Soon after we entered the door, we found a sea of purple flowers in a corner of the garden. We rushed over excitedly, thinking it was lavender. But upon closer inspection, it was not. This purple flower might be called vanilla flower, but it was still very beautiful, and it did not prevent us from posing and showing off in it.



Walking further in, I saw a flower garden with many varieties of flowers, including some cultivated lavender. It was a real surprise. In any case, I got to see the true appearance of Ili lavender.



Finally, we arrived at the lavender garden that we saw in the pictures: a purple sea and sky. The imagined purple sea of lavender had been harvested, like a heavily made-up woman who had taken off her makeup, with only pieces of hard green flower stalks lined up in the field.

In the distance of the lavender garden are dense woods and vague mountains. Even without the purple lavender, the warm light at dusk is still very charming. People who like taking pictures know that the light at dawn and dusk is so beautiful. The photos taken are all warm colors, which makes it easy to produce pictures. This makes Yufeng and I particularly like this time. So even if there is no lavender, we can still take pictures crazily in the empty lavender garden without any flowers, and we are reluctant to leave. Yufeng took selfies and kept saying that the light at this time is so beautiful, and she wanted to stay a little longer and take more pictures.

The occasional tourists passing by, looking at us posing, running and jumping in the bare garden, would probably think that these two people were sick. But it was different with the calm and dignified Guilan. She sat on a bench at the edge of the garden in the distance and watched us admiringly for nearly an hour. She said to us helplessly, if the flowers were still there, you would probably have to stay here tonight.

Before coming here, I had always imagined what a purple sea it would be like. For this reason, I specially arranged this trip to Xinjiang in June. The lavender flowering period is really short. The best viewing period is from mid-June to late June, and then it will be harvested. The manor is actually not very big. At the beginning, there was a guide to visit a small museum, read some pictures and text clips, and learn some basic knowledge about lavender. Then we were taken to a small garden where different varieties of lavender were planted. Each variety was surrounded by wooden fences, in small squares, about a dozen or twenty squares, which means there were so many varieties. Everyone at that time was looking forward to wandering in the purple sea of flowers and didn't care about visiting multiple varieties. The whole group walked very fast. I paid a little attention to observe several varieties. It should be said that there are indeed differences in flower shape, color and fragrance. I don't have a deep impression of the flower shape, but I still have some memory of the color. Lavender is all purple, but with different shades. From the color, there are several varieties. As for the fragrance, I should say that I smelled the familiar rich lavender after entering the manor. When I arrived at the variety garden, the tour guide asked us to get close and smell the difference. Sure enough, I smelled several scents, and occasionally the smell of some varieties was not pleasant.

After visiting the museum and walking through the variety garden, the guide let us move freely and take photos. First, there was a colorful sea of flowers. The colorful flowers clustered together were also beautiful. Walking further back, we saw a purple sea. The lavender was in full bloom. The area was larger than the colorful sea of flowers, but it was not amazing. We could see the end of the four sides at a glance. In addition, there were so many tourists that there were people almost everywhere, so there was no feeling of wandering in the sea of flowers. We could only choose a place with fewer people to take a few photos of our visit. It was as we wished. After watching the lavender up close, I still want to see a wider and more spectacular sea of flowers next time.

Although this trip is free, almost everyone buys lavender products there, and the price is not cheap. When I went home and looked carefully, I found that Xinjiang is the entrusting party, and the entrusting party, that is, the manufacturer, is in Guangzhou. It is okay to visit the lavender fields for free or at your own expense, but it is really not recommended to buy things.

