Zhaji Temple

When Zhaji Temple was first built, it was not dedicated to the God of Wealth. Most of the people who came here to worship were outsiders who came to Lhasa to do business and work. After these businessmen came here to worship, they felt that it was very effective. With the development and innovation of Lhasa, their business was getting better and better. So through word of mouth, Zhaji Temple evolved into the most effective temple for seeking wealth. There are constant incense every day. If you come to worship on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, there will be too many people.
The main deity of Zhaji Temple likes wine, so when you come to Zhaji Temple to worship, in addition to Hada and mulberry branches, you must bring a bottle of white wine or barley wine. These can be prepared specially. If you don't have enough time, it's okay. There are vendors selling these three things at the entrance of the temple all year round, and the price is not expensive.

The only temple of the God of Wealth in Tibet is said to be very efficacious. The deity enshrined in the temple is the Tibetan God of Wealth, Zhaji Ramu, a goddess who loves wine, so remember to bring a few bottles of white wine when you come to Zhaji Temple.

They are sold at the door, prices vary!

The temple is not very big. If you just come to stroll around and take pictures, an hour is enough. If you come here to pray for wealth, it is recommended to come on a Wednesday morning because Wednesday is the most effective day.

There are wine vendors outside the entrance of Zhaqi Temple and inside the temple. Legend has it that the God of Wealth likes to drink, so people buy a bottle of wine to worship him and wish themselves lots of money.

The Zhaji Temple is very popular. You have to queue up to enter the temple. Hoping to live a better life is the common wish of people of different nationalities and beliefs. I just took a picture of the God of Wealth, but was told that taking pictures here is not allowed, so I put away my camera.

It is not big, but it is different. It is the only temple of the God of Wealth in Tibet. Zhaji Lhamo is the God of Wealth in the hearts of Tibetan people. Every Wednesday is the best time to pray for wealth in Zhaji Temple. Our time does not allow us to wait until Wednesday. As the saying goes, sincerity is the key to success. I believe that Zhaji Lhamo can hear our prayers with white wine and Hada.

I have been to Zhaxi Monastery countless times since my first visit to Lhasa. I heard that Zhaxi Lama loves to drink, so naturally I have to bring some white wine for her. Every time I stand in front of the gate of Zhaxi Monastery, I can see the white mulberry smoke billowing up. The incense is very strong, and the smell of the mulberry smoke here is quite pleasant. Crowds of people are surging, and many people come to Zhaxi Monastery to worship.

"Weisang" is a form of sacrifice, just like we light incense at home. People mix cypress branches, ghee, fragrant herbs, etc. together and burn them. The white smoke and fragrance produced are said to convey their piety to the gods, so there are many stalls selling pine and cypress branches in front of the entrance of Zhaqi Temple.

When we entered the main hall, we lined up in front of Zakiram, handed the white wine to the lama, presented the khata to Zakiram, placed our foreheads together, bowed to the Buddha shrine, worshiped respectfully, then left the main hall, and followed the crowd clockwise to worship the Buddha statues in the hall one by one.

Every time I enter the main hall of a temple, my favorite thing is to look at the thangkas or murals inside the hall. It is an enjoyment that I cannot understand but nevertheless feel satisfied.

As for whether the worship at Zhaji Temple is effective, I never worry about it. Regarding the matter of worship and making wishes, I always have this mentality: if all beings are safe, I am safe too; if all beings are rich, then I am rich too. In short, since I am here, I just worship.

No matter what your mood is, after you have worshipped the entire hall, don't forget to go to the roof of Zhaxi Temple. The golden roof of Zhaxi Temple is really beautiful after the snow.

This is the only temple of the God of Wealth in Lhasa. It is said that the God of Wealth is a giant spirit that is prayed for wealth. Early in the morning, people who kowtow to the temple have already started their daily prayers. Groups of people come here, carrying Hada and mulberry branches, holding the favorite white wine of the main god here, and praying for wealth with all their heart.

