Wuzhen Xizha - Dragon Shaped Field

乌镇西栅景区-龙形田

The field is named after its shape, which resembles a crouching dragon. Viewed from a high point across the river, it appears to be a living dragon, its head to the west and its tail to the east. Different crops are grown in each season. A clear stream flows beneath the bridge, preventing waterlogging in summer and drying up in winter, thus reaping the benefits of irrigation and drainage.
There is a large white chrysanthemum garden on the north slope of Longxingtian. In the golden autumn of October, the chrysanthemums are in full bloom all over the slope, like a sea of flowers, which contrasts with the rice fields that are about to have a good harvest, and is intoxicating.
If you stay in the ancient town for a few days, you can experience the feeling of hoeing the fields in the middle of the day on this spiritual land and understand the hardships and joys of farming.

The Dragon Field gets its name from its shape, which resembles a crouching dragon. The field is dotted with lotus flowers, some about to bloom, others blooming in a lovely pink, translucent hue. Large dewdrops adorn the lotus leaves, and the expanse of green contrasts with the purple of verbena and sage. The chirping of cicadas creates a summery atmosphere. A cobblestone path separates the verbena and sage fields, and the path is quite muddy. Standing at the edge of the field, one feels as if one has departed from a small, waterside town.

There are rape flowers in the spring, but I can’t see any dragon shapes. It’s just a vegetable field.

By Zimei |

On the way to the White Lotus Pagoda, I came across boundless beauty.

Large patches of lotus and purple verbena complement each other, it is a sea of flowers. Many happy couples take wedding photos here. There is also a big swing on the side where they can swing, it is like a paradise on earth.

I went to Wuzhen in July and didn’t expect that Longxingtian also planted flowers. A large area of purple flowers was very beautiful and suitable for taking pictures.

By Frigidity Bread |

I came across it by chance on the way to Yue Lao Temple. It has a very ancient pastoral style. The uncle said that this is his favorite place after visiting for so long, probably because there is his family's cowshed.

By Lonely Traveler |

The field of Dragon Shaped Field is filled with a large area of purple verbena. Although it is not lavender, it is also very beautiful.

By socialite He Zhiyao of Li Chi |

Haha, I missed the rape flowers, they have all borne fruit, so I can only find a few small red flowers to set off myself

By Backpackers traveling in the South |

Maybe it’s the autumn harvest season and there’s nothing much to see????

By scholar's spirit |

I thought the attractions of Xizha were just on both sides of the river, but there's actually a large open space behind the old street. Walking around in the morning gave me a great view. It seems this is Wuzhen's reserved land, and Xizha still has room for development.

By Wind Blows Wheat Waves |

If you want to see the most beautiful dragon-shaped field, you may have to wait until the flower blooms, which is definitely the most beautiful.

By windl |

Walking through the alley, the alley still retains the distinct Jiangnan waterside charm. As you exit the alley, you're greeted by a blanket of rapeseed blossoms, transforming the scene into a pastoral landscape. The shift was so abrupt that I couldn't react immediately, and some of the girls nearby couldn't help but cheer at the sight. While the rapeseed blossoms in the Dragon Shaped Field aren't quite as vast as the eye can see, they're still quite large. Visitors can be found scattered among them in small groups, making it less crowded. Furthermore, the rapeseed flowers, reaching chest height, create a completely deserted feel with the right angle.

By In a |

It is a large rapeseed field. When I went there, it was already May and the rapeseed flowers had all faded. However, there were still one or two branches. Even without flowers, it felt very open and beautiful.

By Autumn1010 |

Staying in the B&B hotel in Wuzhen Xizha, you can see the dragon-shaped field full of rapeseed flowers from the window. The sunset is very beautiful.

By Sh1na |

The rapeseed field is full, but due to the height, the dragon shape is not very visible.

By Snow 3 Flying Who |

The field is named after its shape, which resembles a crouching dragon. Viewed from a high point across the river, it appears to be a living, breathing dragon, its head to the west and its tail to the east. Different crops are grown here each season. A clear stream flows beneath the bridge, preventing waterlogging in summer and drying up in winter, providing optimal irrigation and drainage. The rapeseed flowers in the Dragon-Shaped Field are in full bloom, making up for the regret of not being able to see them on Jeju Island.

