halfway up the climb, so we didn't go to see the glass plank road. By the way, Phoenix Mountain in Huangshan, Northeast China is not suitable for children to climb. Some places are vertical and very dangerous. Moreover, the number of people during holidays should be no less than that of several famous mountains in China.

I went to Phoenix Mountain on May 1, 2015, but I didn't climb up because there were too many people on May 1 and the number of people was limited. According to legend, Phoenix Mountain is worth a visit and has a glass plank road!

Phoenix Mountain, one of Liaoning Province's four famous mountains, isn't as renowned as Anshan's Qianshan, nor is it the largest, highest, or most culturally rich mountain in the province. However, it's my favorite and considered Liaoning's number one mountain. It combines grandeur, danger, seclusion, unique beauty, and a breathtaking scenery. Its precipitousness is particularly striking, and the scenery and climbing experience rival those of the famous mountains and rivers of the south. Important Tip: Always take an eco-friendly vehicle to conserve energy. Unless you're traveling with children and are in good health, it's recommended to avoid taking the cable car, as you'll miss out on the stunning scenery. The scenic views along the West Mountain Skywalk are stunning, and the newly built glass suspension bridge on East Mountain are recommended for limited time. Pre-climbing: Lightweight, breathable hiking shoes, casual or athletic clothing, a pair of thin, breathable gloves, and a medium-sized backpack with enough food for the climb. Remember not to carry too much luggage in a large backpack, as this can hinder your stamina. Many sections require scrambling with your hands and feet, and a large backpack can be inconvenient. The main thing you should pack is mineral water. It's recommended not to bring overly sweet drinks. It's best to bring a few bars of chocolate to replenish your energy and calories. Bread and sausage are staple foods, and snacks and fruit are limited. These are available on the mountain, although they're a bit expensive, but considering they're all carried up from the foot of the mountain, the price is acceptable.

I've climbed the mountain many times, and it takes only 4-5 hours to complete. It's suitable for all ages, and the scenery is also nice. Also located in Liaoning Province, it's more interesting than Qianshan, with some slightly steeper routes, a glass plank road, and the slightly more adventurous Lao Niu Bei (Old Bull Back), which is closed until April.

By Qin Er Zuo Yue |

It's worth a visit. Although it's not a magnificent view, the steep mountain road is really worth climbing. It's best not to take the cable car, as you may miss many challenging places.

Dandong Phoenix Mountain is located in Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province. It consists of two major scenic areas, East Mountain and West Mountain. The highest peak, "Zanyun Peak", is 836 meters above sea level and covers an area of 182 square kilometers. It is known as the "Famous Mountain at the National Gate", "The First Mountain of the Great Wall", and "The First Mountain for Adventure in China".

During the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin, toured this mountain on an eastern tour. He heard a legend about a phoenix paying homage to its ancestors, leading him to name it "Phoenix Mountain." Later, to intimidate vassal states and prevent them from betraying the Tang Dynasty, Xue Rengui, then the "King of Suppressing Liao," unsheathed his Heaven-shaking Bow, pegged a Cloud-piercing Arrow, and fired it from Fajianling, forty miles from Phoenix Mountain. The arrow pierced the mountain and fell into the Yalu River, leading to the legend of "the divine bow strikes the target, and a single arrow conquers Liaodong," a tradition that stretches over 1,300 years.

Dandong Phoenix Mountain consists of two major scenic areas, East Mountain and West Mountain. It is famous for its beautiful natural mountain scenery and unique religious and cultural landscapes.

Dandong's Phoenix Mountain is known for its unique beauty. Its "Underworld's Most Beautiful," "Old Ox's Back," and "A Hundred Steps Tight" are both towering and steep, and possess unparalleled beauty. "Golden Toad Gazing at the Moon," "Crane's Shadow on the Stone Cliff," and "Turtle and Monkey on Pilgrimage" are both lifelike and lifelike.

