Liugong Island is like a bright pearl inlaid in the Weihai Bay of Shandong Peninsula. It is 2.1 nautical miles away from the urban area of Weihai, covers an area of 3.15 square kilometers, is 4.08 kilometers long from east to west, and is 1.5 kilometers wide at its widest point from north to south. The highest point, Qiding Mountain, is 153.5 meters above sea level. Due to its strategic geographical location, it has been a military stronghold since ancient times and is known as the "Eastern Screen" and "Unsinkable Battleship". The island has beautiful natural scenery, dense vegetation, and a forest coverage rate of 87%. It is the first national marine forest park in my country and is known as the "Fairy Mountain on the Sea" and "Xanadu". Liugong Island has obvious marine climate characteristics, warm winters and cool summers. The average temperature throughout the year is around 12℃, making it an ideal place for summer vacation, vacation, and recuperation.
Liugong Island is the place where the Beiyang Navy was established, the ancient battlefield of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, and one of the seven sons described by Mr. Wen Yiduo. It has rich and unique cultural landscapes, including the Warring States ruins dating back thousands of years, the famous Qing Dynasty Beiyang Navy Admiral's Office, Naval Academy, ancient artillery forts, iron docks and other Sino-Japanese War ruins, as well as many European-style buildings left over from the British lease period. Liugong Island is located in Weihai Bay, the easternmost part of Shandong Peninsula. It has rich and unique cultural landscapes, including the Warring States ruins dating back thousands of years, the beautiful legend of Liu Gong and Liu Mu in the Han Dynasty, the remains of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, such as the Beiyang Navy Admiral's Office, the Naval Academy, and the ancient artillery fort in the Qing Dynasty, as well as many European-style buildings left over from the British lease period. National Forest Park-Zoo 4. Liugong Island Expo Park 5. Naval Academy
The first time I went to Weihai, I naturally had to go to Liugong Island. Not only because of the island scenery between the mountains and the sea, but also because of that heavy history and the deep national scars. The six-hour walking route on the island is roughly like this: Tourist Wharf (Ferry Station) - Beiyang Navy Commander's Office (China Sino-Japanese War Museum, Navy Office) - National Forest Park (Zoo, Beiyang Navy Loyalty Monument, Qidingshan Fort) - Seymour Street - Ding Ruchang Memorial Hall - Beiyang Navy Officers Memorial Hall (not open) - British Navy Liugong Island Base Command - Weihai Naval Academy - Huangdao Fort Weapon Museum (not open) - Majingzi Dock - Submarine - Seymour Street (Iron Wharf, Former Site of Distillery, History Selection Exhibition Hall, Former Site of Private Stores, Former Site of Yingli Foreign Company) - Old Captain Seafood Restaurant (lunch) - Exhibition Hall of China Sino-Japanese War Museum - Liugong Island Expo Park - Liugong Street (Korea Street) - Tourist Wharf.
Liugong Island is located in Weihai Bay, the easternmost part of Shandong Peninsula. It is a national 5A-level scenic area with rich and unique cultural landscapes. There are not only the Warring States ruins dating back thousands of years, the beautiful legend of Liu Gong and Liu Mu in the Han Dynasty, but also the ruins of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, such as the Beiyang Navy Admiral's Office, the Naval Academy, and the ancient artillery fort in the Qing Dynasty, as well as many European-style buildings left over from the British lease period. It is known as the "Eastern Screen" and "Unsinkable Battleship". The sea cliffs in the north are upright and steep, while the south is gentle and continuous. The forest coverage rate is 87%, and it is known as the "Fairy Mountain on the Sea" and "Xanadu on Earth". The ticket price is 128/person, and the tour time is 4-6 hours.