By Wang Yucheng |

It's just a big farmland. It may look like a dragon from the map, but you can't feel it in reality.

By Rain in the third year of the Republic of China |

I heard that Dragon Field used to be a field of rapeseed flowers, but last time I was there, it was all verbena. It was in bloom, and the sea of purple blossoms was stunning, like a quiet, unhurried Provence unique to Wuzhen. Children ran along the path in Dragon Field, catching butterflies, and that summer, so far away from me, suddenly appeared before me.

By Tianjin Girl |

There was a girl who saw a plowing ox and kept exclaiming "Real cows!" You've never seen one before, go and take a look.

By Nanshan |

There is a beautiful sea of flowers in the north of Wuzhen West Gate. Different flowers bloom throughout the year, making it a great place for taking photos.

By Flying flowers like butterflies |

Dragon Shaped Field gave us a surprise, one word to describe it: beautiful!!!

By Xiapu Linsheng |

In fact, you can't see what shape it is when you walk there. There are lavenders planted there in the summer and the scenery is still nice.

By Ningning Toulaya |

It was a very unexpected field. There wasn’t much space and not many people around. Against the backdrop of the setting sun, it looked particularly lazy.

By Happy Life |

Wuzhen offers a combined ticket for the East and West sections of the city for 150 yuan, with shuttle buses free. Tickets for the West section alone are 120 yuan, but I recommend only visiting the West section, as there's not much to see in the East section. The local government has kept the West section open at 9:00 AM to accommodate the East section. The ticket sellers will say the combined ticket is cheaper, so you can visit the East section first and then come back, which is very professional. Not many people go to the East section, though. If you're traveling independently, I recommend staying in a local hotel, such as a budget hotel like the Jia Inn, which is not only cheaper but also much better. There's not much local food, so just eat as much as you can. I hope this helps.

By anjella_w |

It's very beautiful. When I went there, it was the season when rape flowers were in full bloom, a month earlier than the rape flowers in Wuyuan.

In the Xizha Scenic Area, the Dragon-Shaped Field, named after its shape resembling a sleeping dragon, features thatched cottages, pavilions, lotus ponds, irrigation wheels, swings, and a sea of purple flowers.

By tiffany_Naa |

It was very beautiful when I went there during National Day. . . .

By Annoyed little deer |

It's in a remote place and I wouldn't have found it if I hadn't been looking for Yue Lao Temple. The scenery is even better.

By JK_尐貝 |

Beautiful, beautiful, the purple flowers, the pavilion, the sun, so great!

The Dragon-Shaped Field is located in the west section of Wuzhen, northwest of Zhaoming Academy and in the eastern section of the wetland. It's named after its shape, which resembles a crouching dragon. I heard there would be a large field of rapeseed flowers in the spring, but I didn't see any because I went there at the wrong time.

By Spring Water 2015 |

It is said that the Dragon Shaped Field got its name from its shape which resembles a sleeping dragon. You certainly cannot see it when standing on the ground. You may be able to see the shape of a dragon if you find a high place. In fact, it doesn’t matter whether it looks like a dragon or not. The key is that different crops are planted here in all seasons, such as rape flowers, sunflowers, chrysanthemums, etc. The patches of flowers attract tourists and make it a famous tourist attraction. When we went there, it was the rape flower season. The bright yellow rape flowers and the pale purple February orchids bloomed all over the Dragon Shaped Field. From another angle, the White Lotus Tower in the distance became an excellent background. It is not far from here to the Three-Inch Golden Lotus Pavilion.

By Coffee Afternoon Tea |

The Dragon-Shaped Field gets its name from its shape, which resembles a crouching dragon. Viewed from a high point across the river, it appears to be a giant dragon, its head to the west and its tail to the east, a vivid sight. Different crops are grown here each season. A clear stream flows beneath a bridge to the south of the field, ensuring no waterlogging in summer and no drying up in winter, effectively maximizing irrigation and drainage. When I visited, a large field of "whiplash grass" was growing there. As we walked past the Jiangnan town, nestled among rows of small bridges and flowing water, a vast expanse suddenly appeared before us. It was a breathtaking sight, a sudden sense of enlightenment. I couldn't help but let out a cry, running into its embrace and bursting into song. It felt free and unrestrained. Purple flowers swayed in the wind, and in that moment, the world itself became a vibrant purple. That feeling can only be truly experienced in person: that is the Dragon-Shaped Field.

