In my understanding, the feeling that Dali gives is simplicity and purity, especially with the rapid development of Dali homestays in recent years. I didn't have high expectations for Erhai Lake before I went there. Due to excessive development in the past, Erhai Lake has been seriously polluted, so slogans to protect Erhai Lake have been posted in many places along the lake. There are many internet-famous homestays by the Erhai Lake, and many internet-famous photos on the Internet are from there. They have added a lot of filters, and the natural scenery is not very natural.

Very disappointed, it feels like I came to a fake Erhai Lake, not the legendary one at all! Huanhai West Road is a big construction site, full of large construction vehicles, dusty! I feel sorry for those who rent battery cars, the road conditions are too bad, we drove here by ourselves, and dared not open the window the whole time, the air is too bad! The only thing we can do is to take some Internet celebrity props to take pictures, all of which are charged by the villagers and lined up by the Erhai Lake, so don’t believe those photos easily, it’s not that good in reality! This time I played all the way, almost a month’s trip, except for Puzhehei, Erhai Lake is too disappointing! If you want to come and play, you should wait a few years and come back after it is rectified. Anyway, I will not come again!

There are too many pictures. I cycled for four days, stayed in inns and ate delicious food along the way. On the second day, it was windy and rainy. I caught a cold. After many twists and turns, my friend Mo Mo arrived at Dali, his ideal place - Wish You Would Not Fail. Some places are destined to wait for you at some time. The sky, clouds, lakes, buildings and people here... It is impossible to describe the scenery and everything you see in words. It seems that everything cannot be described. It seems that the purpose of each arrival is the same, but the mood is actually very different.

When the experience of inner joy becomes as natural as breathing, when emotions change from delicate plants and dust to forests and mountains in the body. At night, the stars are twinkling, and a beam of moonlight quietly shines on this land. You walk quietly under the starry sky, with only the sound of the wind and the cherry blossoms on the roadside, and the rustling sound of the flowers swaying in the evening breeze. Clouds float in the blue sky, and the wind lingers on the gray and white buildings... Their awakeness makes you feel more like a dream than sleeping when you watch them, and you think you are just a bystander outside a dream.

The sunrise over Erhai Lake in the morning is more gentle than what I have seen before. The morning glow paints the blue lake and everything around it into a diffuse orange-red scene. Everything is quietly changing in this deep and light red. The sky gradually brightens, and a red boundary appears between the blue sky and Erhai Lake... I tell people that there are some places where you just come and you miss them as if you left. All this comes from "love".

Separation and reunion are repeated in life. We should learn to get used to them and face them without sadness. When the car turned uphill and passed the corner, I saw the blue sky and plants in the distance. They were sparse and interesting, and I liked them. If I came here to sketch, I could paint everywhere... This is my first time passing by. I miss it even before I leave. Forget time, forget everything. The present will never say goodbye to us and the things we love...

Erhai Lake is very beautiful. If Erhai Lake is the Milky Way, then Xizhou Ancient Town, Haishe Park, Shuanglang, Wase, and Xiaoputuo are shining like stars in the Milky Way. The combination of Erhai Lake and Cangshan Mountain is really super beautiful. The jade belt clouds are lingering on Cangshan Mountain, and the lingering clouds make the mountains and waters very beautiful.

Xizhou Ancient Town allows us to have a deeper understanding of the four major families. Haishe is really like the tongue of the sea. The trees on the roadside, some dead and some alive, add a lot of different styles to Erhai Lake.

Shuanglang is like a pearl inlaid on Erhai Lake. Here you can face the sea and enjoy the blooming flowers in spring.

Xiao Putuo and the colors of the mountains are very beautiful. And this beauty needs us to explore and see it little by little.

The Erhai Lake that haunts my dreams...

I came to Dali once in 2014, but I didn't tour around Erhai Lake at that time. This time I came to Dali for a few days and rented an electric smart car to tour around the lake. Erhai Lake is still under renovation. Accommodation and catering in Shuanglang Town are closed, and some sections of the road are under repair. It is not very convenient, but the scenery along the way is still very beautiful and does not affect the fun. Before departure, I searched online and read other people's guides saying that some sections of the Erhai Lake road are under renovation, so I found a customized free travel guide on Taobao, which is more professional and detailed. In fact, there are beautiful scenery everywhere when you walk around Erhai Lake, but it takes some research to know where to take the most beautiful photos. After two trips around Erhai Lake, I have found some secrets for taking photos.

