Huashan Skywalk

The Changkong Plank Road is one of the most thrilling attractions in Huashan. A foothold is carved out on a cliff about 2,160 meters high, and there is a deep abyss under your feet.
The entire plank road is divided into three sections, upper, middle and lower, with a total length of about 50 meters. The most thrilling section is the lower section, where visitors must face the wall, fasten their safety belts, and move forward slowly sideways.
At the end of the plank road, you can see Hezu Cave. It is said that this is the place for self-cultivation opened up by Taoist Priest He Zhizhen.
It should be noted that the Changkong Plank Road is a dead-end road, and you must go there and return the same way, which is equivalent to experiencing the adventure twice.

Something happened on the plank road at Mount Huashan before. There were so many people when I went there that day. We had to go up one by one and then come back in order, so we had to wait for a long time and didn't play.

By Sunset Microfilm Fans |

It is recommended to go there directly after watching the sunrise at night so as not to wait in line for a long time!

By Know Autumn |

It's very dangerous. If you have the courage, you must go up and experience it!

By China-TravelNote users |

It is not open now because 2 people died there. I just went there recently, but no one I asked at the foot of the mountain told me anything. You will only know when you get to the top!

The Changkong Plank Road was unfortunately not open due to weather conditions. It was a bit snowy and a little windy. It was a pity.

There are so many people that the queue takes more than 2 hours. It's a very commercial place.

The most popular project in Huashan... there is a long queue waiting~

Everyone is queuing up on the first floor, and the real start is on the second floor below.

Many people like to sit with their feet dangling in the air, or half of their body leaning out. Those who take photos like this are brave!

After passing through Nantianmen, we arrived at the famous Changkong Plank Road. Anyone who is in good physical condition will be eager to try it, even if your legs are shaking when you just stand on the Changkong Plank Road, but I think anyone who has experienced it will never forget it in their life, this is the charm of Huashan's "danger". Huashan is known as "the most dangerous mountain in the world" and it is not in vain. At the beginning, I waited in line honestly, but the friends who went to inquire came back and told us that if we want to experience it, we must wait for at least 1.5 hours. Because there are too many people, some people take pictures on the plank road, and some people are scared and stagnant on the plank road, and the speed is extremely slow. Another reason is that the plank road is put on both sides, and there will be a situation of "meeting cars" (imagine, meeting cars in such a dangerous place, it is actually difficult for people who experience it for the first time, even though everyone is tied with a safety rope). So, in the end, we decided to give up. Although there are regrets, it is not that serious. Because we later successfully challenged another famous dangerous road "Ya Zi Flip" at Dongfeng

Do you see the selfie stick and phone below? I saw them fall that day. Be very careful when taking selfies.

Before entering, you need to register your ID number, name, and phone number, which is probably like signing a life and death agreement! If you are alone, you must have a companion to go.

The person in front paid, and the administrator put on the safety rope. The skywalk is free, and the safety rope is 30, so it is equivalent to 30 yuan to experience the skywalk, only cash is accepted, and online payment is not supported. There is also 50 for taking photos, 70 for two people, and only cash is accepted. When you enter, you only need to pay 30 for the safety rope. When you get to the place where you want to take pictures, you can choose whether to take pictures. Take pictures first and then come here to pick up the photos when you come back, and pay when you pick up the photos.

It was very cold at the time and my hands felt a little frozen. I took off my gloves and carefully took out my phone to take pictures, otherwise the phone would have been smashed to pieces.

There is also a temple here where you can wear the safety rope. The administrator should put the safety rope in this temple every day. In front of the temple, tourists put their bags here and come here to pick them up when they come back. You can see the statues in the temple when you wear the safety rope.

I took the safety rope and was about to start going down. I don't know why, I was a little afraid of heights. When I stood on the edge of the second floor, I was a little scared looking down. But when I got here, looking at the abyss, I was not so scared. Maybe it was because there were so many people! And there were people in front and behind.

I was amazed by the scenery here, it is so beautiful and the scene is much more shocking than the photos.

A little disappointed, not as exciting as I imagined (oops, is this enough words? Is this enough? Is this enough?)

It was not open when I went there due to weather reasons. It is one of the most dangerous places in Huashan.

You need to pay extra to experience the kite flip and the plank road, and you have to queue for a long time. We just watched from the side. I admire those who went to experience it. While watching the plank road, I heard a girl who came back halfway say, "I think it's good to be alive."

By Return from a Thousand Miles |

It's great, you must go there once when you come to Huashan!!