The line of people praying for blessings was very long, and everyone was chanting something, and they must have been extremely respectful in their hearts. Money may be the common pursuit of mankind, but it is also an inescapable bondage. People like me who don't ask for anything and just quietly visit and wander around the temple are simply an outlier.

Check in at the Tibetan temple of the God of Wealth. The temple is free and closes late. If you are here to seek wealth, please bring your own small bills and white wine to burn incense. After a round, the money detector in front of the Buddha statue is very conspicuous.

Although the place is not big, the incense is really strong. There are many small vendors at the entrance of the temple, selling various offerings for worship. It is said that this god of wealth likes to drink. When worshiping, you can buy a bottle of white wine and a few Hada, and change the change to enter the worship.

Although the temple is small, there are a lot of people here. At the main entrance of Zhaqi Temple, there are many people buying wine and Hada, because the deity enshrined inside is Zhaqi Ram, who loves to drink the most, so wine is indispensable.

Located on Zhaji Road in the northern suburbs of Lhasa, it is the only temple of the God of Wealth in Tibet. Although the temple is small, it is very popular. Zhaji Temple is a branch temple of Sera Monastery, a Gelugpa temple of Tibetan Buddhism, and is also a temple that can be visited for free. The temple is indeed not big, and people who come here are very pious and offer white wine and Hada. I walked around clockwise and bought a Zhaji Ram statue located in a niche in the main hall of the temple. People holding wine bottles and Hada lined up several meters in front of the Zhaji Ram statue. In front of the niche, a monk opened the wine bottle handed by the believers and poured the white wine into the wine jar.

The most impressive thing is the smell of alcohol everywhere. It's like a roadside tavern. The scene is very chaotic. It's a festival. There are a lot of people and it's noisy. But it's worth a look. Check in

By June sky is slightly blue |

If you don't know how to worship, ask the monks. They will teach you. Don't worship wrongly. I didn't know how to worship and almost poured the wine directly in front of the shrine in front of the Buddha statue in the left hall. Worship from left to right, and then give the wine and Hada to the monk after walking to the right hall. He will take the wine bottles handed over by the believers and pour the white wine into the wine jar.

Traditionally, visitors need to bring a bottle of white wine and a Hada to worship the God of Wealth. The above items can be purchased at the temple entrance. The cost (voluntary) ranges from 10 to 20 yuan.

By Taishinji |

We bought a full set of sacrificial supplies at the entrance of Zhaxi Temple. The Tibetans are really simple and honest. We negotiated the price with the aunt at the entrance. She gave us the things and asked us to go in first and then give her the money when we came out. She was not afraid at all that we would run away.

First, we burn mulberry and cypress branches to produce smoke, just like burning incense. We also burn incense when we enter the temple, then give white wine and Hada to the lama, make a wish in front of Zakiram, and add butter to the butter lamp after we come out. The whole set is full of ritual sense, and it only costs a few dozen yuan per person.

Unlike in the mainland, the God of Wealth enshrined here is a female. There is a place specializing in selling tributes at the entrance of the temple. A set of tributes includes Tibetan incense, white wine and Hada, and only costs 20 yuan. In Tibet, sincerity is the main thing when worshiping Buddha, and the money for the tributes is paid after you come out of the worship. In the words of the local people, people who worship Buddha with sincerity will not do the shameful thing of running away.

It is the only temple of the God of Wealth in Tibet. The God of Wealth likes wine, and the temple is filled with the aroma of wine. Everyone comes with wine, and after entering the temple, the monks pour the wine into a wine jar, and then pay tribute to the shrine dedicated to the God of Wealth - Zakiram, and present Hada. Photography is not allowed in the temple, so I had to take a photo of the outside. During the peak season, there is an endless stream of pilgrims, and the incense is prosperous.

