The school had an event at the old campus of Yunnan University, so I stopped by Yunnan University today to check in. I think Yunnan University is a good place for taking photos, and the architecture in the style of the Republic of China is very beautiful.

There are many snack shops nearby after leaving the school. I recommend Mori San Ramen. Their thick soup ramen is super delicious, and you can get more noodles for free.

We also visited the old campus of Yunnan Normal University nearby.

Exiting from the north gate of Cuihu Park in downtown Kunming, you will arrive at Yunnan University. This is the main campus of Yunnan University, which was founded in December 1922. Its original name was "Private Donglu University" in its early days. So it is not unreasonable to call this old campus of Yunnan University "Donglu Park". "Studying in Donglu Park, watching the wind, flowers, snow and moon pass by in four seasons with a smile, and looking coldly at the reality of a materialistic society."

After exiting Xicang Lane, walk along Qianju Street and turn to Wenlin Street, then walk for about 10 minutes to reach Yunnan University.

Yunnan University, formerly known as Private Donglu University, was founded in December 1922. It was renamed Provincial Yunnan University in 1934 and National Yunnan University in 1938. It is one of the first batch of universities in China to be key construction projects of the 211 Project, and is also a key construction university in western China and a university jointly built by the province and the ministry.

Walk out of Cuihu Park from the north gate, turn left and walk to "Cuihu North Road", then walk a little to the right and you will reach "Yunnan University". The south gate is very low-key with only a plaque. Enter the park and climb the stairs to see a small pond with many goldfish in it.

Going up is the landmark building of Yunnan University: Huize Courtyard, the outer wall of which is mostly made of red bricks, with several Roman columns in front of the main entrance and a large lawn behind. Because we can't go in to visit, we can only observe the interior space from the side door. The first floor is covered with tiles and there are white walls on both sides. There are two European-style arc-shaped plaster arches in the corridor. The overall look is very simple and elegant.

Walking from "Lingyun Road" to "Gutong Road" and finally turning to "Gingko Road", I saw many tourists stopping to look at a tree. When I got closer, I found that it was a squirrel hanging upside down on the bottom of the tree. I have seen squirrels dodging on trees when they see tourists before, but this squirrel was not afraid of tourists at all, instead it ate the snacks in the tourists' hands.

Going further ahead is a cement playground, and looking into the distance is an old-style auditorium. After passing the playground, turn right and there is a small path on the left, which is the first cafeteria of Yunnan University. A glance through the window shows that all the food is appetizing. Since we had lunch late, we did not choose to have dinner here.

The old campus on Yieryi Street is worth a visit. It is a very beautiful campus with distinctive buildings. The beauty of Yunnan University is created by architecture, plants and humanities. Formerly known as Private Donglu University, it was founded in 1922. Strolling in this century-old campus, you can see old buildings everywhere, such as Huize Courtyard, Zhigong Hall, Zeqiu Hall, Yingqiu Courtyard, Donghaoshe... Each building has its own story. Walking into the campus from the gate of Yunnan University, after just a few steps, you will see tall and steep stairs in front of you. Some people say that there are 95 steps in total, and the founder of the school used it to symbolize his "supreme" status in Yunnan University.

The clouds, sunlight, tree shadows and lawns attracted my attention. Bathed in the fragrance of the grass and the warm winter sun, I wanted to find a chair anywhere to sit down and enjoy this rare scene.

On one side of Cuihu Park is the entrance to Yunnan University. Going up the stairs, you will see a building in the style of the Republic of China.

The afternoon sun shines through the ancient buildings, creating a harmonious and peaceful beauty, making the ups and downs of the old times looming and inviting people to stop and take pictures. Although it is late autumn, there are still many girls wearing thin clothes from the Republic of China, changing their poses in front of the camera.

Continuing to walk further into the campus, the sun gradually set, and the angle of light changed at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Finally, I saw a golden color in the distance. I couldn't tell whether it was the color of the afterglow or the true color of the leaves. I just felt the light of a tree in front of me. It was Ginkgo Avenue. Almost all the tourists gathered here. The ginkgo trees were still the same ginkgo trees, and there was no essential difference from those in Beijing and Xi'an.

TIPS: Cuihu Park is very close to Yunnan University, about ten minutes' walk away; Yunnan University has no access control, but cars are not allowed in some places; you can see little squirrels in the ginkgo forest, and there are a lot of children feeding them; the various archways on Yunnan University's buildings are very tall; if you take a taxi from the north gate of Donglu Campus, remember to cross the overpass to the gate of the other campus to wait for the taxi, as many lanes in Kunming are one-way.

Yunnan University is still very impressive. Although the facade is not big, the archways are super tall. We went to the Donglu campus, which is closer from Cuihu Park; the other campus is not far away, just across the road, and you can reach it by walking on the pedestrian bridge.

I originally wanted to cross the Yunnan University Donglu Campus and then go to another campus. But I stayed in the ginkgo forest for a long time, so I just took a Didi and left.

Later, we walked to the Biology Building, where the Ginkgo Forest is. Although it is winter, the scenery here is a bit monotonous. But you can still see a lot of fallen ginkgo trees, which are golden all over the ground and super beautiful. If it is the right season, it will definitely be super beautiful.

