Which boat tour would you recommend? We will be traveling with grandparents and children so will not be hiking, and traveling from Whitefish.
Wanting the most breathtaking tour! I’m sure they all are :)
Also, appx how long are the boat tours?
Glacier National Park is a stunning place, and taking a boat tour is a wonderful way to experience the park, especially if you're traveling with both grandparents and children. The views from the water are breathtaking, and you’ll be able to enjoy the park’s beauty without needing to hike. Below are some great boat tour options that are known for their incredible scenery, along with their approximate durations:
1. Lake McDonald Boat Tour (Glacier Park Boat Company)
This tour is one of the most popular options for families, offering spectacular views of the towering mountains and lush forests around Lake McDonald. The boat cruises around the lake, offering panoramic views of the shoreline, which is perfect for those who want a relaxing experience without any strenuous activity.
2. Two Medicine Lake Boat Tour (Glacier Park Boat Company)
Located in the southeastern part of the park, Two Medicine Lake is less crowded than Lake McDonald, offering a quieter and more serene experience. The boat tour offers views of stunning glaciers and pristine waters, along with the opportunity to spot wildlife.
3. St. Mary Lake Boat Tour (Glacier Park Boat Company)
St. Mary Lake is located in the eastern part of Glacier National Park and is one of the most picturesque areas of the park. The boat tour here is an excellent way to explore the lake, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including the famous Wild Goose Island. This is one of the best spots in the park for taking photos.
4. Many Glacier Boat Tour (Glacier Park Boat Company)
The Many Glacier area is known for its dramatic scenery, and the boat tour here offers an up-close look at some of the most breathtaking views in Glacier National Park. This tour allows you to take a boat across the lake and hike or explore the area further if you choose. However, the boat tour itself is ideal for those who want a mix of water views and the potential to visit the nearby lodge or trails.
Additional Tips:
Each of these tours offers its own unique charm, but for a family-friendly, breathtaking experience, I'd recommend the Lake McDonald or St. Mary Lake tours for a combination of easy access, stunning views, and a short, relaxing ride. You can’t go wrong with any of these, though!