There is no admission fee to Zhaji Temple. You can buy a bottle of liquor at the gate, the price ranges from five yuan to several dozen yuan. Worship the God of Wealth at Zhaqi Temple on Monday! I got up early in the morning and took a one-dollar bus to Zhaqi Temple. There was already a long queue at the door! I followed the local customs and bought a bottle of "God of Wealth Wine" and butter tea. I squeezed to the door and waited for about 40 minutes before I could finally enter the main hall of Zhaqi Temple. I stood next to the deacon monk and watched him take the bottle of wine without looking up, opened it skillfully, and slowly poured the wine into a two-layer sacrificial container as big as a small basin. Then I used a spoon to put the wine that was about to overflow from the container back into the empty bottle that I had just poured out. It was considered to have been worshiped! Zhaqi Temple worships the God of Wealth every Monday, safety on Wednesday, and health on Friday! The door opens at 8:30 in the morning!

Walked from the Potala Palace to this temple. There are many incense sticks, no tickets are required, and the worshippers bring the change of 10 cents, 20 cents, and 50 cents saved in a year to burn incense in the temple. We don’t know how to use the change of 1, 5, and 10 yuan, which are all big golden bills. The temple is quiet and orderly. Living next to Zhaji Temple, it was easy to wait until dawn in the morning. I ran out of the hotel excitedly. As soon as I went out, a pungent smell of smoke hit me in the face. In the hazy morning light, thick smoke billowed up to the sky in front of me.

Turning out of the alley, in the faint morning light, I could vaguely see a lot of people, holding something, gathering towards the place where the smoke was rising.

As I got closer, I couldn't help but laugh. It turned out that people were adding firewood to a fire outside the temple wall. There were also vendors nearby, selling piles of pine branches.

Without asking too much, I think everyone came to ask the God of Wealth to bless them with more rice this year, right? Maybe there is also the meaning of "when the sun rises, many hands make light work"? In the past, poor people could not afford to buy incense, so the God of Wealth took pity on all living things and allowed pine branches to be used as a substitute, which was also a kind of mercy? Who knows?

Zhaji Temple is located on Zhaji Road in the northern suburbs of Lhasa. It is the only temple of the God of Wealth in Tibet. The temple is not large, but there are many people coming here. Zhaji Temple is free of charge and you can visit it freely. There are many vendors selling sacrificial items at the door, all of which are sold in bundles. They say that this is how you have to worship the God of Wealth. A bottle of barley wine + a bundle of wormwood and pine leaves + a Hada, a total of 30 yuan. The wormwood and pine leaves are outside the temple, where there is a place similar to a stove. Just throw the pine leaves in and burn them. The white wine should be handed over to the lama in the lobby on all sides, and he will perform the sacrifice. Just give it to him directly. The Hada is to be hung on the statue of the God of Wealth by yourself. After hanging it, just put your hands together and worship it. The whole sacrificial process is very simple.

There are many begging children around Zhaji Temple. They will keep circling around you. You can give them some money, fifty cents or one yuan is fine. Some children will stick to you and refuse to leave when they see you give them money, which makes you feel helpless. It feels like the innocent hearts of children are no longer pure because of the instigation of adults.

Zhaji Temple is a temple dedicated to the God of Wealth, and its main offering is Zhaji Ram. It is very popular, especially on Wednesdays, which is said to be the best time to pray for wealth. It is far from the city, so it is more convenient to take a taxi.

There are many wine sellers at the entrance of Zhaji Temple, it is said that Zhaji Lamu loves to drink. The wine is not expensive, 5 yuan or 10 yuan a bottle. Buy the wine from the vendor at the entrance, she said to pay when she comes out. It's amazing, she can remember who is who when she comes out, and she is not afraid that we will run away haha. After buying the wine and entering the main hall, there are monks who are responsible for pouring the wine, just give him the wine. It is necessary to remind you that you must prepare more change when worshiping Buddha. I see Tibetans hold a handful of 50 cents or one yuan in their hands. It doesn't matter if you don't have change, you can change it yourself. It's okay to put ten yuan in front of the Buddha statue and take out one yuan yourself, as long as you don't change too much.
