Haizi Mountain is generally speaking a stone mountain and stone valley that have been repaired by an ancient glacier. Many passing cars sped away, but if you can pay attention and find a safe place to park, you can enjoy the view 👀. Moreover, unlike scenic spots, there are very few people.

When we drove to the Tuer Mountain Observation Deck (4696 meters above sea level), we were wondering why it was called the Rabbit Mountain? Where was the Rabbit? Later, we found out that the Tuer Mountain was not the mountain under our feet, but a mountain directly opposite the observation deck. From a distance, there were two protruding long strips of stone on the mountain, which looked like two long rabbit ears, which was quite vivid.

Going forward, you can see random rocks of all sizes scattered all over the mountain, with their edges and corners polished into round shapes. This is the famous ancient ice cap in Daocheng - Haizi Mountain, with an average altitude of 4,500 meters. The G227 Daocheng to Litang section is already spectacular enough. I only knew that the G227 Xining to Zhangye section had beautiful Qilian Mountain scenery before, but I didn’t know that the Haizi Mountain in this section also has such primitive and magnificent geological relics.

As the ancient Daocheng ice cap advanced and retreated year after year, it eroded the land into a sea of ​​boulders and glacial basins. Because of the large number of glacial basins, it was named "Haizi Mountain".

Leaving National Highway 318, turn south towards Daocheng. The road conditions along this route are much better than those on Highway 318.
