Dongping Forest Park, formerly a forest farm, boasts a 90% forest coverage rate. Fir and camphor trees fill the park, providing exceptional shade and protection from the summer heat. Tickets are 70 yuan per person, and there are discounts for purchasing online a day in advance.

👉 I highly recommend renting a bicycle and freely roaming the forest park wherever you want. While the park is quite large, most intersections are well-marked with signposts, so you don't have to worry about getting lost or missing an exit. (You can also use Baidu Maps to find the park's roads.)

If you're lucky, you might encounter a forest spotted goat. They're clingy, eat snails, and roll around in the grass, bravely surviving in the forest. If you're even luckier, you might encounter two white goats, who scream with hunger, even after being fed lots of grass and leaves. They're truly the biggest eaters of the goat world.

Next to the goats is the RV camping area in the forest park. Each RV has a small patio with a barbecue, shaded by greenery. The RVs are Relax RVs, with relatively simple decor. A night in an RV here costs around 1,000 yuan, but the area is quite small, and aside from barbecuing, dining options aren't very convenient, so I wouldn't recommend RV camping here.

📌There are a few scenes in the forest that are quite whimsical and mixed, perfect for taking some unique photos, like a fighter jet suddenly appearing right in front of you, a bumper car that no one cares about in the forest, an empty camphor tree forest with a slightly eerie atmosphere, and a family of giraffes on the side of the road...

The central part of Chongming Island, a rare green lung of the city, is suitable for leisure in the suburbs.

By China-TravelNote users |

I went there around 2pm.

Only one amusement area was completed.

It's a pity that there are many children in the play area.

Suitable for outings,

By Little Sakura |

I took my parents here to play. The park is very big, the air is very good, and the green plants have been growing tall and big for many years.

By Looking up at the sky |

It's not bad, actually it's quite big, but it's not very convenient, it's too far away

By Dongdongqiang |

After buying a ticket and entering, the first thing I saw was the numerous bird cages hanging on both sides of the road. When I arrived, there were not many people there, and they were quite scattered. Some were playing football by the lake, some were enjoying food at the barbecue area, and some were playing with their children on the playground equipment. But what really attracted me was the lush green forest. Walking through it was very peaceful, as if I were actually walking through a primeval forest.

Dongping National Forest Park is quite large, and the route is unclear. We rode for about half an hour and ended up back where we started. We were a little tired, so we just sat by the river, enjoying the breeze and watching the cormorants. There wasn't much else to do.

By melody |

The so-called forest park is rich in vegetation, so it's a good place to bring your children to absorb negative ions and bask in the sun. The forest park is quite large, covering 5,400 acres, equivalent to two centuries of parks. If you can't walk, you can take the train. Another big advantage of traveling during off-peak hours is that there are really few people.

By The sun chases the koala |

I think the 60 yuan ticket is not worth it. There are only trees around, and there is nothing to see. There are a lot of people in the children's playground, and there are few people in other places. In the deer park in the park, the deer looked very hungry. There were several fences between tourists and deer, so you can only watch. Just think of it as a breath of fresh air. Buy a ticket on China-TravelNote and you can enter the park directly with just the QR code.

Dongping Forest Park, barbecue and play are both available.

Located in the center of Chongming Island, Dongping National Forest Park is spacious and has a fresh air. It truly feels like being in a forest. For those accustomed to city life, it truly feels like a paradise.

By Chen Si |

Nice scenery, many recreational facilities suitable for children

By Fish Flower |

Located in the central part of Chongming County, it is well-greened and has the highest negative ion concentration in Shanghai. It is also a good place for citizens to relax, students and tourists.

By forest |

If you want to barbecue, it is recommended to bring your own ingredients. It is quite fun to do it with a group of people.

As for camping, the tents we rent aren't cleaned, and the sleeping bags have a bad smell. However, if the weather is nice, camping at night, looking at the stars and the moon, and chatting with friends is a great experience. Just be prepared for some noise; our group started getting noisy around 5 p.m., and there were people singing late into the night. It all depends on your luck.

The trees inside are also a major feature, which is quite nice.

