Daocheng White Pagoda

稻城白塔

This is the only park in southern Kangnan with a White Pagoda theme, and it is a sacred place held in the hearts of Tibetans, making it unique in the world. On the Litang to Daocheng highway, if you see this majestic and pristine White Pagoda, the long and bumpy journey will be over.
Its square base is divided into five tiers. At the center of the highest tier stands a tall white pagoda, surrounded by four tiers of smaller white pagodas. From top to bottom, each tier has 15, 23, 31, and 39 pagodas, for a total of 108 smaller pagodas. These smaller pagodas surround the larger pagoda, creating a spectacular sight. The pagoda's base is lined with rows of prayer wheels for devout Tibetans to worship. Construction reportedly began in 2009, when only the central white pagoda was built, with the 108 smaller pagodas surrounding it yet to be constructed.
Many Tibetans will circumambulate the White Pagoda in the morning. It is said that most people only need to circle it three times.

The Zunsheng Pagoda Forest, also known as the Daocheng White Pagoda, is located at the entrance to Daocheng County and is the only white pagoda-themed park in southern Kangnan. Its square base is divided into five tiers, with a tall white pagoda in the center of the highest tier surrounded by four tiers of smaller white pagodas, totaling 108. These smaller pagodas form a spectacular formation surrounding the large white pagoda.

The Daocheng White Pagoda is also known as the Zunsheng Pagoda Forest and the Victory Pagoda, and is called Langjie Qudeng in Tibetan. Legend has it that when Sakyamuni entered Nirvana, his followers prayed for the Buddha's Dharmakaya to remain. The Buddha instructed the construction of the Zunsheng Pagoda and personally blessed and consecrated it, symbolizing the Dharmakaya. It is the largest white pagoda in Ganzi Prefecture.

The Zunsheng Pagoda Forest, also known as the Daocheng White Pagoda, is located north of Daocheng City. When I visited, the sun was blazing, and the white pagoda forest shimmered with a majestic aura. Beneath the pagoda, groups of Tibetans were always circumambulating it. I'm not a religious person, so I just walked around it once as a sign of respect.

The scale is quite large, and there is no entrance fee, so it is worth a visit. You have to turn the tower in odd numbers, either one circle or three circles, remember!

The sky is not cooperating, it would be more beautiful under the blue sky and white clouds!

Winter is the off-season, there are few people and the weather is quite comfortable.

I don't have much sentimentality towards temples, so... I don't think it's very interesting...

When you see this white pagoda, you know you are not far from Daocheng County.

By Green Lotus Leaf Kong |

The White Pagoda itself is located in a small grassland. The grassland and mountains in the distance are matched with some buildings, which has a special Tibetan flavor. The White Pagoda is very beautiful under the blue sky.

If the weather is good, this place should be suitable for taking pictures of the sunset in the evening or the starry sky at night.

By Lango-Panda Holiday |

The White Pagoda can be seen shortly before entering Daocheng County. It is small but relatively new. To Tibetans, the pagoda is more for significance than for sightseeing.

It is said to be the landmark of Daocheng. It is very spectacular and can be seen from a long distance. The white tower, the blue sky, the brilliant Gesang flowers, and the rolling mountains make you want to sit here and enjoy the breeze and sun.

The white pagodas behind the gas station might seem like ordinary Buddhist structures, but they're actually quite something: the Daocheng White Pagodas, also known as the Zunsheng Pagoda Forest and the Victory Pagoda, are called Langjie Qudeng in Tibetan. If you see this majestic and clean white pagoda on the road from Litang to Daocheng, the long and bumpy ride will be over.

The White Pagoda has a purely square base and is divided into five floors. In the center of the highest floor is a tall white pagoda, surrounded by four floors of small white pagodas. The Daocheng White Pagoda is very magnificent. We arrived at 7 o'clock, and it was almost dark and the weather was gloomy, but standing next to it was really shocking...

In addition to the White Pagoda Park in Beijing, the White Pagoda in Daocheng is another white pagoda building that I will never forget.

The Daocheng White Pagoda under the afternoon sun is unforgettable, standing before us like a holy temple. The small white pagodas under the big white pagoda stand in an orderly manner below, like rows of neat palaces.

During my trip to Sichuan and Tibet, I was fascinated by the White Pagoda. Fortunately, there were blue skies and white clouds before I left!

Very beautiful! Definitely worth a visit. There's a sea of flowers nearby. You'll pass by on your way to or from Aden, so it's worth a visit! Be careful with altitude sickness.

Entering the White Pagoda from the provincial road, you can see the White Pagoda from afar, giving you a sense of tranquility and holiness! It is the place where Tibetans pray and worship. The Gesang flower fields in the White Pagoda Park are also very beautiful!

The Daocheng White Pagoda is the gateway to Daocheng and the largest white pagoda in Ganzi Prefecture. Also known as the Forest of Victory Pagodas and the Victory Pagoda, it's called Langjie Qudeng in Tibetan. Also known as the White Pagoda Temple, the Daocheng White Pagoda consists of a main pagoda and 108 smaller pagodas. The 108 smaller pagodas house Sakyamuni Buddha, while the main pagoda houses the Victory Goddess. The Victory Goddess, pronounced "Langjuema," is one of the three longevity deities, representing longevity.

