The Yellow River is the mother river of the Chinese nation. Hukou Waterfall is a shining pearl inlaid on the winding Yellow River. It is also the only golden waterfall in the world. "The source is from Kunlun and the flow is great. The nine turns of Yuguan are collected in a pot." The Yellow River flows through the Huangshi Plateau and enters the Qinjin Gorge. The riverbed suddenly shrinks from 400 to 50 meters wide to 40 to 50 meters, just like a huge pot pouring out soup. Hukou got its name from this.
"Yellow River Cantata" performance: every afternoon at 17:00 in Shaanxi Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area, the performance lasts 45 minutes. The performance is divided into four chapters of "Yellow River Cantata", where you can experience the local folk culture of northern Shaanxi and the revolutionary spirit of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the red culture.
Ancient Ferry Town Scenic Spots: Anciently known as Guzhentan, the ancient ferry town was prosperous during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There were many shops, boatmen and merchants. Together with the East and West Dragon Kings, it was a trading center for Hukou River boats, known as Sangjin Ferry, and was as famous as Fengling Ferry downstream. Some of its old appearance has been restored. Tourists can enjoy the characteristic cave dwellings of the Loess Plateau and taste local specialties in the ancient ferry town.

In fact, this trip was very pleasant, but I still give this scenic spot a particularly poor service score. We did our homework before. We didn't dare to take the highway during the May Day holiday. It is said that there was a 4-hour traffic jam after getting off the highway. We took the Yellow River Highway and went directly to the scenic parking lot. There was basically no traffic jam and we entered the parking lot smoothly. We queued for more than an hour to buy tickets. We needed to buy a 40-yuan scenic sightseeing bus ticket, but we could get on the bus quickly. When we went back, we took the highway. It was estimated that the highway exit was jammed for at least 7 or 8 kilometers. The traffic jam required queuing to enter the scenic parking lot. The parking lot is a three-story structure with a large slope that requires a half-slope start. Many cars parked and dared not go up. The cars behind easily cut in line, making it difficult to enter the parking lot. The cars behind could only leave a few cars and enter a few cars, which caused serious traffic jams at the highway exit. The 7-kilometer queue did not reach the entrance of the scenic spot for 4 hours.
I heard that Hukou Waterfall was majestic and spectacular when I was very young. Although the water volume is relatively small now, I am already satisfied.
Hukou Waterfall made me understand what rapidity and grandeur mean. I stood on the bank and looked at the river. I subconsciously held my phone tightly. I felt that anything, including people, would disappear in an instant. The water flow was too strong. I wanted to get close to the waterfall. I felt my whole body was soaked.
I naively thought that I would use an umbrella, but I was wrong. There was no hand to hold the umbrella... and to protect the camera, children who come here can bring a waterproof case bought on Taobao, which will be foolproof.
In order to take better photos of Hukou Waterfall, I stayed here for one night. After a night's sleep, I woke up the next morning and it was sunny! Happy! After breakfast, I went directly to the scenic spot. The scenic spot is only 2 minutes away by car, or you can walk there.
It's really spectacular. It just makes me feel very refreshed. Looking at the Yellow River, I suddenly feel very happy. All my worries are taken away by the flowing water.
Standing inside the Dragon Cave, you will realize that the saying "the water of the Yellow River comes from the sky" is true.
We took the earliest bus at 7:30 from the South Bus Station opposite Yan'an Railway Station to Hukou Waterfall on the Shaanxi side. There are usually three trips a day, with a round-trip fare of 81.5 yuan, and the scenic spot stays for about 2 hours. It took more than an hour to reach Nanniwan, and the driver asked everyone to get off the bus to take pictures. There were also locals selling specialties such as millet and dates at reasonable prices. We arrived at the scenic spot at 11 o'clock, and the ticket price was 100 yuan. After checking the ticket, you can see a stage on the open space on the left after entering the gate. The actors were performing the Yellow River Cantata, and the singing overwhelmed the roar of the Yellow River, which was very shocking.
The second largest waterfall in China and the largest yellow waterfall in the world
It has been raining for several days, and the Yellow River has surged. It is the best time to see the waterfall. Hukou Waterfall is a common scenic spot in Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces. Standing in Shanxi and looking at the waterfall, Shaanxi is across the way. I saw it in Shaanxi a few years ago. This time, I can enjoy a different scenery from a different angle. The Yellow River water tumbles with mud and sand and roars past, which is deafening. Standing there, my heart is excited. Only by experiencing it in person can you know that feeling.
