Wolong Bay

1km south of Moon Bay is Wolong Bay, which is named after an island in the water that looks like a pterosaur. Locals also call it Kazan Lake, or Pot Bottom Lake, because the shape of the lake resembles the bottom of a pot.
The lake is surrounded by dense forests, colorful flowers, green grass, and beautiful islands. There is a wooden bridge at the outlet of the lake. Standing on the bridge, you can see the mirror-like Wolong Bay to the north and the roaring Kanas River to the south.

After visiting Kanas Lake, we took the bus back to the tourist service center. We took the shuttle bus directly down. We did not get off the bus to visit Yaze Lake because it was similar to the glacial lake at the mouth of Kanas Lake and the scenery of Shenxian Bay was not special enough. We got off at Yueliang Bay, then walked along the wooden plank road along the Kanas River to Wolong Bay, and got on the shuttle bus again to leave the scenic area. The scenery of Kanas River is really amazing. No wonder it is called the palette of nature. It should be more beautiful in autumn when the forests are dyed. There was also a small episode in the middle. When we were walking and playing slowly, we met a young Kazakh special policeman who was looking for an old man who had fallen behind in the tour group (later found that the old man had left the scenic area early and his mobile phone was turned off). After a while, the special policeman came back and found that we were still walking slowly. He took the initiative to help us carry the backpack, but of course we declined.

Wolong Bay is 1 km away from Moon Bay. Instead of taking the shuttle bus, you can reach it on foot along a sightseeing plank road along the Kanas River.

Wolong Bay is a group of winding river bays formed by the long-term erosion of the Kanas River.

When the 800-meter-long river channel downstream widens to 460 meters, the flow of the river slows down and the river surface becomes rippling with green waves.

At the same time, an island-like platform appeared on the open river surface, shaped like a sleeping dragon lying in the water.

Wolong Bay got its name from this.

From Moon Bay to Wolong Bay, it is recommended not to take the scenic bus, but to take a leisurely tour along the wooden plank road. The distance between the two is only about 2 kilometers. Along the way, you can also take a look at how Moon Bay extends to Wolong Bay from multiple angles. In fact, the water in the three bays is the same, but it presents different appearances when it reaches different corners and encounters different geological landforms. The characteristic of Wolong Bay is the small island in the lake, which is like a pearl inlaid in the middle of the water. The island in the middle of the lake in the bay is like a huge sleeping dragon, lying here. Legend has it that a long time ago, a giant dragon flew in the clouds and mist to play in the water. Suddenly, the weather changed suddenly, and the ice and snow froze in an instant, freezing the giant dragon here, so it was named Wolong Bay. Since ancient times, China has respected dragons, so Wolong Bay is very spiritual. Come and worship, haha~ Leaving Wolong Bay means the end of the tour of Kanas Scenic Area.

The Kanas River suddenly becomes wide and calm when it flows through this section of the river. The flow rate slows down, the water surface is soft and ripples, and the water is green and clear. There is a small island with lush vegetation in the Kanas River. From a distance, it looks like a dinosaur lying quietly in the water, and Wolong Bay is named after it. The river is surrounded by dense trees and the green color is intoxicating. The water surface is rippling and the river water is clear. The reflections in the river are picturesque, and the clear and beautiful scenery makes people intoxicated. There are three floors in the Wolong Bay viewing platform, some places have good views, and some places have good angles for taking pictures.

When you reach a narrow place with piles of rocks and turbulent water, you are close to Wolong Bay. The roaring white waves roll and whistle among the rocks, rushing down like a passionate and exciting movement. When the water reaches Wolong Bay, the river suddenly becomes wide and open, and the water flows slowly, just like the gentle and graceful music after the heart has calmed down. Here, the hillsides on both sides slowly stretch upwards, there are many shallows and broken stones on the riverside, and the raised sandbars in the river are tenaciously growing green grass and small trees, and weeds are overgrown near the shore.