By Piggy's Tiramisu |

I didn't go in, but took some photos at the intersection. The scenery is pretty good. If you bring someone with good photography skills, you can take a lot of beautiful photos inside.

By Meng-M-Meng |

When we went there, verbena was in full bloom, which was quite beautiful. This place is not far from the Three-Inch Golden Lotus Pavilion.

There are many kinds of plants planted here, and each season has different scenery.

By May there be no time to turn back |

It’s best to go during the flowering season, the scenery will be more beautiful!

By The wingless |

Different flower species are planted in the dragon-shaped ladder in different seasons. For example, rapeseed flowers are planted in the rapeseed season, and verbena is planted after June.

Unlike lavender, verbena stands tall and majestic, yet equally captivating with its alluring purple hue, drawing countless beauties to stop and take photos, letting them freely wander through this sea of purple. At sunset, the golden sunlight casts a magical, alluring hue on the sea of purple blossoms, making them appear even more delicate and alluring, adding a touch of splendor to Wuzhen.

Different plants throughout the year. I thought it would be sunflowers this year, but the large areas of verbena are just as beautiful.

The Dragon-Shaped Field in Xizha grows different crops each season. To the south of the field lies a sunny farming bridge, beneath which a gurgling stream flows, ensuring the field remains waterlogged in summer and dry in winter, benefiting from both irrigation and drainage. This time, I visited the Dragon-Shaped Field to see verbena. From a distance, the patches of purple were beautiful. Unfortunately, the rainy roads were muddy, so I couldn't get up close to see them; I could only admire them from afar. I admire those who ventured into the muddy path.

By Cat bones |

The filming location of the first episode of Running Man was actually quite green, but that was all it was.

By Smile. |

I don't know if the Dragon Shaped Field is really in the shape of a dragon. There weren't many flowers there when I went there. This is also where the "Running Man" has been. I believe it must be beautiful when the flowers are in full bloom.

By Yuan Gungun's Popping Candy |

In February and March, rape blossoms are everywhere, which is the most beautiful season.

By Cold air in Shanghai |

On the way, I stopped by to see the Longxing Fields, named for their resemblance to a crouching dragon. From a vantage point across the river, the dragon's head tilts west and its tail east, a truly lifelike sight. Different crops are grown here each season. To the south of the fields lies a Qinggeng Bridge, beneath which a gurgling stream flows, ensuring the fields are neither flooded in summer nor dry in winter, benefiting from the benefits of irrigation and drainage. Wuzhen's Longxing Fields were already famous, but they gained even greater fame thanks to the Running Man show.

As it is the Year of the Sheep, the scenic area has also ingeniously arranged various sheep-shaped lanterns in the fields for tourists to appreciate and take pictures.

By Niu Niu |

From the Dragon Shaped Field, you can see the White Lotus Pagoda in the distance, as well as the newly lit water lanterns and sheep, making the twilight even more colorful.

By Longing for love in the quiet night |

Dragon Shaped Field, a place like a painting, feels like a paradise. It's next to the Three-Inch Golden Lotus Pavilion. There weren't many people when we went, so it felt really beautiful. The years are quiet and peaceful, and this is what peace and tranquility in this world are all about.

By Bell Ringing |

The golden rapeseed flowers are in full bloom in the dragon-shaped field. Tourists walk through it, and the green and red clothes are dotted in it.

By Nana sauce 945 |

During the Qingming Festival, rape flowers and February orchids are in full bloom, and the yellow and purple colors complement each other. It is very suitable to wear bright clothes and pose wildly in the flower fields.

By Shaobai from Wu |

During the Qingming Festival, the dragon-shaped field is full of brilliant rape flowers, which are shaded by February orchids. Behind it are pink walls and black tiles. It is beautiful at that time.

