Tongji University was founded in 1907 and is still famous today. Currently, the university has 29 professional colleges and four campuses: Siping Road, Jiading, Huxi, and Hubei. This time we are visiting the Siping Road campus.

This is the main campus of Tongji University. The campus is very quiet and green. The architectural styles of various teaching buildings are also very distinctive. It is quite pleasant to take a leisurely stroll. After all, Tongji University is characterized by its architecture major.

Tongji University is open to the public. When I went there on weekends, there were tourists everywhere. There were so many people. Last week I went to see the Cherry Blossom Avenue which is very popular on the Internet. There were many flowers blooming, but there were even more tourists... In the end I didn't squeeze in, so I just took a few photos outside.

Of course, my alma mater must be top-notch. I wanted to get into the school because I went there for the cherry blossom avenue. Every April, it is crowded with tourists.

One of the first seven national universities in China, it is one of the four most prestigious universities in Shanghai, along with Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and East China Normal University. The school's architecture program is very famous. If you have children, bring them along to see it and get to know them earlier.

Tongji University actively promotes internationalization and has become a vital gateway for international exchange in education, culture, and science. In addition to the influential Sino-German Academy, Sino-French Academy, Sino-German Engineering Academy, and Sino-Italian Academy, Tongji University also boasts institutions such as the United Nations Environment Programme-Tongji University School of Environment and Sustainable Development, which collaborates with relevant UN agencies, and the UNESCO Asia-Pacific World Heritage Institute of Training and Research (Shanghai).



Many world-renowned scholars and foreign dignitaries have been appointed honorary doctorates and professors, including Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi, former German Chancellors Helmut Kohl and Gerhard Schröder, former UN Under-Secretary-General Jörg Töpfer, renowned architect I.M. Pei, Nobel Prize winner Reinhard Selten, and member of the Collège de France Cheng Baoyi. With the smooth progress of the Sino-German Friendship Hospital and the Sino-Italian Design Center, as well as the official operation of three Confucius Institutes in Japan and Germany, Tongji University's international exchange will be further expanded.

I came to your city and walked the same path you took here.

The campus is well-greened and has nice scenery, making it worth a visit. However, the security guard was very rude when I asked for directions. He spoke in a bad tone and was arrogant, which ruined my mood.

As a soon-to-be-departed Jinan student, I'm drawn to the unique architecture and the concrete-clad gates of Tongji University, rather than its cherries and food stalls. Having been to Fudan University and Jiaotong University, I'm still drawn to Tongji University. The architectural beauty of its buildings and the campus layout, which appeals to a straight-A student, are what really draw me to it.

There are two things I will miss: the human grass in the evening and the fat white pigeons on a lawn in the southwest.

The quality of girls at Tongji University is said to be the best among all the universities in Shanghai. I’m not sure about that, but they are definitely great, at least the best among the dozen or so universities I’ve visited! ◉‿◉

Tongji University's architecture and landscape architecture are both strong disciplines, and its campus is naturally beautiful. I prefer Tongji to Fudan. Riding a bicycle on the Tongji campus after the rain feels simple and elegant.

It later merged with the School of Engineering and became the Tongji German Medical and Engineering School. In 1927, it became National Tongji University, one of China's first seven national universities. It is very close to Fudan University, only two subway stations away, but the two schools have different styles. Unlike the liveliness of Fudan University, this place is full of the rigor of a comprehensive science university, and even the slogans are very conventional. The biggest experience is that buildings such as the Southwest Building and the 129 Site Museum are very quaint and beautiful beyond words. There are also many sports venues such as football fields and basketball courts.

Every year in late March and early April, Tongji University's Siping Road campus is bathed in pink. A 200-meter-long cherry blossom avenue showcases the vibrant beauty of spring. The dense bloom of Tongji's cherry blossoms, with its many stories, makes its beauty surpass that of any park, large or small, making it one of China's top ten cherry blossom viewing destinations and a highly sought-after, free, no-ticket attraction for Shanghai residents. Every year, it attracts flower-watchers and photographers from across the country, so during this time, Aixiao Road is incredibly crowded!

We arrived at Tongji University's Siping Road campus, and the cherry blossoms were indeed in bloom. Several trees could be seen right from the entrance. After entering Tongji University, following the crowds inside, we arrived at the "Cherry Blossom Avenue" of the Tongji Siping Road campus.