By FFFFFF |

The forest park is large, but very humid. I felt soaked the moment I entered. This isn't a place for small children. My son, who is less than 1.2 meters tall, couldn't play. So we took the electric car for the whole ride. The train doesn't run all the time; it only runs when there are a lot of visitors.

By Ashley's Little Happiness |

The fir trees are a feature, but the educated youth wall and other features have not been well developed and maintained. The amusement equipment and public facilities are very ordinary.

By KK |

If you drive from downtown Shanghai, the toll is 50 yuan.

Park parking fee: 10 yuan.

(╯з╰) The two people parked at the door and couldn’t find their wallets, so they were panicking. The cashier kept saying, “It’s over, it’s over.” It’s a bit funny to think about it.

Tickets: My boyfriend bought them online in advance, so I don't know the price. If you buy tickets online, just walk towards the main gate!

I stupidly lined up at the ticket office (luckily not many people), but the prices at the ticket office, including the price of renting a bicycle inside, were clearly marked (why didn’t I take a picture)

I rented a tandem bicycle for 20 yuan an hour. I forgot whether the deposit was 200 or 300 yuan (after all, I wasn't the one paying..)

We rode for less than an hour and toured the entire park.

The air in the forest is super fresh. It’s so fun to ride a bike passing by the osmanthus forest, lotus pond, barbecue area, RV area, etc.!

By koalani |

The most famous scenic spot on Chongming Island, with lush vegetation, it offers entertainment activities such as horse riding, go-karting, and grass skiing.

By eggplant |

The scenery is amazing, I highly recommend it! The only downside is that you can't pay by credit card, Alipay, or WeChat, and there's no ATM!

By Grimm |

I went on a weekday, so there were fewer tourists. The Easter egg shooting was closed at 4 o'clock, and rock climbing was also closed for some reason. I played a go-kart. The most important thing was that all the staff had unhappy faces, which was unpleasant to watch. This park is at most an enlarged version of Century Park. The public facilities are not perfect, and it is so far away that it really does not deserve the title of a national park.

By Shining Snow Floating Jade |

Chongming Island is really big, and Dongping Forest Park is also very big. If you don't rent a bicycle, it will be tiring. It happened to be cloudy when we went there, so it was not that hot. It felt good to walk in the park. It would be better to drive there by yourself.

By Mimi |

It was probably raining when we went, so there weren't many people in the park and the rides were closed, so the group went on a rampage...

By Hull |

From downtown, take the Shenchong Line 6 to Nanmen, then take a 48-yuan taxi to the forest park. Rent a single-person bicycle for 10 yuan per hour. It's just trees, not much else to see, but on a sunny weekend, it's fun for three people to ride around. We brought a picnic blanket and spread it out on the grass when we got tired, grab a snack, and relax. There are many team-building activities, including paintball and forest exploration, which are more fun with a group. Overall, if you don't have high expectations, it's a good weekend getaway.

By I give you yellow shorts |

The scenery of the primeval forest is very suitable for those who are in a restless mood to relax.

By Lucky Cat ICY |

You can come here to breathe fresh air on weekends, or bring your own skewers of meat to barbecue. It is recommended to book in advance. Staying in a motorhome is a good choice. It is fun to ride a bicycle in it, and you can visit everywhere.

By Delphine_C_C |

On Saturday, we drove from Zhoupu, Pudong, to Chongming Island for some fresh air. Our first stop was Dongping National Forest Park. The entrance fee was 70 yuan per person, which I found quite inexpensive. Perhaps due to the season, the park looked rather desolate, with very few visitors. The park includes an entertainment area (bumper cars, grass slides, go-karts, etc.), an RV area, and a barbecue area. We hiked around for about three hours. You can also rent bicycles or take the park's electric cars and train. Honestly, the park isn't particularly distinctive or eye-catching, with more metasequoia and palm trees. The most interesting thing about it was probably the parrots at the entrance that said "Welcome," "Hello," and "Waiter." Don't forget to play with them.

By W_hanmei |

It exceeded my expectations. There is a big forest and a big oxygen bar. After entering, I found that my great China is great and the air is beautiful.

By amber |

It's very suitable for the whole family to travel. It's really comfortable to rent a bicycle. The barbecue park is also very good.

