Donghu, a small lake in Linhai District, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, gets its name from its proximity to the eastern wall of Taizhou Prefecture. Donghu is quite small, measuring 500 meters from north to south and 150 meters from east to west. Qing Dynasty literati likened it to a "Little West Lake": "Hangzhou has West Lake, Taizhou has East Lake. The beauty of Donghu is this Little West Lake." All roads around Donghu are open, offering scenic views of the lake and water. Deeper into the lake, the scenery is truly remarkable, with pavilions, towering towers, flowing tiles, a forest of steles, a stage, a pavilion in the center of the lake, and the Nine-Curve Bridge, showcasing the beauty of Jiangnan gardens. Admission to the scenic area is 15 yuan, with half-price admission 7 yuan. Discounts are available when combined with the Jiangnan Great Wall ticket.

East Lake, excavated during the Northern Song Dynasty, was originally a naval anchorage and garrison. In 1071, the fourth year of the Northern Song Dynasty's Xining reign, it was dredged and expanded by Qian Xuan, the prefect of Taizhou, and subsequently converted into a garden. East Lake is divided into three major areas: the front lake, the center lake, and the back lake. The front lake area comprises Yishui Villa, Rongxing Hall, and the East Lake Stele Forest; the center lake area includes the Lake Heart Pavilion, Bangou Pavilion, Luo Linhai Shrine, Qiaoyun Pavilion, Fengyuan Pavilion, and the ruins of the Qiaofu Shrine; and the back lake area comprises Qishui Garden, Xiaojian Lake, and Haijiao Garden, presenting a typical Jiangnan garden style.

I originally thought that the lakes in Zhejiang should be similar. After entering, I was deeply impressed. The pavilions and terraces are arranged in a staggered manner, small but exquisite. Based on the beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains, the reputation of Little West Lake is not exaggerated. Tickets are 15 yuan

Located on the coast, East Lake's emerald waters gently reflect the ancient city. Pavilions and towers are artfully arranged, bridges and willow trees gently sway. A stroll along the lakeside is a picturesque scene. Historical relics and natural beauty complement each other, allowing you to quietly enjoy the unique charm of the Jiangnan water town.

It's really beautiful, with Suzhou garden-like architectural style and a Jiangnan style.

By cemperor |

It's worth a visit, the natural scenery is great. It's very suitable for playing with the family.

By Fatty fell into the water |

There's a 5 yuan entrance fee, but local seniors can enter for free. My friend and I didn't go in. From the outside, the view inside is basically a small park consisting of a lake and willow trees. From the entrance stairs of the Jiangnan Ancient Great Wall, looking at East Lake, you can see a rectangular building structure.

By Thor Micro |

A very small park with good scenery. Locals can enter without paying entrance fee.

By Insect Master |

It's just a small park, not much of a feature, it should be open to the public for free.

By Jianjiang |

I bought a combined ticket for Taizhou City Wall and East Lake Park on Tongcheng.com. I climbed up the Taizhou City Wall and looked out over East Lake Park. The small bridges, flowing water, pavilions, towers, lakes and mountains were all beautiful.

There is a lake in the city with beautiful scenery, green vines accompanying ancient trees, and clear water reflecting distant mountains.

The signature attraction of my hometown is free, free, free!!

By Bai Xubo |

It was originally a beautiful place with water, trees, pavilions, and towers, with mountains and the Great Wall in the distance serving as background. But perhaps it was the overall atmosphere of a small city, and I don't know if it was the locals or tourists who made such a beautiful place dirty. There was garbage everywhere by the lake, and a lot of it was floating on the water.

By Cute winter |

The East Lake scenic area is not big. You can see the panoramic view after climbing the Taizhou City Wall. It is more cost-effective to buy a combined ticket online. It is more convenient to go to the East Lake first and then climb the city wall from the tourist center opposite. Otherwise, you have to come back and go in again.

A park in front of the ancient Great Wall can be used as a warm-up exercise, but it is still quite exciting. The park is intertwined with a lake, and the scenery is unique. My Argentinian friends praised it highly.

I have been studying in Linhai for 4 years. When it comes to weekend trips to Linhai, the only place I can go is Chonghemen. I also went to East Lake for a walk.

I saw the statue of Luo Binwang, one of the Four Great Scholars of the Early Tang Dynasty. It turns out he was once a high official in Linhai. There's also a Qian Family Ancestral Hall in East Lake Park, which shows how popular the Qian family was in southern China.

