Heizhu Valley is one of the most complete and original ecological communities in China. It has ancient and colorful ethnic customs and integrates cultural landscape with natural landscape.
The ancient legends of the Yi people and their worship of this magical land, coupled with the several mysterious disappearances of people and animals in the gully, have given Heizhugou a sense of mystery and given rise to many puzzling mysteries.
The latitude of Heizhugou is similar to that of the sensational Bermuda Triangle and the magical Egyptian pyramids. Explorers call it the "latitude of death", so it is known as the treasure of "China's Bermuda".

Heizhu Valley, located in Leshan, Sichuan, is a national forest park. The scenic area covers over 500 square kilometers and boasts vast expanses of virgin forest. While the mountain seemed ordinary upon my arrival, the legends are terrifying. Its latitude is said to be similar to that of the Egyptian pyramids and the Bermuda Triangle, and it boasts stories of magnetic fields, poisonous fog, wild men, and carnivorous pandas. Indeed, disappearances and deaths are common within the area.
There were two mountain passes at the entrance, one open, the other adorned with a warning sign: "Danger! No Trespassing!" Curiosity led us to the more dangerous path, which was unmanned. After a 30-minute drive, the road narrowed and was surrounded by dense vegetation. It was eerily quiet, with no birdsong, though a faint mist could be seen in the distance. The local guide initially became frightened and insisted on turning back, so we had to find a slightly wider area to turn back down the mountain. We weren't explorers, just tourists. We finally decided to return to the open pass and ascend directly up the mountain. After about an hour of walking along the plank path, we were exhausted and decided to return home.
Overall, the scenery in Heizhu Valley was quite nice. I took photos of waterfalls, Yi-style houses nestled in the dense forest, the warm morning sun, and the colorful rock and mountain springs. It was beautiful. It wasn't autumn yet, but the red foliage and grass were stunning and beautiful. I was also amazed by the effort put in by the handsome men and beautiful women taking wedding photos. We didn't see the mystery of Heizhu Valley.
The mysterious Heizhu Valley, though its reputation as a land-based Bermuda evokes fear, is truly a pristine and unspoiled paradise, its mountains, rivers, and wild boars alike. Millennia-old trees have withered, their vibrant blooms have faded, and convenient man-made plank roads have reached the depths of the dense forest. Yet, the one constant remains the soul-purifying power of nature, enduring and unwavering.
The weather was bad during the two days I was here. It rained. Maybe it would be more beautiful if it was sunny. Rainy days with fog also have a different flavor.
Why do many people like to comment based on their feelings? The area you visited is just the tip of the iceberg of Heizhugou's development, the mountain area. The mystery of the entire Heizhugou is more than what you see. It's true that the road is not easy to walk on. But a new expressway is being built.
One point for the scenery, and let's talk about the points deducted. We set out from Leshan at 7:30 in the morning. The roads past Ebian were under construction everywhere, so we deducted one point. The new road in Heizhugou was blocked, so we took the old road, a single-lane gravel winding mountain road, which scratched the chassis of the car, so we deducted one point. We finally arrived at the scenic area at 12:30 in the afternoon. The only hotel in the scenic area was under renovation and did not accept overnight stays. We had to stay there for an hour in a hurry and return the same way, so we deducted another point. The ticket seller knew the situation in the scenic area but did not explain it. There was no warning in the county town at the foot of the mountain, so we deducted one point in the end. We returned to Leshan at 8 o'clock in the evening. To sum up the trip to Heizhugou, we drove on the winding mountain road for a whole day and only played for an hour. The chassis of the car was damaged and was still being repaired at the 4S shop. It was simply a real-life version of Lost on Journey.
The scenery of this place is amazing. There are two main attractions, one is Mali Lengjue and the other is Honeycomb Rock. Honeycomb Rock is similar to the scenery on the mountain road of Qingcheng Mountain, while Mali Lengjue is very distinctive, it is an alpine meadow (alpine grassland is not an exaggeration), which is very large and beautiful.
