The Yellow River Hukou Waterfall National Geopark is centered on the Hukou Waterfall and is built along the east and west banks of the Yellow River. The scenery varies throughout the year.
There are two waterfalls on the Shanxi side and the Shaanxi side. The Shaanxi side offers a direct view of the entire waterfall. The scenic area has a live performance of the Yellow River Cantata, with two free performances at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. every day. The ancient ferry town of Hukou Waterfall in Shaanxi is the birthplace of the Yellow River Cantata. The second waterfall of Hukou Waterfall in Shaanxi is the location of the back of the 1990 version of the 50-yuan RMB. You can only see it from the side in Shanxi. There is a low-altitude flight in the Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area in Shaanxi, overlooking the Yellow River from a God's perspective. The air ticket is about 399 yuan per person.
From April to May, peach blossoms are in full bloom beside the waterfall, which is called "March Peach Blossom Flood". From September to November, rainbows often appear, which is called "Hukou Autumn Wind".
In spring and autumn, the water volume is high and the sound of water splashing is like thunder, more shocking than usual.
There are eight wonders accompanying the waterfall: smoke coming out of the water, boats sailing on dry land, neon lights playing in the water, mountains flying and the sea standing, rain in the clear sky, thunder in a dry day, ice peaks hanging upside down, and a ten-mile dragon trough.

Hukou Waterfall is located at the junction of Ji County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province and Yichuan County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province. It is the only golden waterfall on the Yellow River and the second largest waterfall in China.
Hukou Waterfall is formed because the Yellow River suddenly contracts in the Shanxi-Shaanxi Grand Canyon, from a riverbed hundreds of meters wide to a width of only tens of meters, so the water flow accelerates rapidly and forms a waterfall. The Yellow River upstream of the waterfall is about 300 meters wide, and is compressed to a width of 20-30 meters in less than 500 meters. The huge water flow pours down from the steep cliff more than 20 meters high, forming a spectacular scene of "the thousand-mile Yellow River is collected in a pot".
Hukou Waterfall is not only famous for its unique natural landscape, but also carries profound historical and cultural significance. It is a symbol of the Chinese national spirit, representing the spirit of perseverance and courage.
After we exited the highway exit of the viaduct, we descended more than 100 meters to the Yellow River. We parked the car at the entrance parking lot and walked into the scenic area.
The Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River has two different scenic spots, one in Shaanxi and the other in Shanxi. This time we are traveling in Shanxi and Henan, so we will not cross the Yellow River to Shaanxi. In fact, I have vaguely heard that the Hukou Waterfall is more spectacular from the Shanxi side.
Walking across the small bridge over the river, I saw the mother river with muddy yellow water. It was the first time for me to see the world-famous Yellow River, which the Chinese have a special affection for. Hearing the roar coming from afar, I was really excited.
The Yellow River upstream of the waterfall is 300 meters wide, but within a distance of less than 500 meters, it is compressed to a width of 20-30 meters. 1,000 cubic meters of river water per second pours down from a steep cliff more than 20 meters high, creating a magnificent scene of "the Yellow River is collected in a pot after a thousand miles".
The special geological environment has created the surging Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River, which is very spectacular! Seeing is believing. No matter how far the journey is, you should go and see it with your own eyes.
Hukou Waterfall is located in the canyon between Shaanxi Province and Shanxi Province. The Yellow River water converges rapidly here and then falls into a high and deep pool.
The water flow is huge, and the sound of the water falling is like the sound of thousands of drums.
The falling water created high splashes and thick smoke-like fog rose from the bottom of the water.
The water of the Yellow River really fell from the sky. The Yellow River was really roaring!
You can see the waterfall directly from the Shanxi side, while the Shaanxi side seems to be more suitable for accommodation by the river. The two sides are very close and you can reach them by crossing a small bridge. There are many donkeys in the scenic area for people to take pictures, and they also provide Shaanxi-style costumes, which you can experience.
Hukou Waterfall can be visited in the scenic area of Ji County, Shanxi Province, or in the scenic area of Yichuan County, Shaanxi Province. It is recommended to visit it in Shanxi because you can see the entire waterfall from a very close distance.
The Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area consists of two scenic spots: the Yellow River Hukou Waterfall in Hukou Town, Ji County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province, and the Yellow River Hukou Waterfall in Hukou Township, Yichuan County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province. Each of them charges its own ticket, and the ticket prices are: 85 yuan and 82 yuan for Ctrip booking. In comparison, there are more tourists on the Shanxi side, and food and accommodation are convenient, while there are fewer tourists on the Shaanxi side, and there are only two or three hotels for food and accommodation. In short, the two scenic spots have their own characteristics. For a detailed tour guide, please see my travel notes, Xinxiang → Guoliang Cave → Xiyagou → Yellow River Hukou Waterfall (Shanxi-Shaanxi) → Yan'an → Ganquan Yucha Grand Canyon ⇋ Yongning Mountain Ancient Village → Xi'an → Huashan → Luoyang ⇋ Laojun Mountain.
The Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area of the Yellow River, Hukou Waterfall, known as the "Wonder of the Yellow River", is the only yellow waterfall on the Yellow River and the second largest waterfall in China.
The local people are probably blessed by God. The ticket prices are quite high, and there are many tourists, so there are long queues for the scenic area buses.
It was the rainy season when we went there, and the Dragon Cave was closed.
Before I went there, I heard that the scenic area was not well managed and that tourists were overcharged. But after I went there, I didn't feel that much. I guess it was all included in the ticket price.
The view from the Shanxi side was spectacular. Because of the inconvenient transportation, I signed up for a one-day tour. The view from the Shanxi side was more spectacular, and you can play in the water on the Shaanxi side. The wind was strong, super strong, and the mist mixed with fine sand hit my face. That night, some small pimples appeared on my forehead, which were itchy.
Hukou Waterfall is very spectacular due to its reputation. Although it was not the flood season when we went there, its strength cannot be underestimated. I have to admire the power of nature. The service is quite satisfactory. This kind of scenic spot is generally similar, but it is worth going. It is recommended to repair the parking lot because there is too much dust when the wind blows.
I went there in winter. To enter the Hukou Waterfall from the scenic area, you need to take a bus 🚍, and then stop in front of a messy market. Everyone got off the bus to see the waterfall. The huge wind blew up the soil all over the sky. Many places were frozen in winter. The waterfall was really spectacular. Just like what is written in the poem, the water of the Yellow River comes from the sky, rushes to the sea and never comes back.
But other than that the experience can only be described as terrible... I also bought a tiger pillow in the market with its belly stuffed with dead leaves and rotten plastic bags.
The most prominent feeling is that there are too many people, but of course the scenery is amazing.
It's best to wear a raincoat because there's too much moisture there and it's easy to get your clothes dirty.
The stunning Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River, Ji County, Shanxi...
Details of Hukou Temple in Shanxi. I feel that the location is better than that on the Shaanxi side. There is also a dragon cave where you can look up at the waterfall.
Very good, feel the magnificence of the mother river and the beauty of the Yellow River. It is recommended to bring an umbrella or raincoat.
The Yellow River is the mother river of the Chinese nation. The Hukou Waterfall is magnificent and worth seeing.
Even the spring with less water is spectacular, the scenic area service is average
Magnificent and magnificent, I feel the greatness of nature and admire Ke Shouliang's courage
Shanxi is spectacular, Shaanxi is long and beautiful
The supporting facilities around Hukou are not improved. But the scenery is good. You won’t give up until you reach the Yellow River.
I didn't have high hopes at first, but after going there, I felt it was worth it. It's really magnificent and can't be described in words. It feels like humans are so small in front of nature.
It borders Hukou Town, Ji County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province to the east and Hukou Township, Yichuan County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province to the west. It is a tourist attraction shared by the two provinces. Hukou Waterfall is the second largest waterfall in China and the largest yellow waterfall in the world. In the summer when the water volume is high, Hukou Waterfall is magnificent; in winter, the entire water surface is frozen, forming a rare huge icefall. Hukou Waterfall is located in the southern section of the Qinjin Gorge, about 65 kilometers south of Longmen and 5 kilometers from Mengmen.
The show can be watched in about half an hour, and it is magnificent during the flood season. It is worth seeing.
I was lucky enough to see a rainbow on a sunny day, but I didn't choose the flood season, which is a bit of a pity.
