Banghe Township and Sela Township are small villages on the banks of the Bang River south of Daocheng. There is no need to look for the locations of these two villages. Our goal is the flowing Bang River, the continuous mountains and the rows of poplar forests.
I wanted to see the sunset, so I set out a little after 5:00 AM, as the sun was setting at 7:00 PM. By the time I got to the poplar forest, it was still a little late. The sun was already blocked by a small hill, and the forest was already half dark. This was the busiest area, and the leaves weren't yet fully yellow. With the sun fading, I was in a hurry to leave.
One of the characteristics of Daocheng is that it is right on the roadside and it is free!
The scenery is still beautiful, although I went during the transition from spring to summer, which is not something to discuss. However, I wonder where the term "10,000 mu" comes from? Do you know how big an mu is? It's 666 square meters. Saihanba is 300,000 mu, but I personally only saw two large forests near Sela Township, and the rest were just a few sparse trees. Secondly, who introduced the poplar trees on the homepage? Have you seen any? The road signs say it's a birch forest, but I personally feel it looks more like a white poplar. What kind of tree is it? Please, great naturalists, tell me... I'm writing a travelogue of over 100,000 words and don't want to be misled when I look back at it in the future. There are more and more people who are good at taking photos, but there are fewer and fewer people who are truly knowledgeable...
Maybe because it is not autumn, I did not discover its beauty. It felt like a green forest.
Ten thousand mu of poplar forests contrast beautifully with the blue sky and white clouds. Suddenly, one feels as if one has fallen into a sea of colors.
The third day of our trip was spent returning to Sangdui Town from the Yading Scenic Area, so we could catch an early morning flight back to Chengdu on the fourth day. On the way back to Sangdui Town from Shangri-La, we passed several popular scenic spots, including the 10,000-acre poplar forest. In May, the poplar forest looked incredibly lush and green, and its clusters of trees on the plateau were particularly eye-catching.

The most surprising attraction of this trip to Daocheng... It satisfied my yearning for the golden autumn growing up in the south. It also made up for my small regret for Yading. 😂 I don't think I will go to Yading next time I come to Daocheng. I like the scenery of Daocheng County more than anywhere else. Seeing this golden autumn, I really want to ride a bicycle and stroll along the road with my favorite friends.
There are poplar forests all around Daocheng. You can see them when you ride a bicycle towards Yading. They are particularly beautiful in the morning or at 4 or 5 o'clock in the afternoon.
It was autumn when I first arrived in Daocheng, and I captured the fairy tale of the poplar forest in autumn. After staying there for half a month, I encountered the first snow of 2017 in Daocheng, and I also captured the fairy tale of winter. No matter what season, the poplar forest has its beauty and its story! It is really spectacular, very natural, and worth seeing.
There is a viewing platform on the roadside from Daocheng to Haizi Mountain. It is particularly beautiful in autumn when the poplar trees turn yellow.
Every autumn in October, the leaves of the vast poplar forests (tens of thousands of acres of artificially planted) on the edge of Daocheng turn golden yellow (for only a dozen days). The scenery is bright, charming and spectacular. It is a photographer's paradise at this time.

The 10,000 mu (approximately 1,000 mu) of riverbank poplar forest surrounding Daocheng County is the world's highest-altitude and largest artificial forest. On the way between Litang and Daocheng, I stumbled upon a golden poplar forest that will stay with me for a long time. The leaves of the towering poplars began to turn yellow, gradually transitioning from green at the treetops to yellow at the tops. That yellow is indescribable! The layers of forest were dyed in a dazzling array, each leaf captivating and captivating. I was completely captivated by it!
Beside the quiet river, in the golden poplar forest, on the red grass beach that you fall in love with at first sight... The poplar forest has only two colors: golden trees and azure sky. No matter what angle you look at, the viewfinder will always be a beautiful picture.

It's really big, and the scenery is great. Walking along the road and watching the scenery is the greatest enjoyment.
On the riverbanks surrounding Daocheng County, numerous artificial poplar groves are planted. Our tour guide told us they were called Qingyanglin (poplar forests), but I felt a bit strange about it; it shouldn't be called Populus euphratica. Whatever it's called, the row of poplars, whether a sea of golden or crisp green, is a captivating sight. It's mid-to-late October, and while some trees haven't yet fully reached their golden glory, others have already begun to shed their leaves. While the overall landscape isn't spectacular, it's still possible to find a dense grove and enjoy it.
Fourth stop: Poplar Forest
There are large areas of poplar forests around Daocheng. You can see them all the way from Kangding to Daocheng and from Daocheng to Yading.