By Cyan chain |

To be honest, this park is quite boring. If you are not here for barbecue or parent-child activities, you don't need to spend money on it. There are many similar parks in the city. The same type of forest park, Mingzhu Lake on Chongming Island is much more natural than it, not so commercialized, and there are far fewer people. It feels like it doesn't live up to its name. There are many interactive facilities and many facilities for children. It is quite suitable for bringing children to spend money. If you come here to relax, the scenery is really monotonous. Maybe it's the wrong weather or season.

By MoLi-Girl |

Dongping National Forest Park is located in the north-central part of Chongming Island, China's third largest island, 12 kilometers from the county seat (Nanmen Port). With a total area of 5,400 mu, it is the largest plain artificial forest in East China. It is a famous tourist destination in Shanghai, a national 4A-level tourist attraction, and a national agricultural tourism demonstration site.

By Yokky |

Beautiful scenery, suitable for holiday leisure travel

By Fat-free whole wheat |

This place is not too big, but not too small either. The air is really fresh. There weren't many people when I went there, so it felt pretty good.

The public facilities are not very complete, mainly reflected in the fact that many marked facilities have not been built. I asked the people in Chongming and they said that maybe they will not be built...

If you rent a bicycle here, it costs 10 yuan per hour, the ticket is 70 yuan per person, and the small train is 30 yuan (not very interesting).

The whole time I borrowed the bike was only an hour, and I mainly took photos and chatted with my old classmates.

The special feature here is its RV rental, which is an American-style RV rented to you, which can be used for barbecues and parties.

Music festivals and parent-child activities are also held regularly. They were not there when I went there, but I saw some remaining facilities and advertisements.

It’s more convenient to drive there. It’s a good place for outdoor activities, but it’s a bit far!

By |

We drove there last year. The air there was pretty good, and it was National Day. There were a lot of people, and there were a lot of snack vendors! The snack vendors were doing really good business. It was inconvenient to go to the restroom. 😂Other things were okay~ I bought some Chongming cakes on the way home. They didn't seem very tasty. Some families went out with their whole families, and they spread a blanket or something inside, and brought snacks and stuff. There were horseback riding inside, but there were a lot of people lining up, and we originally wanted to ride horses. There were too many people, so we didn't ride horses! This is my first time writing. It's not very good. Please forgive me. You can bring your parents or your family to play there,

By Tickets |

Our company went on a team building trip to the Forest Park for a barbecue. We brought our own stove and ingredients, and each person had to pay a 10 yuan fee. If you walk from Gate 2 to the barbecue area, it's about a 20-minute walk. If you take the train to the second-to-last stop, it's about a half-hour ride. It was a very pleasant afternoon, playing cards, barbecuing, and chatting.

By Geoffrey the Giraffe |

From the city center, take the subway to the Science and Technology Museum, transfer to the Shenchong Line 2 to Chenjia Town, then transfer to the Nanyu Line to South Gate, and then transfer to the Nandong Line to the scenic area. The total journey takes nearly five hours, with two hours of cycling in the scenic area. The scenic area includes the Baizhu Forest, Rainbow Building, Deer Park, RV camping, barbecue areas, and other recreational activities such as rock climbing, grass skiing, go-karting, and horseback riding. The rock climbing, however, is old and feels unsafe due to its age. Bicycle rentals require a deposit, and they are all grocery carts; there are no mountain bikes. Barbecue grills cost 60 yuan, and DIY barbecue sides are quite expensive, much more expensive than buying barbecue directly in the city. The scenery is similar to that of a typical park, with many trees but few flowers. The scenic area is quite large, so you must cycle, rent a scenic bus, or take the charming miniature train. The scenic area is 37 kilometers from the Xisha Wetland, but there is no direct bus, so you can only take a taxi or a minivan, which takes about 40 minutes. Alternatively, take the bus to South Gate Station and transfer to the Xisha Islands, but this is a time-consuming option. Considering that the scenery is similar to Century Park, but the transportation is too far and inconvenient, it is not highly recommended.

There is an RV there. I experienced it for one night. It was quite novel. Please ask not to go on a hot day. I can finally go barbecue. I brought a small electric stove and ate hot pot in the RV.

The Dad Association organized a trip to Chongming~

If you have nothing to do during National Day, go check it out~

Relax and breathe some fresh air.

