Ziyang Street runs from north to south and is named after Zhang Boduan, the founder of the Southern School of Taoism and the Ziyang Zhenren. It is 1,080 meters long and is the most prosperous commercial district in the history of Taizhou Prefecture. It is also one of the relatively well-preserved historical districts in China.

By Happyhour |

Like other ancient streets in ancient cities, the commercial atmosphere is too strong, with snack shops everywhere. However, the construction and atmosphere of the ancient street are still good. You can enjoy yourself while walking around, taking pictures and checking in in the unique alleys and in front of the houses.

Ziyang Ancient Street is part of Linhai's 5A-rated tourist attraction. The name "Ziyang" originates from the Taoist priest Ziyang. We arrived at Ziyang Street early in the morning. While the street was deserted, the buildings on either side were quite distinctive, with sculptures and seating, and even the pagodas of Jinshan Mountain visible.

A very quiet, local old street. The people who live here are people who live here, not people who come here to make a living. This is the authentic Linhai Ancient Street, not a nationally standardized old street. It is a place where locals live, not a place for tourists.

Part of Taizhou Ancient City, the small city is not big, and the construction industry in the ancient street is good.

By Xiang Yun |

The commercial atmosphere is not strong, the folk customs are simple, and it is suitable for sightseeing

Ziyang Ancient Street is similar to other ancient streets in China, but it has a special feature: the night view is particularly beautiful. At the end of the ancient street is Taizhou City, which is equivalent to the city wall. At night, you don’t need to enter the city wall to walk up the wall and overlook the night view of the ancient street. It is a very good perspective.

A well-preserved and developed ancient street with historical traces and local snacks. You can spend an hour strolling around...

By The journey of finding the key |

A must-try snack on Ziyang Street is that many of the local snacks are famous. There's egg white lamb tail, plum blossom cake, and fish cakes, which are made in a very simple way. They're made by peeling four or five whole fresh shrimp, adding minced meat and chopped green onions, then coating them in flour and pan-frying them. The result is a truly delicious dish, combining the aroma of pork with the crisp, chewy texture of seafood.

Even late at night, people are still lining up to buy the pickled shrimp. At eight yuan each, it's not expensive, so the line is long. Just looking at the freshly-cooked shrimp makes you hungry. The fillings are all spilling out. A bite is filled with glistening oil and a fragrant aroma. You can easily eat several in one sitting.

This old street also has various groceries, umbrellas, bamboo products, and a shop that I went to last time that sold scales. There are all kinds of them, which is really amazing, like Jiangnan Badaling. Scales are also very good as gifts.

Ziyang Street isn't too long, and you can complete it in about two hours. It's a lovely ancient street with plenty to see, preserving many quaint buildings and local history. Seaweed pancakes are a common sight on Ziyang Street, with the most famous being No. 99. The lines are long every day, and the food is delicious, making it worth a try. Ziyang Street connects to a section of the ancient Great Wall, so be sure to arrive early to complete your visit.

Linhai is a well-preserved ancient street. It is a city with a rich history and was once the seat of Taizhou. I often go to this place to take pictures when I take photos. Although it is quite far, about dozens of kilometers away, I feel that driving for an hour to take pictures is also worth it.

[Location] The main street in Linhai Ancient City, enter from Xingshan Gate and go north.

[Attractions] There are city gates at both ends along the way, five memorial archways (fire prevention) in the middle, and a large drum in the middle. The old building of the Taizhou branch of the People's Bank of China.

[Shopping] The street is lined with shops selling a variety of Linhai specialty snacks, as well as some shops selling accessories and daily necessities, as well as wine shops, scale shops, etc. It is very rich.

Food: Old streets are generally full of food, like wheat shrimp, lamb feet, and egg white lamb tails—all of these "greasy" names are just different ways to cook with flour. The egg white lamb tails are delicious, but unfortunately, you can't take them home. There's also a variety of handmade seaweed pancakes, ginger candies, and more. Drinks include grass paste, which is similar to tortoise jelly.

