La Jolla Cove

La Jolla's coastline, winding through a natural canyon, is considered a jewel of the California coastline. The water here is crystal clear, and the area is dotted with bizarre reefs and islands, where a variety of birds gather. It's the perfect spot for a relaxing stroll and watching the sunset. Many people love the Children's Pool area, a small beach surrounded by a seawall. Originally intended as a swimming area, it gradually silted up and became a beach. Groups of wild sea lions sleep on the beach and reefs here. Pelicans and sea lions often share the reef, but they always coexist peacefully, unlike the sea lions who often fight for territory. Water sports enthusiasts can also enjoy snorkeling and swimming.

La Jolla Cove has plenty of parking right on the road, and I was lucky enough to find a spot near the grassy area in no time. From a distance, I thought the coast was all rocky, so I headed down in my Cole Haan shoes. Who could have imagined a small beach awaiting me? I happily took off my shoes and stood in the ocean, feeling the coolness of the water lapping against my skin.

By Liu Maodu |

La Jolla Beach was azure and breezy, neither too hot nor too cold, neither too dry nor too wet—it was absolutely wonderful! Sea lions basked in the sun on the rocky shore, a sight to behold in the photos. However, the odor was incredibly sour, and many tourists gathered to take photos of the sea lions. While the sea lions weren't afraid of people, they would whimper and warn if you got too close. In the distance, you could see some sea lions frolicking in the waves. The rocky shore was so steep and jagged, it was hard to tell how they managed to get up there. If you see a sea lion lazily raising its tail, stay away; the "hot spring" was incredibly stinky!

It's a beautiful beach. You can see seagulls, seals, and walruses up close. There is also a large lawn, which is very suitable for children to run and play here.

By Seaweed is too salty |

Known as San Diego's most beautiful beach, this spot boasts lazy seals and reserved seabirds. The ocean breeze sways the waves, and surfboards pile up on the surface.

The wealthy areas of SD are indeed beautiful and romantic, with interesting animals. It is much better than downtown SD.

By cillllllling |

This beach was the most surprising place. I originally just wanted to watch the sunset, but ended up seeing so many sea lions! It was so fun! Even now when I think back to that beach, I still smell the fishy smell of the sea.

By Zhong Xiaoying |

This place is famous for its abundance of seals and sea lions. We didn't see any seals, but we did see many sea lions sunbathing on the rocks. You can walk up and observe them up close, but touching them is prohibited. It was a real treat to see the sea lions so close! The smell here is definitely more natural, with a strong fishy aroma...

There are also various seabirds here, and they are not afraid of sea lions or people at all. The waves here are really big, and there are people swimming and diving there. It is also nice to swim with sea lions.

If I had enough time, I would really like to stay here for a whole day, sit in a restaurant by the sea, drink coffee, feel the sea breeze, and watch the waves.

It's well worth a visit. We initially thought there were only seals. How do you tell the difference between sea lions and seals? The group on the rocks, with their unspotted skin, a slightly foul odor, and a donkey-like braying sound, are sea lions, while the group lying on the beach next door, with their spotted skin and silent voices, are seals. They come ashore every day to rest and regulate their body temperature. Some lazily bask in the sun, some drag their fat bodies and writhe on the ground, and still others, oblivious to the surroundings, are soundly asleep. They are so adorable and blissful.

The beach here is incredibly beautiful, with waves crashing constantly against the shore and the water, a blend of green and blue, incredibly clear. Walking down to the bay, you can see sea lions lazily lounging on the rocks, enjoying the sun. Seeing the sea lions made Grandma realize this must be La Jolla Cove.

By Jennie |

When we arrived in La Jolla, all our fatigue was conquered by the unparalleled sea view. At the seaside, everything coexists harmoniously: the blue sky, the sea, the beach, the seabirds, the sea lions, the people playing in the water, and the gliders flying overhead from time to time.

By Look around |

This is a beautiful bay with steep cliffs, caves and reefs. Sea lions and seabirds live there, and people can also swim, row boats and dive.

By Looking at the moon in the water |

The sea water here is blue and green, and you won’t want to leave after walking on the beach.

La Jolla Cove is a concave bay near San Diego. Like other California bays, sunshine and sand are essential here. There's also a wealth of recreational activities. If you have enough time, you can swim, kayak, play water sports, play beach volleyball, surf, and more. Unlike other bays, La Jolla Cove is famous for its seals. Here, groups of seals are constantly playing and frolicking, allowing you to observe them up close. The azure sea and abundant sunshine are truly a sight to behold.