I heard about this place when I was in college.

I've always wanted to come here~

Although it's a little different from what I imagined~

But there are indeed many trees~ and they are towering into the clouds~

A natural oxygen bar~

All you see is pure green~

It's quite comfortable to walk around and enjoy the breeze~

This is something you can never enjoy in the city - nature.

Occasionally, I see a few sika deer walking by~~~

But maybe it's the wrong season~I didn't see any flowers~

Osmanthus Road and Cherry Blossom Road are still lush and green, which is a pity.

In addition, the recreational facilities are relatively backward.

But I personally think that when you come to a place like this, you should just enjoy the pristine nature. That's a bit redundant.

The Metasequoia glyptostroboides, known as "living fossils," boasts towering, graceful forms and a vast population. It's the park's primary tree species, dotted across nearly every corner. Because Metasequoia trees are rarely pest- and disease-prone, strolling beneath them creates a refreshing and relaxing atmosphere. Walking along the forest path is truly breathtaking, filled with the refreshing aroma of herbs. The flowers in the garden after the rain are truly beautiful. Strolling through the park leaves my lungs feeling refreshed and cleansed. The air is crisp and refreshing, with a hint of herbal aroma—it's truly wonderful!

The winding paths lead to a secluded place, which seems like a fairyland.

By Small fish sauce |

The park is very large and very suitable for cycling. It also has entertainment activities such as zip lines.

By Yang Leduo |

The park is huge, with plenty of grassy areas for tents, kite flying, and sunbathing. There's also a small lake with two-person pedalos and a giant water ball. There's also a children's playground with a single-plank bridge, seesaw, and more. Further down the main road, there's grass skiing, ziplining, go-karts, and even rock climbing. The climbing wall didn't seem very high, but I didn't see anyone reaching the top despite watching for quite a while.

By rokiy |

The place is very big, but it was a bit late when we went there, so we only rode for 2 hours, but the scenery was still nice.

By Xiaolu Kylin |

The mountains and waters are beautiful, suitable for vacation, you can bring your own barbecue and leisure entertainment. It is worth a visit

By Lake Clear |

It is currently the largest plain artificial forest in East China. Actually, I knew this before I came here, but I was still too proud and thought that I could just walk around. As it turned out, I walked until my legs cramped and I only walked halfway.

By Fulaiwei Little Ginger |

Walking around, taking a breath, looking around, and thinking about things is a good option, but the entrance fee is not cheap. Also, my child has a bicycle, but the security guard wouldn't let him in and forced him to rent it inside, which was a bit unpleasant! It's not that I'm reluctant to rent it, but the bicycles inside are too big and there are no bicycles suitable for children around 10 years old. I hope the park can be more user-friendly in this regard.

By Simple and free |

The entrance fee to the forest park was 70 yuan. We hired a ticket scalper to get us in for 50 yuan each, but we didn't even see a ticket. The park is quite large, and there are bicycle rentals at the entrance. Single bikes are 20 yuan per hour, and double bikes are 10 yuan per hour. However, it was raining that day, so we decided not to use the "convertible" bikes.

Since it was raining, hiking wasn't a good idea. We decided to take the train, which offered two options: an electric car for 30 yuan per person that went around the park without stopping, and a mini-train for 20 yuan per person that ran every half hour for eight stops.

There's not much to see in the park, except for the trees. The air quality is good, but all the rides require a separate fee, and because it was raining, they were all closed. It's just a park, and I don't know why the entrance fee is so expensive. Tickets to forest parks in Shanghai are usually around 10 or 20 yuan.

The biggest feature of this park is probably the barbecue. At the sixth stop of the train, there is a barbecue camp, which is a small pavilion. The park prohibits bringing your own barbecue grills, so I guess they will provide you with one, or help you grill.

By Dynamic Super Brother |

The weather was beautiful this morning, and the air was fresh. September weather is quite humid, and our tent was completely soaked. Luckily, the tents were very durable, so even though it was damp outside, the inside was completely dry. For those planning to camp, be sure to bring a good tent, and a mat is essential.

