Nanping Pedestrian Street

Nanping Street is the oldest commercial street in Kunming's history and the financial, commercial and entertainment center of Kunming in the old days. The 40,000 square meters of urban leisure and entertainment space has ground reliefs, dry fountains and street leisure benches with Kunming folk column bases. In addition, there are five groups of scene sculptures that show the folk customs of old Kunming, namely "walking the bird", "carrying water", "taking pictures", "selling and shouting", and "jumping into the sea". At night, we could only visit the last place in Kunming, which is Nanping Street. On the one hand, we could take a last look at the night view of Kunming, and on the other hand, we could taste Kunming’s snacks (Xiangyun Food City). After all, we had to leave here early the next day, and we didn’t know when we would come to Yunnan next time.

It might be the Spring Festival, there were people everywhere, and I had to queue up to find food. I didn’t feel the atmosphere of the ancient commercial street. At first I thought I was in the wrong place, but I saw the sign and checked in. On the way back, I didn’t feel like shopping, so I took the subway one stop back to my residence.

Most of the shops on Nanping Street have closed. It’s a typical pedestrian street. In China, the models are all similar. They are all the same, but they never deviate from the norm. It’s really a bit boring.

There are still some characteristics, but they are not obvious. You need to experience them yourself.

After sleeping for almost a day and a night, Bubble and I finally became energetic again.

I was clamoring to go downtown to eat rice noodles, and Paopao also happened to want to buy a coat, so we hit it off and set off right away.

The last time I came to Kunming, there was no subway. Now there are three lines: 1, 2 and 6. Line 3 will be opened soon, making travel much more convenient.

However, the Dongfeng Square station in the center of Kunming is still a long way from the old street (I don’t know if a closer station will be built in the future), so we changed to shared bicycles after getting off the subway. Kunming is a city of spring, and it is pleasant to ride a bicycle in a mild weather.

When you get to Nanping Street, you can’t ride a bike anymore and you can only walk.

I went to eat the Qiaoxiangyuan Cross-Bridge Rice Noodles and Steamed Pot Chicken that I had been craving for. Every time I come here, I have to listen to Paopao tell the story of how the two owners of this restaurant turned against each other and split up.

After dinner, we went shopping in the mall. I was so excited when I passed by the Yunnan Baiyao store.

Isn't this called Jinma Bijifang? It's a pedestrian shopping street like an ancient street. However, I didn't find anything good to buy. It's different from the shopping ancient towns in other cities. In the end, I didn't buy anything.

It is very lively here. You can visit here for sightseeing, taking photos and shopping during the day. At night, there will be many vendors setting up stalls, selling all kinds of delicious snacks, including barbecue, rice noodles, casserole, stinky tofu, malatang, etc.

Nanping Street is bustling with delicious restaurants. As a foodie, I really like this place.

We still had some extra time, so we took a bus to Kunming's commercial center, Nanping Street, and wandered around. In fact, the commercial streets in various places are similar, and there's nothing much to see.

It's not really a food street and there aren't many food stalls and they don't taste good.

Nanping Street is actually Beijing Road in Guangzhou, which is not interesting for people coming from big cities.

Take bus No. 1 to Nanping Street. The streets are full of lanterns. The Chinese New Year is a festive occasion. There is an alley in Nanping Street with many shops selling jade and many food items worth visiting. When we went there, the locals pointed us to a big shopping mall. After eating, we found many snacks hidden in the alleys. We must walk around more.

We had dinner at Nanping Street Snack Street. This snack street is made up of small outdoor stalls. It is not as scammy as Wangfujing Snack Street in Beijing. The prices are cheap and the taste is very good.

When asked about shopping in Kunming, the first thing people recommend is Nanping Street, which is not bad.

Nanping Street is the center of Kunming. Even if you don't like crowds, you still have to go there. Step on the smooth stone pavement and touch the bronze statues standing on both sides of the road.

I insisted on buying the grilled tofu, but they both refused to buy it. In fact, it seemed that it really didn't taste good.

The roasted pig's trotters look tempting, but they don't taste as good as you might think.

Go to a late night street to eat barbecue (I think it's called [Nanping Street])

The barbecue here is sold in portions. The meat is about 18 yuan per portion and the portion is quite large.

Nanping Pedestrian Street, with the tunnel underneath, is now the commercial center of Kunming. The New Kunming Cinema, Carrefour, Watsons, the new department store, Suning, Parkson, and the snack street are all in this area. It is my favorite place!