The shuttle bus entered the Hukou Scenic Area. I was shocked when I saw the roaring Yellow River! The water was really big, and the original visit site was now unavailable for people to stand. The Yellow River roared, and the big yellow mud dots rushed towards me. Opposite was the viewing point on the Shanxi side. I don't know how different the effect would be from the other side, but the Shaanxi side was already very satisfying for me, who was watching the Yellow River for the first time.
This time, the Yellow River had a particularly large amount of water, and the waterfall was particularly spectacular. I was excited again... This time, the Yellow River waterfall in Yanchuan, Shaanxi, had a different view from the Shanxi side. It seemed that I was closer to the Yellow River, as if I could touch it with my hand. The Yellow River roared deafeningly, and the rolling Yellow River water was surging with white foam...
Hukou Waterfall is located in the canyon between Shaanxi Province and Shanxi Province. The Yellow River water converges rapidly here and then falls into a high and deep pool.
We entered the scenic area to see Hukou Waterfall from the Shanxi side, and the scenic area in Shaanxi is opposite.
Hukou Waterfall is the second largest waterfall in China and the largest yellow waterfall in the world. The Yellow River rushes here, with steep cliffs on both sides and the river mouth narrow like a pot mouth, hence the name Hukou Waterfall. The Yellow River upstream of the waterfall is 300 meters wide, and in less than 500 meters, it is compressed to a width of 20-30 meters. 1,000 cubic meters per second of river water pours down from a steep cliff more than 20 meters high, creating the momentum of "a thousand miles of the Yellow River is collected in a pot". The Yellow River Hukou Waterfall has abundant water and a very spectacular waterfall, which is worth the trip!
The Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River is so magnificent and beautiful. It is like a father’s heart, embracing everything and resisting everything!
It is especially spectacular when viewed from the Shaanxi side! When I saw the surging river, my mind went blank. I just felt that our country is so great, just like the contributions made by everyone in the face of this epidemic.
The most beautiful country and the kindest people are portrayed in this way.
There was particularly heavy rain in 2020, so it was also the best time to see Hukou Waterfall. The weather was nice that day and there was no sun, so I spent three hours comfortably thinking about life.
Currently, a free ticket policy is implemented for medical staff, military personnel, and college entrance examination candidates.
Hukou Waterfall is the most famous tourist attraction in the entire Yellow River. It is located at the junction of Shanxi and Shaanxi. There are special sightseeing spots in both provinces, and the ticket prices are basically the same.
The Yellow River roars past with great momentum, deafening sound, mud splashing, and the shocking miracle of natural landscape is worth seeing. The role-playing and donkey riding photos in the scenic area are quite unique. Find the old man, who has the authentic flavor of northern Shaanxi and is very enthusiastic. He will not refuse any request. Taking a photo can bring back good memories. I personally think you must see it when you come to Shaanxi.
Hukou Waterfall is well-deserved, but I didn't enjoy the Yellow River Cantata performance, which is a bit regrettable
Hukou Waterfall can be seen everywhere at the border of Shanxi and Shaanxi, and it is very spectacular.
The Shaanxi side is better. Although it is not the peach blossom flood, you can still experience the majestic momentum of the Yellow River.
The filming location of Defending the Yellow River takes more than an hour to drive from Yan'an
The scenery is average, but very unique. The Yellow River roars and the momentum soars to the sky. It is the cradle of China.
Worst attraction I've ever been to
It's not interesting, the queue is very long, the management is disorderly, and it's not cost-effective
Attractions 90 yuan, compulsory bus ticket 40 yuan
It takes one hour to queue when getting off the highway, half an hour to queue to buy tickets, and one hour to queue to enter the attraction. The crowds are so crowded and the most important thing is that there are no staff to maintain order.
The most amazing thing is that there were so many people queuing that it was difficult to get on the bus, so the staff asked everyone to squeeze in. It was indeed annoying for everyone to wait for the bus, but overloading is illegal. These are two different things. Safety is not important in order to make money.
I really don't want to give it one star, it's the worst attraction, no doubt about it
I used to view the Hukou Waterfall from the Shanxi side, but I feel that the waterfall from the Shaanxi side is not complete and cannot be viewed from a low position.