The park was quite crowded. We arrived at 4:30 p.m. and booked tickets online in advance (60 yuan each), which allowed us to enter without a hitch. We had so much stuff: three families, three tents, a canopy, a table for four, mats, sleeping bags, water, pots, and a barbecue grill. Luckily, I had come prepared with a trailer, but we didn't have the courage to haul it all to the barbecue camping area. So we bought bus tickets. The ticket seller, seeing how many of us we were and how much stuff we had, asked for two more tickets, each at 20 yuan per person. With our stuff, there was only room for six people, so the electric car took us to our destination for 160 yuan and 10 minutes. I wondered what we were going to do when we came back tomorrow. The driver said we could call her and she would come pick us up. Wow, we made a profit on 160 yuan in 10 minutes. What a profit!

Admission is 70 yuan per person. The park is quite large, with a wide variety of vegetation and high coverage, making it a great place for plant photography enthusiasts. Couples and students renting tandem bicycles can be seen everywhere, as well as families setting up tents for camping and barbecuing. Perhaps due to the Golden Week holiday, the park seemed quite crowded and bustling. My only complaint was the park's water supply: the rivers I saw were almost all stagnant and heavily polluted, undermining the park's reputation as a national forest park.

By Light and shadow distance |

Turning north to ride along the highway, the scenery along the way is like this, it's really comfortable.

There seems to be a small river in front of every house.

By Sunny day |

It's quite large, and I had high expectations. However, the road signs inside are not very clear. I recommend renting a car to explore. Bicycles are more convenient. If you take the train, you will only be able to explore the outer circle.

By Nian Qu |

There are tourist buses that take you directly from Shanghai to this forest park, so you can spend a whole day there. The most impressive thing was seeing a sika deer and feeding it with water with my friends. It was so hot, but we couldn't help it... It's a great place to ride bikes with friends, sharing one. It's fun!

Dongping National Forest Park. I feel that the management is quite laissez-faire, with almost no staff inside. After buying the ticket, I just wandered around inside, but the air was really good, and I took a lot of photos of insects.

By *Senbonzakura* |

I visited the forest park when I was very young, and it's largely unchanged since then. There weren't many visitors that day, and once we dispersed into the park, we barely encountered anyone. Walking along the path lined with towering trees was truly relaxing. The air was incredibly fresh and peaceful, and the environment was vibrant, with abundant birdlife and a verdant landscape.

By Hengzhi Jingling |

Dongping National Forest Park, the largest man-made plain forest in East China, is truly soothing. The vast expanse of green invites you to breathe deeply and deeply. After the bustle of life, people still yearn for a pure land, a place of tranquility. Let go of everything, immerse yourself in nature, and embrace spring. To explore the entire park, take the train or rent a bicycle. A stroll offers both scenic views and exercise – what's not to like?

By Joy like a lotus |

This season is not the most beautiful on Chongming Island. It is past the blooming of spring flowers and not yet the colorful autumn leaves. Moreover, it is also the holiday season when people are crowded. The lush green forest still seems crowded and noisy. Only by going deeper and deeper can you find a sense of tranquility and a feeling of being in harmony with nature.

By strawberryfields |

Because my father is an employee of the park, I have come to the forest park countless times since I was a child. Personally, I feel that it is better to come here in spring and summer. The metasequoia trees are green and shaded, which is very comfortable and refreshing. For those who are used to the forest of steel and concrete, it is a good choice to come here to breathe fresh air and experience the natural oxygen bar.

By Han Xiao |

There is nothing particularly beautiful here, because it is artificial after all, and naturally it does not have the beauty of those strange mountains and rivers. It's just the Metasequoia trees in the park, which are called Metasequoia. They are very tall and straight, so the whole park is sunny except for the lake. The rest of the park is all shaded, haha, it's very nice, the tree-lined avenue, and then a breeze blew by. It was the osmanthus season in August, and the fragrance of the flowers made us not want to leave. It was too comfortable and really in a good mood.

The vibrant greenery and vibrant blossoms of the garden add to the enchanting charm of the season, heightening the atmosphere of interaction between humans and nature. The sky appears clearer than ever before, and the trees and flowers possess an indescribable ethereal quality, creating the feeling of wandering through a captivating poem or painting. Flowers bloom like snow, bees and butterflies dance, the fragrance fills the air, and birds sing in the branches. April is the most beautiful month on earth. The captivating spring scenery of Chongming Island Forest Park, as gentle as a warm breeze and as moving as a love song, captivates the senses. The spring scenery is harmonious, the weather is gentle, the flowers bloom, the branches are green, the grass and trees are lush, and the fields are fragrant. Such a beautiful scene invites a group of friends for a drive together, feeling the gentle breeze on your face, and it is an indescribable pleasure.