By The sun and the moon in the painting |

The scenery is nice, like a small park, but it's too small, I don't think it's worth coming here specifically

Linhai East Lake is named after its proximity to the eastern side of the Taizhou city wall. Originally, East Lake was the confluence of Baiyun and Shangong Creeks in the north of the city, flowing south into the Lingjiang River. East Lake was excavated in the second year of the Duangong reign of the Northern Song Dynasty (989) and was originally a place for naval forces to anchor and station troops. In the fourth year of the Xining reign of the Northern Song Dynasty (1071), it was dredged and expanded by the prefect Qian Xuan, and subsequently expanded through successive generations. In the eighteenth year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1679) and the tenth year of the Tongzhi reign (1871), the prefects Bao Futai and Liu Wangao undertook two major dredgings, bringing it to its present size. Today, East Lake Park is awash with rippling green waters, with pavilions and terraces dotted around, islands suspended in the middle, bridges connected by embankments, and nine-curve railing bridges. The lake and mountains reflect each other, and the spring flowers and autumn moons are filled with fragrance. The beauty of East Lake was so remarkable that Yu Yue, a famous Qing Dynasty scholar, praised it in his "Spring in the Hall Essays" by saying, "Hangzhou has West Lake, Taizhou has East Lake, and the beauty of East Lake is even better than that of the Little West Lake." He also said: "Beautiful mountains and rivers, less than half a mile away from Dongguo, it is suitable for both sunny and rainy days, how can it compare with the first building in West Lake." The feeling of Donghu to me is "abundant and beautiful", just like a graceful and beautiful woman from the south of the Yangtze River. Facing this scene and feeling, I couldn't help but utter a line of poetry: The best thing in the world is pure joy.

Chengdu has two East Lake Parks, and this is one of them, located in Xinfan Town. Many Chengdu locals may not have been here. Xinfan Town is also a characteristic town mainly engaged in the furniture business, which reminds me of Likou in Suzhou.

The park is small and requires an entrance fee, but it has its own unique features. It is mainly dedicated to the memory of Li Deyu, a famous prime minister in the Tang Dynasty. You may not be familiar with him, but when it comes to the famous historical event, the Niu-Li factional dispute, the "Li" in it is Li Deyu.

Taizhou was the primary settlement of the renowned Wuyue Qian clan. During his tenure as governor, Qian Xuan made significant contributions, including the construction of the Taizhou prefectural capital and the opening of East Lake. East Lake, situated directly in front of the Jiangnan Great Wall, is a worthwhile addition to your itinerary, boasting pavilions, towers, lake views, and stunning mountain scenery. Within East Lake Park, the Luo Linhai Shrine commemorates Luo Binwang, author of the poem "The Goose" and the timeless "Shou Wu Xing Wen."

Taizhou's East Lake Greenway happens to share the same name as a recently constructed scenic spot in Wuhan. I didn't have high expectations at first, but I was ultimately captivated by its tranquility and natural beauty. The entrance offers very cheap single, double, and quad bikes (5 yuan per person), which is much cheaper than Wuhan, hahaha.

The scenery here is quite different from the bustling East Lake in Wuhan. Taizhou's East Lake also seems to have a Zen feel: egrets tread on the blue waves, reeds grow tall on the beach, an old man sails a small boat, and friends and family ride together... I wish time could stand still at this moment.

Cycling and sightseeing is one of life’s great pleasures!

By Tucao hole |

The trip to Taizhou was also for business, and what I can't forget is that we encountered a big typhoon. The plane was almost blown away, and then we couldn't fly. We could only walk around. It was a terrible experience.

By People_can |

It is located just below the Lansheng Gate in the Jiangnan Great Wall scenic area. Because the lake is located to the east of Taizhou City (the eastern city wall has been demolished, leaving only the Chonghe Gate), it is called East Lake.

By Mo Junhe |

Donghu is just like what I said, it can only be described as average.

By Falling grapefruit |

The East Road along the coast is similar to a city park, and the scenery is quite nice. You don't necessarily need a ticket to enter; you can still enjoy the beautiful scenery by walking along the lake. The scenery is especially beautiful during the Qing Dynasty and in the evening, when the Jiangnan Great Wall is reflected in the background. You can also climb up from the Lansheng Gate of the Jiangnan Great Wall to overlook the entire East Lake Park, which is also a great view!

By actor |

When I was a kid, I went in there on a school trip. I needed a ticket. Later, the fence was demolished and there were many people fishing. I heard it was a private garden in the past, so it wasn't very big.

By Xiaoxiang Bamboo Shadows |

The scenery is good. When I went there, I happened to meet a film crew shooting a movie during the Republic of China period. The various antique styles inside are still very good.

By Yaoyao |

There are not many attractions in Linhai City, but Donghu is one of them. Donghu is actually a park with very cheap tickets. There are drama performances inside. The park is not big but very unique. There are also peacocks inside. If you are lucky, you can see a peacock spreading its tail. Walk to the end and the exit is the entrance to the Linhai Ancient Great Wall.

It is just an ordinary park, and it charges an entrance fee. It is located in Linhai City, very close to Ziyang Ancient Street and the Jiangnan Great Wall.

There may be an East Lake in every city, but each East Lake is different. In Taizhou’s East Lake, you can see the mountains, and sometimes it really feels like you are in a painting.

The East Lake, not far from the ancient Great Wall, is an artificial lake dug by the prefect Qian Xuan in the fourth year of Xining in the Northern Song Dynasty (1071). The lake houses the Huxin Pavilion, Qiaoyun Pavilion, Hushan Temple, and Zhongyi Temple. You can visit them before visiting the ancient Great Wall.

I revisited an old place again, and saw the black-sailed boats shuttling across the lake. Northerners are good at riding horses, while southerners are good at sailing boats. Nowadays, few northerners can ride horses, but southerners are still good at sailing boats. The episode was that a toy seller took out a mechanical Monkey King, which instantly attracted Rou Beile's attention, and he finally bought it home with satisfaction.

