Atlanta Hyatt Regency Vs. Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown
Hi, I have the opportunity to stay at either the Atlanta Hyatt Regency or Crowne Plaza Midtown. Both are on VRBO. Queen/ King suites. This is only for a one night stay. But want to be in a safe location with walking access to Marta. Which do you prefer? 1,2,3….go 😁
Both the Hyatt Regency Atlanta and Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown are solid options, but they each have unique features that may cater to different preferences. Let's break them down based on your priorities: safety, proximity to MARTA, and overall experience.
- Hyatt Regency Atlanta:
- Location: The Hyatt Regency is centrally located in downtown Atlanta, right on Peachtree Street, which is close to popular spots like the Georgia Aquarium, Centennial Olympic Park, and the World of Coca-Cola. It is also very close to the Five Points MARTA station, which makes it easy to access the subway system. This is a great advantage if you’re planning on using public transportation.
- Safety: Downtown Atlanta is generally safe, but like any large city, there are areas that can be less desirable after dark. However, the area around the Hyatt Regency is busy with plenty of shops, restaurants, and tourists, which can make it feel more secure. It’s well-traveled and has good foot traffic even in the evening.
- Amenities: The Hyatt Regency is a large hotel with modern amenities like an on-site restaurant, a fitness center, and a rooftop bar with great views. It’s a bit more upscale, with a large lobby and a professional atmosphere.
- Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown:
- Location: The Crowne Plaza is situated in Midtown Atlanta, which is a vibrant area known for its cultural attractions, like the High Museum of Art and Piedmont Park. It’s also close to MARTA, with the Arts Center station nearby (a short walk). Midtown is a more relaxed, residential-feel area compared to the hustle of downtown. If you prefer a quieter, less tourist-heavy area with local shops and restaurants, Midtown is a great choice.
- Safety: Midtown is known for being a safe neighborhood, with a mix of residential, commercial, and cultural spots. The area around the Crowne Plaza feels safe and is well-lit at night. It’s generally a more laid-back area compared to downtown, but still offers a good level of security, especially for those who prefer a quieter environment.
- Amenities: The Crowne Plaza offers solid amenities as well, including an on-site restaurant, bar, and meeting spaces. It’s not as large or flashy as the Hyatt Regency, but it provides a comfortable and convenient stay. The neighborhood around it offers more local spots and is great for a slightly more “authentic” Atlanta experience.
Conclusion:
If you prefer being right in the middle of the action with easy access to MARTA and major attractions, the Hyatt Regency might be the better option. It’s a large, busy hotel in a central location. However, if you’re looking for a more relaxed atmosphere with a bit more charm and access to local spots, the Crowne Plaza in Midtown is a great choice. Both hotels are safe and have good access to MARTA, so you can’t go wrong with either, depending on your preference for downtown hustle vs. Midtown’s more residential feel.
Ultimately, it depends on what vibe you’re looking for on your short stay in Atlanta!
