Located in the northwest of Lijiang Ancient Town, surrounded by mountains and rivers, it is quieter and more ancient than Dayan Ancient Town.
The mountain behind the ancient town is the remnant of Yulong Snow Mountain, with green and lingering mountains and lush forests.
The Dashiqiao and Dajue Palace in the town are well preserved, and the murals depict Buddhist figures.
It is an important part of the World Cultural Heritage Lijiang Ancient Town and was selected as one of CCTV's "Charming Towns in China" in 2005.

Friends who have come to Lijiang will always feel a little regretful if they don't go to Shuhe. In 2016, there was no entrance fee to the ancient town. I don't know how it is now. I like it very much. The day before leaving the ancient town, I didn't know what I ate and had severe diarrhea. It was so serious that I went to the only clinic in the ancient town to get an IV drip. I also bought one of the medicines recommended by the doctor, montmorillonite powder. I swear, I will never take that medicine again!
Shuhe Ancient Town, called "Shaowu" in Naxi language, was named after the Jubao Mountain behind the village, which looks like a pile of peaks. The name was later mutated to mean "the village under the peak". It is one of the earliest settlements of Naxi ancestors in the Lijiang basin and an important and well-preserved market town on the Ancient Tea-Horse Road.
It is also a living specimen of the Naxi ancestors' transition from agricultural civilization to commercial civilization, and a model of market town construction formed by opening up to the outside world and horse caravan activities. Shuhe is an important part of the World Cultural Heritage Lijiang Ancient Town and was selected as one of CCTV's "Charming Towns in China" in 2005.
Shuhe Ancient Town is located at 26 degrees 55 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees 12 minutes east longitude. Shuhe Ancient Town is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with houses scattered in an orderly manner, facing the fields and fields; overlooking Yulong in the north, Xiangshan and Wenbi in the southeast, the scenery changes in four seasons, especially the two springs at the head of the village, one of which is called "Jiuding Dragon Pond", also known as "Longquan". It is the core of all scenic spots in Lijiang and the hub for visiting Lijiang Ancient Town, Yulong Snow Mountain, Lugu Lake, the First Bay of the Yangtze River and the Three Parallel Rivers Scenic Area.
Going north from Lijiang Ancient Town, along the main road on the east side of Zhongjihai Lake for about four kilometers, you will see a dense village at the foot of the mountains on both sides. This is Shuhe Ancient Town, known as the hometown of clear springs. When Xu Xiake visited Zhishan Jietuo Forest, he walked this road. In his account, he wrote: "Crossing a dry stream stone bridge, looking west to Zhonghai Lake, willows and waves, there is a large settlement on it, this is Shiheyuan." "Shihe" is the ancient name of today's Shuhe Ancient Town. History The Tea Horse Road opened in the Tang Dynasty, from southern Yunnan through Lijiang to Lhasa, Tibet, and operated and developed for more than a thousand years in the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, promoting economic and cultural exchanges among people of all ethnic groups along the route. Shuhe is a well-preserved post station in the Lijiang Basin. It was listed as an important part of the Lijiang Ancient Town as a "World Cultural Heritage" in 1997.
Entering Shuhe Village, you can go directly to the Shuhe Central Market, where you will have a sense of déjà vu. This is a square similar to the Sifang Street in the ancient city of Dayan Town, with an area of about 250 square meters, also known as Shuhe Sifang Street. It is extremely lively on market days and was once the distribution center of Lijiang fur trading. The square is surrounded by shops, with old wooden facades and dark red paint. There are also black and shiny bluestone in front of the store, mottled stone slope pavement under your feet, and old people sitting idle, outlining the simple and natural nature of Shuhe. Standing in the center of the square, you observe and experience carefully. The Sifang Street in the ancient city of Dayan is a complete replica of Shuhe. The Naxi people have gone from nomadism to farming and then to the city. You can find some traces here. Walk 100 meters north along Shuhe Street and you will find the source of the stream, "Jiuding Longtan". The water in the pond is transparent and clear, and springs gushing day and night. Shuhe people regard it as a sacred spring, so Longquan Temple was built. The furnishings in the temple are no different from those of other temples in the ancient city. However, there is a "Three Saints Palace" pavilion in a corner near the source of the water. It is a traditional courtyard house, where the ancestor of leatherworkers is enshrined.