Dandong's Phoenix Mountain is famous for its gathering of "immortals". The "Immortal Seat" and "Juxian Terrace" are lush and beautiful with their green and red cliffs; the "Buddha Pool" and "Danquan" are waterfalls with a free and elegant look; the "Golden Turtle Seeking Phoenix" and "Arhat Face" are misty and ethereal, and appear to be naturally formed.

Dandong's Phoenix Mountain is becoming more and more famous for its "Taoism". Since the early years of the Hongzhi period of the Ming Dynasty, Taoist buildings such as the Ziyang Temple have been built along the direction of the mountains and rivers, covering an area of several miles. The Taoist atmosphere is strong, the Taoist realm is obvious, and the mysteries are hidden.

Ancient temples like Chaoyang Temple, nestled between mountains and rivers, are magnificent. Their three-story hall houses the world's only statue of the True Dharma Bright Tathagata Buddha. The sound of morning bells and evening drums echoes the melodious sound of Zen, attracting countless devout believers and worshippers, whose offerings have lasted for millennia.

Dandong Phoenix Mountain has pleasant scenery and is the best choice for people to relax, appreciate nature, and explore.

Phoenix Mountain is a must-visit for hiking enthusiasts! The hands-and-feet climb, the mysterious Phoenix Cave, and the 3,000-meter-long Black Wind Pass plank path are all unmissable. Remember to avoid holidays, or you'll miss the thrill of the Old Bull Back Trail!

By Bighead carp |

It's worth a visit. The scenery in Xishan is more beautiful. When the autumn wind blows, red leaves are all over the mountain. It's a very nice place.

By kunair |

This is a fantastic mountain. The scenery is stunning to begin with, and the autumn colors of red and yellow leaves are truly stunning. A day is enough to hike from Dalian! However, in places like Laoniubei, visitors can only pass through one at a time, which can be congested. So, we recommend hiking early! It's not suitable for the elderly or children, as the trail is quite treacherous!!!

I used to think that scenery was better from afar, so I never considered provincial attractions when traveling. This time, due to time constraints, I stumbled upon Phoenix Mountain, and I was pleasantly surprised and incredibly rewarding. I explored the entire climb on foot, and every peak was challenging, with many near misses. I posted photos of my climb on WeChat Moments, and many friends mistook it for Mount Huashan—you can imagine how steep it is. The scenic area is very safe, so I wasn't too scared traveling alone. The sanitation is excellent, and I encountered many staff members sweeping up fallen leaves along the way. My god, leaves fall every day, yet the plank road remains so clean. It really shows how responsible the scenic area is. A thousand words can be summed up in two words: "Awesome!"!!!

Phoenix Mountain is worthy of being called the first mountain on the Great Wall. While not very high, it's quite treacherous and challenging to climb. You're essentially walking along the ridge, with many paths only accessible to one person. Many steps are carved directly into the rocks, and some slopes are almost vertical at 90 degrees. Fortunately, iron railings have been built on both sides of the mountain path, allowing you to climb using your hands and feet. I really admire how the ancients climbed up without railings. Personally, I think that among the three northeastern provinces, Dandong's Phoenix Mountain is definitely worth a visit! Breathtaking, dangerous, and unique, Phoenix Mountain is a mountain I've never forgotten!

Phoenix Mountain in October is in full bloom, with breathtaking autumn colors and the added bonus of hiking, making it a truly worthwhile experience. Remember to wear protective gloves when hiking, as many areas require both hands.

On October 5, 2017, my family visited Dandong Phoenix Mountain. Because it was Golden Week and there were a lot of tourists, we climbed to Rabbit Ear Peak and couldn't get back down because it was crowded. We felt that the emergency management at Phoenix Mountain was terrible. On April 5, 2020, during the Qingming Festival, my family climbed Phoenix Mountain again. Because the COVID-19 ban had just been lifted, there weren't many tourists climbing the mountain. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. Lao Niu Bei, Jiangjun Peak, and Rabbit Ear Peak are very steep.

