Binjiang Avenue is a pedestrian avenue located on the bank of the Huangpu River, with a total length of about 2,500 meters, facing the Bund across the river.
With a view of the World Expo buildings on the Bund across the river and the scenery of Puxi, it has become one of the most famous tourist attractions in Shanghai.
In the center of Binjiang Avenue, there is a fountain square composed of 21 sprinkler heads. The huge fountain equipped with colorful lights shines brightly in the night.
Compared to the Bund, Binjiang Boulevard is characterized by a more lively atmosphere. People gather in groups or alone to enjoy the river, which makes it more quiet and leisurely.

Completed in 1997, Shanghai Riverside Boulevard, a 2,500-meter-long riverside landscape project stretches from Taidong Road along the Huangpu River to Dongchang Road, facing the Bund in Puxi across the river. It integrates sightseeing, greening, transportation, and service facilities. It comprises a waterfront platform, sloped greening, semi-underground structures, and landscaped roads. Overlooking the river, the vibrant waterways of Pudong and the vibrant and tranquil Bund World Expo complex create a scene of endless reverie and a sense of discovery. Like a colorful ribbon flowing along the east bank of the Huangpu River, it has been hailed as Pudong's new Bund. This riverside landscape project integrates sightseeing, greening, transportation, and service facilities, focusing on the city's ecological environment and functionality.
A must-see destination, Shanghai's new landmark echoes the Bund
The riverside area has been very well developed in the past two years, with fully connected plastic running and cycling paths, vending machines and rest areas every few hundred meters, and you can often run and check in at night.
In addition to the scenery, there were also a lot of people on Binjiang Avenue, and the overall travel experience was still slightly worse.
At this time, remember to look back at the entire row of excellent historical buildings on the Bund Road. Most of their top floors have now been converted into restaurants and bars. You can enjoy a higher quality view for (at least) the price of a glass of wine. Why not?
By the summer of 2018, I'd walked along the Xuhui Riverfront, the Huangpu Riverfront, the Hongkou Riverfront, and the Yangpu Riverfront. Without a doubt, the Huangpu Riverfront is the most beautiful! Each season offers its own exquisite beauty and unique styles. I've got so many beautiful photos, I'm slowly sorting them out...
It's important to keep some distinctions clear: the area west of the Huangpu River is called "The Bund," while the area east of it is called "Binjiang Boulevard." Thanks to the development of both Pudong and Puxi, Shanghai now boasts stunning river views from both directions, each with its own distinct character. The annual New Year's Eve fireworks and light show along the Bund and Binjiang Boulevard is a major drawcard. While many people may not know the name of the Aurora Building, they definitely know that there's a building on the riverside with a large screen covering most of its exterior wall.
I walked through one of the entrances of Central Plaza and started from the Shangri-La. It was a very long road, and it took quite a while. I wanted to come here because "Love Ode to Sesame" was filmed here! The allure of the TV series still drew me here three years later. I noticed Wallace Chung and Tiffany Tang were hanging out here, and it was at the Mandarin Oriental when Wallace Chung asked her if she wanted to come back. It took me half an hour to walk from Central Plaza to get there. I then realized how well-planned Shanghai's roads are now, with separate paths for walking and cycling, truly a cosmopolitan city. Strolling here on a cool evening, feeling the river breeze and gazing at the scenery across the river, was truly wonderful. There's also Mobike rentals near the Mandarin Oriental, and I rode back to Central Plaza, which was really nice.
If you look at the Huangpu River from the Bund, you'll probably see nothing but crowds. Going to Pudong, there are fewer people and the scenery is better. You can find a chair on Binjiang Avenue and sit down to enjoy the riverside scenery. It's also the best vantage point for overlooking the Bund in Puxi.
Riverside Boulevard is overlooking the river, with hundreds of boats vying for the current on both sides of Pudong. The combination of movement and stillness of the Bund World Expo buildings gives people endless reverie and a sense of moving and picking up scenery. It is like a colorful ribbon floating on the east bank of the Huangpu River and is praised as the new Bund of Pudong. Riverside Boulevard is a pedestrian avenue located on the bank of the Huangpu River, opposite the Bund area of Shanghai. It is a tourist attraction that integrates sightseeing and green environment. Strolling along Riverside Boulevard in the evening is comfortable and pleasant.