By Sherien |

It was around 2pm when we arrived at this attraction. The queue was very long. Basically, one person had to wait for at least 4 hours. I am a person with a serious fear of heights. When I stand at a height, my feet tremble and numb unconsciously. This is a physiological reaction that I can't control at all. Although I don't want to be so timid, or use reason to tell myself not to fall down and calm down. But it's useless. I can't control myself at all. I didn't dare to open my eyes in the first half of the cable car, let alone these two attractions. I just passed. Some people who come here specifically to experience this are advised to stay overnight and come directly in the early morning. It was really exciting for us to watch from a distance! ! ! My palms were wet just watching.

By Gao Ying |

Following the signboard, we arrived at the Changkong Plank Road. As soon as we entered, we saw a long queue. There was a sign on the wall saying that it would take 2.5 hours to queue here. I asked my friend to queue here and I went to the front to see the situation. It was really scary. I heard that it would take an hour for a round trip, plus the waiting time it would be more than 3 hours. Forget it, we still had to catch the train back to Xi'an, so I called my friend over to see it with my own eyes and left!

The most dangerous path in the world - Huashan Sky Plank Road is located on the east side of Huashan South Peak. It was built by He Zhizhen, the first generation master of Huashan School, in order to get away from the world and practice Taoism. He Zhizhen built it on the cliffs with stone nails and wooden rafters. The plank road is surrounded by cliffs, iron ropes are hung horizontally, and the road surface is about one foot long. The bottom is fixed by stone pillars. Visitors here face the wall and hold their stomachs, holding their breath and moving forward. It is known as the "first dangerous path in Huashan". The Sky Plank Road has a history of more than 700 years. It is the most dangerous of the dangerous paths in Huashan.

By A Hao can't get fat |

I came to Huashan just to play this, but life safety comes first. Don't be greedy to show off when playing without fastening the safety rope. No one likes to appreciate this.

By Boating around the world |

Seeing is believing, the Changkong Plank Road is the most dangerous part of Huashan.

The danger is beyond words for someone like me who is a bit afraid of heights. I can only watch from afar and never dare to step foot on it.

By Fog |

Before we even stepped onto the plank road, we could already feel the danger of the cliff. The plank road is divided into four sections: vertical descent (similar to the turn of a kite), wooden plank road, cliff stone nest, and Siguo Cliff. But in general, it was not as scary as I imagined, after all, there were safety ropes and chains, and the wooden planks seemed to have been replaced and reinforced this year, and they were wide and thick, making it as comfortable to walk on as flat ground.

The venue of Siguo Cliff is larger than expected. It can accommodate a team of 20 people for square dancing, and there is also a small viewing cave.

The scenery is not as steep and magnificent as imagined. Only the three words "Quanzhen Rock" above the head and the ancient pines on the cliff are impressive.

By Clouds roll and clouds fly |

Only when you climb Mount Huashan can you know how dangerous it is. Moreover, this is the most dangerous place in Mount Huashan! You can get close to the cliffs and step on them to feel like you are on the edge of an abyss. O(∩_∩)O Haha~

By Romantic Aristocracy |

The Changkong Plank Road is located on the eastern hillside of the South Peak of Mount Huashan. It was built by He Zhizhen, the first generation master of the Huashan School in the Yuan Dynasty, with the intention of becoming an immortal by meditating in seclusion away from the mundane world. It was built by inlaying stone nails and laying wooden rafters on the cliff.

There are cliffs above and below the plank road, with iron cables hanging across it. It is made of stone slabs to form a road surface about one foot long and fixed at the bottom by stone pillars. Visitors here have to face the wall, hold their stomach, and move forward while holding their breath. It is known as "the most dangerous place in Huashan".

By The world is so big |

The plank road cannot allow too many people to pass at one time, because it is really troublesome for people coming and going to meet each other, and the plank road can only return along the original route, so it takes a lot of time. We arrived here at around 11:30 and began a long wait.

The plank road is somewhat dangerous, but as long as you take protective measures, it is actually very safe.

Basically, people who work on the plank road cannot be over 30 years old, and they need to be in good physical condition, because this job is not like tourists who come here once or twice, they have to work there for a long time every day. I applaud these workers. Everyone should also travel in a civilized manner. Some people throw garbage casually. If you throw it casually, it will be a risk for them. It is really not easy to pick it up with a safety rope.

It costs 30 yuan per person, and you can pay in cash, Alipay, or WeChat. Put your backpack on the ground, the staff will help watch it, put on the safety rope, and set off.

In fact, when walking on the plank road, what I was most worried about was my mobile phone. I had to take pictures, and I also wanted to bring a selfie stick, but I would need to use both hands to hold the chain when necessary. So after weighing the pros and cons, I finally decided to tie my mobile phone to the selfie stick with a rope, and then wear the selfie stick around my neck, so that the phone would feel safe.