By Lin Lin |

Don't go to Phoenix Mountain during the October 1st holiday. The mountain is completely blocked. The staff on the mountain stand there like idiots and do nothing. The crowds are so crowded, but they don't help to disperse the crowds. I walked 200 meters on the mountain road for two hours and still couldn't get up. Are they crazy about making money? The mountain road on the peak is so narrow, but people keep going up. Why? What else can I see? The glass plank road is right in front of me. The staff told me that it would take 4 hours to go up and down. It was already 3 pm. What's the fun of this? Officials, why are you not afraid of safety issues? Goodbye Phoenix Mountain, once is enough.

By Yuze |

Phoenix Mountain has a pretty good view. Its unique, steep, and precipitous terrain left a deep impression on me. It's known as the most dangerous mountain in Northeast China and the most adventurous mountain in China! Those who come here to hike must remember to bring plenty of gloves!

We took the bullet train from Shenyang to Fengcheng at around 6:00 in the morning and arrived at Fengcheng East Station at around 7:00. We took a taxi for 10 yuan per person to the Phoenix Mountain ticket office. The normal ticket price was 81 yuan per person. The sightseeing bus cost 10 yuan per person from the ticket office to the mountain climbing site. It was not mandatory, but it could save time. There was not much scenery along this route.

The climb took about four hours from the beginning to the summit, passing Lao Niu Bei (not as steep as expected) and the Glass Plank Road (five yuan per person, about five minutes). Because it was a weekend and the weather was good, there were four or five sections along the way where you might have to wait, as some sections only accommodate one person. The descent took the Heifengkou Plank Road, which offered stunning views! However, the descent was quite demanding on my knees, so after a short walk, I took the sightseeing bus to the ticket office and then to the train station back to Shenyang.

You should bring some fruits and chocolates so you can rest or replenish your energy on the way.

A place I miss almost as soon as I leave. It's made me braver, more resilient, more stamina-boosting, opened my eyes, and even given me a tan two shades darker. I love adventure, I love the unknown, and I love such beautiful scenery. Everyone's guides are so comprehensive, I don't have much to add. I just want to go back and walk Dongshan all over again. I love it here.

The scenery is very nice and also quite steep, it is a place worth visiting.

It's really good, there's no exaggeration in the publicity. I walked around Phoenix Mountain seriously and it felt wonderful...

By Silly Baby |

It's really good, quite thrilling, and the scenery is great, but the cable car is a bit simple. The cable car takes you to Rabbit Peak and starts climbing.

By Yongji |

For those of you who haven’t been there, the newly built glass bridge in Dandong’s Phoenix Mountain was completed on September 22, 2017. Go there again in October, otherwise you will regret it.

By Stroll carefully |

It was my first time climbing Phoenix Mountain. I felt great. It was steep, magnificent, and very safe.

By Lv Dabao |

Very, very good, it's really a pristine place. I even saw squirrels. Children are too young to climb this mountain, and the elderly are too old not to go. It's too dangerous, including some places where you have to walk through diamond head cracks. Remember to buy gloves when you go, otherwise... There are railings around for you and you need to hold on, um... There is a zipline at the top of the mountain, which is recommended. There is also a glass plank road, which costs five yuan and is very short. It's not bad to walk to the middle. It's worth a visit if you like adventure.

Phoenix Mountain is really worth a visit. Phoenix Cave, Arhat Peak, Immortal's Seat, Old Ox's Back, Hundred Steps, Arrow Eye, Glass Plank Road, and Black Wind Pass Plank Road are really beautiful. It is the best place for friends who love hiking. Our family of three spent 8 hours walking, looking around, taking pictures, and taking a rest. The beauty of Phoenix Mountain was in full view.

By Lao Zhou |

This is one of the most worthwhile mountains to climb in Liaoning Province. Those afraid of heights should be cautious. Don't pack too much food, but bring at least three bottles of water. I highly recommend the newly renovated Heifengkou plank road for its breathtaking scenery.