When we climbed up the stone steps with great effort, we looked back and were shocked! The sandbar that was just ordinary turned out to be a dinosaur lying on its side in the water! In the deep water, the turbulent flow washed out a smooth dragon spine; in the shallow water, the slow flow deposited huge claws. Such a magical creation of nature reminded me of Su Shi's poem: "Looking from the side, it is a mountain, looking from the front, it is a peak; it is different from far and near, high and low." When traveling, you really need to walk more and change your perspective more to discover the true meaning of beauty.

Looking down from a distance, the giant dragon is swearing its inviolable sovereignty with its rugged back, and its totemic shape exudes the wild and primitive brilliance of faith. In summer, when the water level rises, only the green island can be seen floating in the water. Only in autumn and winter, when the water level recedes, can the winding and elegant curves of the sandbar be seen, like the head of a sleeping dragon.

For thousands of years, it has stood still, witnessed the growth and decay of plants and trees, heard the changes in the ocean, silently guarded this bay of holy water, and welcomed visitors from all directions with its majestic and grand posture.

The one-way hike from Moon Bay to Wolong Bay is 2.2 kilometers, which is very worthwhile. After overlooking Moon Bay from the viewing platform, you can walk down along the plank road, which is built next to the lake. However, there is still a distance of about ten steps, and the unique blue of Kanas Lake is looming in the woods.

Near Wolong Bay, the water flow gradually became turbulent with the terrain, and the rocky beach replaced the soft wet mud swamp. It was almost noon when we hiked to Wolong Bay. The lake surface was covered with fine diamond-like light in the sun, and the shape changed when the wind blew.

By Ferris Wheel |

I walked up the wooden plank road with my head down, and when I looked up, my eyes suddenly lit up, and a cute dinosaur appeared in the middle of the river. I thought that the river in Wolong Bay would also look like a dragon, but I didn't expect that a sandbar with dense vegetation was deposited in the middle of the gentle Kanas River. At first glance, this sandbar looks like a dinosaur!

Continue walking down the river valley for about one kilometer and you will come to the last bend of the three bays: Wolong Bay. Wolong Bay is formed by a series of river bends with tortuous shorelines formed by the long-term lateral erosion and scouring of the Kanas River. The river flow slows down here and the water surface is gently rippled. Walking on the observation deck and overlooking the panoramic view of the Ω-shaped river bend, it looks like a dragon lying and playing in the water, hence the name Wolong Bay.

[Wolong Bay] The water of Kanas Lake flows into Wolong Bay from the northwest corner of the river bend. The waves hit the boulders at the water inlet, and the boulders hit the middle of the stream, splashing jade beads. Due to the wide river bend, the river flow slows down here, and the water surface is floating, blue and clean, clear and transparent, sparkling.

The lake is surrounded by dense forests, colorful flowers and green grass. The small island in the lake is even more beautiful, like a pearl inlaid in the middle of the water.

There is a wooden bridge at the outlet of the lake, from east to west. Standing on the bridge, you can see the mirror-like Wolong Bay to the north, and the roaring Kanas River to the south. The island in the middle of the bay is like a huge sleeping dragon, lying there.

Wolong Bay Scenic Area is an excellent place for summer tourism and summer vacation. It has a cool climate, abundant rainfall, and a flat platform with a wide view. Visitors can rest, enjoy the scenery, and cool off in the dense forests in the valley, or go boating in the small lake or fishing on the shore. Wolong Bay is picturesque, beautiful and magical. Although it is not as majestic as Kanas Lake, its scenery and magic are far better than the latter.

Wolong Bay is the southernmost scenic spot of the three bays in Kanas Scenic Area. There is a beach on the spacious river surface, which is shaped like a dragon. When you take the shuttle bus from Jiadengyu, the first scenic spot you see on the bus is Wolong Bay. But the shuttle bus does not stop.

By Scholar's spirit |

Today's focus is hiking the Three Bays, which is also the essence of Kanas Scenic Area. After the shuttle bus arrives at the Kanas Transfer Center, transfer to the shuttle bus bound for Jiadengyu. The order of the three bays on the return trip is Shenxian Bay-Moon Bay-Wolong Bay. The shuttle bus will stop at three stops. There are also special wooden plank roads between the three, where you can enjoy the scenery along the Kanas River, which is more free and comfortable!

