Daocheng Yading - Chonggu Meadow

Chonggu Meadow is a natural bonsai of grasslands, forests, and streams. Originally a glacial lake, the area was formed when the glacial lake at the foot of Xiannairi burst its banks, displacing the lake and creating its current landscape. The most beautiful seasons are probably spring and summer, when flowers bloom in profusion. On clear days, visitors can catch a glimpse of Xiannairi and Xianuoduoji.

The place where the final proposal in the movie "Passing by Your World" took place was here, not Luolong Ranch.

The sharp snow-capped mountain you see in the distance from the plank road is Xianuoduoji, not Yangmaiyong.

The stream water is very clear. In the wide river channel, the river surface is calm and quiet, like a long and narrow jade mirror inlaid in this colorful land; in the narrow river channel and places with large ups and downs, the water flows very fast, rushing past and hitting the rugged rocks on the riverbed, stirring up the water like silver flowers splashing.

If there were no human traces, no man-made roads and buildings, this would be an isolated Shambhala, where all things in the world coexist and live in natural harmony.

The light is too strong, and the slightest change of camera angle will make the picture difficult to distinguish and may lead to overexposure. For the same reason, it is also difficult to distinguish on the screen. Moreover, there is not enough time to make each adjustment. If people with little photography experience come to such a beautiful scenery, they may not be able to take away satisfactory photos. However, the scenery is here. The scene that meets your eyes and is remembered in your mind is no different from that of others. The only difference is your attitude towards it.

After arriving at the bus terminal, we took the slope to Chonggu Meadow. Even after just 10 minutes, the journey felt a bit strenuous. My legs were sore, and I started to breathe a little. 4,000 meters above sea level is nothing to be trifled with. You can walk along the plank road, which is very comfortable and much better than the slope. At Chonggu Meadow, walk left to see the lawn, where the movie was filmed. The electric car to the long-distance line is also in that direction. Walk right to the foot of Xiannairi Mountain and see the Pearl Sea. We went right first, as we had to come back here anyway. It was so beautiful. If possible, I'd like to propose here. The scenery here is truly stunning, and any photo you take will turn out great. I prefer the layered beauty of autumn to the green of summer.

Is Daocheng Yading too beautiful in autumn?

Come in September, you must come. Even if you can't go up to the Milk Sea, it's still a good thing to see Xiannairi, Yangmaiyong and Xianuoduoji below!

I think Chonggu Grassland is the most beautiful place in Daocheng Yading. The meadow is very large and there are snow-capped mountains behind it. Although it was cloudy when I went there, it still looked very good and a bit shocking.

The Chonggu grassland in Xiannairixia is much smaller than the Luolong Cattle Farm, but the scenery is nice.

Without looking for it, I saw the filming location of the movie "Passing by Your World". Although it didn't have the blue sky and white clouds in the movie, it was still very beautiful, like a fairyland. This type of scenery can be seen in many areas of the Yading scenic area, so it is not necessary to find this place.

Chonggu Grassland is where Mao Shiba proposed in the movie "Passing by Your World". This is also the first amazing place.

We were waiting for the sunset on the Chonggu meadow. Although the sunshine was warm at noon, the biting cold still came as expected in the evening. Fortunately, after waiting so long, we finally saw the golden mountain in Xianuoduoji.

Chonggu Lawn is a natural bonsai landscape, composed primarily of grasslands, forests, streams, and mani piles. From here, you can catch a glimpse of Xiannairi and Xianuoduoji, truly appreciating the majesty, beauty, and wonder of nature. This is the mouth of a large glacial U-shaped valley, originally a glacial lake. After descending the mountain and resting for a long time, I discovered a beautiful spot on the flat ground called Chonggu Meadow. Snow-capped mountains, green trees, yellow grass, clear water, and swaying waterweed—it was simply beautiful. Any place without climbing a mountain was heaven to me at that moment. Chonggu Meadow is huge, the plank road is long, and the snow-capped mountains are visible in the distance. You can walk slowly and admire it. It's so beautiful, and you can capture the beauty at any time. There are also birds that are not afraid of people. I highly recommend it.

Chonggu Meadow is a popular spot for short-term travelers, as it's the filming location for the TV series "Passing By Your World," where the proposal took place. Next to Chonggu Temple is Chonggu Meadow, which has a plank path around it. It wasn't crowded when we went, so we occasionally managed to capture some stunning scenery that didn't seem like something you'd see during Golden Week.