By traces of time |

Climbing Phoenix Mountain is not too tiring, but it is a bit dangerous. There are many tourists and it is not hot on the mountain. My calves kept throbbing at the scenic spots on the left side of the cable car, and I felt like I wanted to pee. It is recommended to take a bus to the ticket gate after buying the ticket to save energy. There are basically no people and few scenic spots in the east area, all concentrated in the west area. It is not recommended to take the cable car during the peak season. The queues are over an hour, and you can visit all the scenic spots on the right side of the cable car in this time. The scenic spots to the left from the cable car are quite dangerous. It is not recommended for the elderly and children to climb because there is no way back. If you don’t want to climb halfway, you can’t go back. There are cliffs next to or on both sides of the passage that can only accommodate one person. Consider it carefully. The glass plank road is very short, and the whole route is very beautiful, provided that you are brave and dare to look down. The 9 kilometers down the mountain are all walking, which is quite uncomfortable for the knees. It costs 10 yuan to take a battery car down the mountain at the ticket gate. It is even more boring to take the cable car down the mountain. In short, it is excellent value for money and recommended.

By Jiang YT |

The scenery of Phoenix Mountain is truly stunning, and the views of the Lingkong Plank Road and the Black Wind Pass Plank Road are also stunning. The glass plank road wasn't as scary as I'd imagined; it was actually quite okay. The air in the scenic area was exceptionally fresh and comfortable to breathe. The downside was the poor guidance within the scenic area. There were no signs between the two descent paths, or they were very unclear. There's a descending path before the glass plank road, but when I asked the staff about the approximate time to descend after crossing the glass plank road, they were told it would only take 40 minutes. However, after purchasing the ticket and passing through, it turned out to be much longer than that. At a particularly dangerous part of the mountain, I saw children in need of their parents' arms and an 80-year-old grandmother. In both cases, they had no choice but to continue walking after reaching the top because they missed the way down, which was very unsafe. I suggest the scenic area improve its management, as it is, after all, a 4A-rated park.

By China-TravelNote users |

It was cloudy at the foot of the mountain, foggy on the mountainside, and rainy at the top of the mountain. The ticket price was ¥80, the glass plank road ¥5, and the glass cable bridge was not open. The Laoniubei and Heifengkou plank roads are must-see attractions. The scenery is amazing when the weather is good! The tour bus charges in sections, and it takes 30 minutes from the foot of the mountain to the ticket gate of the scenic area. I wish all the hikers who are about to go on the tour a happy journey!

By Qiao Sanning |

The mountain is nice and not that big, so if you're quick, it'll take half a day, and if you're slow, it'll be over in half a day. And since it's a mountain, you can experience the fun of climbing. It's worth the climb. Let's go.

We drove to Phoenix Mountain at 7:00 AM. We'd stayed at the Dalishu Scenic Area the night before and had breakfast at the entrance to Phoenix Mountain. We parked our car right outside the hotel, saving us the parking fee. We bought our entrance ticket at 7:30 AM and took the sightseeing bus to the base of the mountain. We then took the cable car up the mountain. Donning gloves, we began our hike. We wanted to see the glass plank road. The Old Ox Back section was a must-go, and it was indeed quite steep. Holding onto the railings, it felt like walking on a mountain ridge, and the scenery was truly rewarding. The glass plank road, just past the Old Ox Back, wasn't intimidating and was a very short distance. Since it was Friday, there were few people, and the cloudy weather was cool and breezy, perfect for hiking. We chose to walk down the mountain. The wooden plank road through the forest was also quite scenic, but the many steps were quite tough on our knees. I felt my legs literally giving out, and I was shaking the whole time. We reached the base of the mountain and took the sightseeing bus back. It was around 12:30 when we came out, which took five hours. Although climbing the mountain was a bit tiring, it felt great to stand on a high place and overlook the scenery. I hope to conquer more mountains in the future.