We took the local train and got off at Shenxian Bay.

The total distance from Moon Bay to Wolong Bay is 2.2 kilometers. It is much easier to climb from the riverside of Wolong Bay to the upper viewing platform than that of Moon Bay. Does this shape in the river look like a dinosaur?

One of the three bays of Kanas, it is located in the south of Moon Bay, and is about 2.2 kilometers away from Moon Bay. There is a small island in the river bay that is said to look like a pterosaur or a Tyrannosaurus Rex, but in reality it always looks like a big bat🦇

We first came to Wolong Bay. The sun was still fully visible at this time, and a thin mist was floating over the bay. Wolong Bay was covered with a white coat by frost in late autumn, but to me it didn't look like a dragon. From a distance it looked like a big dinosaur.

After arriving at Wolong Bay, we stood on the observation deck and looked down. Emmmm, this Wolong Bay in front of us... where is the dragon... ?

I looked at the introduction to the scenic spot nearby, which said that the island in the middle of the lake, which is shaped like a pistol, is the origin of the name Wolong Bay.

I had always thought you were a Chinese dragon, but after all this fuss, it turns out you are actually a Tyrannosaurus Rex... Okay, the imagination of the people who named the tourist attractions is really endless, this is truly the fruit of wisdom.

There is a downward plank road in Wolong Bay. You can walk along the plank road all the way down to the lake. The plank road extends along the lakeside towards Moon Bay. If the weather is good, you can walk along this plank road all the way back to Moon Bay. You will definitely find many unexpected surprises along the way.

There are empty buses in Wolong Bay to take tourists back to the transfer center after watching the morning fog in Sanwan. But we once heard a tour guide mention that it may not be easy to get a bus from Yueliang Bay to the transfer center, because most of the buses coming up from Wolong Bay are full and cannot pick up passengers if there are no empty seats.

So, if you want to walk along the plank road between Wolong Bay and Moon Bay, I suggest you walk from Moon Bay to Wolong Bay, and then take a bus directly back to the transfer center at Wolong Bay; if you do not plan to walk along the plank road, but just want to check in at the observation decks of the three scenic spots, you can take a bus all the way down from one bay to another, and finally take a bus back at Wolong Bay.

In summary, you should avoid taking the bus back to the transfer center at Moon Bay, as it is not easy to get a bus.

More than one kilometer downstream of Moon Bay. I didn't see Wolong, but the small island in the middle of the river looked like a Tyrannosaurus Rex. There was a flat open area on the river bank, and not many tourists came down, so you can stay as long as you want. There were too many people in the beautiful scenery, and we were more like spectators of Kanas. When there were fewer people, we felt more like we were in it.

Wolong Bay is the most worth-seeing place in Kanas. In the center of the river bend there is a sandbar with lush vegetation, which looks like a giant dragon lying quietly in the water, hence the name Wolong Bay. Looking around the lake, the forest is dense and lush, bringing vitality to people.

By Big Face Cat |

I have always wondered why it is called Wolong Bay. It doesn't look like a dragon at all. But after reading the explanation, I found out that it is a Tyrannosaurus Rex. It is really amazing.

The distance from Moon Bay to Wolong Bay is 3 kilometers. We chose to hike along the plank road down to the lake. It took us an hour and a half to walk these 3 kilometers. It was not because the road was difficult to walk on, but because the scenery by the river was so beautiful. Every scenery in front of us was enough to hold our feet. The water surface was very calm, and the color of the water changed from the blue of Kanas Lake to emerald green.

I didn’t expect that I would be shocked by the beautiful scenery before leaving Kanas, and feel the infinite charm of this pool of clear water. . . .

There is a wooden bridge at the outlet of Wolong Bay. Standing on the bridge, the north is as flat as a mirror, and the south is the roaring Kanas River. It is named because there is an island in the water that looks like a pterosaur, but from our perspective it is a cute "Pig Bay".