La Jolla Cove and La Jolla Beach are relatively close. The cove is primarily for seal watching, while the beach is primarily for swimming and recreation. You can enter the water anywhere. The shore is dotted with seals, lazily soaking up the California sunshine. While you can't touch them, you can still get up close and personal with them.

Enjoy the beauty of California summer on this clean, blue beach.

La Jolla Beach is the best beach in California for people and animals to bond over... You can avoid seeing seals on Highway 1, so where can you see them? That's right, in La Jolla. Sea lions, seals, seagulls, pelicans, etc.

People are swimming on one side of the beach, while seals are playing on the other side. It's a very harmonious scene! Be careful not to get too close to the seals, and don't feed them!

The beach is located at a park, so parking is tight but free. After a short wait, a space opened up. As soon as I looked out the window, I was greeted by a faint scent of the sea. I changed my son into shorts and flip-flops, decisively screwed a 200-500mm cannon lens onto my Nikon 850, and we scampered across the lawn. No need to look; following the fishy smell in the air and the laughter of the crowd, we found those plump creatures. And there were more than a few; sea lions basking in the sun were everywhere, lazily piled on the beach and rocks. Many were also surfing in the shallows, occasionally emitting a piercing, heavy-mouthed roar. The shutter speed speaks volumes about these creatures. The continuous shooting speed of 11 frames per second satisfied my sniper-like nerves. I captured their weddings, playful encounters, affectionate moments, and countless other adorable moments... As for the smell, honestly, it was quite tolerable. I got used to it after a while!!!

While occasionally clicking the shutter button, I watched the boy leaping on the reef covered with sea lions. He suddenly lowered his head and began to observe each sea lion carefully. What was he looking for? Later he realized that he was looking for one that was fast asleep so that he could touch it... and he actually touched the butt of a sea lion. However, when he made his move, the sea lion suddenly turned around and glared at him. Although he had made all the preparations to retreat, he was still frightened and his heart skipped a beat. Not far away, I naturally laughed my ass off too. He jumped in front of me and excitedly told me that the sea lion's skin was so soft, and then laughed with me again. The laughter echoed to the distant horizon of the sea and sky. The long-lost joy turned into a fiery red glow, outlining the outlines of everyone in front of me, shining golden and dazzling...

This is an upscale community. The government built a children's swimming pool, separated a small bay with a breakwater, created a flat sandy beach, and built changing rooms and showers.

As a result, it was occupied by a group of seals, with more than a hundred seals basking in the sun every day.

A colleague's cell phone accidentally fell off the breakwater, and he jumped down to pick it up. A seal immediately fled, crawling and looking at him. After he came up, the seal immediately stopped moving, leaving behind a 3m crawling trace.

By Sony Girls |

Look at the seals, feel the sea breeze, step on the sea, and enjoy a lazy day. I especially like La Jolly.

In order to enjoy the most beautiful sunset at La Jolla Beach, we drove out of Legoland at about 7:30 in the evening. It took about half an hour to arrive. There were many people in the place and we couldn’t find a place to park. We had to watch the sunset from the car. If there was a parking space, we could walk to the beach and see many seals playing and resting on the shore.

By Mimi |

La Jolla Cove is bustling with visitors. Home to a diverse array of marine life, it's a government-protected ecological reserve. Park regulations prohibit touching or approaching these adorable sea lions, so let's give them some space to nap. There's a pier overlooking the sea, and seabirds occasionally rest on the rocks near the pier, while sea lions, fresh from their swim, come up to rest.

By The taste of fruit |

La Jolla Cove is a famous natural ecological area in Southern California. In addition to the beautiful ocean view, you can also see adorable seals and sea lions lazily basking in the sun on the beach.

The ones enjoying the sun on this rock are sea lions. In order to distinguish them, I made a special study. The ones with rough and spotted skin are seals, the ones with smooth skin are sea lions, the ones with cat-like claws are seals, the ones with webbed claws are sea lions, the quiet ones are seals, and the noisy ones are sea lions.

It was really exciting to be able to get so close to them. The sea lions are quite friendly, but you have to keep your distance, after all, this is their territory.

By yasu |

Seals and walruses bask in the sun on the beach all day and night, creating a slightly fishy smell. Brunch at the nearby breakfast shop is a unique experience. Pelicans, various seabirds, and small animals like squirrels also visit. In May, the hillsides next to the cove are covered in large, beautiful daisies.

By Lord Tingting |

It's worth going, you can get close to the sea lions!

By lvzhongfu |

Very beautiful bay, good water, clean beach, cute sea lions, sunny and comfortable!

