Designer Yao Renxi, who was initially thrilled to have the theater built in a deserted fishing village, unexpectedly found it possible to sustain expenses solely through admissions. Yao, a Taiwanese, UC Berkeley graduate, and a devoted Buddhist, designed the theater in the form of twin lotus flowers, with its Jiangnan-style ice-cracked window lattices. The theater's reflection in the water alternates between reality and illusion, creating a "moon in the water" effect.

Wuzhen Grand Theater is a perfect example of modern art blending with the classic water town. At night, the lights and the water complement each other, and the architectural silhouette resembles a dreamlike stage in a play. This is not only the soul of the play but also a profound dialogue between culture and aesthetics. Every performance is a unique artistic feast.

When you leave the East Scenic Area and enter the West Scenic Area, you can see that it is also a crowded place. This is where many tour groups have lunch and rest.