I specially registered an account just to complain about this crappy attraction. Not only is the scenery not as good as the one on the Shanxi side, but there are even traffic police comrades who force tourists to divert to the Shaanxi side on the way to the Shanxi side. It's the worst of the crappy attractions!
Hukou Waterfall is a very important landscape in the middle reaches of the Yellow River. The river narrows from wide to narrow, the water flows rapidly, and the waves hit the shore, which is very spectacular. The best viewing period for Hukou Waterfall is spring and autumn. The river opens in spring and the water is high in autumn, which is spectacular. This scenic spot was developed separately by Shaanxi and Shanxi provinces. The Shaanxi side is closer to the river, but the angle is not good. It is best to go to the Shanxi side for taking pictures.
The management is extremely chaotic, and the signs and guides of the entire scenic area are not in place. Tickets are free on the first day of the Lunar New Year, but there is no supporting solution for the large flow of people. In order to make money, they insist on letting tourists take the scenic shuttle bus. Our bus has already arrived at the entrance of Hukou Waterfall, but we are not allowed to enter or get off the bus. We gave him money for the scenic shuttle bus, but he still wouldn't let us get off. We had no choice but to return to the place where we took the scenic shuttle bus to change buses, but the scenic shuttle bus actually drove on the same road outside. Damn, it complicated things and wasted a lot of our time. We almost couldn't enter the scenic area before sunset. If it weren't for the driver who opened the back door to get the tickets without queuing, we would definitely not get the tickets and return home with regret.
It is majestic and spectacular. One side is located in Shanxi and the other side is located in Shaanxi.
When I read travel guides before, many people did not recommend Hukou Waterfall because it was far away and the viewing value was not high. However, I was persistent because the Loess Plateau was very bleak in November, and although the water volume of Hukou Waterfall was not as turbulent as in the rainy season, it was still very majestic and had a kind of bleak beauty. So despite the nearly 700-kilometer round-trip journey, I resolutely took part in the one-day trip to Hukou Waterfall.
Hukou Waterfall is far from downtown Xi'an, so I suggest you join a tour group, which is really worry-free. There are not many places to eat around Hukou Waterfall, it is quite desolate, there is really only the waterfall, and there are very few people. The weather was very good when I went there, and I saw a rainbow at the waterfall. I heard that you can also see the ice waterfall in December. The natural scenery is really worth seeing all year round.
I signed up for a tour group, but it's too far away. It's not convenient to go by myself. It takes 5 hours one way and 10 hours to return. It takes 2 hours to see the waterfall, but I tell you, it's worth it! ! It's really spectacular! ! I listened to the Yellow River Cantata while watching! ! If you have enough time, you must come! !
It was still spectacular. Although I couldn't see the waterfall on the west side of the mountain due to the high water level, it was still spectacular.
Walking into Hukou Waterfall, you can feel the magnificence of "the water of the Yellow River comes from the sky" and "the thousand-mile Yellow River is collected in a pot" up close amid the roar. It seems that you can hear the Yellow River chorus in your ears. In fact, Hukou Waterfall is just to see the scenery of the Yellow River entering the pot, and there is nothing else to see. I always feel that this scenic spot is missing something, because I feel that there is nowhere to play for 2 hours. Oh~
Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River
The rolling Yellow River is a thousand miles of sand.
The roaring dragon is captured in one pot.
The turbid wine flows eastward and never returns.
The wild geese in Tongguan are sad.
After a five-hour bus ride, I finally saw the mother river!!! The Yellow River separates two provinces. Shanxi is on the other side of the Yellow River. Looking at the mountains not far away, I suddenly thought that it would be nice to have a cable car over the Yellow River. Sitting on the cable car, you can also see a more magnificent view of the Yellow River.
I went to Hukou Waterfall during the Qingming Festival. It was not as magnificent as in the video during the dry season. There were more people on the Shaanxi side, and the splashing water was quite cool on my body.
Please forgive me for my first reaction: Oh my god! The water of the Yellow River is really yellow!
This was the first scene in my life that made me so excited that I immediately video-called my mother to show her the magnificent mountains and rivers of our motherland and the wonders of nature!
As soon as I got off the car, I heard the sound of water crashing. The Hukou Waterfall is not very large, and because it is winter, the amount of water is indeed not as large as in summer, but it is also quite spectacular.