The only downside was the road. I went during National Day in 2017, and I had no idea how bad County Road X149 (from Yudai Bridge to Heizhugou Town) was. On the way back, a rock tore a hole in my car's transmission (manual transmission). I ended up paying for insurance to repair it, and it was taken to Leshan City two weeks later for repairs. Despite this, I still felt the trip was worthwhile and I had a great time. However, friends who are going there, until the road is repaired, make sure to drive a car with a high clearance. A sad lesson learned.
There's only one hotel in Heizhugou, the Midu Hotel. During the National Day holiday, they offered a price of NT$420, but later negotiated it down to NT$320. It was a standard room, which was fine. The shower was very good, large, and the temperature could be adjusted easily. For meals, there was a restaurant behind the hotel, which was reasonably priced.
If you don't want to stay at the Midu Hotel, you can stay in Heizhugou Town (the road from Heizhugou to Heizhugou Town is a newly built cement road, which is very easy to walk on). There are many hotels in the town, but of course the conditions are not as good as Midu.
My home is in a beautiful place in Heizhugou
Second time here, very good.
The air is fresh, and a trip to Heizhugou is a must. There are monkeys, horses, pigs, cows, sheep... all kinds of animals. I heard from locals that pandas have been there, but unfortunately I didn't see any. Most of the locals are Yi people, who are very welcoming. The road is also well-maintained and very easy to walk on.
In the past. I plan to come again in the future
I planned to go during the National Day holiday. Road construction started at the tunnel 5 kilometers out of Ebian Town. It was opened at 12 noon. I drove 7 kilometers in and it took nearly 30 minutes, so I turned back. If you have a low-lying car, you should make a separate plan. It's only open from 12 noon to 1 pm and after 6 pm. If you want to go, please plan your time accordingly.
Hello, nice to meet you. I want to go out and travel. I want to ask where is the most worthwhile place to go? Where is it safe? Two-day itinerary
In this place you can see forests, wetlands, grasslands, cattle, sheep and horses.
There are no bad roads from the county town to the scenic spot, and the scenery is also good.
Heizhugou is divided into two scenic spots, one is farther away from the parking lot and the other is only a 10-minute walk away.
The Heizhugou Forest Park is average, but the scenery of Mali Lengjue is very good.
The primeval forest felt good, but the grassland was not so good. It was better to prepare some food when you go in, as there was not much food for sale.
The scenery is so beautiful, different from the scenic spots I visited on the first edition. Heizhugou is not so commercialized, and the scenery along the way is the most primitive.
The locals in the scenic area are very simple and honest. They sell some roast potatoes and local spices (Litsea cubeba) very cheaply. I bought some and gave him money. He thought for a long time and didn't know how much he should give me. Finally, he asked me how much he should give me.
The area at 30 degrees north latitude is truly different. Don't be deceived by its beautiful appearance. The scenery is indeed beautiful, but beneath the beautiful surface lies the breath of death. I saw the skulls of cattle and sheep and the complete skeleton of a horse in the mountains.
This is the real primeval forest with thousand-year-old trees. It is not so developed now and there are relatively few people.
The only developed scenic spots are Fengpu Village and Mali Lengjiu, and the scenery is OK. Other undeveloped places are still very beautiful, so don't cross them randomly.
Although only two spots are open, it is enough to play. The things sold by the Yi people are relatively cheap. If they are expensive, you can bargain with them. They are all wild fruits from the mountains. They are really good.
Because Heizhu Valley holds so many unsolved mysteries, the local Yi and Han people call it the "Devil's Delta" of the southern forest region. From Camp 3 to the highway entrance, the entire hike is a ridgeline hike, with countless ups and downs, countless azaleas, countless bamboo groves, and only one water source. (Please bring plenty of water, or you'll end up like me...)
There are quite a lot of azaleas in the entire Heizhu Valley! It’s almost the most I’ve ever seen in a place! If you like azaleas, you can go and explore it, but don’t get lost!
It's just too far away, and it's a bit troublesome if there is no traffic. It's best to travel by car.
Especially with the freshness of nature, fresh air and charming scenery
The scenic area is full of overlapping mountains, winding paths and mist, giving people a mysterious feeling.
