In fact, the reason why we come to Erlangjian is that it is the main scenic spot of Qinghai Lake. It was the location of the 151 torpedo base after the founding of the People's Republic of China, so the Erlangjian scenic spot is also called the 151 scenic spot.

When we came to Qinghai Lake in the summer of 2016, we only went to the Fairy Bay Scenic Area and ran around the lake, but we didn't walk the 70 kilometers from Heima River to Erlangjian. Today, we were going to make a circle, but we ran in the wrong direction again.

In fact, Fairy Bay is more primitive and more beautiful.

It is 151 kilometers from Xining to Erlangjian Scenic Area of Qinghai Lake, so it is also called Qinghai Lake 151. Tourist trains only run during the peak season in June, July and August. Self-driving or one-day tour groups can go back and forth, leaving at 6 am and returning at 22 pm.

The good thing about Erlangjian is that you can go down to the lake for free if you go forward from the entrance of the scenic area. Qinghai Lake is still the same place, but the various incongruous fences built by Tibetans along the way are too unsightly. Now everyone wants to rely on mountains and waters and try to cash in. From the perspective of scenery, it's uncomfortable.

Erlangjian Scenic Area is a place you will regret entering. The ticket price is expensive and there is nothing to see. I went there in 2015 and it was not worth it (just my personal feeling). A bowl of ramen without beef costs 15 yuan, and a tea egg costs 3 yuan, which is almost like robbing money.

There is a grassland between the town and the highway with a wooden corridor on it. Some people are camping here with tents. It is a really good place. I asked around and found out that it is free. Friends who have this plan can come.

There is a gas station next to the town. From the road next to the gas station, go south to Nanshan, Qinghai, and all the way to Gonghe County, which is also a good place to view Qinghai Lake. We climbed halfway up the mountain and looked at Qinghai Lake from a distance in an open space. Opposite was the Erlangjian Scenic Area. Unfortunately, the weather was gloomy, and the lake reflected the sky, and not even a trace of blue could be seen.

We just arrived in Xining in the afternoon and headed straight to Qinghai Lake.

When I first arrived at Qinghai Lake, it was cloudy. When I arrived at Erlangjian Scenic Area, it was a completely different scene. Someone exclaimed: Tail Beach!

The lake on the plateau at an altitude of 3,600 meters has clear water, water birds playing, and is relaxing. But it is too big and it is very tiring to walk there.

The tour takes about 2 hours. In the scenic area at the end of July, the Gesang flowers are in full bloom. You can take a carriage or ride a bicycle. Of course, it is also nice to walk. It only takes more than ten minutes to walk to the lake. Qinghai Lake may not be as stunning as Sailimu Lake or as peculiar as Kanas Lake, but its vastness gives us endless imagination.

When we saw the words "Qinghai Lake", we were actually still some distance away from Erlangjian Scenic Area or Heimahe Scenic Area. But as we drove along, we could see a large expanse of deep blue that was different from the sky. That was Qinghai Lake! We didn't go to the scenic area, but found an intersection next to Erlangjian Scenic Area where the road looked very good and we could go down to the lake to take pictures! The local rapeseed flowers were all fenced by herders themselves, and the prices were very uniform. It cost 10 yuan to get off the car and take pictures, 10 yuan to ride a horse, and 10 yuan to ride a yak. Anyway, everything was 10 yuan!

It's good to bring your family to Erlangjian. There are many photo spots, including fat ducks, beaches, hot air balloons, and complete facilities. We spent about an hour and a half strolling around. If you are serious about taking photos or you are independent, you can try to find a quiet wild lakeshore. Even if there are herders, the fees are much lower than the Erlangjian ticket. There are many fenced rapeseed fields on the roadside where you can see the lake in front of the scenic spot. It is the best sea of flowers on this road. It costs ten yuan per person to take photos in the flower fields, and everyone thinks it is worth it.

At 8 o'clock in the morning, we set off for Erlangjian Scenic Area, 77 kilometers away from Xihai City. Because the driver led the way, we could take the small road to enter, and the entrance fee was 30 yuan.

Legend has it that Qinghai Lake was originally a sacred spring. When Erlang Shen Yang Jie was ordered to attack Sun Wukong, he fled to the sacred spring at the foot of Kunlun Mountain to relax. He built a pot and used three white stones to burn fire to cook, but he forgot to cover the pot after fetching water. As soon as he sprinkled salt into the pot, the spring water overflowed into an ocean. Here is a warm reminder that if you want to go to the herdsmen’s homes, you must choose one to enter before arriving at Erlangjian. If you pass Erlangjian, there will be no rapeseed fields. But to be honest, because Qinghai Lake is too big, walking to its shore is like walking to an ordinary seaside, and it is more amazing than sitting in the car and watching from a distance. It feels incredible to look at Qinghai Lake from a distance. Its water surface seems to be higher than the horizon, like a transition section, connecting the earth and the sky, and its blue is so pure and deep.

I had a slight headache and couldn't sleep at night, so I got up at 4:00 a.m. to wait for the sunrise. The sun hadn't risen yet, but there was already a hint of purple in the east. It was so quiet and peaceful.

When the sun suddenly jumped out of the lake, in an instant, the sky and the lake were filled with dazzling golden light.

Although there was sunshine, it still felt too cool at 9 degrees.

The Swan Lake scenic area in Erlangjian has few people and a nice lake. You can see and touch it. While my husband and daughter were pioneering in the mountains, I strolled by the lake for a while and picked up a very complete feather.

The Erlangjian Scenic Area is a bit useless. There is really no need to enter this scenic area. The normal ticket price is 100 yuan, but I still feel it is not cost-effective. After all, there is really nothing to see in the scenic area. It is better to go to the nearby 10 yuan ones (the driver told us not to go but we didn't listen).

There were many people taking the boat, but few people taking the hot air balloon, so there was no need to queue. The hot air balloon here has a hanging basket, and people feel safer inside it than in Shahu, and the experience is different.

If you don't plan to take a boat or a hot air balloon, there is no need to enter the Erlangjian Scenic Area. After all, the ticket is a bit expensive. More importantly, if you just want to see the lake, just find a place with rape flowers on the roadside and give the locals some money. The scenery will be just as beautiful, or even more beautiful outside.

Erlangjian, the main entrance to the Qinghai Lake Scenic Area, is more enjoyable than the man-made buildings, where the water and sky meet and the leisurely scene.