To be honest, my feet did start to tremble a little when I climbed down the stairs. There were quite a lot of people, so it took a lot of time because some were going up and some were going down. I strongly recommend climbing with your back facing outwards. If you climb with your back against the stairs, it is not very convenient to see where your feet are.

In fact, at this time, I really will unconsciously hold on to anything in my hand. Note that it is everything! For example, the so-called stairs I am standing on are actually an iron bar and an iron rope next to it. I feel very insecure if I let go.

And because the safety rope cannot be passed all the way through, there are many places in the middle where you need to first unbuckle one buckle and connect it to the rope behind, and then unbuckle another buckle and connect it to the rope. There were a few times when I felt that my hands were not very obedient and I couldn't unbuckle the buckles no matter what I did. At this time, if someone else could help you buckle the buckle or pull the rope, I would feel very grateful.

It is better to "encounter a car" on the plank road. It is really painful to "encounter a car" on the stairs, because there is only a small space under your feet for you to "occupy" and you can't go up or down at will. It may take five or even ten minutes to go to the next level. For people who lack a sense of security, it is indeed difficult to accept and it is also very physically demanding.

By Little Huanxiong |

It takes about 10 minutes to get from East Peak to the Changkong Plank Road.

As the saying goes, if you haven't been to the Great Wall, you are not a true man. I think if you haven't been to Huashan Mountain, you will feel the same way if you don't go to the Changkong Plank Road. I guess everyone has the same idea. When I arrived at the South Peak, I saw a huge team that lined up at the entrance of the South Peak Taoist Temple. We waited for about 2 hours before queuing up to enter. The Changkong Plank Road is not very long. About 50 people enter each time. I was the first in the group and walked to the end in about ten minutes. Because the road is very dangerous, only one person can pass, so I can climb back after everyone climbs over. The whole process is about 1 hour. When I stood on the plank road and looked down, I really felt the danger of Huashan Mountain. I especially admired the ancients who dug this road.

Those who are timid or afraid of heights should not go.

By I want to see the world |

You need to be mentally prepared to play on the Skywalk, whether it is queuing or having a strong heart to face the abyss. We arrived at Nantianmen at around 3 o'clock and started queuing until around 5 o'clock, which means that it takes at least three hours to play on it.

Actually, I don't think it's that scary to stand on the plank of the Skywalk. The scary part is the process of walking down the Skywalk from the queue. I'm a person who will ride any roller coaster without hesitation and will ride it several times, but when I really stood on that narrow staircase, a kind of fear spread from the bottom of my heart, and I don't know why I suddenly wanted to cry, and I couldn't stop crying. Facing the abyss, there was a sense of powerlessness. The staff below didn't dare to rush me, and just told me, come on, there are only a few steps below and it will be safe.

By Scholar's spirit |

The Changkong Plank Road is about 100 meters long, and people are released in batches, about 50 people at a time, and everyone must walk to the end before returning. The Changkong Plank Road now implements a real-name system, and ID cards must be registered. Cash is only accepted at 30 yuan per person.

By song |

It is more exciting for people who do not often climb high places. The safety belt is very strong. As long as you do not unfasten the two buckles at the same time, you will only be hanging on the steel cable and will not fall off the mountain even if you faint from fright.

By Big orange 🍊 |

In fact, the entire plank road is only 50 meters, but you cannot go back, you have to walk all the way to the end, and it takes a long time to walk.

By Cool |

The brothers who jumped off the cliff haven't passed the first seven days yet, so they probably won't be open, so they didn't remove Dongfeng and the rest have reached the top of the mountain.

By Safina |

There are two safety buckles here. You must make sure one buckle is secure before you remove the next buckle. Then it won't be that thrilling to go down.

By Uncle FOX |

I am going to climb Huashan on July 20th. I plan to stay at the East Peak for one night and watch the sunrise on the 21st. I don't want to climb all night. Friends with the same itinerary can form a group. Because I booked a four-person standard room at the East Peak Jintian Villa, and there are only two of me, I hope to find one or two friends who are willing to share the room and share the room fee. My WeChat is michaelzhao198. Note that it is July 20, 2018!

By Crystal |

The Skywalk is at the South Peak, the most dangerous tourist experience in Huashan. There is only one safety belt, and there are cliffs below. I dare not play it. I looked down from the cliff with a fence above, and I was already trembling.

