Airport Transfers

Aloha

Last time I was in Hawaii was 10 years ago so I’ve forgotten the transport company I used back then (they were awesome)

I’m flying into Honolulu and looking for airport transfer for 4 adults to hotel in Ala Moana area and back to the airport when it’s time to fly back home.

Can anyone recommend any affordable and reliable options please that has no hidden costs.

Or any they have used recently

I’ve found Holoholo but I’m getting mixed reviews on this. We don’t intend on hiring a car because we’re not familiar with driving on the other side of the road & road rules.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

For airport transfers in Oahu, particularly between Honolulu International Airport (HNL) and the Ala Moana area, there are several reliable options to consider. Since you prefer not to rent a car, your choices mainly include shuttle services, private vans, taxis, and rideshare apps.

Shuttle and Transfer Services:

  • Roberts Hawaii Airport Shuttle: One of the most well-known services on Oahu, offering shared or private transfers. Reliable, with set pricing and often used by tourists. They have multiple pick-up points and can accommodate groups of four or more.
  • SpeediShuttle: Provides door-to-door airport transfers. Can be booked online, and drivers are generally friendly and punctual. Good for small groups or families.
  • Holoholo Airport Shuttle: You mentioned mixed reviews—while some travelers have good experiences, others report delays or communication issues. It may work if booked in advance, but consider having a backup plan.

Private Car or Van Services:

  • Blue Hawaiian Transportation: Offers private vans or cars for airport pick-up. Can accommodate luggage easily and allows a flexible schedule, so you’re not tied to shuttle times.
  • Go Shuttle Hawaii: Private or shared vans, reliable for small groups. Rates are upfront, and drivers are familiar with hotel routes in the Ala Moana area.

Rideshare and Taxi:

  • Uber/Lyft: Convenient, especially for groups of 4. No hidden fees, fare is visible upfront. Can be slightly more expensive than shared shuttles but gives flexibility.
  • Taxi: Available at the airport, with metered rates. Taxis are reliable but often more expensive than pre-booked shuttles for groups of four.

Tips for a Smooth Transfer:

  • Book your shuttle or private transfer in advance, especially if your flight arrives in the evening.
  • Confirm if luggage fees are included in the quoted rate to avoid surprises.
  • If you’re traveling during peak tourist season, consider scheduling a slightly earlier pick-up to allow buffer time.
  • For your return to the airport, arranging a pre-booked shuttle or private service ensures timely arrival for your flight.

Overall, for a group of four seeking reliability and affordability, Roberts Hawaii or SpeediShuttle are solid options. If you prefer more privacy and flexibility, a private van from Blue Hawaiian Transportation or Go Shuttle Hawaii would be ideal.