Huocheng County is located at the same latitude as Provence in France, a world-famous lavender producing area. The climate conditions and soil environment are very similar. It is one of the few areas in the world suitable for growing lavender and is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Lavender". Lavender has gradually become a unique business card for Huocheng and even Yili to enter the world's sight. The world-famous lavender has made the world remember Huocheng, a purple and passionate land. When the lavender blooms, the fragrant lavender sways in the wind. At this time, rent a bicycle and ride slowly along the field in the blue sky, white clouds and fragrant wind. Maybe you are willing to be a flower farmer or marry a flower farmer from now on! Why is it called Princess Jieyou's Lavender Garden? It is to commemorate Princess Jieyou who married the Western Region Wusun Kingdom in the Western Han Dynasty. Princess Jieyou was the princess who made the greatest contribution to the Han Dynasty and the princess who made the greatest contribution to the marriage in Chinese history. She made important contributions to the development of the Khan and the Wusun Kingdom.

Princess Jieyou Lavender Garden did not meet the expectations of the friends in the first phase of the event. In fact, before going to the lavender garden, I knew that everyone was looking forward to and yearning for this attraction. After all, it is not easy to take pictures freely in a large lavender garden in the mainland.

The season was not right. The flowers and plants were not in full bloom yet. The area was very large. Lavender can be used to make skin care products. I bought an eye mask for 28 yuan. I lost it before I even used it. What a careless person.

Princess Jieyou Lavender Manor is about 10 kilometers west of Huocheng County, next to the national highway, with convenient transportation. The lavender area is not large, the scenery is average, and the ticket price is 35 yuan.

We came to the "Princess Jieyou Lavender Base" under the scorching sun at noon. This is definitely a place that only tour groups go to. It is purely a shopping spot. There is a lavender theme pavilion inside that you can take a look at. There are classic French distillers, perfume tables, essential oils and lavender specimens. However, the lavender plantation here is very small and not worth a visit. It is not as good as the fields on the national highway. Don't buy the lavender ice cream sold here, it's super unpalatable!

We also came to the Princess Jieyou Lavender Field. I had bought lavender products from Yili online before, but it was really different to experience it myself. Before we left, the tour leader said that July and August are the harvest season for lavender, and there may not be as many as in June. We thought it was okay and it was worth a visit. The tour leader's photography skills were not ordinary, after all, he was the one carrying a cannon, hahahaha

There is a large area of lavender in the scenic area, which is worth a visit for friends who like flowers. There are also introductions to lavender and places selling lavender-related products, such as lavender masks, etc. June is the flowering season for lavender, and the scenery is average at other times.

It's early June and not yet in full bloom, but it's already a charming purple. I saw many beautiful women taking photos with various props.

The lavenders in many parks do not bloom synchronously, some bloom later, some bloom earlier, in order to attract tourists for a longer period of time and avoid a one-time sale, because the lavender flowering period is only a few days. This also makes it difficult for you to see large areas of blooming lavender, but only a piece of it, with a gap between green and yellow!

Every June in Huocheng, tens of thousands of acres of lavender fields merge into a purple ocean, and the rich fragrance of lavender is everywhere.

If you come in June, there will still be some in early July. After mid-July, they have been harvested. The remaining ones are also for viewing, not too many.

The 65th Regiment has the largest lavender production, and they plant lavender all over the mountains. However, the 65th Regiment has not developed a specific scenic spot. You can navigate to the 65th Regiment and find a local guide to take you to a very large lavender field. Generally, you can pay five or ten yuan. The local guide didn't even charge us, and let us just look around. However, the lavender planted outside is not planted in rows like Princess Jieyou, so the photo effect will be worse.

As soon as I entered the garden, I was submerged in the purple ocean. Looking out, the smoky green forest and the vast snow-capped mountains merged with the white clouds in the distance, forming a beautiful background. Such a pure watercolor ink picture stood in front of me, and I lost the ability to express myself. The rich lavender fragrance filled the whole body with an atmosphere of happiness and tranquility.