You must wear a hat and dark shoes when you go to Hukou (if you want to get close to the Yellow River, it is not too much to wear rain boots). Because Hukou Waterfall is really remote, it is a good choice to sign up for a one-day tour. The one-way drive takes at least 5 and a half hours (if there is no traffic jam). If you go with a tour group, the driver can take you on a mountain road to perfectly avoid congestion, which is like gambling with your life. . Because it is really dangerous. The time for the tour is about 50 minutes, which is plenty of time. At Hukou Waterfall, many tourists wear big red coats, walk on the loess slope, and take a look at the Yellow River.
Here, close your eyes and listen carefully to the sound of the water, rumbling and surging. All your worries seem to have nothing to do with you, and your heart feels very pure and shocked.
I saw some unpleasant reviews before and was still hesitant about whether to go. But after I came, it was unexpectedly good! I felt the majesty of the mother river and took photos from all angles. There was no problem at all. The bus I took in Yan'an was 82.5 yuan round trip and sent me directly to the entrance of the scenic spot. It was just that the ride was quite long. The half-price ticket was 45 yuan. Then I played for two hours and returned with satisfaction. I took more photos with the camera, and I took a lot of videos with my phone. I will post a few photos taken on my phone.
I'm going to drive during the National Day holiday and have made many plans, hoping to go to Hukou.
I had already stayed in Linfen the night before going to Hukou. I was disappointed to hear that the Shanxi side was closed. Later, I searched the news and found that the Shaanxi side was still open, so I happily went there.
The drive from Linfen was 2 hours, the road was smooth, basically at cruise control, 80 on mountain roads and 120 on flat roads.
We queued at the door for half an hour. Fortunately, I asked my wife to queue up for tickets in advance, so the queues for the bus and tickets only took 30 minutes.
The parking lot is huge. If you park far away, it will take 5 minutes to walk to the ticket office.
Tickets need to be exchanged on site, and you cannot enter directly using a QR code or text message. In addition, you need to purchase a shuttle bus for 40 yuan per person.
If you are lucky, you can sit in the first row above the driver when taking the bus, which feels great.
The shuttle bus only takes about 10 minutes along the Yellow River. There is actually not much to see in this section. If you want to see it, you can go towards Hancheng, where there is a sightseeing line along the Yellow River.
When I arrived at Hukou Waterfall, I didn't feel it was particularly shocking. It might be because I had too high expectations due to many people's shocking descriptions, or maybe the high water level resulted in a small drop in height, or maybe the Shaanxi side was not as spectacular as the Shanxi side.
The waterfall is not a straight line, but a C or L shape. Therefore, from the Shaanxi side, you can face part of the waterfall directly and the other part from the side. I believe that from the Shanxi side, you can face the entire waterfall directly. Moreover, there seems to be a dragon cave on the Shanxi side from which you can look up at the waterfall.
However, due to the high water level, many observation platforms on the west side of the mountain have been submerged. In fact, part of the mountain on the Shaanxi side has also been submerged, but it has not affected the higher locations.
There were no shows on the big stage behind the waterfall, which was a pity.
The child felt that many donkeys there were being abused and being ridden to take photos to make money, and she was very unhappy.
Due to time constraints, we made an exception and had a meal in the scenic area. Not only did we have to shout when talking face to face (the hawking loudspeakers were super loud), but it was the first time in my life that I had eaten unpalatable cold noodles, and it was my first meal after entering Shaanxi. I was speechless.
On the way back, there was a long bus queue, it was crowded and the scheduling was chaotic. Although we didn't say a word, many passengers on the bus kept complaining about the chaotic management.
In short, how should I put it, it’s a check-in spot. Anyway, I won’t consider going there in the future, but maybe I can consider going to the west side of the mountain.
The Shanxi side is not open, but the Shaanxi side is. Some attractions cannot be understood just by watching videos or pictures. If you have the opportunity, you must come and experience it in person.
Please understand that my photography skills are limited.
We came to Hukou after having lunch from the Imperial City Prime Minister's Mansion at noon. I hope this can be helpful to you.
