Chonggu Temple, about 3,880 meters above sea level, is located at the foot of the Xiannairi Snow Peak. The time when the temple was built is unknown. The temple has been severely damaged, and only a few ruins remain. A two-story house was built next to the old temple. A lama was responsible for managing the check-in of past tourists (now due to the regulations of the scenic area, it is difficult to stay there) and protecting the surrounding ecological environment. The first floor is for guest rooms and lama rooms, and the second floor is a scripture hall. Visitors are not allowed to go up to the second floor. Every morning and afternoon, the lamas burn incense and chant scriptures. At this time, the chanting and the sound of Dharma echo in the silent valley, making this place more sacred and mysterious.

At 6:30, I took the first bus to Chonggu Temple in the scenic area (round-trip bus 🚌120 yuan, scenic area ticket 150 yuan, purchased at the tourist center where I took the bus).
By the time we got on the bus and set off, the sky was already bright, the altitude was constantly rising, and the mountains were filled with mist, like a fairyland 😍.
The bus passes through Yading Village and arrives at the Chonggu Temple terminal in 1 hour, and then walks for a while to reach Chonggu Temple.
Here you can first climb up to the Pearl Sea Platform and look up at the oppressive feeling of the Xiannairi Sacred Mountain from a close distance. You can also buy a ticket on the Chonggu Temple lawn and take a sightseeing minibus (80 yuan round trip), which will take you to Luolong Ranch (4150 meters above sea level) in 20 minutes.
The first scenic spot I saw in the Yading Scenic Area, the weather was so good that the main peak behind the temple could be seen with the naked eye. Because there are three peaks inside, I really can't answer this question because they all look too similar. Inside, after entering, you can see the first hall on the left and right, but you must wear slippers to enter, which I think is troublesome, so I really can't answer which living Buddha is enshrined inside. Going further in, you don't have to wear slippers, so you can visit casually. Some lamas are chanting scriptures. You can't take pictures in the hall. Behind the temple, there is a very low house. There are lamas living inside. They are still living there.
Chonggu Temple, located at the foot of the Xiannairi Snow Mountain, is 3,880 meters above sea level. It is the only way to the three main sacred mountains - Xiannairi, Yangmaiyong and Xianuoduoji. It is also the starting point for the local Tibetan people's mountain circumambulation ceremony.
Chonggu Temple means filling the lake to build a temple. Legend has it that the eminent monk Choje Gongjue Jiacuo built a temple here to promote Buddhism. He offended the gods by digging stones, so he begged the gods day and night to relieve the suffering of the people and punish himself. Finally, he moved the gods and brought peace to the people, but he died of leprosy.
The construction date of Chonggu Temple is unknown, but its location is the best in Yading Scenic Area. Standing in front of Chonggu Temple, with the exaggerated blue sky above your head and the green and yellow grass under your feet, the thousand-year-old snow-capped mountains in the distance and the canyon that has been sleeping for thousands of years behind you, Chonggu Temple is like the gate of heaven, outlining the illusion of the world of gods.
It is said that Mr. Locke once stayed in the temple for three days. Through the small window of the temple, he looked along the canyon and overlooked the quiet and peaceful Aden Village under the moon. It is imagined that this was probably the prototype of the Blue Moon Valley in Shangri-La described by Hilton.
The Tibetan language means a temple by the lake. Compared to the Chinese language we are familiar with, it seems that it is more willing to express it in the most primitive and simple way. It is just used in Tibetan and then transliterated back. It seems that everything is covered with a layer of mystery. Whenever Rachel enters a temple, she is in awe. Although she does not have any religious beliefs, she always respects their beliefs. Because of her beliefs, her heart is peaceful. Because of her inner peace, her eyes are pure. Rachel likes to see their pure eyes. Because it was late when we arrived, we happened to see a few lamas living in the temple washing dishes after dinner. After asking for permission to enter, we started our N+! Tibetan Buddhist tour. In most cases, Rachel only browsed the outside, but entered the temple cautiously. Even if she entered, she generally did not take pictures. This is probably a reverence for the gods.