The Yellow River Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area, Hukou Waterfall, known as the "Yellow River Wonder", is the only yellow waterfall on the Yellow River and the second largest waterfall in China. The scenic area centered on Hukou Waterfall integrates the Yellow River Canyon, the Loess Plateau, and the ancient plateau villages, showing the magnificent natural landscape and colorful historical and cultural accumulation of the Yellow River Basin. It was designated as a national key scenic spot in 1988, was rated as one of the "Top 40 Tourist Attractions in China" in 1991, and was promoted to a national geological park in 2016.
Although we went there during the dry season, it was still very impressive. I immediately considered going there again during the flood season.
Despite being in a remote area
But there are many tourists coming here every day
Have you not seen the water of the Yellow River coming from the sky?
Flowing to the sea and never returning
The magnificent Mother River
I bought a ND filter before I left.
But what is inevitable is that after long exposure, you will be covered in Yellow River water
The west side of the Yellow River Hukou Waterfall is Shaanxi, and the east side is Shanxi. The Shanxi side is more highly rated, so I chose to buy a ticket from the Shanxi side. The ticket was ¥100 and the sightseeing bus was ¥20. I took the 15:40 bus from Yan'an South Station to the Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area and stayed overnight. The next day at 7 o'clock, I entered the scenic area from the Shanxi side to see the Hukou Waterfall. I asked the locals and found out that there are three buses back to Yan'an. There is only one bus from Xi'an at about 1 pm. The bus to Jixian is around 9 am (¥10). There is no bus to Yichuan, so you need to charter a car for ¥150. The visiting time is about one and a half hours. Because I didn't want to go back to Yan'an and wanted to leave from Shanxi, I met the I took a black car (a white commercial vehicle, the master from Shanxi was named Feng), and he said he would share a ride back to Jixian for ¥30 but I had to wait for two guests from Henan. In fact, this was a trick of this master Feng. He deliberately took me to the Qilangwo Yellow River Bridge to see if he could share a ride with other guests and leave first. In fact, he wanted to avoid the only bus back to Jixian. When I found out, it was too late and the bus had left. I had to get off and go back to the bridge head to wait for other cars. This master Feng immediately asked a taxi that was carrying passengers back to Jixian and told me that it would only cost ¥40 to take me and leave immediately. In fact, he made ¥20 and the taxi master made ¥20. The ride back to Jixian is about 35 kilometers. Don't believe the lies of black cars when you go out.
I suggest you join a tour group. If you have enough time, you can choose a two-day tour and visit Yan'an. It is worth a visit. You can also buy some Luochuan apples when you come back.
I'm going to drive during the National Day holiday and have made many plans, hoping to go to Hukou.
I had already stayed in Linfen the night before going to Hukou. I was disappointed to hear that the Shanxi side was closed. Later, I searched the news and found that the Shaanxi side was still open, so I happily went there.
The drive from Linfen was 2 hours, the road was smooth, basically at cruise control, 80 on mountain roads and 120 on flat roads.
We queued at the door for half an hour. Fortunately, I asked my wife to queue up for tickets in advance, so the queues for the bus and tickets only took 30 minutes.
The parking lot is huge. If you park far away, it will take 5 minutes to walk to the ticket office.
Tickets need to be exchanged on site, and you cannot enter directly using a QR code or text message. In addition, you need to purchase a shuttle bus for 40 yuan per person.
If you are lucky, you can sit in the first row above the driver when taking the bus, which feels great.
The shuttle bus only takes about 10 minutes along the Yellow River. There is actually not much to see in this section. If you want to see it, you can go towards Hancheng, where there is a sightseeing route along the Yellow River.
When I arrived at Hukou Waterfall, I didn't feel it was particularly shocking. It might be because I had too high expectations due to many people's shocking descriptions, or maybe the high water level resulted in a small drop in height, or maybe the Shaanxi side was not as spectacular as the Shanxi side.
The waterfall is not a straight line, but a C or L shape. Therefore, from the Shaanxi side, you can face part of the waterfall directly and the other part from the side. I believe that from the Shanxi side, you can face the entire waterfall directly. Moreover, there seems to be a dragon cave on the Shanxi side from which you can look up at the waterfall.
However, due to the high water level, many observation platforms on the west side of the mountain have been submerged. In fact, part of the mountain on the Shaanxi side has also been submerged, but it has not affected the higher locations.
There were no shows on the big stage behind the waterfall, which was a pity.
The child felt that many donkeys there were being abused and being ridden to take photos to make money, and she was very unhappy.