It feels good to walk along the Huangpu River, enjoy the river view and feel the breeze.
It's absolutely amazing. Not too crowded. It's my favorite place to stroll and test cameras. Feel the breeze off the Huangpu River. Find a seat. Order a drink. Absolutely amazing...
It is not as lively and noisy as the Bund, and is more suitable for people who like quietness and want to enjoy the scenery. There are many restaurants around, and the prices are unknown, but they seem to be quite expensive.
Walking along Pudong's long Binjiang Boulevard, I felt that the lights and scenery across the river were no less impressive than the modern skyscrapers of Shanghai on this side. In fact, I liked it even more. There were fewer tourists here, mostly strollers and night joggers.
I like this place very much, especially being able to sit here and feel the river breeze is great.
Across the Huangpu River from the Bund, Binjiang Boulevard stretches approximately 2,500 meters from Dongchang Road Wharf to Taitongzhan Wharf. Known as Shanghai's "Little Bund," it is divided into three sections. The southern section (Fudu Section) blends modern architecture with a fountain plaza. The yacht marina, renovated from an old wharf, is uniquely charming. The section of Binjiang Boulevard in front of Zhengda Shopping Mall is its busiest.
The Bund in Pudong possesses a distinct beauty from the Bund in Puxi. This beauty lacks the Oriental Pearl Tower or towering skyscrapers, but rather the tranquility and serenity of international architectural masterpieces, a glimpse into history and a tribute to modern civilization. This photo was taken with my mother on a short stroll along Binjiang Boulevard one winter evening in 2016.
The Riverside Boulevard, stretching from Taidong Road along the Huangpu River to Dongchang Road, faces the Bund in Puxi across the river. It is a riverside landscape project integrating sightseeing, greening, transportation, and service facilities. It comprises a waterfront platform, sloped greenery, semi-underground structures, and a landscaped road. The boulevard features a 21-spout, wave-chasing Century Fountain, a fully transparent observation hall, and the preservation of a 70-year-old shipyard and dock, complete with a giant anchor. Along the river, in addition to the already completed Shanghai International Convention Center, the Shangri-La Hotel, and the seagull-like Oriental Cruise Terminal, projects such as an oceanarium are planned. At night, the waterfront platform offers a breathtaking view of the river, offering a dazzling view of the Bund's elegant buildings and the modern skyscrapers of Pudong, a truly captivating spectacle.
I chose to take a walk along the river, the weather was great and I was in good shape :)
Looking at the scenery and feeling the wind, I feel very happy.
Large and small ships were constantly "chasing" each other on the river.
In the air and on the shore, birds are either stretching their wings or resting to fish.
As the sun sets, bells ring and tourists play.
Photography enthusiasts constantly focus and aim, hoping to capture a satisfying moment.
I don’t know whether time passes quickly or slowly...
Looking back, the Oriental Pearl Tower is also "charming" in the blurred clouds.
This is the best vantage point for viewing the Bund. The water quality here isn't very good, and the shallows along the shore are still covered with aquatic plants, but it also makes for a more natural experience. In the afternoon, you can watch the sunset here. It begins around 6:00 p.m., with the sunlight gradually softening, casting a golden glow across the river and onto the Bund. The entire scene is reminiscent of a yellowed old photograph. The view is even more stunning at night. Around 7:00 p.m., the sun sets completely, and the Bund lights come on. The dazzling lights overshadow the skyscrapers behind, creating a unique and picturesque scene.
Beneath the Oriental Pearl Tower, across the Huangpu River from the Bund, you're tired of the crowds and the sight of the Bund. Why not head to Binjiang Avenue for a panoramic view of the Bund? Take Metro Line 2 and Lujiazui Station, and a 10-minute walk will take you to the Huangpu River. Sit on a chair by the river, enjoy a cup of coffee, and enjoy the cool breeze, gazing at the tourists on the Bund across the river, and listening to the whistles of the boats passing by on the river? In one word: cozy!