Liugong Island is located at the mouth of Weihai Bay, about a 20-minute boat ride away, with an area of 3.15 square kilometers. It is a natural barrier at sea in Weihai City and plays an extremely important role in national defense. It is known as the "Eastern Screen" and the "Unsinkable Battleship". Many naval battles took place here from the Ming and Qing Dynasties to before liberation, especially the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895 left a profound historical imprint. There are sites of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, such as the Beiyang Navy Admiral's Office, the Naval Academy, and the ancient artillery fort of the Qing Dynasty, as well as many European-style buildings left over from the British lease period on the island.
Liugong Island Scenic Area is located in Weihai Bay, east of Weihai City. Liugong Island is only 3.1 square kilometers in area, but it is famous because it is the birthplace of the Beiyang Fleet and the ancient battlefield of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895.
The island houses the Sino-Japanese War Museum and the Sino-Japanese Naval Battle Museum, and also preserves the Naval Academy, multiple artillery batteries and other relics. The Qing government established the Beiyang Navy in 1888. As Liugong Island is located at a strategic point, the Beiyang Navy's admiralty office was set up here.
Since Liugong Island was opened to the public from a closed military restricted area in 1985, the protection and utilization of scenic resources in the scenic area have achieved fruitful results.
When you come to Weihai, you must go to Liugong Island, which has both historical traces and modern atmosphere. You can walk slowly in a day, and the environment is clean and tidy. Especially sitting on the grass on the beach, looking into the distance, the vast sea is refreshing.
If you don't go to Liugong Island, you won't go to Weihai. It is a very good tourist attraction. It is the best educational base for understanding the Sino-Japanese War and the century-long history of humiliation. Various tourist facilities are complete. It is best to go early and spend a day visiting. My travel notes "Six-day Free Tour in Yantai, Penglai and Weihai (Part 2)" have a detailed introduction.
Never forget the national humiliation and work hard to become stronger. On Liugong Island, you can take a boat to tour the island, or visit memorial sites such as the Sino-Japanese War Exhibition Hall and the China Sino-Japanese War Museum. Review history and look forward to the future.
It is recommended to visit on foot. Many historical sites are hidden in the various walking paths. Be sure to visit the artillery on the top of the mountain. It is very shocking and the sea view is also beautiful. For details, please see the travel notes "Self-driving from Jinan to Weihai, see this gentle city"
When you arrive in Weihai, you must visit Liugong Island. The island is very large and has pleasant scenery. Due to time and physical reasons, we did not walk the entire island, but overall it is good and worth a visit!
Liugong Island is mainly for viewing some exhibitions on the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895. There is also a panda house on the island, and some old buildings are left. You can also take a cable car to the mountain to see the fort, but we didn't go up the mountain this time. Many people think that Liugong Island is particularly boring, but for us who went there for the first time, it felt okay, mainly because the weather was good and it was nice to just walk along the beach.
There are attractions such as the Naval Academy and the Sino-Japanese War Museum in Liugong Island, which are worth visiting.
It's OK. There are too many people. We visited the Sino-Japanese War Museum. The children dug sand for 2 hours there. There were too many people.
Liugong Island has beautiful scenery, blue sea and blue sky. The patriotism education demonstration base is especially suitable for children to experience 😀
The scenery is beautiful, the tour guide is attentive and enthusiastic, and it is a quick journey.
Pay tribute to the heroes, remember history and look forward to the future.
It has China's first national marine forest park, the Beiyang Navy iron wharf and ancient artillery fort during the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895
I went there on the 7th anniversary of the ship's retirement. I reviewed that period of history again, the country's sorrow and the people's pain. However, the country is now safe and the Chinese Navy is heading for the deep blue!!!
In 2005, I went to several coastal cities in Shandong with a group tour. I went to Liugong Island with the group, mainly to visit the Sino-Japanese War Memorial Hall, a patriotism education base
Liugong Island now has a strong commercial atmosphere. When I came here with my husband, it was just an ordinary island. You can see the navy dormitories at that time, and there are many weapon fragments left over from the war, etc. It has a sense of historical vicissitudes. Now many of them have been renovated or moved into glass covers.