The flower language of lavender is waiting for love, and it also symbolizes purity, cleanliness, protection, gratitude and peace. The continuous purple ocean reveals the yearning for love. If you don't go to Provence, how can you miss Yili now that you are here? Purple is melancholy, mysterious and romantic. Flowers are a temptation that most girls can't resist. Then lavender is the dream of a girl swaying on the ridge of the field. Walking in the muddy sea of flowers, the air is extremely fresh after the rain, and the rich fragrance is carried by the refreshing wind across the endless fields. I always can't tell the difference between sage and lavender. They feel so similar. In a trance, I think of the Middle Ages, the unique ethnic costumes, the calls of the vendors, and the smell of various spices in the market. Farmlands are usually guarded by people. There will be some props in the sea of lavender. In fact, it is similar to taking pictures of rapeseed flowers in Qinghai Lake. Remember that in Qinghai Lake, the rapeseed flowers are blocked by barbed wire, and it is difficult to take pictures from the outside, forcing you to "buy a ticket" to enter the flower field. There is also a fee to enter the sea of lavender, ten yuan per person. However, because the lavender plants are short, you can see them at a glance. The boss will not say anything if you stand outside and take a few photos. Squatting by the flowers is rich in fragrance. The fragrance of lavender has a calming effect. The sea of flowers makes people feel happy.

Maybe it's out of season, so I didn't see large tracts of lavender. There are many fences on the roadside, with some shapes for people to enter and take pictures, but there should be a charge.

I read online that lavender blooms twice a year: one season from the end of May to mid-June, harvested at the end of June; one season from July to August, harvested again at the end of September. And there are so many places to see lavender on the Internet, but in fact, I found that it is not as beautiful as I imagined. At present, the cultivation of lavender itself is less possible than before, and many of them are planted in manors to attract tourists. I found a lavender field of decent size in the 65th Regiment (a little further from the Princess Jieyou Garden), and it was in bloom, but unfortunately the flowers were not in full bloom.

The peak flowering period of Huocheng lavender is at the end of June. I went to the Princess Jieyou Lavender Manor with the idea of trying my luck. I could still see the flowers. After all, this is a scenic spot, not a free flower field on the roadside. The manor is filled with strong floral fragrance. You can learn about various knowledge about lavender and take beautiful photos. As expected, the lavender will be cut in early July, and some will be left for tourists to enjoy.

On October 5, 2017, Huo County was really big. We crossed the Guozigou Bridge to the Horgos Port and headed towards Yining. We made a special trip to Princess Jieyou's lavender garden.

In October, the purple ocean can no longer be seen in the Wanmu Grass Garden. Only a small piece of dried lavender remains for tourists to take photos.

Everyone was looking at the lavender that was half a person's height. The men had no interest in taking pictures. Only a few crazy women ran into the grass, posing and shaping. Fortunately, the temperature here was much warmer than the north side of the mountain, and the sun was out. I heard that lavender likes places with a large temperature difference between morning and evening and strong sunshine. French Provence lavender can only be grown and survived near Yining, Xinjiang.

Provence in the East is the easiest place to make photos. It is also a battlefield for female compatriots to show off their various styles. It is one of the popular attractions in Xinjiang in June and July. Highly recommended!

In early June, lavender still looks like a young girl. The unopened buds are a bit arrogant, holding the fragrance tightly in their arms. The lavender in Huocheng is not as good as advertised. In fact, the tens of thousands of acres of lavender are almost invisible. All the lavender in Huocheng added together only has 20,000 acres.

It is about 90km away from Yining city and about 1.5 hours’ drive. I don’t recommend the most famous Princess Jieyou Lavender Garden, but the 8th Company of the 65th Regiment, which is much better than the commercial lavender farms, with lavender all over the mountains.

The 10,000-acre lavender garden has just been built, and the lavender is growing sparsely. It may be better in a few years.

But when we got there, we felt a completely different scene. We thought that as soon as we arrived in Huocheng, both sides of the road were covered with lavender. We only saw that the buildings and houses on both sides of the road were painted purple. There were not many lavender gardens, and they were scattered here and there. We didn't see any large-scale ones. We also walked to the more famous Sangong Township, but basically returned empty-handed. Later, we walked to Princess Jieyou Lavender Manor and saw tourists and vehicles outside the manor. We decided to try our luck at Princess Jieyou Lavender Farm in Lucaogou Town.