Eight Scenic Spots of Shuhe
Night market fireflies, Longmen moon view, snow-capped mountains reflected, broken monuments knocking
Fish and water relatives Xishan red leaf stone lotus night talk smoke willow flat bridge
The streets of the ancient town are arranged in a relatively neat pattern, mostly in a cross pattern, so it is not easy to get lost. There is also a "Sifang Street" square similar to the ancient town of Dayan Town, with an area of about 250 square meters. It was once the distribution center of Lijiang's fur trade. The square is surrounded by shops, with old wooden facades and dark red paint. The black and shiny bluestone in front of the store, the mottled stone slope road under your feet, and the old man sitting in front of the homestay outline the quaint and natural nature of Shuhe. Compared with Dayan Ancient Town, the price of this ancient town is relatively cheaper.
Compared with Dali Ancient Town and Lijiang Ancient Town, Shuhe Ancient Town is the most interesting one in my opinion. It not only has local characteristic buildings and folk culture, but also has mountains and rivers. Moreover, the commercial atmosphere of Shuhe Ancient Town is not as strong as other ancient towns. It is worth a visit.
Also, if you want to braid your hair in five colors, I suggest you go to Shuhe Ancient Town to do it, because it is cheaper, only one yuan per braid. Last year, I only had five braids for 10 yuan in Dali Ancient Town. If you want to buy hair flowers, you can also buy them here. The price quoted by the aunties is usually 15 to 20 yuan per piece. Remember to bargain. You can buy it for 5 yuan, because there are so many aunties selling flowers.
There will be many local residents along the way who will invite you to ride horses and visit the ancient town. Personally, I think it is not necessary, because the entire ancient town is not very big, and riding horses will not take you to the innermost attractions. You will only walk around the main road and have fun. It will take about two hours to visit the entire Shuhe Ancient Town.
Follow the map and stroll slowly from the entrance, to Qinglong Bridge and then go inside to Sansheng Temple. There are beautiful scenery all the way, just stroll slowly.
Shuhe Ancient Town is not as famous as Dayan Ancient Town, so there are fewer tourists, and you can better experience the tranquility, comfort and leisure of the ancient town.
The time spent in Shuhe Ancient Town was so comfortable, and there was really a sense of peace and tranquility. Isn't this the life of people living by the small bridges and flowing water that many people imagine? Every place in the ancient town exudes comfort.
The prices of things in Shuhe Ancient Town are lower than those in Dayan Ancient Town, and you can bargain, so we bought flower cakes here.
Shuhe Ancient Town is located at 26 degrees 55 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees 12 minutes east longitude. Shuhe is not far from Dayan Ancient Town. I strongly requested to go to Shuhe. Teacher Shang had little interest at first, but after we got there, he was more excited than I was.
Shuhe Ancient Town is very quiet, especially the edge (the center is still busy). Maybe it was once prosperous and had many bars and shops, but it is not as good as Dayan Ancient Town, so many shops have closed down, which brings a special beauty to Shuhe. If you like to play quietly, this is more suitable. If you like literature and art, this is also more suitable.
It is said that compared with Lijiang Ancient Town, the biggest feature of Shuhe Ancient Town is that it has fewer people and is quieter... But isn't it too quiet... 2/3 of the shops in the ancient town are either closed or transferred, and there are less tourists than salespeople on the street... I am kind of glad that I didn't choose to live in Shuhe. It must be boring at night in such a quiet place, but people who like Shuhe probably like this quietness.
Today, Shuhe Ancient Town is deserted, and many shops are closed. I miss the bustle of Dali Ancient Town. People are never satisfied, they want the original flavor, but also want the bustle.
The sound of jingling and hammering could be heard from the ancient town; a master was making silver bracelets.
It was quiet, but after dinner I walked around for another two hours. I walked to Sifang Street and Bar Road. Now there are more and more bars and cafes in China that are Japanese-style and fresh.
At 2 or 3 o'clock in the afternoon, there were more tourists, shops opened one after another, and horse caravans went out to solicit customers everywhere.
There is no entrance fee at the north gate of Shuhe River. Some aunties sell apples, oranges and dried apples grown at home. They look ugly, but they are delicious. I bought a few apples and oranges, and some flower cakes at the entrance. They are one yuan each. Fortunately, I didn't buy too much. The rose smell is relatively light, so-so.