Heizhu Valley, known as China's Bermuda, attracts countless adventurers every year. For me, this scenic spot, just over an hour's drive from Ebian County, is a perfect place to refresh my lungs. Walking from the visitor reception center, the path is shaded by verdant trees. A drizzle, intermittent, shrouded the forest in a thin mist. Moss clung to the tree trunks, and a tangle of ferns and vines entwined the roots, creating a sense of mystery as if one were in some kind of magical forest. The negative oxygen ion content here is exceptionally high, and a deep breath can make one feel completely refreshed. Besides its beautiful scenery, Heizhu Valley is also renowned for its hot springs. These all-natural hot springs are hidden among the mountains, and even in the cold winter, you can enjoy a refreshing soak for just 190 yuan.
The scenery is beautiful, embrace nature, it is worth a visit
The road leading in is so bad, can it be repaired?
The scenery of Heizhugou is quite beautiful. There is no obvious modern artificial development in Heizhugou. The whole scenic area is relatively original. It is a very good scenic spot.
A deep ravine snaked between the peaks, its end in sight. The mountains were still shrouded in silence, only the mountain stream, noisy all night, continued to roar. The stream flowed rapidly, its flow heavy, and the rocks within were jagged. The water lapped against the huge stones, creating a rhythm that resembled the galloping of horses and the rumbling of mountain thunder.
Several cases of people and livestock mysteriously disappearing after entering the ravine have occurred, creating a sense of mystery. According to records, in 1997, two staff members from the Sichuan Provincial Forestry Department entered the canyon and never returned. In 2006, a survey team from the Southern Sichuan Forestry Bureau again explored Heizhu Valley. They released hunting dogs about two kilometers before the gate stone, but they didn't return for a long time. The guide, anxious, shouted into the sky, and suddenly thick fog rolled in. The team members, even though they were close together, couldn't see each other, so they had to call off the expedition.
In the gully, I heard from the locals that three hikers had disappeared while crossing the gully a few days ago, and they had been searching for them for days without success. Later, a news report from Dacheng.com popped up on QQ, also reporting on the disappearance of these three people in Heizhu Valley. It really is a mysterious place.
Before the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, a friend suggested we take a road trip to Heizhu Valley in Ebian. My friend grew up in Ebian and was familiar with the area, but I was completely unfamiliar with Heizhu Valley. Having lived in Sichuan for so many years, I'd heard of and visited many attractions, but never had I heard of Heizhu Valley. I quickly looked it up online, and wow! Heizhu Valley, nicknamed "China's Bermuda," is a mysterious place. Because of its remoteness and relatively underdeveloped tourism, many people haven't heard of it.
Thanks to media coverage, Heizhu Valley has become a familiar sight. Its novelty, uniqueness, and dangers have attracted numerous expeditions from photographers and scientists to explore and uncover its secrets. Because of its many unsolved mysteries, the local Yi and Han ethnic groups call Heizhu Valley the "Devil's Triangle" of the southern forest region and once called it the "Bermuda of China." It's also a largely undeveloped tourist destination, with rugged and treacherous roads and inadequate tourist facilities. However, such a seldom-visited place makes it all the more worthwhile to visit.
Seeing a group of pigs on a large meadow on the mountain of Heizhugou, we thought we should spend money to foster a few piglets here and transport them back to Chengdu when they grow up. This is a rare all-natural green ecological pork. For those of us who live in big cities and eat pork with various chemical additives and feed every day, we can't help drooling just thinking about it.
The ticket price is 50 yuan per person. The scenic area is a primeval forest. The currently developed part only accounts for 30% of the entire Heizhu Valley. After entering the scenic area, you must walk along the developed plank road. Do not take the risk to enter the undeveloped area. It is easy to get lost. The magnetic field in the hinterland of the scenic area is complex, which can cause the compass to deviate by 30 degrees. It is called China's "Bermuda". Last year, 5 young people went hiking, but only two came back alive, and the body of one of them has not been found yet. The scenic area is rich in vegetation, pollution-free, and has excellent air quality. There is a parking lot at the visitor center. There are hotels and farmhouses run by locals at the foot of the mountain.