By @edckid |

Double insurance ropes, no safety issues at all. The queue plus playing time is more than 3 hours on non-holidays. The queue is a group of 50 people. You have to go back and forth, and you have to wait for all the people in the group to go and then come back, so a group of people spends more than an hour. The queue is very windy, the sun is directly exposed without shade, pay attention to sun protection

By Lucky Cat |

The Changkong Plank Road is located at the end of Huashan Mountain! It is worth experiencing. Be careful not to drop your phone when taking pictures. You can take pictures from front to back.

By -MeatMeat |

Because the last time I climbed Huashan, I arrived at the Changkong Plank Road too late and didn’t get to play on it. I’ve always had this regret ever since.

Before I left, when my family heard that I was going to the Skywalk again, they suddenly called me and told me that the Skywalk was under maintenance and not open. I was very anxious and checked Weibo for a while, saying that it would be open in early June. I called Huashan’s work phone on May 27, and the customer service attitude was not good. They said that I would definitely not be able to play in the near future and would call again when I was going to go. I was very frustrated. I searched Weibo again and found that the Skywalk was open, and it was May 28, the day after I called. I was angry (at the customer service) and happy.

The Skywalk itself is free, but the rope fee is ¥30 per person (indirect charge? Haha), and only cash is allowed.

Someone will teach you how to use it, but it's just moving one latch at a time, so there's no danger involved.

The stairs down are quite scary, but the wooden plank road is actually quite wide, so you don't need to be afraid. There is also a photo service here, and you can take it when you come back after walking around. A photo costs ¥50, which is a bit expensive, but it's still worth it (it depends on the individual)

I also heard someone on the plank road say that it was closed yesterday but opened today, saying it was due to the weather, or maybe it was intentional to have more people on Saturday (in fact, there would be more people no matter what day it is). Anyway, I had a great time that day and was satisfied!

By Lord |

You have to believe that the safety rope and the safety cable can really withstand your fall! After climbing Huashan at night, I went there with my energy exhausted and my legs were a little shaky!

By Peanuts |

There were so many people lining up that it was exploding. We heard that it would take at least four hours, so we just gave up.

By Zhongji |

The Changkong Plank Road was closed for maintenance, leaving an excuse to go up Mount Huashan again.

By I want to take you around the world |

It's okay. I'm not that scared. I went up with my selfie stick. There were fewer people there in the morning.

By Love Story & Notes |

There were a lot of people queuing up for the Skywalk. There was only one narrow passage, so we had to walk sideways. It took us about 40-50 minutes to get to our place (it was snowing and windy when we were queuing, and it was so cold when we were waiting). Don’t underestimate the short distance, but you have to wait a long time. Because there is only one road on the Skywalk, you need to go back and forth to climb. After one group of people comes back, another group will be allowed to climb. It takes about 20-30 minutes to go back and forth. People going up and down the mountain will wait for each other, which takes a lot of time. (Be sure to pay attention to safety when climbing! It’s best to wear a pair of gloves)

When you encounter a place where rope buckles meet during the climb, you need to tie the buckle of your safety rope to the next rope. If you can't reach it, everyone will help each other. Seeing this action, I feel very warm. This is the Chinese.

By Flowers Outdoor |

It's exciting and fun. It's a hundred times more fun than the glass plank road! I went with 5 friends. My shoelaces fell off halfway, so I had to lift my feet to let my friends help tie the shoelaces, haha. When I walked onto the wooden board, I turned around, facing the cliff and my back to the mountain, and lifted my feet. It was super cool! I hope to go again if I have the chance!

By Small D-Culture |

After passing the Nantianmen Gate, you will see the famous "Sky Plank Road". The whole journey is about 20 meters, and you need to bring a safety rope (rental fee 30). Walking on it feels very exciting, which will instantly make you feel sleepy after not sleeping all night and feel refreshed.

By Xiaoqiu Gas Station('@') |

This is just an adventure route, not a must-go route for mountaineering. Timid tourists can just wait and see, and those who are not sure of their physical strength and courage should not take risks easily. Therefore, there are many warning words on the stone carvings, such as "Pull back at the cliff".

Reminder: There has been a case of a tourist falling to his death due to a heart attack due to fear. Please do not try this if you are in poor health. For safety reasons, you must use a safety rope.

By Chess, Chess, Sir |

A must-go and worthwhile place! There is a stone wall on one side of the plank road and a deep abyss on the other side! Very shocking!!

By Rootless grass |

The Changkong Plank Road is not only thrilling but also very easy to get frozen. There are so many people playing this project. What does it feel like to queue for two hours and be blown by the mountain breeze of Mount Huashan for two hours? Just imagine the freezing scene.