I like this place very much. The tourist atmosphere is light and what I see is the real life of the small town.

I went there mainly to buy seaweed cakes, which were very fragrant and worth a try.

The ancient street is easy to find. It is a very long street. Food and snacks are still very cheap. It has a strong commercial atmosphere, but it is still worth recommending. It should be nice to take pictures with fewer people!

"Ziyang Street" was named according to the Tang and Song dynasty lifang system, with sections designated as streets but no names. According to the "Linhai County Administrative Suburb Map" compiled in the revised "Draft of Linhai County Chronicles" in 1934, this street has no recorded name. Instead, it was referred to by historical sites, personal names, and place names. The street's northern end was Huangfang Bridge, its southern end Lanxiu Tower, and the middle section, from north to south, was known as Ziyang Palace, Yidongtian, Fengxianfang, Shizijiekou, Yingxianfang, Baitaqiaotou, Fang Yiren, Deqingxiangkou, Paimenzhou, Laxiangkou, Anletian, and Tanxing Street, among over 50 other place names. It wasn't until the 1940s that it was nicknamed "Zhongzheng Street," commonly known as "Old Street." After liberation, it was renamed "Jiefang Street." In 1998, it received its current name in commemoration of Zhang Boduan, the founder of the Southern School of Taoism and a native of Ziyang. On the screen wall at the north end of Ziyang Street, there is the inscription "Hometown of Ziyang" written by Ren Jiyu, the former director of the Beijing Library and a master of Chinese studies.

Ziyang Street is a renowned historical and cultural street in China and the most prestigious ancient street in Zhejiang Province. At 1,080 meters long and 4 to 5 meters wide, it runs north-south through the ancient city district, making it the longest and best-preserved historic street in China. Along both sides of the street are numerous shops, including pharmacies, dyeing workshops, teahouses, and restaurants, each exuding a captivating charm. This is the most remarkable ancient street I have ever encountered, steeped in culture and history, a true testament to the history of Linhai, a millennium-old city and a hallmark of this renowned historical and cultural city. Ziyang Ancient Street's most distinctive feature are its five "fangs": Wuzhenfang, Fengxianfang, Yingxianfang, Qinghefang, and Yongjingfang. These tell the story of Ziyang Street's prosperous past and form a unique scenic feature. These fangs serve as fire walls. During the 35 years between the sixth year of Emperor Xianfeng's reign (1856) and the seventeenth year of Emperor Guangxu's reign (1891), Ziyang Street experienced two devastating fires, causing devastating damage. Later, the prefect, Li Mingwu, researched fire prevention measures and allocated funds to build nine fire walls. Each wall was 31 feet high, between 34 and 56 feet wide, and 1.5 feet thick. The archways were 14 feet high. Wells were later dug next to the fire walls to store water for firefighting purposes.

Gazing at the surviving charm of the old dwellings, wandering through the narrow, quaint alleys, and stepping on the bluestone slabs of Ziyang Street, it feels as if a thousand years of ancient charm and the passage of history flow beneath your feet, allowing you to truly experience the profound historical and cultural heritage of this ancient city. Although I would like to walk slowly and appreciate it carefully, time cannot hold my pace, and I can only wait for our next encounter.

One of the three major scenic spots in Linhai, it has a very ancient flavor. Especially the square gate, which is made of blue bricks and looks deliberately leisurely.

There's a strikingly unconventional ancient street in China. Connected to the Great Wall, it's been a center of wealth in southeastern China, from its heyday during the Han and Tang dynasties to the Republic of China. Perhaps ancient towns and streets are a characteristic of Jiangnan, like Zhejiang Province itself, a large family. My eldest brother's Hangzhou family boasts the Wenyuan Lion City Ancient Street in Qiandao Lake; my second brother's Ningbo family boasts Nantang Old Street. Speaking of renowned destinations, we have to mention Xitang and Wuzhen, home to my sister in Jiaxing; and Nanxun, home to my younger sister in Huzhou. And for Taizhou, Ziyang Ancient Street is a must-see.

