Construction began in 1932, funded by funds from the Vatican. The church, facing west and east, stands 15 meters tall, with three bays 17 meters wide and 21 meters deep. A cross stands directly above the main entrance, with the inscription "Catholic Church" below. A plum blossom-shaped round window graces the middle level. The structure is a mixed stone, wood, and reinforced concrete structure with a gabled roof, wooden purlins, and a domed canopy. There are 12 windows on either side, a square roof at the rear hall, and a pair of drum stones flanking the main entrance. The building covers an area of 600 square meters. It was renovated in 1996 in the Spanish Gothic style of the 15th-century Renaissance. A religious building, housing clergy, is located to the right of the church. It is designated a Key Cultural Relic Protection Site in Zhejiang Province and a member of the sixth batch of National Key Cultural Relic Protection Sites.

This is the most classical church in Ningbo.
I took a taxi back to the city center and went to the Catholic Church next to the Old Bund. The night view is nice.
Tianyi Catholic Church is free! Coincidentally, the church was open at night. I walked through the church for the first time and thought it would be a very romantic thing to hold a wedding here.
The photo was taken at night. It was near the Old Bund. There was a
The Yaohang Street Catholic Church in Ningbo, also known as the Yaohang Street Church of the Assumption, was built by French priests on Yaohang Street in Ningbo during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. It was confiscated by Emperor Yongzheng in 1723.
It depends on how you look at it. To feel the same thing, you still have to start from the culture. The standards of beauty and ugliness in everyone's mind are different.
The building has not been completely renovated yet and is quite old. The interior decoration is also unique. Once the renovation is completed, it may be even better.
I noticed that many reviews mentioned the wrong church! This Catholic church is near the Old Bund in Jiangbei District, not the Catholic church in Tianyi Square in Haishu District (Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church).
This is a very historic church. It is a tourist attraction in Sanjiangkou.
I'm not religious, but the building is beautiful and gives people a solemn feeling.
We didn't have time to visit. From the outside, it's heartbreaking. If old buildings were properly maintained, they would be cash cows for the government. Doesn't this city government understand that? Look at the tacky basement shops. So sad.
The road outside is under construction, so it is better to walk from the river side.
It's a pity that a fire in 2014 almost completely destroyed it.
Of course it has been rebuilt now. There are almost no people in the church, and the scriptures are placed on the tables.
Stained glass windows simply use different colors and do not have glass paintings.
However, because the bell tower is high and there are no high-rise buildings nearby, the spire of the bell tower can be seen from the opposite bank.
One of the check-in spots for Ningbo people to take wedding photos, haha. Just look at the exterior, the interior is just average.
What a beautiful church! I was drawn to this church while researching my Ningbo travel guide, but I hadn't planned to visit it specifically. It's actually right in the city center, near the Chenghuang Temple. I looked up while parking my car and saw it, and it felt like I was transported to Melbourne. There are a lot of foreign tourists in this area, but downtown Ningbo is quite attractive, clean, and has good transportation!
Just look at the picture and see for yourself whether it is beautiful or not.
Ningbo Old Bund Catholic Church, located at the north end of Xinjiang Bridge in Ningbo, was built in 1872 (the 11th year of the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty). A bell tower was added in 1899 (the 25th year of the Guangxu reign). The entire building comprises the church, bell tower, and side buildings. Its design embodies a classic Romanesque-Gothic style. It holds significant historical, cultural, and artistic value, is a nationally recognized outstanding modern building, and is listed in the sixth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
It’s near Tianyi Square. I went there at night and the lights were beautiful.
It is not far from Tianyi Square and is considered a landmark building in Ningbo.
It's okay to just stroll around the Old Bund.
It's just so-so. I looked at it from the outside but didn't go in because it was too late.
It is next to Tianyi Square, on the south side of the square. It is quite beautiful at night.
It's right next to Tianyi Square and the hotel where we stayed. Let's take a photo outside.