Shuhe Ancient Town is very quiet. The old grandfather was rolling cigarettes, and the children were watching curiously. There are many grandpas and grandmas leading horses and carriages in Shuhe Ancient Town. The tone of the whole ancient town is very comfortable. The old lady is a Naxi. She said she has been braiding hair here for more than ten years. She braided six braids in ten minutes. Haha, today is the Naxi color braiding girl. The grandmother is very talkative and kind. In the ancient town, you can also meet many aunts and grandmas holding colorful ropes to braid the braids of little girls~ I suggest you wear more colorful clothes when you come here to play. I was afraid of the cold and didn’t dare to take off my thick coat. I was all black, and it didn’t look good in photos. There are many small stalls selling fruits in the ancient town, such as Buddha’s hand, ginseng fruit, and water radish~
I knew that Shuhe would have fewer people and be quieter, but I didn't expect it to be so quiet. The streets were empty and only a few shops were open. I walked all the way to Shuhe's Sifang Street, which was only then a little lively. It was a stark contrast to Dayan Ancient Town tomorrow night.
It's a quiet town, and I like old teapots. Shuhe still has some old things. It is said that a big fire in Dayan a few years ago basically destroyed the old family property.
I don’t know whether next year’s northern royal style will be built in imitation of antiques or in accordance with modern people’s aesthetics. In any case, it is a bit incongruous to occasionally see this style in Yunnan, thousands of kilometers away from Beijing.
Most of the alleys are more than 1 meter wide, and the houses are wooden structures. The consequences of a big fire can be imagined, but according to the current fire protection regulations, the minimum spacing of 6 meters will not have this feeling. To be honest, there are fewer and fewer old houses, and they may be destroyed by fire one day.
Shuhe is even more deserted at night, only Sifang Street is a little popular, and it gradually becomes quiet after 8 o'clock. There are advantages to having fewer people, things are cheaper, and you can bargain. Dayan Ancient Town is crowded at night, and the boss still has time to bargain with you? It's good enough that he can pay attention to you. In contrast, Dayan Ancient Town has been completely commercialized, comparable to Hefang Street in Hangzhou.
Because it also has Sifang Street, Xiaoshi Bridge and Dashi Bridge, some people call it "Little Lijiang" and "a smaller version of Dayan". However, few people know that Shuhe Ancient Town actually has a longer history than Dayan Ancient Town. It was once a large village where Naxi people lived in the Lijiang basin, and it is also one of the important towns on the famous Ancient Tea-Horse Road.
Attractions tips:
Shuhe Ancient Town: There are fewer people. Compared with Dayan Ancient Town, Laohu feels more lively. There is room for bargaining when buying things. The commercialization is not as strong as Dayan. It is a good experience to ride a dwarf horse on the Ancient Tea Horse Road in the ancient town, which can be done for 120 yuan.
Some people say that the current Shuhe Ancient Town is the Dayan Ancient Town ten years ago. The basic structure of Shuhe is basically the same as Dayan Ancient Town, which is about one-third of Dayan Ancient Town. Enter the avenue from the south gate and walk straight to the central Sifang Street, then walk down through the bar street to Qinglong Bridge, and then walk down to Heilongtan, and behind it is the mountain. Halfway through Shuhe, it started to rain heavily. When taking shelter from the rain, it was rare to feel the tranquility of the ancient town flowing in time.
Chatting in the car, I learned that Lijiang Ancient Town is also commercialized like Dali Ancient Town. Shuhe Ancient Town is actually the most beautiful among the ancient towns. I didn't feel anything after hearing it, but when I really arrived in Shuhe, I found that everything was so beautiful. After walking for a while, I found a place to eat. Many restaurants here have guitar singing, music and flowers, everything is so beautiful. Flowers can be seen everywhere in the corners of Shuhe Ancient Town.
I happened to encounter a well-behaved and shy dog in Shuhe Ancient Town. This is the most authentic and beautiful appearance of Shuhe Ancient Town.
Shuhe Ancient Town has much fewer tourists than Dayan Ancient Town, so even at noon, there were not many tourists on the street. There was even a section of the road where there were only two of us, and the only sound was the clattering of the suitcase dragged on the stone road.
Just strolling along the street and occasionally turning into an alley, you can see different scenery.
There are many shops along the street, some selling tea, some selling silverware, various small gadgets, and many hand drum shops. Buy a hand drum and they will teach you how to play it. This is also the reason why many people criticize the ancient towns now, thinking that they have been developed too commercially. Every ancient town is similar. The things sold along the street are called local cultural specialties, but most of them can be found in other ancient towns. But I am still very interested in these things, so I walked around and bought some small souvenirs.