"The mountains and rivers have left their mark on the landscape, and we, the generation, are here to visit again." Linhai's Ziyang Street, stretching 1,080 meters from north to south, is filled with countless historical sites, captivating visitors. The wells lining Ziyang Street are a major feature of the street's history. Numerous ancient wells, some dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties, have weathered two or three hundred years of vicissitudes, while others date back to the Republican era. Each well embodies the unique characteristics of the Jiangnan water towns, varying in depth, generally over three meters. Their water is sweet, clear, warm in winter, and cool in summer, nourishing generations of people. Along this street, the wells serve both domestic water supply and fire prevention.

In contrast, it's more in tune with everyday life. People today, too used to the concrete and steel of cities, crave a return to nature and explore quaint, pristine streets. Ziyang Ancient Street is a must-see. The street itself is sparsely populated, giving it a distinct character. Those who haven't been to Taizhou might be surprised by the exquisite scales (used for weighing things) here; they're truly exquisite.

Finally, we arrived at Ziyang Ancient Street in Linhai.

There is a pedestrian street about 500 meters long

Surrounded by extended former residential areas

You will accidentally meet an old lady taking a walk in the evening at the next street corner.

Still the same life

Still the rhythm of sunset

Now, several small shops are locked.

Mulan tried candied haws and seaweed cakes for the first time. Desserts are indeed a woman’s favorite.

It really is Taizhou with seaweed flavor, great!

Ziyang Ancient Street

Although Ziyang Ancient Street is still a snack street and facilities such as the Folk Culture Exhibition Hall are not yet complete, the local authorities are very aware of sustainable development: they focus on protecting old wooden buildings, prohibit shops from using gas, and restrict the entry of outside restaurants. Only a few restaurants that were set up in the street before development are retained.

One is "Zi Yang Lean Meat Balls". The lady who runs this shop is very nice. I talked to her for a long time about local development issues. The honey chicken wings she makes are especially delicious. There are only one or two local restaurants (special snacks: Linhai Mai Shrimp), and their business is booming. Most of them are gourmet specialties made by local craftsmen (seaweed cakes, egg white lamb tails, pear paste candy, ginger candy, etc.).

(P.S. If you like the taste, feel free to buy some to take away. There is no such store after this village. It is rare to see such specialties sold in other scenic spots~~)

Ziyang Ancient Street, founded in the Song Dynasty, boasts a long history, reaching its peak during the Ming, Qing, and Republican eras. Named after the "Ziyang Zhenren," the ancient streets, houses, and alleyways retain a touch of ancient charm. While the street is less commercial, enjoy local snacks like crispy and fragrant seaweed pancakes and soft, fragrant fried lamb tails. These snacks are best enjoyed while hot, as they are not easy to transport, so they are best enjoyed locally.

By Bamboo dew and light rain |

Ziyang Ancient Street is the entrance from the exit of Jiangnan Great Wall. The whole street is quite long and has various snacks, literary shops, old shops, etc. It is worth a visit.

By backup |

We went there directly from the Jiangnan Great Wall. The old street was still under renovation, and the streets were crowded and narrow. The seaweed pancakes were delicious (we waited in line for an hour). Unfortunately, we got there a little late, and as a bank card practitioner, we didn't go to the Taizhou branch of the People's Bank of China.

By Don't stir up a hornet's nest |

This long street, packed with shops, is full of life. There are many old workshops and trades. There are two small attractions with free admission. Swallows' nests are found under the eaves of the old houses, and you can often see swallows flying among the pedestrians. This old street is full of flavor! It's worth a visit.

Linhai Ziyang Street is the first ancient street in Zhejiang Province and a microcosm of this ancient city. It still basically maintains the original architecture and has an antique charm, but it is also similar to the ancient streets you usually visit, which is too commercialized.

