Hanzhong Shimen Plank Road Scenic Area

Shimen Plank Road should be renamed Shimen Reservoir to be more appropriate, because the expected ancient monuments are either submerged under water or moved to Hanzhong Museum. What I saw was a modern dam reservoir and a viewing plank road. Of course, the scenery is still good, but there are other lakes with good scenery. Another point of complaint is that the road from the gate of the scenic area to the core scenic spot is long, commercialized, and has serious traces of human construction.

I love the Ginkgo Forest anyway. If you are interested in history, you can go there for a walk. Shangba is under construction and you can't go up. The ticket is only 40 yuan. It costs 49 yuan to take the express bus from the city. It costs 2 yuan to take the No. 21 bus back. Turn right after the white bridge and wait for the bus. There is no bus stop sign on the roadside. If you can't find it, it's best to ask the local residents.

There is nothing inside, just a few stone statues. It should be called a reservoir. Whoever goes there will regret it. The ticket is 70 yuan, which is a waste of money. The small train inside is 12 yuan per person. It feels like a scam.

To be honest, I regret coming here. Many places in the scenic area are under construction and I can't go there. The ticket price is still the same. Isn't this a rip-off?

During the National Day Golden Week, there were not as many people as expected.

Shimen Plank Road is a place worth visiting in Hanzhong. It is the famous entrance to Baoxiadao. Unfortunately, the Shimen Reservoir has submerged the Shimen and the plank road. The existing Shimen and the plank road are replicas. Before the reservoir was submerged, the relevant Shimen cliff carvings had been moved to the Hanzhong Museum. When the scenic area was restored, a long antique street was built at the main gate (west gate), which was not authentic. It takes 2-3 kilometers to get to Shimen Pass to the dam. A new plank road was built in the reservoir area. If you drive, you can go to the East Gate, where you can walk a lot less and go directly to the dam.

Instead of entering from the nearest west gate, drive north and go directly to the dam from the east gate, avoiding the nearly 3-kilometer-long antique commercial street and uphill to the dam. This should be the best choice for friends who drive themselves.

Looking down at the rocky cliffs at the mouth of Bao Valley from the dam, one can imagine how steep the Baoxiadao Road was back then. A new plank road several kilometers long has been built beside the reservoir on the dam, so you can just walk around and take a look.

Qiang Lie recommends taking the shuttle bus. I walked for an hour but couldn't get to the point. I couldn't walk anymore. There was no food for sale inside. I was very hungry.

There are lots of garbage, construction sites, and the ticket is so expensive, it costs 80!

From the North Campus of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, we walked along the small road to the west of the Baohe River. We didn't cross the bridge, but walked directly to the west gate of the Shimen Plank Road. We scanned the tickets on WeChat for 78 yuan and bought two tickets. After entering, we walked all the way to the first bridge in front of the dam. The scenery was actually quite ordinary. It was stuffed with myths, Qin Shihuang, Han Wu, the Three Kingdoms, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, and various historical stories that had nothing to do with the Shimen Plank Road. It felt like there was nothing to put in. The dam and several dikes in the scenic area blocked the water. As the water got deeper, the scenery gradually became more interesting.



Walk from the first bridge in front of the dam to the right side (east side) of the river. There is a small waterfall which is really interesting. You can feel it very close and the sound is very loud. It is similar to the pavilion where Yun Ye fooled Yuchi in Tang Brick.

From here you can walk to the bottom of the dam, close to the water surface, where there is a man-made tunnel of dozens of meters, which has not been fully developed and is quite interesting. Return about a hundred meters along the original route, walk to the fork in the road towards Cuiyunping, go up the steps, and walk to the cableway. It takes 30 minutes to get to the other side of the river, and go around the side to get directly to the dam.

It was as if I was in the Li River in Guilin in the picture. The water was so beautiful. I took all kinds of photos, but I didn’t feel anything at all. Walking on the plank road, it felt like walking on the prehistoric stones on the seashore in Dalian. I visited Dalian and Guilin in one go. It was worth the trip!

I walked along the road for a long time, until I doubted my own feet, and finally I saw a store.

15 kilometers away from Hanzhong city is a 4A-level scenic spot, the Baogukou Shimen Plank Road. Since it is a 4A, of course I have to go there, but this lousy scenic spot made me spend 80 yuan in vain, so I just treat it as a 20,000-step walk at home.