I had heard that Yunnan University was very beautiful, so I came here because of its reputation. However, the road from Dianchi Lake to Yunnan University was jammed because it passed through Cuihu Lake and it happened to be the weekend. I couldn't find a parking place when I arrived at Yunnan University, so I drove around it twice. The car was parked far away, and I walked slowly along the railway track. My favorite Huize Courtyard is a French-style building, which was completed in 1924. Although the bell tower has no special features, it is the landmark building of Yunnan University after all, so I must take a picture of it. The yellow ginkgo trees of Yunnan University attracted a large number of tourists, and it was crowded. People who have been to Tengchong Ginkgo Village said that they didn't want to go through the hustle and bustle, so they decided to find another way.

There are three platforms designed from the ground to the entrance of the building. The trail is named "Shenglong Road" and has a total of 95 steps. It does not lead directly to the building but has a slight turn, which implies that a dragon is flying in the sky.

I happened to meet some Yunnan University students wearing ethnic minority costumes taking photos on the "Thang Long Road".

Jiayan Restaurant is located diagonally opposite Yunnan University and next to Cuihu Park. It was rebuilt from the former residence of Yuan Jiagu, the top scholar in the imperial examination in the Qing Dynasty.

Like many universities, Yunnan University also gives people a quaint first impression. I saw on Weibo that the ginkgo forest and squirrels are the biggest attractions when visiting Yunnan University this season, so I went there. The entire ginkgo forest is about 300 to 400 meters long. Maybe because of the temperature, the leaves are half yellow and half green, but there are still many tourists taking photos, and some taking wedding photos. The ginkgo path is very lively. I also encountered a cute little squirrel. A child fed it with melon seeds. It carefully took the food, climbed up to a high place to eat it, and then climbed down to wait for tourists to feed it.

This time I visited the old campus of Yunnan University. Generally speaking, the horticultural landscape in the university is really unique, and it can even be said to be like a large plant viewing garden. When I was playing, I happened to catch the gardeners watering the plants. The sunlight shining through the bright sky formed one or two rainbows, which was so beautiful~

This is where several great men have stayed. There is also a monument to martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country. The buildings of the Republic of China have a unique view. The school is open to the public, so tourists have already regarded this place as a must-visit place for Kunming tourism. If family and friends can chat, sketch, and take photos, this is the best choice.

A special reminder: there is only one public toilet in the campus, not far from the east gate, which is a brick-red building. Don’t waste time trying to go to a teaching building to relieve yourself, because you cannot enter any building without a student card or a pass, so don’t go to the wrong building, remember!

As soon as I entered Yunnan University, I was first attracted by the row of tall stairs in front of its gate. The stone stairs have traces of time. Because it just rained, the smoothed parts on the outside are still a bit slippery. After walking up the stairs, there is a different kind of ancient building. I don’t remember its predecessor and its current use. I just feel that even though the building is quite old, it still has its own unique flavor and beauty. From the stairs to this old house, it happens to be the place where most people take photos and take pictures. I guess Yunnan University must be a famous university among the Internet celebrities.

Walking to one side of the building, through the iron gate on the side, you can vaguely see the warm yellow lights in the building. In an instant, the building becomes so vivid and full of vitality, which makes people feel incredible. Then we wandered and unlocked without a purpose. We met many tourists of all ages who came to admire and reminisce about college time like us. We saw boys and girls rehearsing dances and choruses in the square, heard melodious and slow piano sounds from the windows on the first floor of the teaching building, as well as the birds singing in the bushes, and the laughter on the playground... Because I didn't make a guide, I didn't know where to go after walking for a while, and it felt so big inside that my feet hurt. I asked a grandma passing by what was good to see inside. The grandma's answer can be scored 100 points, and she looks very elegant. The grandma said: I can't say that it's beautiful, but some buildings have a certain history. Look at the red house, it was built by Soviet experts and has a history of more than 100 years. Going up is Yingqiu Garden, which was built by Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin. Tourists and students walk by here, and there is a breeze, and golden leaves fall. Ginkgo Avenue is located on the main campus of Yunnan University. The densely covered area of ​​ginkgo is about 200 meters long, extending from Wenyuan Building to Huize Courtyard, and the distance between trees is not wide. Ginkgo Avenue is close to the basketball court. Boys are sweating profusely, and there are also beauties who are intoxicated and taking selfies. The ginkgo trunks on the side of the avenue are flourishing and the branches are lush, tightly covering the sky, appearing dense and heavy.

Yunnan University is next to Cuihu Park (No. 2 Cuihu North Road). It was the Gongyuan in Yunnan during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and the place where the imperial examinations were held (Zhigongtang, etc. are now preserved). Its predecessor was the private Donglu University founded by Tang Jiyao, then governor of Yunnan Province, in 1922 (Huize Building, etc. are now preserved), and later changed to Yunnan University (1938). The school uses bells as the bell for classes. The featured majors are ethnology, biology, characteristic resource development and environmental protection, as well as border issues and international issues in Southeast Asia and South Asia.