This old street is almost completely uncommercialized and full of life. You can peek outside the door to see old people playing mahjong and masters cutting hair using traditional methods... I recommend Wanjun Kitchen near Baita Bridge. The environment is clean, and the beef, wheat shrimp, and fried rice cakes are all delicious!

It's a very tasteful ancient street, well preserved. If you want to eat Taizhou's local snacks, you can find a lot of them here. I personally like it.

Ziyang Ancient Street is an old street in Linhai, now a great place for souvenir shopping. You can buy delicious and inexpensive seaweed pancakes, priced at 1.2 yuan each. The seaweed pancakes are generously filled, and both hot and cold offer a unique flavor. I bought two postcards, one for the Linhai Jiangnan Great Wall and one for Ziyang Ancient Street, but couldn't find a mailbox. I happened to run into a student group on my way there, which disturbed the tranquility of the ancient street. It would have been nice to spend the afternoon enjoying a cup of coffee in a small cafe. However, since it was a spring outing organized by our company, we had to leave early, which was a bit of a shame.

I really feel it's just average~ I went there based on the recommendation, and was criticized by my friends. I drove for an hour and it turned out to be very different from the ancient town I imagined. There were not many people there on Sunday, and it was very desolate. There were only old grandpas and grandmas sitting in front of their homes to bask in the sun, and there were only a few kinds of food to eat back and forth~ It's not as good as the old houses near my home, and they look almost the same-_-|| However, I still recommend Linhai Maixia. We went there just for the Maixia, haha~ There is also Liangpi, Liangpi, which is near the ancient street and is super to my taste~ and it's clean. If you want to eat nearby, just search on Meituan and you will find it, the one with 5 points~

I actually passed by this city but quickly realized how much I regretted not having included it on my itinerary. I had no idea there was such a well-preserved ancient town. The style here is actually very similar to that of a water town, but water towns are usually found in remote areas, so it's rare to find such a large collection of ancient buildings in a city. It's also been meticulously maintained, unlike some places that appear new; this place retains its original charm. The basic layout is probably very similar to that of the Qing Dynasty, and the ancient streets are not overly commercialized, truly living up to the name. The houses in the last picture are absolutely captivating. For those visiting Taizhou, I strongly recommend spending half a day in this small town to relive the charm of old Jiangnan.

By carbon |

I came here for this ancient street. Compared to a few years ago, the old street now has too much commercial atmosphere. Linhai people are rich. Unlike Pingyao in Shanxi, they make a living from tourism. The architecture here is no less than Pingyao. It took me nearly an hour to find the noodle shop I like. It was still the same simple decoration. A small roadside shop. A tea shop owner nearby told me that he often couldn't help but eat a bowl of it. Don't tell me, an outsider.

By Iron Iverson |

I've walked Ziyang Street countless times, and I never get tired of it :-D (maybe it's my hometown). There are fun things to do and delicious food to eat. Although the ancient street has undergone a major renovation, it's not overly commercialized. It's open, with no designated areas and no entrance fee. Recommended restaurants: Baitaqiao Restaurant (an old restaurant, very famous locally, although the environment and service are not very good), Shuangping Maixia, Shizijie Jianshui Noodles, and Fanghua Noodles. There are also some great coffee shops. Linhai's specialties like egg white lamb tail, plum blossom cake, black rice glutinous rice cake, and seaweed cake can all be found here, but the vendors are so crowded that it's a matter of luck whether you can get the authentic ones (for egg white lamb tail, I recommend Baitaqiao Restaurant, and for seaweed cakes, Jiujiu Bakery). Besides the food, there are also many fun things to do, so you can discover them on your own. During the week, it's not crowded, and the residents (mostly the elderly) live a leisurely life. But during holidays, the crowds are huge, and I love to wander into the hidden alleys. (Just remember not to disturb the residents!) Hahahaha

PS: Ziyang Street is very close to the Jiangnan Great Wall and East Lake.