The Chonggu Meadows in mid-September weren't exactly golden, just a hint of yellow. Before coming here, I had visions of the golden scene where Mao Shiba and Lizhi proposed to me. But after arriving, I was quite disappointed. I consoled myself by saying that the Chonggu Meadows were truly beautiful because of Mao Shiba and Lizhi.

The winding stream on the grass dam, the lush green grass and the colorful wild flowers form a wonderful oil painting.

At the end of the meadow lies a corner of Xiannairi. Its snow-white peak gleams in the sunlight. Deep within the flowing water, amidst the lush greenery, lies Chonggu Temple.

In October, the grass on Chonggu Meadow begins to turn yellow, and the trees on the mountain are colorful with red, green and yellow. Coupled with the blue sky and snow-white clouds, the scenery is breathtaking.

It is a must-go place to Chonggu Temple, Xiannairi, Shengshuimen, and Luorong Ranch. The electric car station to Luorong Ranch is nearby.

The melted snow from the holy mountain flows through the Chonggu meadow, and the green carpet-like lawn is dotted with wild flowers.

With limited vocabulary and a limited aesthetic sense, we can only describe it with words like "a lush green meadow, very beautiful." In reality, the blue sky, white clouds, snow-capped mountains, flowing water, the endless meadow, and the golden Chonggu Temple looming across the way—a beauty that defies words.

The scenery of Chonggu Meadow was average at that time. I believe that autumn will have a different flavor. In comparison, I prefer the snow-capped mountains in the evening.

Only by coming here in person can you feel the shock and the peace in your heart.

Chonggu Meadow is the U-valley mouth of the large U-shaped valley of the Yading glacier. It was originally a glacial lake. The glacial lake at the foot of Xiannairi burst its dam and washed away the lake here, forming the current landform.

There are battery sightseeing buses available from Chonggu Grassland to Luorong Cow Farm. The round trip fare is 80 yuan, which is not included in the entrance fee.

Serious hikers should start at Chonggu Meadow and follow the plank road to Luorong Ranch before continuing up. The entire distance from Chonggu Meadow to Luorong Ranch is 6.7 kilometers, taking about 3-4 hours on foot or 30 minutes by electric car.

Bird Brother suggested that, first, you should save your energy by climbing to the highest point; second, there are only two meadows with nice views on this hiking route, and there are no highlights along the way.

After all, we were there to see the scenery, and measuring the earth on foot was secondary. So we chose to take an electric car to Luolong Ranch and then start hiking.

Chonggu Meadow, meaning the meadow at the source of the lake, is known as a "natural bonsai". The meadow is full of flowers and surrounded by green mountains. It is beautiful. If it is paired with blue sky and white clouds, it will be even more beautiful. Walking along the wooden plank road around the meadow, I found a cute little squirrel. I had to offer my biscuits to it. It seemed to like it very much and let us watch it closely.

I've been there. The scenery is very nice and the natural scenery is worth a visit.

In fact, Chonggu Meadow is not very big. I don’t know if it’s because it’s autumn, but it feels a bit desolate. But looking at the reflection of Xianuoduoji Snow Mountain in the water, it is still very beautiful!

Unfortunately, I was unable to walk the entire Chonggu Grassland due to time constraints. Although I only walked a short distance, I was already intoxicated by its rich scenery and colorful colors.

There are snow-capped mountains, grasslands, forests, and rivers. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, where else in the world can you find such a place?

Because of the bad weather, I didn't think it was very beautiful. There was no snow in the Snow Mountain in September. It seems that it would be more stunning to go in April or May.

A beautiful plateau meadow with cattle and horses grazing leisurely in the middle and tall snow-capped mountains opposite. A small river flows through the meadow, reflecting the sunlight, and the scenery is very nice.

Start hiking from the bus drop-off point. Both the road and the plank road can lead to Chonggu Meadow. There are two routes in Chonggu Meadow, one is the long route to Five Color Lake and Milk Lake, and the other is the short route to Pearl Lake. We took the long route on the first day, which is the Five Color Lake and Milk Lake.

There is a Chonggu Temple Service Center in Chonggu Meadow. There are battery cars from here to Luorong Ranch. It is recommended that you buy a round-trip ticket. I wanted to see the scenery on the way from Luorong Ranch to Chonggu Meadow, so I bought a one-way ticket. However, after walking a long way, I found that it was really tiring to walk several kilometers from Luorong Ranch to Chonggu Meadow. The road was not easy to walk on and the scenery was nothing special. I took pictures along the way, so you can just take a look.