This is definitely worth a visit, as it doesn't take much time and is conveniently located in the city center. It seems to be older than the Catholic Church in Shanghai and is a symbol of Ningbo's opening as a port.
Countless wedding photos were taken here. Every Christmas, I always want to take my baby here to feel the strong Christian atmosphere. I suggest that those who go there to take pictures should take pictures from a low angle. It will look good if you can take pictures of the whole church.

A scene of the Old Bund in Jiangbei, with a sense of historical vicissitudes, looks quite good.
There seem to be two churches in Ningbo and I can't tell which one is the Catholic church. This church located in Tianyi Square looks beautiful from the outside, but I don't know what it looks like inside.
The staff are very enthusiastic and patiently introduce and teach.
No feeling, no feeling, no feeling...
This is the oldest church in Ningbo and also a landmark of Ningbo. The photo was taken when I went to Ningbo in 2011. When I went there in 2014, the church in Ningbo seemed to have been burned down by a fire, so the photos I took in 2011 seem more precious.
Built by Bishop Su, a French bishop of the Zhejiang Diocese, the bell tower was added in 1899. The entire bell tower (including the music room) comprises the main hall, bishop's office, parish area with bedrooms, dressing rooms, library, mother's chapel, and printing room. The church bell tower is Gothic in style and well-preserved. On July 28, 2014, it was destroyed by a fire of unknown cause.
I couldn't go in to visit, the night view is more beautiful at night
Near the Old Bund in Ningbo, we arrived too late and didn’t go inside, so we could only take a photo outside.
On Sunday mornings, feel the peace of mind brought by the music, a piece of pure land in the bustling city.
A magnificent church appeared before our eyes. The entire complex consists of the bishop's palace, the main parish, and several side buildings. The towering and slender church, with its unique Romanesque Gothic style, is particularly magnificent.
The exterior is magnificent, the interior is solemn and dignified, the Catholic Church
Now it is a fire that was built after the fire.
Ningbo Catholic Church, located on the north bank of the Sanjiangkou River, north of Xinjiang Bridge, in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, comprises the Bishop's Palace, the main parish, and several outbuildings. The architectural integrity and grandeur of the building are particularly striking, with the towering, slender church, known for its unique Gothic architectural style, making it a nationally recognized outstanding modern building. It is a designated key cultural relic protection site in Zhejiang Province and one of the sixth batch of national key cultural relic protection sites. The night view is stunning.
What a pitfall, the construction work, I was confused when I saw it, and when I went in, it was nothing like the photo,
The first time I went to church was on Christmas Eve, listening to the Bible stories.
There are many people who come to take photos and enjoy the walking places.
Ningbo Catholic Church (Old Bund Catholic Church) was first built in 1872 during the reign of Emperor Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty, with a bell tower added in 1899. The entire building, consisting of the church, bell tower, bishop's scripture building, and ancillary buildings, features a typical Gothic architectural style. It holds high historical, cultural, and artistic value, and bears witness to the French invasion of China. It is also a landmark building in old Ningbo.
It's not very big and the building is just average. You can take a look at it when you go to the Old Bund.
It's open on Sundays and the decor inside is very nice.
Worth a visit, very beautiful, worth sitting inside
Under construction....It's fenced off, so I can only look inside and can't take pictures...It's quite small inside
It's quite good, in Sanjiangkou, but the exterior has not been repaired yet.
The Catholic Church next to Tianyi Square is majestic and magnificent
The entire complex consists of the bishop's residence, the main parish, and several outbuildings. The buildings are uniform and magnificent, especially the towering and slender church, with its unique Gothic architectural style, which makes it the most prestigious Catholic church in the province.

During the day, it exudes a sense of historical vicissitudes, while at night, it reveals a beautiful silhouette.
A great choice for newlyweds in Ningbo to take wedding photos, it is romantic yet solemn. There are also many people praying on weekends.
Ningbo Catholic Church is a Gothic-style building and is quite majestic.