After referring to many reviews, I still chose to enter the scenic area from Shaanxi (the scenic areas on both sides are not connected, and there is the Yellow River in between). The final itinerary proved that the decision was extremely wise and correct. The important introduction here is that it is recommended to come to Hukou Waterfall, choose to enter the scenic area in the afternoon, and stay in the scenic area. After booking a hotel, the hotel staff will tell the license plate number to the scenic area staff for release. The scene of the sun about to set and the early morning when there are almost no people in the entire scenic area is just the last time to take pictures. If you don't stay in the scenic area, you need to drive to the parking lot of the scenic area and then take a shuttle bus to the entrance of the scenic area.
The scenery is magnificent and unparalleled! Despite the recent flood, it is still surging!
I've been to the Shanxi side, and my friend went to the Shaanxi side. I don't think it's as nice as ours.
1. From September 17 to the Yan'an side of Hukou Waterfall, the scenic area will close at 7 pm. The ticket office will remind you on September 1 that the sightseeing area will be smaller due to the coming flood season.
2. The west side of Hukou Waterfall was announced to be temporarily closed on September 15, and the opening time is unknown. Few people can be seen on the other side of the river from the Shaanxi side.
3. The Shanxi side and the Shaanxi side are connected by a bridge near the scenic area. Tickets are purchased separately. The Shaanxi side ticket is 100 yuan per adult. There is a self-service ticket machine next to the ticket gate, which supports Alipay and WeChat. The sightseeing bus is 10 yuan per person round trip. If you have plenty of time, you can walk by yourself. The distance is not far.
4. It is recommended to wear shoes with non-slip soles. In addition to the well-maintained tourist trails, the closer you get to the Yellow River, the more stones and yellow mud there are.
5. Some friends mentioned in the reviews that there were mud spots in the fog, so they brought raincoats and umbrellas with them, but they were not used. It is recommended to pay attention to the clothes of tourists before entering the scenic area, and wear them if there are mud spots.
6. It is very spectacular and worth seeing.
The main waterfall and the side waterfall can be seen from the Hukou Waterfall on the Shaanxi side, which looks very shocking. As the totem of the Chinese nation, the Hukou Waterfall, although a natural landscape, also has a touch of humanistic color, symbolizing the unremitting Chinese nation. The mist from the waterfall is very large, and the water splashing on the body will turn into mud spots. Children must be careful not to forget to go to the edge.
Compared with Tiger Leaping Gorge, both are AAAA scenic spots, but Hukou is more spectacular.
The Yellow River is the most majestic in the world at Hukou. It is absolutely true! Standing by the river and watching the waterfall, I can't help but sing "The wind is roaring, the horses are neighing, the Yellow River is roaring, the Yellow River is roaring." After watching the episode of "Running Man" about Hukou Waterfall and the "Yellow River Cantata" at Hukou Waterfall, I really wanted to go to Hukou. Finally, my dream came true.
Free apples are distributed at the scenic spot, which are very juicy. You can ride a donkey and take pictures, which is quite interesting.
Now is the flood season of the Yellow River, the water flow is particularly large, the river channel is wide, and the panoramic function of the mobile phone records the magnificent momentum of the entire Hukou. Of course, there are disadvantages to too much water, that is, for safety reasons, the scenic area prohibits approaching the Hukou Waterfall, and can only watch from a distance. Not being able to see the waterfall up close is also a big regret of this trip.
What you need to pay attention to when visiting Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area is: you must pay attention to sun protection and dust prevention. Sunscreen, sunglasses, scarves, and sun-proof clothing are all good things. In short, it is best to wrap yourself up tightly.
Spectacular! Shocking! The Yellow River Cantata is great!
Everyone should be familiar with the world's largest yellow waterfall. It has appeared in the Chinese textbook. We are in Shaanxi, and the people across the river are in Shanxi. The waterfall is a tourist attraction shared by the two provinces.
All you can see is a big river, wrapped in mud, roaring away. When you stare at the river for a while, it seems as if there is a suction force that wants to suck your gaze and yourself into the river. The deafening sound of water hits your eardrums, and it seems that the earth is shaking. If you don't stand there, you will never feel the power of the roaring Yellow River.
Spectacular~~Shocking! It was the flood season that day. The sound is endless and shocking, coming from ancient times~~
Before going in summer, check online whether the scenic spot is open. Due to the Yellow River flood season or other emergencies, the Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area is often closed. The transportation to the Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area is very inconvenient. From Xi'an or Yan'an in Shaanxi Province, it takes more than 3 hours to take a bus to the scenic area. The bad thing is that these bus routes are not easy to find, which may be the reason why the scenic area has not been applied for 5A.