By grace |

Facing an entrance to the Jiangnan Great Wall, there are some shops inside. The ancient street is not very long. When I went there, it was almost dusk and many shops were closed, so I felt it was just average.

Generally speaking, the scenery is OK and you can play for half an hour.

By Xiao Tong, the eldest mother |

It happened to rain that day, making it inconvenient to travel.

By Meat, meat, meat |

The entire ancient street can be seen on the Jiangnan Great Wall. It can be reached from the exit of the ancient Great Wall. It is a relatively old street with an uneven, rough and cracked bluestone road surface. The houses and shops also show the layout of ancient buildings. They are all shops opened by ordinary people. There is not as strong commercial atmosphere as Lijiang. The freshly baked seaweed cakes are delicious. 10 pieces cost only 12 yuan, which is cheap and good. I also like the taste of kumquat peel in the plum cake. Ziyang Street in the rain has the tranquility that belongs to the ancient street itself. There are countless ancient monuments on the street. Years have passed by with the dripping of raindrops on the eaves of the houses. Walking on this street full of historical atmosphere, I am often brought back to that distant era. I miss it very much every time I think of it.

Ziyang Street, the oldest street in Taizhou, Zhejiang, epitomizes the millennium-old city and symbolizes its rich history and culture. Its boundless charm remains undimmed by the vicissitudes of time. Walking along the street, one can't help but feel its history and local customs.

Ziyang Ancient Street, located beside the Jiangnan Great Wall and at the foot of Jinzi Mountain, is named in honor of Zhang Boduan, the founder of the Southern School of Taoism. Walking through it is truly fascinating, and it feels like walking through a time tunnel. The sights, objects, and people on this street bring me back to the 1960s and 1970s.

By Little A's heart is far away |

This is a well-preserved ancient street that is not commercialized at all. It has a warm urban atmosphere that makes people feel as if they are back to their grandmother's home when they were young.

By "Shang" is good |

Ziyang Street is well-known, but in reality it lacks inner beauty. It lacks a strong cultural foundation and is overly commercial.

By Traveling across China |

Linhai was originally the administrative center of Taizhou, but later relocated. Ziyang Ancient Street has been meticulously preserved. Yes, many people might associate the word "Ziyang" with Ziyang Zhenren. Indeed, there are relics of Ziyang Zhenren, the founder of Song Dynasty Taoism, here. Walking down the street does feel like a theatrical experience, with two-story attics, and the fear that Pan Jinlian might leave a token by opening the windows. The old street still has a charming atmosphere. Qi Jiguang once fought against Japanese pirates here. The old street is connected by mountains on one side and a river on the other. The city walls have been meticulously restored, and you can still imagine the scenes of the battle against the pirates.

When you go to Linhai, the Ziyang Ancient Street is worth visiting. It has preserved the original and simple people of that time without commercialization. In today's materialistic society, it is rare to have such a place. Let's not follow the crowd and feel the most primitive things.

I really like this ancient street. Unlike the ones in Chengdu, it's not very commercialized, which I really like. The seaweed pancakes here are delicious, hehe. It's cheaper to buy a combined ticket for Ziyang Ancient Street, Linhai Ancient Great Wall, and East Lake Park.

Ziyang Ancient Street boasts a thousand-year history and is the best-preserved street in Linhai's old town. Named after Zhang Boduan, the Taoist master of Ziyang, it stretches approximately 1.2 kilometers from Wuzhenfang in the north to Xingshanmen in the south. The street is well-preserved, with shops now operating in some of the residential areas along the street, becoming increasingly scarce as you move north. These shops primarily sell Linhai specialties such as seaweed cakes, creating a relaxed atmosphere. Weekends are less crowded and less crowded. The street boasts the former Taizhou branch of the People's Bank of China, the Fang Yiren Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the Lu Xun Exhibition Hall, all free of charge. The street is divided into five "fangs," separated by semicircular walls with doorways, creating a quaint atmosphere.

[Transportation] The ancient street is located in the center of Linhai Old Town. If you drive, you can park in the nearby open space and then walk around.