Looking at the buildings on Binjiang Boulevard and the Bund feels like it has collapsed a century. Binjiang Boulevard is full of old Shanghai buildings. Boats often pass by on the river, and the scenery is still very beautiful. It’s just that each pair of eyes that discovers beauty likes it differently.
If you take the metro, get off at Lujiazui Station on Line 2 and exit at Exit 2. Walk a few steps to the Lujiazui Circular Skywalk or walk on the ground to reach Binjiang Avenue.
Take a look at the enchanting Huangpu River at night, the dimly lit Bund buildings across the river, various boats slowly passing by on the shimmering river, the river breeze caressing your face, and enjoy the classic Shanghai beach "waves rushing, waves flowing..." Enjoy this classic beauty
I really like it here. It's nice to feel the river breeze and look at the different styles of buildings on both sides of the river and those unknown birds.
The Bund has different flavors during the day and at night, and both are worth a visit. You can sit by the river, order a cup of coffee, and savor this city that has witnessed China's vicissitudes of the past century. The scenery on both sides of the Huangpu River is undoubtedly the best real preservation.
2015-10: The pedestrian avenue next to Lujiazui, on the east bank of the Huangpu River, facing the Bund across the river.
The other side of the Huangpu River is completely different from the Bund. The Bund is simple and elegant in style, while the buildings here are modern, simple and fashionable. If you have time, it is best to walk along the river on both sides to experience the different styles.
I've lived here for three and a half years, and ever since I first stumbled upon this road downstairs, my story has been full of twists and turns...
The scenery is breathtaking! Each section offers its own unique beauty, and there's much to explore. From the foot of Tomson Yipin in the east to Pudong Avenue in the west, the route stretches approximately 4.5 kilometers, making it a perfect spot for running, walking, and enjoying the river views. The southern section, with the Bund across the river, offers breathtaking views.
I took my first steps in night running here, and continued to do so until I finished my first marathon. It’s been a while since I moved here, but it still feels so familiar!
It was very windy when I went there, so it should be beautiful at night!
The night view is amazing, and it feels great to stroll along it with your lover! Looking at the Bund across the Huangpu River, friends, take some time to go and see it!
Binjiang Boulevard is actually on the other side of the Bund, a must-see for tourists visiting Shanghai. Looking across the river from Binjiang Boulevard, you can see the Bund's international architectural complex. From the Bund, you'll see modern buildings, while from Binjiang Boulevard, you'll see classical architecture. This blend of Chinese and Western, ancient and modern, has created one of Shanghai's most iconic attractions.
To go to Binjiang Avenue, you can take Shanghai Metro Line 2 directly to Lujiazui Station and follow the signs to walk to Binjiang Avenue. You can also take the sightseeing tunnel from the Bund on the opposite bank to cross the river and reach Binjiang Avenue.
Like the Bund, Riverside Boulevard is bustling year-round, and even more so on holidays. It's truly a throng, but it's well worth a visit. Arrive near dusk and stroll along the avenue to admire the magnificent architecture of the Bund across the river from day to night. Stop and watch the lights slowly turn on and the bells ring – a truly exotic sight, reflecting the bustling Shanghai of the time. Turn and look up, and you'll see the Oriental Pearl Tower and the surrounding modern buildings. Riverside Boulevard is truly worth a visit.
Riverside Boulevard is quiet and leisurely in the morning, bustling and brightly lit at night. After visiting many famous and often overcrowded tourist attractions, a stroll along Riverside Boulevard is truly a delight. Feel the breeze off the Huangpu River, listen to the incessant chirping of cicadas in the trees, and momentarily forget the stress of work and the worries of life. Find a coffee shop along Riverside Boulevard and enjoy some alone time. It's guaranteed to be a wonderful experience!
Completed in 1997, Binjiang Boulevard stretches approximately 2.5 kilometers from Taidong Road along the Huangpu River to Dongchang Road. Facing the Bund's international architectural complex across the river, it boasts a riverfront location and is known as Pudong's new Bund. In the middle of Binjiang Boulevard, the abandoned Lujiazui Ferry Terminal remains, a testament to decades of ferry service history.