The reputation is greater than the event, mainly because of the great historical significance, the scenery is average, maybe because we are not so impressed by the boat ride to see the sea in Qingdao, maybe the first time to see the sea will be very excited. But such an expensive ticket is not as good as going to Laoshan in Qingdao, the attractions here are very attractive.
Liugong Island is quite rich in content, with sea scenery, pandas, sika deer and long-haired goats in the zoo, and many exhibition halls where you can learn about the life, history and culture of warships and characters. Here, I learned the origin of Weihai's name, Weihai Weihai, awe-inspiring sea borders
Liugong Island Expo Park is a comprehensive tourist park that integrates a long history and rich culture, high technology and exquisite art. There is no need to buy tickets, and the boat ride to the island is fully included.
The must-visit scenic spots when visiting Weihai include the former site of the Beiyang Navy and the Forest Park, which are witnesses of history.
Very beautiful! You can also learn a lot of historical knowledge. Worth a visit!!!
Liugong Island Scenic Area is located in Weihai Bay at the easternmost tip of Shandong Peninsula. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south. The north is upright and steep, while the south is flat and stretching. Because of its strategic location at the heart of coastal defense, it is known as the "Eastern Screen" and the "Unsinkable Battleship".
It took nearly half an hour to queue up for tickets, and there were many families with children. The most common ticket I bought was 138 yuan, which included round-trip boat tickets and scenic spot tickets, but did not include cable cars, island tours, etc. I wandered around the scenic area slowly by myself and visited some places that interested me. Overall, this place is really good to bring children to receive patriotism education, but along the way I heard parents educating their children: "Fight Japan, fight Japan." In fact, I was speechless when I heard it behind me. History makes people remember the past, cherish peace, and inspire progress, not hate. And I personally think it is not appropriate to instill such ideas in children.
Liugong Island is quite large, so I just walked around the middle area. The two ends were too far away and I couldn't walk, so I didn't go there. Later, when I left the scenic area, I found that there were shared cars (especially small ones). I regretted not seeing them when I came in. Otherwise, I would have rented a car and driven around the island. It took about 4 hours to walk around.
Liugong Island 5A scenic spot, I came here because of its reputation, but it is really a place that I would regret if I didn't go there. In order to avoid the crowd, I chose to go there at more than ten o'clock. The time for self-service machine ticket collection was 10:32, and the time to board the boat was nearly 13 o'clock. I queued for two and a half hours, and I stood and squeezed the whole time, regardless of the elderly and children. The weather was hot, and if I wanted to buy water and food or go to the bathroom in the middle, it would not work. A 5A scenic spot actually takes so long to go, and I am not in the mood to watch it even if the scenery is good. When I arrived at the scenic spot, I was informed that the general boat return time was 3:30 in the afternoon, which means that I have to queue up to go back, and the play time is less than two hours, speechless. So I went to the Sino-Japanese War Memorial Hall first, and then went to the Liugong Island Expo Park after coming out. I took a quick look and went back to queue up for the boat. I went back and took pictures for about half an hour. There were people squeezed by people. Fortunately, the weather in Weihai these days is not very hot. I really don't know what to say about such attractions. I have the same idea as everyone else. Maybe you will only come to Weihai once in your life, and it would be a pity not to visit some attractions. However, after seeing them, it really affects your mood the most in the itinerary. I suggest that you don't come here with children and the elderly. Of course, if your children can walk by themselves and have patience, you can come, or if your elderly are in good health... Of course, all my comments are caused by the queue. If you only queue for an hour, you can still see this island and understand this humiliating history.
Mainly, even if you want to visit the museum, you have to take a cable car up the mountain to see the panoramic view of Liugong Island. As a result, it was foggy when you got up the mountain and you couldn't see anything.