Walking towards Shuanglang, you will see a sea of ​​flowers. When you walk in, you will see many inverted boats. This is a must-see attraction for travel photography.

There were some great photo spots on the west bank, such as the trees in the water, but now they are no longer possible to photograph. Therefore, it is recommended that you spend more time and energy on the east bank of Erhai Lake.

If I had to say where I liked best during this trip, it would be Erhai Lake.

I still remember the first time I saw the West Lake in Hangzhou, I was amazed that the lake was so big that I couldn't see the other side when standing on the shore. Now I see Erhai Lake, which is much bigger than the West Lake in Hangzhou, and it is completely worthy of its name of sea.

Touring Erhai Lake is already a very mature project in Dali. Just search and you will find a bunch of customized small groups for you to choose from.

On the quiet Erhai Lake, one or two small boats would occasionally pass by, and from time to time there would be the sound of waves hitting the shore; and the mountains in the distance had their outlines dyed red by the gradually rising sun.

But from the moment the sun jumped out from the mountain, the surging waves on the originally dark sea were illuminated by the sun with golden light, everything was so magnificent and breathtaking, time seemed to stand still, and the only sound was the excited heartbeat in my heart.

Wandering by the Erhai Lake, enjoying the sea breeze, watching the sun sink into the clouds bit by bit, I finally understood why so many people want to come to Erhai Lake to be in a daze and talk to their inner selves. At about six or seven o'clock, when the sun was about to set, we stopped again, watching the sun's brilliance gradually converge, the proud and dazzling light slowly became soft, shuttling between the Cangshan Mountain and the white clouds, "The armor shines towards the sun and the golden scales open" immediately came to my mind, very appropriate! The poet must have seen so many great rivers and sunrises and sunsets to write such popular poems, like poems, paintings, and dreams.

You must go around Erhai Lake. Each place has different scenery. Don't listen to people who say that there is nothing to see in a certain place and just go around half a circle. It is not recommended to ride a bicycle around the lake for more than 100 kilometers. The wind is strong and the journey is too long. If the weather is not cold, it is best to rent a motorcycle. The wind is refreshing, and it is easy to park if you want to take pictures of the beautiful scenery. Motorcycles can be rented in Dali Ancient Town. I think it is 150 a day, which seems to be more expensive than renting a smart car. You need an E license to drive a motorcycle. But motorcycles have their own fun. Don't rent an electric car. It is said that you can go around the lake. It is very slow at the back. I saw several cars on the road. They were slow and leisurely. I was afraid that I would have to go until dark, and I didn't know if they had enough electricity. It took 6 hours to go around the lake. The rental shop closed in the evening. I was in a hurry to return the car and there was no time to play. After walking around, the lake has different scenery from different angles, and Cangshan Mountain has different scenery from different angles.

The roads in the village are very narrow, all one-way, but two-way. If you catch a car coming, it will be very difficult to miss it. No wonder people ride scooters around Erhai Lake, as only scooters can pass this width... It was quite exciting to see Erhai Lake up close for the first time, it really felt beautiful~~

I asked Taozi from the B&B, and she said that if you drive around Erhai Lake, it is recommended to take Dali Road. Huanhai West Road is a small road and difficult to drive. The Dali Line is full of crops and green.

TIPS: The ultraviolet rays and wind are very strong. Forget about riding a bicycle, as it will make you tired. Riding a scooter is much cooler. The route around Erhai Lake is divided into the east route and the west route. The west route has more farmland and villages, while the east route is pure roads and mountains. The west route is under construction now, so it is not easy to travel. If you want to circle the entire Erhai Lake, stay in Shuanglang for a day.

I don't know what I went through. I drove through the ancient city road that was shaking all over, and also drove through the main road with a lot of cars but difficult to wait for the traffic lights. I passed through a small village, and turned around to the other side when I arrived at the Caicun Wharf that was under repair. Then I unexpectedly drove to a flat road.

There were many strawberry gardens and flower fields nearby, and we saw many little sheep stopping there, so we stopped too.

Then there was a frenzy of photo taking.

I feel that as long as it is not backlit, it will look good no matter how you take it. What kind of magical existence is Erhai Lake? It is really beautiful.

The protection campaign for Erhai Lake is still underway, with demolitions taking place everywhere, especially in the western section. The road around the lake is intermittent and requires a detour from other places.

