There are many tourists and photographers coming here. If you want to take good photos, you need to be patient.

Of course, this place is also very popular with film and television dramas. "The Bund", "Lust, Caution", "Tiny Times" and other dramas were filmed here.

The most well-known scene in the TV series "Romance in the Rain" where Yiping jumps into the river was not filmed there, but at the Songjiang Film and Television Base, although the prototype was the Waibaidu Bridge.

The area east of Waibaidu Bridge is Huangpu Park, and there is a dedicated walking trail from Waibaidu Bridge to Huangpu Park.

Waibaidu Bridge. When I first saw it, I thought it was the bridge Yiping jumped from. Later, I looked it up and found that while the original is from this bridge, Yiping actually jumped from the replica of Waibaidu Bridge at the Shanghai Chedun Film and Television Base.

On the last day, we didn't plan to visit any specific attractions, mainly because we felt it would be a waste of time to waste time visiting attractions. We rented a car that day and drove around.

After passing the Waibaidu Bridge, it is also a famous check-in spot. The place where Yiping jumped off the bridge in "Romance in the Rain" was built at the film and television base to imitate the Waibaidu Bridge.

The Suzhou River flows from the west and merges into the Huangpu River here. The bridge at the terminus was completed in 1907. Because it does not charge a toll, it is called the Baidu Bridge.

Today, this 110-year-old bridge, China's first all-steel riveted bridge, has become an outstanding historical protection building in Shanghai and one of the must-see attractions for tourists visiting the Bund.

The Waibaidu Bridge, China's first all-steel riveted bridge and the only remaining unequal-height truss bridge, opened to traffic on January 20, 1908. With its rich history and unique design, the Waibaidu Bridge has become a landmark of Shanghai and a symbol of the city's modernization and industrialization. Over 100 years later, the bridge still exudes a unique charm.

Waibaidu Bridge at night. Waibaidu Bridge is China's first all-steel riveted bridge and the only remaining unequal-height truss bridge. It opened to traffic on January 20, 1908. Its rich history and unique design have made it a landmark of Shanghai and a symbol of the city's modernization and industrialization. All steel was imported from Britain, and British engineers completed the bridge's design and construction.

A very fashionable iron bridge, very trendy for taking photos!

By Willy |

Waibaidu Bridge is right next to the Bund, making it a great spot for photographing Lujiazui on the other side of the river. When I visited, I even saw models taking photos near the bridge. Standing on the bridge and looking towards either side, the scenery is quite different: one side is bustling with activity, the other side is quiet and peaceful.

By happiness_wu |

It was a very gloomy day and only this close-up view could be photographed. This is one of the filming locations of Love in the Rain.

This bridge has appeared in many film and television works.

I passed by and checked in. There were not many tourists. I could see the Oriental Pearl Tower and the Monument to the People's Heroes from a distance on the bridge.

A symbol and representative in the hearts of countless old Shanghainese.

I wanted to see the Outer Baidu Bridge because of the film "Deep Love in the Rain". The night view is very beautiful, and it exudes the dust of history.

By Elves in ancient Greece |

Why is this bridge so short? I remember the bridge where Yiping jumped into the river was quite high. Forgive my imagination for not going beyond the viewpoint, but the sluice gate on the side piqued my interest. Sure enough, the river is bigger than the river, and a sluice gate is needed to protect the embankment. After crossing the Waibaidu Bridge, you reach the "Suzhou River."

By Wlq |

I stayed at the Waibaidu Bridge for quite a long time but couldn't find a suitable angle to show the characteristics of the bridge well, which is a small regret.

By I don't like art, I love working overtime |

Maybe it’s because of the rainy weather, but the bridge still has a very familiar impression even if I haven’t been there before. Wedding photos are taken on the bridge from time to time, which is a combination of industry and modernity.

This is a very suitable bridge for checking in. Like the Zhongshan Bridge in Lanzhou, it carries history. It is a good angle to take pictures of Lujiazui from behind the bridge.

It is really a representative attraction

Walking along the riverbank, we arrived at the spot where Yiping jumped into the river in the TV series "Romance in the Rain." However, the TV series was filmed at a film studio, not at the Waibaidu Bridge on the Bund. Today is May 20th, and while it's drizzling, many young couples are still taking wedding photos, adding a sense of mystery to the Waibaidu Bridge.

A famous landmark in Shanghai, right next to the Bund. It looks much better after being renovated and equipped with lights.

By Shake it. |

The night view is very beautiful, just like the one Yiping danced in the movie Deep Love in the Rain, haha~

It looks good no matter how you take the photos, but please be careful

Later I heard that NBA player Yang Shaoxia came to Waibaidu Bridge during the day. I regretted not coming to see it during the day.

There were many people on the bridge taking pictures of the night view, with cameras and long guns.

By Romantic Summer Nights in Beijing |

Shanghainese are familiar with the "Grandma Bridge," a familiar sight in many films and TV series, including the scene where Yiping jumped into the river in "Romance in the Rain." At night, illuminated by LED lights, Waibaidu Bridge is a truly tranquil sight. This bridge, a testament to the passage of history and culture, tells the story of Shanghai and remains one of its symbols.

By Wang cute HHH |

After lunch, we took a short break and went to the "Waibaidu Bridge" where Yiping jumped off the river in the film "Deep Love in the Rain". Uh... this bridge is similar to the Broken Bridge in Dandong. There were policemen patrolling on the bridge. The reason why Yiping was able to jump into the river at that time must be because there were no policemen patrolling.

Waibaidu Bridge connects to the Bund, where you can enjoy the night view of Lujiazui. It is also a great place for taking photos. Many people take wedding photos here.