This scenic spot is a rip-off. First, the construction of the reservoir destroyed such a good monument. Maybe at that time, it was felt that building water conservancy facilities was far more important than preserving the monument. But when I was playing, I found that the Kuomintang modified the design because the road construction would destroy the monument. As a result, the detour did not destroy the monument. We destroyed the ninth wonder of the world because of a reservoir. I don’t know if it is worth it now. Second, there is now an artificial plank road on the reservoir. All the contents of the scenic area are artificially built. Without any monuments, I don’t know what its meaning is. Third, there is a long section of commercial street after entering the scenic area. The streets and kiosks are deserted, and some are not operated. It is not practical to build so many, which is really a waste of money. From the entrance of the scenic area to the plank road, there are statues like the one in the picture for a long distance. Many of them have no connection with the monuments here, and they are even more meaningless. In fact, it is just a reservoir in the true sense now. Maybe this can be considered a scenic spot!

The scenery is beautiful, but the weather was a little cloudy and cold that day, but after walking the upper section, I didn't feel cold at all. The mountains and rivers are full of historical atmosphere. There are small historical explanations on the road, which is not bad.

Enter from the west gate, and you will see all kinds of Three Kingdoms, Han Dynasty, historical story galleries and various statues, which is a bit boring~ The real scenery is at Shimen Reservoir (the intersection of Shangdao and Xiadao, where you can take a yacht nearby, the price is very high. I wanted to take a yacht to see the lake and mountains, but was scared away by 200 yuan per trip)~ You can see the lake and mountains along the way from Shangdao, but you have to return along the way when you reach the end~ From Shimen Reservoir to the East Gate route of Xiadao, there is a commanding height of Longhu Pavilion, where you can appreciate the beautiful scenery on both sides of Baohe River. It is very strenuous to go up and down the mountain, but the straight-line distance is dozens of meters (it depends on whether tourists have the courage to climb to the pavilion)~ All in all, it is still okay to go to the scenery at the end of February, catch the off-season ticket, 60 yuan~

Baoxiadao, once the best road in Shu, has been submerged due to the construction of Shimen Reservoir in the 1970s. Shimen Plank Road was built 70 meters above the original site of Baoxiadao. This is the place where "repairing the plank road in the open and crossing Chencang in secret" and "Xiao He chasing Han Xin under the moon" took place, and it is also the hometown of Baosi who "played with the princes with beacon fires". Unfortunately, Hanzhong, which is the main attraction of "Han and Three Kingdoms", has only many stories left to imagine.

Take bus No. 21 from downtown Hanzhong and get off at the terminal.

Don't go straight after getting off the bus. There is a long white stone bridge on the left.

There are many antique buildings on the right side of the stone bridge. Go straight and you will reach the West Gate Ticket Office. The adult ticket is 80 yuan. I think it is a bit expensive~

After getting off the bus, there are many black cars soliciting passengers.

They will deliberately point you to the wrong way and ask you to go to the farther east gate. There are no crosswalks along the way. Various vehicles pass by. It is very dangerous... Because I was deceived ~ I am very angry!

The Baoxiang Plank Road was built in modern times. The ancient one has been submerged in the lake due to the construction of the dam. If you don't have obsessive-compulsive disorder, I don't recommend going there~

There are two entrances to the Shimen Plank Road, one new and one old. There were a lot of people that day, and the traffic police were busy directing the flow of people. We entered the scenic area from the old entrance above the dam. The two of us had a great time!

The original Baoxiang plank road has sunk underwater due to the construction of the Shimen Reservoir. Now only 7 kilometers of the plank road have been restored for people to enjoy. When there are few tourists, the empty mountain and the birds singing are very artistic.

I went to Shimen Plank Road when I went to Hanzhong in 2010. It is a plank road built along the reservoir.

Note: Bus No. 21 can go directly to the scenic spot from Hanzhong, but it will stop a few hundred meters away from the scenic spot, which is the terminal. Don't trust the private cars waiting there. They will say that it is still far from the gate. In fact, you can walk to the scenic spot parking lot in five minutes, and then there is the ticket office. There will also be black cars in the parking lot saying that this gate cannot be entered, it is only the ancient town, etc. Don't believe them, just walk forward and ask the parking lot security guard, you will know that the east gate and the west gate are the same, you can visit the scenic spot.

In short, it is a good place for leisure. The mountain is not particularly high and you can take your children there.