Chonggu Meadow is just at the foot of the mountain in Yading Scenic Area. It is passable in a short distance and the meadow is not big.

Descending the mountain, the monks at Chonggu Temple were already preparing dinner, smoke rising from their kitchen stoves. "Look!" A rainbow suddenly appeared on the Chonggu meadow after the rain, and everyone was thrilled. The lamas also hurriedly pulled out their phones to take pictures.

It was already afternoon when we arrived in Aden on our first day, so we decided to take a short walk. It started to drizzle as soon as we got off the bus. After reaching Chonggu Temple, we took a different route and skipped the Pearl Lake. We kept walking, the rain coming up and down. Maybe it was the wind and rain, but my head started to ache a bit, and it felt like there was no end in sight. After walking for over an hour, I finally saw hope and boarded the electric car for the return trip. When we reached the meadow, the sun came out. What a pleasant surprise! My headache was completely gone, and I started taking photos. Haha. While the grass wasn't as lush and green as it once was, I much preferred the pale yellow color; it felt more layered. The snow-capped mountains were faintly visible in the distance, and the blue sky, white clouds, and crystal-clear water were pure as could be. At that moment, I truly felt that this trip had been worthwhile. The headache didn't matter, and the exhaustion was worth it. I just wondered if this place would be even more beautiful in autumn! If I had the chance, I'd definitely come back again in autumn...

It is just down the road from Chonggu Temple, which is very beautiful and you won’t want to miss it. It is right next to the electric car. It may take two or three hours to walk around it, but it is definitely worth it.

If you have to go somewhere to be in a trance in your life, then the Yading Scenic Area is a must-go. The pure sky, the leisurely cattle and sheep, the clear streams and several towering snow-capped mountains... I went with a friend. We formed a group from Chengdu to Yading. The reason why Chonggu Grassland left a deep impression on me was because I took a very meaningful photo there. 😄

I personally think the most beautiful place is where Mao Shiba proposed to Lizhi, facing the Xianuoduoji Snow Mountain.

It's really heaven

It's right in front of Chonggu Temple, very vast. It seems to be where the movie was filmed, but it was in spring.

In the golden autumn of October, the Chonggu Meadows are already ablaze with golden color. Across the meadow, a clear, emerald green river stretches out, like a silk satin unfurled. Chonggu Meadows is practically the first attraction in Yading, instantly catching every visitor's eye.

Chonggu Meadow is located in the Yading Scenic Area, a little distance from the scenic area transfer drop-off point. You can walk there and slowly explore the beautiful scenery of the Yading Scenic Area along the walking trail. Chonggu Meadow has beautiful water and lush grass. From here you can overlook the Yangmaiyong, the vast sky, blue sky and white clouds, birds flying, fish swimming, and cattle and sheep running, which is so comfortable.

In Yading, Chonggu Meadow and Luolong Cattle Farm are both grasslands, but Chonggu Meadow is much smaller than Luolong Cattle Farm. The meadow is very close to Chonggu Temple. Since you have plenty of time when you go to Pearl Sea, you can consider visiting here again.

I love the meadows in Daocheng, Chonggu meadows, and unknown meadows the most!

When we arrived here, we forgot the discomfort of the high altitude and screamed with joy.

Chonggu Meadow, a winding clear stream, a yellow grassland, many dotted bright wild flowers, a layer of purple-red plants whose names cannot be told, a little higher, there is a layer of yellow bushes, green mountain plants, and snow-capped mountains in the distance. When we went there, it was the end of winter and the beginning of spring in Yading. The ancient meadows were not as colorful as in summer and autumn. However, it did not affect our excitement. If we can arrange to come here in the future, we will definitely visit in different seasons to experience the beauty of the meadows.

In front of the Chonggu Temple Service Station is the Chonggu Meadow, where you can overlook Xiannairi and Xianuoduoji. It is also the best place to view Xianuoduoji. A river meanders through the meadow. In the evening, the light is soft and you can take pictures of the reflection of Xianuoduoji. Of course, there are many people so you have to grab a good spot.

How can one word describe it? This is the fairyland in my heart, the fairyland in my dreams. It is both ethereal and real.