By Xiaoshizi is an Aquarius |

Different plants are planted in the scenic area in different seasons. The last time I went there, it was a little late, and most of the sunflowers had already set seeds and were no longer in bloom! But I can still imagine the scene of them all in full bloom!

By Little Jiajia positive energy |

It's quite big inside. When I went there, they were planting lavender, but I saw that they had started to plant sunflowers. I wonder if it would be a sea of sunflowers if I went there now.

By drizzle |

We came to the "Dragon Field", which is said to be in the shape of a dragon, but I couldn't see it clearly. The staff said that it looks better in March and April every year, but now they are all withered and there are no sunflowers.

By Current M |

Have you ever wondered what a vast expanse of sunflowers looks like? Here they are! This was my first time seeing so many sunflowers. I'll definitely come back to see some lavender next time I get the chance.

By There are two people in the world |

The legendary Dragon Field, but I can't see any dragons. Is it just crooked? Or is it the wrong season?

Wuzhen Dragon-Shaped Field: Standing beside the Dragon-Shaped Field, you can feel a moment of tranquility and be instantly touched;

Opposite the White Lotus Tower, the scenery is beautiful and unique. It is suitable for visiting during the day and taking photos when passing by.

By Jin Chen is not a genius |

Dragon-shaped fields, rapeseed flowers and February orchids are in full bloom this season! For me, who grew up in the north, this was my first time seeing rapeseed flowers... I had always wanted to go to Luoping, Yunnan to see the rapeseed flower sea, and I didn't expect to see it in Wuzhen. Although the area is far smaller than Luoping's... but playing cards, looking at the tower in the distance, and the surrounding Hui-style buildings, I felt like I was in Wuyuan...

By Chen Momo and Xia Tian |

Dragon-shaped field, probably because of the change of seasons, I didn't see any plants planted

By miss_meow |

The Dragon-Shaped Field. As the name suggests, the shape is best seen from a bird's eye view. A closer look reveals it's filled with sunflowers, a dazzling sea of golden color in bloom.

By blue sky |

In April in the south of the Yangtze River, spring comes and goes. The large wetland behind Zhaoming Academy is a perfect season for spring. The entire dragon-shaped field is filled with golden rapeseed flowers, the grass is soft and fluffy, and the wind is gentle. Sitting on this beautiful swing, swinging leisurely, letting thoughts fly, how can you describe the comfort with just one word "beautiful"?

By color |

I wandered into a deserted alleyway, and suddenly the world fell silent. As I savored the tranquility, I was suddenly greeted by a dragon-shaped field reminiscent of Tao Yuanming's idyllic paradise. When we visited, there were no tourists, only farmers toiling in the fields. Nearby, a low patch of lavender, not yet fully bloomed, carried a faint, intoxicating fragrance. In the distance, clusters of lotus blossoms filled the air, and reeds swayed in the wind by the pond's edge. The water was perfectly still, and a specially designed wooden plank path allowed visitors to immerse themselves in the water and admire the delicate beauty of the lotus blossoms.

By CheesElyee |

First, there's a lotus pond by the roadside—it's also large and beautiful. But the sunflowers in the background completely steal the show, and the lotus flowers are relegated to a supporting role. Whether it's shocking or not, I'm captivated. Such a vast field of sunflowers, my camera can't capture them all. It's so beautiful! Compared to this, the few sunflowers I planted seem like nothing.

By |

Passing by a sunflower field, it hasn't been repaired yet and the sunflowers have already withered. It should be very beautiful in the summer, with sunflowers holding their heads high. It looks like a farmhouse scene. There are cows, fields, and reeds in the distance. This is different from other ancient towns. I really want to see Xizha in different seasons.

By TIME |

There are vast fields of sunflowers in the dragon-shaped field. Sunflowers are my favorite flower, so seeing them makes me so happy. When the sun first rises, the sunflowers all look dejected. Then, they slowly lift their heads toward the sun, becoming vibrant. There's something beautiful about flowers facing the sun. There's a light I chase after. Sunflowers, too, are happy, I guess.