I started from Xi'an and saw a tourist direct bus on Ctrip (as shown in the picture below). Although it was booked on the bus ticket interface of Ctrip, it was actually a one-day tour and was also sold on other travel websites (such as Qunar.com). Many passengers on the bus thought it was a round-trip bus ticket to Hukou Waterfall. As a result, when waiting to get on the bus, I found out that it was a separate group. It was said on the Internet that it would depart from Xi'an at 6:30 in the morning and drive about 4 hours to the destination. However, the bus picked up people everywhere in Xi'an that morning. It was already past 8 o'clock when it actually departed, and it was about 1 o'clock in the afternoon when it arrived at the scenic spot. In addition, the tour guide on the bus also asked us to "voluntarily" pay 30 yuan per person per meal for food. The tour guide meant this: the food fee is voluntary, but firstly, the bus must stop at the collective dining area for everyone to eat; secondly, the dining area will give priority to the group, and the individual will be delayed, so everyone in the car has to wait for you. What a joke! What kind of voluntary is this?
We could tolerate these things on the way, but the most annoying thing was that our main destination was Hukou Waterfall, but the tour guide only gave us 40 minutes to visit the Hukou Waterfall, but only allocated more than an hour to the Yellow Emperor Mausoleum, because the area of the next attraction on the direct bus was very small, while the area of the Yellow Emperor Mausoleum was very large.
Finally, you can only see the side of the Hukou Waterfall on the Shaanxi side, but you can see the whole picture on the Shanxi side, so it is recommended that you see it from the Shanxi side if possible. Also, don't take a one-day tour bus or tour group, it's really a rip-off!
【Note】Students can buy half-price tickets with their student ID cards
It's very impressive and worth seeing. It's the rainy season, so the water is very big. However, the roads in Shaanxi are not very good. It takes three hours to drive from Yan'an to Hukou Waterfall. There is only one section of expressway, and most of the roads are ordinary roads.
A thousand miles of the Yellow River can be collected in one pot, the most spectacular scenery in the Yellow River Basin!
Standing in Shaanxi and looking at Shanxi
One attraction, two provinces
Each has its own characteristics and advantages
It is worth a half-day trip to Hukou Waterfall
The ones in Shaanxi can only see the side, and they say they can see the front. They can't even see the waterfall. You have to go to Shanxi to see the front. Don't be misled by China-TravelNote.
The first batch of 5A-level natural scenery did not disappoint me
I visited the Shanxi side 16 years ago and visited the Shaanxi side this year. Now it has all kinds of facilities, and the majestic shock can only be truly experienced by visiting the site!
There are many tourists, and it is not easy to wait to take a photo of the iconic stone.
The Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River is worth seeing! The most impressive thing is not the photos, but the actual experience! The roaring sound in the short video will be a memory for me in the future!
If it is winter, the entire water surface freezes, forming a rare huge ice waterfall.
Spectacular, worth seeing, the water is like yellow mud.
The water volume of Hukou Waterfall was very large when I went there, and it was magnificent and worth seeing. If you only want to see the waterfall, the scenic area is not big, and it takes about 2 hours to take pictures and look around.
What's going on? Who went there these two days? We plan to go there tomorrow
The Hukou Waterfall in the National Geopark is majestic and breathtaking, and is worthy of being the world's largest yellow water waterfall... It is definitely worth seeing!
The water of the Yellow River comes from the sky, rushes to the sea and never returns! Spectacular
It was so majestic and shocking. I was stunned and stunned.
Tickets 100 + sightseeing bus 20
Impact on 5A scenic spots
There is only Hukou Waterfall in the scenic area.
The Shaanxi side looks better than the Shanxi side because it is the front side.
Very folk characteristics
Hukou Waterfall is a natural waterfall formed when the middle reaches of the Yellow River flow through the Qin-Jin Grand Canyon. It is separated from Shanxi and Shaanxi by Hukou. Hukou Waterfall was born in this Hukou. Before the waterfall, the riverbed of the Yellow River was several thousand meters wide, but here, the rocks on both sides suddenly shrank, forming a narrow groove that is ten thousand meters long. Not only that, a deep valley with a very steep drop was formed below the groove. As a result, the water flowing from the sky converged here and poured into the canyon, and the momentum was like a landslide. Hukou Waterfall is the second largest waterfall in China after Huangguoshu Waterfall in Guizhou Province, and it is also the largest yellow waterfall in the world. To experience its magnificence in person, you must be there in person.