Shuhe Ancient Town is a place that has not been fully developed, and it is also the most leisurely time of this journey.
Time passed slowly, the vehicles moved slowly, everything moved slowly, and I slowed down my pace as well, almost completing my self-perception of the ancient town by pacing.
There is a big stage, and I happened to catch the 3 o'clock performance of Sifang Tingyin. Local residents played folk instruments, and the sound of bells jingling in the wind made it even more unique. This small town has Tibetan prayer wheels, a museum of the Ancient Tea Horse Road, and a serious horse-drawn carriage culture. It's really good to feel the feeling of riding a horse without having to go to Lashi Lake. In the bar street, hum a few songs with the resident singers, record a few videos, and enjoy the slow time comfortably.
When we arrived in Shuhe, the weather was gloomy. However, this did not affect our mood at all. Shuhe had more people than I had felt before, but it was still okay.
The night in Shuhe is not very lively, but not very deserted either. It is just right. We shuttled through the small streets and alleys, and it felt like we could take out treasures in every store.
A few kilometers away from Lijiang Old Town, there are fewer people here, it is quieter, more primitive, and feels very comfortable. It is more beautiful than the old town. Although it is mainly businesses, it is more quiet here and more suitable for a slow walk.
Last year it was free, but now it is free after 5:30pm. Actually you don't need to buy a ticket. I didn't know it the first time I went there, so I bought one. The ancient town is free, but there is a museum inside the ancient town that charges a fee, so people who don't know think it's the ancient town ticket, and the price also includes a chance to ride a battery car. We suffered a loss this time, and we came here again a few days later, and found an excuse that the car had to turn around to sneak in, hahahaha
Compared with Dayan Ancient Town, Shuhe Ancient Town is less commercialized, has a stronger ancient atmosphere, and has fewer tourists. Compared with the two, I prefer Shuhe Ancient Town, perhaps because of its simplicity, or perhaps because of its tranquility.
Dogs of all kinds can be seen everywhere in the ancient town. Whenever I see one, I stop to take a picture.
The ancient town at dusk is like a gentle and virtuous classical beauty. Every brick, every tile, every tree, every grass, every house and every eave is filled with a peaceful atmosphere.
Friends who have been to Yunnan recommended that I stay in Shuhe for a night before leaving, saying that it is not as commercialized as Lijiang and the accommodation fee is also cheap. However, due to my schedule, I did not make that arrangement this time.
The inns in Shuhe are next to each other, and almost every one of them has bougainvillea in full bloom in front of the door, and succulent plants grow in patches in the yard. The quaint guest rooms with a strong Naxi style are reflected in the warm sunshine, which is so beautiful that it makes people unable to move.
It is a miniature version of Lijiang Ancient Town. Walking in the ancient town, there are horse-drawn carriages passing by for tourists to ride for a fee, and you can also ride horses. Entering many stores to buy souvenirs, the clerks are enthusiastic to introduce the items, but some of the clerks immediately change their attitude when they hear that we don’t buy. They either ignore us directly or mutter something I don’t understand. I met three or four such clerks in Shuhe, especially the one selling flower tea, whose face left a deep impression on me. If there is a rule that you have to buy something every time you enter a store, wouldn’t we just go shopping on Taobao? The scenery of Jiuding Longtan is average.
Shuhe Ancient Town is the same as Dayan Ancient Town. There is also a Sifang Street in the center of the town. The area around Sifang Street is also the most lively place in the ancient town. If you come to Shuhe for the first time, you will feel that there are a lot of people here, similar to Dayan Ancient Town. If you like quietness, it is recommended that you walk in the direction of the Ancient Tea-Horse Road. There will be fewer people and you can feel the charm of Shuhe.
Walking slowly on the bumpy stone road, you can seem to feel the bustle and prosperity of the ancient Tea-Horse Road. Now, the prosperity is gone, and what remains is only the sedimentation of history and the changes of time. Let us slowly savor it.
The most common thing seen in Shuhe Ancient Town is couples taking wedding photos, with various styles taking turns. Seeing them so sweet, you can't help but want to capture these happy moments.
Although more tourists choose to come to Shuhe now, it is still much quieter than Dayan, and the air here is filled with a leisurely atmosphere. Don't come and go in a hurry. Be sure to stay in Shuhe for a night and wait in the room in the morning for the first ray of sunshine to shine into the room and illuminate our hearts.