[Tickets] There is no entrance fee to the ancient street, and all museums and exhibition halls in this area are open to the public free of charge.

[Service] The open ancient street has few services, and the transportation and sanitation conditions are unsatisfactory.

This ancient street has a wonderful atmosphere, and like most ancient streets, it's full of quaint charm. It's paved with bluestone, and its narrow streets and alleys are quite narrow. It's best to arrive around 9:00 a.m. to experience the tranquility of the ancient town and witness the street's awakening. The streets are so interconnected that it's easy to get lost, especially for someone like me who has a poor sense of direction...

The people in the ancient street are very relaxed, and almost every household has beautiful plants planted. Commercialization is not as serious as in Lijiang. I went there in spring, and the beautiful colors and the swallows that occasionally flew over the heads of passers-by made the ancient street full of vitality. The shop owners there are also very kind. A small shop, a little incense, and a cup of tea, with a calm and peaceful attitude, greets every passerby.

Besides the famous Jiujiu Seaweed Pancakes, I was also pleasantly surprised by the decor of some of the small shops along the street. They perfectly blend a touch of joy, fashion, and simplicity into the street, so that you won't feel that this ancient street is too rigid.

By Clever Little Wall Dong |

Going down from the exit of the Great Wall is Ziyang Old Street. The actual street is much smaller than what I saw on China-TravelNote before. It is a very narrow alley with some small gadgets that are very common in tourist attractions, but they don’t arouse any interest in buying.

Ziyang Street, the most ancient street in Zhejiang Province, epitomizes the millennium-old city and symbolizes its historic and cultural heritage. "The mountains and rivers have left their mark on the landscape, and we, the generation, are here to visit again." Linhai's Ziyang Street, stretching 1,080 meters from north to south, boasts numerous historical sites. There's a stone tablet commemorating Zhang Boduan, the founder of Southern School Taoism in the Song Dynasty, as well as the Ziyang Bridge and Ziyang Archway. There are also the Ziyang Hometown and the ruins of Ziyang Palace, where the foundation stone of the original south gate archway is well-preserved. The remains of the "Five Phoenix Archway," erected in the 19th year of the Ming Dynasty by five successful candidates, namely, Wu Zhiyu, Peng Shihuan, Wang Ruchun, Zhang Yingke, and Xu Ziyu, still remain. The wells lining Ziyang Street are a prominent feature of the street's historical sites. There are many ancient wells, some of which were built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and have gone through two or three hundred years of vicissitudes of life, and some were built in the Republic of China. Each ancient well is full of the characteristics of the Jiangnan water town. The depth of the wells is different, generally more than 3 meters. The water is sweet and clear, warm in winter and cool in summer, and has nurtured generations of people.

I got my room card and quickly returned to the room. The first thing I did was shower! There were no facilities for washing up in the mountains, and I was sweating profusely after walking all morning. I was really exhausted. After showering, I lay in bed for over an hour and felt a little better. Then, let's go to Ziyang Ancient Street~

Everyone knows the one on the left; it's just stinky tofu, nothing local. The drink on the right is something called "caohu" (grass paste), which has a hint of Chinese medicinal flavor, but I didn't really like it. I also saw something called "cao geng" on the way, but it didn't look very appetizing, so I didn't try it.

The Old Street, named after Zhang Boduan, the founder of the Southern School of Taoism, is one of the most well-preserved historical streets in China. With its quaint buildings and numerous shops, it remains bustling and prosperous even today. The numerous "fang" (shopping areas) near Ziyang Street have become a scenic feature of the old neighborhood.

Ziyang Ancient Street still maintains its prosperity, with shops lining both sides of the street, and most of the seaside delicacies can be found here.

It is recommended to find a small restaurant to have lunch and slowly experience the flavor of the old street. In fact, the elderly are the masters of the old street. They are familiar with every detail of the old street, which is vivid and delicate.