Hukou is very beautiful, haha, the food at Cui's Manor in Hukou is also delicious, it's delicious
I went there with a tour group when I was traveling to Xi'an. I wanted to visit Hukou before, but I only knew that it was there in Shanxi. I had been in Xi'an for two days and suddenly found that Xi'an was worth visiting, so I signed up for a one-day tour. In a word, I was exhausted. It was actually quite far. There were various extra charges and so on. In fact, I only visited there for an hour. Of course, the scenery was still quite shocking and magnificent, but I was too tired for a day. I left at 4 or 5 and got off at 11.
We went there in May, the water was huge and clear, not yellow at all, it was spectacular!
Shaanxi on this side and Shanxi on the other side are far apart. It's so shocking and spectacular! The closer I get, the colder I feel. My heart is flying and I'm soaked. The Yellow River is really roaring. I finally understand what it means to jump into the Yellow River and still not be able to wash it off. My whole body is covered with very fine Yellow River sand.
Key points: It is best to bring a raincoat. The water of the Yellow River is very strong. If you get close to it, you will see a rainbow. It is very beautiful, strong and shocking. I signed up for a one-day tour of the Yellow River because it is too far away. It takes more than ten hours to go back and forth. If you go by yourself, you will have to rent a car, but the price is a bit expensive. Otherwise, you have to go around and around, which is troublesome.
When signing up for a tour group, please note: Don't pay the Hukou fee in full at once, because the travel agency said that it would be a separate Hukou, but in reality that is impossible. Basically, they will arrange the Yellow Emperor's Mausoleum, so if you don't pay it in full, at least they can take you back to your original place after Hukou. If you don't agree, you can only wait at the entrance of the Yellow Emperor's Mausoleum for two hours, and then you will pay half of the fee. It is recommended not to pay it in full at once, and you can act according to the situation at that time. At that time, there were only one or two people in the whole car who wanted to go to the Yellow Emperor's Mausoleum, and then we met a good tour guide who helped us arrange a car transfer, and those who wanted to go were transferred to other cars, and those who didn't go were transferred here, and then we arrived in the city at six or seven o'clock.
To be honest, I don't even want to give it one star! Let me first say the conclusion, the service is too rubbish, the scenery is not important, if you don't want to be ripped off, don't come!!! China is not the only waterfall! If it doesn't work, it's better to go abroad! Talk about the experience of coming to Hukou Waterfall today. We drove according to the navigation and arrived at the entrance of the scenic parking lot. The security guard at the entrance told us to go back and park in the parking lot two kilometers away, and then buy a bus ticket to the scenic spot. The security guard clearly told us that this was done to cheat money... Actually, if you want to cheat money, I will accept that you charge more parking fees. What do you mean by asking us to go back to park and then take the bus? We went back and parked the car in the parking lot they said, and when I bought the ticket, I specifically asked the ticket seller if I could buy the ticket with WeChat or Alipay. The answer I got was that I could use a bank card or cash. I didn't bring cash, so I brought a bank card. When we took the bus to the ticket office, the ticket seller told us that we could only use cash, and no other payment methods were allowed, and buying tickets online was not allowed! And there were no ATM machines around! You can only go to the nearby shops to add money and withdraw cash... There are four or five ticket sellers standing in the ticket hall, and only one ticket window is open. Their attitude is very arrogant! I have been traveling by car for more than half a month and visited many scenic spots. Today I am really disgusted. After a series of unpleasant experiences, it doesn’t matter whether the scenery is good or not. This is not the only waterfall in China. I sincerely suggest that you don’t come if you can! We came from the Shaanxi side, and you can also go to the Shanxi side. I will not comment on the service attitude there. The Shaanxi side is just two words: garbage!!!
Maybe many places were frozen, so there was no drop in the waterfall = = So I didn’t feel that the Hukou Waterfall was that spectacular... It just looked like a river. It will be quite beautiful in the summer when the water volume is high. However, the feeling of thousands of miles of ice is still quite novel. Moreover, it was also my first time to see the Yellow River.