Yes, the bamboo here is good. Heizhugou is a scenic spot featuring bamboo and ethnic minority customs.
In fact, there is nothing special about the Heizhugou Scenic Area. The scenery is similar to that of Yinchanggou, Jiulonggou, etc., but for the enthusiasm and sincerity of the people here, we should go and have a look and visit.
The scenery is average, the air is good, and there are many dove trees (Davidia involucrata). I think it will be more beautiful when it blooms. Of course, travel is not about the quality of the attractions, the key is the mood. When you are in a good mood, everything is beautiful. People are on a journey.
The road leading to the scenic area hasn't been renovated due to the development and is still the same dirt road (probably one of the reasons for the low number of tourists). The night before our visit, there was a heavy snowfall, and the road started to freeze over, becoming increasingly icy as we got closer to the scenic area. Those planning a self-driving tour this year might want to be careful.
The road into the ditch is really bad right now, and you might encounter snakes along the way. The driver will usually stop and let them pass. All in all, the journey in is quite arduous. The entrance fee to the scenic area is 25 yuan, which we paid. Ask for details once you get in. There are very few people there, almost none. The only people in the scenic area are forest workers and those working on the development. Pigs, cows, and sheep roam freely along the way.
I saw several panda droppings. If this was not a time travel but a wild survival trip, I would definitely stay and take pictures of the pandas. Speaking of panda droppings, I also thought of the fox footprints I saw around the camp this morning, which were very obvious in the snow.
The quiet villages and the simple Yi people. I will never forget the Yi children I met on the road, their sweet smiles towards you, and their sweet voices, constantly waving and calling out "Hello, brother...Hello, sister!"
Heizhu Valley is very famous and has many legends and is full of mystery. However, few people dare to go deep into it.
Heizhu Valley was an unexpected gain. I didn’t know this place before, but I saw it by chance on Baidu Travel. The name was attractive, and all the magical phenomena that happened in Heizhu Valley attracted me even more. I haven’t really camped there yet, and I didn’t dare to go alone, so I asked some good friends from high school and college to come with me, and we had a lot of fun together.
The beauty of Heizhugou, all of this is worth it,
We had to pay for a ticket when we got to the scenic area (I couldn't find any information online), and the entrance fee didn't seem formal, like they used a piece of wood to block the cars. It felt expensive to go in, but I also felt reluctant not to go in, so my eldest brother and I took a small path to go in while my third brother watched the cars. Inside, there was nothing there except a hotel and some artificial attractions under construction. Luckily, we didn't buy a ticket.
Absolutely pristine, absolutely pure scenery, incomparable beauty, the vast mountains, and the insignificance of human beings!
It is a picturesque and pure original scenery. Although the pixels of my mobile phone are limited, the taste of the photo still makes me linger on it!
The food there was very expensive, and maybe because we were really tired, we each had two bowls of hot noodle soup, haha!
After driving for several hours to reach the destination, we were very disappointed. It seems that people who like hiking may really explore its magic.
My initial impression of Heizhu Valley was a Yangcheng Evening News article titled "The Mysterious and Terrifying Heizhu Valley." Since then, numerous bizarre incidents have surfaced, and I seem to recall a later report claiming that local villagers fabricated these incidents to prevent outsiders from entering Heizhu Valley and protect this pristine forest.
It feels like a place close to nature, with a very high oxygen content. It's a good place for vacation.
This scenic spot is not well known to many people, and not many people go there. You can feel the original things there.
Mysterious, pristine, dangerous, quiet, and with few tourists, it is a rare place suitable for self-driving and hiking.
As an Ebian native, when I visited here ten years ago, the roads were terrible and development was limited. I stayed in a cabin in the woods, not the hotel it is today. The air was so fresh when I went up the mountain in July that I've remembered it all these years, and everyone I met praised the beauty of Heizhu Valley. Heizhu Valley's air was so good and pristine. Ten years later, when I returned, the roads had been repaired, the scenic area had been added, and the hotels were even better. The mysterious Heizhu Valley, like China's Bermuda, remains beautiful and worth a visit!