This place is just great! ! ! ! Important things to say three times! Great, great, great

Time! It is best to go on weekdays or non-holidays, really, there are a lot of people

Weather! Don't worry about whether it's sunny or cloudy, really, each has its own beauty. It was cloudy when I went there, and I was quite depressed when I went there at first. Unexpectedly, when I climbed the mountain, there was a cloud above my head, but there was still a trace of rosy clouds in the distance. It was really beautiful. When I got to the ox back, to be honest, I was fascinated. The continuous mountains, coupled with the clear sky after the rain, are indescribably beautiful.

Equipment! Wear mainly sportswear, as you'll be climbing and digging through crevices (pictured later) (dangerous paths), so don't dress too bulky.

Food! Bring plenty of food and drinks. The shops on the mountain are quite far apart and a bit expensive. Instant noodles cost 15...

Route time! Just follow the route... Haha, there are some dangerous and some slightly flat areas. It's better to set off early, at 8 o'clock, because you don't know how beautiful the next second will be (a bit too fake, but I personally think it's really great)

There are gloves at the bottom of the mountain, and the price is okay, but I recommend buying raincoats online that are not disposable. When I went there, many people asked me where I bought them (maybe it’s a business opportunity)

Thanks to everyone on China-TravelNote for the information. I was on a business trip in Dandong and had half a day to spare, so I decided to hike Phoenix Mountain. I took the train to Fengcheng East and shared a taxi for 15 yuan. I met a companion at the base and took the mountain bus at 12:35 to the base. Except for the 10-yuan bus ride up, I walked the entire way, including the Heifengkou plank road and the descent to the mountain gate, a total of five and a half hours. Back in Dandong, I enjoyed a delicious seafood barbecue. Besides classic attractions like Laoniubei, I recommend visiting Phoenix Cave and the Heifengkou plank road. The glass plank road costs 5 yuan per person. Unfortunately, I couldn't take photos of most of the breathtaking scenery.

By Hong Xiaojia |

The scenery is beautiful and the thrills are adequate, but I have to say the management of Phoenix Mountain is truly terrible. Smoking, cutting in line, and littering are commonplace, and no one is really watching. The public restrooms are also terrible; they don't even close the door when you use them. We waited in line for two hours halfway up the mountain, and for half an hour, we didn't even move. I highly recommend avoiding holidays when planning a trip. Also, a friendly reminder: it's very convenient to take the high-speed rail or train. Get off at Fengcheng East Station and take a taxi to the entrance of Phoenix Mountain for 22 yuan. There are no ATMs near the scenic area or the high-speed rail station, and credit cards are not accepted inside the scenic area, so bring plenty of cash!

By 🌻 Jiang Xiaoya🌻 |

Thrilling! I've been looking forward to this for so long, and finally here! The road is steep, and when we reach certain dangerous areas, there will be staff on the side to direct and assist! I used my hands and feet the whole way and completed it on foot! Perfect ~✌️

The mountain is not high, but it is dangerous. It is recommended to enter the mountain gate and take the 10-yuan sightseeing bus to the ticket office to experience the steepness of Phoenix Mountain all the way. Don't carry too big a bag. A pair of gloves is very necessary. I didn't feel anything on the glass plank road. I didn't take the cable car up the mountain. I experienced the sliding lock at Dujuanpo. The subsequent half-mountainside sightseeing loop was also very good. The further you go, the more beautiful the scenery is. Go down the mountain and hike to the mountain gate. There is a bus stop to Dandong at the door. Poor me, I took a taxi to the city and then took it back. Haha, I stayed in Phoenix City a day in advance and came from Benxi by green train. The driver of the taxi in the city asked you to pay 10 yuan for a taxi to Phoenix Mountain, and he didn't use the meter. Phoenix Mountain is worth experiencing

By Xijie |

The mountain is not high, but the road is steep, dangerous and narrow! The natural scenery is beautiful and the vegetation is rich. Among the artificial landscapes, the glass plank road is worth mentioning, giving people a feeling of being in mid-air. The plank road is wide and easy to pass.