You have to take off your shoes to enter the main hall. It is best to bring slippers or shoe covers when going to Tibetan temples. I think you won’t be asked to leave if you wear shoe covers.
In the main hall, the scenery of Aden seen through the glass windows feels beautiful and quiet, which may be related to the solemn and dignified environment of the temple with alternating light and dark.
I didn't go into this hall because I had to take off my shoes, which were very troublesome to put on and take off, and I'm also a bit of a germaphobe.
Chonggu Temple can be said to be a key to open the blue world of Aden. In this world surrounded by the Three Holy Mountains, you first see the beliefs here on the road led by Chonggu Temple, hear the legend of the gods' protection of this land, experience the awe of nature and the sacrifices advocated by Buddhism, and then go to climb and appreciate the natural scenery, you will understand the impact of mythology and nature worship on people.
Although Chonggu Temple is not big, the Tang Dynasty murals inside the temple are particularly beautiful. I don't often visit such religious attractions. Although I can't take photos, I still feel very shocked when I see the murals and Buddha statues in the temple.
Chonggu Temple means "the temple at the source of the lake". It is 3,900 meters above sea level and is located at the foot of the Xiannairi Snow Peak. It was first built in the Yuan Dynasty, nearly 800 years ago, and is a Yellow Sect temple. The main hall of the temple enshrines the founder of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism (i.e. the Yellow Sect): Master Tsongkhapa, as well as Sakyamuni Buddha, Guanyin Bodhisattva, Manjusri Bodhisattva, Vajrapani Bodhisattva, etc.
The beginning of the short-term route - Chonggu Meadow. It is recommended to go to Chonggu Temple from the stone steps on the right. Although it is a little tiring, you can see the whole picture of Chonggu Temple from here. When you walk into Chonggu Temple, you will find that the landform here is quite special. The temple is built on a protruding hill, and it is surrounded by low-lying grasslands. Chonggu means to fill the lake to build the temple, but when you are in it, you will sigh that this is obviously the creation of mountains and seas. More than 800 years ago, it was the time node when my country's climate changed from a cold period to a warm period in history. When the glacier moved back, the lake was born. Judging from the landform of Chonggu Temple, it should have been a temple on the lake in ancient times, especially the huge stone on the right side of the temple foundation. It can be said to be an excellent proof. There are many Mani piles made of motto stones around the temple. It is also very beautiful to look at Zhaguanbeng from here with Mani piles.
Chonggu Temple is 3,880 meters above sea level and is located at the foot of the Xiannairi Snow Peak. "Chonggu" means "filling the lake to build a temple", and it is also a temple on the lake. According to legend, Chonggu Temple was built here by the Fifth Lama, his disciple, Master Rangjiang Genchu Gyatso, to promote Buddhism.
I arrived at Chonggu Temple early in the morning. It was very quiet. The only sound in the temple was the practitioners chanting morning sutras. The temple is open to visitors at will.
Chonggu Temple (3880 meters) is located at the foot of Xiannairi Snow Peak. Chonggu Temple is affiliated to Gongga Langjiling Temple. There is a Zhaba from Gengo Living Buddha's sect chanting sutras and praising Buddha here. There is a clay statue of Sakyamuni in the small scripture hall.
The history of Chonggu Temple is unknown. It looks very dilapidated, but there are still Tibetans and monks chanting sutras devoutly inside.
Chonggu Temple is extremely mysterious, surrounded by snow-capped peaks, forests and streams.
Chonggu Temple is on the way to Xiannairi, and its golden top is very dazzling.
On the way to Pearl Sea, just go in and take a look!
The best time to take photos of Chonggu Temple is in the afternoon, when the sun shines directly on the temple, making it sparkle.
Our lingfang sister discussed Tibetan Buddhist scriptures with the master for more than an hour. I almost thought she was going to become a monk here, haha.
After getting off the bus at Zhaguanbeng, we started to hike. We walked uphill for about 500 meters and we could see Chonggu Temple. This is an ancient temple that was built a long time ago. You need to take off your shoes, hat and sunglasses to enter the main hall. There is a clay statue of Sakyamuni at the entrance of the main hall. The whole temple is in full Tibetan Buddhist style.