I heard that there is a scenic spot called "Dragon Cave" in the Shanxi side of the scenic area, where you can see the waterfall from a low place. It sounds quite interesting hhh
I took a three-hour car ride, a total of seven hours round trip, just to watch it for an hour, but I still think it was worth it.
From a distance, you can hear the sound of rushing water, like a thousand horses galloping. When you get closer, it is even more deafening. Looking up, you suddenly understand where Li Bai's sigh of "The water of the Yellow River comes from the sky, rushing to the sea and never returning" comes from. The river surface is 20 to 30 meters, and the river flows very fast. When the water flows to the shore, the river suddenly narrows, and the river gushes down like a yellow dragon rushing out. The water drops densely hit the body, and the taste is very sour. Even so, I still can't bear to move away. This spectacular scene is beyond words. It is the source of Kunlun Yan's big flow, and Yuguan Jiuzhuan is collected in a pot!
The special weather and topography have created a wonderful sight. When the sun is high in the sky, the strong light is reflected on the splashing water droplets of the waterfall, forming a beautiful rainbow. As the position of the sun moves, the rainbow is also moving little by little, which is a spectacular sight. Tourists are crowded in waves, but the waterfall has never stopped for a moment. According to the scenic area manager, due to the huge scouring force of the river water, the waterfall moves several meters upstream every year. If this continues, there will be no Hukou in a hundred years.

Roaring! Shouting! ... Is this the Yellow River I have seen? [Smile] Li Bai's poem: The water of the Yellow River comes from the sky, rushes to the sea and never returns... [Holding fists] Although I have read textbooks, watched movies and TV shows, and experienced it in person! I was still shocked by the huge sound waves... [Strong][Strong][Strong]
In fact, Hukou Waterfall is divided into two banks, one in Xi'an and the other in Linfen, Shanxi.
If you go to Hukou Waterfall from Xi'an, there is a direct bus, but it takes about 4 hours if there is no traffic jam (there may be traffic jams during the National Day). If you go back, you need to take a bus from Hukou Waterfall to Yichuan Station, and then from Yichuan Station to Xi'an. It takes almost a day to go back and forth. It is recommended to charter a bus or join a tour group during the Golden Week. ps: The first bus to Hukou Waterfall is at 8 am, and the last bus is at 4 pm.
If you go to Linfen, Shanxi, there is a direct train from Xi'an North Station to Linfen, which takes about 2 hours. There are many trains. You can arrive in Linfen one night in advance, stay overnight, and set off for Hukou Waterfall early the next morning. Linfen also has a bus that goes directly to Hukou Waterfall, but it is recommended to sign up for a tour group or charter a car in advance during the Golden Week. The journey takes about 2 hours. ps: You can sign up for a tour group online, and you usually have to book it one day in advance. The cost during the May Day holiday is about 180-200 yuan per person.
We chose to charter a car. Although the cost was a bit expensive, including tickets, it cost more than 300 yuan per person, but at least we could freely control the departure and return time and avoid the peak period of tour groups. It is said that traffic jams are particularly serious during the Golden Week. Generally, tour groups depart at 8 o'clock, but we departed at 6:30 and returned at noon, so there was no traffic jam along the way.
I could hear the sound of water from far away. Walking through the eroded landforms in Figure 1, a magnificent picture slowly unfolded before my eyes. The Yellow River roared, rushed, and fell, and dense water mist covered the sky. I could hear no other sound except the sound of water. At this moment, I especially wanted to sing a song: The water of the Yellow River comes from the sky, rushes to the sea and never returns!
I usually watch the spectacular Yellow River flowing through the TV screen, but now I can finally experience the feeling of being surrounded by the roaring sound of the Yellow River in person. Facing the grandeur of nature, I am extremely excited. Hukou Waterfall is definitely worth a visit.
The Yellow River flows here, with steep cliffs on both sides and the river water pouring down from the steep cliffs more than 20 meters high, which is extremely shocking!
There are many unreasonable places in the scenic area. The ticket is 90+ the round-trip shuttle bus is 40, which is a bit expensive. And the parking lot is not set up reasonably. We went there early and queued for about 20 minutes to enter the parking lot. When we came out of the scenic area, we saw that the queue of vehicles was already seven or eight kilometers long, so everyone must go early. And the meal in the scenic area is a bit expensive, a small bowl of noodles is 20.