Weihai's representative scenic spot is worth visiting. It should be noted that: 1. Buy tickets one day in advance as much as possible, there are many discounts, and it is very convenient to pick up tickets. 2. During the summer vacation, you must pay attention to sun protection. Long-sleeved sun protection clothes, hats, umbrellas, and sunscreen are essential. 3. Parents with children can bring some fish food, bread and other food to feed the fish. 4. Bring some water and fruit as much as possible. There are not many places to eat on the island, and everyone should understand the taste and price. 5. The business hours start at 8 am, so everyone should go as early as possible. The waiting time for boarding the boat during the summer vacation is at least 30 minutes, so be sure to calculate the time well.
You need to take a boat to get to the island. We mainly visited the Sino-Japanese War Museum with the theme of the Beiyang Navy and the Sino-Japanese War, the Liugong Island Expo Park, watched the documentary film of the Sino-Japanese War, the Wanghai Tower, and the Yingzu Weihaiwei History Museum. There are mostly traces of history here, showing the basic historical facts of the 32-year British lease of Weihaiwei to the Chinese people. In the Sino-Japanese War Museum on Liugong Island, I saw many historical features during the Sino-Japanese War, mainly some historical equipment left over from the Beiyang Fleet. Personally, I think that attractions like museums can really broaden your horizons. It is worthwhile to learn and remember history while playing. What needs to be said here is that the interpreter on the island is useless. The signal is often broken, so you can't hear the sound. It is not recommended to rent it. Just walk and watch it yourself. We only visited the island for about 2 hours and then went back to the island. Unfortunately, most of the scenery on Liugong Island was not seen in time, so we can only go there next time.
Tickets can be purchased online in advance. There are adult tickets, senior tickets, and student tickets. You can pick up the tickets at the passenger center. The tickets include round-trip ferry tickets, and the price-performance ratio is good.
It took more than ten minutes to get to Liugong Island by boat. As soon as we got ashore, my son went straight to the beach to play in the water. I couldn't stop him. The beach of Liugong Island is really attractive, with clear and green water, passenger ships shuttling back and forth, and the blue sea dotted with white boats, which is very beautiful.
Liugong Island is also a naval base. You can always see naval units and military service departments along the way. Occasionally, you can see the sea in the distance through the buildings and tree shadows. I think this is really the most beautiful place for military service. Tourists can save some energy by taking a battery car to tour the island.
You need to buy a separate ticket to visit the submarine. This is a real submarine retired in the 1980s, which is already rusty. Entering the submarine, the space is extremely small, the activity space is quite cramped, and there is a strong smell of motor oil, which makes people feel a little breathless. I can't help but deeply admire the soldiers who serve on the submarine. They sacrificed too much and endured too much. My son was very satisfied with the submarine landscape, and it was worth the visit.
The ticket includes round-trip ferry tickets and some exhibition halls on the island.
Liugong Island is mainly of great historical significance. You can come here to learn about the history of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, as if you were rereading a high school history book. It is quite meaningful. The whole island is a bit large, but the main exhibition halls are OK by walking. If you want to walk more, you can stay for a day. We only visited some important exhibition halls, took some photos, and left at about 2 pm.
I won't introduce the scenic spots, it's a 5A scenic spot, a must-visit in Weihai. Here are some suggestions: 1. The time to go to the island is 2:30 p.m., and the return time is 4:30 p.m. It is not recommended to stay on the island. There is no one at night, and no one sells things. There is only one state-run hotel on the island-Liugong Island Hotel, which costs 500-600. 2. Ticket purchase suggestions, only choose round-trip boat tickets and scenic spot tickets. After going to the island, you can buy the cable car and the sea island tour separately. These two attractions are not recommended. The picture below shows the cannon and the sea island tour seen after the cable car goes up the mountain. There is a battery car around the island on the island for 20 yuan, you can take a ride. 3. The security check on the island is very strict. Lighters are not allowed. Liugong Island is a smoke-free island, and lighters will be confiscated. However, there are many small shops on the island, all with lighters, which can be borrowed. 4. You can have lunch on the island, and the price is reasonable. Finally, remember to do a good job of sun protection.