By Wellhome |

What a beautiful place, not only the scenery is beautiful, but also the peaceful atmosphere. Various seabirds, seals, the sea and people coexist under the beautiful sunshine, which naturally makes people feel good!

By Sheng means blooming |

La Jolla at sunset, people running on the beach, people walking their dogs, happy dogs, people surfing in the sea, people coming ashore with surfboards, planes in the sky, and foreign elderly people taking pictures of the sunset on the beach. This should be the most beautiful place to watch the sunset in San Diego.

By Lady Ying |

Due to a detour and a lack of parking, we lost a considerable amount of time. By the time we arrived at La Jolla Beach, the sun was almost sinking into the horizon. I was a little disappointed that I didn't see any seals or partridges, but I was captivated by the beauty of the beach in the afterglow. The clear water reflected the brilliant fiery clouds in the sky, and the sun's rays were shattered by the waves, then swallowed by the swirling spray. A few children played on the rocks, and birds occasionally flew across the sky. Perhaps this is what travel is like, I think: there are always surprises and regrets. The small regret of that moment gradually faded away with the passage of time, and that evening, the gentle La Jolla seascape in the night breeze, that fleeting glimpse in the afterglow, is the most beautiful moment that remains in my memory.

By Wenjun |

The beach was fantastic, with the Pacific Ocean waves crashing against it and seals basking in the sun. You could get up close and personal with them. There were also some artists selling paintings along the way, making it a great place for a stroll.

By Drift Bottle |

This place is truly stunning. Unlike the ambiguous green waters of the tropics, this place offers a refreshing and tranquil beauty. The adjacent Brockton Villa Restaurant offers a fantastic view of the ocean. Highly recommended!

By Alex |

This California coastline is a gem! Breathtakingly beautiful! Groups of seals bask in the sun and play on the beach! If you don't get too close, they'll practically ignore you, until you get too close, when they instinctively defend their territory. Take a leisurely stroll along the coastline and relax on the lawn! If you're not into sightseeing, spend the day by the sea with a favorite book. Don't miss the sunset! A sunset selfie is a must-have for those of you who are artistically inclined.

By Zhang Xue |

There are many seabirds, many people surfing, beautiful scenery, and you can walk to the black sand beach.

By Eastern Emperor Cherry |

When you come here, I recommend kayaking, which will be a pleasant surprise! Not only will you get in close contact with the Pacific Ocean, but you can also paddle close to the caves to see wild seals and many seabirds!

By Let's talk about it later |

There are so many cute wild sea lions! They all come out to bask in the sun in the afternoon

By Ting |

The beach is quite large, and we went to the side with the sea lions. The surfing area is a few minutes away. It was cloudy and the temperature was quite low, so the photos we took weren't as beautiful as we'd hoped. There were a lot of fat sea lions lying on the rocks, which was quite smelly. The waves were also quite strong. We had originally gone there for the sea lions and the sunset, but it was cloudy, so we figured we wouldn't be able to see the sunset, so we left after seeing and photographing enough.

By Ken |

The scenery is amazing and the air is good. However, public transportation is not convenient, so it is best to drive.

By 10:07 |

The transportation is convenient, and it seems that there is no charge for parking if you find a parking space yourself. The scenery is very beautiful. I can't help but sigh, "The same Pacific Ocean, why is it so unfair to our country?"

I arrived in the morning and didn't eat or spend money here, so I can only comment on one thing - a very beautiful bay. It is definitely worth your visit.

By aivilO |

You can see seals and sea lions at La Jolla Beach, and you can get really close to them. I think it is the most fun place in San Diego.

You must come here to watch the sunset, it's beautiful

Seals and sea lions are very similar, but the difference is that seals only have ear holes but no ears, while sea lions have small ears that stick up.

There are seals lying in the Children's pool. Because they need some quiet time, you can't get too close to them.

After walking forward to Sea Lion Cove, you will see sea lions lying there. There are so many of them and you can get very close to them.

However, sea lions are quite aggressive, so don't tease or touch them.

By Big Bull Zhou Botong |

The free attractions have pleasant scenery and must be visited. Parking is free on the roadside. There are sea lions, seals and seabirds up close. If you don't mind the smell, you basically don't need to go to the zoo. It's a great place to see the sea.

By lele-wow wow |

Probably the most beautiful place in San Diego, except for the lack of free parking and close encounters with seals and sea lions.

By Emily🌻 |

This is definitely my favorite place, and it’s also a must-go place for friends and family to walk when they come to visit, see the stink seals, and experience one of the most beautiful beaches in California.