Due to time constraints, we made an exception and had a meal in the scenic area. Not only did we have to shout when talking face to face (the hawking loudspeakers were super loud), but it was also the first time in my life that I had eaten unpalatable cold noodles, and it was my first meal after entering Shaanxi. I was speechless.
On the way back, there was a long bus queue, it was crowded and the scheduling was chaotic. Although we didn't say a word, many passengers on the bus kept complaining about the chaotic management.
In short, how should I put it, it’s a check-in spot. Anyway, I won’t consider going there in the future, but maybe I can consider going to the west side of the mountain.
We took advantage of the National Day holiday to see the waterfall, but when we arrived at the destination, we were told that the scenic area was closed. It was a disappointment, so we had no choice but to find a local villager to take us to the highest observation deck, where we could see the beautiful scenery of the Hukou Point of the Yellow River from afar.
It's a nice river, but these idiots have lost their mood just to see the waterfall. The document says that due to the approaching flood season and National Day, special traffic control is implemented, and the detour is to Qinglan Expressway. For safety, why don't you let cars pass but pedestrians? Is it safe for pedestrians to pass? The Qinglan Expressway is blocked like a blood vessel in a cerebral thrombosis, and you still let people pass? The document issued on the 27th said that the control will be from 1st to 7th, but you didn't control it yesterday? How can the Yellow River give birth to so many weird things?
Although we went there in October, which is the dry season of the Yellow River, the Yellow River is still roaring, and the Hukou Waterfall is full of momentum. The water column is not high, but the momentum is huge. It makes people reluctant to leave for a long time.
1. From September 17 to the Yan'an side of Hukou Waterfall, the scenic area will close at 7 pm. The ticket office will remind you on September 1 that the sightseeing area will be smaller due to the coming flood season.
2. The west side of Hukou Waterfall was announced to be temporarily closed on September 15, and the opening time is unknown. Few people can be seen on the other side of the river from the Shaanxi side.
3. The Shanxi side and the Shaanxi side are connected by a bridge near the scenic area. Tickets are purchased separately. The Shaanxi side ticket is 100 yuan per adult. There is a self-service ticket machine next to the ticket gate, which supports Alipay and WeChat. The sightseeing bus is 10 yuan per person round trip. If you have plenty of time, you can walk by yourself. The distance is not far.
4. It is recommended to wear shoes with non-slip soles. In addition to the well-maintained tourist trails, the closer you get to the Yellow River, the more stones and yellow mud there are.
5. Some friends mentioned in the reviews that there were mud spots in the fog, so they brought a raincoat and an umbrella with them, but they were not used. It is recommended to pay attention to the clothes of tourists before entering the scenic area, and wear them if there are mud spots.
6. It is very spectacular and worth seeing.
Although Hukou Waterfall is a natural scenic spot, it also has a touch of humanistic artistic conception. As the totem of the Chinese nation, it symbolizes the Chinese nation's endless vitality and endless life. It is definitely worth a visit.
The weather is magnificent and the force is overwhelming. We are lucky to encounter Hukou, the largest water volume.
I really recommend it. I just came here in early September, just in time for the autumn flood. The Yellow River was surging and the scene was very spectacular. Friends who have never been here will definitely be shocked by the surprise. The scenic spot on the Linfen side of Shanxi is facing the waterfall, and the viewing angle is the best. I recommend coming here. It is very close to Shaanxi on the opposite bank.
The rumbling sound made people excited, and the yellow mist flew in the wind. In an instant, yellow dots of different sizes appeared on people's bodies and faces.
Under the dazzling light of noon, the river water flows slowly on the barren land on both sides, rolling yellow sand, which feels very desolate. I bought a ticket, took a shuttle bus, passed through dozens of commodity stalls, and came to the shore of Hukou Waterfall. The rolling river water, the spraying water vapor, and the bursting water sounded like roaring, which was very shocking. This reminds me of the song of the Yellow River Cantata: The wind is roaring, the horses are neighing, and the Yellow River is roaring...
It had just rained heavily before we went there, so the water was turbulent and beautiful. Please remember to wear non-slip shoes, as slippers may get stuck in the mud and you can't get them out. There are mid-tube shoe covers for sale at the scenic spot. When you are close to the river, be careful to protect your camera and clothes, because the flying things are not water mist, but dust, the kind that can't be washed off.
