Which casino to book our stay???? Margaritaville or Horsesho

Traveling in May for three nights…for a wedding… small group of us ages 40-50… between Margaritaville and horseshoe which one is the overall better option? We like a lively fun atmosphere, which pool has a better, friendly, fun, upbeat crowd? I’ve heard that Horseshoe has larger rooms but then I’ve also heard that the rooms are dated. Which is the better choice? Thanks

Both Margaritaville and Horseshoe are great options for a lively and fun atmosphere in Bossier City, but each offers a slightly different vibe. Here’s a detailed breakdown to help you decide which one would be the best choice for your group based on your preferences for a fun, upbeat experience, as well as the pool, room quality, and overall atmosphere:

1. Margaritaville Resort Casino: This resort has a more laid-back, tropical vibe, inspired by the Margaritaville brand. It’s great if you're looking for a fun, vibrant, and upbeat atmosphere. The casino is lively, and the resort features a large pool area with a fun, social vibe. The pool has a good mix of lounging space and a lively crowd, with a swim-up bar and regular poolside events, making it a great spot for groups who want to enjoy a lively pool scene.

  • Pool Atmosphere: The pool at Margaritaville is definitely the more social, vibrant spot. It tends to attract a younger crowd (though anyone is welcome) and often has a party atmosphere, especially during warmer months. The swim-up bar and poolside events contribute to a more energetic and fun vibe.
  • Overall Vibe: Margaritaville has a more laid-back, yet lively vibe with its tropical theme. The casino floor is fun, and you’ll find lots of entertainment options like live music and themed bars. There are also plenty of food options within the resort, including a couple of casual spots that add to the relaxed, fun atmosphere.
  • Rooms: While Margaritaville is known for its fun atmosphere, the rooms are generally more modern and updated compared to Horseshoe. The rooms are on the smaller side but are bright and comfortable, aligning with the resort's fun theme.

2. Horseshoe Bossier City: Horseshoe is a more traditional, classic casino resort. It has a larger casino floor, offering a variety of gaming options. The vibe here is a little more refined and can be quieter than Margaritaville, though it still has plenty of entertainment options. Horseshoe is known for its spacious rooms, but some guests have noted that they can feel a bit dated in terms of decor and furnishings.

  • Pool Atmosphere: Horseshoe has a smaller, more subdued pool area compared to Margaritaville. While it’s relaxing, it tends to attract a quieter crowd. If you’re looking for a more laid-back pool experience, it might be a good fit, but it doesn’t offer the same party atmosphere you’d get at Margaritaville.
  • Overall Vibe: Horseshoe is known for its large casino and variety of table games and slots, making it a great choice for serious gamblers. It has an elegant, traditional casino feel, but the vibe can be quieter and less energetic compared to Margaritaville. It also offers a few dining and entertainment options, though they are more low-key.
  • Rooms: Horseshoe has larger rooms, and many guests appreciate the spaciousness. However, as you mentioned, the rooms are sometimes described as a bit dated in terms of decor. While they are still comfortable and offer a good value, they may not feel as fresh or modern as the rooms at Margaritaville.

Which to Choose? If you’re looking for a more lively and upbeat atmosphere with a fun pool scene, Margaritaville is the better choice. It’s more modern, with a more social pool area, and its overall vibe is more geared toward relaxation mixed with entertainment. It’s perfect for a group looking for a fun experience and lots of options for dining and entertainment.

If you prefer larger rooms and a more traditional casino experience with a quieter, more relaxed vibe, Horseshoe would be a good option. While the pool is more subdued, the larger rooms and the quieter atmosphere might appeal more if you're looking for a classic casino experience with less of the party scene.

Ultimately, both properties have their strengths, so your decision depends on whether you prioritize a vibrant pool and social atmosphere (Margaritaville) or larger rooms and a more traditional casino experience (Horseshoe). If your group is looking for a fun, lively stay with plenty of entertainment, Margaritaville is probably your best bet, but if you value larger rooms and a more relaxed vibe, Horseshoe might be the way to go.