By Enjoy Drinking Flowing Clouds |

It is basically a commercial pedestrian street, which retains some traditional buildings. You can stroll around and do some shopping.

I had heard that it was not a crowded place, but when I got there it was still packed with people. It was similar to other ancient streets and did not have any special features.

By Do nothing without pleasure |

Last weekend I went to Linhai and visited Ziyang Ancient Street.

The scenery is okay, but the snacks are a bit disappointing.

By Lost in the wind |

Take the bus all the way to Taizhou Hospital and then turn left. There are snacks along the way. The old street is very quiet. There are elderly people living there. They sit in front of their homes, basking in the sun and chatting about family matters.

This place has been relatively well preserved and not crowded with tourists.

It is worth a walk every time you come back. Now you can walk all the way to Jiangbin Road and enjoy the cool breeze.

You can also see the residents there taking a walk along the river after dinner, creating a new atmosphere of life.

Ziyang Street is different; it's a genuine old street. Every flagstone on Ziyang Street's pavement bears a trace of history, a history deeply etched into the stone by human feet. Standing on it, you instantly grasp it. Every grain of the wooden-fronted houses on either side of the street bears a trace of history, a history discolored or even decayed by the elements. Confronted, you instantly sense its distinctness from modern imitations. Each of the quiet residents of Ziyang Street embodies a piece of history, a history etched into a circle and then eroded by time. But through their gentle steps, calm gazes, and peaceful demeanors, you can sense the history truly written by people.

Ziyang Street, over a kilometer long, lies in the western part of Linhai City, Zhejiang Province. It connects to the Linhai Ancient Great Wall in the south and reaches Guangwen Road in the north. Although the street shares the same history as the city itself, it was only officially named Ziyang Street in 1998. The name Ziyang commemorates Zhang Boduan (Ziyang Zhenren), the founder of the Southern School of Taoism during the Northern Song Dynasty. Previously, the street had various names, many of which were derived from historical sites or personal names.

Under the drizzling autumn rain, I strolled through these historic streets, instantly permeated by the unique atmosphere of the ancient Jiangnan city. Everything about this place inadvertently slowed my pace, letting my feet lead me to admire every corner. A simple window frame, a mottled bamboo stool, a pot of steaming buns, a basket of freshly fried dough sticks, a narrow alleyway—everything ignited my passion for exploration. The people strolling with umbrellas, their tranquil, Schumann-like mood, infected me even more. The hustle and bustle of the big city, its competition, its intrigues, was instantly forgotten, as if my soul were being cleansed by the cool autumn rain.

Strolling along this ancient street, I always feel like I've traveled back in time, constantly transported to distant past times by the relics scattered throughout. The lifelike wax figures at the ruins of the People's Bank of China almost make me hear the twang of abacus beads. The narrow alleys beneath the carved window panes make me wonder if a scholar in a kerchief might appear. The ringing of passing bicycle bells transports me back to my youth...

On Monday, the old street was practically empty of tourists. Everywhere I looked, I saw locals. I particularly enjoy old streets like this: peaceful and quiet, the passage of time slipping away beneath the eaves of the houses. When the weather cleared, the elderly came out, setting up small stools in front of their houses to bask in the sun and take a nap. The sense of life made the old street feel even more approachable.

I visited Ziyang Old Street in the afternoon. The weather was overcast and it was the weekend, so there were quite a lot of people on the old street.

A grandfather said that the things on the old street are still very good. Some of them have been processed later, but most of them still maintain their original appearance.

The only postcard shop on Old Street is located at 28 Ziyang Street. The lady who runs the shop is very friendly and helpful. I left her contact information (QQ: 445033421). Her oranges are also very good, much cheaper than those sold outside, and the taste is just as good! I mailed five postcards to her that afternoon and sent one to myself. The only remaining coffee shop on Old Street is called Ka Yu, though it's a bit pricey. I had some coffee and read a book there, leaving a lasting impression.