Ride along the winding paths covered in yellow and tender green, watch the flowers bloom, listen to the chirping of birds, and experience the beauty of the lakes, mountains, streams and flowing clouds with the feeling of letting your mind fly.

Chongming Island has so many facets: rapeseed flowers, lavender, wetlands, reeds, farmland, the ocean, and even cyclists. On this tiny island, all the beauty is gathered, like a fairytale dream. Facing such scenery, we couldn't help but cheer.

The time is quiet and good. If you are tired, leave the hustle and bustle and come here to breathe in the fresh air and greedily integrate into nature.

The park isn't very large, but the air is still very fresh. The day I visited, there weren't many people, so the paths were relatively empty, perfect for cycling. If you skip the attractions, you can explore the entire park in two hours. There are many talking starlings at the park entrance. Every time a visitor approaches, they say, "Hello," "Welcome," "Have fun," and so on. They're so adorable.

It's not as big as you might think. If you're riding a bike around, two hours is enough to get around (assuming you're just strolling around the park without using any of the recreational facilities). The scenery inside is nice, but there's nothing particularly outstanding.

Dongping National Forest Park, as soon as I entered the gate, these guys kept saying "Hello" and "Welcome" to me.

It was just after the holiday and it wasn't the weekend, so there were very few people around. I didn't see many people when I went around the park. It felt great to race.

It wasn't a weekend when I went, so there were very few people and it was very quiet. Riding a bike alone felt like wandering in the forest, which was very comfortable.

This is the largest plain artificial forest in East China and a great place to cleanse your lungs. The park is lush with bamboo, winding paths, rippling blue waters, and full of wildness. Wandering in it will make you feel like you are in a world of peace. Very beautiful

A natural oxygen bar. I took my kids there. It's suitable for family outings. You can set up tents in the barbecue area and stay overnight.

I went there with many classmates on my graduation trip. It was surrounded by green trees and the air was fresh. It was very beautiful. You can also go boating and cycling. It's a good place to relax on the weekend.

Very good, I will go there again if I have the chance. I just played around briefly and will have more fun next time.

This is Shanghai's last remaining haven. The air is fresh, the sky is blue. And its most striking feature is the abundance of children and elderly people. People here are friendly and harmonious. If there's any place in Shanghai where you can leave your doors unlocked at night, it's probably here.

There is a relatively large parking lot opposite Gate 1 of Dongping National Forest Park. Private cars can be parked at the door. It is very close and you don’t have to walk a long way.

There were five of us in total, and we rented three single bikes and one tandem bike. (Single bikes are 10 yuan/hour, tandem bikes are 20 yuan/hour, and a deposit is required.)

It is really necessary to rent this bicycle. It is not tiring and you can visit more places. You can stop at any time when you want to take pictures.

There are so many cats in the park~~They are all fat. We went there late and it was already time for lunch when we arrived, so we got straight to the point and looked for their FB address as soon as we arrived.

My colleagues had already inquired about the barbecue area inside. The prices were reasonable. Lamb skewers were 3 yuan each, saury was 7 yuan each, and there were also skewers of meat, vegetables, and more. I was in charge of the food and didn't go shopping, so I don't know the exact prices. But the five of us ate until we were stuffed to death and still spent less than 400 yuan, which was not bad.

But please note that if you want to bring your own barbecue, you cannot bring the stove into the park. It is specifically stated at the entrance of Gate No. 1. The barbecue area is still very open and is barbecued in a roofed pavilion. It is quite good.

It was a bit windy that day

Dongping Forest Park is just opposite Yiqin Garden, and it's a short walk away. Cycling around the park is the boss's favorite activity, and everyone agreed to it, regardless of whether they can ride or not. The autumn atmosphere in the forest park is even more intense, the metasequoia trees are a bright and rich yellow, and the little green has gradually retreated.