By GAYU |

There are too many people queuing

It is said that every 10 people in a group

Each group takes about 15 minutes to go back and forth

I'm a bit sorry that I couldn't go this time.

I heard that the queues for the game were 2-3 hours.

You must go early if you want to play, it seems to open at 8:30 at the earliest

By It's a person, not a dream |

I waited in line for more than ten minutes, and my legs were shaking. Oh my god, the edge of the cliff is really scary, so nervous. To be honest, I have never been so nervous in my life.

The staff tied the safety rope and started to go down the skywalk. After walking for a while, they unbuckled and tied it to another rope to continue moving forward.

It took me half an hour to go back and forth on the plank road. I'm glad I challenged this project. I should not be afraid of heights anymore.

By Sansan |

First you smell a strong ammonia smell, then you see a cliff, which means you have reached the Skywalk.

You definitely can't carry a backpack on the Changkong Plank Road, but there is no place to store your bags. You just need to leave them at the entrance of the small temple. It's up to you to take your valuables with you.

When we came back, there were more people queuing. Generally speaking, I wasn't too scared. The vertical section facing outwards is visually scary, but if your legs feel weak, you can sit on the steel bars. As for the rest, you can have fun once you get used to it\( ^▽^ )/

There has been only one road to Mount Huashan since ancient times. The danger of Mount Huashan is well-deserved. I hiked up and down the mountain and stayed on the mountain for one night. I saw all five peaks in the east, west, south, north and center. It was shocking and exciting.

By Silent Cry |

We went to the South Peak and the West Peak during the day and experienced Huashan's long skywalk at the South Peak. Because we were the first group of hikers in the morning, there were not many people and they were all people who climbed up at night to watch the sunrise. There were nine of us walking on the top, which was not a lot. It is recommended to wear gloves as they are made of iron and are very cold and will freeze your hands. We returned by the same route and walked crosswise, which was very exciting.

It is simple and vigorous, with no top and nothing below. It is one of the ten great mysteries of Huashan. There really was a tourist who fell to his death because of fear of heart attack. I feel like there is no bottom line when I try. I am fearless even in the abyss and I move forward courageously.

I queued up for this attraction at around 6:30 in the morning. It seemed to cost 20 yuan per person. It was a pity that there was thick fog in the morning and I couldn't see the scenery below the mountain. I might try the kite flip next time.

Huashan is the only mountain I like, very special! Steep slopes, thrilling! The tourist line is well developed!

I clearly remember the frequency of my calves shaking when I walked on the plank. It was so fast, O(∩_∩)O

I climbed Huashan at night, took a short rest at the top of the mountain, and then went to the Changkong Plank Road to queue up at daybreak. I was the second one to go down just to unlock this achievement. It was really thrilling. Fortunately, I was not afraid at all. I am still excited when I think about it now!

This is my third time here, but I still haven’t been able to play on the Skywalk.

The first time there wasn’t enough time and there were too many people;

The second time I played kite flipping in the rain, it was closed;

This time it was raining and all the small shops along the road were closed.

It was so exciting. Especially before reaching the plank road, you have to climb down a ladder made of steel bars, and you have to change the safety buckle by yourself. My hands and feet were really shaking, haha. It was much better when you reached the wooden plank road. The wooden plank was slightly tilted towards the rock wall, and with the psychological effect, your body would be close to the wall! When I changed the safety buckle, I accidentally took off both safety buckles. I was really scared when I thought about it! After walking this, you will feel that the glass plank road nowadays is rubbish! At the highest peak, Nanfeng, it is said that there is a cable car now. You must try to get there early, otherwise it will not be exciting in the afternoon when it is foggy. When it is not foggy, few people dare to walk. When it is foggy, you can't see below, so more people dare to walk! I didn't dare to take the camera when I walked, for fear of falling, haha!

It's not as exciting as I imagined. It's better than the kite flip, and there is a ladder to land on. There weren't many people when I went there, but the road was too narrow to get out of the way when going back and forth. In short, I challenged it and it was worth the trip

This place has a strong smell, probably because there is a toilet. The water resources on the top of the mountain are precious and the smell is too strong. You can just take a look at the Changkong Plank Road. It is so narrow and you have to queue up. I think it is very dangerous. There are too many people and there is no need to take the risk!

2017.7.28 Grandpa and I climbed Huashan Mountain and came to the Changkong Plank Road from Nantianmen. We originally planned to challenge ourselves, but unfortunately there were too many tourists. We asked the staff and found that it would take 2 hours to queue up. We decided to give up and move on. We have the opportunity to come here to experience it in the off-season.