There used to be a store run by a foreigner called Champs Elysees, but unfortunately it closed down.

Ziyang Ancient Street is located in the Jiangnan Great Wall Scenic Area in Linhai. Its long-accumulated folk customs, cultural connotations, and ancient famous shops show infinite charm.

Generally speaking, there aren't many people walking on Ziyang Street. Unlike Xitang and Wuzhen, which have been overdeveloped, it still retains its ancient style.

Maybe due to time constraints, we went there too early and many shops were not open. But actually, I can only say that the commercial atmosphere here is not particularly strong, and many people live on this street.

The wells lining Ziyang Street are a major feature of the street's history. Each well, distinct in depth, embodies the unique characteristics of the Jiangnan water towns. The water is sweet, clear, and warm in winter and cool in summer. I still remember my grandfather teaching me how to draw water from the wells. It was no easy feat, and it took a while for me to learn!

The place is called Ziyang Hometown, in the Linhai Ancient City of Taizhou City. However, unlike the hometown of Lu Xun and the hometown of so-and-so, which have been processed to commemorate celebrities, this is actually an old street, an old street where people live.

This time I went to Ziyang's hometown alone. In fact, I can take pictures quietly when I go there, unlike a quick tour with friends. There are no tickets and no commercial bars, special restaurants and hotels. In fact, if you like photography, there may be a lot of things to record here, but it is not suitable for leisure travel.

The ancient tiles are covered with fine raindrops, giving off a unique flavor of Jiangnan scenery.

This is an ancient street that I really like. It is not commercialized at all. I really like it. The ancient streets I visited in Chengdu have been completely commercialized, and it really feels meaningless.

It is rare to see modern shops in the ancient city.

I saw a kind of lotus on the street that was very beautiful, purple, and grown in a water tank.

Known as "Zhejiang's No. 1 Ancient Street," it's a well-deserved title! Getting there: Ziyang Ancient Street is within the Jiangnan Great Wall Scenic Area. Simply ascend the Jiangnan Great Wall in Linhai and walk until you see Ziyang Ancient Street. Alternatively, take bus No. 202 or other buses from the Linhai Passenger Transport Center and get off at Taizhou Hotel for direct access to the ancient street.

The archways that have stood for thousands of years and the big red lanterns on both sides of the stone roads silently welcome people who come to Ziyang Ancient Street.

Ziyang Old Street is full of places to eat. You can just find a small shop and sit down to have lunch.

The specialties of the old street are probably seaweed pancakes and donkey hoof cakes. Lunch: square wontons and snails, totaling 22 yuan.

After lunch, walk along the old street and feel the culture of the old street. (I later learned that the Jiangnan Ancient Great Wall

The final stop is right here in the Old Street. So you can visit the other half of the Old Street after you finish climbing the Great Wall.

Just walk half of the old street. There's no point in walking through it again.)

Ziyang Ancient Street, my friend took me to find delicious food in Linhai~

The locals make ginger candy, sesame candy, and mint candy using traditional methods. I bought some and they tasted pretty good.

The local specialty food - Mai Xia, a bit like the noodles I've eaten, with plenty of ingredients, delicious soup, and delicious~~~

It was the last day of the long holiday and it was drizzling, so there were few people on the road.

The eaves with red lanterns hanging on them exude an ancient charm at first glance.

The local people’s handwritten couplets say, “Good fortune comes with spring.” I like the sense of success behind them.

The People's Bank of China in the early days of the People's Republic of China was decorated in the style of that era, and exhibited the first generation of RMB with a face value of 10,000.

I strolled along Huipu Road to Ziyang Ancient Street. The Baita Bridge Restaurant was right at the intersection, but it was crowded and a bit messy, so I gave up. I went a little further, past the intersection (Jinshan Road) and a little further to Heji Private Kitchen. I ordered traditional stir-fried pork slices, a three-fresh hot pot, salt and pepper potato balls, sweet and sour pork ribs, and a side dish. The sweet and sour pork ribs were not very good.