The Hukou Waterfall is majestic and gives people a feeling of optimism and excitement. You must visit it on the way to Yan'an. This kind of scenery is unique in the country.
To use a line from a poem, “Like a mayfly in the universe, a grain of sand in the vast ocean”!
I don’t know if you had any impression of it before, but I had a good impression of it. However, I really didn’t expect that it was in Yan’an in northern Shaanxi. This may have surprised me.
The water flow this year was very strong, flooding the previous guardrails. The place got its name because many rivers converged here and shaped like a pot mouth. The water flow was really fast, and I felt seasick standing on the shore. The waterfall was divided into several vertical sections, although not very high, but it was already very spectacular, and the unique earthy smell of the Yellow River gave it a deterrent effect. After standing for a while, my body was covered with water droplets, which turned into yellow soil spots when they dried. The waves could turn white clothes into yellow clothes, which was amazing! After passing this terrain, the mother river became peaceful again, flowing slowly on the land of the motherland, unfathomable...
It took more than 5 hours to drive from Xi'an to Hukou Waterfall. When we arrived in mid-August, the flood season had passed, the riverbed was dry, and the waterfall was not as spectacular as it was during the flood season.
I have been to Hukou, Shaanxi Province in my early years. What I still can't forget is:
When gazing at the horizon from afar, I have a feeling that "the water of the Yellow River comes from the sky". Today I came to Hukou in Shanxi just to see what the difference is between the two Hukous. Unexpectedly, Hukou in Shanxi did not disappoint me. Due to the different angles of looking straight or looking up and down, I felt the same scenery but with different visual effects. The Yellow River is roaring, the Yellow River is roaring... Don’t you see, the water of the Yellow River comes from the sky... and it seems to pour down from the clouds, roaring in the waves, and its momentum is as magnificent as a rainbow. It is magnificent. It is precisely because of this magnificence that people have a tenacity that will never return and never give up.
xiongweizhuangguan
It drizzled intermittently when we went to Hukou, but the crowd watching the waterfall was still a bit crowded.
After buying the ticket and getting on the scenic area shuttle bus, it was only after driving for five or six minutes that we saw the mother river of China from afar.
Rain and fog shrouded the green mountains on the opposite bank. The broad Yellow River flowed eastward with the momentum of "rushing to the sea and never returning". A stone bridge on the river curved into the depths of the Yellow River. Hukou was at the end of the stone bridge. The closer you got, the more obvious the momentum of the Yellow River became. Gradually, when you reached the middle of the river, Hukou appeared, accompanied by the rumbling sound of water and the mist that hit you in the face, mixed with fine yellow sand.
There are really no more words to describe such a spectacular sight. Although the Hukou Waterfall captured by the photographer has an artistic beauty beyond reality, the real experience is more shocking. The 400-meter-wide Yellow River suddenly narrows to less than 40 meters at Hukou. The river water suddenly rushes down from a height of more than 20 meters with the momentum of Pangu creating the sky. Its sound is like a drum and its momentum is like thunder, showing a spirit that shakes the world. Water mist comes all over the sky, accompanied by wind and rain, and it is a vast expanse.
While watching, the whole family's clothes were already cold against their skin, but they could not hide the excitement on their faces. This kind of magic created by nature was enough to make us forget ourselves and immerse ourselves in it.
When I left, I saw waves of tourists appearing on the other side of Hukou. Later, I learned that the Yellow River is the boundary between Shaanxi and Shanxi, and the tourism resources of Hukou are shared by the two provinces. You can enter Shaanxi to visit Hukou, or you can go to Taiyuan, Shanxi. (Note: Xi'an to Hukou is 310 kilometers, and Taiyuan to Hukou is 376 kilometers.)
Hukou Waterfall is very majestic and spectacular. It is best to visit it during the flood season to appreciate its majesty.
Hukou Waterfall is located at the junction of Ji County, Shanxi and Yichuan, Shaanxi. You can see it from both sides, and the ticket price is the same, except that the transportation fee on the Ji County side is 20 yuan more. In terms of scenery, I personally feel that the Ji County side in Shanxi is better, as it is very close to the waterfall, and the waterfall mainly faces the Shanxi side, so the visual effect is better. We chose the Shanxi side to watch the waterfall and stayed near the Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area in Ji County. If you are looking for accommodation near the scenic area if it is not the peak season or the weekend, you don't need to book a room in advance, as there are many hotels nearby.