La Jolla, also known as La Jolla in Spanish, is a small city located northwest of San Diego. Known as La Jolla Cove for its beautiful, winding coastline, it boasts both cliffs and beaches, earning it the nickname "The Pearl of San Diego." It boasts prime residential areas, with homes averaging over $1 million. Art galleries, boutiques, open-air cafes, historic churches, and contemporary art museums are everywhere. La Jolla Cove boasts crystal-clear waters with an average annual temperature of around 35°C. La Jolla is charming, natural, and unrestrained. Beyond its endless expanse of white sand, the shoreline is dotted with a variety of reefs. La Jolla Cove surpasses many other beaches in Los Angeles and San Diego with its undeniable natural beauty and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, but it's not often visited. It was a bit cloudy when we visited, so the scenery was average.

"La Jolla" means "jewel" in Spanish. Located north of San Diego, near the University of California, San Diego, this beautiful, tranquil, and exquisite bay is known as the Pearl of the San Diego Coast and is considered San Diego's most beautiful bay.

By Meow |

I saw the sunset here, so even though it's just an ordinary beach, I still think it's beautiful!!!

By Restless Samantha |

The Pacific coast area, I came here in the morning and strolled quietly, it was very comfortable. Americans have already started surfing early in the morning, how much they love sports!

By Alex |

It feels like paradise. If you're not planning on swimming, I recommend going later to watch the sunset. You can head to SeaWorld and then head straight to La Jolla. For transportation, I recommend taking an Uber; it's so convenient, you don't have to worry about finding parking. It's a 20-minute drive from the city. A must-see.

By Melancholic Youngster |

It's a super beautiful beach. In December, you can see groups of sea lions sunbathing on the beach. You can truly experience the harmonious coexistence of man and nature.

By Never~KK |

A little further from the bay, there are many cafes and restaurants facing the sea. However, judging by the decoration, they are probably not very cheap.

As soon as we arrived at the beach, KK was shivering again when the sea breeze blew. I really don’t know how those girls who were dressed so smartly and posing in the biting cold wind did it. In short, I was not cold-resistant at all, so Howie laughed at me again.

There's a giant frog-like rock on the sea. If it were in China, it would definitely be circled and heavily promoted as a tourist attraction like "Golden Cicada Playing in the Water." But in the United States, such a rock is completely ignored. People still come and go, and they are accustomed to the wonders of nature.

From time to time, sea lions would lazily crawl out of the water on the reef, lie on the big rocks to bask in the sun, and would roar a few times when frightened by the crowd.

Although there is an indescribable stench in the area where sea lions gather, it still cannot stop curious tourists.

After playing with the sea lions for a while, I watched the sky change from blue to orange, so I hurried from the reef to the viewing area with railings, waiting to watch the sunset.

It rained on the day we went there, so it was a pity that we couldn't see the blue sea and blue sky. I believe it would have been beautiful if the weather was better.

By Tigerhero1 |

We went there towards dusk. The roadside sign said parking was prohibited at that spot, but there were so many cars parked nearby that it was hard to find a spot. Luckily, after waiting for a minute, a spot opened up right next to us. The moment we got out of the car, the pungent smell of the sea and seals filled my nose! Seals were everywhere. Foreigners were swimming with the seals in the sea, teasing them. They were so brave, weren't they afraid they'd bite if they got angry? The seals on the beach weren't afraid at all. They even approached us, but they remained lazily and ignored us. My sons were thrilled and couldn't stop taking photos with them. There was a restroom outside the roadside toilet with a shower area, so many foreigners rinsed off after their swim and drove away.

By Wang Aiyi |

This beautiful beach was my favorite on this coastal road trip and a must-see in San Diego. There were many sea lions sunbathing on the beach. They were chubby and adorable, and they weren't afraid of people, and wouldn't shy away even if you got too close.

La Jolla, a Spanish name meaning "jewel," is located north of San Diego's three main beaches. Don't underestimate this suburban town; it's incredibly famous in the United States. I've heard it's the most expensive residential area in the country, and it's also the hometown of my favorite actor, Gregory Peck. The first thing I noticed upon entering the town was its cleanliness. The streets are lined with upscale shops, dotted with several distinctive Spanish churches, and it has a rich cultural atmosphere. The beach is perfect for spotting sea lions. It was my first time seeing so many up close. We took photos and played with the sea lions until dinner time came.

The ocean view is breathtaking! I wish I could stay there. After taking the bus from Old Town to this stretch of water, gazing at the endless Pacific Ocean, my mind races. I envy those ocean-facing rooms so much! The beauty of the sunset will forever remain in my mind.