I heard that Shuhe is a smaller version of Lijiang Old Town. After I went there, I found that Shuhe is not as commercialized as Lijiang. There are small bridges, flowing water and houses. Instead, it has a simple and peaceful feeling. Following the sound of water, I saw the local three-eye well. In order to save water, the design is quite unique. On the roadside, you can see women wearing Naxi costumes and old ladies basking in the sun. Everything is quiet and peaceful. I also met many couples taking wedding photos. If I have a choice between Lijiang and Shuhe, I will choose the latter.
It takes no more than 20 minutes to get from Lijiang Ancient Town to Shuhe Ancient Town. I heard from friends that it is almost the same distance as the ancient town. If you have time, you can go for a walk. After we came back from Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, we passed by Shuhe Ancient Town and took a walk in.
When we came out of the ancient town after walking around, there was a performance on the small stage
Shuhe Ancient Town also has many shops
Parking in Shuhe Ancient Town is much more convenient than parking in Lijiang Ancient Town, and the price is much cheaper. There is a parking lot directly at the door
There are many horses for tourists to ride in Shuhe Ancient Town, so be sure to keep an eye on your children.
I know that there are three famous ancient towns (towns) in Lijiang. Shuhe Ancient Town is the closest. You can get there by taking a special bus from the east gate of the ancient town to Baisha Town (there is a stop in Shuhe). The fare is 5 yuan. Shuhe Ancient Town is an important post station well preserved on the Ancient Tea Horse Road. It was built in the Yuan Dynasty (13th century) and is called "Shaowu" in Naxi language. The ancient town extends four main streets with Qinglong Bridge as the center, and completely retains the "Sifang Street" pattern of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and the Naxi three-square and one-screen wall residential building complex. The Jiuding Longtan water system runs through the town, forming a landscape feature of "every family has running water and every household has weeping willows". The main cultural relics include the murals of Dajue Palace in the Ming Dynasty, the Ancient Tea Horse Road Museum, the Sifang Tingyin Square and the Longquan Temple built in the Qing Dynasty. However, there is no popularity here, no popularity, it would be a pity if you don't go there, but if you go there, you will go there. It is especially suitable for taking photos because there are few people, little interference, and many small scenes.
Shuhe Ancient Town, 4 kilometers northwest of Lijiang Ancient Town, is a small town around Lijiang Ancient Town with a history of thousands of years. As a part of Lijiang Ancient Town, Shuhe Ancient Town has well-preserved ancient roads, markets, and traditional houses. In the language of the Naxi people, Shuhe means a village under the mountains.
Admission is free and open all day. Inside the Shuhe Ancient Town Archway, Shuhe Road, Gucheng District, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province.
I have always had a good impression of Shuhe Ancient Town. The town is very big, with roads everywhere. I often get lost. Sometimes, when I turn a corner at the end of the road, I see another world. I walk around and see different scenery. I pretend to be a local and don't want to wake up. The bluestone road after the rain is extremely bright. The prosperous places are full of fireworks. The singers in the restaurant and bar sing touching love songs, which make people linger. There are small bridges and flowing water in the quiet places, poetry and the distance. Compared with Lugu Lake, this is the world.
Most of the shops in Shuhe Ancient Town are restaurants, and now there are also travel photography shops. The streets are full of young ladies wearing various ethnic costumes to take pictures in the ancient town, which makes this place more lively. There is not much time to stay in the ancient town, so you can only be a passer-by and exist in your memory.
Shuhe Ancient Town is very close to the B&B where we stayed that night, so we borrowed the owner's electric car and went there for dinner after 9 pm. Since we went there late, many businesses in the ancient town were closed and many lights were turned off.
After dinner, I strolled around the ancient town for a while.
Compared with the bustling Dayan Ancient Town, Shuhe Ancient Town is much quieter and more elegant. It is an important and well-preserved market town on the Ancient Tea-Horse Road. It basically follows the traditional architectural style of the Naxi people and has a strong ethnic flavor. Many inns even introduce water features, which are unique.
If you want to experience the life of the local Naxi people, I recommend you stay here for two days. The houses, ancient roads, markets, and water systems can always make people feel a strong cultural atmosphere. It makes people sigh that this is what an ancient town should look like!
Some people like Lijiang because of a snow-capped mountain
Some people like Lijiang because of the sunshine.
Some people like Lijiang because of a romantic encounter
And I fell in love with Lijiang because there is an ancient town of Shuhe here.
