Wolong Bay

After visiting Kanas Lake, we took the bus back to the tourist service center. We took the shuttle bus directly down. We did not get off the bus to visit Yaze Lake because it was similar to the glacial lake at the mouth of Kanas Lake and the scenery of Shenxian Bay was not special enough. We got off at Yueliang Bay, then walked along the wooden plank road along the Kanas River to Wolong Bay, and got on the shuttle bus again to leave the scenic area. The scenery of Kanas River is really amazing. No wonder it is called the palette of nature. It should be more beautiful in autumn when the forests are dyed. There was also a small episode in the middle. When we were walking and playing slowly, we met a young Kazakh special policeman who was looking for an old man who had fallen behind in the tour group (later found that the old man had left the scenic area early and his mobile phone was turned off). After a while, the special policeman came back and found that we were still walking slowly. He took the initiative to help us carry the backpack, but of course we declined.

Wolong Bay is 1 km away from Moon Bay. Instead of taking the shuttle bus, you can reach it on foot along a sightseeing plank road along the Kanas River.

Wolong Bay is a group of winding river bays formed by the long-term erosion of the Kanas River.

When you reach a narrow place with piles of rocks and turbulent water, you are close to Wolong Bay. When the water reaches Wolong Bay, the river suddenly becomes wide and open, and the water flows slowly, just like the gentle and graceful music after the heart has calmed down. Here, the hillsides on both sides slowly stretch upwards, there are many shallows and broken stones on the riverside, and the raised sandbars in the river are tenaciously growing green grass and small trees, and weeds are overgrown near the shore.

When we climbed up the stone steps with great effort, we looked back and were shocked! The sandbar that was just ordinary turned out to be a dinosaur lying on its side in the water! In the deep water, the turbulent flow washed out a smooth dragon spine; in the shallow water, the slow flow deposited huge claws. Such a magical creation of nature reminded me of Su Shi's poem: "Looking from the side, it is a mountain, looking from the front, it is a peak; it is different from far and near, high and low." When traveling, you really need to walk more and change your perspective more to discover the true meaning of beauty.

The one-way hike from Moon Bay to Wolong Bay is 2.2 kilometers, which is very worthwhile. After overlooking Moon Bay from the viewing platform, you can walk down along the plank road, which is built next to the lake. However, there is still a distance of about ten steps, and the unique blue of Kanas Lake is looming in the woods.

Near Wolong Bay, the water flow gradually became turbulent with the terrain, and the rocky beach replaced the soft wet mud swamp. It was almost noon when we hiked to Wolong Bay. The lake surface was covered with fine diamond-like light in the sun, and the shape changed when the wind blew.

I walked up the wooden plank road with my head down, and when I looked up, my eyes suddenly lit up, and a cute dinosaur appeared in the middle of the river. I thought that the river in Wolong Bay would also look like a dragon, but I didn't expect that a sandbar with dense vegetation was deposited in the middle of the gentle Kanas River. At first glance, this sandbar looks like a dinosaur!

Continue walking down the river valley for about one kilometer and you will come to the last bend of the three bays: Wolong Bay. Wolong Bay is formed by a series of river bends with tortuous shorelines formed by the long-term lateral erosion and scouring of the Kanas River. After arriving at Wolong Bay, we stood on the observation deck and looked down. Emmmm, this Wolong Bay in front of us... where is the dragon... ?

I looked at the introduction to the scenic spot nearby, which said that the island in the middle of the lake, which is shaped like a pistol, is the origin of the name Wolong Bay.

I had always thought you were a Chinese dragon, but after all this fuss, it turns out you are actually a Tyrannosaurus Rex... Okay, the imagination of the people who named the tourist attractions is really endless, this is truly the fruit of wisdom.

There is a downward plank road in Wolong Bay. You can walk along the plank road all the way down to the lake. The plank road extends along the lakeside towards Moon Bay. If the weather is good, you can walk along this plank road all the way back to Moon Bay. You will definitely find many unexpected surprises along the way.

There are empty buses in Wolong Bay to take tourists back to the transfer center after watching the morning fog in Sanwan. But we once heard a tour guide mention that it may not be easy to get a bus from Yueliang Bay to the transfer center, because most of the buses coming up from Wolong Bay are full and cannot pick up passengers if there are no empty seats.

So, if you want to walk along the plank road between Wolong Bay and Moon Bay, I suggest you walk from Moon Bay to Wolong Bay, and then take a bus directly back to the transfer center at Wolong Bay; if you do not plan to walk along the plank road, but just want to check in at the observation decks of the three scenic spots, you can take a bus all the way down from one bay to another, and finally take a bus back at Wolong Bay.

In summary, you should avoid taking the bus back to the transfer center at Moon Bay, as it is not easy to get a bus.

More than one kilometer downstream of Moon Bay. I didn't see Wolong, but the small island in the middle of the river looked like a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Rafting in Hemu Village, poplar trees in Wucai Beach, cold-water grilled fish in Burqin, a very satisfying day. It gets light at 6 o'clock and dark at 10:30 pm. The earliest dinner is 9:30 every night. The distance from Moon Bay to Wolong Bay is 3 kilometers. We chose to hike along the plank road down to the lake. It took us an hour and a half to walk these 3 kilometers. It was not because the road was difficult to walk on, but because the scenery by the river was so beautiful. Every scenery in front of us was enough to hold our feet. The water surface was very calm, and the color of the water changed from the blue of Kanas Lake to emerald green.

It is best not to feed them to prevent being bitten or scratched. If it has rained or the temperature is low, the plank road will be covered with frost and very slippery. The four of us fell and our butts hurt.

I personally think that Wolong Bay ranks the lowest among the three bays. Drones are not allowed here. If you come here to fly, you must be careful and obey the management.

I quickly walked down the plank road to the edge of the bay, fearing that someone would take my bank. I was like a competitive kindergarten kid wearing pink pants, yellow hat and orange bag who would take it even if no one else did. Haha. I spent a long time trying to get off the water before deciding to get off. The bank looked like hard ground, but it was actually a man-eating swamp. Fortunately, I reacted quickly and fled back to the icy and slippery wooden plank road.

We didn’t do much research on Wolong Bay, but we felt it was very suitable for hiking and for careful savoury.

When we descended to the lake, the morning sun hit our faces. It was so relaxing. We had already hiked for almost 10 km, and we didn't feel so tired anymore.

The reason why it is called Wolong Bay is that the barrier here is like the back of a sleeping dragon, 30% of the shape and 70% of the imagination, but I have not figured it out after going there several times. However, the scenery here is really beautiful, especially the reflection of the back, which, together with the barrier, really looks like a giant dragon crawling under the water.

I was shocked by the scenery. There were not many tourists (the tour groups were all in Shenxian Bay and Moon Bay at this time). The light was just right and I could enjoy it quietly!

There are many slopes and angles, and the flow of people is dispersed.

To be honest, if you don't fly high into the sky, you really can't tell what the shapes here have to do with dragons.

It's really beautiful when viewed from the air.