Relatively speaking, Binjiang Boulevard has far fewer tourists than the Bund. However, a night tour of Binjiang Boulevard, overlooking the Bund from across the river, offers even more beautiful views. You can also admire the modern skyscrapers of Pudong up close, creating a beautiful scene.
I just stopped by for a stroll and enjoyed the crisp autumn air, which was refreshing for a stroll. The Riverside Boulevard runs along the Huangpu River for 2,500 meters, featuring a plaza, fountains, a cruise ship terminal, and a waterfront platform. The surrounding greenery is also well-planned, and the scenery is quite pleasant. This is definitely one of the larger free parks, and it's close to the river. Walking further in, you can see ships and a small dock on the water. However, the park itself isn't particularly distinctive. It's primarily planted with artificial flowers and plants. Several artificial greenhouses have been constructed, perhaps to create an idyllic scene of flowers, greenhouses, and paths. However, the dust and air pollution from the surrounding roads and buildings haven't been able to filter out the air. The sky was gray when I visited, making it difficult to experience this natural landscape as it should be. Many of the walkways are also artificially paved plastic tracks, and I imagine people are running and exercising here in the afternoon and evening. The blooming flowers attract crowds of photographers, many of whom are photographing the flowers with their DSLRs, some even lying on the ground. But the biggest weakness is that the surrounding air and environment are not fresh and clear enough, making people still not very comfortable walking inside.
Binjiang Avenue is as good as the Bund for a stroll.
Binjiang Avenue is located in Lujiazui, Pudong, by the Huangpu River. It is about 2,500 meters long and is a sightseeing and leisure avenue. From here you can overlook the buildings of the Bund in Puxi, especially at night when the bright lights of the Bund are in full view.
It's a great idea to spend a relaxing afternoon strolling along Binjiang Boulevard. When you're tired, find an open-air cafe and watch the sunset. I personally think it's more captivating than gazing at the modern buildings of Pudong from the Bund.
You can see the international buildings in Puxi from Pudong. The scenery is great.
I thought it would feel similar to the Bund, but it's actually quite different and very beautiful. I recommend taking a walk there at night.
It's quite pleasant to drink some wine by the river, enjoy the breeze and watch the night view.
A great place overlooking the Bund across the river! Worth a visit!
A sidewalk along the Huangpu River, chained off near the water. From here, you can see the Bund, especially beautiful at night. Many TV series, like Men's Gang, have been filmed here. It felt familiar upon arrival.
It is better to go at night, as the Bund is across the street and you can admire the buildings across the street.
I imagined Binjiang Avenue to be a wide boulevard along the river. However, after searching for it for a whole afternoon, I was surprised to find that the actual Binjiang Avenue was completely different from what I imagined. It was just a narrow path along the Huangpu River, with almost no tourists. However, I heard that many TV dramas were filmed here.
Overlooking the Shanghai International Architecture Complex across the river, you can stroll, rest, and dine.
We recommend the newest extension of Riverside Boulevard, Shanghai Shipyard Riverside Boulevard (from Taitongzhan Ferry Station to Qichangzhan Ferry Station). This stretch is perfect for a leisurely stroll along the Huangpu River, enjoying the beautiful scenery on both sides, feeling the gentle breeze, and gazing at the vibrant cityscape of North Bund and the vibrant red rainbow across the Huangpu River (Yangpu Bridge).
It is quite pleasant to stroll along the river and feel the river breeze.
After a satisfying meal and drinks, we decided to stroll along Binjiang Boulevard. Along the outermost circle of Lujiazui, we admired the night view of the Bund across the street. At the same time, we were still inside Lujiazui, strolling along the riverside. I couldn't help but feel that proposing under such a bright and beautiful scene would be particularly romantic and atmospheric.
To see the night view of Lujiazui, you must walk along Binjiang Avenue, and one day we stayed at the beginning of Binjiang Avenue, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel!
This is the view of the Bund from Binjiang Avenue.
These places are the best places for night views in Shanghai, and they are also classics. If you have time, you should take a look.
Binjiang Avenue is a pedestrian thoroughfare located along the Huangpu River, across from Shanghai's Bund area. Chain railings line the Huangpu River, and couples sit on the shore for leisure. The river and boats create a beautiful scenery that's sure to captivate you.