The fun of Liugong Island is taking a boat to and from the island... The scenery is still good.
Eating on the island is really expensive. The cheapest instant noodles cost 20 yuan, and corn cakes cost 5 yuan, not to mention cooking. So it is important to bring food in advance. There is no need to spend money on eating in such places. If you are rich, it is another matter. We walked west along the road. I don’t remember how long we walked. Two hours? There are several villas in the meantime. It seems that they were built when foreigners occupied this place and were sealed. Finally, we arrived at the westernmost fort of the island. It was really beautiful to see the sea from the fort. It was boundless. After watching for a long time, it felt like the sea was going up to the sky.
There are dozens of families living on Liugong Island. The courtyards are very old, but they have a unique flavor. There are small flower beds in front of the doors, giving a feeling of an outdoor paradise. I regret not taking photos of these houses because I was holding my children.
Liugong Island is still worth a visit. The place where I live is not far from the sea. I walked there and bought a ticket at the port to board the boat. There are many boats going back and forth and they are fast. Liugong Island is mainly a tourist attraction. It is worth a look and looking for traces of history. It is also very educational.
I've been there once before, and it's OK for me who's never seen the beach before.
It's not as good as I imagined. The whale park is hard to find in the Expo Park. At first I thought I was in a temple and had to walk a long way inside.
When we got off the pier, we saw a huge anchor statue, which meant we had officially entered Liugong Island. This small island near Weihaiwei has become one of my favorite attractions.
My first encounter with Liugong Island was during the famous Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895. China was defeated in the war, and since then, China’s semi-colonial and semi-feudal nature has been greatly deepened. This humiliating history has made people forget another identity of Liugong Island - the birthplace of the Chinese Navy.
The place is not small, and there are pandas to see. It is recommended to go to the island early. I returned to Weihai at 3 o'clock due to strong winds and waves. The last boat was at 5:30.
Weihai tourism consultation 18463113381, Weihai local tourism practitioners
I went there a long time ago and was deeply educated at that time. You must have a strong navy!
This was once the garrison of the heroic Beiyang Fleet. It is a pity that the Japanese pirates were not defeated in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895. So many Chinese sons and daughters died for their country.
There are a lot of people going there during the National Day holiday, and there are queues everywhere. It is not recommended to go there during holidays.
There were still quite a few people going there on New Year's Day. It was snowing in the morning. I have to say that the snow in Weihai is heavy. It is quite educational. I suggest you come with children.
I was on a business trip and took some time to go there. I had a lot of fun. Maybe it was because of the season, it was very cold and there were not many people.
When you come to Weihai, you must go to Liugong Island. This was the base of the Beiyang Navy, which is equivalent to the status of Qingdao today. It witnessed the history of the rise, growth and fall of China's modern navy. Liugong Island is only a few kilometers away from Weihai Tourist Wharf, and it takes about 15 minutes by boat. The entire island is only a few square kilometers, and the highest point is only 100 meters above sea level. The German cannons of that time are still preserved here. There are the Sino-Japanese War Exhibition Hall, the Navy Office, the Naval Academy, Ding Ruchang's Residence, etc. on the island, telling people the lesson that "if you fall behind, you will be beaten."
The island is clean and tidy and no fire is allowed. It is a patriotic education trip for young people. Through the disastrous defeat of the Beiyang Fleet in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894, we can see that Japan's invasion of China was a long-planned one. The signing of the Treaty of Shimonoseki ceded Taiwan, the treasure island of the motherland, to Japan. However, the public transportation outside the island is not perfect, and you have to walk about one kilometer to get a bus.
Tickets are 130, cable car 60 (with free submarine tour), island boat 60, mini bus 20.
First, take a boat from the shore to Liugong Island, which takes 15 minutes. The boat is average, but there may be warships on the left, which is interesting;
Then we went to the Sino-Japanese War Museum on the island to visit and experience the humiliating history of China.