What impressed me most about Tongji University was the cherry blossoms. Both sides of Aixiao Road are lined with cherry trees, the early-blooming white variety. Because the cherry blossoms line the road, during peak bloom, the entire road becomes a sea of blossoms. For this reason, Tongji students proudly call Aixiao Road "Cherry Blossom Avenue." Here you can admire the cherry blossoms, take photos, make a wish, and express your love.

The "Whampoa Military Academy" of Shanghai's architectural design industry cultivates many outstanding architectural design talents every year.

There is a path lined with cherry trees on campus, which is very beautiful when the flowers are in bloom.

During the Chinese New Year holiday, I went to Shanghai for a cultural tour in my third year of junior high. I visited two universities in Shanghai, Tongji University and Fudan University, both of which are next to each other, so I went to both. The difference between science and engineering and liberal arts colleges is truly fundamental, just as different as the difference I experienced when visiting Tsinghua University and Peking University. The entire Tongji University campus is filled with a rigorous style. Whether it's the teaching buildings, the architecture, or the trees, they all have a pure science and engineering style, showing off the unique architecture (after all, architectural design is their major). Even the trees we passed by were standing straight, just like the Tongji people, standing upright, growing upright, and leading upright lives.

The top university in my major, I yearn for

I got into Tongji University for my postgraduate entrance exam. I think it's a really great school. If you're visiting, you can research its history, including its founding, bombing, and relocation. You can really feel the hardships of China's first medical school and its subsequent growth and development, producing military and medical personnel for national liberation. You can also visit the National Pillar and the Continuity Pillar. The cherry blossoms are a rare sight. Besides that, there's the Tongji cafeteria. The chef at the newly opened halal restaurant in Sanhaowu is said to have been hired from Xinjiang University. I really wonder if Tongji is just a place for food. Then there's the famous food stalls, with barbecued lobster, hot pot, and stir-fried dishes. The prices and cleanliness of the cafeteria are amazing, and the street food is delicious.

Twenty years ago, the Chinese idol drama "Love Is Not Blind" was filmed here. I came here specifically to check in and was surprised to find that the red brick building where Yang Zheng and Wen Hui stayed is still the same. I really like the atmosphere of Tongji University, which is quite quaint.

Tongji University, the scenery is really nice. I missed the cherry blossom season, so I rode my bike for a few laps with my friends. There were a lot of sycamore trees. The weather is getting warmer, and the roadside is full of sycamore trees. It's really cool to ride a bike under the shade of the trees.

In terms of academic level, it may not be as good as Jiaotong University and Fudan University, but in terms of scenery, it is second only to Jiaotong University in Shanghai, and it is very suitable for visiting in your spare time on weekends.

The design tour included visiting the Sino-Finnish Art Center and Maker Space at Tongji University, which was great.

I went to Tongji University during the National Day holiday and felt that the campus had a great atmosphere. It is my wife's alma mater and I could feel the characteristics of Tongji.

The Siping Road campus is less scattered than Fudan University, being a single, integrated campus. The entire campus is well-landscaped, and the school's several academic buildings and attractions are well-organized.

Sanhaowu is one of the top 100 most beautiful places in Chinese universities. It has three pavilions, one in the center of the lake and two on the mountain, making it a great place to gather friends, date and relax.

In this world-famous campus, there are ingenious architectural works everywhere, and the most unique place is Sanhaowu and its lakeside cottage. It cannot match the grandeur of the Great Hall or the rust-red features of the Sino-French Building. However, it is unique in its tranquility and leisure.

In Sanhaowu, one always feels a strong poetic atmosphere, with rippling lakes, green paths, stone bridges, and stone benches. Who says that the artistic conception of poetry cannot be found in schools of science and engineering?

My alma mater must be praised. Although objectively speaking, Tongji University does not have any outstanding scenery except cherry blossoms, but everyone knows the feeling!

Tongji University in Shanghai is a prestigious university, and it's actually quite old. I've been to Tongji's Siping Road campus, its Huxi campus, and Zhejiang College in Jiaxing. What's even more amusing is that my current university is called Zhejiang Tongji Institute of Science and Technology, which seems to have nothing to do with Shanghai Tongji. But a prestigious university is a prestigious university, especially the one on Siping Road. The exhibition area spans three floors, one of which showcases traditional Chinese architectural components—ox legs, wooden beam supports. The carving and craftsmanship are so exquisite, I won't list them all here. The lower floor displays some antique wooden utensils, which fully demonstrate the infinite creativity and practical ability of the working people, and also confirm the truth that science and technology are the primary productive forces.