Very wide, very vast. It should be more beautiful when it turns yellow.
This is what I saw while driving along the way. I went there during the National Day holiday. The poplar trees are slowly turning yellow.
The actual scale of the 10,000-acre poplar forest is not that large. I prefer the poplar forest in Inner Mongolia, but my colleagues all call it beautiful.

It is a scene worth reminiscing about, but also a color of decay; is beauty due to the lack of it a morbid pursuit? I prefer a scene of verdant green, which represents a vibrant life!
In the evening, it is absolutely enjoyable to walk beside the Yanglin and watch the sunset. Be sure to seize the light during that time to take pictures.

When we went there, the poplar trees were not yellow yet, so the scenery was average. But when I saw the works of photographers on the Internet, they were still beautiful.
Come to the poplar forest in Aden in late autumn, and you will be shocked by the scenery you have never seen before. Rows of golden poplars come into view, and a clear stream flows quietly beside them. Staying here away from the smog of the city, even the feeling of breathing becomes very comfortable. If the weather is sunny, the scenery is really beautiful under the blue sky and white clouds. Usually, people wear down jackets when they go there, and they can't feel the coolness at all. So what you need to do is to enjoy the joy and comfort that this pure nature brings you.
I think this poplar forest isn't actually that one. It's just a small cluster. Haha, it feels like an imposter. When I got there, they were building a wooden plank road through the forest. It'll surely be a beautiful roadside sight.

The neatly arranged poplar forests are extremely beautiful.
When we went there, it was the dry season. There was not much water in the river and the poplar trees were all small. But the artistic conception was still very good, especially at sunset.
Visiting Daocheng in late autumn, the landscape is awash in golden yellow, set against a backdrop of a pristine blue sky. It's truly breathtaking! Rent a bicycle in the county seat and head toward Banghe Sela. Pedal through a vast poplar forest, sit on the fallen leaves, and eat some food you brought with you. It's truly relaxing!
On the way back to the city from Haizi Mountain, our driver, Brother Wu, was very kind and gave us time to stop so that we could see the beautiful scenery of Daocheng's famous poplar forest. Fortunately, the poplar forest was already standing tall and green. The empty road was filled with dense poplars. It was an unforgettable scene.
It’s a bit of an exaggeration to say that it’s ten thousand acres. It only measures a few hundred acres.
After seeing the yellow leaves on the mountains of Baihaba and Kanas, this small poplar forest left me more disappointed.
The poplar forest in March is still withered and yellow. If you come here in autumn, the scenery will definitely be beautiful. There are always gains and losses, just like in life.
On the way, we encountered a glacier on the side of the road, which was quite spectacular.
There are thousands of acres of poplar forests here, which is the best place for viewing and photography. As a girl who has seen Ejina Huyanglin, I have long lost interest in similar scenery. In addition, a group of Tibetan children in the scenic area chased us for money, which made me, who does not like children, very annoyed. Fortunately, Mr. W donated all the chewing gum he brought with him, so he escaped the pursuit of the children.
In the early autumn season, it shows off its beauty gorgeously without being ostentatious. The green mountains, blue sky and white clouds in the distance set off the perfect scenery.
A must-see attraction in Daocheng, with great views and suitable for photography
It's not the National Day season yet, and some leaves are turning yellow. I think mid-October is the best time to see the trees.
Autumn is incredibly beautiful. Just one leaf signals the arrival of autumn; within two days, most golden leaves will have fallen. Whether they're on branches or on the grass, the sight is truly breathtaking.
In the golden autumn of October, this place is definitely a recommended place to go. When I went to Yanglin on October 2, the color had not yet changed so well, but it was already golden. Coupled with the blue sky, white clouds, and streams, it was absolutely intoxicating.
Just half a month later, by the end of September or early October, this place will be a golden poplar forest.
The scenery is really nice, but it's a pity that half of the leaves had fallen when I went there, so I missed the best time to see the scenery. Either the leaves had not fallen yet and were turning yellow, or all of them had fallen, which should have been the most beautiful time.
Autumn is Daocheng's most poetic season. Daocheng is a dazzling spectacle. The red meadows and yellow poplar forests outside Daocheng create a vibrant sea of color, complementing the azure sky and white clouds. Poplars are a distinctive tree species of the western Sichuan Plateau. Daocheng County, known as the "Home of Poplars," boasts some of the most beautiful poplar forests in western Sichuan. However, long ago, Daocheng was a barren wasteland plagued by sandstorms. To address this, the residents of Daocheng launched a large-scale afforestation effort around the county. It's said that these poplar trees were planted by each Daocheng resident. After decades of hard work, Daocheng County now boasts nearly 30,000 mu (approximately 1,000 acres) of poplar forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site recognized as a "miracle in the forbidden zone of life."