Take the K-line bus from Dandong Station to Fenghuangcheng Station and get off. Then charter a car to the scenic area. You will need to take an electric car to the entrance of the scenic area. The mountain is very steep and the scenery is average. There is a glass plank road that you can try. You can see the whole Fengcheng from the top of the mountain.

By Put the gold in the bag |

It's definitely worth a visit in Liaoning Province. With the glass plank road and glass suspension bridge gradually being built, and the Dongshan Scenic Area being improved, if the surrounding environment and service awareness can be further improved, it will definitely be considered the next 5A scenic spot in the province! 5-star recommendation.

There were a lot of people when I went to Phoenix Mountain. It wasn't like climbing a mountain, you moved up step by step.

By Short Ribs |

I climbed Phoenix Mountain in 2016. It was a bit cold when I went, and I thought it would be less crowded in late October. The roads were incredibly narrow, and the traffic was so congested that most sections were practically impossible to walk on, so I didn't feel tired. The Calf's Back is okay, but the Big Calf's Back is a real pain for those afraid of heights. It was my first time stepping on a glass floor, and I was initially quite afraid of it, but once I got there, I instantly felt braver. It's well-developed now, so the dangers aren't there. Back when there were no railings, just a few metal rings, many people cried while climbing. Those who prefer wild scenery might not be too fond of Phoenix Mountain, but it's definitely worth the climb.

By Eyelashes drowning |

I cycled from Shenyang to Dandong during the National Day holiday and passed by Phoenix Mountain. Since I'd been cycling for two days, my legs were really sore from the hike. The entire journey took about 7-9 hours. I didn't take the cable car, didn't buy anything, and bought food in advance, so the entrance fee was 40 yuan. I thought the scenery was nice. But I hope you avoid crowded areas; some areas can be dangerous and difficult to navigate. Near the end of the mountain, I bought some souvenirs and celebrity photos. Two of them cost 15 yuan, which was OK. Shipping the bike cost 10 yuan. The place you stayed at offered accommodation for 20 yuan a night, with a single bed. The hotels along the way seemed pretty cheap. On the first day, I had a large bed for two people for 20 yuan. It was a place for migrant workers, with no lockable door and a quilt that smelled even after covering myself, but it was cheap. On the second day, I forgot where I was, but I stayed there for 20 yuan each, with a shower. On the third day, I stayed in a village in front of Phoenix Mountain, for 20 yuan each.

Phoenix Mountain is hailed as the "Famous Mountain at the Gate of the Nation" and the "First Mountain of the Great Wall," a reflection of its majestic presence and geographical location. Nestled within the remnant of Changbai Mountain, it is surrounded by the low hills of Liaodong, with an average elevation of less than 100 meters. However, Phoenix Mountain's absolute height reaches 836.4 meters, making it appear even more majestic and imposing compared to the surrounding low, gentle hills. The Great Wall winds its way eastward through this area, resting its head on Tiger Mountain. As the first mountain in the Liaodong section of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall and a crucial stop on the Eastern Silk Road's post roads to Japan and Korea, it commands a commanding presence, commanding a commanding presence that looms large over the world. Furthermore, its towering peak, resembling a sharp sword piercing the sky, offers breathtaking views for hundreds of miles, a testament to its majesty.

Dandong Phoenix Mountain Scenic Area is a national scenic spot. Phoenix Mountain is one of the four famous mountains in Liaoning. It is a famous tourist destination with high mountains, lush forests, waterfalls and springs, majestic scenery, different scenery in each season, and numerous cultural relics and historical sites.

Phoenix Mountain is known as the "Famous Mountain at the National Gate" and the "First Mountain of the Great Wall", which is related to the mountain's grandeur and geographical location.

Phoenix Mountain is located in Dandong City. It is convenient to get off at Fengcheng Station by high-speed rail. It belongs to the geological park. The mountain road is dangerous and very exciting to climb. It is recommended to walk along the Heifengkou in the Xishan Scenic Area. It is very beautiful and feels a bit like Sanqing Mountain.