By Guannan |

It's been a month since I returned from Shanghai, and I haven't had time to organize my itinerary. Today, I'm taking the time to briefly summarize it. I hope it's helpful for everyone's reference. Waibaidu Bridge is located at one end of the Bund, near a Lovers' Wall where you'll always see a lot of wedding photos. Overall, it wasn't anything special. While I was there, I was able to spot an unknown water bird at night. I'm glad I've been there, so I won't comment on anything else.

By It's not about the money |

This is the place where Yiping jumped off the bridge in the TV series Romance in the Rain. Nowadays, such steadfast love is rare in the world. Even if you can hold your lover's hand, it is difficult to grow old together.

By luna_show |

This is my favorite attraction, the Waibaidu Bridge. This bridge is familiar to everyone and often appears in TV dramas. I took a lot of photos in the heavy rain.

Waibaidu Bridge is the bridge where Yiping jumped off in the movie "My Fair Princess". Many couples were taking wedding photos there. The lights on the bridge were on, which was very artistic!

By Li Mi |

It wasn't originally on my travel plans, but a spontaneous rewatch of "Suzhou River" convinced me to spend two days in Shanghai. During those two days and two nights, I continued writing my travel diary, using the spare moments on the train. Passing the Monument to the People's Heroes, I now stand on Waibaidu Bridge. I remember Mudan, from my spot, smilingly asked Mada, "You like me, don't you?" before leaping into Suzhou River.

By kelly19870 |

It's worth a visit, the scenery is nice and there is a sense of history. Generally, tour groups will go there, and it's nice to have a tour guide.

By neusunshine |

The rain-soaked Waibaidu Bridge is a scene of deep love. Even in a down jacket, people are still taking wedding photos. The scenery is truly beautiful. It's incredibly cold in Jiangnan in December. Even after a stroll in a down jacket and snow boots, I'm still freezing cold.

By Left Bank |

Waibaidu Bridge is the best filming location for movies and TV series. Whether it is the place where Xu Wenqiang and Feng Chengcheng passed by holding umbrellas in "The Bund" or the place where Yiping jumped off the bridge in "Romance in the Rain", the stories all happened on this Waibaidu Bridge. Of course, it also appeared in many movies such as "Lust, Caution", "Tiny Times", "Slam Dunk", "Big City Small Things", "One Step Away", etc. It is an authentic film and television shooting location!

When I passed by, I felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity, but I couldn’t explain it. I just knew that I passed by it when I went to the Bund. Later, I searched on Baidu and found that it was so famous. I won’t say much, and start posting pictures.

By Katherine |

The bridge where Yiping is said to have jumped off is very unique and very close to the Bund. Recommended~

By Zimei |

What a pleasant surprise! Just a short walk along the Bund, you'll find it. I highly recommend checking out the night view, which is truly stunning! The lights are dazzling and brilliant, and without the historical stagnation of the daytime, it's a completely romantic and free experience.

I didn't have enough time to come here last time. Today, after having dinner at Huigongguan, I saw that it was not far away, so I hurried over to take a look. It is right next to the Heroes Monument. The Waibaidu Bridge at night has a unique flavor, but the phone can't capture the whole picture. There are also many newlyweds taking wedding photos on the Bund at night. The bridge is not particularly large, so it's good to just pass by and take a look. No need to come here specially.

By Yongjia must go to Europe |

When mentioning the Waibaidu Bridge, the first word that comes to mind is probably "Romance in the Rain".

I stood at the bridge head and observed for a while. Sure enough, most of the tourists looked towards the place where Yiping jumped off the bridge.

The Waibaidu Bridge at night is covered with bright lights. If the original steel color during the day is a stern strong man,

At this moment, the Waibaidu Bridge is like a graceful woman from the south of the Yangtze River.

The Waibaidu Bridge looks even better at night because it's illuminated. Actually, it's just a bridge. At first, I thought the movie "Romance in the Rain" was filmed here, but later I learned that it was actually Chedun. I must go to Chedun next time.

By Cryteek |

When I went there, the bridge lights were broken. I waited for a long time but they didn't light up and it was raining. But this was indeed a good location for the photo.

It is a filming location in the movie. Walking on this road while enjoying the beautiful scenery and imagining the scenes in the movie is really a spiritual enjoyment.

An iconic building in old Shanghai, located on the Suzhou River, it is an all-steel building.

By Bai Xubo |

This European and American style originated a century ago, reflecting the then-thriving steel industry in the West. Strangely, this design wasn't widely replicated in post-liberation China. Perhaps by the time my country's own steel industry had grown sufficiently robust, this type of bridge had become somewhat outdated. It appears in various television and film depictions of modern Shanghai, with the most notable being Zhao Wei's character Ru Ping's leap from the bridge in "Romance in the Rain." Actually, that bridge is a replica from a film studio, but it demonstrates just how unique it truly is.

By Watching the clouds roll and unfold |

The world-renowned Waibaidu Bridge is a landmark of old Shanghai, a designated Shanghai Outstanding Modern Architecture Protection Unit, and the largest steel bridge in downtown Shanghai. A steel-frame, through-bridge bridge with two spans, it is 106.7 meters long, with an 11.2-meter-wide carriageway and 3.6-meter-wide sidewalks on each side. After several renovations, it now has a load capacity of 20 tons.

The night view of Waibaidu Bridge is also not to be missed.

Waibaidu Bridge, China's first all-steel riveted bridge and the only remaining unequal-height truss bridge, has become a Shanghai landmark thanks to its rich history and unique design.