The golden roof of the temple, the red eaves and the white walls look beautiful together.
There were a few lamas sitting casually in the corner of the courtyard, selling some small Buddhist items. It was unacceptable for monks to stop chanting and preaching and start doing business, just like teachers stop teaching and pastors change their careers to selling goods.
It feels average. Due to time constraints, I didn't go in to take a closer look, so I just walked around outside.
Chonggu Temple is located near Zhaguanbeng, the tourist bus terminal of Yading Scenic Area, about 300 meters away. It is the starting point of both the short-distance tour plank road and the long-distance battery car (of course, you can also take the battery car instead and walk 9 kilometers to Luorong Cattle Farm)
Chonggu Temple means the temple on the lake. Chonggu Temple is a Tibetan Buddhist temple, and its architectural layout is completely different from that of Han Buddhist temples. The side door faces south, and the main door faces west, corresponding to the direction of the Xiannairi Mountain.
We took a battery car to the Chonggu Temple site for a short tour. The scenery here is extremely beautiful, even at this time of year. When we went down the mountain, we paid homage to the Chonggu Temple, one of the few holy places of the Yellow Sect. In the huge temple, except for the lamas who were doing their homework, I was the only tourist. I took off my shoes, sat cross-legged, watched them beat the drums and crosses, listened to them chanting, we looked at each other, speechless, and the sky slowly darkened.
Chonggu Temple is a very secluded and pure Tibetan Buddhist temple. Against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains and alpine meadows, it looks even more radiant and spiritual.
The scenery is so beautiful! The sacred mountain, the tall snow-capped mountains, the autumn colors of the alpine meadows, the green mountain streams, and the red autumn leaves, beautiful! So beautiful!
The grassland plank road near Chonggu Temple is quiet and sparsely populated, with wild pheasants jumping around on the branches. It is a paradise for people who like quietness. Walking slowly on the plank road and enjoying the beautiful scenery in the morning after the rain is very pleasant.
However, climbing up from the less-traveled plank road on the left is also very tiring. The entire route is an iron chain staircase along the mountain stream, with dense woods on both sides. It is difficult to see other scenery, and you can only move forward slowly and continuously.
Chonggu Temple has red edges, golden tiles and white walls, which is very sacred. You need to take off your shoes and hats to worship. We did not go in. Except for the worship hall, the temple is a bit run-down...
The temple is small, but because it is a must-see place to see the Three Sacred Mountains, it is very famous among tourists.
Chonggu Temple (3880m) is located at the foot of the Xiannairi Snow Peak. The temple is severely damaged, with only ruins and broken walls. It is impossible to determine when the temple was built. Chonggu Temple is affiliated to Gongga Langjiling Temple. A Zhaba from the Gengo Living Buddha sect chanted sutras and sang Buddhist scriptures here. There is a clay statue of Sakyamuni in the small scripture hall. Legend has it that the monk Choje Gongjue Jiacuo built a temple here to worship the sacred mountain for life and spread Buddhism. He angered the gods by digging stones, and disasters befell the people around him, and leprosy became prevalent.
The rising sun shines golden, and the leaves on the hillside gradually change into different colors in early autumn. The biting cold wind and slight altitude sickness seem insignificant in such a beautiful scenery.
The golden Chonggu Temple is backed by the sacred Xiannairi Mountain, sitting firmly in the mountains and forests, shaded by green trees, and looks mysterious. The time when the temple was built is now unknown, and perhaps there are many unknown secrets.
Chonggu Temple can be seen from afar. It is located at an altitude of (3,880 meters) at the foot of the Xiannairi Snow Peak and occupies the best geographical location in the Aden Nature Reserve. Standing in front of the Chonggu Temple, the sky is almost exaggeratedly blue above your head, and there are green and yellow grasslands under your feet. In the distance are thousand-year-old snow-capped mountains, and behind you is a canyon that has been sleeping for thousands of years. Chonggu Temple is like the gate to heaven, and it feels very close to the world of God.
Chonggu Temple has different charms from different angles. You can just walk along the plank road and take photos.
Climb up to the viewing platform opposite Chonggu Temple and look at Chonggu Temple from afar.