It turns out that getting up early is worth it. When we got off the bus at Wolong Bay, the whole scenic area was empty except for us. As we walked, there was a puppy following us to find beautiful scenery, just like guiding us on a jungle adventure. But be careful, the animals in the scenic area only recognize food, so when you open your backpack, they will be particularly excited. It is best not to feed them to prevent being bitten or scratched. If it has rained or the temperature is low, the plank road will be covered with frost and very slippery. The four of us fell and our butts hurt.

By Right Here |

I personally think that Wolong Bay ranks the lowest among the three bays. Drones are not allowed here. If you come here to fly, you must be careful and obey the management.

I quickly walked down the plank road to the edge of the bay, fearing that someone would take my bank. I was like a competitive kindergarten kid wearing pink pants, yellow hat and orange bag who would take it even if no one else did. Haha. I spent a long time trying to get off the water before deciding to get off. The bank looked like hard ground, but it was actually a man-eating swamp. Fortunately, I reacted quickly and fled back to the icy and slippery wooden plank road.

We didn’t do much research on Wolong Bay, but we felt it was very suitable for hiking and for careful savoury.

Because there is a pool of clear water, the reflection is very beautiful. Coupled with the light of the rising sun, it is soft and beautiful.

When we descended to the lake, the morning sun hit our faces. It was so relaxing. We had already hiked for almost 10 km, and we didn't feel so tired anymore.

The reason why it is called Wolong Bay is that the barrier here is like the back of a sleeping dragon, 30% of the shape and 70% of the imagination, but I have not figured it out after going there several times. However, the scenery here is really beautiful, especially the reflection of the back, which, together with the barrier, really looks like a giant dragon crawling under the water.

Wolong Bay, according to the official statement, is a series of river bends with tortuous shorelines formed by the long-term lateral erosion and scouring of the Kanas River. The river slows down here and the water surface is gently wavy. Two peninsula-shaped platforms are developed on both sides of the Ω-shaped river bend. The crescent-shaped platform is on the river bend, and the Wolong Bay platform is downstream, which is 800 meters long, 450 meters wide, and covers an area of 36,000 square meters. Climbing up the lateral moraine platform at an altitude of 1,500 meters beside the east road, overlooking the panoramic view of the Ω-shaped river bend, it looks like a dragon lying in the water, hence the name Wolong Bay. Private opinions, however, believe that it looks like a Jurassic Triceratops!

We chose to take a car to the last bay, Wolong Bay, and then go upstream along the lakeside plank road. We went up the stream one by one. Since we got up early, there were not many people on the lakeside plank road. The lake was unusually calm in the morning, very beautiful, like a fairyland.

Some people say that this island looks like a dragon, hence the name Wolong Bay. Although it is still a little bit lacking, the lake water is so beautiful.

When we arrived at Wolong Bay, the sun was about to rise. The clouds in the mountains formed cloud paths, hanging between the mountains. The shadows of the clouds and the light were imprinted on the turquoise lake, illuminating an island in the water that looked like a pterosaur.

Hike to Wolong Bay and feel the coolness of the river water up close. That pool of blue water is unique without the need for sunshine. In the open area, it is horizontally in the camera, like the best photographer, taking the most realistic photos; in the shallows, the water is turbulent, and the blue silk-like river water splashes white water on the rocks. Sit on the fallen poplar trunk on the shore, close your eyes, and listen, your ears are filled with the empty echo of the river in the valley.

Wolong Bay has a magnificent name, and the green space in the middle actually looks like a little dinosaur, which is very cute.

Wolong Bay is a series of river bends with tortuous shorelines formed by the long-term lateral erosion and scouring of the Kanas River. The river slows down here, and the water surface is soft and wavy. Two peninsula-shaped platforms are developed on both sides of the Ω-shaped river bend, and there is a crescent-shaped platform on the river bend. Two small beaches are developed in the river bend, like two huge footprints. Legend has it that even gods could not resist the temptation of the beautiful scenery and left them when they came down to earth to enjoy the scenery. Climbing up the lateral moraine platform at an altitude of 1,500 meters beside the east road, overlooking the panoramic view of the Ω-shaped river bend, it looks like a dragon lying in the water, and Wolong Bay got its name from this.