Hukou Waterfall, the second largest waterfall in China and the largest yellow waterfall in the world, is bordered by Hukou Town, Ji County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province to the east, and Hukou Township, Yichuan County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province to the west. It is shared by the two provinces and is a national scenic spot and a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
There is a dragon cave on the west side of the mountain. You can go down to the shore and see the waterfall. The ticket for Hukou Waterfall is 100 yuan, half price for students, and the ticket for Dragon Cave is 20 yuan, half price for students. (I remember that there seemed to be no tickets when I went there ten years ago) As for whether to go down to Dragon Cave, it depends on personal preference. I think it is still worth seeing. Even though I have been there once, I am still shocked by the roar coming from the sky. It is unimaginable unless you are there in person.
Only by being there in person can you fully appreciate the charm of Hukou Waterfall
We heard the sound of the waterfall before we saw it, and we were so happy. Hukou Waterfall, here we are. You are the largest waterfall on the Yellow River, the second largest waterfall in China, and the largest yellow waterfall in the world. After getting off the car, we hurried to the river, took off our shoes, stepped on the yellow water, and walked to Hukou where the water flowed the fastest. We felt the broad mind of the mother Yellow River up close, experienced the surging spirit of the Chinese nation, and appreciated the spectacular momentum of "Have you not seen the water of the Yellow River coming from the sky, rushing to the sea and never returning?"
There are two sides of Hukou Waterfall for viewing, and tickets are sold separately. There is no bridge in the middle to reach the other side.
The mother river Hukou Waterfall was very shocking. I heard its majestic roar and saw a beautiful rainbow.
The ticket is 100 yuan, and the round-trip bus is 20 yuan. It takes only a few minutes to get on the bus. When you get off, you will see the shopping street, but it is very short. After checking the ticket and entering the scenic area, you will first see the dry river and then the majestic waterfall. The white mist splashed in the sky with a loud roar, which is very spectacular. Only near Hukou Waterfall can you really feel that "the Yellow River is roaring" and "the Yellow River is roaring".
Important reminder, there is a bridge in front of the scenic area entrance, from which you can go to the Shaanxi side, the scenery on the Shaanxi side is much better, and you can also go down, closer to the water
Hukou Waterfall is quite spectacular, a waterfall that is so surging that it is smoking!
The Yellow River in winter is like an old man who has experienced many vicissitudes of life. He is silent and quiet, as if thinking and expecting something. From a distance, the frozen Yellow River is like a long and winding Great Wall on the water. The calm and silent majestic Yellow River is like a dormant dragon, waiting for the thunder of spring to wake up.
A rainbow appeared leisurely, causing waves of amazement! "Neon playing in the water" and "Colorful Bridge to the Sky" are the highlights of Hukou. With such abundant water, the splashing water mist refracts the sunlight to form a beautiful rainbow.
The Yellow River is so yellow, it's all mud. You can't wash it off after jumping into the Yellow River. It's all mud. I think Hukou in winter is better.
One of the landmarks of our motherland, one must see our magnificent mountains and rivers
It is indeed magnificent, turbulent, and magnificent, and worth seeing. The wind was so strong that the mist of the waterfall was blown hundreds of meters away, and the yellow sand was blown all over the sky, making it impossible to open your eyes.
Maybe I went there at the wrong time, the water was very clear! It is necessary to come again, the scenery in winter should be good too.
The Hukou Waterfall is as stunning as the Qiantang River's high tide. It seems that you will be swept into the river by the surging river water at any minute.
The Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River is a place worth visiting and experiencing. Here you can feel the shock of the Yellow River. The Yellow River is roaring, the Yellow River is roaring... The power of nature is unstoppable. It's just that there are many people in these places during the holidays. We drove and queued for more than two hours before we arrived at the scenic spot. It was already 5 pm, and there was only more than an hour left before closing time, so we could only walk around.
The Yellow River Hukou Waterfall National Geopark is built on the east and west banks of the Yellow River with Hukou Waterfall as its center. The Yellow River Hukou Waterfall National Geopark (Shanxi) consists of the Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area, Kenanpo Scenic Area, Zhongshi Scenic Area and Xiaochuanwo Scenic Area. It is characterized by river landforms and integrates cultural relics. It is a comprehensive geological park with extremely high popular science, tourism, appreciation value and cultural heritage.