He just lay quietly at the foot of the Xiannairi Sacred Mountain.
If the weather is good, I recommend you to take photos at the viewing platform opposite Chonggu Temple.
Look at the snow-capped mountains and temples from afar and feel the shock brought by this sacred majesty.
The yellow Tibetan-style building looks particularly beautiful among the green mountains. This is Chonggu Temple, which is particularly eye-catching and beautiful among the mountains.
The temple is not big, but very solemn. You need to take off your hat and slippers when entering. The main hall is about 300 square meters, with a very gorgeous decoration. It enshrines the Buddha and several Bodhisattvas, all of whom are dazzling golden bodies. There is no square or supporting buildings outside the temple, which looks quite simple. Perhaps the Tibetans believe in the Buddha only and don't care about other things.
You may encounter squirrels at any time on the route to Chonggu Temple (you will encounter deer on the way to the Milk Sea), but they are afraid of people, so you can't take pictures. There is a Buddha's fate platform on the uphill. Pick up three small white stones on the road and throw them up. If they don't fall, it means you have a connection with Buddha. You can't take pictures inside Chonggu Temple. You have to take off your shoes and hats. If you want to go, you must be prepared. By the way, the weather on the plateau is unpredictable. If you don't wear a raincoat, you must bring an umbrella. Then go down the Chonggu meadow from the right and reach the big lawn, which is the place where "Passing by My World" proposed. You can't go down the grass, you can only watch from above.
Chonggu Temple (3880 meters) is located at the foot of Xiannairi Snow Peak. It is unknown when the temple was built. Every morning and afternoon, the lamas burn incense and chant sutras. At this time, the chanting and the sound of the drum echo in the silent valley, making it even more mysterious and sacred!
There is a path around the temple, with blue wild flowers blooming on both sides of the road. What surprised me was that on the Nima pile opposite the temple gate there was a vine that looked very much like the Albizia Julibrissin. The pink fluffy little flowers hung on the stone slab with Tibetan writing on it, and the green vines proudly pointed to the sky.
Chonggu Temple was the base camp of the explorer Locke who came to investigate in 1928. The Chonggu meadow next to the ancient temple is where Mao Shiba proposed to Lizhi in "Passing by Your World". The promise Mao Shiba made while guarding the thousand-year-old sacred mountain echoed in the valley for a long time...
Without the favor of sunlight, the temple buildings are not as dazzling as they are under the sun, but they have a unique solemnity.
Chonggu Temple is not big, and the whole place looks a bit shabby. Photography and video recording are not allowed in some places, and there are some hateful Tibetans inside.
Chonggu Temple is located at an altitude of 3,880 meters. Opposite it are three sacred mountains that have not changed for thousands of years. Behind it is the steep and precipitous Aden Canyon, and at its feet is the Chonggu meadow full of wild flowers.
The golden roof reflects the snow-capped mountains, and the Buddhist chanting floats across the valley, solemn and mysterious. There are thousands of white Mani piles in front of the temple, and we also built one to leave our hopes and blessings.
Chonggu Temple is the dojo of the Gelugpa master. It means "a temple built at the source of a lake". It is 3,900 meters above sea level and belongs to the Yellow Sect. It is said that Chonggu Temple was built by Master Genqiu Gyatso to promote Buddhism. It was also the place where Locke stayed when he investigated in Aden. The statue of Master Tsongkhapa is solemn and kind... Sitting here quietly, it seems to feel the distant chanting... quiet and melodious...
Standing in front of Chonggu Temple, with the blue sky above your head, green land under your feet, the canyon leaning against you, and the sacred mountain in the distance, this place is like the gate to heaven, and you feel very close to the world of God.
The magnificent roof of Chonggu Temple is set against the blue sky and green trees.
The golden color of Chonggu Temple is particularly dazzling, under the snow-capped mountains and in the green bushes. Looking at Chonggu Temple from a distance, there is always a sense of awe, and the holy spirit is inviolable. From Chonggu Meadow, walk about 2 kilometers along the metal plank road on the right, and you can reach the Pearl Sea at an altitude of 3,900 meters. There is a gurgling stream under the plank road, lush greenery on both sides, ancient trees bend down to welcome guests, and the breeze blows gently...