The waves are high and the water is clear year-round. Strange rocks, straits, birds, sea lions, tourists, and sunsets form every picture.

There are many people running on the beach. Americans attach great importance to health. Who would refuse to run in such an environment?

La Jolla Bay is a bay with a channel where waves constantly crash against the shore. Growing up in a coastal city, I couldn't help but admire the scenery here. The green and blue waters are so clear, and the environment here is so well protected.

Walking to the bottom of the bay, you can see many sea lions lying on the rocks, lazily enjoying the sunshine. Suddenly I feel that all animals living in the United States are happy.

By Wang Ning in Beijing |

Considered San Diego's most beautiful bay, it boasts exquisite, unique hotels, restaurants (especially those specializing in seafood), and numerous arty shops. The bay is also famous for its seals, with flocks of wild seals basking on the beach, while seagulls perch on the cliffs in the distance.

La Jolla is a beautiful, tranquil, and majestic bay. Located in San Diego's affluent neighborhood, strolling along the bayside, you'll often see locals jogging or walking their dogs. While a bit far from downtown, it's easily accessible, taking a bus about 30-40 minutes from downtown. Besides boasting what is arguably San Diego's most beautiful bay, it also boasts exquisite, unique hotels, distinctive restaurants (primarily seafood, of course), and a number of charming, artistic shops. La Jolla Bay is particularly famous for its seals, with flocks of wild seals basking on the beach, while seagulls perch on the cliffs in the distance. While you can't touch the seals, you can get up close and personal with them. Seals are generally fearless; even if you play with them, they'll simply lie back and sleep. If possible, it's best to visit in the afternoon to enjoy the daytime scenery and then sit on the rocks by the sea to watch the sunset. It's truly stunning, and with the sun setting just below the horizon, it's a perfect time for photo ops. Don't tell me I didn't tell you!

Special reminder*** is to take care of yourself before going there, or when you see a toilet, there are almost no clean public toilets there, only those temporary plastic toilets near the seals.

By Mr. Tang |

Although the sea here is not very blue, it is very unique: there are not only surfers, but also gatherings of seals and walruses.

La Jolla is Spanish, translated into Chinese as La Jolla, which means jewelry. It is a world-famous area on the coast of San Diego, stretching for seven miles and is the home of the University of California, San Diego.

There are beaches, cliffs, luxury hotels, beach villas, wide sandy beaches and grasslands, high-end golf courses, countless seagulls and seals living on the seashore, and a variety of water and underwater sports.

La Jolla is a quiet beach with stunning scenery: blue skies, ocean, greenery, waves, rocks, and seagulls! The 119-mile drive from San Diego to Los Angeles is a great way to stop and go. You'll also pass by La Jolla Beach and Sunset Cliffs.

La Jolla (La Jolla, because of its proximity to Mexico, the place name is Spanish), this area known as the pearl of San Diego's coastline, is a beautiful place we stumbled upon. It's not just because of the sunshine, beaches, and beautiful streets, but also because of the pods of seals. Watching seals at La Jolla Cove is a very interesting thing. It's said that the beach here was originally for children to play, but because seals often come to the shore to bask in the sun, the beach was simply given to them. The seals are accompanied by flocks of seabirds and sea lions that occasionally come ashore to make a splash, and perhaps some other marine animals. We lay on the fence, sometimes watching the baby seals suckling beside their mothers, and sometimes watching the majestic big seals with their shiny and sturdy bodies twisting on the shore. Lazy seals were lying on the beach basking in the sun. I saw a mother seal and her baby seal. The mother seal was teaching the baby seal to go into the water. Various seabirds were living on the rocks. There were little hares, groundhogs and squirrels everywhere in the flowers by the sea. This place is simply a paradise.

The beaches in La Jolla take on a new dimension. Beyond the endless expanse of white sand, the shoreline boasts a myriad of reefs. These reefs are home to a variety of tiny shells, such as sea urchins and small conches. Soft-shelled crabs slither through the crevices of the reefs.

La Jolla Beach is one of San Diego's most beautiful beaches. It's said to be home to the most expensive land and housing prices in San Diego and even in California. I love this beach, too. It boasts cliffs, rocks, and a beach, home to countless seabirds and colonies of seals.

La Jolla Cove is absolutely beautiful! Seabirds and sea lions bask in the sun, coexisting harmoniously with humans. However, the area where the sea lions hang out has a strong odor. I could smell them before I even saw them.

There is a small cave, which was a surprise because I had never seen it before. There were many seals lying on the beach and basking in the sun, which created such a wonderful sight. The little seals were cute and enjoyed themselves.