Actually, we had no idea what the farm was like at that time. Fortunately, we went to Princess Jieyou Lavender Farm and saw endless lavender in front of us. We were not disappointed. It was sunset, and we stood in the world of lavender, smelling the faint fragrance of flowers, wandering in the purple ocean, as if a fairy tale door was slowly opening to us.

The flower fields are full of rich aromas. Rows of lavender extend to the distant hillside, bordering the golden rapeseed flowers, and spreading to the snow-capped mountains in the distance. Wear a white dress and jump in the purple ocean. Of course, sun protection must be done well. The ultraviolet rays in Xinjiang are not generally strong. If the back of your hand is not carefully ignored, it will become a "mafia"!

But overall, the planting area is not too concentrated, and there are always patches here and there, without forming an endless effect. In the lavender fields of the 65th Corps, we saw domestic quality and French varieties. Compared with domestic varieties, the color is richer and the flower spikes are larger.

June should be the best time. I went there in mid-July, and there were not many lavenders and many mosquitoes.

You can see lavender fields on both sides of the highway. As a middle-aged woman who has been brainwashed by Provence, I have no resistance to this purple sea of flowers. It is the right season and the right place. It is unreasonable not to get off the car and clock in. The lavender fields here are planted by households. Each family has its own land. There is a fee to enter the farmland. It is okay to just take two photos outside. It is in full bloom. There are many bees in the flower fields, buzzing.

As soon as you open the car door, you will be greeted by the fragrance of flowers. The area is filled with fragrance for miles. It is the peak flowering period, with piles of purple flowers blooming in great abundance. Large tracts of lavender are like dark purple waves. The only drawback is that the planting here is a bit scattered.

It was beautiful, but later in my trip I found that the lavender in the 8th Company of the 72nd Regiment in Xinyuan was even better.

Because we didn't plan to go to the paid attractions, we set the destination of our navigation to the 65th Regiment of the 4th Agricultural Division. We stopped to take pictures when we saw the beautiful sea of flowers on the way. We thought someone would come to collect the money halfway through the photo shoot, but there was no one. There was another couple in the flower field who had just come out of the Princess Jieyou. According to them, this nameless flower field was more beautiful than the Princess Jieyou. We would be sorry if we didn't stop to take more pictures.

Actually, I saw some comments online before that Princess Jieyou Lavender Farm was not very good. But after I saw it, I found that it was not as good as what was said online. The most famous planting bases in the area are the Princess Jieyou Lavender Garden in Qingshuihe Town and the 65th Regiment of the Fourth Agricultural Division. We chose to go to the latter (because we thought there were too many people in the Princess Jieyou Garden).

The 65th Regiment of the 4th Agricultural Division was not easy to find. I asked many locals along the way and finally found the huge flower field deep in the path with the help of a Kazakh uncle on a motorcycle.

As soon as I opened the car door, I was greeted by the overwhelming fragrance of flowers. It was the peak flowering season, with piles of purple flowers blooming in great abundance. The blue sky, clean sunshine and clear air, and the vast expanse of lavender were like undulating waves of deep purple, forming a dream of the earth that could not be awakened. The area within a radius of several miles was shrouded in the rich fragrance of lavender.

The only drawback is that the lavender planting in Huocheng County is slightly scattered, so the viewing experience is not particularly good.

The best season for flower viewing is generally from mid-June to July each year. There is also a second season of flowers blooming from late August to early September, but the amount of planting in autumn is not large, so it is not worth going there specially to see them.

The specific flowering time of each year depends on the temperature of the climate, and there are differences every year. You can pay attention to the relevant information of the "Huocheng Lavender Festival" on the Internet for reference. The peak flowering period lasts for about half a month, and the harvesting time is from east to west, 65th, 70th, and 71st groups, staggered by about a week.

It was not the lavender season when we visited, but since we were in Yili, we naturally had to visit the lavender planting base in Huocheng and buy some lavender products.

Compared to the lavender fields in Hokkaido, Japan, the lavender fields planted in various homes in Huocheng seem small in scale... like a mini version of the flower fields in Hokkaido.