There is an excavator demolishing a house, with the endless beautiful Erhai Lake behind it. It makes me feel bad looking at this scene.

Due to the demolition around the lake, many scenic spots along the Erhai Lake have been closed or disappeared, but the roadside scenery is still there.

To be honest, my first impression of Erhai Lake was quite disappointing. The road around the lake is very narrow, and there are many people in Haixi. It is not as quiet as Lugu Lake, and the water is not as clear as Lugu Lake, and the scenery is not as good as Lugu Lake (hahaha, maybe I like Lugu Lake too much). But I still spent a lot of time taking pictures of red-billed gulls and Gesang flowers, hahaha.

The driver took us to a place he thought was beautiful by the Erhai Lake, so we followed him. We didn't need tickets. Of all the places we visited that day, only the Erhai Lake didn't need a gate. Because I saw the beautiful withered vines by the Erhai Lake, I liked them very much. I wanted to go there, but found that they were closed. The driver surprisingly took us through a small path. The path passed through a forest and we came to the withered vines that we had been thinking about and took a photo... The withered vines were very beautiful, but there were not many good photos. The sun was too glaring and I couldn't open my eyes... I didn't take any more photos after that. I just had fun in the water. It was so fun. Later, I saw the panoramic view of Erhai Lake on the train. It was really beautiful.

Start from West Huanhai Road. As it turned out, West Huanhai Road was not built close to Erhai Lake. Only a few places can go through the woods to the beach. Moreover, the whole road is under repair. Many houses nearby are demolished. The road condition is very bad. There are many dirt roads. There is a section where there is no road and I drove into the village road. I almost couldn’t get out. East Road is better. There is a place to park by the sea... On West Road, I saw those Internet celebrity photo props. You can take photos for 10 yuan. It is the kind of glass hanging chair. But it’s embarrassing. This prop is on the side of the road. There is a lot of dust and people coming and going. I am embarrassed to put on an expression of enjoyment.

Teacher Wu was dreaming of going to a coffee shop by the Erhai Lake to drink coffee and enjoy the "sea breeze". Unfortunately, this year, all the inns along the coast were demolished to protect the Erhai Lake, and Teacher Wu's dream was shattered. We still took a taxi and found a random beach to enjoy the breeze by the Erhai Lake. I just watched the sea quietly without saying a word. Although the wish of the beach and coffee was not realized, everyone still spent some time by the beach.

We walked through the village and alleys, following the map without using the navigation, and turned into Haiyan West Road. This is a mottled and slightly broken road, and we basically didn't see any fellow travelers along the way. But it also allowed us to walk into a real community of traditional Bai people's houses. However, the rugged road slowed us down and allowed us to feel Erhai Lake more carefully.

In December, a large number of red-billed gulls migrated to Dali. After two villagers' children threw snacks, many red-billed gulls took off. It was beautiful ~ the same color as the sea and sky of Erhai Lake. There are many wetlands on the roadside. Be sure to pay attention to safety while taking pictures.

Booked a battery car on Alitrip in advance (confirmed that it can carry people + can travel around Erhai Lake + rental time)

We rented an electric car from 8:30 to 20:30. The electric car will be delivered to the inn at 8:30, and the owner will pick it up when we go back and send the location in the evening.

Depart at 10:30 in the morning and complete the journey at 19:30 in the evening.

1. Ride an electric scooter slowly, especially on gravel roads, as it is easy to fall. Someone in front of us fell and broke his hand, and the scooter was also damaged. Safety comes first.

2. Keep warm, the Xiaguan wind is really as good as it is said to be. The rocks in the second half are beautiful, but it is so cold that I don’t want to get off the bus.

Since it was the off-season when we went there, there were many road construction sites from Dali Ancient Town to Xizhou. There were about three times when the road was blocked by the Erhai Lake, and we had to go back to find another way, or take a big detour to get out.



There are many people at the popular scenic spots in Erhai Lake. If you want to take big pictures, you can drive and stop along the way. There are often many aunties selling products at those famous stopovers, or a lot of shooting props, but it does not affect the viewing experience.



What impressed me most was a point with many boats, and Shuanglang and Xiaoputuo. These three sections were more beautiful.

Erhai Lake is not like Lugu Lake, which has a natural sapphire shape. At first glance, Erhai Lake is quite ordinary, similar to the lakes in the countryside when we were young. It may be that Erhai Lake is more famous and has many popular attractions.