The school environment is very beautiful. If you don’t want to go to the park, you can go to the school for a walk.

I spent a year at Tongji University's Shanghai North Campus. The cafeteria had a wide variety of dishes. Just outside on Zhongshan North Road, there's a place called Jixiang Xiaowandu (small wontons) that sells delicious scallions, as do the hand-pulled pancakes. Those are fond memories of my youth. Even for a kid from the south who'd never seen snow, I could still see a light dusting of snow on campus early in the morning. I visited the main campus; it was a haven for knowledge.

This prestigious university in Shanghai boasts a history of over a century, with its original campus located in Yangpu District. The beautiful campus attracts countless visitors every spring when the cherry blossoms bloom.

...Get off at Tongji University Station on Line 10 and follow the signs. Turn right after the exit and you'll find the main entrance to Tongji University. Since it's full of students, the long escalator at the subway exit is clearly marked with left-hand traffic and right-hand traffic, and there's no rush. It's a bit of a surprise, but you only see this at major campus subway stations.

...There aren't many university campuses in the city; most have moved to the suburbs. The remaining ones are mostly adult night schools, research institutes, and the like. Line 10 runs through Jiaotong University, Tongji University, and Fudan University, making it a truly prestigious metro line. If you're a campus enthusiast, spending a day visiting all three institutions, while also passing by the Shanghai Library, is a truly wonderful cultural experience.

Since my company's headquarters is near Tongji University, every time I go back, I'll walk around the campus, eat in the cafeteria, buy snacks at the canteen, and try some of the new cafes and restaurants.

...The campus has its own unique characteristics in each season. It's worth mentioning that, as mentioned earlier, there aren't many university campuses still standing in the city, so these are the only ones with towering trees. In summer, the plane trees act like a giant umbrella, shading the entire campus. In autumn, stepping on the soft, falling leaves is like stepping back in time to campus. The grounds are covered in crabapple blossoms, and the area is definitely cleaner than your average park or green space. You can sit directly on the ground, and if the weather is nice, you can even bask in the sun. It's so comfortable! Admission is free, but please remember not to disturb the tranquility and cleanliness of the campus!



...One time, I went back to headquarters for a meeting. I arrived early and wandered around Tongji University, using my then-current 4S to capture this drizzly spring morning. It was absolutely beautiful. I went to Tongji University for lunch, and it was cherry blossom season, so the campus was bustling with cherry blossom activities, which I also participated in.

Walking in the rain on the Tongda campus has a unique flavor~

Tongji University's civil engineering and architecture programs are truly impressive. It's a bit like Renmin University—small but sophisticated. But I visited Tongji on a bright sunny day, quietly reclining on a wooden chair, gazing up at the speckled light filtering through the leaves of the sycamore trees. I truly felt that the world was so peaceful and blissful at that moment. So, when it comes to travel, it's not about seeing a ton of unique scenery. It's about encountering the right scenery at the right time, in the right mood, and those views will leave a truly unique impression on you.

Tongji University is close to Fudan University, so I recommend visiting both together. From Fudan, take the 960 bus to Miyun Road or Chifeng Road, which takes about 10 minutes. The campus scenery rivals Fudan's, though its location limits its size. However, since the university specializes in architecture, the architecture is impressive, especially the gate. Unlike other universities, the campus is also home to numerous sycamore trees, creating a tree-lined avenue in the summer. In April, when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, Tongji University is packed with people.

I went there after graduating from high school. It was really nice. There is a kind of university called other people’s university. So, study hard.

Tongji University has very convenient transportation. The campus is located on Siping Road, so there are many buses going there. Line 10 is right at the main entrance.

Personally, I feel that after visiting Fudan, Tongji is not as beautiful as it used to be. Tongji has more visitors.

Tongji University's main campus is easily accessible. Just off Line 10, you're right at the main entrance. While the university is renowned for its civil engineering, I'm not particularly impressed by its architecture. Perhaps it's because I've been there so long. I've often lived in the Jiading campus, and the character of Jiading is its desolateness. If you visit Shanghai during busy times like May Day, National Day, or New Year's Day, it's definitely the most convenient way to explore the campus. You can avoid the crowds and experience the school's atmosphere. The scenery is also quite nice.

The campus of Tongji University is also very ancient and quaint.