Address: Along the river between Dongchang Road and Pudong South Road, Pudong New Area
Transportation: Address: Bus lines 81, 82, 870, 871, and 872 on Line 2. Tunnels 3, 4, 5, and 6 are all accessible. From the Bund, you can take a ferry from the Jinling East Road intersection to the Pudong Dongchang Road intersection. This is a cheap and fast ferry that offers scenic views of the Huangpu River.
After getting off the boat, you can reach Binjiang Avenue in a few steps. It is quieter here than the Bund. It is very pleasant to stroll leisurely along the river and look at the scenery on the opposite bank.
Across from the Bund is Binjiang Boulevard, surrounded by the Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone. Worth a visit, get off at Lujiazui Station on Metro Line 2.
After visiting the Oriental Pearl Tower, I walked quietly along Binjiang Avenue alone, looking at the Bund opposite. It felt really good.
The view of the Bund from this side is quite different from that from the other side, and it is worth a look. Mainly because there are relatively fewer people here, it is especially suitable for strolling along the river in the evening, waiting for the lights on the opposite side to come on.
I come back to this place several times a year and it feels quite clean and tidy. Don't go during the peak tourist season, as all you see are people and you don't see the beauty. During the off-season, when there are fewer people, walking quietly along the Huangpu River at dawn or dusk, the rare silence makes you feel like you're away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
While most people enjoy the Bund's night view from the Huangpu River on the Puxi side, the view from Binjiang Avenue on the Lujiazui side offers a different experience.
Binjiang Avenue has a completely different feeling from the Bund. It is closer to the water, quieter, and more suitable for strolling. It happened that the weather was also very good that day, with blue sky and white clouds, which was beautiful.
The impression I get here is better than the Bund. There are fewer people, the environment is good, the scenery is good, the air is good, and it is very suitable for a stroll.
The Binjiang Avenue during the day is completely different from the night. It is peaceful and tranquil during the day, while the neon lights are flashing and the night is full of singing and dancing.
Anyone who's walked along Nanjing Road to the Bund knows you can't fall there (you're likely to get stepped on). Shanghai's modern skyscrapers at night are certainly visually striking. But who can say the illuminated buildings of various countries don't offer a different experience? Most importantly, there are fewer people here.
This should be the quietest place in Lujiazui, by the Huangpu River. I sat on the grass nearby for half an afternoon.
On one side is the Bund, and on the other side is this place. If you want to see the overall style of the Bund, this is the most suitable place.
Compared to Puxi, this side is less crowded and very quiet. The night view of Pudong from here is very beautiful, not inferior to that from the Bund.
At first I thought it was just a driveway, but when I saw it later I thought it was a riverside promenade. After walking for a while I realized it was not ordinary... This is a three-dimensional promenade, not a pure riverside. I started walking from the Dongjiang Riverside Green Area. I forgot whether it was a sightseeing pier or a small square. Anyway, many elderly people brought their children to play here. Walking north, the first section was all kinds of flowers, plants and trees, and it didn't feel special. As the sky darkened, the lights came on, and the Bund on the opposite bank began to shine. After passing the Uranofune Restaurant, a section of the promenade began to be built in the air, and more people came out for a walk after dinner. The scenery at this time gradually became better.
Within ten minutes, the Aurora Building loomed. Later, I learned that it was one of several key attractions along Riverside Boulevard, along with the scenic spots of Fuxing Jiu Ji (Reflections on the Past and Present), Happy Plaza, Three Springs Playing with Pearls, Listening to the Waves, Heaven and Earth Returning to Oneness, Tranquility and Profound Peace, and Lovers' Whispers. The area around the Oriental Pearl Tower on Riverside Boulevard is the most spectacular scene on the east bank of the Huangpu River. This sloping green belt features numerous fountains, water curtain walls, and open-air music plazas, creating a striking three-dimensional effect. The central waterfront terrace features a water feature plaza, comprised of cascading fountains, flowing walls, and waterfalls. At high tide, you can even tread water. The terrace offers the perfect vantage point, with the Oriental Pearl Tower as its backdrop and a panoramic view of the Bund's historic buildings.