The first time I went from Lijiang Ancient Town to Shuhe Ancient Town, I felt it was so fresh and quiet. The water was beautiful, the trees were beautiful, the wind was gentle, and the alleys were gentle.
This time I brought the team to Shuhe Ancient Town again, and I still felt it was warm and beautiful. The people I love most are around me, so what should I worry about?
The roads in Shuhe Ancient Town are wider than those in Lijiang Ancient Town, and Shuhe is closer to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. You can see the snow mountain from the hotel balcony. If you are staying at an inn outside Shuhe Ancient Town, you can park your car around the hotel. The streets in Lijiang Ancient Town are narrow, and cars can only be parked in the parking lot in the ancient town. It is not very scientific to walk up the hill with luggage.
Tickets: 15 (Dali Ancient Town, Lijiang Ancient Town, Shuanglang Ancient Town, Baisha Ancient Town, and nearby ancient towns do not require tickets. I don’t know where they get their confidence from)
Transportation: Take the No. 111 tourist bus from the north gate of Lijiang Ancient Town to Shuhe Ancient Town. The ticket price is 2 yuan and the journey takes about 40 minutes.
It costs about 20 yuan by taxi and is about 8 kilometers away from Lijiang Ancient Town.
Shuhe Ancient Town is a smaller version of Lijiang Ancient Town. In fact, compared with Lijiang, Shuhe Ancient Town seems to give people a better feeling. It is not so commercialized.
Compared with Lijiang Ancient Town, this place has the same crisscrossing ditches, the same bluestone alleys, the same square streets and the same decorative style.
But it is less noisy, more romantic, and has a touch of the flavor of fireworks!
Walking through the streets and alleys, looking for the most beautiful scenery in the ancient city, living freely like the locals. Suddenly I feel that life is beautiful and worth living.
My Yunnan Travel Notes: I am waiting for the wind to come here - Yunnan Lijiang / Lugu Lake / Shangri-La Travel Notes http://www.mafengwo.cn/i/17066239.html
Lijiang has three ancient towns - Dayan Ancient Town, Shuhe Ancient Town, and Baisha Ancient Town. Among them, Dayan Ancient Town has the most tourists and the most serious commercialization. Shuhe Ancient Town is slightly smaller and quieter, and Baisha Ancient Town has almost no tourism development. If time permits, you can choose to stay in Dayan Ancient Town and Shuhe Ancient Town for one or two days each. Compared with Dayan Ancient Town, our family of three prefers Shuhe Ancient Town.
Shuhe Ancient Town is much smaller than Dayan Ancient Town, but it has fewer tourists and is quieter. When we visited Dayan Ancient Town before, I don’t know if it was because of too much rain in those days or what, the streams in the ancient town felt very turbid. But the streams in Shuhe Ancient Town are very, very clear.
Whether you like bustle or quiet, worldly or detached, you can find the atmosphere you like here. It is lively during the day and quiet at night. The winter sun is so beautiful.
Shuhe Ancient Town, called "Shaowu" in Naxi language, is named after the Jubao Mountain behind the village, which looks like a piled peak. The name of the village is derived from the mountain, which means "the village under the peak". It is one of the earliest settlements of Naxi ancestors in Lijiang Basin and an important market town well preserved on the Ancient Tea Horse Road. The streets of the ancient town are distributed in a relatively neat manner, mostly in a cross shape, so it is not easy to get lost. There are not only local characteristic buildings and folk culture, but also mountains and rivers. The commercial atmosphere of Shuhe Ancient Town is not as strong as other ancient towns, so it is worth a visit. Strolling slowly, you will reach Sansheng Palace and Shilian Temple when you reach Qinglong Bridge. There are scenery all the way, just stroll slowly.
Shuhe Ancient Town is a very suitable place for the whole family to travel, especially during the Spring Festival. There are not many people. Those who like lively places can live in the ancient town, and those who like quiet places can live on the edge of the ancient town. There are many special homestays there, and each courtyard is very beautiful. There is Jiuding Longtan in the ancient town, and you can sit in a bar at night, which is very comfortable!
It is the off-season now, there are not many people in the ancient town, the B&B is very cheap, the business atmosphere is strong, the food and other things are double the price of the outside, it is still very good to walk around and take pictures. The night is much more beautiful than the day, and there are many people taking wedding photos.