It was sunset when we entered Daocheng County. We stopped for a few minutes at the Zunsheng Pagoda Forest at the top of the city. This beautiful forest of pagodas consists of 108 small white pagodas and a main pagoda. Tibetans come here every day to circumambulate and pray.

It was already dark when we arrived at the White Pagoda in Daocheng. In an instant, the White Pagoda was lit up by countless lights, looking brilliant and solemn, and turning a large area of the sky yellow.

By Cat Xiaoqi |

It seems to be the largest group of pagodas in Ganzi area. It is very spectacular.

By MosamBF |

Many Tibetans were circumambulating the pagoda devoutly. I walked clockwise like them, but they walked in the inner circle while I walked in the outer circle.

There is a road on the west side of the White Pagoda leading to the observation deck on the top of the mountain. The iron gate next to the wall was ajar. I gently pushed it open and climbed up the stairs.

There are two observation decks. The highest one overlooks most of Daocheng County.

The entire white pagoda is very interesting. There is a Buddha inside each small white pagoda. We walked around the white pagoda and then rushed to the hotel.

By Ripples |

Circumambulating the White Pagoda three times is a daily ritual for local Tibetans, morning, noon, and evening. The Daocheng White Pagoda is the largest in Ganzi Prefecture. We reverently circumambulated it as well. An elderly Tibetan man saw us and smiled, saying "Tashi Delek" with a sincere and warm voice. We returned the greeting with "Tashi Delek"!

At the head of Daocheng Bridge, the White Pagoda is divided into three parts: the spire, the tower body, and the base. The base is equipped with rows of prayer wheels, and a Bodhisattva is enshrined on the top. It is said that circumambulating the mountains, water, and the White Pagoda is a custom of the Tibetans (ps: both the prayer wheels and the White Pagoda need to be rotated clockwise).

This place is worth a visit, it is very spectacular, just on the edge of the county town, you will pass by here when you go to Daocheng Yading Scenic Area

I turned the prayer wheel three times clockwise at the White Pagoda. I had some slight altitude sickness, but I found that as I carefully circumambulated the pagoda, my heart became very peaceful. I also gradually understood the role of religion in people's hearts.

Before leaving, I followed the advice of a fellow beekeeper, but neither Amap nor Baidu Maps could locate the place. If I could find it, I'd search for it: Zunsheng Pagoda Forest. It's a landmark in Daocheng! Be warned, the only restrooms nearby are at gas stations, so there's a lot of human and animal feces outside the fence.

Daocheng White Pagoda is the only white pagoda theme park in southern Kangnan. It is open to the public free of charge all day. In Tibetan Buddhism, the White Pagoda is a symbol of virtue and blessing, and is a landmark building in Daocheng.

We arrived in Daocheng in the afternoon. As soon as we entered the city, the most eye-catching thing was the white pagoda group. This was the first time I saw such a large white pagoda. I thought it must be the tomb of a lama of high status.

There are prayer wheels around the white pagodas. Many believers circle the white pagodas and turn the prayer wheels over and over again. Many tourists also join them to feel and experience this piety.

The Tibetans circumambulated the prayer wheels reverently, and I followed them around three times. My friend started to feel altitude sickness, and she couldn't walk anymore. I dragged her along and walked three times. Now I feel a little scared, as you can't force yourself in the plateau.

White pagodas are a common religious structure in Tibetan Buddhism, first appearing on the snowy plateau and now found throughout the country. The White Pagoda in Daocheng is considered the gateway to Daocheng, situated at the city's entrance. The pagoda forest is vast, consisting of a main pagoda and 108 smaller pagodas, beautifully silhouetted against the blue sky of Daocheng. Passing Xinduqiao, the Zunsheng Pagoda Forest stands tall at the entrance of Daocheng, welcoming visitors from all directions. The pristine white pagoda, the azure blue sky, the brilliant geraniums, and the rolling hills.

Gesang flower is also known as Gesang Meiduo. In Tibetan, "Gesang" means "good times" or "happiness", and "Meiduo" means flower, so Gesang flower is also called the happy flower. It has long been the symbol of the Tibetan people's hope for happiness and auspiciousness.

As night fell, we eagerly checked out our last attraction, the Daocheng White Pagoda. I'd seen a photo of the White Pagoda with the Milky Way in the foreground, but online travel guides claim that the lights around the pagoda are constantly on, making it difficult to capture the starry night sky. Only when we got closer did we realize how massive and majestic the structure truly is. The dim glow of the lights illuminated the pagoda's sacred white and golden spire. The night couldn't conceal its radiance, a totem of faith that shone day and night, and devout residents lingered in prayer, unwilling to leave.

The Daocheng White Pagoda, located at the head of the Daocheng Bridge, is the largest white pagoda in Ganzi Prefecture. The main structure is a 37-meter-tall pagoda, with three tiers of thrones based on the base of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests at the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. These three tiers feature 512 brass prayer wheels and several stone reliefs. The White Pagoda is even more beautiful at night under the lights.

A river separates the Daocheng White Pagoda from the county seat, offering a panoramic view from atop the tower. Groups of Tibetans circle the pagoda, twisting their Buddhist beads and chanting incoherently. Some spin prayer wheels, others bow their heads against the wall, reverently worshipping the Buddha with awe and joy.