Next is the Expo Hall and the Whale Watching Hall, which feel like a patchwork of scenic spots and are not very interesting;
We took the cable car up the mountain, which took 15 minutes each way. It was very slow and sleepy. The scenery was average. We only saw a captive elk and a few artillery batteries on the top of the mountain. It was boring.
Walk for 20 minutes to see the submarine, which is completely realistic, cool, mechanical heavy metal, and very exciting.
In summary, the scenery is average, the cable car is a rip-off, and it is far from being comparable to the islands in the south.
If I had to say what I like about it, there are only two things, one is patriotic education, and the other is submarines. I don't feel anything else.
Blue sky, white clouds, sea, cruise ship, cable car, Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895... Weihai is the first choice for your trip. What's wrong with it, my friends?
Because Momo is in Weihai, I went to Weihai city for a walk, visited Liugong Island, and visited the Sino-Japanese War Memorial Hall, etc. Now I see Momo posting pictures of her baby on WeChat Moments every day, which makes me feel warm. Momo and I are from the same department but different classes, but we met at the Psychological Association. We have been together at the Psychological Association for two years. Although she looks weak on the outside, she is actually many times stronger than me. I hope she will always be happy~~
Liugong Island is especially worth a visit. There is the Sino-Japanese War Museum on the island. There is also the former site of the Beiyang Navy's government office.
It is a good place to enjoy the scenery and learn about history.
You must receive patriotic education when you come to Liugong Island. Indeed, the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895 more than a hundred years ago really hurt the Chinese nation. In addition to the artillery forts at that time, there is also a submarine from the 1980s on the island. It is worth recommending to take a look inside the submarine. Now my country's navy also has patrol warships that will dock at Liugong Island Pier.
I took my children there. It was a good patriotic education base. It was very clean, the sky was blue, and the sea was blue. I went from Rizhao to Qingdao to Weihai. The water in Weihai was the cleanest. I took my children on a tour around the island. It was the first time for the children to take a boat and they were very excited. It was a good patriotic education to review history.
Pick a good day to see the scenery and it will feel different.
In addition to the scenery, there is also a history of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895.
The boat ride to the island depends on the weather.
Liugong Island is very educational. Don't forget the national humiliation. The two people who impressed me the most in the Sino-Japanese War Museum were Empress Dowager Cixi, the defeated woman who was too deceiving, and Ding Ruchang, who had to take the blame even after his death. The scenery by the sea is beautiful. For details, please see my guide ~ "Meet Weihai in late August"
The scenery is beautiful, the scenery is picturesque, the customs are varied, and the charm is charming. What a paradise island. Highly recommended.
We bought the package of Liugong Island adult ticket + cableway ticket on Ctrip. The ticket collection location is the automatic ticket machine in the ticket hall of Liugong Island Passenger Transport Center. It is very convenient and much faster than queuing up to buy tickets in the ticket hall. At about 10 o'clock in the morning, we lined up to wait for the boat to Liugong Island. First, we visited the Sino-Japanese War Museum of the First Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, where we can see the process from the formation to the destruction of the Beiyang Navy, which realistically reproduces the heroic war scenes. Please note that there are guides to explain at the hour. There were a lot of people when we went there, and it was very stuffy indoors. After visiting the museum, we went to the Qidingshan Fort. Because it was a peak season with many people traveling and poor management, the waiting time for the cable car was long, the air in the waiting hall was not circulated, there were several ceiling fans, but two of them were broken, the whole hall was stuffy and uncomfortable, and the waiting time for the cable car was very long, which took up a long time to wait. A cable car can only accommodate 2 tourists at most, so a lot of time was wasted. During this period, a mother-in-law fainted due to heat stroke. Fortunately, there is an emergency center on the island, and nothing went wrong. There are three cannons on the Qidingshan Fort, and most of the scenery is blocked by plants, so there is nothing to see. On the way back, we caught up with the peak of going down the mountain, and waited for the cable car again. We didn't go down the mountain until 3 pm. Since we had an appointment with the chartered driver to go back to Rushan, we had to give up other attractions. Maybe Liugong Island is still worth visiting, but it's better to stay on the island for a day during the peak season to slowly appreciate its beauty. It is recommended to go to the island at 3 pm on the first day, and take the cable car directly to the Qidingshan Fort to overlook the scenery of Liugong Island. Just missed the peak period of taking the cable car. Don't miss the last cable car going down at 17:20 in the afternoon. Wait for the day-trip tourists to leave the island and then slowly visit the Expo Park and other attractions. You can also skip the Qidingshan Fort, visit the Expo Park first, and then visit the Sino-Japanese War Museum. The next morning, before the day-trip passengers board the island, spend 20 yuan to take a sightseeing bus through the forest and pine waves. The 20-minute journey can take in all the main attractions. Only in this way can you slowly appreciate its beauty by visiting in a staggered manner.