Shuhe Ancient Town is much more peaceful than Lijiang, and it is waiting for everyone quietly. It is not so noisy~ Highly recommended. There are newlyweds taking wedding photos everywhere in Shuhe. Every place is your own venue, no group photos~
The beauty of Shuhe Ancient Town is even better than that of Lijiang. Its tranquility makes people want to stop in time. Remember, you must choose a local inn to stay in, not a business hotel arranged by a travel agency.
Every ten steps, there is a similar African drum shop, flower cake shop, and yak dried shop... I felt tired after wandering around and wanted to find a quiet coffee shop to rest, but almost all coffee shops and bars in Lijiang have a resident singer, singing folk songs in hoarse throats that are not quite standard Mandarin. The most exaggerated shop has a singer who actually plays and sings by the window on the second floor facing the square below. I thought I met Yunnan Romeo by the window. I finally found a cat sky bookstore without a singer, and ordered a cup of coffee on the second floor platform. As a result, the singing of the two bars across the street was so strong that it penetrated the wall. It formed a mixed sound wave attack with the original accompaniment music in the bookstore hall. It was really a test of my patience to handle some work under this background music ensemble.
Get up early
Alone
Take a leisurely walk in Shuhe Ancient Town
Quiet morning
No more noisy voices, no crowded crowds
This is the ancient town I want.
It is very suitable for staying for 10 days or half a month. It is very convenient to go everywhere, such as Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Moon Valley, and Lijiang Ancient Town.
I went there in 2021 and it was quite deserted. The epidemic has had a huge impact on the tourism industry.
Shuhe Ancient Town is mostly filled with restaurants and shops selling snacks, with very few other types of shops.
It is not far from Lijiang Ancient Town. If you don’t like crowds, you can choose to live in Shuhe.
It's pretty good. Quiet, comfortable and relaxing.
There is an ancient town, delicious food, few people, and it is quiet, which is very good. The stone pot fish there is really great!
Compared to the crowded Dali, Shuhe is still a quiet place
The water of Qinglong River flows through Jiuding Longtan and is very clear.
Unexpectedly good! The water in the Jiuding Dragon Pond is so clear and green! The Naxi and Miao ancient villages are so beautiful! The photos taken at Pamukkale Hotel are amazing!
Quiet, suitable for sunbathing, vacation, B&B is cost-effective in the off-season
There are many inns, very relaxing. Come quickly.
Shuhe Ancient Town was once a glorious place on the Ancient Tea-Horse Road. After its restoration and reconstruction, it is now dazzling and full of flowers.
Shuhe Ancient Town is much better than Lijiang Ancient Town. Shuhe still retains its purity. I like Shuhe and regret not spending more time to visit and experience it.
Shuhe Ancient Town is a quiet beauty. I personally feel it is better than Dali and Lijiang Ancient Town. If you are not in a hurry, you can go there.
When we arrived in Lijiang, the first thing we did was to visit Shuhe Ancient Town. We spent two hours touring the peaceful and quaint town.
It is quieter than Lijiang Ancient Town and is perfect for taking photos. Hari Valley is quiet and beautiful with few people.
Attractions in Lijiang, Yunnan, close to the edge of Lijiang Old Town
Among the three ancient towns in Lijiang, Shuhe Ancient Town has the deepest cultural heritage and is a good place to relax. Unlike Dayan Ancient Town, which is crowded and too commercialized, it maintains tranquility amid the hurried footsteps of travelers and is penetrated and surrounded by streams. Its tranquil beauty is unmatched by Dayan Ancient Town.
Take bus No. 11 from Zhongyi Market at the South Gate of Dayan Ancient Town to Shuhe Ancient Town
I wanted to go and have a look, but when I got there, I was told I had to pay!!! The guide said it was free.
The fee schedule says that it will start from October 1, 2018, 30 yuan per person
There is a booth right at the gate, and a few people stop you and ask you to buy a ticket. In fact, there is no place inside that requires ticket checking.
To be honest, it feels like a scam for tourists, because if you walk there, you have to pay a fee, and if you take a taxi, you have to get off the car and buy a ticket, and even if you have a license plate from another place, you have to buy a ticket.
But local cars can pass smoothly!
So, you can choose to go in by Didi or go in the evening when these people get off work, no one will stop you.
The internet said that if you encounter a toll booth, you should take a detour. But after checking, there is no place to detour.
There are many horse-drawn carriages inside, and you can smell the smell of horse poop at the door.