A very distinctive church, tall and majestic, with a good night view
It's just an ordinary church. No need to go there specially. I just stopped by on the way.

A magnificent church appeared before our eyes. The entire complex consists of the bishop's palace, the main parish, and several side buildings. The towering and slender church, with its unique Romanesque Gothic style, is particularly magnificent.
When I went there, it was under renovation and surrounded by walls, so I could only see the bell tower.
When I went there, I could only see the outer outline due to construction.
Walk into the church and take a rest on the chair. The Western architectural style is quite unique, the interior is very spacious and the visual sense is very strong.
The Catholic Church is very big and tall. Many people took photos there. I am a Buddhist, so I just looked at it.
Tianyi Square is very grand in the city center.
Next to Tianyi, there is a very distinctive building, and believers can go there to attend mass.
It is located at the end of the Old Bund near the Yongjiang Bridge. It carries a long history, but it is under construction and renovation, so you can only view it from a distance.
To be honest, it's just average, not as grand as I thought.
It is one of the most distinctive buildings in Ningbo.
Located in the Old Bund, Jiangbei District, Ningbo, it is a Catholic church
Ningbo Tianyi's landmark building. It looks very grand.
It should be considered a protected building. It is in the city and very conspicuous. Many people take photos.
Really like it, especially the night scene, it is so shocking
Yes, it was burned last year and has been repaired now.
Those who cannot get what they want are always in turmoil, while those who are favored are fearless
It was a bit unfortunate that when I went there, it was under construction, so I didn't go inside to see it. I just took pictures outside. Actually, I personally like this kind of architecture. It is very different from modern architecture. Catholic architecture is very exquisite. I just went to see the building, that's all.
At that time, I was traveling around Ningbo by bus with a backpack on my back. I went to Ningbo University, the Bund, and this Catholic church. The architecture is very distinctive. If you pass by, you might as well take a good look at it.
I personally think it's a great place to visit.
Ningbo has many churches, the most famous of which is probably the Catholic Church on Yaohang Street, near Tianyi Square, near the Sanjiangkou area of Ningbo. Take the subway to Tianyi Square, then walk through it and you'll see a towering spire among the other buildings. This is the Catholic Church. Worshippers gather here on Sundays. The church is open during the day and only opens at night around Christmas, especially on Christmas Eve, when the priest conducts ceremonies and prayers.
The familiar European charm is, in fact, an oriental memory woven into the fabric of Ningbo. The Gothic spires towering on the north bank of Sanjiangkou have long been drenched in the misty rain of Siming. The Catholic Church by the river is a landmark of Ningbo's civilization. Wherever you see the twin towers piercing the sky, you'll find the origin of this century-old commercial port.
This stone building has quietly watched the tides of the Yongjiang River since the Guangxu period. I often stroll along the bluestone pavement of the Old Bund, watching the dusk drape the church in an amber veil. The vibrant light and shadows filtered through the stained glass windows, almost like the sounds of 19th-century ocean whistles blending into the evening breeze of Sanjiangkou.
Best time to shoot: dusk to the start of the night lights (5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in winter is especially good)
Viewing coordinates: ① The curved stone steps in front of the church main entrance ② The viewing platform of Yongjiang Bridge ③ The intersection of Huaishu Road and Zhongma Road
Composition tips:
■Using the river as a mirror, capturing the virtual and real symphony of buildings and reflections
■Using the old wall creeper as the foreground, let the red bricks and green vines dance together
■When the lights of the bell tower are on, the silhouette of the people will be in the same frame with the rose window
■Walking through the cast iron porch with an umbrella in the misty drizzle, capturing the overlapping of time and space in the mist
As the river breeze brushed against the ivy adorning the cast-iron cross, I finally understood: This building, with its Roman columns supporting a gabled wall, is a visual totem of Ningbo's inclusive spirit. The viewfinder captures not only an exotic atmosphere but also the grandeur of this century-old commercial port, embracing the world.