Red Education Base! Very clean!
Good review!
The highlight of this trip is Liugong Island, where Weihaiwei, the last battle of the Yellow Sea Battle of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, took place. Here we learned more about history and never forget the national humiliation!
We took a boat to the island, watched seagulls, went into the museum, and visited a submarine. It was my first time on a submarine, and I was a little panicked when I saw this monster. I was not mentally prepared and wanted to go back, but my mother pulled me down. Actually, actually, this submarine is nothing special...
The so-called heavily promoted Liugong Island: It is really as many people who have been there have commented: You won’t regret it if you don’t go, but you will regret it if you go! It is a so-called tourist attraction that is completely artificially created for the purpose of making money (there is no sightseeing value! Moreover, the high ticket prices plus the various so-called package projects are added one after another, and further charges, in fact, the word of mouth has also tarnished the city image of Weihai! Does the local tourism authority or the government simply use this island as a tool to make money? After landing on the island, there are only a few low-rise bungalows left as historical relics. I wonder what most domestic tourists can appreciate and what is the value and significance of the visit? Therefore, ordinary people with limited budgets really don’t recommend falling into this trap! Because most people think that since they have come to Weihai, such a famous and promoted Liugong Island, it seems a pity not to go, but in fact, there is no regret at all.
I strongly recommend the Liugong Island Sino-Japanese War Memorial. It may be difficult for children to understand, but it can really touch the soul for adults. Remembering history is everyone's obligation. In fact, the text on the wall of the museum is very good and comprehensive. On the contrary, the tour guide was talking nonsense. I don't recommend you to find a tour guide. The electronic explanation machine should be good. Other attractions on the island, such as the zoo, sika deer, pandas, etc., seem to have no meaning. They are purely for attracting tourists. Regarding transportation: We chose to walk to the back. It was indeed tiring, but it was within an acceptable range. In short, it deserves the name of a patriotism education base. The memorial is really shocking.
Weihai, the famous Liugong Island, can be reached in a short boat ride.
Liugong Island, the former residence of the Beiyang Fleet, is now the base of the North Sea Fleet.
Liugong Island not only has the Liugong Temple, but also the China Ocean Altar. I guess most people only know the Temple of Heaven, the Temple of Earth, the Century Altar, the Altar of the Sun, and the Altar of the Moon.
Liugong Island, once a British colony...
There are two must-visit attractions in Weihai, one is Chengshantou and the other is Liugong Island. Chengshantou is a bit far from the urban area of Weihai, and I couldn’t arrange it during this trip, so I only went to Liugong Island.
Most of the attractions on Liugong Island seem to be available on China-TravelNote, but I think the submarine on Liugong Island is one of the most worthwhile places to visit on Liugong Island, although there are some accidental factors. The submarine on Liugong Island is docked on the southwest side of the island, and the ticket is 20 (if you have a round-trip cableway ticket, the submarine is free).