I'd long heard about Fenghuang Mountain, a mountain in Fengcheng, Dandong, known for its treacherous, unique, and steep terrain. We actually climbed it in April of this year. I remember a light sleet on the day we went, which probably helped us reach the summit because the weather kept the crowds low. I took the train from Changchun to Fengcheng that morning and immediately rushed to my destination. The weather wasn't particularly bad when I got off the train. Someone offered to sell me gloves for three yuan a pair—not expensive, but the climb was worth it. In the end, I had to use my hands and feet, especially due to my physical strength, and the handrails were incredibly cold. A taxi from Fengcheng Station cost ten yuan, and a bus cost three yuan per person. I recommend taking a taxi, but the buses are shabby and the departure times are long. When I arrived at the scenic spot ticket office, a light drizzle had fallen. There were very few people, just a few scattered around. The ticket price was 80 yuan, with student tickets half price. After purchasing my raincoat and heading to Fenghuang Mountain, there's a distance from the ticket office to the ticket gate. You can opt for a ten-yuan sightseeing bus to save your energy for the climb. The scenic area has two routes, divided into the East and West Scenic Areas. The East Scenic Area doesn't offer as many attractions as the West Scenic Area, nor is it as exciting. Only the West Scenic Area offers a glimpse into the sheer ruggedness of Phoenix Mountain. Therefore, the West Scenic Area is recommended. Famous attractions include Phoenix Cave, Guanyin Pavilion, Shuanglongbei, Xianrenzuo, Beacon Tower, Luohan Peak, Rabbit Ear Peak, Shengui Stone, Black Wind Pass, the glass plank road, and Laoniubei. When we arrived at Phoenix Cave, a light rain and snow began to fall. The attentive staff constantly reminded everyone to be careful. It was a cold day, but it was heartwarming. Laoniubei is truly treacherous. If you're worried about your stamina, you can rest at the base and then traverse it in one go. The glass plank road isn't too daunting, and you can rent overshoes for two yuan a pair. During the climb, you can see the entire city of Phoenix beneath your feet, shrouded in mist and clouds, and the scenery is breathtaking. For someone as afraid of heights as me, reaching the summit of Phoenix Mountain was a real challenge. The descent is much easier, with the plank road and the cable car available for 60 yuan each way, giving you the feeling of being in the air. If you like mountains, please come to Phoenix Mountain. If you like water, please also come to Phoenix Mountain. You will definitely not be disappointed.

It is more than 800 meters above sea level and is a relatively famous scenic spot in Liaoning Province. I like its steep and dangerous feeling.

By People who are often ashamed |

Phoenix Mountain is quite interesting. The climb is indeed fun, and the surrounding scenery is also beautiful, but the main purpose is to enjoy the mountain scenery. There are Taoist temples and Buddhist temples, but they were built later and are quite ordinary. I recommend avoiding short holidays and May Day and National Day holidays, as there will be fewer people and the climb will be faster. However, the mountain is indeed steep and requires a certain level of physical strength.

By Huang Xiaowang |

It took an hour to reach Phoenix Mountain from the bus station across from Dandong Railway Station. The entrance fee was 80 yuan, and the shuttle bus was optional and cost 10 yuan per person. The shuttle bus took us to the ticket gate, a distance of about 3 kilometers. It's recommended to take the bus to save energy. After the ticket gate, the area is divided into East Mountain and West Mountain. Most tourists mainly hike the West Mountain area, as the main attractions of Phoenix Mountain are located there, such as the Old Ox Back and the Glass Plank Road. During the National Day holiday, the crowds were quite large, making it difficult to move forward. Most tourists went for the Glass Plank Road, starting at 10:00 am and continuing until 5:30 pm. The Old Ox Back is also quite treacherous and exciting. The Glass Plank Road is 5 yuan per person. Descending the mountain via the Glass Plank Road takes over 20 minutes, and then a shuttle bus takes 30 yuan per person directly to the main entrance of Phoenix Mountain. A visit to Phoenix Mountain is highly recommended.