It is affiliated to the Daocheng Yading Scenic Area and is the only temple in the scenic area. Although the incense here is not very strong, it is precisely because it is too quiet that people can truly feel the communication of the soul. When you walk into Chonggu Temple, it is easy to let go and let go of some answers that big cities cannot give.
The golden roof of Chonggu Temple and the white ice cap on the mountain complement each other, which is probably the most beautiful temple I have ever seen. Standing here and looking around the sacred mountain, you can feel the shock and sigh in the hearts of the first monks who arrived here at that time. Since then, Daocheng and religion have been bound together like fate. Nature has endowed religion with inexhaustible imagination, and religion has fed back sacred meanings to nature.
It takes about 40 minutes to take the scenic area sightseeing bus from the scenic area gate to Chonggu Temple.
From here you can branch off to go to Pearl Lake or Luolong Ranch.
Chonggu Temple is located at the foot of Xiannairi Snow Peak.
You can learn about the local customs and the meaning of the sacred mountain.
Chonggu Temple occupies the best geographical location in the Yading Nature Reserve. Standing in front of the Chonggu Temple, with the blue sky above your head and the red grass under your feet, the thousand-year-old snow-capped mountains in the distance and the canyon that has been sleeping for thousands of years behind you, the Chonggu Temple is like the gate to heaven, making you feel that you are infinitely close to the world of God. It is said that the scenery at sunset is quite spectacular and breathtaking.
Chonggu Temple is not big, with only one small courtyard and three halls, but the golden roof of the main hall and the snow-capped peaks complement each other and form a brilliant scene among the green trees. The temple is solemn and simple, quiet and solemn.
Chonggu Temple is the first attraction after entering the Yading Scenic Area. If you want to visit the temple, you need to walk a little further. We didn't go there. We just took a few photos on the opposite side and continued to climb up. On the plateau, you have to breathe hard when walking on flat roads, and most of the roads in the Yading Scenic Area are mountain roads. The climbing speed is very slow. I have never felt so tired climbing a mountain. So if you can walk less, walk less (this is why we didn't go to Chonggu Temple~)
At Chonggu Temple, you can see the three sacred mountains, Xiannairi, Yangmaiyong and Xianuoduoji. The local Tibetans all make wishes devoutly facing the snow-capped mountains.
It was very quiet inside, and there weren't many people. My boyfriend was very interested in the temple, and he walked into the main hall and took a look. He said he saw the living Buddha, but he was the only one inside, and the atmosphere was a bit scary. (I'm not sure if his understanding of the living Buddha is correct)
It takes about an hour to take a bus from Daocheng Yading to Chonggu Temple. You will stop at a viewing platform halfway to overlook the snow-capped mountains. You must bring sunglasses and sunscreen when you go to the plateau. My hands were several shades darker when I came back, and they were really dazzling.
I took these precautionary photos through the car window on the way back. Girls who go there should pay attention to altitude sickness.
The overall scenic area of Yadingchong Ancient Temple is super beautiful and worth appreciating and enjoying.
Behind Chonggu Temple, there is a snow-capped mountain looming in the clouds - Xiannairi.
Chonggu Temple is located at the foot of the Xiannairi Snow Peak. It is a must-go route for short- and long-distance hiking in Aden and a tourist distribution center. We went there during the off-peak season, but the temple was full of tourists squatting, sitting, and standing. The toilets in the temple are divided into those for monks and tourists.
Standing in front of Chonggu Temple, you can see thousand-year-old snow-capped mountains in the distance, a canyon that has been sleeping for thousands of years behind you, and the Chonggu meadow full of autumn colors.
The Tibetan cottage next to Chonggu Temple is brightly colored against the blue sky.
Chonggu Temple, 3,880 meters above sea level, is located at the foot of Xiannairi Snow Peak. We climbed up the mountain path beside the temple to get a close look at Xiannairi and Pearl Sea.