The whole ancient city has this smell, it's not very pleasant
The food is much more expensive than in Lijiang Old Town, and the portions are average.
Because there are fewer people, the ancient town is indeed quieter, but compared with Dayan, it is similar and there is nothing special.
It's not as good as what people say online. I'm so angry that I don't want to post pictures.
Shuhe Ancient Town is quieter than Dayan Ancient Town. Many tourists choose to stay in Shuhe after coming to Lijiang. In such a quiet place, you can leave the world behind, watch the sunset, and listen to the breeze. The comfort is enough to make you forget what day it is.
Actually, I came here for Longmen Escort Agency, but I didn't expect it to be several kilometers away from Shuhe. But it is much quieter than Dayan, and the style is very similar.
Although not as popular as Lijiang, it is quiet and less crowded at the foot of the snow-capped mountains.
In winter, Shuhe has largely restored the appearance of an ancient city. There are few people and it is very quiet at night. There is a bonfire party in Sifangtingyin, which is the only lively place. Most shops are closed very early, and it is very lively.
There are fewer people, so you can walk around and take pictures~
Lijiang Ancient Town is actually composed of Dayan Ancient Town, Baisha Ancient Town and Shuhe Ancient Town, among which Dayan Ancient Town is the most famous. It is said that Dayan Ancient Town gives people the feeling of being the eldest son of Lijiang, showing up in the limelight, attracting thousands of tourists. Baisha Ancient Town is an illegitimate child, hiding in the wild, and it is difficult to see him without excavation. Shuhe Ancient Town is like the youngest daughter of Lijiang, gentle and graceful, quiet and independent. Shuhe Ancient Town is not far from Dayan Ancient Town. Perhaps because Dayan Ancient Town is too famous, there are not many tourists here, which makes it more peaceful and leisurely.
Shuhe Subdistrict is located in the northwest of the Old Town District of Lijiang City, Yunnan Province. It is connected to Jinshan Township Culture in the east and Yulong County in the south, west and north. It has diverse terrains including dam areas, semi-mountainous areas, and high-altitude mountainous areas.
As soon as you enter the scenic area, you will see a sales office. There is no sand table yet, just large spray-painted drawings, which is also very magical.
The ancient town is similar, less popular than Dayan, the unit price of goods is slightly higher, and there is an entrance fee. I don’t know what the leaders think, many shops are half dead. It is said that there are many entrances to Shuhe Ancient Town that can be entered without buying a ticket.
Lijiang is an important stop on the Ancient Tea-Horse Road. There is still some related culture left in Shuhe Ancient Town. Taking advantage of this, the experience of riding in a carriage and riding a horse comes naturally. There are many horses on the street, but these horses have dull eyes and numbness, not at all like the horses in Shangri-La. But there is nothing that can be done about it. Different people have different lives, and different horses have different destinies.
It should be more economical to share a car from Lijiang. We took a ride with a friend for the round trip.
I went for a tour before the Ancient Tea Horse Road Museum closed, and here I got to know a different Lijiang.
Eight Scenic Spots of Shuhe
Night market fireflies, Longmen moon view, snow-capped mountains reflected, broken monuments knocking
Fish and water relatives Xishan red leaf stone lotus night talk smoke willow flat bridge
Shuhe Ancient Town is also a place I must recommend, probably because the weather was super super super good when we went there that day... With blue sky and white clouds as embellishment, what scenery can't be beautiful???
My personal feeling is that Lijiang Ancient Town is more fun. Shuhe Ancient Town is much smaller.
There is another scenic spot in the northwest of Lijiang Old Town, which is Shuhe Ancient Town. The ancient town has a long history and is much smaller and quieter than Lijiang Old Town.
Gradually, people have become accustomed to the hustle and bustle of big cities. If you have the opportunity to come to Lijiang, you can try the slow-paced life here. Wake up to the sound of birds singing in the morning, walk on the streets of the ancient town, buy all kinds of pure natural ingredients to cook by yourself, drink afternoon tea and make new friends in the afternoon, and look at the scenery outside the window and the handsome boys and girls from all over the world. The inn also has its own garden, vegetable garden, and orchard. You can plant fruit trees here. When the fruits are ripe, the inn CEO will personally airlift them to you. You can also enjoy the breeze and drink a little wine here in the evening. Let you relax yourself and forget the troubles of life. The photo was taken at Jiujiantang Inn, where CEO Brother Yong is particularly enthusiastic.