By selika |

It's not worth going! And it has to follow the story of West Lake... There is no comparison at all!

By Ally |

For someone who loves natural landscapes, East Lake is definitely a great place to go. The artificially mined stone walls, the cool water, the swaying black-sailed boats, and the gentle breeze are truly relaxing. We also climbed a small hill above East Lake, where there is a tea garden. From the top of the hill, you can see the entire East Lake and the wall that separates the inky black East Lake water from the green outer water.

By FFFFFF |

Although the ticket price for Donghu Lake is not very high, it still feels like a sweet burden when you add the boat ticket. But you must take a black-sailed boat when you go to Donghu Lake, so that your life will be complete.

By alliance |

It is a very small artificial lake with many pavilions and towers. At the end of the lake is the Jiangnan Great Wall, which is very suitable for leisure.

By Sirius |

East Lake Park, located east of the city center and excavated during the Northern Song Dynasty, covers ten hectares of calm water, with picturesque pavilions and terraces, and islands suspended in the middle, connected by embankments and bridges. Under the spring breeze and autumn moon, the light and fragrance permeate the air, and the scenery of lake and mountain complement each other beautifully. Strolling along, resting in the pavilions, gazing from the towers, or paddling in the lake, one can naturally be inspired. An ancient couplet sang: "Beautiful mountains and beautiful waters, less than half a mile from Dongguo; sunny or rainy, how can it compare to the first tower of West Lake?"

This is what a park is. I think it must be a 5-star scenic spot. It is a natural oxygen bar. It is very cool on cloudy days in May. The green coverage rate is very high. You can take a boat in it. The ecological environment is very good. There are peacocks, geese, and ducks running around.

East Lake, located in Linhai City, is divided into the Front Lake and the Back Lake. The "Lake Center Pavilion" is located in the center of the lake. Dotted with pavilions and terraces, and featuring small bridges and flowing water, the waterscape is a unique and beautiful feature of East Lake. In the Back Lake, there's an ancient building called the Qiaoyun Pavilion. This three-story pavilion offers a stunning view of the entire lake. Behind the end of East Lake Park lies the famous "Jiangnan Great Wall."

It's a big lake, but it's just average after seeing other lakes.

It is just opposite Chonghe Gate. There are two gates. From Chonghe Gate, you can go through the park to the Great Wall attractions opposite.

Although it is just a small park, I personally feel that the garden landscape is very good~

Linhai East Lake Park is located in the urban area of Linhai. It is a scenic landscape with mountains behind and water in front, and surrounded by green mountains on three sides. It is worth a visit.

By Iron Iverson |

This artificial lake was dug during the Song Dynasty. It's not very large, and you need a ticket to enter. There's nothing particularly attractive here, just pavilions, rockery, a nine-bend bridge, and an arch bridge. It's a good place for some photo opportunities. You can go boating, but the water feels a bit dirty. It's in a great location, very close to Ziyang Street, the Jiangnan Great Wall, and Chonghe Gate.

East Lake, located east of the ancient city of Linhai, was excavated during the Northern Song Dynasty. Originally a place for naval vessels to moor and garrison troops, East Lake was excavated during the Northern Song Dynasty's Xining reign (1071). Taizhou prefect Qian Xuan dredged the beach and reclaimed the lake, which he later converted into a garden. Since the Song Dynasty, East Lake has undergone significant renovations. In particular, during the 18th year of the Kangxi reign (1676) and the 10th year of the Tongzhi reign (1871), East Lake was renovated by Taizhou prefects Bao Futai and Liu Wangao, achieving remarkable scale and becoming the premier garden in Taizhou. The Qing scholar Yu Yue remarked, "Hangzhou has West Lake, Taizhou has East Lake, and the beauty of East Lake is a smaller West Lake." In recent years, the Linhai Municipal Government has undertaken a large-scale renovation of East Lake, drawing on its historical significance. This has given the nearly thousand-year-old garden an even more dazzling splendor. The southeast entrance is Yishui Villa, named after Du Fu's poem, "A famous garden rests on green water." Within, buildings commemorating Qian Xuan and the Qian family are located, commonly known as "Qian Garden."

By Sloth Popo |

Local residents of the East Lake Scenic Area are free to enter and explore the park freely, while non-local residents must purchase a separate ticket. In the early morning hours, many elderly people come here to exercise, play the erhu, or play chess. Ticket sellers don't even bother to see IDs for these regular parkgoers. Tourists seeking entry are unconditionally required to purchase a ticket.

By Do you have no clothes? |

Located in the center of Linhai Old Town, the park is old and quiet, with shaded trees, pavilions and waterside pavilions. It's okay in the summer, but in the winter the trees are a bit too dense and it's cold. It seems that there is no entrance fee.

By Do you have no clothes? |

It's a small park in the city center, quiet and with decent scenery, but I always feel it's a bit eerie. You can go in for a stroll if you're passing by.

By Meat, meat, meat |

Located opposite the ancient Great Wall, it is considered a park.