Chonggu Temple (3880 meters) is located at the foot of the Xiannairi Snow Peak. Chonggu Temple is a must-go place to see the three sacred mountains - Xiannairi, Yangmaiyong and Xianuoduoji. Its scenery at sunset is quite spectacular and breathtaking. Its location is really unique. Chonggu Grassland is a must-go place to the foot of Xiannairi and to Shengshuimen and Luorong Niuchang. Now there are red leaves everywhere, which is the best place to take pictures of Xianuoduoji. The time is from afternoon to evening when the sun sets.
There is nothing special about Chonggu Temple itself, and it is impossible to investigate the time when the temple was built. The original temple was already in ruins, and what you see now is the new one built in recent years for tourism. However, the geographical location is important. It is located at the foot of the Xiannairi Snow Peak. It is a must-go place to see the three sacred mountains - Xiannairi, Yangmaiyong, and Xianuoduoji. It is also the starting point for the local Tibetan mountain circumambulation ceremony. Therefore, it is now equivalent to a transportation hub, nothing more.
Chonggu Temple (3880m) is located at the foot of Xiannairi Snow Peak. From Chonggu Temple you can see two of the Three Sacred Mountains.
On the hillside, I didn’t have enough time to go there, but it is said to be a good place to take pictures of the sunset at Mount Xiannairi.
After reaching the end, you need to walk a distance to Chonggu Temple. There are many uphill roads here, and it is quite tiring to walk. When you arrive at Chonggu Temple, the long line and the short line fork here.
For someone like me who doesn't understand Buddhism, just watching it can make you feel the piety of Tibetans.
Mao Shiba's Navigator "Lizhi, have you arrived in Daocheng again? This is Chonggu Temple, where I proposed to you. When we reach this destination, I will say to you: You are an angel because it is the bluest sky. You came into my world and replaced the four seasons with joy, anger, sorrow and happiness; smiling is day and crying is night. I like to be alone until you walk into my heart."
Located in the Yading Scenic Area, the temple is not big but very distinctive.
Located halfway up the mountain, the surrounding meadows are very beautiful. From a distance, they look magnificent and golden, dotted among the blue sky and green mountains.
Chonggu Temple is a temple in Daocheng Yading Scenic Area. It is located under the snow-capped mountains and is particularly beautiful.
Chonggu Temple is the intersection of the long and short lines. Go straight on the long line and turn right on the short line. I didn't go into the temple to visit because I don't believe in Buddhism. However, the temple is lit at night and can be seen from Aden Village.
I passed by it a week ago when I was taking a short walk. There were people living there, and there were quite a few halls.
The weather on the plateau is changeable. It started to rain as soon as we arrived at Chonggu Temple. The lamas in the temple were burning incense and chanting Buddha's name. The sounds of wind, rain, chanting, and drums overlapped, and the Buddhist teachings moistened our hearts.
Don't stand outside, go in and take a look. Maybe you will feel differently.
Chonggu Temple is a must-visit place for viewing the three sacred mountains. The scenery is charming and there is also a small grassland.
Chonggu Temple is 3,880 meters above sea level, located at the foot of the Xiannairi Snow Peak. This temple in the Yading Scenic Area has been renovated and is welcoming people to worship with a brand new look. Standing in front of Chonggu Temple, with the blue sky above your head and the red grass like blazing flames under your feet, the thousand-year-old snow-capped mountains in the distance, and the canyon that has been sleeping for thousands of years behind you, Chonggu Temple is like the gate of heaven, making you feel that you are infinitely close to the world of God.
On the right you can reach the Shangchong Ancient Temple, which is at the foot of the snow-capped mountains. It is very spectacular. Here one has to admire the site selection of Tibetan Buddhism for building temples. Many holy temples are at the foot of holy mountains.
Under the previous conditions, wisdom and perseverance were required.
The temple is very solemn. You have to take off your shoes to enter and you are not allowed to take pictures. Many Tibetans are superstitious and believe that if you take pictures, your soul will be taken away, not to mention that there are many large Buddha statues in the temple.
The side of Chonggu Temple leads to the mountain road to Zhuoma Lacuo (Pearl Sea). Go through the side door. Remember to go through the side door❗
We walked back to the meadow and then climbed up the mountain path to Zhuoma Lacuo again. When we saw the side door of Chonggu Temple, we were so confused that we wanted to cry.