The No. 279 submarine docked here is a R33 submarine, a second-generation conventional-powered submarine made by my country using the former Soviet Union's technology. It is 76.6 meters long, 6.7 meters wide, 5.2 meters deep, and has a displacement of 1,475 tons. It was manufactured in 1979, launched in 1980 and served in the East China Sea Fleet, and retired in 2003.
These are all introduced on the sign at the entrance of the scenic spot, but there is no explanation inside the submarine. Here we have to mention the accidental factor. I met an old soldier who worked in the electromechanical room of the 294 submarine for 4 years 43 years ago and knew the R33 submarine very well. He was traveling with his wife and happened to meet the 279, which was also an R33, so he came down to visit. I happened to be traveling with him and heard the free explanation. I am very grateful for the old man's careful explanation, and I am even more grateful for the old man's dedication of his youth to the cause of the Chinese Navy.
I recorded a video of the explanation and posted it on BiliBili. I'll share the URL with you all***10868747/
I bought a half-day tour at the tourist distribution center, and also bought a 60-yuan cruise around Liugong Island. Overall, the ticket price of more than 100 yuan is a bit expensive. - Liugong Island is located in Weihai Bay at the easternmost end of Shandong Peninsula. It has rich and unique cultural landscapes, including Warring States ruins dating back thousands of years, the beautiful legend of Liu Gong and Liu Mu in the Han Dynasty, and the remains of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, such as the Beiyang Navy Admiral's Office, the Naval Academy, and the ancient artillery fort in the Qing Dynasty. There are also many European-style buildings left over from the British lease period. It is known as the "Eastern Screen" and the "Unsinkable Battleship".
The island has beautiful scenery and pleasant views. There are many tourists. The things you buy on the island are very expensive. Who says it is a tourist attraction?
I only took these few photos, and the scenery outside was a short video. Liugong Island is really nice. I didn't have any expectations when I went there, but it turned out to be really good. The only thing you need to do if you want to buy things on the island, such as pearl necklaces, shell jewelry, etc., is to bargain hard.
First time to Liugong Island! It feels very fun, but the premise is that you have to have good physical strength! My husband and I walked around the island from 9 am to 4 pm. We didn't finish walking. When we got home, our legs were not our own! Let's get back to the point. First, buy the ticket online, and then go to the lobby to pick up the ticket by yourself with your ID card! No need to queue up, after getting the ticket and passing the security check, you can board the boat to Liugong Island directly, which will take about 15 minutes! After entering the island, if you don't want to walk by yourself, there are 2 options! The first is to rent a car and pay a deposit of 300 (a car can accommodate two people)! The second is to spend 60 to take a boat around the island (about 45 minutes around the island) or you can spend 20 to follow the guide car! There are too many attractions on the island for you to see by yourself, I won't say it! Finally, prepare drinking water and food before going to the island~you know the reason ( ̄∀ ̄)
The largest scenic spot in Weihai is here, you can spend a whole day there.
Liugong Island is really a good place for vacation. The recommended time to go is when spring meets summer. At that time, there is the breath of spring, and the temperature is not too low. The sunshine is just right. It is suitable for going alone. It is a very quiet place, an island that can be called isolated from the world.
The scenery of Liugong Island in winter is also nice, but there are fewer tourists, the cable car is not running, many exhibition halls are not open, and I didn’t see any animals in the zoo.
Liugong Island is located in the east of Weihai city, a 20-minute flight away. This island has been famous for a long time. Later, the Beiyang Navy used it as a naval base and played an important role in modern history. Now there are attractions such as the Sino-Japanese War Museum, Forest Park, Liugong Island Expo Park, Liugong Island Whale Museum, Qidingshan Fort, Donghong Fort, and Iron Wharf on the island. Although this island is not too big, there are still many things to play. If you have the conditions, you can choose to stay on the island for a night.