Erhai Lake is very suitable for self-driving and walking around the lake. There are many small towns around it. If you want to have an in-depth tour, you can walk around and visit various small towns.

I was really impressed by Erhai Lake, because it is really beautiful and blue, especially for a blue lover like me, you can see "the sea and the sky are one color", and the water of Erhai Lake is very clear, you can take photos with mirror symmetry everywhere. It is about 120 kilometers to circle Erhai Lake. Since we stayed in each place for a long time, we only went around 1/3 of the circle in the end. The remaining 2/3 can only be left for another time.

Erhai Lake gives people a very relaxing and peaceful feeling. Compared with the ancient city I visited later, I personally prefer the leisure of Erhai Lake. Besides, taking photos by the Erhai Lake is really not ugly no matter how you take them, because Erhai Lake is really so beautiful.

I really love the beautiful scenery along the Erhai Lake. After taking a one-day tour around the sea in August last year, I have been thinking about it ever since.

After reading the travel notes of everyone and Buzz, I summarized a route around the sea, starting from Haixi and ending in Haidong (originally I planned to go once clockwise and once counterclockwise).

It is more favorable for drivers to drive to Haixi first and then Haidong, so that the sun is always behind and will not shine directly on them. Many jeep teams like to drive to Haidong first and then Haixi, facing the sun and moving forward...

But watching the sunrise in Haidong (especially Erhai Lake Park) in the morning is really beautiful, with a wide view...

Passing by Erhai Lake, all you see is water. The water of Erhai Lake is not like a lake. It is deep blue with no bottom in sight and no end, just like the vast ocean. There are nothing but trees on the seashore. The frost of the years has peeled off the bark, and the drooping green branches are long, floating in the wind and buried in the water. Even their dead bodies are quiet and sinking in waves, accompanying them day and night, forever.

Along the way, we saw many hotels with glass ball shooting props. We even climbed to the roof of a hotel that was not open yet, but the shooting effect was not ideal because there were too many obstructions, railings, etc. I wanted to give up, but I accidentally saw a shooting spot on the roadside, so I stopped the car immediately and changed clothes directly in the car. Because it was close to the seaside, the effect of the photo was invincible. It only cost 15 yuan, and I got the glass ball, the sky mirror, and the white table. I was so happy!

I personally feel that Dali has only one scenic spot - Erhai Lake. You will have different feelings when you see Erhai Lake in different seasons, different time periods, different locations, different heights and different weather.

When you go to Dali, you must go around the lake at least once. You can drive, ride an electric bike, or ride a bicycle. Drive counterclockwise and ride clockwise. When renting a car to go around the lake, you should choose a brightly colored car. The more stylish the car, the better. Cars can be used as good photography props.

I personally prefer the East Ring Road. You can enjoy the night view of Dali. You can see the Dali Ancient City, Chongsheng Three Pagodas, Cangshan Mountain, etc. The East Ring Road allows you to get close to Erhai Lake and see it unobstructed. The East Ring Road has undulating terrain and is not suitable for cycling.

The terrain of Huanhu West Road is flat and suitable for cycling. However, many sections of the road are under construction and difficult to travel. Huanhai West Road passes through many villages. Many places on Huanhai West Road are blocked by trees, reeds, etc. In order to protect Erhai Lake, guardrails have been erected in many places on Huanhu West Road, and many illegal buildings are being demolished.

You need to make good arrangements and control the pace according to your time. I drove around the lake, starting from Jinsuo Island and it took 8 hours to reach Shuanglang. I just passed by many places in a hurry. The next day, I walked a section of Huanhai West Road again.

To be honest, the scenery of Erhai Lake itself is slightly above average, but Yunnan also has a specialty - blue sky and white clouds. Erhai Lake with blue sky and white clouds is extremely beautiful.

Erhai Lake is very beautiful, the wind here is warm, not as sticky as the sea breeze, very comfortable. Whether you live in Shuanglang or Xizhou, the geographical location is very good and you don't have to worry about it. We stayed in Xizhou i, rented an electric car from Xizhou to Erhai Lake, and you can see the scenery around Erhai Lake along the way. It was the most impressive and pleasant experience of this trip.