Because it is too far, local friends suggested to join a tour group. Hukou Waterfall is in Yan'an City. Take a taxi from the hotel at 6:30 in the morning - 12 yuan. Meet at the bell tower and take a bus to Hukou Waterfall and then to the Mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor.
The group meal was extremely unpalatable. I strongly recommend not to spend the money. Don't listen to the tour guide saying that all the places to eat in Xi'an are closed at night! That's impossible! Bring your own food! The whole tour took about 3 hours in total, and the rest of the time was spent in the car. We returned to the Xi'an Bell Tower at 9:30 pm.
Group tour fee: 280 yuan.
I signed up for a one-day tour with two girls I met the day before. I woke up when the tour guide called me at around 6am. I spent almost the entire day on the road. The bus left at 6:40am and we didn't arrive at Hukou Waterfall until around 12pm. It only took an hour to visit Hukou Waterfall. You asked me if it was worth it. Actually, it was. Although it took a lot of time, it was really spectacular. However, if you can't take a ride, I strongly recommend that you don't go. It's really tiring.
Don't get too close or you'll turn into a clay figure.
Tips: No matter how anxious you are before going out, you must check the temperature. I was so anxious that I wore a short skirt! ! However, the lowest temperature was 9 degrees (just imagine me shivering in the cold wind. The temperature difference on the Loess Plateau is incredible. It is extremely hot at noon, but it is really cold in the morning and evening)
We left Xi'an at around 6 or 7 in the morning and arrived at noon. We sat on the bus for several hours and felt really desperate. But when we arrived and saw such a beautiful landscape, you will feel that everything is worth it! ! Eat dirt as much as you can when you get there! ! Post pictures directly to feel it yourself! ! You must go! ! I signed up for a one-day tour, but the time was tight. I recommend signing up for a two-day tour or self-driving to have more fun
You can see the majestic mother river - the Yellow River
This place is really worth a visit, just a stone's throw from the waterfall!
2018.2.8, the Yellow River was frozen, no water flowing, all ice
I didn't think it was that interesting, maybe it didn't suit my taste! And I signed up for a one-day tour, and the ride took almost two-thirds of the day!
Chinese people always have a special affection for the Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River. It takes almost 2 hours to drive from Pu County to the Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River. In order to make it convenient to see the Yellow River in the morning, we chose a hotel where we could sleep with the sound of the Yellow River-Hukou Inn. It is incomparable with the previous hotel, but it is expensive to see the Yellow River when you open the door. Following the positioning, we drove past the visitor center and then went forward for about 3.5 kilometers before arriving at the inn. The sister of the inn is very nice. When we asked if there was dinner here? She smiled and said, why didn't we finish dinner outside before coming in. We could only ask if there was instant noodles. We all thought that we would be severely knocked by the scenic inn, but the instant noodles in the barrel were only sold for 4 yuan. There is also a Huanglong Temple on the other side of the inn. It is much smaller than the temples we saw in the previous two days, but it happens to be along the Yellow River. It is indeed a place for rest.
People who stayed at Hukou Inn were trying to figure out how to get to Hukou Waterfall from dusk to the next morning. After all kinds of exploration, it turned out that the advantage here is that if you go down the road on the left side of the scenic area, you can walk to the road of the scenic area by a little step. If you stay at the inn at night, you don't have to take the shuttle bus of the scenic area, which can save 10-20 yuan. I thought there was no special railing at the entrance of the scenic area to prevent tourists from getting free tickets, but a smiling sister came to greet us and scanned the QR code after buying the ticket. The scenic area here opens at 7:30 in the morning.
If you ask if you can walk directly into the scenic area along the riverbed? Then it can be confirmed that Hukou Waterfall must be walked over a bridge. From 7:30 in the morning to the end of the night, the scenic area staff will pull up the iron gate on the bridge and lock it. The Yellow River is too wide to pass during the flood season. If you try to pass through the riverbed during the dry season, there are certain safety hazards. In order to save 100 yuan in tickets, if there is a safety problem, it is really not worth it. Drive 3.5 kilometers away from Hukou Waterfall, there are many restaurants not far from the tourist center. You can order a large carp from the Yellow River. My wife said that this is the most delicious dish in the past few days. You may wish to try it.