The bright sunshine shines through the clouds and illuminates the Erhai Lake. It is so beautiful. The surface of the Erhai Lake is very flat and transparent. Due to the high altitude of Yunnan, the clouds in the sky are very low. The blue sky and white clouds reflected on the water surface really look like a pure fairyland. People like us who are used to seeing the real sea are amazed. The sea is vast and majestic, and the Erhai Lake is quiet and pure.

We couldn't help but sigh how lucky we were to have good weather on a rainy day, which allowed us to see the beauty of Erhai Lake. However, after noon, the weather changed, with wind and rain. However, we had no way to retreat halfway through the ride, so we had to put on a thin raincoat and go forward in the rain. Erhai Lake is not beautiful on a rainy day, and it looks gray. It is recommended that if you plan to ride around Erhai Lake, you must choose a sunny day, otherwise you will suffer. In addition, the ride time is very long and may be very tiring. You can choose to stay in Shuanglang in the middle and go around Erhai Lake in two days. My legs are almost crippled after sitting on the back of the electric bike for a day.

The most famous photo backdrops at the Erhai Lake are the white tables and glass balls. It seems that if you don’t take photos here, you have never been there, so I couldn’t help but check in here. The owner of the photography base is also very good at doing business. He rented this excellent viewing spot, arranged some props, charged a site fee, and thoughtfully prepared a variety of skirts (mostly red and white long skirts) for rental. I spent a total of 80 yuan for taking photos here (site fee 50 + renting clothes 30)

The pastoral scenery along the way. The last time I came here was in October. The beautiful autumn scenery is still vivid in my mind and unforgettable.

Cangshan Mountain, Erhai Lake, blue sky and white clouds are still as beautiful as I remember. Cycling is more free than driving, you can stop and go at any time without worrying about parking.

Along the way, we saw quite a few closed sea view hotels. There were also a few flower fields that charged admission, but it wasn't the flower season so there wasn't much to see.

There are many popular photo spots along the Erhai Lake, including colorful jeeps, glass ball swings, etc. The fee is 10 yuan. We took a few (dozen) photos there, haha. Then we walked along the lake, stopping and starting. Many people were taking wedding photos. The lake was very clear, and the wind blew up layers of ripples. Many seagulls flew in from time to time. After walking along the lake for a while, we found a very beautiful scenery. The lake was shallow, and the stones at the bottom of the lake could be seen. Some plants similar to water plants were washed to the shore, forming a thick layer. Several dead trees of different shapes stood far away, giving a sense of quietness and loneliness. Just looking at the distance quietly, listening to the sound of the waves, and being in a daze for a while is a very happy thing.

The beauty of Dali is really half in Erhai Lake. What is special is that in the shallow waters on both sides of the shore, there are many dead trees standing in the water, half dead trees, like broken walls, and some kind of relics, and the mirror image in the water is its curved phantom. On the side of Erhai Lake, the trees are twisted and crouched, with strange branches and trunks, and the water surface is glittering. The empty scene is deep and quiet, like entering a dream, real and illusory, confusing, reminiscent of the Spanish magic movie "Pan's Labyrinth".

On the way back, the sun stretched my shadow long, and the golden color covered my whole body, giving me the feeling of the setting sun sending me home. Looking out, the sun was setting, and the farmland under the Cangshan Mountain was half bright and half dark. Farmers were walking on the long ridges of the fields, which was like Tao Yuanming's "getting up early to clean up the wasteland, and returning home with hoes in the moonlight", but returning in the setting sun.

Erhai Lake is divided into Haixi and Haidong. If you travel around Erhai Lake, it is recommended to start from Haixi in the morning, go to Xizhou, Shuanglang, and then to Haidong, and finally go to Wasee to watch the sunset, so that all the scenery lighting will be more scientific.

The Erhai Lake in the morning is like a piece of blue cloth. The Cangshan Mountain in the distance has just turned white, forming a picture of sea and sky being one color with the Erhai Lake.

Looking down from the air, Erhai Lake looks like a crescent-shaped jade mirror inlaid between Cangshan Mountain and Dali Basin, and is affectionately called the "Golden Moon" by the locals. The water and the sky are one color! If I have the chance to come again, I want to sit by the Erhai Lake, wait for the moon to rise, and enjoy the "Erhai Moon" where "it is hard to tell whether it is the moon falling into the sea or the moon rising from the sea". The roadside of Erhai Lake seems to be a wedding photography shooting spot, and the shooting teams can be seen everywhere.
